- 0:12Hello, Melissa Crook here. Welcome to the field podcast.
- 0:16Today we're going to talk about what it can look like to lead
- 0:22from a feel standpoint, from a finding empowerment, embracing
- 0:27layers standpoint. And I call this the feel
- 0:29leadership immersion. This is something you can work
- 0:33with me one-on-one on. But today I'm going to give you
- 0:36some tips that'll get you start thinking in this way and it
- 0:39might give you all you need to get going or you might decide,
- 0:42yeah, I do need to work with Melissa a little bit more.
- 0:44All that information is in our show notes and the links to
- 0:48embracinglayers.com and the contact form there, as well as
- 0:51on our website, on our resources page.
- 0:53But let's talk about feel leadership immersion today and,
- 0:57and what does that mean? So this is really for visionary
- 1:02women leaders, creatives, entrepreneurs.
- 1:08And you want to lead movements, you want to lead businesses,
- 1:11your families, your communities with wholeness, not burnout.
- 1:17You want to be present, you want to feel resourced and refreshed
- 1:22in your leadership. And, and, and what this really
- 1:26delivers when you're able to do this is First off, you've taken
- 1:31a deep dive into feel, finding empowerment, embracing layers as
- 1:37a lifestyle first, which then allows you to move it into a
- 1:42leadership operating system. So this means really believing
- 1:47and adopting that. How do I prioritize myself?
- 1:50Care what? How do I live out and deliver
- 1:54and decide what my healthy boundaries are?
- 1:57Do I understand to connect with all the connections between our
- 2:01mental, emotional, physical, spiritual health?
- 2:04Do I have activities and practices in place that honor
- 2:09these areas of my life? Do I understand what it means to
- 2:14live unapologetically for myself and as well as showing up to
- 2:19support other women in doing so? Am IA chronic apologizer or do I
- 2:24understand that I don't need to lead every sentence with I'm
- 2:30sorry that when I'm walking in a room and asking for your time,
- 2:36I'm saying hey, excuse me, I'd love to have a minute of your
- 2:39time to discuss this in and and not going in with saying I'm so
- 2:44sorry. Can I bother you for a moment?
- 2:46That is not how we want to deliver it.
- 2:48We want that first delivery. Do I lift myself?
- 2:52Look clearly that way? Do I do?
- 2:55Is that that really something I'm operating out of?
- 2:59Do I understand what my why and my values are?
- 3:02Have I asked myself those critical questions of the
- 3:05activities that nourish me and how I want to feel the next six
- 3:08months and who I am as a person and how I describe myself to
- 3:12help inform what I care about, what my values are, what my why
- 3:17is? Is my life and my work in
- 3:19alignment with that? Am I actively living out of my
- 3:22own expectations and what I wish for my life versus others?
- 3:27Am I communicating those things clearly?
- 3:30Am I embracing my layers, all those pieces and parts that make
- 3:35up who I am? That some I might love, some I
- 3:39might not love, but I am I able to be curious rather than
- 3:42judgmental about those things. And then do I, through doing
- 3:48this, through practicing this framework, am I able to really
- 3:52see how this has impacted my relationship with myself as well
- 3:57as how it impacts my relationship with other people?
- 4:01So the first part in this field leadership immersion is really
- 4:05learning and embracing how to live out this field framework
- 4:10yourself. So you're like, I really like
- 4:12that, but I need some help with the first before I can really
- 4:15start applying this to my leadership.
- 4:17Let's get together and talk about that.
- 4:19We can get you on the right trajectory so that you can lead
- 4:23from this place. But if you feel like, no, I've
- 4:25done this work, Melissa, I have. And I have been practicing these
- 4:29principles, whether it's through my framework or other people
- 4:33you've listened and learned from, these are things that I
- 4:35feel like are really fully entrenched, OK?
- 4:37Are you taking that to work with you?
- 4:39Are you applying that in your leadership?
- 4:41Are you allowing these to also guide how you direct people, how
- 4:47you train people, how you encourage your employees, how
- 4:51you bring them alongside you in the journey?
- 4:55And this, you know, also, it just really helps you clarify
- 4:58your personal Wyan values as your North Star, which then
- 5:02guide how you show up again in the spaces and honor your
- 5:05employees Wyan values and their North Star.
- 5:09You care about them more than just as employees.
- 5:12You care about them as people and you're helping them and
- 5:16supporting them in living out feel.
- 5:19This really helps you align your health and your relationships
- 5:24and work with how you want to feel over the next six months.
- 5:27So all of these things are coming together.
- 5:30You're not compartmentalizing. Well, I live out feel here, but
- 5:33I'm not taking it to work with you.
- 5:34Well, then you're not really fully living out feel.
- 5:36If you're compartmentalizing it, that makes sense.
- 5:39And then, but this immersion really helps you develop a
- 5:43personalized road map to live and lead from identity, not
- 5:48activity. You're you.
- 5:50And then that encourages when your employees see you living
- 5:53that way, they know it's safe for them to live that way.
- 5:56They know it's safe for them to fill their cops and communicate
- 5:59clearly because you're communicating clearly with them.
- 6:03And when you're when everyone comes to work feeling supported
- 6:07and seen and known and heard and resourced, then everyone's
- 6:13productivity increases. I talked talked about before, if
- 6:17you follow me at all, we are actually much more effective and
- 6:23productive when we are able to come into our workspaces fully
- 6:28filled cups, rested, appreciated, honored with
- 6:33healthy boundaries and clear expectations.
- 6:36We'll get a lot more done in a less amount of time than if
- 6:39we're feeling confused, burnout, unsupported, fearful.
- 6:43So these things really all do coincide together and help you
- 6:47align all these things. This helps you also develop a
- 6:51personalized road map to live and lead from identity, not
- 6:55activity. Like I said earlier, I think I
- 6:56just said that. Sorry about that.
- 6:58It also helps you learn how to model and extend this support to
- 7:03other women around you. Again, it's what I already said
- 7:06about if they see you living it, they feel safe and honored and
- 7:11heard known to live it as well. So what this gives you when
- 7:16you're able to live out, feel personally and then bring it
- 7:19into your workplace and lead from this feel perspective.
- 7:23You step into unapologetic leadership knowing you deserve
- 7:27to be seen, known, and heard in every room you walk into.
- 7:31And then you're also giving your employees that sense.
- 7:35When you're in meetings together, there's no
- 7:37interrupting. Everyone's allowed to be heard.
- 7:40Everyone's supported in that, with clear ideas and
- 7:44perspectives shared. And you're not worried about
- 7:49whether you're the only one that's making the decisions or
- 7:53not. You're open to hearing others
- 7:55and then clearly talk about what works and doesn't work, about
- 7:58the different ideas. But there's this definite sense
- 8:02that not only you know you, you're not threatened by other
- 8:05ideas because you know in a confident in your ability to be
- 8:09seen, known and heard. So invite that in when you're in
- 8:12rooms with your employees, with other people, with other
- 8:14leaders. So again, it allows you to step
- 8:17into unapologetic leadership where your success is defined by
- 8:21authenticity, freedom and impact, not external other
- 8:27people's other businesses, other corporations expectations, but
- 8:32your own that you've developed out of your very solid core
- 8:36field framework lifeline, the way you're where you're doing
- 8:41your life. This will help you emerge with a
- 8:44new standard for living and leading that's grounded in power
- 8:49and ease and stability because your identity isn't coming from
- 8:53your how much power you have or success you have on the
- 8:58spreadsheet. Although if you live in a
- 9:00healthy way and, and come fully resource, that's going to
- 9:03happen. That's going to come.
- 9:04But you're, you're grounded in who you are.
- 9:07You trust your instincts, you trust your value.
- 9:11And so you're not waiting for other people's affirmations to
- 9:15confirm whether you're value aren't you already know that and
- 9:18you're living out of that and operating out of that and the
- 9:20fruits of your labor come out of that.
- 9:25So that is what a field leadership immersion looks like
- 9:30feels like if this I hope this was a good reminder to you today
- 9:35that this this way that we live it, it bleeds into all the parts
- 9:40of our lives. So it's really important like,
- 9:43you know, what if I am living this way, of course I want to
- 9:48invite other people into living this way too.
- 9:52But if I invite them into this, but I'm not providing a road map
- 9:55or direction or leadership or opportunity for them to step
- 9:59into that, then am I really leading from that space?
- 10:02So hopefully this this perks up some ideas in you for your to do
- 10:07this week. I want you to take a look at
- 10:09this framework and really see, OK, this is how I'm doing it in
- 10:14my personal life. How can, how am I doing this in
- 10:17my, in my work life? Am I leading this way in the
- 10:21same way? Or do I feel like I am, but I'm
- 10:24not seeing that from my employees?
- 10:27What is it that I can do to encourage them?
- 10:30Is there something that's happening in our meetings, our
- 10:32workspaces, my communication style that's holding me back or
- 10:38holding them back in somewhere? There's some areas that need to
- 10:41be, you know, if I have some really clear, great
- 10:43communication styles at home, but I don't carry those over
- 10:48into my workplace where I'm clearly delivering boundaries to
- 10:51my family and expectations to my family.
- 10:53What I expect of them, they expect of me.
- 10:56But I'm not doing that in the workplace.
- 10:57Why am I not doing that in the workplace?
- 10:59So just like see where the crossover is or if you're like,
- 11:02Melissa, I'm not even doing this in my own life, let alone in my
- 11:06leadership life. Well, let's start there.
- 11:08Let's get together, go to that contact form.
- 11:10Let's talk about how we get this going for you.
- 11:13Or if you're having like, I feel like I've got it, my personal
- 11:16life down, but I don't know how to, I don't know how to transfer
- 11:18this into the workplace. Again, let's get together, let's
- 11:21talk about it. Go to
- 11:22thatcontactform@embracinglayers.com. Check out the leadership
- 11:26immersion information on our website.
- 11:30But hopefully this gives you some ideas or maybe just some
- 11:32reminders of, of leading unapologetically with
- 11:37compassion, with grace, with empathy and with confidence.
- 11:40I call it a humble confidence where you know you deserve to be
- 11:45seen, known and heard, and you also are ready to learn and be
- 11:49curious from the people around you in this space as well.
- 11:53So it's a really, it's a humble confidence, a humbly confident
- 11:57leader who appears, sure appears really foundational in who they
- 12:03are and what their values are and also does so from a place
- 12:08of, of really support in an unapologetic living and
- 12:12invitation for others to be seen, known and heard.
- 12:15So I hope this again feels supportive to you.
- 12:19Remember, you are worthy, you are valuable, and you get to
- 12:23choose. Take good care of yourself.
- 12:26Check out this information on our website at
- 12:28embracinglayers.com. But take good care of yourself
- 12:31and we'll see you next time here on the Field podcast.
