Transcript
- 0:00Today's episode is brought to you by the Spider-Man app.
- 0:03The Spider-Man app, you know, the app that all those basic girls had in 2013
- 0:10when their phone would crack and all of a sudden all of our phones got like
- 0:14so good at like dealing with like falling down.
- 0:18That's beyond me. Good on Apple for that one. Because the reason why I bring
- 0:21this up is because I literally just brought my phone, so I was going to have
- 0:23like some clever, pithy app endorsement about some app that will help you find
- 0:27a husband and delete your browser history. and make you feel less awkward or whatever.
- 0:32No, phone cases. That's the tried and true technology. Okay,
- 0:36funny quote from the news. Gentlemen, start your engines.
- 0:39That's Interior Secretary Doug Burgum getting the Indy race started in Washington, D.C. on Sunday.
- 0:46Which, if you've ever heard or seen Doug Burgum speak, probably prompted everyone
- 0:50in the crowd to go see him before the race.
- 0:53Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Sarcast. I give you the news and maybe
- 0:57a laugh. I'm Ray Farrow, and today is Tuesday, August 25th, 2026.
- 1:03Tell us a little bit about yourself. I'm Ray Farrow, as you know,
- 1:06and I'm not a fan of peanut M&Ms. They just weren't my thing.
- 1:09They're not bad. I mean, I'll take a peanut M&M if you offer me one,
- 1:12but I just, yeah, better flavors out there of M&Ms.
- 1:15They're not even chocolate. It's just fine. I don't know. It's like the keel
- 1:18of putting a peanut in the M&M. Just anyway.
- 1:21In real news, 25 race cars screamed around a 1.7-mile track
- 1:26that wheeled in between the white marble monuments and Smithsonian museums on
- 1:30Pennsylvania Avenue, cut across the National Mall, and passed the Capitol,
- 1:35ruining traffic and brunch plans for everyone in D.C. on Sunday.
- 1:39The Freedom 250 was in honor of America's 250th birthday, which some of you
- 1:44more astute listeners may have noticed was well over a month ago.
- 1:47Starting to suspect this administration is not very responsible.
- 1:53All right. War and extreme weather are causing global wheat prices to go up.
- 1:58Bread, pasta, and even instant noodle prices are expected to skyrocket.
- 2:03Finally, my friends with celiac disease are laughing at us instead of the other
- 2:07way around. This actually isn't that funny.
- 2:10Heat and drought have diminished harvests of some of the biggest wheat-producing
- 2:13countries, including the United States, which is expected to have its worst
- 2:16wheat harvest in half a century.
- 2:18With spike prices, the Black Sea, a crucial passage for the global wheat trade,
- 2:23is an active theater on the Russia-Ukraine war.
- 2:26And while the Houthian militia's attacks on shipping in the Red Sea have already
- 2:30forced grain shipments to take a longer, more expensive route around South Africa,
- 2:35beyond that, the supercharged El Nino further threatens water levels in the Panama,
- 2:41Canal, while drought has reduced water levels to imperiously low levels in transit
- 2:48routes like the Rhine and Danube rivers in Europe, raising transportation costs.
- 2:52All this at a time when the global atmosphere is hotter than normal because
- 2:56of a century of fossil fuel burning threatening livelihoods of small farmers in poor countries.
- 3:01You know things are really bad when the price of cup of noodles is about to go up?
- 3:06In more pleasant news, a kangaroo escaped a facility in Kansas,
- 3:11and there's a cool security video of a kangaroo hopping by, said the authorities,
- 3:18to the Kansas kangaroo, we'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too.
- 3:24Come on, shoehorned Wizard of Oz reference. Let's go. Speaking of let's go, it's almost NFL season.
- 3:31A lot of you are like, Ray, you're gay. Why do you care about that?
- 3:34The answer is, I don't know, daddy issues.
- 3:36But I am actually coming out of retirement for fantasy football this year.
- 3:41So wish me luck. My draft is next week.
- 3:44Do you have any tips? Please let me know. And if you don't care about fantasy
- 3:47football, to be honest, neither do I. But it's a chance to hang out with my
- 3:53straight friends and pretend that what they have to say is actually interesting.
- 3:58Cooking tip of the day. Crispy M&Ms. Those are the best M&Ms.
- 4:03They're way better than peanut M&Ms. Regular chocolate M&Ms, they're fine.
- 4:07Have you ever had the coffee M&M's? I don't know. Email questions,
- 4:10comments, a nice Jewish boy looking for a date, any M&M suggestions,
- 4:14any great M&M stories, any recipes of a brownie with M&M's in it,
- 4:19email Lindsay at the Daily Starcast, and I promise I'll see it.
- 4:23Or just DM me and tell me I'm an idiot for not liking the peanut M&M's.
- 4:27I know I'm in the minority on that one, and I do think that the yellow M&M in
- 4:30the commercials is a more adorable one, but I just couldn't ever get with the
- 4:34peanut M&M's. Am I crazy? I don't know. Let me know.
- 4:37Have a great day. We got some more sarcastic coming for you tomorrow. Bye.
