- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: All right, welcome back to the Jim business coach podcast.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host, Tim Alliance at Joint Institute by Randy Anxon with some men.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: Are we doing today?
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_01]: Always great.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just went out there, I was just enjoying watching this coach's coach, man.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: Some of my private is just like a well-oiled machine out there.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so anyways, that's what the topic is about today.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, that was like, not related, but I was just great-time.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because I don't know if you guys know this, but we're in the physical gym right now.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: I know this is a studio inside of, in the gym, it's like in another room, but like, it's the gym right outside that door.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's really cool to be able to go out there and see and talk to clients hadn't seen it in a while.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so like yeah, some of my private is it's like all the rage right now like everybody's doing semi private training, which is awesome because I totally believe in it and some of my private is what we call the way It's something that we've been doing in here since 2010 haven't stopped since yet we've iterated we've gotten better at it.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: We've we've we've added clients to the number like at one point.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: We were like hey four to one and then five to one and so like all the kind of stuff is change over time, but like some of my private's been our
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: one of our core, core service offerings for 15, 16 years, double down on it.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we moved almost, you know, we moved all the other options to a long time ago.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: And so, you know, and it's funny because here's the, here's the honest truth.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_01]: We've been talking about semi-private for 740 episodes, you know, call it 10 years, you know, we've been doing it for 16 years.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but now you're hearing about other coaches and people talking my, hey, semi-private and, you know, all this stuff is the right way to bring your business.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, it's funny because we need to really discuss this because we've seen it fail miserably many times.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so like just like just like anything you do like you run a gym right now.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's people on the outskirts kind of watching what you're doing and maybe they're going to go and try to work out on their own because they see some of your stuff and of course you as a gym owner like no if those people aren't in your ecosystem and they're just trying to see what you're doing and how you're training clients and they're going to try to do on their own they're probably not going to.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to fail eventually, right?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: And the same thing happens inside of our ecosystem where we've been talking about some of my private and people that aren't in our coaching programs, so maybe in our Facebook group or they listen to the podcasts, they go out and they try to implement some of my private training and fail.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not funny, but it's like there's obvious reasons that we see why it felt.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: And most of the time it was, you know, they just added it to their service offerings and tried to run it and, you know, just kind of didn't work or they had large group training programming with less people and it didn't work or their pricing was wrong and it didn't work and, you know, then the realization comes.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: My clients don't want that.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: So they tried to do it on the run, the offered it to the clientele, whether or not it's the new market or the current market that they have, the current clients, and it didn't take off, and then the realization or the thought processes, well, it doesn't work or us.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: My clients won't pay that or my clients don't want that.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and it's just not true.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just honest truth is it just wasn't implemented the right way.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so now that I'm seeing so many coaches in the industry talk about some of my private, um, it just, you know, it makes me worried for the Jim owner's listening to them.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: to say, hey, yeah, this is easy, something easy to do.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'll just do it on my own or I'll listen to what these guys are saying and I'll just go do it on my own and you're going to end up failing in the long run.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: There is a process and you cannot just decide one day, you're going to do some of my private, change your price, and change your delivery and hope for the best.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: We have it out there.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: We have a seven step process on how to do this in your gym.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: There's there's a phased approach.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: There's a straight from scratch approach.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: If you're opening a brand new facility, there's a totally different approach.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: If you have one on one, you're bringing it to semi-private versus large, you're bringing it to semi-private.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Two totally different paths, different conversations, different languages.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I did talk about this in my book, built to win.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: It came out now.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably two years old, but like I did talk about how to do it a couple different ways.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, it's not everything because that's what we do in our coaching program.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so worried to see all these gems getting on the boundmage and which is awesome because I think it is the right way to run a gem.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: We believe in it to do it the wrong way.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, it's frustrating in a way, but it's like also like, yeah, of course.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, 10 years later, everybody's finally figuring it out.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: We've been doing this forever and we've been doing a hell of a job in the most unfortunate
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: is, I've seen gems in this industry do very well.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Very well.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Look at our iron circles, these guys are rushing at $1 million gems, multiple million dollar gems, multiple businesses, investments, free time.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: They're not like chained to their business.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that you can want and dream of is happening over here, but the rest of the industry in the majority of the industry is struggling.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're not making any great money, whether or not they're doing some of my private or not is irrelevant, they're they're following and listening to the wrong advice.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I, you know, this industry is not that big.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's a couple of coaches out there, maybe 10, 12 coaches that coached your owners, plus all the ones that just started yesterday, those guys are starting to come up.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I'm I'm in the camp of like abundance.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: I am in the camp of like, hey guys, let's let's bring this industry together and let's let's grow this industry and unfortunately that's just not the mindset of almost anybody else and that's a coach in this industry.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I've reached out to a few, you know, like, hey, we should work together.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: We've got some great stuff that your guys can use and we can share and all this stuff.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like all, you know, the rising tide raises all the ships and there's so much to go around.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many gym owners struggling that I wanted to reach out.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I've reached out to several and I've been stoneballed to be matter of fact.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like I've been stoneballed from other,
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: Coaches that coach jim owners like you listening that said no we don't want to work with you Your competition yeah, and while I can understand where they're coming from things the wrong mindset I believe this to I mean Again, this isn't me just talking that I do practice what I preach and I'll give you a really quick example of what I practice is what I preach In our iron circle we have jim owners in that group
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: and it was under my thought process.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: If I was going to bring the best of the industry into one group, I have to assume that they're also going to be coaching other gym owners at some level.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: And this is happening in there right now.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_01]: There's four or five different individuals in our iron circle coaching other gym owners.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: They're competition sure, but like at the end of the day, I'm above abundance, mindset, there's enough to go around.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: one even bigger level than that is our closest competitor to my physical gym.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: This guy named Scott Carpenter.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: He is in the iron circle.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's been in our iron circle for years.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: We reached out to each other.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, man, you know, I had him on the podcast.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: He was doing some high ticket stuff for gym owners, especially in the CrossFit space.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: I said, come on, man, let's work together.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, not only for the gym owner space, but like at the gym level,
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: He's just don't throw away from this door, right?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so like his physical gym is close to my physical gym and his physical, you know, like competition in the gym owner coaching space, whereas he's in our group, like, of course, come on in.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so like, I'm not just saying that to say it, like the point to the messages is, I believe this could happen at the gym.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: coaching level like and you know and there's and there's only a few guys out there that I respect anyway you got MPE out there Guy Pat Rick's B there's there's there's two brain there's There's a couple other guys right like that you've been around they they do good work
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I've even reached out to some of those people on that list and I've been told no, like no, we don't want to work with you.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: And they, you know, because they're either afraid we're going to take their clients or their clients are going to gravitate towards us and they're going to lose business.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And it's kind of frustrating because I have an olive branch that I put out to the industry.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, and it's like the end of the day, guys, what you coach and what we coach are a little different, but like the client, the gym owner, they're the ones getting hurt because if you're a coach, they're trying to coach people into doing like some of my private and you've never done it, what are you doing?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're just trying to tell people to do something
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: uh... when we can work together and we can help you coach your clients up or whatever and we built a software right so my private pro we've talked about this uh...
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: And we know that the CrossFit space is coming up and they're starting to do some semi-private.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so we reached out to the two brain guys.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, hey, we'd love to be a sponsor at your event.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: We could set up a booth.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: semi-private pro is a great software.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: If you're teaching people to do semi-private, I believe this is the best software that exists for this.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was built specifically for semi-private.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think they told us?
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: They said no.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: They said no, and it was because that Tim Lyons was involved with the software, right?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: So that's me and guys, hello, Tim Lyons was involved with the software.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, I'm a co-founder of it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: I know what it needs, because I have the gym that it serves.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: That was created for.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: It was created for.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: obviously it was this is the laboratory for that software.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: And we believe it's the best out there.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so like they're not even allowing their audience to know about it because of Tim, you know, I mean, because of their competition.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like they're they're not even willing to say you could pay as to be a sponsor so you can, you know, help support our audience because your software is great.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it happened with two other guys now.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's also Jim owner coaches like for example Todd Durkin Great guy known him for years on a personal level.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: He coaches tons of Jim owners.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm Well guess what he came over here.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: We showed him the gym.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's like tell me about some my private tell me about some my private pro He's on board.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's an affiliate
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: And he's using it for his franchise and he's, you know, he's sharing the love and all this stuff and he, you know, and of course he gets paid as an affiliate just like we were offering these guys.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: And he's he's adopted it and we've even had other guys that coach Jim owners that we offer that affiliate to and they said no don't give me the the money give my people a discount savings yeah and we are totally respect that too and so like at the end of the day like look guys I don't understand where this industry went off the rails because there's a bunch of people that are talking out of their ass.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: about things they haven't done and it's pretty damn frustrating to see the gym owner get hurt.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care if you want to help people but know what the damn what you're talking.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_00]: There's another big thing that's like with in that and again, it's just kind of a heat of the heat the warning if you may.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: Um, if you're entertaining or if you're part of a group and somebody in that group does something successful and they, and you can't learn about it because it didn't come from the leadership team or those running the group.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Be careful, right?
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: Our iron circles are great.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_00]: I great example of how it's done the other way.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_00]: I do believe it is a mastermind by the true sense, right?
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's a collaboration of everybody that's part of the group and the ideas that stem from any one of those individuals.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: If somebody does something that works,
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: We encourage them to share it with the entire group.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: We don't take credit.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: The group gets the credit, right?
- 12:47[SPEAKER_00]: Because you're part of the group as an order.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, whatever, everybody wins, rising tide raises all ship mentality.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: I have had it.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was really ironic, but like over the last, I'd say month.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: I probably talked to two or three gem owners that were
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: that are looking for a new home and part of the reason is they've reached a certain level and when it when there are those ideas They get shunned they get shut down because ownership doesn't get credit for it and that's that's again You're limiting the potential of your clients with members of that group
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: And their potential wins because you needed credit.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Just validation, whatever it may be.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's unfortunate.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's just a small minded.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if we're being honest, I do.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we are very open with what works, what doesn't work in our group.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: And if somebody, because I talk to everybody in the group.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so like if I'm hearing somebody's doing something super cool, I encourage them to do share that with everybody.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's awesome because.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: I know I don't know everything.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: I already know that.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: But it appears that everybody else that coaches Jim owners knows everything.
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like I don't know everything.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why the collective group is so powerful is because you got 50 little brains are out in that little brain.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: But like 50 brains are out there working in their gems and testing and trying and spending money and tweaking, changing a program or whatever whatever it is.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_01]: and they find a win, they find a lot of losses, but they find the wins and they bring them to the table and my guys check this out.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: Which just did just a couple of weeks ago.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: We had our, I was testing with all this AI stuff like, you know, yes, this particular one happened to come from me.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: But...
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Scott runs the wealth program, Lindsey runs the leadership department, you know, Zach runs the director circle, Matt's doing the AI circle.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: And so like all these individual members of the iron circle are also coaching their own sub topics within the iron circle, becoming leaders in the organization.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's just just really awesome to see.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of the day, I just take a giant step back and I look and I'm like,
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: running Facebook ads two months ago.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's teaching Jim owners how to run their business.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: I see that.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: Jim business coaches that are coaching CrossFit talking about, hey, in order to do something to bring this other service offering into your facility, or they're speaking about high rocks to bring in high rocks as their whole thing.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: they don't even know it.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: They don't own it.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, there's there's obviously high rocks is a totally different topic.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot of potential there.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_01]: But like at the end of the day, it's like, what is the thing they believe in?
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're jumping from peptides to high rocks to.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, semi-private to large group training like, dude, what is it?
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: You patch all these things and so who gets hurt the gym owner gets hurt because they're taking advice from somebody who's bouncing around or taking advice from two or three people or their Facebook ads guy that was running their ads can't seem to get them ads anymore.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: So now they're teaching them, well, you know, you got to sell this way and you got to offer this program and your pricing should be this and like the delivery should be that and it's like,
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're just running fake.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're just a digital marketer and more often than not they'd never had a They'd never run.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_00]: They'd never run.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: They'd never run a gym, right?
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: I know that's what's ironic.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like we I've always run the gym and then I was really good at Facebook ads and automation and so I taught Jim owners that because I was doing it in the gym.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_00]: But but you nailed it when you said that this is a laboratory
- 16:22[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_00]: This, the reason that we are in this seat, coaching other homeowners is because of everything that we've done on that floor and the business that you've been able to create, it's a byproduct of all of that, and then obviously the arena of being in bringing in other experts and things like that allows that to just continue and grow, but yeah, I mean, in really the point to this episode, guys, it's like guys, I think the industry is,
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: like messed up and fragmented and siloed and people won't share.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm over here like guys, let's share.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I get told no.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was at a perform better.
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: We were in, uh, we were in Providence.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was speaking at perform better.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I was in the, we were doing like a happy hour.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I looked to my left, and I see Sean Greely from NPE, and then I see her here as Pat Rigsby, and I see Martin Rooney, and I see Todd Durkin, and I was like, hey guys, come here, bring it in.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: Bring it in.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: I got them all into a big circle.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: We're all just jamming and stuff.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like,
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: we should do an event, all of us, and we should just talk about what we believe in and have a debate against each other, like why we believe what we believe in the data behind it.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: And a couple of guys said yes, and obviously some of them said no way, but that's where my head is at.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: And it was, you were there.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, let's get together and let's do a big event.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll just debate.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: Why would I do that?
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: because the gym owner has the, they get the win.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, the gym owner gets the win.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: We get 1,000 gym owners in our audience.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: We all get up there as gym business coaches.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: And we debate on what we believe in is what their way is.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you talk about, and then we attack each other or question, like we battle, you're like, well, what about this?
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: Why do you think that?
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: And then the gym owners in the audience get to listen,
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: and then they could come up and ask questions to each one of the guys or girls that are coaching Jim owners.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: How cool would that be?
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: It would be awesome.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we've talked about it so many times.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: And so like any Jim owner or Jim business coach that's listening, that's what I'm, that's what I'd like to offer.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like let's do it next year sometime and we'll just put it up, you know, hell, I'll host the event.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll just, it'll be a free event.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: All the Jim owners we can in a room,
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: And let's just talk about the industry and what we believe is the best approach for business, not not necessarily like how to swing a kettlebell, but like the business model, pricing structure, delivery systems, you know, that kind of stuff marketing, and you know, automation AI, I would love to do that.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: but it'll never happen.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: We need to get like seven or eight of these guys.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, that's just where my heads at.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, let's just do that and have it make it a really cool and packed full event.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: And then let the gym owners decide.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: Because unfortunately, especially over in the CrossFit says, there's this like, Ecos, it's an echo chamber.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's an echo chamber.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_01]: And like the honest truth is, you look at the industry over there in the CrossFit space and the top guy is doing like 50 grand a month or whatever it is.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, why would I listen to the guys who are doing down here?
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't I listen to the guys who are doing $100, $200,000 a month in a single location?
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's always outliers.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying those guys because there's some some really wild numbers even in our industry like it and the semi-private side there guys are doing with three million and five thousand square feet It's awesome, but like that's not the norm.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: The norm is down here.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so like you take the center of the pack and like what the average is over there in the larger space going to be under 30,000 or like 22 24,000 somewhere in there It's like why that why would you if that's the ad like why were you listening to those guys so
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: All this to say is I've tried, I've, I've, I've, I've, I've had conversations, Zach's had conversations with other industry leaders.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: If you call them that, and they've, they've said no.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: So that's just my fair warning to anybody listening.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, this is our podcast.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: We can see where the hell we want on it.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, you're facing, you know, you're an audience, uh, in the audience, just this fair warning, like, you know, it's up to you to listen to whatever you want.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but that's my thought is like, let's just get out.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do a debate.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, believe in something, I hope some don't some just jump from job grab whatever they would ever today's hot topic is.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so like, well, so while this started out is like, hey, semi-private is hot, it's the thing like you just need to know that you can't just do it.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can't, you can, you may fail, you may succeed, but like there's step by step process that we coach and all that stuff is all there for you.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: But compared to, let's compare it to the industry that we're in, you as a gym owner are like a client walking into a gym for the first time, you kind of mentioned it, right?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_00]: Like you proximity matters as close to the information and the resource, the closer you are, the more likely you are to get that result, right?
- 21:29[SPEAKER_00]: If you walk into a big box gym who's never been in a gym, never done, you know, personal training, never had that experience, the likelihood that they're gonna get the best of the results
- 21:42[SPEAKER_00]: you walk in and they pay for training, they're going to get a, I can't say guaranteed result, but they're going to get a better result than they are going to be on their own.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: Coaching in this industry is no different.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: You can, like, again, those of you listening, you're getting a portion of the results just by listening and adhering and doing some of these things from the podcast.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_00]: those that work with us getting another level of result.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to be more than what you can do on your own by just listening to free resource, right?
- 22:09[SPEAKER_00]: Those that get to the yarn circle where everything comes, you know, like it's everything on the table.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have the greatest opportunities and the greatest results.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_00]: And so that proximity matters,
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, obviously we, I coach gym owners, we coach gym owners every day, that's what we do.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: We see the results of them and we compare it to those who, we have the conversations that have tried it on their own and they are night and day different and so if you're, you know, if you're proponent for personal training and you believe in that for yourself and you don't have a business coach,
- 22:39[SPEAKER_00]: That's part of that warning.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: Why are you capable of getting a greater result?
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: You know, is a small investment a month with a coach with going to do that four year capable of doing that for you?
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: If so, then he Tim's warning and just make sure that the person that you're aligning yourself with has some proof of concept, some testimonials to show that they've done it and that they can reproduce those results for you as well.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: And if not, maybe they're not the right one for you.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Mom's up to you.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody, everybody listen, you know, you got your own business current choices.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that was, that was really what I would want her to say.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll probably do a deeper dive in this, maybe on the YouTube channel or something, but like.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, you know, I'm just not happy with seeing the averages so low and how hard everybody's working because it's, it would be one thing if they were just like working from home and lobbing in a couple hours a week.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: Jim owners are working 50, 60, 70 hours a week.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: opening up at five closing at nine at night, doing work in Sundays, missing kids practices, missing big events, not taking their families on vacation for the dream.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: And they're only making, you know, whatever it is, and they're barely making it by barely paying their bills.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: And there's another way.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: And they're just being, there's listen to the wrong advice.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, just listen to the wrong advice and you're taking action on the wrong things.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's what that's really where it's just coming from.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: It says, hey, the Jim owners are struggling.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: The industry is all like you said.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_01]: Jim owners are street.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: The industry struggling.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: The gym ownership, the like the benefit to the owners struggling.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: Where this whole other world is over here with the dinosaur circle guys and girls and they're just, you know, they're just loving life.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: They're loving their gems or teams are operating great.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're traveling the world.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, maybe spend a little too much on drama, you know, that kind of stuff, but like it's up to then they have the time they're not changing the operation and that's really the key it's like
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: How we move these Jim owners from Jim owner operators, a Jim owner, orchestrator, there's orchestrating the thing from afar, they've got a great business, and not only that, they've got a great asset.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: They have an asset that is like a sellable, another good point.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's a whole other topic for another day, but they have a sellable asset where as just a year ago, some of these guys and gals had a unselable business.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the difference between, you know, like you've mentioned before jumping into biz by sell, looking at what a training gym's going for It's a costly equipment, you know, $25, $40,000 for the whole business saw one take my lease take on equipment take my lease, get me out of here.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it like from a sales component, like how that is not an attractive buy.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_00]: for anybody, right?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but at the other end of the spectrum, we've got we've had Jim owners in our own network that have sold for sold an asset for million, you know, $10 million.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's Dan, Daniel, but
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, most of the gyms that we are having the iron circle, they'd be they'd be over a half a million to a million dollars in sales if they're just a single location multiples if they're multiple right but But like that versus, you know, under six figures on biz by cell basically any town in America, you're going to be able to pick up a gym for 60 grand.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: and obligation to the least.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because there is no cash.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably selling it for just what the equipment's worth and get me out of here.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: And some of that, some of those are brands, they're national brands, you know what I mean?
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: Franchise is like, for even just that, right?
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like a one-off standalone location owned by a Jim owner who created the brand themselves to be able to sell for
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm close to a million dollars versus bringing everything that you would think the franchise could do for pretty well.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a lot.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: That's telling you.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: Very telling.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: I might bring that up on stage.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: Good point.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: I might just bring that up on stage.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: Rant is over.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just, fair warning, this is what I'm seeing in the industry.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: I get hit with the same ads you do and I'm like, hey, wait a minute, where are you just an ad agency two months ago and now you're selling coaching on some level?
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: This isn't necessarily me bashing anyone, although there's a lot of reason to bash a lot of people in this industry, it's why why play so small and so close minded when you got you know opportunities to share and and when and everybody can win and
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't we collaborate and all this stuff and there's a couple of guys that that really want to collaborate big names.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm all for that right like why not, but like everybody else that's just like, no, we won't we won't work with we won't we don't want your semi-private pro software because it's tied to Tim Lyons like that's that's literally the words that we always told.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like how small my was even on the call is even on the call.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if they're afraid, I guess, I mean, they're afraid that we're do it better than them.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: I guess.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I mean, whatever.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, that's it for now.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you guys enjoy that one.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully you have big fats of garden.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: You're laughing about this and sharing it all over town because I'm trying to get shared.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: But whatever, whatever, what do I like, like, what happened?
- 28:00[SPEAKER_00]: What happened?
- 28:01[SPEAKER_00]: It was, you know, we believe this.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: We're here to help Jim owners.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it was our
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this ain't helping them win if you're if you're not allowing other people to have the best software because you're afraid of whatever so.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: anyways.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: I need a drink.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: We could have did whiskey Wednesday for that one.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: We should bring that back.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_00]: We need to bring that back.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: I said somebody was that was got a lot of lot of listeners that that like some of our our one-off, you know.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: Brian, don't we have a some whiskey.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: There's plenty of risky at it.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: If what day is Tuesday, I don't know, we have to do it on a Wednesday.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: We got to get a website back here.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have to hook, guys.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's it for this episode.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully that helps you open your mind up a little bit until next time.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Keep changing lives.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see you on the next one.
