- 0:11Hello and welcome back to another episode of The Mindset
- 0:14Podcast, episode 86. Charles, what's the latest for
- 0:18you? We've got so much to talk about,
- 0:21so much Sporting News, so much marathon news, so much life
- 0:25news. We've got lots to talk about.
- 0:28Wow. First of all, I'm going to start
- 0:30off with an apology, OK? For anyone who made it through
- 0:32the last episode, an hour and 45, what?
- 0:35It was PB, it was APB for us. It was part of the news that
- 0:40we're going to cover. But you could almost run a
- 0:42marathon in the time that we're doing the podcast.
- 0:44But that was arguably the intention.
- 0:45It was a marathon special, gave some people something to listen
- 0:47to while they were running. Yeah, it was a long one.
- 0:51We're going to try and avoid doing that.
- 0:52And what we've realized is quite often it's because we have too
- 0:56much news and too much my gears, because we end up getting like
- 0:58half an hour in before we move off those.
- 1:00But this episode, there has been so much going on that we're not
- 1:02going to try and squeeze in an athlete and do them a disservice
- 1:05by getting 45 minutes in before we even mention what they're
- 1:08doing with their life. So we are just going to kick it
- 1:10off and basically just doing news, Grandma Gears and Game
- 1:14episode and I think there'll be quite a lot of information about
- 1:17people along the way in there. So with that being said, unless
- 1:20there's anything else, do you want to get involved and start
- 1:23off doing the news? Are we going to try and do news
- 1:26sub two? No, OK, we're not sub two hours,
- 1:29sub two hours. Ideally, yeah, on and on the on
- 1:31that topic. Huge news.
- 1:34I feel like that's going to be the the main talking point of
- 1:36the whole episode is is the the two boys who ran sub two over
- 1:40the weekend. So I'm going to, for now, I'll
- 1:42glaze over that because I want to talk about that in a little
- 1:45bit more detail. Let's just quickly go off off
- 1:48running for a second. I don't know if in the news
- 1:52you've seen that McLaren have started making golf equipment.
- 1:56This excites me. Yeah, and it's not like this
- 1:58really gimmicky. We're good.
- 1:59We'll do a collab with McLaren. They're actually going full in
- 2:02on on making role for equipment and they've signed Justin Rose.
- 2:06So like. Big name like.
- 2:08A big name. I think there's also speculation
- 2:10that they've signed a couple of other big names as well, but
- 2:13they're coming in hot with Justin Rose, so they mean
- 2:15business and he's going to be playing with McLaren clubs for
- 2:18next year. Just putting this out there, if
- 2:20Rory McIlroy, yeah, when and moved away from tailor made,
- 2:24Yeah, how sick would the clothing be for McLaren Slash
- 2:27like X Nike? It would be.
- 2:32We're spending some money on that.
- 2:33Oh, for sure. We're spending some money on
- 2:35that. Yeah, yeah.
- 2:36Yeah, crazy. That would be really cool if
- 2:38they if they can do what they do in Formula One, which is where
- 2:40they basically look for any way to get around the rules on
- 2:43equipment and then make it happen.
- 2:45Like we spoke by the beginning of the season, Ferrari didn't
- 2:48end up running with it, but they had like a rotating wing.
- 2:51Imagine just like a driver that has an electric motor in it
- 2:54because they found a way to make that.
- 2:55Leap. You can lengthen it, yeah.
- 2:57I don't know if you've seen this is a little bit niche for the
- 3:00golf YouTube watchers here, but Rick Shields and a few other
- 3:03Youtubers have tested out the like explosive driver is for
- 3:08like people that are old and can't hit the ball very far.
- 3:10But you put like a cap a capsule in it for like a gun, like a
- 3:12shotgun capsule. And then you load it up and then
- 3:15you can just put a ball in front of it and hit go fires it.
- 3:19So you don't even have to swing it.
- 3:20Yeah, no, you literally just put behind the back and it just, it
- 3:23gets you 200 yards down like a gun.
- 3:25Yeah, yeah, literally. Yeah, I might look into that.
- 3:27They are sick. Yeah, they are fun.
- 3:29Anyway, onto. More news.
- 3:31More News Yes. So NFL draft like last weekend
- 3:35it was, yeah. I think that will also be last
- 3:38weekend for you guys listening. Yeah, I'll just say the first
- 3:41pick went to the Raiders and they selected Fernando Mendoza,
- 3:46who played in for Indiana last season.
- 3:48He was actually the Heisman winner.
- 3:50He was 2025 S case quarterback for the Raiders.
- 3:52So be interested to see how he goes in in the in the big boy
- 3:55league next. Very, very talented player from
- 3:57what I saw, obviously Indiana when we were talking about them
- 3:59winning college player first time ever.
- 4:02He's actually got a younger brother really also pretty good
- 4:05who just recently transferred. So it'll be interesting to see
- 4:07if a bit like, I don't know if you'll know these guys, the tug
- 4:09of all lower brothers, 2 tug of all lower had more concussions,
- 4:15I think than passes in his recent, but he was by far one of
- 4:19the the phenoms coming out of college.
- 4:21He had a younger brother who just didn't convert and everyone
- 4:24was like, oh, he's going to be as good, if not bad.
- 4:25And it didn't happen. So it'll be interesting to see
- 4:27if with the Mendoza family, if they can do it.
- 4:29But I will say that he is arguably like, and he not in
- 4:33like a bad way at all, but he's probably the most like white
- 4:37quarterback for quite some time. Yeah.
- 4:39Yeah. He's your NFL prototype pocket
- 4:41pass. Yeah.
- 4:42OK. Get the job done.
- 4:43Yeah, yeah. And just will do what he needs
- 4:45to do to not get injured but win games.
- 4:47Is he going to be the the face of the franchise?
- 4:49Well, this is the typical thing. I don't know if you've seen the
- 4:51the drama around it. Is that he?
- 4:54So you said who he'd been drafted by.
- 4:56Yeah. So they have also just paid a
- 4:58lot of money to their starting quarterback.
- 5:00Oh really in the next few years. So we'll let.
- 5:02Them that seems to always happen.
- 5:04Yeah. And do you know, do you know
- 5:05what from like inside the sport? Inside the sport is not a bad
- 5:08idea. Like sign someone really good,
- 5:11give them a few years to learn and then get them going.
- 5:13If you sign someone good out of college and you throw them
- 5:15straight and it's very, very rare unless they're a physical
- 5:18presence. There have been a few cases out
- 5:20there because. Cam Newton was great, but like,
- 5:22again, his difference wasn't like his ability to read the
- 5:25game. His ability was just to run
- 5:26people and be like, really? Because I've I've been
- 5:29disappointed with like Trevor Lawrence and his presence in the
- 5:32league, but he's I guess he's just not got the team around him
- 5:35and. Yeah, so he, that's the thing
- 5:37that I I love about American sport is that the draft system
- 5:39is designed to kind of neutralize across years.
- 5:42So the worst team will get the first picks unless they've
- 5:44traded them. Trevor went to, at the time, the
- 5:48worst team in the league by far and the problem was that they
- 5:50didn't have a strategy for like, easing him in.
- 5:53It was just like you're going and you have to, you have to.
- 5:55Bring up he didn't start first game, but he probably should
- 5:59have done because the guy who was ahead of him had been
- 6:00notoriously a backup for other teams.
- 6:02And then he came in and kind of just had to deal with what he
- 6:05got. And it happened so many times
- 6:07and a lot of quarterbacks might enter the league and they'll be
- 6:11frustrated that they don't get to start because they're the
- 6:12best thing since like, but then actually.
- 6:15And they've been worshipped throughout their whole college
- 6:17career and high school career as well.
- 6:18And then it's those guys that end up not really making it
- 6:21because they they don't know what they're doing.
- 6:22Yeah, well, Brady, for example, was draft like I don't know how
- 6:26low down. He went 190.
- 6:28Six, he went like slow, and then it's obviously one of the
- 6:31greatest, if not the greatest. Same, same with Patrick Mahomes,
- 6:34which is a more like household name.
- 6:35Like he was drafted in the first round and he was considered one
- 6:40of the best players. But then he sat for I think 2
- 6:43years. Oh really?
- 6:45He got some reps He sat for two years behind a very, very good
- 6:48player. Learn how he controlled it and
- 6:51then brought in his talent and the things that he would do
- 6:54differently leading the team and then was incredible.
- 6:59So yeah, anyway, what's next? I've got Nellie Corder, so she's
- 7:05a female golfer. She won her third ever major
- 7:09over the weekend. It's called the Chevron
- 7:11Championship. I think it's one of their five
- 7:14majors that they're going to have this year.
- 7:16So she started the year strong. As a result of that win, she's
- 7:19also reclaimed top spot. So she's ranked now world number
- 7:23one female golfer, so going to probably have a pretty
- 7:27successful career over this year.
- 7:30She also equaled, I think it was the lowest shooting score across
- 7:3354 holes at that event and then won the event by record five
- 7:38shots or something like that. So she was like, she was playing
- 7:41some good golf, which was really cool.
- 7:43I've got, I've got a G1, but I want to come back to it because
- 7:46I feel like we're just talking about golf.
- 7:47OK, fine. We're going to recap very
- 7:49quickly. It feels like ages ago now, but
- 7:52the High Rocks Elite 15 Warsaw, which was the final major of the
- 7:55season. So what did we see there?
- 7:57Well, Joanna Beatrick won the Grand Slam.
- 8:00She's won every single major this season, and she set a world
- 8:03record. So she ran in a time of 54
- 8:05minutes, 25 seconds, which is absolutely insane.
- 8:07It's also worth saying that Lauren Weeks, who finished
- 8:09second, also broke the old world record.
- 8:11And what we learned pretty quickly was this could be a fast
- 8:14course. And then following that, Alex
- 8:17Ronchovich won that race and ran that in a world record time of
- 8:225129, which is just absurd because that's almost a minute
- 8:25quicker than the world record we saw a month ago in London, which
- 8:28was almost a minute quicker than the previous record.
- 8:30So it's just a bit mad at the moment.
- 8:31And I think people are starting to understand the world records
- 8:33probably don't mean that much anymore, and that's why the.
- 8:36I think, yeah, at this point in the like in the sports like
- 8:39infancy, it's still growing. It's still like adapting and
- 8:42learning and kind of standardizing things.
- 8:44That's natural to happen, but it doesn't take away from the fact
- 8:47that these are incredible athletes doing incredible things
- 8:50and I think it was probably the conditions were really good in
- 8:53Warsaw. Exactly 1 of the interesting
- 8:54things as well, which probably wouldn't get spoken about
- 8:56normally, but from being there, it was actually really cold in
- 9:00the stadium, which for the athletes, a lot of them are
- 9:02doing heat training, it's just like a real bonus.
- 9:04But I think like physiologically, the cooler it
- 9:06is. I don't want to misspeak and,
- 9:08and we'll talk about this with the marathon over the weekend in
- 9:10London as well. I've kind of written it off as a
- 9:13fast course because it was, I got to the course at like 9:00
- 9:16AM and I was already like shorts and T-shirt, like it's warm.
- 9:19So I kind of written it off And all of the, the commentary in
- 9:22Warsaw around the high rocks are like, oh, it's colder in the
- 9:24venue. I'm like, yeah, naturally you
- 9:26want conditions to be like 3-4 degrees if you're actually like
- 9:29looking at the science behind it.
- 9:30So naturally you're going to sweat less.
- 9:33Your heart rate is going to stay a little bit more consistent or
- 9:35lower for longer and you're not going to have to worry about dry
- 9:38mouth or taking on as much water etcetera, etcetera.
- 9:41So like it is conducive to being faster.
- 9:43So naturally, as we saw that will definitely contribute.
- 9:47To it and I think, I think all of the like all of the athletes
- 9:49were commenting when they were turning up and noticeably, and I
- 9:52don't know if this was a timing thing, if this was a deliberate
- 9:54thing, but I noticed on both of the nights for the solos and the
- 9:57double S between the women's race and the men's race, it
- 10:01dropped. Oh, really?
- 10:02Like I was running around with my camera, as you know.
- 10:04Yeah, I got my appearances on everybody.
- 10:05Yeah, you did. Yeah, Yeah.
- 10:07Instagrams, but it's like the drinking game.
- 10:09I yeah, I, I was absolutely shorts and AT shirt gave my
- 10:12hoodie and my bag to someone else for the women's race.
- 10:14And then by the men's race, I was asking for my hoodie bag
- 10:16still running around. So I was like, it's actually
- 10:18kind of cold in here. Yeah.
- 10:19And so that was that. The only other thing really
- 10:22worth mentioning 'cause there weren't any world records in the
- 10:24Double S races, was that the Roxfit team of superstars broke
- 10:31the world record for the mixed relay.
- 10:33So they ran a 56, sorry, a 4647. So that team was Joanna Eatrich,
- 10:40Charlie Bottrell, Sinead Ben and Sebastian Iferson, who also.
- 10:45Crazy team, yeah. Unreal team and again watching
- 10:48it crazy crazy so fast. So that was a.
- 10:51Lot did Lauren Weekson. Was it to Futo?
- 10:53Did they run together? Did they not break the world
- 10:55record? I don't.
- 10:57I think it was a world. Record, but they've now won
- 10:59every race that they've raced together or at least got faster
- 11:02through. Yeah.
- 11:03And what's really interesting about the way that the hierarchy
- 11:05system is going next year and that you can only be paired up
- 11:07with some. So they're probably gonna stay
- 11:09together, this team, which is cool.
- 11:10And I will say from watching Vivian race in person, she looks
- 11:13so unbothered about being there. And like, I will also say Lauren
- 11:17Weeks is a far stronger runner. So she is being dragged, but she
- 11:20just looks like kind of annoyed the whole time.
- 11:22And she just does get through it.
- 11:23Yeah, It's like. It's incredible that she manages
- 11:26because it looks like she's having a miserable time and you
- 11:28look at Lauren and she just looks like she's having the best
- 11:30time ever. What I am excited to see though
- 11:33is Joanna versus Lauren in the double srace.com because
- 11:36obviously Joanna didn't do her double S race there.
- 11:39So it was kind of just like, OK, this is interesting.
- 11:41No, it's set set up to be a really good way to finish the
- 11:43season. But there was time, I think.
- 11:45I think you called Alex Roncovich as well.
- 11:46You were saying he was going to win, I think.
- 11:48So we couldn't overlook Joanna when we kind of took our
- 11:51predictions there. And then Charlie SEL and Lauren
- 11:54Stockley managed to get there. So, so good.
- 11:56And I mean, I don't know if she'll listen to this, but
- 11:58Lauren's dive across the line, which is completely
- 12:01unintentional, was incredible. So good.
- 12:03Bless her. She's such a good video, yeah,
- 12:05as well. And bless her, she, I think she
- 12:07really hurt herself doing it. But like, she kind of, yeah, I
- 12:11have to be happy. But that was that was really.
- 12:14Yeah, really pleased for them. Moving on from high rocks, we
- 12:18should talk probably women's Six Nations round it up.
- 12:21Yeah. So Week 3 that we're on now, I
- 12:24think England are just like allergic to doing anything less
- 12:28than 50. They're quite good.
- 12:30So they are quite good at 62 to 24.
- 12:32Last weekend Italy beat Scotland 4114, France beat Ireland 26 to
- 12:387. And so that's where we're going
- 12:41at the moment. It's looking like the roses.
- 12:43Are going to this week I think the the weekend before when
- 12:47England played Scotland. I think Ellie Kildonn, our mate.
- 12:53Yeah. She scored her 50th England try,
- 12:57which was really cool as well. Yeah.
- 12:58Yeah, that was cool. And then she started.
- 13:01We all got confused. We saw we saw all the Instagram
- 13:03posts of Ellie starting the London Marathon.
- 13:05We're like, what, the day after she played a game?
- 13:07Yeah. The starting was she pressed the
- 13:09big red button with Mo Farah to initiate the event.
- 13:12Yeah. She didn't actually run it,
- 13:14which would have been really cool.
- 13:15It would have been crazy. Yeah.
- 13:16Yeah. But that's also also on the on
- 13:18the news as well. Bringing it back to golf, I've
- 13:21got a slightly niche bit of information.
- 13:25I just Oh no, I can't find it. I will continue scrolling as I
- 13:29explained, but there is an Oh yeah unofficial golf world
- 13:31record through 72 holes and. I can't wait for you to
- 13:36pronounce this guy's name. And Andreas called Andreas van
- 13:41de Vifer through 72 holes was 35 under par, under 19.
- 13:46It's unofficial because there's only footage of him on his last
- 13:49round. OK.
- 13:50But like, it wasn't an event that was televised or anything.
- 13:53He went 35 under through tall. Level, even even if it's, yeah,
- 13:58I mean, even if there's no footage of it, there's got to be
- 14:00people there watching and they've verified the scores
- 14:03after every round. So it's like, that's still
- 14:05unbelievable. Imagine.
- 14:07Yeah, so keep an eye on his name because.
- 14:09If he, that's really cool. Doing that in his career, then
- 14:11he will be. That's really cool.
- 14:13What's next? I think you've got to go for
- 14:15your mate LeBron James. Right, OK, now this this is in
- 14:20this is just crazy to me. So at the moment, for context,
- 14:23it's the NBA Finals. And so we're in like the play
- 14:27offs and the LA Lakers who LeBron plays for are playing
- 14:31against the Houston Rockets. Now going into this some further
- 14:34context is that the LA Lakers have got some pretty big
- 14:38injuries and they are missing probably the two best players
- 14:41there of of the on their roster for the season.
- 14:45And what that comes down to then is you've got LeBron James, who
- 14:48is always in the GOAT debate. I don't think there should be a
- 14:52single debate. I've been thinking not now.
- 14:54Yeah, for for a while now, I've been thinking that debate's
- 14:57probably over What he's doing at the moment is absolutely absurd.
- 15:02So with no real team, LeBron admitted that he's just going to
- 15:06have to give everything he can. And it was supposed to be
- 15:09Rockets win in four games of A7 game series.
- 15:13So you win. If you win 4, you win the
- 15:15series. The LA Lakers went three up in
- 15:19the series and he was playing some of the most outrageous
- 15:23basketball I've seen him play in his career.
- 15:25There's that clip that's going around at the moment where it's
- 15:27like they're three points back or something, and it's like
- 15:32rookie versus LeBron and Lebron's, what, 41?
- 15:37And LeBron chases back after him, slaps the ball out of his
- 15:41hand, gets the ball again, comes out for three jumps over like 2
- 15:46guys and just slots it, drains it.
- 15:48Like yeah, like proper. Absolutely like.
- 15:51Your watching the thing. That's the thing that I love
- 15:54about this and like I appreciate so much about that we're living
- 15:56in the era that he's playing is when I see him do stuff like
- 15:58this, it makes me excited for the documentary.
- 16:00I was going to say something like I can't wait for.
- 16:02A bit of this that's going to be unreal.
- 16:04The other thing that's crazy is. You'll be sat there with your
- 16:08kids in like 20-30 years time. Be like, I remember watching
- 16:12this live. I'm gonna.
- 16:12Be I'm gonna be sat there with my kids and I'm gonna be so
- 16:14disappointed in them because let's some of the some of the
- 16:17best comments I've seen online is that think of all the things
- 16:23as a as a man that you have done in your free time.
- 16:26And what LeBron has done with his free time is made a child
- 16:31that has gone on to be the reason they won the third
- 16:33playoff game because Bronny Lebron's son is also playing on
- 16:39the same team as him, which is just another reason that he's
- 16:41noted like he's been playing so long that he's actually raised
- 16:43the child in his career that he's now good enough to be on
- 16:46his. That's crazy.
- 16:47And then his son got five points, which some of which he
- 16:50assisted with. But when the Lakers beat the
- 16:55Rockets in that third game, they won by 4 points.
- 16:58So without Bronny's points, they wouldn't have won the.
- 17:01So as a result, there was there was stats going around of like
- 17:05Lebron's total scoring for that game with.
- 17:09Combined with Bronie. 'S points on there because it
- 17:11was like without him that would have.
- 17:14But there's also like an insanely cool clip, which like
- 17:17made me almost emotional of launching LeBron on the
- 17:22three-point line. Take a step in looking like he's
- 17:25going to shoot and it's just an alley oop for his son to go and
- 17:27just dunk it and all. Like not dunk it, but like layup
- 17:30first layup and like watching that.
- 17:32I'm just like, imagine that must be the most insane feeling to
- 17:35your father, like assisting your son like that.
- 17:41That's the power of sport, isn't it?
- 17:42I, I think it's, it's over and done with for me that the debate
- 17:46is that there shouldn't be a debate.
- 17:48Michael, I will give Michael Jordan the credit of he's like
- 17:51the initial chef in that he was doing things which now 90, I
- 17:57would say 90% of players in the league can do what Michael
- 18:00Jordan used to do. He was just the first to do it.
- 18:03And I think that's insane. But I think when you think about
- 18:06the fact that in the 90s Jordan was playing against like 1 Hall
- 18:10of Famer which was Larry Bird. LeBron James goes against teams
- 18:14with four Hall of Fames in the and still comes out on top is
- 18:17enough for me. But there's so much like
- 18:18cultural significance around Michael Jordan as well, and I'm
- 18:21sure there is as well around LeBron James.
- 18:23But it's just like, yeah, it's interesting because they're both
- 18:27such household names. It'd be interesting to know,
- 18:29like, worldwide, who more people know of.
- 18:32Is it MJ or is it LeBron? I think that's tough because.
- 18:36That's like personal branding as well, but I'm thinking like.
- 18:38The Jordan brand is like, so wild, yeah.
- 18:42But then, the LeBron career has lasted 20.
- 18:45Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get that as well.
- 18:46Which is insane. Yeah, but like Michael Jordan
- 18:48played baseball as well. Because he couldn't hang enough
- 18:51in basketball. Anyway, what have we got next?
- 18:55Should we shout out some of the the marathoners?
- 18:58Yes. So we'll go away from the elites
- 19:01first. George Grassley, right.
- 19:03So we have to shout out. George Grassley won the London
- 19:07Marathon this weekend, just gone with a time of two hours, 12.
- 19:09And I'd be specific, he won the mass.
- 19:11So he didn't win the elites as we'll get on to.
- 19:14But George previously had run London Marathon last year and
- 19:18his goal this year was to be 215 because that's in theory like an
- 19:22elite marathon time. George ran 3/09 per kilometer
- 19:29for the 42.2 kilometers, finishing in a time of two hours
- 19:33and 12 minutes, which is absolutely ridiculous pacing
- 19:37from him when in theory he needed to hold 310 for his
- 19:41target time, which I think his his original target time was
- 19:44actually 214 is what he wanted, but he needed to run 310 and
- 19:47then he actually ran faster than that.
- 19:49Strava says three O 9. I actually think based on the
- 19:52distance end up being more like three O 7, three O 8, which
- 19:55doesn't sound like a lot, but to be faster than a time you've
- 19:58never run before for the marathon distance by that much
- 20:02is actually pretty insane, so hats off.
- 20:04Yeah, absolutely incredible performance.
- 20:06And like the stars must have aligned and I can't imagine how
- 20:11good it would have felt because there's I think there was a
- 20:14point where it was him and two paces and he was just kind of
- 20:18tucked between the two paces. But then the paces will finish
- 20:21the race basically I think somewhere around probably 30K.
- 20:25And then it's just him by himself through the streets of
- 20:29London, which were like, I've never, I've been to the marathon
- 20:33a lot of times living in London my whole life last maybe like 4
- 20:37years. I go to the same spot.
- 20:39This was the first time that I've arrived at that spot and
- 20:42I'm like. Three people deep already.
- 20:44It was busy. It was like, and that was early
- 20:47so I can't imagine what it would have felt like running down
- 20:49embankment with like 5 deep of people just screaming at you and
- 20:53it's just you by yourself like that.
- 20:55That has to be a contributing factor to why he ran so so fast
- 20:59and ran so well. And he also like he looked
- 21:01fucking good doing it. Oh yeah, he lives smooth.
- 21:03So good. One interesting fact for you
- 21:05saying is that we seem to have the most outrageous network.
- 21:08You used to live with George. Me, I thought, no, I went to
- 21:10school with him. Oh, you went to school?
- 21:12Count on the fact that we, yeah, we went to posh school and and
- 21:15boarded together essentially. Yeah, they live.
- 21:17Yeah, yeah, yeah. We went to school together.
- 21:20That's so it's actually crazy. Yeah, Yeah.
- 21:23We are actually looking to get George on.
- 21:24If George is listening to this, this is a reminder of your
- 21:27invite. But we did speak about it last
- 21:29week before you became famous. The open invite.
- 21:31So if you want to come on and talk us through how it actually
- 21:33felt, I'm sure all of the listeners listening to me say
- 21:36this right now would absolutely love to hear how your training
- 21:40has gone because you do also work a nine till 5.
- 21:43That's that's the best bit about it.
- 21:44One of the things as well, if we're going to get into his
- 21:46training, I can tell you and you know this, George runs his easy
- 21:50runs to and from his nine to five job to get his mileage in.
- 21:54And that can be anything from like 15 to 20 K pre work and 10
- 21:58to 15 K after work because I know he front loads his volume
- 22:01daily and weekly. But yeah, just.
- 22:04His straw was a good place to go and and have a little look
- 22:07through the the best is like run to work in the morning and then
- 22:12run from the office to Battersea to then do your session to then
- 22:16run home. He was just on I think Times
- 22:20radio or something. He did an interview because now
- 22:22he's famous and the guy was like if you went pro and essentially
- 22:28just left your job. I think he works in finance.
- 22:31Left your job. How much more running volume
- 22:33would you do? The guys like I can't do any
- 22:36more running. Like he's on 200K weeks and like
- 22:39no, no one really is running more than two 100K weeks.
- 22:42But he was saying the the marginal gains where he could
- 22:45get faster would be he'd have more time to recover.
- 22:48He'd have more time to actually do strength training because
- 22:51those are the things, the first things to go, like you have to
- 22:53prioritize your running. I'll be interested.
- 22:55Like we've got to get him on. We've got to talk about.
- 22:57Well, we, we will. What I will say is I'll give and
- 22:59this is only fair because Roscoe gets involved with us a lot.
- 23:02Roscoe did actually do a podcast with him conveniently a week
- 23:05ago. So if you guys do want to hear a
- 23:06bit about George, then go and check that out on the Diastyles
- 23:09Monday podcast, because George does talk a bit through about
- 23:12his preparation for this race. And obviously he's he's not done
- 23:15actually, he's he's not completed many marathons and
- 23:19really like race them. So it was interesting to see how
- 23:21his prep was. And one of the things he did say
- 23:23was he couldn't do much volume, much more volume.
- 23:25If if he wasn't working his job. The thing that would be he would
- 23:29have more of a focus on his strength training.
- 23:31Because right now he honestly says, I just avoid it like I'm
- 23:35supposed to. I just don't bother.
- 23:36I hate it. But then also.
- 23:39That's going to be a really frustrating thing for people to
- 23:41hear. And then, and then the thing
- 23:43that's also really interesting about him saying that, you know,
- 23:45his job is his opportunity to rest, like it's forced rest.
- 23:47So he when he sits down in that chair, he's actually deloading
- 23:50his legs and he's he's forced to do it.
- 23:51But it mentally is so different. It's training.
- 23:54Whereas I mean, I've experienced this in a career shift, but you
- 23:57go from doing something that you enjoy doing and then you don't
- 24:00have the sort of forced thing that you have to do, which then
- 24:05makes you want to do your training and your whatever it is
- 24:08more. You suddenly kind of get this
- 24:10blurred line of like, oh, this is kind of my job now.
- 24:12And like if you have a bad day doing the thing you love, that
- 24:14you've had a bad day at work and kind of all blurred.
- 24:17And so I think that's a really difficult thing for someone at
- 24:20his level to cross into the elite.
- 24:21Like some people really don't find it very easy.
- 24:25And so I can imagine there is a bit of hesitation to do that.
- 24:28Yeah. And I think the reason why we're
- 24:29so excited is like, to put it into perspective, that's one of
- 24:33the fastest British marathons this season.
- 24:37Yeah. Didn't you say it was something
- 24:38like top 10 maybe? I don't know if it's top 10, but
- 24:40it's like it's going to be up there because you're obviously
- 24:43like the first finisher, British finisher for the marathon on
- 24:47Sunday was Mohammed. Mohammed.
- 24:48He ran a two O 6. So there's like there's still a
- 24:51big gap. And I'd say the closer you get
- 24:53to those numbers, probably the harder it is to to eke out like
- 24:57the extra minutes that you need. But whilst we're talking about
- 25:01Roscoe and his podcast, like he also ran, he ran on Sunday, he
- 25:04ran I've got it written down somewhere.
- 25:06He ran A23451. 334 sorry God yeah yeah but no honestly for a
- 25:13first marathon as well like his first time doing it I think 3
- 25:16weeks before didn't think it was worth investing in new shoes and
- 25:19his shoes currently shoes he did most of his training in for his
- 25:22block I think had over 1.2000 mark like KS in them so.
- 25:27Yeah, he's going to hope when we edit it, we leave my the 2:30.
- 25:30Four. Yeah, yeah, he's in.
- 25:31He's going to. He's going to make a reel out of
- 25:33that, I'm sure. But no, he he looked really good
- 25:36out there and it's obviously not the first time he's like covered
- 25:38the distance because he's done an Iron Man and then he did the
- 25:41trail marathon that you did. But it's his first like proper
- 25:44marathon race. On tarmac race.
- 25:47And so, yeah, big congratulations to Roscoe.
- 25:49Who else did? So to long term podcast
- 25:53listeners and also podcast contributors, they'll know who
- 25:56they are. So we've got Nick Billett ran
- 25:58230 O 4 and that's correct. That is A2 to start with, which
- 26:01is unbelievable quick. He messaged me and he said those
- 26:054 seconds were going to haunt him forever.
- 26:07Yeah, I was like, you just get, get your money's worth.
- 26:09Four extra seconds. Yeah.
- 26:11Yeah, exactly. Of like soaking up the cheering
- 26:13a. Lot I do when I play golf mate,
- 26:14you know I use the whole. Course, lots of shots, we'll see
- 26:16the whole thing and then Ollie Clark ran a 24259 so which is
- 26:21also like the sub 243. We've like yeah, exactly smashed
- 26:25it. We've been deconditioned because
- 26:27there's so many people who like run incredible times and you
- 26:30look at that and you go just even getting close to three
- 26:33hours is so good. To go sub 3 is just like mind
- 26:36blowing. George Grassy's ruined it for
- 26:38everyone. You see you can run like close
- 26:40to 210, which is mental. Gordon Law ran a 3/28/20. 3:30
- 26:46Which actually is well for some context, knowing Gordon like he
- 26:49wasn't very well. No, he was well, and you've
- 26:51been. Quail.
- 26:51So like pulling that out of the bag.
- 26:53Fair play. Do you know who he's coached by?
- 26:56Is it George? It's George Varsity, of course.
- 26:58Great weekend all round. Professionally, Adam or
- 27:00whatever. Then we've got not.
- 27:02I should also say, yeah, not officially like unofficially
- 27:05like advice. Advise Yeah, yeah.
- 27:07Consultant. Yes, marathon coach Consultant
- 27:10Holly Archer, who's kind of like bridged the gap into high rocks
- 27:13recently. Yeah.
- 27:14Maybe. Yeah.
- 27:16There's probably more controversy to talk around her
- 27:18for the for Warsaw, but maybe we skip over that because she had a
- 27:22great race in London. She ran 23344, came fourth of
- 27:25the masses. That's mad.
- 27:27Which is crazy fast. Considering like there was no
- 27:29like real marathon block in training.
- 27:31Yeah, yeah, yeah. So just like incredibly pretty
- 27:33impressive. And then we've got a few more
- 27:36quickly run through them. Troit Haynes.
- 27:38Yeah. Not in jeans this time, though.
- 27:39So I was just pointed out. I saw him run past.
- 27:43I was like, I was really glad I saw him.
- 27:44But yeah, I was sad he wasn't. Wearing hasn't he because he ran
- 27:47I can see you on your screen 23235 he run on very similar
- 27:50time in genes before. I think so, yeah.
- 27:53So like I think so I, I saw his Instagram post, he said he
- 27:56didn't run with GPS because he just wanted to like see what he
- 27:59could do intuitively. He saw our reel about Paula.
- 28:02Yeah, must have been, Yeah. And he, he said he reckons he's
- 28:06got more. He he left some some like some
- 28:10probably some time on the table after that.
- 28:12He he reckons he can go faster. But his big thing if you if you
- 28:15don't know he's he's pledged that he's going to try and make
- 28:18the Olympic trials and he needs a time of 216 and like all of
- 28:23the marathon world and all of the runner is up in arms that
- 28:25he's even made that claim. But like to bridge the gap from
- 28:29a two 3015 minutes to get down to two.
- 28:33It is a lot, but you know, I'd I'd love to see him.
- 28:37Do I think he's cool? I think he's a good a good
- 28:39ambassador for the sport of running.
- 28:42But yeah, if you can do it, that would be incredible.
- 28:45A few more Alish Mccogland. I think it was a Scottish
- 28:48record, but she ran 224. She's the first Brit slightly
- 28:53slower than her PB. She's obviously an incredible
- 28:55runner, but I don't know if you saw the photos of her foot.
- 28:58Not good for her shoe brand, but like her whole shoe and sock was
- 29:02like red with blood. And then she posted some like
- 29:05pretty graphic photos off of of like the bottom of her toe would
- 29:08like come off and there's an interview.
- 29:10She was like, I felt my foot explode.
- 29:13I was like, that doesn't sound great.
- 29:14She had a pretty rough time out there, so I don't know if it was
- 29:17a new shoe or whatever. And then finally Alex Yee, who
- 29:21was one of the Pacers, I was reading an interview.
- 29:24I was like, maybe he accidentally paced Jack Rowe a
- 29:27little bit too fast 'cause Jack ran faster than Alex Yee's time
- 29:30so I don't know if he's kicking himself.
- 29:32And then there were, there were a few.
- 29:34I mean, there's loads of great performances that we could talk
- 29:36about. But I think obviously the stand
- 29:39out we need to talk about is we've got two guys who've both
- 29:42run sub two and like we can deep dive into that.
- 29:47Before we do that, I need to go and chat about the girls race
- 29:51because we had, we can't skip over that.
- 29:53It was a the women's only record was broken by a SEFA who's now
- 29:58gone back-to-back London Marathons, which is incredible.
- 30:02It was the first race I think where three women have run sub
- 30:06216, which is also incredible. But it was a really interesting
- 30:11race to watch. If you haven't watched it, you
- 30:13should go back. I don't know if there's
- 30:14highlights, but you can kind of scrub through the live coverage.
- 30:17They went so hard for the first half and it was an interesting
- 30:22battle between the top three girls, but it felt like they
- 30:26probably went a little bit too hot on the flip to how the men
- 30:30ran it, which was just incredible.
- 30:31And we'll talk about that now. But maybe they got a bit excited
- 30:34over the the occasion. But yeah, that's, that's kind of
- 30:36the women's race. But I guess now the the the main
- 30:40course. Yeah, well, well, hot topic,
- 30:42first of all, those of you that do hierarchs and know hierarchs
- 30:44can all understand this was just a fast course at the end of the
- 30:47day. That's what it was.
- 30:49But no, let's let's be clear. I'm pretty sure did third place
- 30:56in the men's race beat the world record.
- 30:59Yeah. So third place beat the world
- 31:01record. Yeah.
- 31:02And came third. Jacob Limo.
- 31:04Yeah. Wild, wild thing.
- 31:06And we were talking about Kapimo last year.
- 31:08Because he he ran some ridiculous half marathon time.
- 31:12Yeah, I think back in Valencia and we were chatting about could
- 31:15he make the step up to marathon distance?
- 31:17And clearly yes he has, but unfortunately two other people
- 31:21have as well. So we had two sub two hours.
- 31:24The winning time was at 15930 and the next time was.
- 31:29Kojochka ran was it 140? I think he he matched or was
- 31:36very close to matching what Kipchogi did for his breaking 2
- 31:40attempts, which is like the controversial or like the main
- 31:46talking point is that there was so much funding behind that Nike
- 31:49attempt and so much science behind it and the team of Pacers
- 31:53and lasers and nutrition strategy.
- 31:54And I'm like, yes, there was a lot put into that.
- 31:58And yeah, maybe it's kind of tough for Nike to see two Adidas
- 32:01runners run faster in an actual official event.
- 32:05But also, like, Sebastian Soiree and Cajuncture aren't going into
- 32:09this marathon with like, no preparation.
- 32:11They've got a whole team behind them.
- 32:13They've got Adidas making their shoes for them and creating like
- 32:16the most scientifically advanced fastest trainer possible.
- 32:19They've got a whole nutrition team behind them.
- 32:21They've got like, I think, And I was, I was actually listening to
- 32:25Paula Radcliff's podcast. They did like a debrief after
- 32:28the race. And she was talking to Steve
- 32:32Cram, who's one of the commentators at some point had
- 32:35the world record mile time as well.
- 32:38So like really great runners. They'd run computer simulations
- 32:42of like the perfect race and with the shoes, the terrain, the
- 32:46temperature, everything, all nutrition strategy all factored
- 32:49in. I think it came out and it said
- 32:51the fastest you can run is a 159, like 30 something.
- 32:57So it's like it was literally bang on what he ran, which is
- 33:00like crazy to think. But then I'm like, does that put
- 33:04a time in his head? That's the fastest you can run?
- 33:09Or could he have gone quicker if he didn't know that?
- 33:13Yeah, maybe. Do you know there was like a
- 33:14ceiling they went, if everything's perfect, you run
- 33:17this fast. But if they hadn't told him.
- 33:20So it's just interesting to think I.
- 33:22Feel like with the with that barrier having been in place for
- 33:25so long, though, like you would, you would expect that that
- 33:28theoretical barrier, now that the science has caught up and
- 33:31like they're able to predict things, you would expect them to
- 33:33not be like, Oh yeah, you could probably do a 154.
- 33:35Yeah. It would be like so close to sub
- 33:38two. And if you haven't run sub two
- 33:40before, you'd be like, I think on the on the perfect day, yeah,
- 33:43I probably can the person on the brakes too.
- 33:45But you're right. If if they were like, do you
- 33:47know what, whether shoe the way you're running at the moment,
- 33:50everything's lining up to you could even go sub 159 maybe, but
- 33:54I don't think it was ever going to be like.
- 33:56But I do think like the stars had aligned and he probably had
- 34:00close to what we could consider a perfect race.
- 34:02I I think probably their main threats going.
- 34:07So this is from a perspective of Sebastian Soi, the guy who won.
- 34:11I believe they'd have thought their main threat was coming
- 34:13from Kip Limo so could joke out of context.
- 34:18Well, for context, that was his debut marathon.
- 34:21So so like, that in itself is just truly mental.
- 34:25So the first time he'd ever run a race at marathon distance, I
- 34:29think that helped the race. I was going to say you because
- 34:33you're with someone. Yeah, so So what?
- 34:35So I've I've seen so many memes and like loads of stuff coming
- 34:38out. Imagine running sub two and not
- 34:41winning. Yeah.
- 34:42And like this poor guy on his debut has come second to maybe
- 34:45the best little web for sure is the best ever marathon ever run.
- 34:50But I think the fact that he was on debut maybe was a little bit
- 34:55kamikaze with his pace and like didn't really know how he was
- 34:58going to feel. So I think that helped.
- 35:00So one hurt Kip limo, like they dropped him and I think it then
- 35:05pushed Sebastian's like go on and run as fast as he did,
- 35:09because without that he may have just like, well, I've dropped
- 35:11Jacob limo. I can slow up now because I know
- 35:14I'm going to win. I think one of the things that
- 35:16I've always found when I'm even if I'm doing like a workout kind
- 35:20of with someone against someone I'm getting competitive is like
- 35:23if I'm in the whole and actually, you know this very
- 35:25well because of the group that the training group you put
- 35:27together a couple of years ago. But I could be in so much pain
- 35:32and the person to the left or right of me could also be in so
- 35:34much pain, but because they haven't stopped, I refuse to.
- 35:39And so if I'm running along and fair enough, there might have
- 35:41been like a 15 second difference by the end of the race, but
- 35:44there definitely wasn't up until like the last few kilometers.
- 35:46So if I'm like, God, I'm, I'm hurting, but then this person
- 35:50just hang onto my hip and like, if they can do it, I can do it.
- 35:53Whether they're thinking the exact same thing and we're both
- 35:56thinking, I don't know if I can do this anymore just simply
- 35:58because they are there. I have to be able to do it if
- 36:01they're able. To do it I can do it also.
- 36:04And I also wonder if Sebastian, he's like, I cannot lose to a
- 36:06guy who's running his first competitive marriage.
- 36:08Maybe. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 36:09Imagine. Yeah, yeah, it is incredible.
- 36:11But also like when you think of this, this computer simulation,
- 36:16I don't know if they'd factored in, like what if XYZ makes a
- 36:19move? Do I cover that move?
- 36:21Yeah. But it's like the the team know
- 36:23that he can run that fast. They, they just haven't put
- 36:26together the perfect race or the perfect race strategy.
- 36:29Like he's run, I think the last 12 months he'd run 3 marathons.
- 36:34I think he'd won all three of them and he hadn't run slower
- 36:38than like a two hour 3. So it's like this guy is like
- 36:40serious running pedigree. Just to mention, he's also gone
- 36:44back-to-back now to London. So he won last year, he's won
- 36:47this year. I just, I saw in my notes, I
- 36:50can't skip over I think a SEFA who won the women's race.
- 36:53She's run 8 marathons I think, including the Olympics and maybe
- 36:58world champs. She's never placed lower than
- 37:00second. Like that's that sick.
- 37:04It's good. To know for betting.
- 37:05Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like always put your money
- 37:08on there. That's an awesome stat stat.
- 37:10One of the things that I thought was really interesting for
- 37:12Sebastian's race was he effectively negative split the
- 37:16entire time, which is which is insane because the first, so I,
- 37:19I looked through briefly, they started and went out like a 248
- 37:23per kilometer. I'm not even sure what that is
- 37:26per mile. But then his, his average pace
- 37:29for the entire race was something like 2 minutes, 51 per
- 37:34kilometer. The high, the the slowest split
- 37:37came like 8 to 12 kilometers and was a 254 per kilometer.
- 37:45And then it dropped back down at the end.
- 37:47His I think his last two kilometers was sub 244 per
- 37:49kilometer per kilometre, which is just.
- 37:51Yeah, he drops. Yeah, crazy.
- 37:53Like a 412 mile or something to finish it, which is just like.
- 37:57So I think I think of the if if you did it into 5 kilometre
- 38:00blocks. Oh, he's at fourteens
- 38:02consistently. So he was at.
- 38:03Fourteens, fourteens, fourteens. And then I think the slowest one
- 38:06might have crept into the fifteens.
- 38:08Shocking. And then how embarrassing.
- 38:10But just just no. Zero rest.
- 38:13You just like actually looking at them sprinting down the road.
- 38:17But it's like. It's been a race.
- 38:19You do, you do look at it and you go, well, they don't look
- 38:22like they're sprinting because they like so from from like a
- 38:26televised perspective, obviously, and in your brain is
- 38:30like they can't possibly be sprinting because they're going
- 38:32for so long. But they ran past and in person,
- 38:36I'm so pleased that I was there and I saw them in person because
- 38:39it's like that moment where you're like, where were you?
- 38:41And I was like, I was actually there.
- 38:42And for all of the people who ran, you were a part of history.
- 38:45Like whether you did a 7 hour marathon or a 230 marathon or
- 38:48whatever, like you were part of that history, which is really
- 38:50cool things to be able to say. But like it is a blur and then
- 38:55they're gone and you're like, oh, I missed them.
- 38:57Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:58So I put a photo of this on my story of Soiree and Kiplimo.
- 39:01They're like running next to each other.
- 39:03I'm like 3 people. But I had to screenshot the
- 39:05video because they're just, I couldn't, I couldn't take a
- 39:07photo fast enough. There's just some ban they've
- 39:09gone through, but it's like it's the you can't comprehend it.
- 39:13And I've said this so many times before.
- 39:14I hear people just chatting away in the gym.
- 39:16We're talking about it in class and people like, I don't know
- 39:19how long I could hold that pace for.
- 39:21Like probably 50 meters. Like, oh, I'm like, no, no, no,
- 39:24no, you can't run that pace. So you can't even run that pace,
- 39:27let alone run it for. I saw a.
- 39:29Really. Funny thing, BBC Sport decided
- 39:31to go into a gym to talk about how quick that was.
- 39:33And they got a guy who was like, actually pretty well built.
- 39:37And they were like, how long can you run at the pace?
- 39:41And the whole premise was like, this guy might be able to do it
- 39:43for like 30 seconds. They never once showed the
- 39:45treadmill monitor because he is dying.
- 39:47And then afterwards, he's like, yeah, I don't think many people
- 39:50will be able to hold that kind of pace for that long.
- 39:52Like you didn't even show that you hit it because you didn't
- 39:54hit it. Like you didn't get there.
- 39:56I think some gym treadmills don't even go that far.
- 39:58No, it was on one of the assault runners, so you can see and
- 40:01they're self driven. But yeah, he did not hit that
- 40:04speed. I'm so sure because I could see
- 40:05how fast he was running. And the fact is they went up and
- 40:09cut and I was like, yeah, there's no light.
- 40:12What's really upsetting is, you know how you said, you know, it
- 40:14was a pleasure to be there and see it?
- 40:16What's quite depressing is I was on the Northern Line.
- 40:18Oh wait, that happened. For when the whole thing
- 40:20happened, I didn't see it in person.
- 40:23And this is, I'm using this as a Segway, by the way.
- 40:25It's not obvious. The reason was because I was at
- 40:28the CrossFit Coaches Congress. Oh, nice.
- 40:30The day before in Madrid, I didn't see any anything outside.
- 40:34It was a hotel next to the airport.
- 40:36I went between the two. However, I did meet Matt Fraser,
- 40:41which is crazy, and I felt really guilty because I know
- 40:44that that that's huge for you. I mean, it's huge for me.
- 40:47Like it was huge for you. What's really, really upsetting
- 40:50is I did actually have a pen and paper in my pocket to get him to
- 40:52write you a little message. But the opportunity.
- 40:54Just was not there and I didn't want to be like filming him
- 40:58being really professional and being like, do you mind writing
- 41:00it? Because also, and I'm sure,
- 41:02Matt, I know you're listening. I'm sure you won't mind me
- 41:06saying you looked rough and all you wanted to do was go to bed
- 41:10because they've been screwed over on one of the connecting
- 41:11flights. He slept on the airport floor.
- 41:13Oh nice. After spending a full day
- 41:16dealing with I think, I believe he's got twins.
- 41:18Yeah, yeah. That were fighting.
- 41:21Apparently they're at fighting age the way he describes.
- 41:23And so he, he looked tired. He was looking at an opportunity
- 41:28to get back. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:29I was supposed to. I believe I was supposed to see
- 41:31him later on in the day as well. And apparently he was just
- 41:34asleep. Yeah, yeah, it's fair enough.
- 41:36But I'm sure we will meet him again.
- 41:37Yeah. When he comes on the.
- 41:39Yeah, but he he a comes on the podcast or at the very least,
- 41:42and this is what I was actually going to do.
- 41:44I was asking, I was going to ask him if he could give me like
- 41:47just a quick voice recording of his peak performance training
- 41:50week. A week ago, Yeah, yeah.
- 41:53And discuss it. So I'll see if I can do that,
- 41:54because I do actually. Sure, there's like there's so
- 41:56much on on YouTube. He's he's like the glory days of
- 41:58CrossFit for. Me, yeah, yeah, so good.
- 42:01Anyway, that that was annoying and I'm using that as a segue to
- 42:04put us into Grind My Gears. Nice job this week.
- 42:06There's quite a lot of things. A lot of them are going to be
- 42:08marathon focused, so we sure find them, fly into them.
- 42:13Do you want to start us off? Yeah.
- 42:14So the controversial 1. I don't want to upset anyone
- 42:17and, and I don't think we said it, but like, congratulations if
- 42:19you did manage to finish. It's such an amazing day in
- 42:22London. But how many days post marathon?
- 42:26It's not really a grand my gear. It's more of a question.
- 42:28How many days post marathon is it acceptable to still be
- 42:31wearing your medal? I personally think 0 because but
- 42:36I I did see one. Thing but you taking it in your
- 42:38pocket with you and. There's a few people that I know
- 42:40the work of runner and they didn't.
- 42:42They didn't. Medal Monday.
- 42:44That's nice. And that's nice.
- 42:45I think office spaces, if that's like medal Monday, if you run
- 42:48the marathon ring in your medal, I think that's great.
- 42:52But I I just. But can you go round London and
- 42:56there's certain places that like offer you free food and you can
- 42:58get free stuff It's. Rare on the day after.
- 43:00I think it's becoming more common because it it looks
- 43:02great. Like you are but but can you get
- 43:05free tube as well? You get free tube on the day.
- 43:07OK, fine. And yeah, you just tap it.
- 43:12It comes to the card inside. Yeah, it's 4.
- 43:14Pounds reloaded, no. So yeah, you get that free, but
- 43:18then I think if you're wearing it after that day, that's a bit
- 43:21of sad. Do you know what?
- 43:23It's okay if you're just in your own home and no one else is
- 43:25there. If you want to do that to feel
- 43:27some sort of achievement, fine, But otherwise, just hold it, you
- 43:30know, hold it out. That's fine.
- 43:32I was going over Tower Bridge to get to work yesterday.
- 43:35I was cycling over and there were lots of people who'd
- 43:37obviously like travelled to London to race in the marathon.
- 43:40They were there holding their marathon, getting a photo of, of
- 43:43Tower Bridge in the background, which was quite nice and there
- 43:45were lots of people wearing them.
- 43:46But I think like getting towards it's like, how many days after
- 43:51New Year do you say happy New Year?
- 43:52It's the same kind of I think, like.
- 43:53Yeah, you know, it's so true. Two days probably acceptable you
- 43:56are. Quite annoying.
- 43:57Like I, I'm, I understand you're going to talk about the fact
- 44:00that you run the London Marathon for probably a week.
- 44:02It's going to be in your conversation.
- 44:03I don't need to see the medal though.
- 44:05I've seen it, yeah. I've seen it in that time.
- 44:07I'm just jealous. I didn't even think that this
- 44:09year's this year's medal was right.
- 44:10They were huge. Yeah.
- 44:12That's got to be the biggest marathon medal I've ever seen.
- 44:14It was pretty cool. It's nothing on.
- 44:15I think that was a Paris one like a year ago.
- 44:18Yeah, I think the 2024 Paris Marathon medal was really cool.
- 44:21I like that one. I think I maybe I'm hesitant to
- 44:25run a real marathon because I don't really want a shit medal.
- 44:27Oh true, that would really ruin your day, wouldn't it?
- 44:29Grind my great. It would grind out of my gears
- 44:32if I ran a marathon and the medal was horrible, I think.
- 44:36Yeah. Talking of which, actually one
- 44:38of my grandma Gears of Sieg. So where I was positioned was
- 44:41just off to Tower Bridge doing some filming stuff, which was
- 44:44about the half marathon point. The number of people I saw get
- 44:48to that point wave at the the Marshall and just be like, yeah,
- 44:52I'm, I'm done. And they were like, oh, like,
- 44:55you're OK, you're injured because there's ambulance crews
- 44:57everywhere. And there were a few people
- 44:58stopping and getting injured and getting wheeled off the course.
- 45:00God bless them. But some people, like, I only
- 45:03fancy doing half. It's incredible running across
- 45:05Tower Bridge. But I'm, I'm done and then
- 45:07happy. And I was like, do you know how
- 45:09many people want to run this thing?
- 45:11Yeah. And you're just like, I'm happy
- 45:13with that. I've done my half marathon.
- 45:14Oh my gosh, no. So annoyed.
- 45:17I've never applied to the under marathon, but I'm annoyed that
- 45:19you've done that because I would rather run it than you.
- 45:22That's so bad. And I know how much that would
- 45:24annoy you. So annoy.
- 45:25Have you done your application? I have already done that.
- 45:28I need to so my next cry. My gear is also marathon
- 45:31related, and it's also so from a listener who sent in.
- 45:34So let me let me read their messages.
- 45:38I'll keep them anonymous. They've they've set the tone.
- 45:42It's so good. So picture this all right on my
- 45:47lunch break, enjoying the dulcet tones of the mindsets podcast.
- 45:52What do I see? Question mark.
- 45:54So this is this must be two days before the marathon.
- 45:57So you can, you could have already gone to the Expo to
- 46:00collect your numbers, etcetera, etcetera.
- 46:02What do I see? Someone already wearing their
- 46:04London 26 marathon tee. So when you go and collect your
- 46:09stuff, you get a T-shirt as well.
- 46:10So they haven't even run the marathon yet.
- 46:11They're wearing the T-shirt. So Keane having picked up my
- 46:16T-shirt yesterday in brackets obviously to never wear just for
- 46:20the hell there it says finish it on a so surely you can't go
- 46:25around plastering that on pre event?
- 46:28All right. Not everyone is going to get
- 46:30through the 42 KS so how is it somebody saying finisher?
- 46:35Surely that's a yellow card offence simply cannot.
- 46:38That's bad. Judy, I think that was a red.
- 46:41That's. A red, that should be a test.
- 46:44Yeah, if, if. That's so bad, isn't?
- 46:46It your chip should be in the race and if you and if you wear
- 46:51it beforehand. You're not allowed to start.
- 46:52No, that's it. Yeah, it won't work.
- 46:54You're done. Yeah.
- 46:55I thought that was so good. That's.
- 46:57So awful. You can't be doing that, no.
- 46:59No, we have a thing for race finisher shirts anyway, but just
- 47:03that, that's well. Kind of another reoccurring
- 47:06growing my gear, which I've had multiple people send to me this
- 47:09week, was the number of people that ran like a sub 4 hour
- 47:12marathon wearing carbons. And you know what like this is
- 47:16there's a slight misconception. Carbon plated shoes have an
- 47:19efficiency improvement of up to 5%, but it's so dependent on the
- 47:22speed you're running at. Because I think for a lot of, I
- 47:26mean, I don't know if it was George that mentioned this on
- 47:28Roscoe's podcast, but I one someone I spoke to you as a
- 47:31pretty good runner said, I don't know why people that are running
- 47:34above 4 minute kilometers. Yeah, it's the four minute mark.
- 47:37Yeah. So if you're not running that,
- 47:39you're probably doing more damage by running carbons,
- 47:42especially over a race. I think it's also like this
- 47:44perception of I'm running a race, so I need to get race
- 47:46shoes and I'm like, you probably don't, but have you seen so the
- 47:49the new Adidas shoes that we kind of glossed over that both
- 47:53the the fastest guys wore on Sunday, the new technology.
- 47:58So they go on sale, I think on Thursday.
- 48:01How much they cost? Have you seen that?
- 48:04No, $500.00. So it's like £450.
- 48:08So the new technology, the new technology in it, I think it's
- 48:11called an energy rim. So it's not a carbon plate.
- 48:14It's like a rim that hugs the edge of the shoe.
- 48:16And then there's I think like a plate in the heel, which is
- 48:19obviously like created the most fast shoe ever and has the most
- 48:24return. Well, the other thing that's
- 48:26interesting, I think it's the first marathon shoe that's under
- 48:28100 grams. It's so light, it's incredible.
- 48:31I mean, it socks the way more than that to be honest.
- 48:34It's actually mental, but then it's like it must be close to A1
- 48:38wear shoe. Yeah like it's decent.
- 48:41I I I can't remember who posted a photo of them post race.
- 48:44It was someone fast like one of the elites and like they have
- 48:48basically like the rubber at the back of the sole as grip, which
- 48:52is basically like an F1 tire. I'd assume it's like got nothing
- 48:55on it, but it was already peeling off and I was like
- 48:57you've you've only run 42K so you're spending I I'd like.
- 49:00So this would be a grind my gear for anyone who's not an elite
- 49:04level marathon runner or even southerly wearing or buying
- 49:08those shoes. Yeah, it's just like now.
- 49:10Please, please do not buy those shoes unless you can run like a
- 49:142. 50 Think of the planet as well.
- 49:16Yeah, what always. What always.
- 49:18What else have we got here? Oh, you've got one about the
- 49:22tube strike. So again, I'm going to have to
- 49:24read this out because the message was so good.
- 49:27So obviously in London we've had some Tube strikes going on the
- 49:30last week. I got this message at 6:50 after
- 49:36a commute on Thursday morning. Grind my gears for you dot dot
- 49:40dot. So if you would like to send in
- 49:41your Grind my gears or on Instagram, you can send me a
- 49:44personal message if you'd like to wherever you want to go.
- 49:47So the people that think a tube strike is the perfect time to
- 49:51learn how to ride a bike for the first time dot dot dot dot dot
- 49:54next message after carnage on in central London roads yesterday.
- 49:590 bike control or awareness for other cyclists.
- 50:01What the hell FFS? So valid, so valid.
- 50:06And you know what I actually do love?
- 50:07I, I think E bikes are incredible, absolutely
- 50:13incredible. But my God, did the rules
- 50:16seemingly just not apply to anyone.
- 50:17And I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I'm like the
- 50:19perfect person because if I'm a light and I'm in a rush and I
- 50:24can see nothing's happened, but it is safe where there is a way
- 50:26for me to do it. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:28Then I'll be cautious. But like, what I am not doing is
- 50:30what I have seen people doing in the last week, which is just
- 50:32like jumping curbs, like using pedestrian lights to cross
- 50:38quickly, but then like also go the wrong way up the side of a
- 50:41road just because it's empty. And like forcing cars that are
- 50:44going the correct way to like stop because this person is
- 50:47clearly more important on their their line bike.
- 50:50It is just insane. And then, yeah, I'm going to
- 50:55leave it there because I just continue going off on people
- 50:57that don't know how to ride a bike.
- 50:59And it's it's wild. Oh also the people that clearly
- 51:02didn't do their cycling proficiency because they don't
- 51:04indicate, they just turn. I've I've adopted some bad
- 51:09habits from my Rd. cycling where you like learn how to signal in
- 51:12a group and and when you corner, it's like a very subtle, like
- 51:16little point. I do have some rather than like
- 51:18the the I'm sticking my armor and not doing that.
- 51:21That's a great. It's quite.
- 51:22Horrible. Yeah.
- 51:24Little point, yeah. But no, yeah, literally not
- 51:27doing anything. But I've been, I've been cycling
- 51:29with people that are like turning left, but they're in the
- 51:31middle of the bar and though and I'm on the left side of the road
- 51:34like you should be. Yeah.
- 51:37That's horrible. The the we've got another one
- 51:40that's been written in which is totally unrelated, but is cars
- 51:43without physical keys are the ones that have fogs, which is
- 51:46like the car knows. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:49I also agree with this person but they just don't make sense
- 51:51because sometimes cars just don't recognize them weirdly
- 51:54when it's cold. But also you just kind of
- 51:58trusting that you do have your keys don't actually know where
- 52:01it is. And then it's like where do you
- 52:02put it when you get in the car? There's no like you don't have
- 52:04to like insert to start. You just like leave it in the
- 52:08sense console. And if if someone has taken my
- 52:10bag and just like I know. Goes close to the car to the.
- 52:14Car and like try and open it but they could.
- 52:16Do you know the thing? Like whenever I lock the car, I
- 52:18like to just check that it's locked.
- 52:20Yeah, but you lock the car and then you go close again.
- 52:23And as you go to open the door, it opens again and you're like,
- 52:27so I need to lock it, walk away with the key and then ask
- 52:30someone to check if it's if it's if it's locked or not.
- 52:33I love that. That's yeah.
- 52:35No, they're too clever. Really, really annoying.
- 52:37You've got. Another one, yeah.
- 52:38So my 1. I don't know how many times I've
- 52:41said this. I haven't said it in a while
- 52:42though, but fitness influencers giving unsolicited advice.
- 52:46You can be a fitness influencer, whatever.
- 52:48Is that not the job of a fitness influencer?
- 52:50Oh, sorry, yeah, no. Yeah.
- 52:52Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah, continue to do that.
- 52:56But it's, it's specifically when they're giving advice around
- 52:59nutrition. And I've seen so many different
- 53:03accounts giving like, it's not even close to right.
- 53:06It's just like so incorrect what they're suggesting as a carb
- 53:10load for the marathon. So over the last week, I've just
- 53:13been peppered by and as soon as I click on one, like look
- 53:16through the account, it's just like countless like you need to
- 53:18do this, you need to do this, you need to do this.
- 53:20I'm like 1, you have no qualification to your pretty
- 53:23average runner. And three, it's just wrong.
- 53:27Yeah. So it's like if I was an actual
- 53:29registered nutritionist, I would be all over it, but I'm not so.
- 53:34Although if you are listening as a registered nutritionist, I'll
- 53:37set your game for you. Yeah, I'll send you some
- 53:39accounts and the grind my gift for me this week.
- 53:43I've mentioned this before, actually in previous events,
- 53:46shooting at a London Marathon was the worst thing I've ever
- 53:48done. I had a tough time at the T100
- 53:50last year and I'm telling you about that.
- 53:54Worse. Was there a marathon?
- 53:55Just like like you said, I don't know what was going on this
- 53:58year. It was so much busy, so busy.
- 54:00And I in hindsight, probably picked some of the worst points
- 54:05in my experience. What I will try and do when I'm
- 54:07at an event is find when most people will go and then go the
- 54:09other way and then just take advantage of the fact that the
- 54:12content looks better. Even though I'm not the most
- 54:14famous spot. I went to the Tower Bridge half
- 54:17marathon point, which is also mile 22 on the way back, which
- 54:20remember it was so busy. Despite that, I'm actually make
- 54:24friends with people that are front, which is a normal
- 54:25technique. And when the person's coming
- 54:27along, I'm expecting them to, I just lean over the barrier,
- 54:29which worked OK. But when timing chips don't work
- 54:35properly, it is awful. So multiple times the timing
- 54:40chips were delayed for the people that I was expecting to
- 54:42come past, which meant that when they did come past, they were
- 54:45passed when I saw them and their timing chip was half a mile down
- 54:49the road. So to counter that, did the
- 54:51smart thing. I know a lot of people do this,
- 54:53shared their location with their phone with how busy it is.
- 54:57And someone actually said this perfectly in London.
- 54:59In London, I overheard this. How are we conceivably supposed
- 55:03to have been to the moon, but when it's busy in a location,
- 55:06nobody's phone works. And I was thinking in time like,
- 55:10wow, OK, conspiracy theorist. Also quite valid because what
- 55:15happened? And I ended up missing someone's
- 55:17finish, which was really, really gutting because I had been there
- 55:20for 15 minutes waiting. I was getting stuff set up.
- 55:22I was not just stood there like on my phone or anything.
- 55:25I was genuinely looking for a better angle because believe it
- 55:29or not, the finish is quite busy place.
- 55:30So I'm in the grandstands at this point because they open up
- 55:33and I was working way, way through.
- 55:34I saw a family ahead of me was watching their daughter go past
- 55:37and then as soon as they were out, I was in.
- 55:39I was like, cool, I'm at the front.
- 55:40I've got the whole view of the whole now.
- 55:45They're half a mile down the road on Find My iPhone.
- 55:48They're half an hour down the road on the chip.
- 55:50Somewhat misleading. Whatever.
- 55:51Look up at the screen there across the line.
- 55:54You'll be gutted. So gutted, but also like I'm,
- 55:56I'm gutted because like I'm trying to do my job.
- 55:59I cannot imagine how upsetting that would be if you were trying
- 56:02to support your daughter. Yeah, and you'd miss them.
- 56:04Yeah, yeah, yeah. That would be so, so sad.
- 56:06Like you've been ripped at that moment.
- 56:08And I don't think the thing that I'm thinking is like, what am I
- 56:11actually upset about? Am I upset that chips shouldn't
- 56:14be used whatsoever? No.
- 56:15Because Can you imagine trying to attract someone in a time
- 56:18where there were no chips at the impossible?
- 56:20You'd just be hoping. And if they got injured or
- 56:22stopped or something like that, you just have no idea.
- 56:25But I just wish it was more reliable.
- 56:27Well, there was just a better way.
- 56:28You'd imagine it would be more reliable, but I think so.
- 56:32The London Marathon, just on this point, I think it was, I
- 56:36saw somewhere where it was like 66,000 people started.
- 56:40Yeah, but that seems a lot because it broke the record for
- 56:45finishers. It's like a Guinness World
- 56:46Record for the amount of finishers.
- 56:48I think it took that off the New York Marathon recently, which
- 56:51was like 59,000. Does that mean that that amount
- 56:55of people didn't finish it Or it's like that's a number of
- 56:58that's how many people they're expecting to start.
- 57:00Some of them didn't start, some of them didn't finish.
- 57:03Maybe as a percentage that seems right, but it seems like a big
- 57:06number of people who don't finish.
- 57:08But I mean, again, it's like it's just goes to show how
- 57:10difficult the marathon distance is.
- 57:12I will also say as well, like just being about and around the
- 57:14marathon, I saw a lot of people that weren't finishing and I had
- 57:17to pull out from injury and also and all the people that decided
- 57:19half marathon was. But going back to the spectating
- 57:22point, like it is, you know, you see the elites go through, then
- 57:25the sub elites go through and then it's like slowly, slowly,
- 57:29slowly more and more people. And then it's like, OK, we're
- 57:31getting close to the three hour finishes, the 3:30, the four.
- 57:34And it's like, OK, I can't see anyone.
- 57:37Like how can I even if I'm tracking them, I might not even
- 57:40see them. I had load of people on Find My
- 57:41iPhone and they're like coming up the road and you're like
- 57:44stressing, you're like, am I going to see them?
- 57:46So if I did miss you, I'm sorry. Well, talking of things to miss,
- 57:51if you aren't watching on YouTube right now, you won't
- 57:54have seen that we've got something over our shoulders.
- 57:56So this week we have been in the presence of new pairs of high
- 58:04sock script socks, which originally for hybrid racing.
- 58:07It is their original intention, but I do actually know a lot of
- 58:09people that have started resorting to these in their
- 58:11races for running just because they're looking for any sort of
- 58:15extra edge that can get them feeling more attached to their
- 58:18shoe. I've been there where I've been
- 58:20running a race which I tied up really, really well with lace
- 58:22lock and for some reason that hasn't really worked and one
- 58:24shoe now feels less comfortable than the other and I end up
- 58:27coming away with blisters or something like that.
- 58:29That doesn't happen when you are more stuck to your shoe.
- 58:32You can obviously then imagine that if you are in a race where
- 58:35you have to pull a sled, push a sled, having your shoe stay
- 58:39firmly in there is is always beneficial.
- 58:42You racing them you like? Them really, really big fan,
- 58:44yeah. So if you are wanting to check
- 58:46them out, you can buy them in packs of 1.
- 58:48So by all means do so. You can save yourself 15% using
- 58:51code mindset 15 that's at highsocks.com or high style
- 58:55clothing. You can also save yourself some
- 58:57podium chaser wear if you are also chasing podiums.
- 59:02So thank you very much for the support.
- 59:03High socks. I'm going to put that back up
- 59:05there. Why?
- 59:07It's our favorite colour because we were stupidly, well, white
- 59:10trainers a lot of the time. Now we're going to move on to
- 59:13the game, which this week is higher or lower.
- 59:16Reason I've come back to higher or lower is I feel like the
- 59:18first time I ever did a higher or lower game with you.
- 59:20I mentioned marathon numbers. Oh, really?
- 59:24So I thought I'd bring that back.
- 59:24I remember so vividly when we played higher or lower because I
- 59:27think it was in Birmingham. It.
- 59:30Might not be that. No, I think we did it last year.
- 59:32Oh, really? But yeah, you definitely.
- 59:34That wasn't in it, that one. Sticks in my mind.
- 59:36I was like God to get this over with.
- 59:38OK, I want you to give me a random number between 0 and 1000
- 59:43to start us off. OK, 750.
- 59:47OK, 750 in which case I want to know if it's higher or lower to
- 59:53have a ticket for the Iron Man. Bolton 70.3 so half Iron Man.
- 1:00:00Yeah, 1/2, OK, the price for it. The price for.
- 1:00:04It it's not going to be much lower, but it's lower.
- 1:00:06OK, supposedly according to the Internet, £452.05.
- 1:00:11So it is lower, correct? OK, Up next, we've got.
- 1:00:14I know well. How many times in Ayrton Senna's
- 1:00:18career did he have the fastest lap and it needs to be higher or
- 1:00:24lower than 452? Knowing how many times Lewis
- 1:00:32Hamilton has won a Grand Prix, that number's lower, so I'm just
- 1:00:36I'm guessing. Just fastest lap though.
- 1:00:39But then I'm like, he can't have raced that many more grand
- 1:00:41prixs. I'm going to say, is that yeah,
- 1:00:44lower. OK, it's actually surprisingly
- 1:00:47only 19. Yeah, OK.
- 1:00:49For his whole career. Now for the London Marathon,
- 1:00:53yeah, how the the youngest you can be to race is 18 years old.
- 1:00:59How many 18 or 19 year olds raced in total?
- 1:01:03Is it higher or lower than 19? Higher.
- 1:01:06OK. And you would you want to take a
- 1:01:08guess and lower OK 650? Four.
- 1:01:11OK, that's good. That's good.
- 1:01:14Now again, topical. LeBron James average points per
- 1:01:18season OK across his whole 22 year career.
- 1:01:22Is it higher or lower than 654 points?
- 1:01:25That's a really good question. This this includes postseason as
- 1:01:30well. OK.
- 1:01:32I mean, you play a lot of games per season and as a good
- 1:01:38basketball player you can score a lot of points per game.
- 1:01:42Or did I say how about 600 and? 654.
- 1:01:47I think I'm going to trust my gut.
- 1:01:49I'm going to say higher. OK, his points average for GO
- 1:01:54status, 1888.7 points per season throughout his career.
- 1:02:00That's crazy. Including injured seasons, yeah.
- 1:02:02We need to do like a side by side of Michael Jordan.
- 1:02:06If the people want it, put it in the.
- 1:02:07Comment. Message us on socialist we will
- 1:02:10we will do the goat debate and finalize it as to non American
- 1:02:14non basketball players. You're tall, but yeah, you've
- 1:02:17got cyber ability. I don't even have that.
- 1:02:20I've got nothing. Right in the Six Nations, we've
- 1:02:25been seeing some record tendencies.
- 1:02:27We've also been seeing some pretty low attendances for the
- 1:02:29women's game. However, the Italian women's
- 1:02:32stadium is called the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi Palmer.
- 1:02:38Do you think the maximum attendance capacity is higher or
- 1:02:41lower than 1888.7? If it's lower than it is in
- 1:02:50embarrassment to like the the sport of women's rugby, I think
- 1:02:56it's just like, of course it should be much bigger.
- 1:03:00But knowing like amateur grassroots level rugby, which
- 1:03:03this isn't, but knowing that like some of the pitches that
- 1:03:08clubs in the UK are playing on for women's rugby don't even
- 1:03:11have a stand, I'm I'm going to say higher.
- 1:03:14OK, you're right. It's 5000, which is still so
- 1:03:18low. The stadium actually does look
- 1:03:19kind of cool, but it's tiny. OK.
- 1:03:22So from there we've got what was Alex Ronchwicz winning earnings
- 1:03:28from Warsaw. Is this so?
- 1:03:32This is just like that's on. Big checks and he raced.
- 1:03:36You're not going to give me this.
- 1:03:38He raced double s and solos and he won both.
- 1:03:45Yeah, he he made OK, but then he split the double S potentially.
- 1:03:49We assume he split with 10. We're going pre tax as well
- 1:03:53because we do have to pay tax on their.
- 1:03:54Own and the stadium size was 5000 something it was for sure
- 1:03:58he he made more. OK, couldn't you work out how
- 1:04:01much he made? I'm going to say close to like
- 1:04:0715 to 18K. Pre tax $20,000 OK so he he got
- 1:04:13so he split the 10 with 10 Yeah but you win 15 if you win the
- 1:04:17Minnesota. OK.
- 1:04:17I thought it was like closer to 12, but OK, cool.
- 1:04:20I'm pleased with that as a guess.
- 1:04:21Yeah. So 20,000 was his earnings OK?
- 1:04:24That's decent. How many people finished the
- 1:04:30London Marathon? Is it higher or lower than
- 1:04:3320,000? Higher.
- 1:04:35You've got the number in your head.
- 1:04:36It's. Yeah.
- 1:04:37What is it? I'm going to say it's like close
- 1:04:39to 59. Is it 59,000?
- 1:04:41OK, hold on. I'm good today.
- 1:04:43It can't be to the to the. Eight O 4 or something.
- 1:04:48How many people finished across both London hierarchies?
- 1:04:56OK, so December in Excel and then London in Olympia which?
- 1:05:01Was an 8 day event. I mean, it's, it's definitely
- 1:05:04higher because I know that in London I think it was close to
- 1:05:08like I remember looking because I was interested to know if it
- 1:05:11was how many people were competing versus how many people
- 1:05:15run the marathon. And I think it was quite close
- 1:05:17in just the excel somewhere sat around like 40 to 50K people.
- 1:05:23So even if 20,000 or 30,000 people, let's say that's quite a
- 1:05:30lot for Olympia. I'm I'm sure it's more.
- 1:05:32I'm sure it's more. Got them, got them.
- 1:05:34You got got as did I by the marketing side of things.
- 1:05:39So London XL had 44,000 participants which included
- 1:05:43judges. Are never volunteers.
- 1:05:46Never. Finishes there was only 21,823
- 1:05:51and in London Olympia only 6000 which is low and that.
- 1:05:57Yeah, that does seem like. That seems lower than I
- 1:05:59expected. Is that with the the that's?
- 1:06:00According to the Internet. OK.
- 1:06:03Was that including the European EMMAAE?
- 1:06:07MEAS Well I I I'm not 100% sure, but even if it wasn't then I
- 1:06:11that would only add a couple thousand.
- 1:06:13It's not going to be higher than the 59,000 runners we had at
- 1:06:16London Marathon, I'm afraid. At least my thought process was
- 1:06:19logical true. OK.
- 1:06:21So we're going, we're going, we're going to use 6000 and
- 1:06:23we're going to use 21,823, so 27,823.
- 1:06:27OK, shame higher or lower Patrick Mahomes daily earnings.
- 1:06:32Higher. I'm not even going to do that.
- 1:06:34I'm not even going to do that. So his daily earnings yeah,
- 1:06:38offseason or not yeah, 137,000 dollars 800 and well, 808.
- 1:06:44Dollars. Yeah, yeah, crazy.
- 1:06:46But also like, so that's basically a 6th of what?
- 1:06:50Wait, what did we work out? Cristiano Ronaldo's?
- 1:06:53Yes. We Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:54I don't even know, but like crazy money.
- 1:06:57So, OK, the last one higher or lower than 137,808, the average
- 1:07:09number of views on a mindset's reel this year?
- 1:07:14That's a great question. I'm because we've had some big
- 1:07:20ones. We've had like a 2,000,000 plus.
- 1:07:26Then we've had my latest one boom in at 450K, the Keely.
- 1:07:33Bigger Pooler, by the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:34She's yeah. So Keely for her one, Yeah.
- 1:07:38But then like I'd say on average, we're getting like, oh,
- 1:07:43I don't know, 137, I think probably, I think it's lower,
- 1:07:55but the face you pulled. No, Average views on our Rails
- 1:07:58this year is 240,000. I should have backed it.
- 1:08:03Yeah, we've been doing really well.
- 1:08:05That's really good. However, that's really good.
- 1:08:07People lovely listeners that are involved, the likes don't
- 1:08:11convert the same. So while we have views and we
- 1:08:13have likes, we are very appreciative because we weren't
- 1:08:16generating this sort of traction a year ago.
- 1:08:18However, if you are listening to this, you're not following on
- 1:08:21Spotify, you're not subscribed on YouTube, or you're not even
- 1:08:24following on the social media before we get even into liking
- 1:08:27and commenting or sending us messages, please genuinely do so
- 1:08:31because those views sound great and you might be sat there like,
- 1:08:35wow, those guys are doing so well.
- 1:08:37Neither of our bank accounts look any different.
- 1:08:40And without changing your bank account because it's literally
- 1:08:43free. Go to all of those platforms,
- 1:08:45please, especially if you're on one right now, just unlock your
- 1:08:48phone, whatever it is you're listening on, watching on, and
- 1:08:51just hit like and subscribe or follow if you're on Spotify.
- 1:08:54And if you can go over to the socials at any point, please do
- 1:08:57hit follow and get involved with some of the posts that we're
- 1:09:00posting. Feel free to go and stir the pot
- 1:09:03in some of the comments because the Paula Radcliffe reel and the
- 1:09:06Lewis Hamilton one we've done, some of the comments have been
- 1:09:09outrageous. We also will need to say we
- 1:09:13might have ended someone's career, which is really sad if
- 1:09:15you think about it like that. But someone decided to comment
- 1:09:17from their gym business account just saying stupidly silly
- 1:09:21things about Paula Radcliffe and as a result have needed to
- 1:09:24delete their own account. So that's funny.
- 1:09:27You could have witnessed that whole thing if you're in our
- 1:09:28comment section. So please get there and send us
- 1:09:32any grime ideas you have as well.
- 1:09:34We have been low. We fortunately had a lot from
- 1:09:36the marathon of our own experience.
- 1:09:38But coming into the summer, we're expecting lots of things
- 1:09:41to be upsetting everybody and we need to discuss them.
- 1:09:42We need to let you guys vent. So that is the plea of the
- 1:09:48episode, I would say. Yeah, easy.
- 1:09:50Anything else from you for? I don't think so, no.
- 1:09:53That's got to be my best quiz performance.
- 1:09:54I'm Yeah, that was pretty good. It's.
- 1:09:56A shame at the end, yeah, you got done.
- 1:09:58It's like the one where you chose yourself, your injury
- 1:09:59probability. I was trying to be humble.
- 1:10:04OK, well with that, without further ado, it was a pleasure
- 1:10:07having you all join us again for another week and we look forward
- 1:10:09to seeing you in the next episode.
