- 0:00Oh, God. Oh, my God.
- 0:12She just likes being the face of the cast.
- 0:15Yeah, that's a I'm the.
- 0:18I mean, you literally are the only one on camera.
- 0:21That's true.
- 0:22If it makes you all feel better, we can turn our cameras off, too.
- 0:25Well, if it makes you feel better, I'm naked.
- 0:27So that's it. No, that's how we record.
- 0:30Usually we just do this for posterity sake and like propriety.
- 0:33Yeah, I don't know.
- 0:35Me and Donnie just like to watch.
- 0:37Just like Craig.
- 0:39Craig listens to Craig.
- 0:41That's right. He doesn't have eyes.
- 0:43Do you guys find that now that you've done this for any amount of time,
- 0:47the only gifts you are ever given by loved ones are Nicolas Cage themed?
- 0:50God, yes.
- 0:52I think I've only received like one or two Nicolas Cage gifts,
- 0:55but I'm not very loved.
- 0:57So I have two pillows, two picolas cage ornaments.
- 1:02Nipple cage.
- 1:03I have a nipple cage card.
- 1:04Oh, my God.
- 1:05I have the two pillow.
- 1:08No, three pillows, one hand towel,
- 1:12the pants, a Nicolas Cage sweater
- 1:15with his face on a bunch of cats and the the picolas
- 1:20cage ornament plus a picolas cage ornament.
- 1:23I like that.
- 1:25What does picolas cage look like?
- 1:28I'm guessing he has just some real juicy cake.
- 1:31Just dump truck. Yeah, he is.
- 1:34Big old fucking ass.
- 1:36This is just how he looked when he was in his 50s.
- 1:38You know, he was pretty fickle at that time.
- 1:40He was thick at that point.
- 1:43Well, thank you all for being on here.
- 1:46You know, you guys have one over on us and that you're all actually in the same room,
- 1:50something that we never do.
- 1:52But we're also all in Washington state.
- 1:55That's profound.
- 1:57So at this point, have you guys covered every two date
- 2:00Nick Cage movie that you just mentioned?
- 2:02We went chronological, unfortunately.
- 2:05Cowards.
- 2:08We started five years ago.
- 2:10So yeah, that must create like a real like unfortunate.
- 2:15I don't know, season three or four.
- 2:18Like when you really just get into like the tax time,
- 2:21you pay the ghost and shit like that.
- 2:24You can equate it really to Return of the King,
- 2:28where it's like at the very end when they're all sitting in the pub,
- 2:30it's like you've been and seen shit that these people will never experience
- 2:35in their lives and you are forever changed and bonded.
- 2:39That's the third one, right?
- 2:41Yes, that is the finale of the.
- 2:44Yeah, I always got like halfway through reading the Twin Towers and then like
- 2:48episode six, Return of the King. Yeah.
- 2:52Right. That's right.
- 2:54So I have a question because Nick and I talk about this constantly.
- 2:57Can you guys watch other media and have it not be weird and have it not be weird?
- 3:03I thought it was going to be about dicks.
- 3:04It's always not. I mean, yeah.
- 3:06Can you can you think about any other dick than Nick Cage?
- 3:10Whenever I watch a non Nick Cage movie now,
- 3:12I'm very confused as to why Nick Cage isn't in it. Yeah.
- 3:16I mean, we're kind of getting points with that with some movies
- 3:19where it's like, you know, Nicholas Cage would have been fun in this one.
- 3:21Not usually confused.
- 3:23Sometimes just grateful. Yeah.
- 3:26Yeah. Like watching that god awful.
- 3:29I think it was like season three of American Horror Story with Kathy Bates.
- 3:34I love Kathy Bates. She's one of my favorite actresses.
- 3:37But I thought like if they really had balls,
- 3:39they would have had Nicholas Cage play Madame Lallari.
- 3:41You already own her mansion. Why not?
- 3:48That would be nice.
- 3:48They wouldn't even have to like get him to leave home for a shooting episode.
- 3:54Yeah, exactly. He'd feel real comfortable.
- 3:57He'd just be shooting in his slippers.
- 3:58Like the retirement plan. Yeah.
- 4:00Look, you're going to need to hit at least five million dollars
- 4:03for him to put shoes on.
- 4:05That seems to be the going rate. Seven for pants.
- 4:08I like to imagine that you hit five million.
- 4:11It's like, OK, he's got shoes.
- 4:12We're not really, really ready to prepare or like to splurge on pants.
- 4:17It's in his writer.
- 4:18The extra two million is for me to take the shoes off to put the pants on.
- 4:21Oh, yeah. Right.
- 4:24That's how he gets you.
- 4:24He films in the wild, so don't tell him that he's filming.
- 4:29This is truffle pig.
- 4:32So I know this is something that like you're like, oh, yeah,
- 4:35yeah, so I know this is something that like you only have to.
- 4:39You have to see to appreciate.
- 4:41But we bought these mic stands fairly recently.
- 4:44And I'm really loving the fact that Sean's the only one that's so short
- 4:50that it's like pointed down at him.
- 4:52And it looks like he struggles to like lift his head to speak.
- 4:56Like you need to get the yellow pages for Sean to sit on.
- 5:01I am on a very tall stool. I'm not this big.
- 5:03Yeah. Yeah.
- 5:07I have you guys watch that the best times.
- 5:10The what? The TV pilot he did in 81 with the Crispin Glover
- 5:14and Frickin Jackie Mason.
- 5:17No, we have not watched this.
- 5:19This is real. It's all on YouTube.
- 5:21It's probably the only place you could see it.
- 5:23How long is it? It's an hour long.
- 5:25It's a TV pilot.
- 5:26We're going to we're going to check back with you guys in an hour.
- 5:28Wait here.
- 5:30We'll be back.
- 5:32No, that sounds fucking amazing.
- 5:33Yeah, I love it. Terrible.
- 5:35Oh, it is. It's terrible.
- 5:37You see what I'm saying? Look out.
- 5:39Here comes Nick. Exactly.
- 5:41Yeah, it's like an after school special from the 80s.
- 5:46Like written by kids for kids.
- 5:49Oh, my God. Kids are so dumb.
- 5:51Yeah, they're the worst.
- 5:53They don't know shit.
- 5:54And so is this show.
- 5:58OK, speaking of things that are absolutely the worst.
- 6:01Welcome back to Cage Match.
- 6:02Colon around about meeting Nicolas Cage.
- 6:04I'm Sean here with my cohost Nick.
- 6:06I'm Nick and our producer Peter. Hello.
- 6:09And we have three special guests this week.
- 6:11Why don't you guys introduce yourselves and tell us what you do
- 6:14and what you're from?
- 6:15Well, yeah, tell us who you are and why.
- 6:18Don't tell them your name, Linda.
- 6:21We're going to talk the shit out of everyone.
- 6:23My social security number is my greatest fear.
- 6:28And our podcast isn't it always
- 6:33that'll work for when our generation's blue hairs will just tell us
- 6:36we're on a podcast.
- 6:38And yeah, my name is Linda.
- 6:42I Linda Castro.
- 6:44I am from all we three are from cages.
- 6:47Kiss the Nicholas Cage podcast.
- 6:50Yeah, long running.
- 6:51You guys have been around since, what, 2017?
- 6:53I'm not. It only feels like, you know, 2019.
- 6:55Yeah, that makes more sense.
- 6:582010, 25.
- 7:00We've. Yeah, whatever.
- 7:02It all blends.
- 7:02COVID happened in there.
- 7:03That counts for 10 plus.
- 7:05Time stopped in 2020.
- 7:07Haven't we been doing this forever?
- 7:09Like I'm stuffed for me after the rock.
- 7:14That one's Donnie.
- 7:16I'm Adrian. Yeah.
- 7:18Hello, I am Donnie from Arby's.
- 7:20Well, it's better than the boy who blew on Pornhub,
- 7:24which is still going strong, apparently.
- 7:27You have to elaborate on what the fuck that is.
- 7:29Explanations, please.
- 7:30Yeah, you're right in my queue zone.
- 7:32I got to hear about that.
- 7:33We did an episode on the boy in blue.
- 7:36Oh, the greasy bottom boys.
- 7:38Yes. And I may have had a few drinks.
- 7:42We bought every disc on Amazon, apparently.
- 7:44Yeah.
- 7:45One of the reasons it cost over $60 on Amazon.
- 7:47I may have had a few drinkies and a few drinky poos.
- 7:53And I suddenly came up with the boy who blew
- 7:57and that led to the creation of a fan made the boy who blew Pornhub.
- 8:05Incredible.
- 8:06Which for a while, we told people, please, full of a God,
- 8:09don't find us and don't join us.
- 8:11But people be people.
- 8:13How about you, Adrian?
- 8:15But people be people.
- 8:18How popular is that channel now?
- 8:20I don't want to know.
- 8:23It's always weird when you pull up Pornhub and you're in a room
- 8:26and like, you know, you're pulling up Pornhub.
- 8:29But then first thing, it's like, boom, naked lady or dude, whatever.
- 8:33And it's like, oh, I can't let people see it.
- 8:35Like, no, wait, that's what I'm here for.
- 8:37Yeah. The boy who blew.
- 8:39Yeah. I mean, it's weird that you're not in the library doing it, but sure.
- 8:43Oh, man. Public libraries.
- 8:48Benjamin Franklin Gates, what are you doing?
- 8:49I was going to say, did one of your dogs just give a guffaw?
- 8:52That's my that's Benjamin Franklin Gates. OK.
- 8:55Also, since we lost that audio, thank you, Alison, for naming my dog.
- 8:59OK. Oh, burglary.
- 9:01Do you think they were cool crime jackets?
- 9:03I assume they were butt naked.
- 9:06Nice. With a black domino mask.
- 9:08You can't steal nothing unless you got the black domino mask.
- 9:11Yeah, you're right. You understand crime.
- 9:14Crime and criminals and criminals.
- 9:18Yeah. OK. Learned everything I know from swipers.
- 9:22No swiping.
- 9:26This podcast, we take my dog is
- 9:29we take your dog out back.
- 9:30Yeah. No, he's only a puppy.
- 9:33He didn't shit on the ground.
- 9:34Yeah, we take 64 in a cage movies,
- 9:36a bracket style, and we're going to decide what the best cage movie is
- 9:40is decided by Nick and me and the goalposts moves every episode.
- 9:46Yeah, that's pretty accurate.
- 9:47We are in the round of 32, which gets us to our slicks teen.
- 9:51Thirsty to I don't know.
- 9:54It's too much work. That was thirsty.
- 9:57God, you can really hear the dog drinking on these microphones.
- 10:00Get it, Ben.
- 10:01So color out of space.
- 10:08You know, so we've now watched these movies twice for the show.
- 10:12So it's kind of been an interesting experience
- 10:14going through all these and seeing them again.
- 10:17I don't know if you guys have really done a ton of extensive
- 10:19rewatching on any of these movies.
- 10:22Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 10:24This one we watched twice because we did a commentary once
- 10:27and then we did the for real episode.
- 10:29And today I just re listened to our episode being like, OK, what was
- 10:33what do we say?
- 10:33We write down some jokes.
- 10:35Yeah, they're fresh now.
- 10:37We don't know them. Yeah, that's true.
- 10:39Well, I'm going to save you guys some time.
- 10:40I'm not going to read it to you like I did to these two. So.
- 10:44OK, so so you've watched these movies a fair,
- 10:49fair handful of times, a fistful of cages.
- 10:53What when rewatching this, like, say for this episode or
- 10:57or just re listening to your own podcast to catch your own jokes and laugh again.
- 11:02I do do that. Yeah, I know.
- 11:04Do you do you find new things about it?
- 11:07Like, well, I don't know about you guys, but I have a really shitty memory
- 11:12when it comes to movies.
- 11:14So it's oh, I just have a really shitty memory for reasons.
- 11:18Sandwich reasons. Yeah.
- 11:21Take a dump, Ben.
- 11:23Sorry, Benjamin Franklin Gates just took a big well, I mean,
- 11:26big for a puppy dump on his little puppy pad thing.
- 11:28This puppy. He did do it.
- 11:30Is he going to eat it? Eat it.
- 11:34I'll be right back. You got to talk for me.
- 11:36I think Ben gave his commentary.
- 11:38That's the national treasure right there.
- 11:40You were saying something smarter than I was talking about dog shit.
- 11:45I doubt it.
- 11:49We actually I got a reminder a couple of days ago that was like, hey,
- 11:54remember this day so many years ago?
- 11:56And it was from when I saw this movie in the theater.
- 11:59And I was like, oh, hey, this is a great timing.
- 12:03That's nice.
- 12:04I'm amazed you've seen it in the theater.
- 12:06I feel like nobody went and actually watched this in the theaters.
- 12:10Yeah, they gave it a crummy release.
- 12:12Like they do that a lot.
- 12:14But it but it actually played in the North American box office,
- 12:16which most the cage movies of the 2010s didn't do.
- 12:19They just ship them to Eastern Europe and the United Arab Emirates for some reason.
- 12:23Yeah. Yeah, I got it.
- 12:25It did get an international theatrical release.
- 12:27It's just it just it didn't get as big in North America releases should have.
- 12:31Yeah. I don't know if that was just because the distribution or Richard Stanley,
- 12:35because he's he's kind of been that way with some of his films.
- 12:38They haven't really gotten a lot of big, big releases.
- 12:41I mean, well, he also hasn't done anything since Island, the Doctor Moreau.
- 12:45Really? So he's like your ultimate cult director for that.
- 12:48You know, like all this stuff's super obscure.
- 12:51Yeah, I don't know if you all were aware of this, but there is
- 12:54and the only format you can get this in because, well, of course, cassette tape.
- 12:59There is a audiobook version of The Color Out of Space,
- 13:02which is read by Richard Stanley.
- 13:05No freaking way. Yeah.
- 13:10You're fucking dog, man.
- 13:11He's a puppy.
- 13:12He's a popper.
- 13:15Chouin is a declaration of independence.
- 13:17Oh, my God.
- 13:18I really hope so.
- 13:20If only I did actually try and find like a chewable declaration of independence for him.
- 13:25But well, you just need to get like one of the squeaky newspaper toys
- 13:30and just write declarations.
- 13:32He's a dog.
- 13:33Actually, you don't even need to write anything on it.
- 13:34He's the dog. You can't read. That's true.
- 13:38Is that against the law to lie to a dog?
- 13:41I think you can lie to dogs.
- 13:44I think dogs should be allowed to vote.
- 13:47You know, it's better than the current system we have.
- 13:50Yeah. But no, I've watched this a couple of times because I love
- 13:54love of horror movies, but even more so, I really appreciate
- 13:58a lot of Lovecraftian style films because it's its own kind of subgenre
- 14:02and they can either be done really well or just you're better off
- 14:07not having seen it before.
- 14:08It's really an 85 15 split.
- 14:11It really is. Yeah.
- 14:12I remember hearing about this movie coming out about a year before it came out.
- 14:16And I remember being real excited because this is my favorite Lovecraft story.
- 14:20A lot of Lovecraft is not fun to read, but this one actually read pretty well.
- 14:25Sometimes a little bit racist.
- 14:28It was actually Color Out of Space that changed my mind on whether or not
- 14:32Nick Cage was a good actor and gave me the initial idea to do this podcast.
- 14:36I honestly liked him and his character in this.
- 14:38And I liked his kind of slow transition, but he still had that caginess of
- 14:43I'm going to do a really fucking amazing accent with this character.
- 14:46I like how like his craziness just involves him
- 14:50just changing every affectation about himself.
- 14:53And if I remember correctly, I think Linda had mentioned it
- 14:56when we watched the movie, too.
- 14:58He based the character voice on his father.
- 15:00Yes, that's that was my theory, because he he will in
- 15:06Vampire's Kiss.
- 15:07He said that he based that voice off of his his father,
- 15:11who was a literary professor.
- 15:14And in this, he's talking about how he never wants to be his father.
- 15:18And when he's like pretending to be his father, he uses the same Peter Low voice.
- 15:24And I think with a lot of Cage films, you can have you.
- 15:27You get an appreciation for the efficient auto that this man puts
- 15:32behind the word fuck that nobody really can top.
- 15:36I mean, true, has she kind of comes close to it?
- 15:39It's fun.
- 15:40But Cage just makes it artistic.
- 15:43Dead falls. Wonderful.
- 15:44Yeah. Dead.
- 15:46Oh, fuck.
- 15:50I just I was really excited for this movie because I mean, it's it's
- 15:55HP Lovecraft done right for once.
- 15:58And you have Richard Stanley.
- 16:01I mean, my God, that if there were ever a director
- 16:05that is like on the same level as Cage in the craziness factor,
- 16:10I you know, it's like a match made in heaven.
- 16:12It's still a shame that because he had a trilogy of films planned out
- 16:16and then immediately got canceled after this movie.
- 16:20Yeah. Well, he had like some abuse allegations.
- 16:23Who does it now?
- 16:25He got canceled.
- 16:26Well, the movie got canceled because he got.
- 16:27Right. They went down together.
- 16:30Well, if you just change your name, nobody can catch up with you
- 16:33and just constantly.
- 16:34Yeah, I'm Stan Richards.
- 16:36Not to do that.
- 16:37Let's go ahead with that trilogy.
- 16:39Like he did on the island of Doc Moro when he pretended to be an extra on the film.
- 16:44That's true.
- 16:45We've lost a lot of good movies, unfortunately, to not even like
- 16:48stuff like that, but just people in general just kind of
- 16:52dropping in headlines because I know those also.
- 16:55I still really have hope one day we might actually get it,
- 16:58but I know it won't happen.
- 16:59Guillermo de Toro's in the mountains madness.
- 17:01He's he's completely said he's done chasing that dream.
- 17:05Yeah. And I know I remember he first said he did when of all things,
- 17:09he saw the movie Prometheus and he's like, yeah, I can't do my movie now.
- 17:13This movie kind of did that.
- 17:14I'm like, please don't say that.
- 17:19Prometheus doesn't deserve that.
- 17:22No, I think this is a really nice movie.
- 17:24It's not even just the director, the cast, the music, which is beautiful.
- 17:29This just the color gradation.
- 17:32Absolutely. And how things slowly degrade throughout.
- 17:35It was just such a beautiful, beautiful transition where it wasn't rushed.
- 17:39I'm always astounded every time I watch this movie about just
- 17:43how good it looks on the budget.
- 17:45Yeah. How beautiful the CG and all of it.
- 17:49Definitely.
- 17:50No, it's all tasteful because everybody who worked on it was doing films
- 17:53in the 80s, you know, so like everybody, everybody
- 17:56actually knew what a movie looked like.
- 17:58They had to solve their problems without CGI.
- 18:00It's just, yeah.
- 18:01Well, and I love that it's it's not maybe not horror and like the usual like,
- 18:09I don't know, like a slasher flick or necessarily a monster flick way,
- 18:13but it's just purely unsettling.
- 18:16Absolutely. Tension building and gross.
- 18:20Yeah. The the villain, the enemy is always kind of unknown in this one,
- 18:25which is a nice change unless you want to say that weird praying mantis is the baddie.
- 18:31You don't want a villain with a quotable name like Bye Bye Man
- 18:34turning up in every movie.
- 18:35Why wouldn't you want that every time?
- 18:36I mean, it is good. It's best for marketing.
- 18:39I do market just a color T-Mobile.
- 18:45Oh, my God.
- 18:46Well, it's interesting.
- 18:48I know in my art school days, I always thought, how would I adapt
- 18:51this story if I wanted to adapt into something like how do you
- 18:54how do you make a color scary and how do you make it?
- 18:57How do you depict an unknowable color in a color medium?
- 19:02Magenta. Magenta.
- 19:04Yeah. Yeah. The most effective to me was those ice cubes.
- 19:07Like any time you saw that where he was pouring his whiskey or whatever.
- 19:10Bourbon bourbon enthusiast.
- 19:12Buck Scotch says this guy.
- 19:15Local bourbon drunk. Yeah.
- 19:19Maybe saw something. We don't know.
- 19:22I never said that.
- 19:25Tommy Chong, Tommy Chong.
- 19:28He is in this movie.
- 19:30His fucking like little mon recorded monologue at the end is still so good.
- 19:34And so, yeah, the sped up slowed down audio.
- 19:40Yes. Yeah.
- 19:41It makes me want to get a reel to reel just so I can leave notes.
- 19:45It's just a color.
- 19:48But it burns.
- 19:51I mean, he could be reading Dr.
- 19:52Seuss and still like with those effects, it's the creepiest goddamn thing in the world.
- 19:58Does anyone have a child's book with us right now?
- 20:01Like, can we read something and then speed up and slow down?
- 20:04It would only be appropriate for you to have a child's book.
- 20:07That's true. Yeah.
- 20:09I do not have a children's book.
- 20:11I've already brought up Pornhub on my phone.
- 20:13I'm not allowed to touch children's books for 12 hours.
- 20:16They'll put you on a list of you. Yeah.
- 20:18Yeah. That next knock is Chris Hansen.
- 20:22I have Charlie the Choo Choo.
- 20:24If you're familiar with that, that is not essentially a child's book,
- 20:28but it kind of is.
- 20:31Does it read like an old Thomas the Tank Engine story
- 20:35where they just brick up a train in a abandoned tunnel to make him watch forever?
- 20:42Kind of. Yes. OK.
- 20:44And if you look at the cover, there's kids that look like they're having a good time,
- 20:47but they're actually screaming. Oh, perfect.
- 20:49This is something that was made off of.
- 20:52I think it was the Dark Tower series. Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:55Nick Cage is the gunslinger. Oh, I want this.
- 20:58Oh, man. That would have been so beautiful.
- 21:02What? You don't want to keep Matthew McConaughey.
- 21:04We don't. He could still be the man in black.
- 21:07No, Nick Cage would be a great gunslinger, would be a great Roland.
- 21:12I mean, I love Idris Elba, but I mean,
- 21:15he's hard to beat. Nicholas Cage.
- 21:18Yeah. I mean, we saw it in Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. Yeah.
- 21:22Sorry. Spirit of Vengeance.
- 21:24Vengeance. Vengeance.
- 21:27Miami is Eastern Europe, the country.
- 21:33That's pretty accurate.
- 21:34This is a really surprising movie.
- 21:36I was really glad that it wasn't one of those recipes for disaster.
- 21:39And it was something that kind of in a funny way,
- 21:41I felt people started to take Cage a little seriously with it.
- 21:45And that kind of because you had like this and what we had pig after.
- 21:49And there are people like, oh, my God, he's not actually full on crazy all the time.
- 21:52He actually can do stuff.
- 21:54No, this is like
- 21:55right kind of when we're getting into what we call like the cage of songs,
- 21:58where he has his third or fourth act of his career,
- 22:03probably fourth, because the third would be the tax of the tax years.
- 22:08Yeah. And now we're in his final stages.
- 22:11I think we're like in fifth now with like scenario and.
- 22:14I hate a five act.
- 22:15We're nearing his final form.
- 22:17Oh, we'll get a six act.
- 22:18That's true. Prestige television. Right.
- 22:21Yeah. Do you think they'll be there'll be another trash fire in between then?
- 22:24And now do you think there'll be another kill chain?
- 22:26Yeah. Oh, of course.
- 22:27I mean, statistically speaking.
- 22:29Well, we do have that new horror movie he's supposed to be a part of to coming out.
- 22:33Oh, Long Legs.
- 22:34Also, the surfer, whatever that is, that's not going to be great.
- 22:37Oh, come on. That sounds awesome.
- 22:39I don't know. Surfer looks good.
- 22:40I don't know anything about it.
- 22:42Oh, but yeah, I feel like this is it's a beautiful movie.
- 22:46It's really unsettling and strong acting, especially from the kids like as like Jack.
- 22:53I mean, he's so young.
- 22:55He he's like, I don't know.
- 22:57I feel like it's always a grab bag with kids like who knows,
- 23:00you know, how they're how well they're going to do.
- 23:02Yeah. Most of the time, it's going to be awful, right?
- 23:04Yeah, because they're kids and they suck.
- 23:06Yeah, they're bad.
- 23:07I don't know how to act.
- 23:09Kids bad cops bad.
- 23:12Yeah, OK. Nicholas Cage. Good. Good. Yeah.
- 23:15All right. We got we got we got our bearings.
- 23:18That's our first T-shirt. Yeah.
- 23:20Kids bad cops bad. Nicholas Cage. Good. Yeah.
- 23:24Yeah, we do need some merch.
- 23:25Yeah, I'm still saying Garland Green did nothing wrong.
- 23:29Perfect cage match.
- 23:30Garland Green 2024.
- 23:33Yeah, Garland Green did nothing wrong.
- 23:36Except for when he's a lieutenant, then he's bad.
- 23:38It's in the title, people come on.
- 23:41Battle Lieutenant Port of Call.
- 23:43New Orleans, New Orleans has kind of a similar arc to Vampire's Kiss
- 23:47in terms of how.
- 23:49Over the top, he gets by the end.
- 23:50Don't transition to Vampire's Kiss yet.
- 23:53And don't put those two movies in the same sentence.
- 23:56One of them is pure gold, and the other one is.
- 23:59I do miss a guanavision.
- 24:02You get that movie's name out your mouth.
- 24:04Oh, I'm a big
- 24:08Abo Ferrera fan, so it gave me the help.
- 24:10Why was his soul a black guy?
- 24:13It's like the reverse Darth Vader.
- 24:15I guess.
- 24:18No, I do love this movie, and I do love that.
- 24:20It's it is like a little ridiculous as well.
- 24:24I mean, they have like I mean, he's milking alpacas.
- 24:27Got to get it hot from the teeth.
- 24:29Drinks it straight from from the boob.
- 24:31From the boob.
- 24:35One of the great things about this, though, is Cage has done so many movies
- 24:38with the family shit just sort of shoehorned in there
- 24:40because he wants to have dad moments, dad, kid moments.
- 24:43And in this one, he's a dad who becomes unhinged and says hurtful
- 24:46shit to his kids. It's such a plus.
- 24:48It's so real.
- 24:50Just like mom and dad.
- 24:54I bet Weston was watching this like too close, man.
- 24:57Or Weston.
- 25:01That's OK, Weston.
- 25:03You're the voodoo child.
- 25:06Why can't it be more like your brother, Jor-El? Yeah.
- 25:11Which one is the like bodyguard looking one and which one is not?
- 25:15Weston's the one that Sean made fun of for being fat.
- 25:18Oh, OK. Weston is who I was thinking of to then.
- 25:21He's the fat metal kid. Yeah.
- 25:23This is kind of like Exorcist three for me, where it's like when you've seen it
- 25:27and you know that scene that comes up eventually with the nurse
- 25:29in the hallway and the shears, you know, it's coming.
- 25:32It's still creepy.
- 25:34I still get the same vibes in this when you have the wife,
- 25:36when she's just losing it and at the cutting board.
- 25:39Oh, yeah. I can't watch that scene.
- 25:41Going and going.
- 25:44I forgot the series of events towards the end.
- 25:48When shit's going off, he kills the mom, son monster,
- 25:53goes down, has a drink with his family, watches some TV,
- 25:56gets shot in the back by the sheriff, by the sheriff,
- 26:00but comes back to life to try and kill Howard to kill Ward Ward.
- 26:05Yeah. Is his name Howard Howard? Howard.
- 26:08I never knew. Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:11Howard Phillips.
- 26:12I think his full name in the credits was Ward Phillips.
- 26:15You mean Howard Phillips? Yeah.
- 26:17Yeah, that made me confused.
- 26:20Well, his name is supposed to be Howard Phillips.
- 26:22I get it. You read the book.
- 26:23I didn't read the book.
- 26:25No, he's not in the book. I mean, it's his character.
- 26:27It's given up sometime in the movie.
- 26:30I don't remember when I do love how they made.
- 26:33They named the one black character after the very famous racist.
- 26:38Yeah. And then had him live.
- 26:41Buck tradition. Yeah, I do like that.
- 26:43No. Fuck racists and cops.
- 26:47There's an overlap. That Venn diagram is about the same.
- 26:49Yeah. You're saying the same thing, Peter.
- 26:52Well, you thought he was an English gentleman.
- 26:53He was Elliot Roger in 1930. You know, even for his time, though,
- 26:57other races were like, dude, you're making us look bad.
- 27:01Reading somebody's letters posthumously seems like reading
- 27:05somebody's text messages like after they die.
- 27:08And that's something I don't need. Yeah.
- 27:10I don't need Sean to know what I say to you about him and vice versa.
- 27:14Don't ask. Yeah, I won't tell.
- 27:16Most of us are content to let those die with us.
- 27:19But then you get like H.L.
- 27:20Menken's who say, no, no, 60 years after I die on Earth, these.
- 27:24So my opinion, my public opinion will just die
- 27:27and everybody will realize I was a piece of crap.
- 27:29I'm pretty sure that like my recorded cause of death
- 27:33will be swallowing my phone.
- 27:36Like I'm going to be like, oh, fuck, the end is near.
- 27:39Swallow it. Leave no evidence. Hide the crime. Yeah.
- 27:43You know, that's just straight to the butt.
- 27:45Don't put nothing on that cloud.
- 27:47The best part about dying is if everyone finds out they can't do anything about it.
- 27:51No, I mean, in general, like, I don't know.
- 27:53This movie is it's fun.
- 27:54It's beautifully shot.
- 27:56Like, was there anything that really was gained from watching it the second time?
- 28:00I've watched the movie like five times now, and I always enjoy it.
- 28:04I don't know that there's anything really new I came to with this watching.
- 28:09Yeah. I mean, I I think it's artistically really good and it's fun.
- 28:13And I love the performances.
- 28:16It suffers a little bit in the dialogue.
- 28:19It just does. I don't know.
- 28:20And the Vinius sucks.
- 28:21Well, yeah, she fuck. Oh, my God.
- 28:24I want to talk about her stupid ass wiccaness again.
- 28:27Or Alexandrian. That would be wrong.
- 28:29Was it Alexandria? No, it was Wiccan.
- 28:32Well, when we made her, she goes zero to bitch in like 10 seconds.
- 28:35It's amazing. You immediately know she sucks.
- 28:38Well, this is why she summoned these demons and come on.
- 28:42Yeah, it's all her fault.
- 28:44It is her fault.
- 28:45Yeah, she's the worst.
- 28:47Oh, I got a big question.
- 28:48Linda, did you cover this movie in Bedknobs and Brimstone?
- 28:52For Flicks? No, we did cover.
- 28:57Well, we came on to Cage's Kiss to do to cover season of The Witch. Oh, well.
- 29:06Why did you remind me of that fucking thing?
- 29:08We're going to definitely watch that one.
- 29:10Yeah. Oh, God, I'll make your dick hurt.
- 29:12You need a doctor at that movie.
- 29:14Oh, that's a stellar review.
- 29:17There were choices made in that movie.
- 29:21You have some brilliant actors with like naturally European accents
- 29:26and being forced to give these weird like Boston accents.
- 29:33It's the only accent that Cage can do.
- 29:35Yeah, it is a perfect Boston accent.
- 29:37Yeah, I mean, Cage tries for the accent and like,
- 29:41I think it lasts for maybe five minutes.
- 29:43Sounds right. Incredible.
- 29:45So long. I do accents in my D&D games.
- 29:49Let's go Red Sox.
- 29:52Speaking of racists.
- 29:55So what's the deal with the race?
- 30:00What's the deal with the races?
- 30:04With the Deathly Hallows symbol all over this movie, I mean, it's like
- 30:09in Levinia's hair, she's got like a hair clip.
- 30:11That's like the Deathly Hallows.
- 30:13You got the triangle with the line going down the middle.
- 30:16And then there's the attic window where the mom works.
- 30:22It's same thing.
- 30:24J.K. Rowling stole everything she's ever made.
- 30:27I don't think she stole it from this movie.
- 30:29No, but I mean, that symbol is not this movie transcends time.
- 30:35I like it within the lore of Lovecraft, the Lovecraft mythos.
- 30:39There is the Necronomicon.
- 30:42It is Muscatonic Muscatonic University.
- 30:45There's one copy of it.
- 30:46It's there.
- 30:48And she's just got like off the bookshelf.
- 30:50Yeah, like a paperback version of it.
- 30:53Yeah, which they do make.
- 30:54I wasn't made with people's skin like, come on.
- 30:57I have sold one of those.
- 30:58Yeah, there's the there's the book you'll find in the stores.
- 31:01That's calls itself the necromancy.
- 31:02I sold it at Barney when I worked at Barnes and Noble.
- 31:05Yeah, that's where I go for all of my
- 31:07food.
- 31:08Say, honestly, that would be really,
- 31:10that would be really fun to go to a library and say,
- 31:12you want to check out the necronomic on.
- 31:14They give you a book bound in human flesh written in blood.
- 31:19I want the audio tapes and ancient Sumerian.
- 31:22I'm sorry, I wanted the paperback version.
- 31:25Oh, no.
- 31:27That one's just made a foreskin.
- 31:29Where do you guys put this movie on the grid?
- 31:32Good, bad, bad, good, good, bad, bad, good, bad, bad.
- 31:35Pretty high. Yeah.
- 31:37This was one of those like rare oasis is in the Caged Desert.
- 31:41You know, like I think we all breathe the sigh of relief when we got to it.
- 31:45Yeah, this for me was kind of like because in our show, I always read
- 31:49the most wonderful reviews people have for these films.
- 31:54And they always tend to say no matter how bad this movie sucked,
- 31:58they always compare it to the rock.
- 32:00That is their standard of greatness.
- 32:03We're and that's kind of where I'm at with this.
- 32:05I know it's like this is this is the rock for me, for those people.
- 32:09It's like this was my I love this with cage.
- 32:11It was perfect with him.
- 32:13He was wonderful in it.
- 32:15And I didn't feel like wanting to stab my eyes out after I saw it
- 32:18like Wicker Man.
- 32:19Hmm. Sorry.
- 32:21I mean, at least in Wicker Man, he did kick someone.
- 32:24And that was kind of lots of people.
- 32:27He kicked Lili Sobieski in the tummy.
- 32:32Tum Tum. Right in the tum tum.
- 32:34Zeke on our show, we got it.
- 32:36We got an animated intro and it has it has my animation of cage
- 32:40punching sister beach from for the.
- 32:43I love that still that and Jessica that and Jessica Beale blowing up
- 32:47are my two just favorite things. Yes.
- 32:52I have a good time.
- 32:53Find find our next episode and just listen to Peter lose.
- 32:56Oh, my God. Yeah, I could not handle that episode.
- 32:59We really hit a certain pocket that tickled me tickling your.
- 33:05You guys are all right.
- 33:09What do you guys think on this movie?
- 33:10I still love it.
- 33:12I think I think there are parts of it that are a little overlogged.
- 33:15I think the middle kind of takes a while, but by and large,
- 33:19I still thoroughly enjoyed this film.
- 33:21Yeah, I think it's still a lot of fun.
- 33:23It's kind of a niche watch.
- 33:25I don't think I could just throw it on any time,
- 33:28but I enjoy it when I watch it.
- 33:31So when I'm ready for it, I'm going to have a good time.
- 33:34Yeah. Terrific performance by Nick.
- 33:38He just like get some really good deliveries.
- 33:41There's some really, I don't know, just weird shit happening.
- 33:44Like talking about milking alpacas alpaca boobs,
- 33:48dunking tomatoes into the trash can. Oh, man. Yeah.
- 33:51What is that smell?
- 33:55You know, the cancer smell, you know, you know, they're better than anybody.
- 33:59Yeah. What a dick comment. Yeah.
- 34:02Yeah. Right. Like what an asshole.
- 34:05You you know, my my cancerous wife, you know, that smell.
- 34:09Remember how bad your boobs smelled?
- 34:12Oh, he's a leg man. Yeah.
- 34:15I do still love that line about like if she had no legs,
- 34:23you could just put her in his carry on luggage and take her wherever.
- 34:30Well, I like I don't know.
- 34:31I thought I thought that part was kind of sweet.
- 34:34Like he's he's like just letting her know.
- 34:37Like she of course, she had a mastectomy, must have.
- 34:40And now he's like, hey, I'm always going to love you.
- 34:43Yeah, it's definitely one of those scenes and one of those dialogues
- 34:46where you do actually get some of his
- 34:49pre coloring personality and, you know, what makes that family kind of work?
- 34:55Like that's the wife's cancer and the grandpa's goggles are the two things.
- 35:01I'm like, there had to be more to this at one point, because with especially
- 35:05with the cancer, because we're getting to body horror later and they don't really
- 35:08like, you know, she feels about her body because of the surgery,
- 35:13but they never really do anything with that.
- 35:16Oh, man. Do you think there were like even more boob analogies and like
- 35:21metaphors like with the milking alpacas?
- 35:24Yeah. Big alpaca blob monster. Yeah.
- 35:28That's why he got the alpacas because he needed some tits. Right.
- 35:35I'll make sense now.
- 35:36Seriously, how great would that have been if he did that?
- 35:38If he had the alpaca monster, he's like, OK, son, go in there and milk it.
- 35:42What if the mom had gotten merged with the alpacas
- 35:45and then mom could have had thousands of nipples?
- 35:48She'd still be alive. Yeah.
- 35:50He wants to. Yeah.
- 35:53You're still my golden llama.
- 35:56The wife with a thousand young.
- 36:00Oh, God.
- 36:01No, but I do love that they show that they're very much in love.
- 36:04They're still horny for each other.
- 36:06And it seems like a somewhat happy family.
- 36:10And I mean, they seem pretty cool with having Ezra
- 36:16squatting on their their farm.
- 36:18Yeah, except Lavinia, who repeatedly sucks. True.
- 36:22Yeah, she's the worst.
- 36:23I don't know.
- 36:24Yeah. Jack's cool.
- 36:26The Vinny and the one is just like a stoner.
- 36:28Whatever. Yeah. Yeah.
- 36:30Lavinia blows.
- 36:31I mean, if you have Tommy Chong living on your farm,
- 36:35yeah, you're going to smoke pot with them. I know.
- 36:37Like he's got the fucking dank as shit.
- 36:41Come on. Yeah, he's got the good shit.
- 36:43Yeah. You want to come over her coffee?
- 36:45You know, I don't even think they hired him for this movie.
- 36:47He just moved out there after he got out of jail. Yeah.
- 36:50He's just living on that land and they were filming.
- 36:51Yeah. Like Tommy, just say some weird shit when you're high.
- 36:54We record you. Yeah.
- 36:57OK, man. What do you want to name that?
- 37:02Thanks for letting me squat on your land, man.
- 37:04Hey, whatever you do, don't Google my name, OK?
- 37:08So, yeah, we usually put this up on.
- 37:12We call it a Venn diagram, but it's been pointed out to us
- 37:15that it is very much not a Venn diagram.
- 37:17It is more of a grid. Yeah. Matrix.
- 37:19It is quadrants of good movie.
- 37:22Good cage. Bad movie.
- 37:24Bad cage. And they're within and what nots.
- 37:28I don't have to explain this.
- 37:29That's why we already talked about it, too.
- 37:31Yeah, but we didn't. Do we finish it?
- 37:34I mean, you guys didn't say your things. I go.
- 37:36OK, good movie. There we go.
- 37:37Good. Good. Nicholas Cage performance. Good movie. Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:41Well, another one knocked out of the park.
- 37:43Nailed it. We're pros.
- 37:47Do we have anything else we want to say about this film before we move on?
- 37:50I think we could talk about it for an entire evening.
- 37:54But I think we've kind of gotten to it.
- 37:56We've milked this llama.
- 37:58All packers are different.
- 37:59We miss milk this alpaca for all it's worth boobs.
- 38:02Yeah, it's it's a fun film.
- 38:05And it brought Richard Stanley back to like he he said that Nicholas Cage
- 38:12brought him back to Hollywood and renewed his faith in Hollywood.
- 38:15He was hiding on a mountain in France.
- 38:18Did he do something after this?
- 38:20No, he got canceled after this. Oh, that's right. Right.
- 38:22As he was supposed to do the he had he had planned to do the Dunwich
- 38:25Horror and Call of Cthulhu. Yeah, he did.
- 38:30And we won't get those.
- 38:32Yeah. Well, maybe someone else will do them poorly.
- 38:36Yeah. Traditionally, that's how it goes.
- 38:39Just do what Lion Gates, Lionsgate did.
- 38:41Take a terrible Uli Lamel movie shot in a basement that's just about torture
- 38:46and then just call it H.P. Lovecraft's The Tomb and never explain it.
- 38:48Hmm. It's kind of the same thing with Dagon.
- 38:51It's just you can't really it's hard.
- 38:53You just make your own interpretation, especially for a monster that in the end,
- 38:56it's just kind of you're told is horrific, but nothing really other specific.
- 39:01I mean, we're all in sort of the same area.
- 39:04Do you want to start a Kickstarter?
- 39:06Let's do it. Let's just finish the trilogy.
- 39:10Fuck it. I don't know shit about anything.
- 39:12And we've managed to do this for 40 episodes.
- 39:14So why not? Let's let's go, baby.
- 39:19Trust me. I've watched enough poorly made shark
- 39:22films that were made for literally five hundred dollars.
- 39:25And if those can get distribution, follow your dreams.
- 39:29We'll just have to get I mean, all Lovecraft stories are public domain.
- 39:33Hey, so is Mickey Mouse now.
- 39:35I'm not going to die on that hill yet.
- 39:37They're trying some they're trying some chicanery.
- 39:39Yeah, I wouldn't fuck with Disney.
- 39:42They'll kill you.
- 39:44So vampires.
- 39:45There's 30 years in the past.
- 39:48We usually find some odd connection between the two movies
- 39:52and I like there's a through line to be drawn from Vampire's Kiss
- 39:57to Color Out of Space.
- 39:59Like we wouldn't get this movie or this performance if we didn't get Peter
- 40:03Lowe and didn't get his initial that character.
- 40:08This is the first all out crazy cage performance that we got.
- 40:13Yeah, Peggy Sir got married was sort of the test run, but this is where it really took wing.
- 40:18I mean, he wanted to get a real bat for fuck's sake.
- 40:22Exactly. Yeah.
- 40:23I mean, he had his moments throughout.
- 40:25So Peggy Sue is a good one.
- 40:28What was the why does he love so much?
- 40:30Racing with the racing with the moon.
- 40:32He got to do some of that kind of insanity.
- 40:33Oh, yeah. No, you're right.
- 40:35He was some of the insanity in that time to rip out his own teeth.
- 40:39Oh, God damn it.
- 40:41So, I mean, he played around with it, but this was the first time
- 40:43that he had to really be like crazy, completely unhinged,
- 40:47totally fucking lunatic.
- 40:49Well, it also fucking with the random people on the New York streets.
- 40:53It's a non union movie.
- 40:55So they're shooting without permits with people who don't know they're in a movie.
- 40:59And you can really tell when people look at some of those scenes
- 41:01as he's like dragging the steak around with him.
- 41:04You know, those mimes.
- 41:05They were in a movie. God, I love those mimes.
- 41:08I hate those mimes.
- 41:09I hate mimes.
- 41:11Those goddamn mimes.
- 41:13The torches of the town.
- 41:16The domestic violence mimes.
- 41:22Well, you also get to see that like silent, like the actually
- 41:26German expressionistic acting where he like
- 41:31he had the same thing going on for like he had the Nosferatu
- 41:36hands in the attempted murder scene and Peggy Sue.
- 41:39And now he's just like living his dream with the whole vampires.
- 41:45Because Robert Beerman, the director, really was into letting him go for it.
- 41:49God bless him. You know, like that was it was the best choice he could have made
- 41:54to do what Nicholas Cage just do it.
- 41:56Yeah, I was thoroughly impressed when he's starting to lose his shit.
- 42:00And he like chases Alva through
- 42:03or like down the stairs before down the stairs
- 42:06when he chases her into the bathroom the first time.
- 42:07And he just does that standing just leap onto the desk in loafers.
- 42:12Yeah, you've been doing box jumps.
- 42:13I've been doing box jumps that in easy.
- 42:15There you are.
- 42:19Oh, I brought you soup.
- 42:21Yeah, just the back of the suit like dry.
- 42:24I can love it.
- 42:26I've got to say, I've had some really awful,
- 42:29god awful bosses, and this is just triggering as hell.
- 42:33I mean, TST
- 42:36like was his excuse.
- 42:38So, oh, I just tried miscalin for the first time.
- 42:41And she's like, I did too in high school.
- 42:45You know, I understand.
- 42:47And he's like, cool, cool.
- 42:49Also, fuck you. Come into work late.
- 42:51Yeah. She overshares with her boss
- 42:55too much, like telling him that she did masculine in high school,
- 42:59like when he's at her house being like, oh, well, yeah, OK.
- 43:03I wasn't really sick.
- 43:04It's like, bitch, stick to your life. Yeah.
- 43:07It's like my boss is going to my boss is crazy and might rape and kill me.
- 43:12We're not going to pay your rent anymore.
- 43:14Go to your job. You need that job.
- 43:16And then the next day she comes home, she goes straight to a room,
- 43:19doesn't come out. Her mom's like, come out of your room.
- 43:21Breakfast is ready. I don't know what's wrong with that girl.
- 43:24Hey, bitch, fucking eggs.
- 43:26And then immediately it's like, hey, brother, do a murder for me.
- 43:30And he's like, I will.
- 43:34That's family. Yeah, that's how family works, right?
- 43:36Yeah. Yeah.
- 43:39I'd like to think Donnie would avenge me.
- 43:41You mean if I got if it's on Tuesday, sure.
- 43:45Yeah. Tuesdays are usually pretty open.
- 43:47Yeah. Just got to know.
- 43:48You don't want to fuck with your weekend.
- 43:49Do your best to die on a Monday. Yeah. Come on, Linda.
- 43:52Yeah, I want that week.
- 43:53Oh, the dollar in this movie was fun.
- 43:57Like it wasn't it was insane.
- 44:00I don't know.
- 44:01There was so much that kind of bordered on the surreal
- 44:04that I really like going on with this drunk and horny.
- 44:08I think I was talking about that earlier.
- 44:10Yeah, I just love like how that's an excuse.
- 44:12It's like, well, you know, I was kind of drunk and it was a little bit horny.
- 44:17You know how you can be.
- 44:18Yeah, it's like, oh, shit. Yeah, I have been drunk and horny.
- 44:21That doesn't excuse it.
- 44:22It's therapist.
- 44:23We get yeah, we get Elizabeth Ashley as this therapist.
- 44:26And and later, Elizabeth Ashley as his hallucinated therapist,
- 44:30which is even better.
- 44:32How many times have you guys watched this film?
- 44:34Oh, we watched it a lot.
- 44:35Getting ready to record this movie where we did.
- 44:37We went through it all.
- 44:38And the movie, the movie, in terms of how it all hangs together,
- 44:42is kind of a train wreck, but you still kind of delight in what
- 44:45and what you wound up with.
- 44:46You know, I remember every watch and we were doing the Renfield episode.
- 44:51Weird because he's not a vampire in this movie.
- 44:54Allegedly. Yeah. Yeah.
- 44:58I mean, he says it a lot.
- 44:59I don't know. I'm a vampire. I'm a vampire.
- 45:01I'm a vampire. I'm a vampire.
- 45:05There was a there was some confusion last time we recorded
- 45:07this as to whether or not he was speaking of confusion
- 45:10because you are with cage now.
- 45:14I have to ask this, though, it may not be something you may remember.
- 45:18Linda, you know what I'm going to talk about, right?
- 45:20No. Right.
- 45:22The are you talking about pasties?
- 45:24No, about the confusion as to the actor who played the main in Rockula.
- 45:30Yeah. Rockula.
- 45:31Oh, God. Have you seen the movie Rockula? No.
- 45:36The dude is a dead ringer for Nicolas Cage.
- 45:39He is the longest time we thought Nicolas Cage was in the film Rockula.
- 45:44It is about a vampire who rocks, who runs a nightclub that rocks out.
- 45:50He does 90s style rap like white guy.
- 45:53Well, he's a new metal. He does rock.
- 45:55Okay, yeah.
- 45:59This movie has amazing things.
- 46:01That's awesome. Has
- 46:04Thomas Dolby is pretty amazing.
- 46:07Yeah, but but he really is a vampire, but he's also the DJ.
- 46:13That's all good vampires are.
- 46:14Yeah. It'll change your life.
- 46:18Now, this is a this is a good descent into madness movie.
- 46:21I really like that.
- 46:21And I wasn't expecting that because I remember I remember I was a kid in a video store.
- 46:27I think we had rented this long, long back and just a little bit stuck with me.
- 46:31And I remember being bored as hell with this because I'm like, I wanted a horror movie.
- 46:35This is not a horror movie.
- 46:37We watching it as an adult and watching again and again and again.
- 46:42It's just I it made me appreciate
- 46:45how well Cage can do descents like that,
- 46:48yeah, because it's just some some actors and actresses don't really grasp that.
- 46:53But he just he goes for it.
- 46:55Yeah. I could really see that.
- 46:56The first time I watched this movie was on an airplane.
- 47:01That's right. Terrible way to watch.
- 47:03Yeah. Yeah. I had the aisle seat and I like turned it on and I was like,
- 47:07well, I got to watch this so we can record when I get back from this trip.
- 47:11And it starts going. I'm like, OK, maybe maybe this isn't right.
- 47:15And then it starts going like just boobs all over.
- 47:18And I was like, fuck.
- 47:19Like the flight attendant was coming up and I'm like trying to cover up my laptop
- 47:24so she can't see and make inferences that I'm obviously whacking off.
- 47:31But then the guy across the aisle leans over.
- 47:33He's like, I love this movie.
- 47:36And he's like watching it on my laptop, too.
- 47:38It's like, OK, that's somehow weird.
- 47:40Hey, he was lucky when people are watching shit.
- 47:42I could see it on their plane.
- 47:43It's goddamn kid's shit.
- 47:45But I've never heard of like, what is this?
- 47:47I want to slap the tablet on the kid's hand and like, you damn jimsy kids,
- 47:51you don't know what you want.
- 47:53Watch vampires kiss.
- 47:55Why can't you watch something wholesome?
- 47:57Yeah.
- 47:58I'm as kiss with Jennifer Beals and pasties.
- 48:05Thinking of watching things on the plane,
- 48:06me and my sister were on our way to our grandfather's funeral on a plane,
- 48:11and I brought a portable DVD player and me and her were going to share earbuds
- 48:15and we were going to watch House of a Thousand Corpses.
- 48:19Oh, yeah. And I hadn't plugged in the air phones yet.
- 48:22And I forgot there was animation on the menus like they do.
- 48:25Oh, yeah, there is.
- 48:26It started up.
- 48:28Everyone on the plane heard, well, shit the bed.
- 48:32It's like, oh, awesome.
- 48:36So, Nick, going back to this film, did you like pick up
- 48:38any new subtext or things we missed the first time around?
- 48:43I don't know if I picked up anything new.
- 48:45It was it's just incredible to me that every second
- 48:50that Nicolas Cage is on screen, which is like the whole movie, is a banger.
- 48:55Every like every delivery rules.
- 48:59The writing is just incredible.
- 49:02This is the most memed up with him as the priest in the beginning of Face Off.
- 49:07Yep. Yeah. And Wicker Man.
- 49:10This is where we got the name for our podcast.
- 49:12I mean, yeah, it's a fucking it's such a fun movie.
- 49:15And I really thoroughly enjoyed it more this time than the first time.
- 49:19Having kind of knowing where it was going, how it all connected to my first time
- 49:22watching it, I'm like, what the fuck is this?
- 49:24It's so just completely unhinged and doesn't make any sense.
- 49:28And I was watching it today and it started to, you know, get a little weird.
- 49:32Still early on. I just thought.
- 49:34What are the symptoms of rabies?
- 49:36And I looked them up and they're all there.
- 49:40Like, oh, that's what this movie.
- 49:42He just got back.
- 49:43He just got bat bit and has rabies and he got bat bit and a little bit horny.
- 49:48Yeah. Listen, we all get a little drunk and a little horny.
- 49:51And I was fighting the bat and I got a little horny.
- 49:57But that's like put this whole thing in a weird like in a new perspective.
- 50:00Like, oh, this movie isn't just crazy.
- 50:02Unhinged doesn't make any sense.
- 50:03There's a full through line and it makes perfect sense.
- 50:06And it's actually kind of a sedate film when you look at it like that.
- 50:10Just a man in a health crisis. Yeah.
- 50:12I feel like there's also something to be said in there about like his
- 50:16his relationship with women. Yeah.
- 50:18And like he just cannot stand the thought of being
- 50:23like rejected by a woman.
- 50:25So he goes through them like tissues. Ew.
- 50:28Even has his literal dream woman.
- 50:31And he ends up calling her a cunt in like five minutes.
- 50:37That's the cherry on top.
- 50:38I love that.
- 50:39Like even even in your even in your mind, even in your fever dream, you feel
- 50:43she even likes the baldy.
- 50:45He likes the baldy and Asian food.
- 50:47It's so refreshing.
- 50:49Japanese food is very refreshing.
- 50:52And eating cockroaches is very refreshing.
- 50:55Even when they're stink bugs.
- 50:56Oh, yeah. Water bugs.
- 50:58I got called out for that one last time. Yeah.
- 51:00Yeah. What's the difference
- 51:03between a stink bug and a water bug?
- 51:04No water bug and a roach.
- 51:06I can't remember the type of bug it is.
- 51:08The amount of water inside of its body.
- 51:10Science.
- 51:11So you don't know is what you're saying.
- 51:14Correct. I don't need to know.
- 51:16You just know I'm wrong. Yeah.
- 51:17Yeah, we're not fact checking you in any real way.
- 51:20We know originally is supposed to be a raw egg.
- 51:23And he was like, I just don't think that would give the same punch.
- 51:27And so he's the one who made the decision to eat.
- 51:30I want to eat a roach. Yeah.
- 51:32And there were two takes.
- 51:34God, and the way he like, choose it and.
- 51:36Oh, I mean, this is.
- 51:39My opinions are pretty clear.
- 51:42I think a lot in this.
- 51:44This movie is fucking incredible.
- 51:45And I struggle to think that there's a movie that I'm going to
- 51:51take further than this.
- 51:53I mean, we'll have to see, obviously.
- 51:55That's the whole point of this show. But
- 51:58his commitment to every moment on screen, it's.
- 52:03He's fucking in it.
- 52:05This movie grew. It's electrifying.
- 52:07It's he's got just magnetism that I can't stop watching.
- 52:12It's one.
- 52:13I mean, it's so rare, but it's a it's a movie that I don't look at my phone
- 52:17while I'm watching it. Yeah.
- 52:19It's just something I can't miss. Yeah.
- 52:22I think about that fucking dumbass scene when he shoots himself in the mouth
- 52:26and then just goes,
- 52:27you know, boo hoo boo hoo boo hoo.
- 52:32That would have actually killed somebody.
- 52:34Oh, yeah. A blank blank would.
- 52:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:38Yeah, the wadding. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:39No, yeah, the wad.
- 52:41The wads always get.
- 52:42Hmm. That's how it gets you in the mouth. Yeah.
- 52:46Somebody shoots a wad in your mouth at that velocity.
- 52:51It is. I.
- 52:55I love that they drugged a pigeon
- 52:58and let him catch a drugged pigeon without telling him that they drugged it.
- 53:02They just like go get a pigeon.
- 53:04Yeah. How long do you think was out there before they're just like,
- 53:06fucking drug a pigeon and just just kick it out there?
- 53:09Just put it on a balloon.
- 53:10You think you actually ate that pigeon? Yeah, 100 percent.
- 53:12Yeah. Method actor. Yeah.
- 53:15If you were filming.
- 53:16I do like when he goes to buy when he goes to buy the vampire teeth
- 53:20and he doesn't have any cash, but you can see his MX in the wallet.
- 53:25That was 88.
- 53:26Maybe they didn't want to take card fare.
- 53:28Those cheapies are so fucking weak, though.
- 53:31They're so good. They were perfect for the movie, though.
- 53:35And then he and then he bites Larry Cohen's daughter.
- 53:38Is that right? Oh, yeah.
- 53:40That's who that was. Yeah.
- 53:42No, no.
- 53:42Every every woman who shows up in this movie is actually like like significant.
- 53:47You know, like you get Maria Caccina Alonso, you get Cassie Lemons, the director,
- 53:51and you get fucking Jennifer Beals, the flash dance, and it was with Ashley,
- 53:55who was in all those Burt Reynolds movies.
- 53:56Well, and then Amy Stiller was the one chatting with David Hyde Pierce
- 54:00in the bar in that one scene, too.
- 54:02I miss David Hyde Pierce on this watch.
- 54:04He does have a great. He's there. Yeah. Good stash.
- 54:07There's a cameo from one of Cage's brothers, too.
- 54:09Yeah. And did you get that scene? Yeah. OK.
- 54:13You know, I heard that Cage actually wasn't happy with how it ended up.
- 54:19He was I guess he was really, quote unquote, hurt
- 54:22by seeing himself on the cover with a cape and the fangs
- 54:26because he said, I never wore a cape.
- 54:28And I guess he just got upset with how they kind of I mean.
- 54:34But like he's still kind of that way with like things they use his face for
- 54:38because with the he was doing an interview recently and they talked to him about
- 54:41like finally getting to see himself as Superman in the flash.
- 54:44And all he could talk about was how they had me come in and ask me to do some stuff.
- 54:47But none of that stuff was on the screen.
- 54:48So I don't know what they did. Probably something with AI.
- 54:51Well, I mean, they did do that. Yeah.
- 54:53They didn't do anything with his real work. I know.
- 54:56But he has a like flat face that just goes.
- 55:01I'm actually surprised to hear that, like they brought him in at all.
- 55:04I wouldn't have.
- 55:05We watched the whole two and a half hours for that. Worth it.
- 55:08Yeah. No, no.
- 55:11I don't know. As far as not to get off topic, because we never do that.
- 55:16As far as DC movies go, that one was actually way better than I anticipated.
- 55:22Like I put off watching the flash for a really long time.
- 55:25I haven't watched it really.
- 55:27I could not.
- 55:28They put off releasing it.
- 55:30So I think it's because Zack Snyder just raped us too hard and too
- 55:35often with the DC movies that like, I don't know, it's just
- 55:39they really low lowered the bar.
- 55:42So you see something that's not terrible and it's not like, yeah.
- 55:46Oh, your mother's name is Martha.
- 55:49It's like, wow, this is good.
- 55:50Insane. Aquaman.
- 55:52And I finally watched him like this movie is nothing.
- 55:54Yeah, Aquaman.
- 55:55I haven't watched it.
- 55:57Julie Andrews is in it.
- 55:58That's like the one interesting thing about that movie.
- 56:01She's the voice of the Hydra.
- 56:02Hmm. And Amber Turd.
- 56:05You love Amber Turd.
- 56:07I love that.
- 56:08Say what you want about Amber Heard.
- 56:09I look great with her tits.
- 56:11That's true. Yeah.
- 56:13Go go look at Peter's artwork from Drive Angry.
- 56:16Drive Angry. It's astounding.
- 56:19Your best work.
- 56:20That is probably my best work.
- 56:21Peace to resistance. Yeah.
- 56:23Was that I mean, speaking of of Amber Heard wasn't
- 56:26I could be totally wrong, but wasn't wasn't Jack from Colorado Space?
- 56:31Like, didn't he play her son in something?
- 56:34He shit the bed once, too.
- 56:36And I thought that.
- 56:39And I thought that's the best joke we're going to get tonight.
- 56:44So in the matrix of good, bad, bad, good, bad, good, good, bad.
- 56:49Where would you put Nick Cage and this film?
- 56:51The upper 25 percent.
- 56:54I consider it an interesting kind of a misfire.
- 56:57I appreciate the fact that it was ambitious and that a lot of it does land.
- 57:01And I like director Robert Bierman and what what he tries to do with his movies.
- 57:05You know, so, you know, on the whole, you know, like solidly C plus B minus.
- 57:10I'd say something like good, bad, because it's it's like meme the movie.
- 57:16I feel like that's a little harsh.
- 57:18That's what I mean.
- 57:19Like, that's an opinion.
- 57:21I feel like your opinion sucks.
- 57:23No, it's going to be a primal thing all over again.
- 57:25No, it's a well, you admitted to loving primal earlier today.
- 57:29So you did. Oh, Sean.
- 57:33We were talking about getting Tartakov, Skis, Primal, but different.
- 57:39But the words I love primal came out of his mouth.
- 57:42Did you record it?
- 57:43Yes. From the wire that I always wear naturally.
- 57:47Yeah. Commander Data and a CGI panther.
- 57:50It's a movie, everybody.
- 57:51It was so good.
- 57:54No. Yes, I see your
- 57:58statement and I understand.
- 58:00But it's like the memes came after.
- 58:03Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 58:04Unbearable weight, I feel like, is more of the oh, it's a he's a meme.
- 58:08Make a movie.
- 58:09No, it was. Yeah, that's super, super disappointed in that movie.
- 58:14Oh, my God. Vampires Kiss definitely like.
- 58:16It earned all of that attention with how ridiculous
- 58:22and absurd and over the top and just completely
- 58:27unrestrained the performances and very, very rarely
- 58:33do I get to see something where you just give somebody control
- 58:37or like ownership of a character like that, and they just make bold choices,
- 58:45choices that could have landed him in like the unemployment line going forward.
- 58:53And he just committed to everyone.
- 58:55Yeah. Like this performance was a risk and this movie was a risk.
- 58:58And it's something that I think really had an effect on his career.
- 59:05Obviously, it got him moon struck.
- 59:07It has an effect on film, I think.
- 59:12I don't know if it's a good effect.
- 59:14And I'm not going to pull out the yarn, but.
- 59:18I know he just wanted to do this one for just to like rebel against moon
- 59:23struck and his performance.
- 59:25He didn't want to get typecast as a romantic lead.
- 59:28Yeah. And he didn't, you know, which I applaud, you know, because like
- 59:32that would that would have been safe if he just stuck with that.
- 59:34It's one thing I really appreciate about appreciate about Nicholas Cage
- 59:38in general is that he is he really loves acting
- 59:42and he's just playing and he's just you could tell he's having fun
- 59:48and he's passionate about what he's doing.
- 59:51And I mean, you know, love him or hate him.
- 59:54He's he's doing what he loves and he's got a lot of passion for it.
- 59:59Very true.
- 1:00:00I would say for me, I don't know when we started the good, bad, bad, good
- 1:00:03in season one.
- 1:00:05It was like episode 10, 12.
- 1:00:07So I don't know if we have a recording of where I thought this would be originally,
- 1:00:10which I think would probably put him good movie bad.
- 1:00:13But going back, rewatching it.
- 1:00:16Knowing the through line and actually being able to see like,
- 1:00:19oh, this script isn't just completely batshit bananas.
- 1:00:22Like there is a method to it.
- 1:00:24There is a reason for like his character, the hatred of women,
- 1:00:28as well as going insane.
- 1:00:30Rabie because rabies like it all makes sense.
- 1:00:33And I'm like, this movie is so much
- 1:00:35there's so much more here than I ever would have thought initially.
- 1:00:37And I'm going to up that to good good.
- 1:00:40I think it's a great film.
- 1:00:41Definitely up there in his.
- 1:00:44In his filmography, this is going to be a hard one to beat.
- 1:00:48Yeah, I'm with you.
- 1:00:49This is so much fun to watch every time on on second watch for me.
- 1:00:53I like this way more.
- 1:00:55I thought it was way more interesting.
- 1:00:57I like the music even.
- 1:00:59Yeah, which the first time I watched, I was like, the fuck is this?
- 1:01:02And the second time watching, I was like, OK, this kind of fucking works for this.
- 1:01:05Like the unreliable narrator.
- 1:01:08And it gets so much more absurd through the movie.
- 1:01:11Like when he's calling this therapist after he does the murder
- 1:01:15and he's trying to like get her to like make an appointment earlier.
- 1:01:18And as soon as she hangs up the phone, there's like that beefcake there.
- 1:01:22He's the beefcake is there before.
- 1:01:24Was he? Yeah.
- 1:01:25The beefcake.
- 1:01:26No, she's she's hot beefcake was there.
- 1:01:29She's getting it in.
- 1:01:31Just the the back and forth
- 1:01:34in the big ending scene there where he's on the street
- 1:01:37with a blood goatee talking to the corner of a building.
- 1:01:41And then and then he's looking pristine and with perfect hair
- 1:01:44and Elizabeth Ashley's office still holding the piece of wood
- 1:01:47that he's trying to stake himself with.
- 1:01:48Yeah, like that's that was very artful.
- 1:01:50I would you stop worrying and just get on with your big romance.
- 1:02:00I mean, you're right.
- 1:02:02I think that there's there's something deeper
- 1:02:05in it to be found in the movie.
- 1:02:07And I think that it was unfortunate that at that time
- 1:02:11they had to market it and like promote it as something kind of silly and schlocky.
- 1:02:17Yeah, marketing is its own thing.
- 1:02:19And I don't know if any of you guys work in marketing,
- 1:02:22but I'm still going to say, yeah, fuck those guys.
- 1:02:27Because they resemble that.
- 1:02:29So why? I resemble you.
- 1:02:32So without the beard, it's true.
- 1:02:34Yeah. Well, marketing got us to watch jujitsu.
- 1:02:37So which I maintain is a awesome piece of trash.
- 1:02:44I don't have crab man in it.
- 1:02:46It's got that awesome like first person fight scene.
- 1:02:50Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:52CGI shuriken just shooting at your face.
- 1:02:56Oh, man. Yeah. All the CGI bullet holes and stuff.
- 1:02:59It's like, why is this movie is so bad?
- 1:03:01And then the comic book transition.
- 1:03:04Yeah, for some reason.
- 1:03:05I love it. Yeah.
- 1:03:07That's my primal.
- 1:03:08You guys, you guys out there, you're nerds.
- 1:03:10You're going to love this.
- 1:03:11Look, comic book, see comic book equals good.
- 1:03:15That was our episode one.
- 1:03:16It was face off versus bat.
- 1:03:18Oh, astounding.
- 1:03:19Well, that's man.
- 1:03:20No contest. She was.
- 1:03:22Yeah, right.
- 1:03:23Jujitsu wins. Yeah.
- 1:03:25Yeah, obviously.
- 1:03:28With the predator pants.
- 1:03:33OK, how many hours can the Jujitsu alien suck on a peach for?
- 1:03:38Oh, I don't think you had an actual mouth.
- 1:03:40So not many.
- 1:03:42I mean, you don't need a mouth to peach.
- 1:03:44I think any orifice would do.
- 1:03:45Yeah. It's all it's just butts and butts.
- 1:03:49Yeah. Prison pocket.
- 1:03:51I mean, yeah.
- 1:03:53Yeah. It's a really an ass to ask.
- 1:03:55Yeah, you got it. You guys understand.
- 1:03:59We've been to prison. Sure.
- 1:04:03So in terms of these two films,
- 1:04:07I would like to know your guys' opinion.
- 1:04:09And in terms of where these are going to score in the end, your opinions do not matter.
- 1:04:13Ultimately, yeah, you your vote doesn't count.
- 1:04:16But we do want to hear it.
- 1:04:17Just like the Electoral College.
- 1:04:19What where would you which one of these movies would you put forward in the bracket?
- 1:04:23Personally, I would say Color Out of Space,
- 1:04:27although I think they're both important historically
- 1:04:31in the cage timeline.
- 1:04:32Both recommendable for different reasons.
- 1:04:34I think that's easy to say. Yeah.
- 1:04:38Vampires Kiss, a very iconic movie, very important movie.
- 1:04:42It's a fun movie.
- 1:04:43I would go with Color Out of Space.
- 1:04:45That's me. That's
- 1:04:48it's almost unfair to have to choose between those two
- 1:04:50because they really do pull long punches in both their categories.
- 1:04:54But that's the whole point of our show.
- 1:04:56It only gets harder. I know.
- 1:04:58Kind of like me.
- 1:05:00Only if there's a bat around.
- 1:05:01Yeah, I was drunk and also horny.
- 1:05:06Yeah, honestly, you know, being being drunk and horny
- 1:05:09and feeling kind of sensual myself.
- 1:05:13I'm going to say Color Out of Space, not because majority so far,
- 1:05:16but because all around, like you're looking at
- 1:05:19you're looking at the soundtrack,
- 1:05:21you're looking at the filmmaking of the whole thing.
- 1:05:24All of it was just such a beautifully put together thing
- 1:05:28and it made such a beautifully horrific beast that I just I love it.
- 1:05:33And at the time we watched in order, the
- 1:05:37Vampires Kiss and everything else, that was a breath of fresh air.
- 1:05:41But honestly, even though both films stay with me,
- 1:05:44Color Out of Space held a lot more in my mind
- 1:05:47and it kind of sticks around more there versus Vampires Kiss.
- 1:05:51It's just it just comes down to cohesion at the end of the day.
- 1:05:54Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:55Which is which is why I call Vampires Kiss an interesting failure.
- 1:05:59They got a lot of good themes in there
- 1:06:01and they're saying a lot of good things with them.
- 1:06:03Yeah, it's it's just some of them.
- 1:06:05Some of them kind of trail off.
- 1:06:06Though, if I had seen Jennifer Beals nipples,
- 1:06:10it may have been a different choice.
- 1:06:12The paces were bad.
- 1:06:14Yeah, like don't just hide them.
- 1:06:16Yes. Yeah.
- 1:06:17Like if you don't want to show any boob, that's fine.
- 1:06:20But like, just don't are they just find her body double from Flashdance.
- 1:06:25Hello, no brainer.
- 1:06:27Or like cut the pasties smaller, not have them be like.
- 1:06:32I mean, obviously, he wasn't into her anyway, right?
- 1:06:34Like that was the yogurt situation, right?
- 1:06:38Now, are they pasties or are they like that old like strapless bra?
- 1:06:43That's what I could be. Yeah.
- 1:06:45But I mean, either way, you make some very salient points about all of that.
- 1:06:50Well, I mean, about soundtrack cinematography, all that nipples. Nick.
- 1:06:58But oh, no, I'm I'm still solidly like if I had to show
- 1:07:03one of these movies to somebody at any point,
- 1:07:06I know I could get a consistent reaction from Vampire's Kiss.
- 1:07:13Vampire's Kiss that I wouldn't necessarily get every time from Color Out of Space.
- 1:07:22And I feel like in my own head experiment with how I approach this,
- 1:07:29that's that's got a lot more to me.
- 1:07:31And I mean, also, like I said, there's not a moment that Nicholas Cage
- 1:07:36is on screen that I'm not just completely taken for a ride in this movie.
- 1:07:41It just offers so much performance and there's no Lavinia.
- 1:07:47Like when I say we're trying to find Nicholas Cage's best movie,
- 1:07:51that best is in heavy air quotes because I just want to know
- 1:07:54what the most entertaining Nicholas Cage is.
- 1:07:57And it's definitely Vampire's Kiss is definitely up there.
- 1:08:00So I'm going to say Vampire's Kiss.
- 1:08:03Excellent. Hey, if it's just a performance, Deadfall wins them all.
- 1:08:06Yeah, we're putting it into the bracket.
- 1:08:10You can scratch your head till the end of days on that one.
- 1:08:14I definitely see where you guys are coming from.
- 1:08:16And that's that's a really good argument.
- 1:08:18Yeah. And, you know, everybody takes like their own approach to what this is.
- 1:08:24Like we could literally reorganize the bracket and have different winners.
- 1:08:29Yeah. Oh, every time. Yeah.
- 1:08:32So this is I mean, we're we're certainly not
- 1:08:35disagreeing with you about Color Out of Space being a terrific movie.
- 1:08:39I love that film.
- 1:08:40It's again, the reason I wanted to start this.
- 1:08:43In terms of having to rewatch something, I would definitely say Color Out of Space.
- 1:08:48But but you're right, though, if you're if you're approaching somebody
- 1:08:51who's like, what's Nick Cage all about?
- 1:08:55Like, I don't get it.
- 1:08:55Then you're going to show them Vampire's Kiss.
- 1:08:58100 percent. I hope that you do.
- 1:09:00Yeah, I'm going to show them that episode of Community.
- 1:09:02All the online. Oh, good choice.
- 1:09:04No, no. All the online reviewers seem to think that his very best work
- 1:09:08was Con Air and Gone in 60 Seconds.
- 1:09:10Gone in 60 Seconds can suck it.
- 1:09:12Gone in 60 seconds somehow, everybody.
- 1:09:15Have you guys ever had a movie that that that you never liked
- 1:09:19that you hated every time you watched it?
- 1:09:21You kept going back to it, just trying to bang your head against it,
- 1:09:24being like, OK, what's in here?
- 1:09:26What do people see? Why?
- 1:09:29I had to do an illustration for the Life Aquatic,
- 1:09:32and I've always hated that director. Me too.
- 1:09:34And like I watch him.
- 1:09:35I've I watched the movie.
- 1:09:36I was like fell asleep in five minutes, had to watch it again the next day.
- 1:09:39Fell asleep in five minutes.
- 1:09:41Third time I watched it, got 10 minutes into it, got a chuckle out of me.
- 1:09:43And now it's one of my favorite movies.
- 1:09:45So it's kind of like a weird like Stockholm syndrome situation.
- 1:09:51We need a soundboard button for I was a little drunk
- 1:09:54and a little horny just to play repeatedly during that.
- 1:09:58I'm so yeah.
- 1:10:01Can we can we mod this?
- 1:10:02Probably. OK.
- 1:10:04Yeah. So thank you guys for being here.
- 1:10:08Do you guys want to just give a little shout out to your shows?
- 1:10:12Yeah. What do you got to pitch?
- 1:10:13Yeah. So we're part of Cage's Kiss.
- 1:10:15We try to glean whatever kernels of wisdom we can from his movies and his life.
- 1:10:22And we've just we've been doing it forever.
- 1:10:26And I don't remember a time before it.
- 1:10:29Unfortunately.
- 1:10:30Also, Donnie and I enjoy voice acting on the side.
- 1:10:36And I have another little fun podcast about witches and stories
- 1:10:40and history called Bedknobs and Broom Flicks.
- 1:10:44And I'm kind of looking forward to an episode I've coming up on
- 1:10:49Cinema Recall in his podcast.
- 1:10:51We're going to be talking about of all things, because people couldn't decide
- 1:10:54to choose Jaws 4 for some reason.
- 1:10:56We're going to talk about JFK because why not?
- 1:11:02Jaws 4 JFK.
- 1:11:04Same thing. I mean, it really is, honestly.
- 1:11:08Just the back of the brooder films.
- 1:11:10A little lamb.
- 1:11:11No, they're not just watching the brooder films.
- 1:11:16Hey, this comedy podcast about to really turn it up a notch.
- 1:11:20Yeah. Don't listen to our 9-11 episode either.
- 1:11:22Yeah. Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:23That'll get you kicked.
- 1:11:25Just listening to that gets people canceled.
- 1:11:309-11 is your favorite holiday.
- 1:11:31It gets you. Yeah.
- 1:11:33I mean, if you're going to make up holidays, just fuck it.
- 1:11:38Yeah. That like Linda said, doing voice acting stuff.
- 1:11:41And I am also getting geared up to do another full month of shark movie reviews.
- 1:11:46So that's can be interesting once we get that ball rolling.
- 1:11:49You just do that during shark month.
- 1:11:51No, I'm trying to time it with it if I can.
- 1:11:54But I intermittently do these like every two to three months, I will.
- 1:11:58And this is this is a search to go through all the shittiest shark
- 1:12:02films I can to find some chunks of gold.
- 1:12:05Did you talk about that Italian zombie movie where the zombie fights a shark?
- 1:12:10Was zombie shark? Yes.
- 1:12:14The last time I did this, the best film I got out of it was Bad CGI Sharks.
- 1:12:18That is an amazing, amazing.
- 1:12:20Oh, that's the title of it.
- 1:12:21It's called Bad CGI Sharks.
- 1:12:23Yes. I mean, I guess go with what you know.
- 1:12:26Donnie, didn't you review porn for no nut November?
- 1:12:32You got my attention.
- 1:12:34Got put off, but I am still doing a full month of story porn.
- 1:12:41So parody porn that has story has something going on other than just fucking.
- 1:12:46But then also, yes, the golden era of porn,
- 1:12:49because they actually had something going on in that shit versus just banging and screwing.
- 1:12:54When I was a kid, I was riding my bike down to go work out.
- 1:13:00And the fence story.
- 1:13:02The fence story.
- 1:13:03No, no. But I found like a box of pornos.
- 1:13:08And like I was like, oh, man, I'm going to have to come back
- 1:13:11and grab these on my way home, because obviously I was going to take them to the gym.
- 1:13:15And because I'm I want to get my pump on when I get home.
- 1:13:19Two. But one of them was this porno.
- 1:13:25And it was about this like nerd who I can't remember what it was.
- 1:13:30But he gets sent back in time to like ye olde medieval times.
- 1:13:35And I was like, oh, man, this is fucking hilarious and great.
- 1:13:40But then it turned into a foot fetish movie at the same time.
- 1:13:43And I was like, OK, this is really weird, because that's not like
- 1:13:46the era that I want to get into feet.
- 1:13:51It's like that's just corns all over them.
- 1:13:54Bunions. I hate a good bun.
- 1:13:57Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah.
- 1:13:57If I'm going to go shrimp and I want some nice clean toes.
- 1:14:00Don't call it shrimp and I'm sorry that you guys love shrimp.
- 1:14:05But that's the term for it.
- 1:14:06You're fucking up shrimp for me.
- 1:14:08It's terrible. I hate it.
- 1:14:10What do we got coming up next time, Peter?
- 1:14:12I don't know. I truly don't have it.
- 1:14:16Another movie.
- 1:14:17The Rock vs. National Treasure.
- 1:14:18I think that's right. With Seth.
- 1:14:21All right. Have a great night, everyone.
- 1:14:23Yeah. Thank you for listening.
- 1:14:24Thank you for our sparkle buddies on Patreon.
- 1:14:27Josh, John, Josie, Rico, Matt and Adam and Caged Dancers, Ira, John, Freeman
- 1:14:32and Lance. And you can find us on all the shit.
- 1:14:35We're cage match pod or cage underscore match underscore pod.
- 1:14:39Send us money on Patreon.
- 1:14:41Yeah. Give us money because for reasons, we'll do good stuff with it.
- 1:14:46I don't know. Maybe.
- 1:14:48We'll do stuff with it.
- 1:14:50Double masculine, double pump masculine.
- 1:14:53A little masculine.
- 1:14:56Bye bye.
- 1:15:02Bye bye.
- 1:15:08What deep thought are you in?
- 1:15:10Whether or not I have to go to the bathroom before we start.
- 1:15:13You might as well.
- 1:15:14Yeah, I mean, you're in the correct moment to go do it if you want to do it.
- 1:15:18Don't make us pull the show over.
- 1:15:20Yeah. Quit wasting my time, Sean.
- 1:15:22With that hog out.
- 1:15:26I'll take a pissless cage.
- 1:15:29A pissless cage, indeed.
- 1:15:34Yeah, so I don't know if you guys have listened to our show at all, but we're.
- 1:15:38I have.
- 1:15:39Dumb.
- 1:15:41You can say and do whatever you want on here.
- 1:15:44But jokes, whatever.
- 1:15:45It really doesn't matter.
- 1:15:46Peter's going to edit this to make us all sound racist in the end anyway.
- 1:15:50Every time we have a history with the Polish.
- 1:15:59All right. You guys are going to make perfect sense for us.
- 1:16:02Well, when we recorded about this before, our guest pointed out to us the whole
- 1:16:06hierarchy of llamas versus alpacas.
- 1:16:08So apparently it's rich people that own the alpacas.
- 1:16:12OK, so there was a guy at the ultrasound spot that I went to recently and he was like,
- 1:16:21oh, cool, cool, llama shirt.
- 1:16:22And I know that the llamas are the ones with the long necks because L.
- 1:16:27Long llama.
- 1:16:32And then I looked at llamas and I was like and I looked at alpacas, I was like, they
- 1:16:36both have fucking long necks.
- 1:16:38What?
- 1:16:39They both have long necks.
- 1:16:40This doesn't mean anything to me.
- 1:16:41I'm worse off now.
- 1:16:42Now you're just more confused.
- 1:16:43Yeah.
- 1:16:44Now I'm just assuming everything's a llama.
- 1:16:45Alpacas are softer.
- 1:16:46It's a llama.
