- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:48Hi, it's Adam here. And in this hypnosis session,
- 0:51you're going to be listening to hypnotherapy designed for fussy
- 0:56eaters that feel that there's a lot of foods that they can't try
- 1:00or deal with. And I was working with a client
- 1:03that really had issues eating food in public places or food
- 1:08they haven't attempted before. And they were using a word a
- 1:13lot, which is a very common word in the English language, which
- 1:16is try. And a lot of people actually
- 1:20have positive connotations with the word try.
- 1:23You know, they say, like, it's good to try, try, try, try
- 1:26again. But here's the interesting thing
- 1:28about the word try in a lot of different contexts, it actually
- 1:31has the presupposition of failure.
- 1:34So it's like, Oh, well, I'll try through that tonality.
- 1:39It has this connotation of, well, you might attempt it, but
- 1:42it's not going to go well. And this particular client I was
- 1:46working with would use that to describe experiencing new foods
- 1:51that they hadn't had before without realizing there would be
- 1:54a connotation that it wouldn't go well and they wouldn't either
- 1:58enjoy or be able to eat those particular foods.
- 2:03So what this hypnosis session really is, is a reframe to get
- 2:07them thinking about choosing rather than trying, because
- 2:10choosing comes from a place of empowerment.
- 2:14You either choose to do or not do, rather than try with the
- 2:18expectation of failure. Also, this was a very
- 2:22competitive client, very successful in sport.
- 2:26So there is an element of gamification here where we
- 2:29actually create this idea of a game of red, amber and green.
- 2:34And red are all the foods they've never even attempted
- 2:37before. And amber are ones that they've
- 2:40attempted a few times but not got to the point where they feel
- 2:44that they could eat them whenever they wanted to.
- 2:47So that would be the amber. And then the green is almost
- 2:49like the safe list. And the safe list would be all
- 2:53of those foods they can just know that they can eat whenever
- 2:56they're hungry or whenever they feel like eating.
- 2:58There's certain foods that they have a high level of belief that
- 3:01they could eat in whatever the circumstances would.
- 3:05Be. Therefore, we've now got a game
- 3:08and the game is to attempt or choose foods from the Red List
- 3:13almost in low stakes environments where it's a shot
- 3:16to nothing. And then if they decide that
- 3:20they don't like that, then that's still a victory because a
- 3:23lot of people don't like certain foods.
- 3:26You know, there's lots of foods I don't like.
- 3:27You know, I've attempted them, I don't like them, I'm not going
- 3:30to eat them again, that's completely fine.
- 3:32But by attempting things on the Red List, they either know they
- 3:36don't like them or it moves to the amber list.
- 3:39So it's not quite the safe list yet, but they have had
- 3:41experience and maybe they had a few mouthfuls and maybe they ate
- 3:47the meal alone but not around other people.
- 3:50That gets it on to the amber list.
- 3:52And then for anything on the amber list, the goal is to get
- 3:55it to the green list through repetition but also eating in
- 3:59different circumstances. So if you feel like you're a
- 4:02fussy eater or know someone, and by the way that that term fussy
- 4:06eater is just a value judgement, fussy is entirely depending on
- 4:10the individual, but. If you can.
- 4:12Relate to that term and there's so many foods that you feel are
- 4:16off limits for you, either because of the food or the
- 4:20context where you eat them. You might get some value from
- 4:23this session. And if you like this kind of
- 4:25stuff, there's actually some free gifts that I have, free
- 4:28downloads, free access to courses, all in the description.
- 4:31So if you like more of what I do, click the description, have
- 4:34a look at some of those things I'm offering completely free.
- 4:37But for now, you might get some value from this session.
- 4:40So find a quiet, comfortable place where you won't be.
- 4:43Disturbed, relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:19Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 5:29resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:33And as you exhale, just allow any feelings of worry, stress,
- 5:41or tension to feel like it's leaving your body in that
- 5:47outward breath. On the next inward breath,
- 5:53breathe in the longer and deeper than you normally would.
- 5:58And as you exhale, if you haven't already, just allow your
- 6:06eyelids to close and notice that with your eyes closed, how much
- 6:15easier it is to focus your attention on the sound of my
- 6:22voice. Breathing in relaxation and
- 6:30exhaling that tension. That's it.
- 6:34Just scan your body for any clues of stress or worries.
- 6:41Focus on the location, and as you breathe in that feeling of
- 6:45resourceful relaxation, give permission to release, to
- 6:53release that tension. Imagine it leaving your body as
- 6:58dark shadows in your outward breath, Breathing in those
- 7:03resources you need and exhaling any feelings or emotions that on
- 7:14helping you right now. Feel your muscles relaxing
- 7:24firstly in your shoulders, your chest, around your face.
- 7:32Almost as though your body is remembering what it feels like
- 7:38to really relax, to really let go now, letting go of anything
- 7:49it doesn't need to carry in this moment.
- 7:53And then another deep breath in. That's in.
- 7:59And with each breath, just feel that release, Find yourself
- 8:08sinking a little deeper into comfort, into calm, into
- 8:16stillness. And here in this place, your
- 8:23conscious mind can take a step back so that your imagination
- 8:30can take a step forward. You already know you like to
- 8:37play games, sport, to win. And I wonder if your imagination
- 8:48can begin to play a new game, a game of confidence, curiosity
- 8:58and choice, breathing in and breathing out.
- 9:06And I wonder if you can use the power of your imagination to
- 9:12imagine a traffic light. You could imagine you're in the
- 9:17car. Or by the.
- 9:19Side of the. Rd.
- 9:22And just imagine seeing that traffic light with the green,
- 9:27the amber and the red. Hold that thought.
- 9:35And then imagine being in a comfortable place in your own
- 9:40home, a place where you feel relaxed.
- 9:47And I wonder if you could imagine a glowing console.
- 9:54And the console also has the three colors of the traffic
- 9:59light green, amber and red. And you can think of this
- 10:08console as controls a dashboard and interface for your very own
- 10:20food explorer game. And just by being here,
- 10:27listening to my voice and thinking of red, amber and
- 10:32green, you are already winning because you are already playing.
- 10:42Because this is a game about discovering more options, more
- 10:48choices, nothing you have to do, and everything you get to do to
- 10:56give you a future of more comfort and more freedom.
- 11:12And I want you to think about the green color and let's call
- 11:18it the Green Zone. And the Green Zone represents
- 11:25all of those foods that you already know that you like and
- 11:32already know that you're comfortable eating.
- 11:37You've tasted them, you enjoy them, you feel good eating them,
- 11:45and you can eat them anywhere by yourself, in front of family or
- 11:50friends. These are your reliable choices
- 11:58and whenever you're feeling uncertain, stressed or
- 12:01overwhelmed or just want something familiar, Green Zone
- 12:09foods are there for you. Consider this your safety net,
- 12:15your fortress, and then imagine the amber zone.
- 12:24And these are all the foods that you have experienced before.
- 12:31You've tasted them, smelt them, sometimes even enjoyed them.
- 12:39This is the area, the no man's land.
- 12:46And maybe they go to green or maybe they go to the blacklist,
- 12:54but it's too early to know yet. Maybe you need more time.
- 13:02Maybe you need to experience them in a different place, with
- 13:06different people and when you're feeling a different way.
- 13:12And that's OK, because Amber Foods are there for exploring
- 13:17when you feel safe, curious, or comfortable.
- 13:26And maybe you're more comfortable when you're eating
- 13:28alone or feeling calm and relaxed, and you can choose
- 13:35something from this zone and just see what happens.
- 13:42A family meal might be two things from the Green Zone and
- 13:50one thing from the amber zone. You just get to experience and
- 14:00then think of the red zone, and the red zone is the most
- 14:07exciting zone because this zone holds all of the foods that you
- 14:15haven't chosen yet. You can't have decided if
- 14:22they're right for you or not because you haven't experienced
- 14:26them yet. Maybe you haven't had the
- 14:33opportunity or you didn't feel like it, and that's OK.
- 14:43I want you to get a sense that these are your unknowns, new
- 14:51experiences. But instead of pressure, red
- 14:57foods are like bonus levels in a game.
- 15:04You don't have to like them, but even just testing them is a win.
- 15:12And you're choosing to test them with no obligation.
- 15:18And you can smell them, taste them, nibble them, or eat them.
- 15:25All of the options are yours, just to find out if they've got
- 15:32what it takes to move from the red zone to the amber zone, and
- 15:41wherever they go, you win. If you don't like it and you
- 15:50know that for sure, you can choose to put it on your
- 15:54blacklist and you never need to revisit or even think about that
- 16:01food again and if it's OK or even enjoyable.
- 16:07It's too early to put it on the green list, so it moves to amber
- 16:13and you can experience it again later when you choose to, and
- 16:22only after time in amber when you've tasted it, enjoyed it and
- 16:29experienced it in different situations.
- 16:33When you come to the conclusion that you feel totally
- 16:37comfortable when you've eaten it, even in front of strangers,
- 16:46only then does it earn its way into your Green Zone.
- 16:53Because this isn't about forcing or trying.
- 16:57This is about choosing. You choose what to taste.
- 17:03You choose when you choose how far to go.
- 17:09You choose if you eat that thing around other people or
- 17:13privately. If you eat it mindfully or
- 17:18mindlessly, if you eat it fast or slow, these are all choices
- 17:25that you get to make and you're not trying to win or trying not
- 17:32to lose. You're choosing to just play the
- 17:37game, to grow, to experience. And every time you think about
- 17:46food, I wonder if you can feel more curious than cautious.
- 17:54Because it can be a winnable game for you, your game.
- 17:59And when there's no failing, it's just learning.
- 18:08Because when you feel very comfortable with that amber
- 18:10food, it moves to green. And the more your Green Zone
- 18:16list grows, the more choices you have.
- 18:19And when you eat out a busy restaurant or feel that you're
- 18:29feeling stressed or pressured, that's the time to choose those
- 18:36foods from your Green Zone. And when you're feeling playful
- 18:43or comfortable, you might choose Amber.
- 18:49And if you're feeling courageous, adventurous,
- 18:54mentally strong, even just playful, maybe you choose one or
- 19:02two things from the red zone just to see.
- 19:10Because now you know that you are in control.
- 19:15You get to choose. You no longer try.
- 19:21You choose. You choose them, you test them,
- 19:27and every experience makes you more discerning.
- 19:32Knowing what you feel comfortable with, what you like
- 19:35and what you don't like. You are a food explorer,
- 19:42curious, brave, discerning, and every time your Green Zone
- 19:47grows, one choice at a time feels like a victory that when
- 19:57you. Choose those red.
- 19:58Foods or amber foods, you could be discerning about how how you
- 20:08make it more winnable for you. How you find the higher ground.
- 20:19And maybe you could imagine yourself a year from now,
- 20:26imagine yourself eating foods that right now are on your amber
- 20:32zone but in the future will be in your Green Zone.
- 20:38Get a sense that your Green Zone is growing and growing until you
- 20:43have so many choices but no location, no situation feels
- 20:51daunting, no environment feels pressured because you have so
- 20:56many choices upon which to choose.
- 21:01Get a sense that this is your future, a winnable future of
- 21:07exploration, testing, choosing and winning.
- 21:13But it's time to return all the way back to the here and now,
- 21:17taking these new ways of thinking with you.
- 21:23You are choosing and choosing to have more choices.
- 21:30So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 21:35nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 21:37wiggle your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 21:40here and now. That's it.
- 21:44As I count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you starting to count 123
- 21:50waking up 456, more alert. 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 21:56Open your eyes, 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 22:02awake. Thank you for listening to The
