- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Brain's Body Podcast.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: I'm Dr.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: Christopher Kevin Slate, your host, and we're going to continue our conversation on the sense-feel-focused process cycle.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Because when we talk about reactions to contact, which is loaded with emotion because of the environmental impact of others, and then your own state of mind, we'll say sense to recognize that.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: You want to recognize the state of your own mind.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: In the transfer to a feel, when I say feel, I mean you're going to experience this, but you want to recognize the experience.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Because when you recognize the experience, you're transferring it to the receive path.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Now that's a connection to thought and reflection.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: So now in that forward feet, the brain sends is to calm you down.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Receive it, process.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Now you're responding to realizing I've been here before.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: This has happened to me before.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: Nothing good happens when I just react.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: So let me settle down, pause, and allow myself to catch up.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: My inner self to catch up with the physics of myself because I know how I look and I know how I behave, but I want to change that.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: I want to change that to a more intelligent response pattern that shows I thought about what I just did and I'm catching up and realizing how to improve my responses to contact, interaction, self, other people, and the environment.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And I always say you test what I'm saying in a home, school, neighbor to workplace network, where these are the places that are critical to your survival.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Learn how to live in a home, learn in a school, think in the neighborhood and respond in the workplace because the pressure mounts in those three environments.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: So when I'm talking about sense, feeling focused, I'm saying sense to recognize life inside the home.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Feel that experience because you want to transfer it to the receive path.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Knowingly, you want to understand, I want my sense and receive path to align, so I'm going to help myself by recognizing the experience of my emotion, of the memory that's accumulated.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: But you want that memory to connect with thought of reflection, so it's being pulled into reality.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: So here you just had memory from what?
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: The experience.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Now you have reflective memory from what happened before, in between, and now.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Now you are informed.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: So what are we talking about?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: We're talking about how you receive, process, and respond to information flow.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: So that's what we're talking about.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: Two process loops: sense to feel to focus, receive, process to respond.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: This is brain talk.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: This is the brain's body learning system.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: This is Dr.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Slate Live.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Because when you're in crises and you're lashing out, you can stop yourself because using three things.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I'm sensing to feel to focus myself.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Change the way I respond.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Now, when you do that, you've already shifted the brain to the lead.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: So the brain is receiving, processing, and responding.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Now, test it in the home, test it in the school, test it in the neighborhood, test it in the workplace.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Because this is a learning system to get you moving through the crisis self and beginning to understand what self-awareness really means to you.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Being aware of your states of mind and what self-actualization really means to you, who and what I am when I am performing brain, body, connections, so that I can perform at the highest level possible through thought, reflection, and insight.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So that when I'm moving through the crises of self, and that memory clip hits me, I'm still understanding I must transfer the discomfort to the next step, which is to receive it, process it, and respond.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: No, you have to understand those words because you're processing the words.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Sense to feel to focus.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Wait a minute, to receive, to process, to respond to the complexities of being you.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Because you're not a simple system, you are a complex human system.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: That's why you need to help yourself help move through the crisis cell.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Because anytime your sense path is upset and has negative energy in it, you have to recognize that state of mind.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: You have to recognize what you look like, not allow someone else to tell you what you look like.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: You feel what you look like, but that's not a bad thing because you're transferring it to the brain.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Now the brain sends forward fee, and forward fee analyzes the current information flow.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: So it synthesizes that experience.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: So now you have the negative and the positive.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: But look what you're doing.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: You're aligning your sensory past functions.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: So now you can think through the price itself.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You can understand what you look like and why you look the way you look because you understand the environmental influences are trying to get me to act out a character which concerns me because this is who I really am.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: No, wait a minute.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about performing.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: No one wants to perform poorly, no one wants to make bad choices.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: But when you're not thinking for yourself and other people have programmed your sense path, and you're just reacting, well, you realize the discomfort that you're really experiencing and you want to stop yourself from falling.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: This is Dr.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Slayton Live coming at you.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: This is brain talk.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Stay tuned because we're going to keep coming.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: And the reason why is just we need to start talking about the brain, not as a mental state, because a mental state is a state of mind.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: That's something that's been put together from the experience, and now you're harboring that pattern of behavior.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: But that's not thinking.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: That's processing.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: You're allowing your brain now to think through the crisis self through a sense of feel for the experience of your states of mind.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: Doc stay live, stay tuned.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Be back shortly.
