- Cindy Marler: Good morning. Welcome again to the Just For Today podcast with your host, me, Cindy Marlar, just here again with my love for children's books. If you're watching on YouTube, here's one of my faves. We're going on a bear hunt by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenberry. I love this. Just me trying to teach basic life principles using children's literature. Okay, I'm gonna read it to you guys. We're going on a bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day. We're not scared. It's just this family and they're playing going on a bear hunt. And then they say, grass, long wavy grass. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. no, we've got to go through it. And then there's pictures of them going through the grass. Swishy, swashy, swishy, swashy, swishy swashy. Then they get through that grass and then what's up next? They get back to their mission. We're going on a bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day. We're not scared. a river, a deep cold river. We can't go over it. We can't go under it. no, we've got to go through it. Splash, splash, splash, splash, splash, splash. So it's this family that is playing this imaginary game of going on a bear hunt. And then there's all these obstacles that come up in their way. And every time they encounter an obstacle, they say the same thing, which is, no. And then they name the obstacle. And then they say, we can't go over it. We can't go under it. What do we have to do? We've got to go through it. And then they go through it and then they get to the other side. I love this book, guys, because this is life in this little cardboard book, is obstacle after obstacle of our life. And we can't go over the obstacles. And we can't go under them. We've just got to go through them. But then if you keep turning the pages of your own life, you get to the other side. And then you get back to the mission, which for this family is going on this beer hunt and they're so excited because they're going to catch a big one. And they say it's such a beautiful day. And then they remind themselves, we're not scared. Do you have to wake up, ever have to wake and tell yourself, I'm not scared of today? No, not me. I'm not scared. But then what happens? Another obstacle. But then they go through that. And you can just see in life that this is how life goes. But then you build your confidence because you're like, well, I've been through obstacles before. I can get through them. I know what happens. And then every time they finish one, they get right back with their mission. We're going on a bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day. We're not scared. What is your mission? Are you reminding yourself at the end of every obstacle to get started again? And are you reminding yourself when it comes, when your obstacles come? Are you reminding yourself, I can't go over it and I can't go under it. I've just got to go through it. I want you to know you can go through it and you can get through it, especially with the Lord at your side. And then when you come out on the other side, just get back to that mission. And there's another obstacle coming. You don't know when, you don't know how, you don't know which one. But when it comes again, you're not gonna go over it. You're not gonna go under it. You're gonna go through it. I believe in you guys and we're doing it together. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
