- 0:01Speaker 1: My name is Erin Lindauer, and you're listening to A
- 0:04Speaker 1: Life Without Struggle. I'm a wife, a mother of two
- 0:08Speaker 1: wonderful children, a two-time best-selling author, and a highly driven
- 0:13Speaker 1: and successful entrepreneur. In my 17 plus year career as
- 0:18Speaker 1: a mindset and health expert, I know what holds women
- 0:22Speaker 1: back from a life you only dream about. Whether you're
- 0:27Speaker 1: a CEO, a businesswoman or executive, I started this podcast
- 0:32Speaker 1: because I have been where you are and I know
- 0:35Speaker 1: you want and deserve more out of your life. I
- 0:38Speaker 1: believe women are limitless. We just get lost along the way.
- 0:43Speaker 1: The process to get you there is the topic and
- 0:46Speaker 1: purpose of this podcast. When you understand what you want,
- 0:50Speaker 1: you can truly step into a life without struggle. Welcome,
- 0:56Speaker 1: and I'm so thankful you're here. Welcome back to another
- 1:01Speaker 1: episode of Life Without Struggle. My name is Erin Lindauer,
- 1:04Speaker 1: and this podcast is titled The Deeper Truth Behind Why
- 1:09Speaker 1: Women Feel Stuck. So it's not really about the weight,
- 1:13Speaker 1: although that's what most women tell me. So I want
- 1:17Speaker 1: to dive deeper into what are women really struggling with?
- 1:22Speaker 1: Because what I have found, and this may kind of
- 1:27Speaker 1: check a few of you listening to this, but I
- 1:29Speaker 1: want you to understand there's a purpose behind why I
- 1:32Speaker 1: deliver these messages, is you've lost trust in your body.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I've seen this time and time again that women come
- 1:40Speaker 1: to me and they're like, I don't know what works.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I've been an athlete all my life. I've taken care
- 1:45Speaker 1: of myself all my life. Or you just say, listen,
- 1:48Speaker 1: you know, I looked up one day and I had
- 1:50Speaker 1: all this weight on my body. And so we lose
- 1:53Speaker 1: trust because we feel foreign and we're afraid that our
- 1:57Speaker 1: best years are behind us. And what I hear over
- 2:02Speaker 1: and over again, and personally, I've said this too, is
- 2:05Speaker 1: you just want to feel like yourself again. So I
- 2:09Speaker 1: want you to understand that I get you because I
- 2:13Speaker 1: am you. I have experienced this stuff as well in
- 2:16Speaker 1: this perimenopausal space of life. And I want you to
- 2:19Speaker 1: understand that this isn't about just restricting your nutrition and poof,
- 2:25Speaker 1: everything just magically comes together. But I want you to
- 2:29Speaker 1: see that there's a path forward. So it's not about
- 2:34Speaker 1: the 15 pounds. So Women come to me and they'll say, Erin,
- 2:39Speaker 1: I just want to lose this belly fat. I know
- 2:42Speaker 1: there's usually something much deeper behind these words because it's
- 2:46Speaker 1: not always about the belly fat. It's about looking in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the mirror and you don't recognize yourself. It's about working
- 2:55Speaker 1: out five days a week, eating what you think is healthy,
- 2:59Speaker 1: and you wonder why you're not seeing any changes. It's
- 3:04Speaker 1: about missing out the woman you used to be. Okay.
- 3:09Speaker 1: A lot of us have had life. Okay. Most women
- 3:12Speaker 1: that I encounter, you've gone to school, you got the job,
- 3:16Speaker 1: you got married, you had a couple of kids. Okay.
- 3:20Speaker 1: And we get into this very, like, which end is
- 3:24Speaker 1: up kind of feeling. So I have countless conversations with
- 3:30Speaker 1: women who sound different on the surface, but they share
- 3:34Speaker 1: similar frustrations. They're not lazy. They're not unwilling to do work.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Just many of them are already working hard, but it's
- 3:43Speaker 1: the wrong strategy, okay? And it's not working with her hormones.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And so many women say, man, you get me. Well,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I get you because I am you. You know, I
- 3:56Speaker 1: work my tail off and I love it. I wouldn't
- 3:59Speaker 1: have it any other way. I impact women on a
- 4:02Speaker 1: pretty deep level. I have two kids, I have a husband,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I have aging parents, okay? But there's no shortage of
- 4:11Speaker 1: being pulled 50 directions, yet here we are working out,
- 4:15Speaker 1: we're eating well, and why are we not seeing the
- 4:18Speaker 1: scale go down, let alone it's going up? So there's
- 4:23Speaker 1: another space that I catch women. They're saying, I'm doing
- 4:27Speaker 1: everything right, but nothing is working, right? So what you
- 4:32Speaker 1: tell me is, I'm working out five, six days a week.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I eat healthy. I don't understand why I'm not seeing results.
- 4:39Speaker 1: If I had a dollar for every time I've heard
- 4:41Speaker 1: this statement, this is what y'all say, and even myself, okay? So...
- 4:47Speaker 1: you what you're saying is you used to know what
- 4:50Speaker 1: worked with your body. And now you feel like you've
- 4:53Speaker 1: lost control. And you don't know who to trust. You're
- 4:57Speaker 1: looking on the internet. And once you hit one person's thing,
- 5:00Speaker 1: then your floodgates and your algorithm completely gets skewed. You've
- 5:04Speaker 1: got some 2030 something influencers or hell, even have some
- 5:09Speaker 1: 50 plus year old influencers who have no degree in
- 5:14Speaker 1: this industry, and I just will be bullish. You cannot
- 5:18Speaker 1: replace the four years of education that I have had,
- 5:23Speaker 1: the six years that my husband has had, his thesis, okay?
- 5:28Speaker 1: You cannot replace all my internship. You cannot replace physics
- 5:34Speaker 1: from 6 to 9 p.m. on a Wednesday night, and
- 5:37Speaker 1: I thought I was going to fail. No. You cannot
- 5:40Speaker 1: replace the amount of education, let alone I have over
- 5:44Speaker 1: 20 years of experience in understanding what works with the body.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And then here, even myself, I've had weight go on
- 5:54Speaker 1: my body and didn't understand because I was doing all
- 5:57Speaker 1: the things and it forced me into additional schooling. So
- 6:01Speaker 1: I want you to understand that I understand your discipline.
- 6:05Speaker 1: I understand you're strong. But the reflection in the mirror
- 6:09Speaker 1: is not matching what you're doing and you're pissed. This
- 6:14Speaker 1: is where I understand women, but you don't have to
- 6:19Speaker 1: accept this. So many women tell me, well, Erin, is
- 6:23Speaker 1: this just how my body is now? And I'm like, no.
- 6:26Speaker 1: And here's the thing I want to call out. is
- 6:29Speaker 1: even if you're 55, 65 years old, and you've been
- 6:34Speaker 1: dealing with this for the better part of 20 plus years,
- 6:37Speaker 1: it is not too late. It is not too late
- 6:40Speaker 1: to get your body in really, really good shape. It's
- 6:43Speaker 1: just gonna take the right strategy. So some things that
- 6:48Speaker 1: I want to really encourage you to work through is
- 6:53Speaker 1: it isn't so much about gaining this weight. It's about
- 6:58Speaker 1: feeling like you've lost the ability to understand your own
- 7:03Speaker 1: body and Even myself, I couldn't believe how dismissive this
- 7:07Speaker 1: time and space because, okay, here's me, and I know
- 7:10Speaker 1: this hits home for a lot of women, is I
- 7:14Speaker 1: would go to my doctor because I didn't feel well.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I was super lethargic, very fatigued, brain fog, now full disclosure,
- 7:22Speaker 1: I had two very young kids, ran a business, and
- 7:25Speaker 1: had a fair amount of stress in that particular point
- 7:28Speaker 1: of my life. But for the first time I had
- 7:32Speaker 1: weight on my body, but I was doing all the things.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I went to my medical providers because surely something was wrong.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And I can't tell you how many women, you know,
- 7:43Speaker 1: agree with this is, you know, you order the labs
- 7:46Speaker 1: and you pray for just a little something to be
- 7:49Speaker 1: off to help explain. Everything was normal. Everything was fine.
- 7:54Speaker 1: My thyroid was a little sluggish, whatever. That wasn't the
- 7:57Speaker 1: reason why my weight. Okay. So I understand how your nutrition,
- 8:03Speaker 1: your recovery, your stress, your sleep, your training, and all
- 8:08Speaker 1: your individual health factors all matter. And this is why
- 8:12Speaker 1: we do such a personalized approach because this isn't just
- 8:17Speaker 1: about some random workouts. This isn't about some meal plan
- 8:20Speaker 1: that's just gonna magically do this. Oh, and PS, this
- 8:24Speaker 1: is not about a supplement that's gonna change your life.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I'm just gonna be real. So there's another deeper truth
- 8:33Speaker 1: that women feel is, I just want to lose my belly.
- 8:37Speaker 1: So what you tell me is, I hate how my
- 8:40Speaker 1: stomach looks when I wear my shirts. Nothing feels comfortable.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I don't feel comfortable in my clothes. I just want
- 8:48Speaker 1: this belly gone. And what you're really saying is, you
- 8:52Speaker 1: don't feel like yourself anymore. You feel so misaligned and
- 8:57Speaker 1: so uncomfortable, and you just feel unattractive in your own skin.
- 9:03Speaker 1: So this is where this gets really personal. And so
- 9:08Speaker 1: many women avoid wearing certain clothes. I know I did.
- 9:13Speaker 1: We don't want to get in the photo. We don't
- 9:16Speaker 1: want to get dressed in the morning because it's like, well,
- 9:19Speaker 1: what the hell fits? We don't want our husband to
- 9:22Speaker 1: see us naked because we I want to make it
- 9:28Speaker 1: clear that wanting to change your body doesn't make you
- 9:32Speaker 1: vain or shallow or whatever words we use. And it
- 9:36Speaker 1: doesn't mean you have to hate your body to want
- 9:40Speaker 1: to feel better. Okay. Sometimes when women say they want
- 9:44Speaker 1: their old body back, what you're really saying is I
- 9:48Speaker 1: want my confidence back. I want my energy back. I
- 9:53Speaker 1: want to recognize myself again. So it's not that we're
- 9:58Speaker 1: chasing this young version of yourself. It's I want to
- 10:03Speaker 1: feel strong, healthy, confident in this body that I have today.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Another thing that I hear women tell me all the
- 10:12Speaker 1: time is, Erin, I have tried everything. And you have, right?
- 10:17Speaker 1: You've done the keto, you've done Whole30, you tracked your macros, supplements,
- 10:23Speaker 1: different workouts, and just nothing works, nothing sticks. So when
- 10:29Speaker 1: you tell me you've done everything, this is what you really,
- 10:34Speaker 1: really mean when you're talking to me and you're considering
- 10:37Speaker 1: my program. Erin, I'm scared to get my hopes up again.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I'm scared to put in All this effort and to
- 10:47Speaker 1: be disappointed one more time, let alone the financial pressure
- 10:54Speaker 1: of it, the exhaustion, the emotional exhaustion of repeatedly starting over.
- 11:01Speaker 1: And again, it's not that you're lacking any motivation. You
- 11:05Speaker 1: lack the confidence that this next attempt will be any different.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And I feel you. But this is where I'm gonna
- 11:14Speaker 1: tell you, you're not afraid of doing the work. You're
- 11:18Speaker 1: afraid of doing all the work and ending up right
- 11:21Speaker 1: back where you started. So I wanna give you permission
- 11:27Speaker 1: to stop searching for the most extreme solution and start
- 11:32Speaker 1: looking for one that fits your needs, that fits your preferences,
- 11:38Speaker 1: that fits your lifestyle. But I'm also gonna encourage you
- 11:42Speaker 1: You gotta go all in, okay? You can't put one
- 11:45Speaker 1: toe in, one toe out. You can't be all over
- 11:47Speaker 1: the pumpkin spice latte and not realize like, yo girl,
- 11:51Speaker 1: that's 350 calories or more, okay? Another one that I
- 11:57Speaker 1: hear often is, I don't have time to focus on myself.
- 12:03Speaker 1: So what you're saying to me is, my life is crazy,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I've got kids, I got a husband, I got a job,
- 12:08Speaker 1: everything else, all the household stuff falls on me, And
- 12:12Speaker 1: I just can't make myself a priority. What you mean
- 12:16Speaker 1: is I don't know how to take care of myself
- 12:19Speaker 1: without feeling like I'm letting everyone else down around me.
- 12:24Speaker 1: This is something that I see women do over and
- 12:27Speaker 1: over again. And I'm going to tell you that this
- 12:31Speaker 1: is an excuse. And I'm going to say that very
- 12:34Speaker 1: lovingly because I feel you. We've got a lot on
- 12:37Speaker 1: our plate. but I'm going to show you how you
- 12:40Speaker 1: can still take care of you and not let anyone
- 12:44Speaker 1: else down. Okay, you still are going to eat. Why
- 12:48Speaker 1: not nourish your body? Why not understand what works with
- 12:52Speaker 1: your body? Why not understand what foods support a fat
- 12:58Speaker 1: loss phase? So I spend hours upon hours talking to
- 13:04Speaker 1: women who have spent years making sure everyone else is good,
- 13:09Speaker 1: but yet they don't take the time for themselves. But
- 13:13Speaker 1: what they don't realize is your life is never going
- 13:16Speaker 1: to slow down. And we actually can fit this in
- 13:21Speaker 1: because you're already doing the things. They just need more direction.
- 13:26Speaker 1: So this is where we really understand busy schedules, family meals.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I mean, we're still in this phase of life and
- 13:33Speaker 1: I'm sure everyone We're just going to get busier with
- 13:36Speaker 1: kids getting into things and as they're getting a little
- 13:39Speaker 1: bit older and you're going to have unpredictable days. You're
- 13:43Speaker 1: going to have days where you're carrying a little bit
- 13:45Speaker 1: more of a mental load. I feel this on a
- 13:48Speaker 1: daily basis. You know, I didn't want to call my
- 13:51Speaker 1: father back the other day because I knew it was
- 13:53Speaker 1: one more thing with my mom and her health and
- 13:57Speaker 1: it weighs on me. I also hear women say, I
- 14:02Speaker 1: just want to be healthy. You want more energy. You
- 14:08Speaker 1: want to be healthy for your kids. That's a very
- 14:11Speaker 1: common one I hear. I don't want to keep feeling
- 14:14Speaker 1: this way. That's common that I hear. And what you
- 14:19Speaker 1: may really mean is I'm worried about what my future
- 14:24Speaker 1: looks like if I don't change. You're thinking about these
- 14:30Speaker 1: kiddos that you're absolutely putting, I would say, before yourself,
- 14:36Speaker 1: but then you're worried about what the future is going
- 14:38Speaker 1: to look like. I'm here to tell you that what
- 14:41Speaker 1: you do in your 40s, 50s, and 60s will hands
- 14:46Speaker 1: down shape your 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond. We have
- 14:51Speaker 1: technology and science to live to 150 plus years. Now,
- 14:58Speaker 1: the reason we're not seeing people live that far is
- 15:01Speaker 1: because they're not taking care of themselves. They're super inflamed,
- 15:04Speaker 1: eating all kinds of garbage, justifying it, but that's the
- 15:07Speaker 1: world we live in. So you're worried about what your
- 15:12Speaker 1: future looks like if you don't change. And so let's
- 15:17Speaker 1: not wait for the serious health problem because sometimes that
- 15:23Speaker 1: wakes people up, but sometimes it doesn't. And here's another
- 15:28Speaker 1: thing to call out is women always say, oh, I've
- 15:31Speaker 1: got a vacation coming up. So there's my motivation. Or
- 15:34Speaker 1: I just want to wear a certain clothing size. And
- 15:39Speaker 1: I get having some sort of motivators like that. But
- 15:43Speaker 1: you got to do this because this is just who
- 15:45Speaker 1: you want to be. That you want to see a
- 15:49Speaker 1: certain woman in the mirror. And you're trying to protect
- 15:54Speaker 1: a life that that you want to live a good 10, 20,
- 15:58Speaker 1: 30 plus years from now. When you think about being
- 16:02Speaker 1: the grandma, you know, in the rocking chair, I'm just kidding.
- 16:06Speaker 1: I don't know why I think of rocking chair and grandma,
- 16:08Speaker 1: but like when you see yourself as a grandmother, do
- 16:13Speaker 1: you want to be the one that can get up
- 16:15Speaker 1: and down, can hold the babes, can do all the
- 16:17Speaker 1: things with them that can maybe take the load off
- 16:21Speaker 1: of your kid, meaning your adult kids? I mean, I
- 16:25Speaker 1: would think so. I think for most of us, we
- 16:28Speaker 1: want to see ourselves being super able-bodied. And I'm sure
- 16:33Speaker 1: all of us know a family member, loved one, that
- 16:37Speaker 1: maybe didn't take care of themselves. And as a consequence,
- 16:40Speaker 1: the later years of life were really tough and tough
- 16:44Speaker 1: on everybody around them. So we want to talk about
- 16:49Speaker 1: building sustainable habits that support long-term health. But listen, let's
- 16:55Speaker 1: just be real. Nobody gets excited when I say sustainable habits, okay?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Even I cringe when I say that. But this is
- 17:03Speaker 1: where I catch so many women is you're just trying
- 17:06Speaker 1: so many damn things. I mean, even a GOP, which
- 17:09Speaker 1: I have mad respect for a GOP and support a
- 17:12Speaker 1: lot of women on a GOP But if you're not
- 17:15Speaker 1: doing it with the right strategy, you will absolutely put
- 17:19Speaker 1: the weight back on and you will be in a
- 17:21Speaker 1: worse metabolic shape because you didn't protect your muscle and
- 17:25Speaker 1: you didn't put more muscle on. So you don't need
- 17:31Speaker 1: to fight your body. You need to understand physiologically what
- 17:37Speaker 1: works with your body now. This is why I created
- 17:40Speaker 1: my Infinite Women Hormone Optimization Method This is designed to
- 17:46Speaker 1: look beyond the number on the scale. We do very
- 17:50Speaker 1: personalized when it comes to your nutrition. We do appropriate
- 17:54Speaker 1: strength training, help you with recovery, lifestyle, your habits. And then, yes,
- 18:02Speaker 1: we're going to hold you accountable. Now, I can't hold
- 18:04Speaker 1: your hand. I can't make you do the things. But
- 18:09Speaker 1: I can give you that voice of hope. of, hey girl,
- 18:13Speaker 1: try doing this a little bit differently. Hey, just because
- 18:16Speaker 1: you get stressed and binge the ice cream, hey, what
- 18:19Speaker 1: if we did something just a little bit different? What
- 18:22Speaker 1: if we just planned those calories? What if you didn't
- 18:27Speaker 1: have to feel the stress the way you feel it?
- 18:31Speaker 1: And also we connect you with a medical wellness provider
- 18:34Speaker 1: when and if appropriate. So I don't believe women over
- 18:39Speaker 1: 40 need another person telling them to eat less, exercise more.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I believe you need someone who will actually listen to
- 18:46Speaker 1: what you're experiencing. Look at the bigger picture, help you
- 18:50Speaker 1: build a personalized strategy that makes sense with your body
- 18:55Speaker 1: in this phase of life, because you deserve more than
- 18:58Speaker 1: just a temporary result. You know, my biggest thing is
- 19:01Speaker 1: number one, getting your foundation firm. Number two, get you
- 19:05Speaker 1: in a fat loss recomposition phase. Number three is the
- 19:09Speaker 1: most important part of my program, and I get really
- 19:13Speaker 1: frustrated when a woman leaves my program and she's not
- 19:17Speaker 1: quite there. She thinks she's there, but she's not quite there.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And consequently, six months, a year goes by, and she's
- 19:27Speaker 1: back in my DMs. That actually just happened, and I
- 19:31Speaker 1: was like, dang it, I knew? I knew we weren't
- 19:35Speaker 1: there because I see things that you don't. I see language.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I see patterns. And I understand what it takes to
- 19:45Speaker 1: have true change, to truly change that, hey, this is
- 19:50Speaker 1: how I view the holidays. This is how I view food.
- 19:55Speaker 1: And a lot of women, they think they can just
- 19:58Speaker 1: grit through this and that's never, never going to serve you.
- 20:03Speaker 1: So what do you really want back? So here's what
- 20:08Speaker 1: I want you to think about today. When you say
- 20:10Speaker 1: you want to lose 15 pounds or whatever the number is,
- 20:14Speaker 1: what would losing 15 pounds actually mean to you? Would
- 20:19Speaker 1: it mean feeling confident when you get dressed? Would it
- 20:22Speaker 1: mean having energy to get through your day? Would it
- 20:25Speaker 1: mean finally feeling comfortable in your body? Or would it
- 20:30Speaker 1: mean that you're in control, in control of your health?
- 20:34Speaker 1: Because all these answers matter. And I want you to
- 20:38Speaker 1: know that you don't have to keep repeating the same cycle,
- 20:41Speaker 1: hoping that this time something is magically different. So my
- 20:47Speaker 1: recommendation is you're thinking you need to change your body,
- 20:53Speaker 1: but what you're really looking for is to feel confident,
- 20:57Speaker 1: to feel capable, to feel healthy, to feel like love
- 21:02Speaker 1: the woman you see in the mirror. And I want
- 21:05Speaker 1: you to know that that is 100% possible.
