- 0:16Welcome to the Barbell Spin 7:30 Wednesday nights we are.
- 0:22Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Well, I guess I have to be in
- 0:25spin spot. You do, but you're blurry is
- 0:28all. Get out.
- 0:28Man. Your screen is bad.
- 0:31You're like going delay delay. No, I.
- 0:34Can't. I can't see you at all.
- 0:37This can't happen. Why don't you, why don't you go
- 0:39out and come back in? Because you have to be OK on,
- 0:42you have to be good because you're running the show, all
- 0:46right? And we're not going to talk
- 0:48about 15 different systems because John is here.
- 0:51I know. I told him.
- 0:52I was like, don't let me go down.
- 0:54Don't let me go down any rabbit hole.
- 0:56We talk about the competitions. Yeah, we're just talking.
- 0:59About a hard time guys. So Spin.
- 1:03Spin had an emergency. Everything is fine but he needed
- 1:06to handle it so he won't be here today.
- 1:11So we invited, he invited Mr. Wood here.
- 1:14We'll come figure out what we want to call him when Tyler gets
- 1:16back. But he's going to be our guest
- 1:19for the show. We're going to try not to keep
- 1:20you as long as we normally do. But yeah, we're going to talk
- 1:24legends and filled with a lot of semi finals level people.
- 1:29John probably knows these people better than I do, so we we
- 1:32thought he would be a good a good guess to have better,
- 1:36worse. Yeah, honestly, I'm probably
- 1:38going to. Last time I did this, I did this
- 1:40with CJ on WAD prep. Yeah, you look good.
- 1:42I did this with CJ on WAD prep and it was about like the Rogue
- 1:44Invitational and honestly like dude, I'm going to say some
- 1:47stupid things about like what's on the plan.
- 1:50These are the people you go against, you know what I'm
- 1:52saying? Like top, top of the top.
- 1:53I'm not going to. I'm going to say I know more
- 1:55than everybody. But like semi finals people, you
- 1:58know, you can catch me slacking. That's all I'm saying.
- 1:59Mostly Europeans, though, not Americans.
- 2:03Yeah, not, not my, I don't know. I'm, I'm going to say some
- 2:06things that I'll regret about the competition, but that's OK.
- 2:08I'm OK. It looks a little stupid.
- 2:11You're good. Most people don't have the balls
- 2:12to talk about anything so. Did you welcome John to the
- 2:15show? Wood did.
- 2:16You. Yeah, no, I explained the
- 2:17situation now guys we don't know what to call him because I'm
- 2:21John. We don't want 2 Johns and I
- 2:24don't want to just say wood 37 times so.
- 2:29I'm cool with you guys. I'm cool with wood.
- 2:31I'd be cool with wood too. Whatever you guys.
- 2:34So go ahead, put out what we should call Mr. Wood and we're
- 2:40going to call him that for the rest of.
- 2:41The show, Mr. Wood, I like that it's distinguished.
- 2:44Makes me think of that movie. Did you ever watch Mr. Woodcock?
- 2:47No, no, dude. It's an it's so funny, dude.
- 2:53It's it's hilarious. You should, you should.
- 2:55It's Sean Williams, Scott, all right.
- 2:58His mom marries his PE teacher that used to bully him.
- 3:01It's it's an amazing movie. How do I see?
- 3:06Comments. I can't see comments in my.
- 3:08Face. Aren't you on your phone?
- 3:09That's fine. Oh.
- 3:10Yes, you can do these comments. That's good.
- 3:12We're good. We'll pull them.
- 3:13I'll pull up the good ones. All right, Don.
- 3:15Yeah, pull up the good. Ones we need to start it off
- 3:17good. Let's go back to our most recent
- 3:22show. We won't do the I.
- 3:23Can't hear him? You can't hear me.
- 3:27I got you. Yeah, I hear you.
- 3:28Fine. Tyler.
- 3:31This might be a you problem. God Dang it.
- 3:35I hear you fine. Tyler, OK.
- 3:36All right, I'm going to. I'm going.
- 3:38To read John, go back out and go back in.
- 3:40When we while he. Figures that out.
- 3:42We're going to read some comments from last week from at
- 3:47Cody Huber 55. After watching the the game, I
- 3:52can truly determine John is thoroughly on the spectrum.
- 3:57Impressive nonetheless. Well.
- 3:59Thank you. I yeah, I agree.
- 4:04You made that. We had to talk about it after
- 4:07the show. You made that look way too easy.
- 4:10I hope we do it again. I hope it's a a thing that we
- 4:13can do. I want spin to make it
- 4:15difficult. You know what I'm saying?
- 4:16Because this isn't like there are only so many countries in
- 4:19the world like I want. I want him to make it make it
- 4:24difficult. You know what I'm saying?
- 4:25Yeah. Do you have?
- 4:27Do you have now, John? We're good now.
- 4:30Cool. Sweet.
- 4:31We're going to rock with Mr. Wood.
- 4:32I like that The wooden Meister. I like Mr. Wood, though.
- 4:40Go ahead, Tyler. Joe and Bob are the issue with
- 4:43legends. Always has been.
- 4:45Need to find someone else to run things before deciding if it's a
- 4:49failure. I agree that they are the issue
- 4:56at Legends, but we can get into that later.
- 5:01Yeah, good. That's good.
- 5:02Any thoughts on that would Mr. Wood?
- 5:05Dude, I I I no, no, nothing. I can't say anything good about
- 5:10that. This is a this is a safe space,
- 5:14man. OK, we we like to say negative
- 5:16just as much as positive feel. Like we're probably I will
- 5:19happily say something negative. I just, I just can't.
- 5:22When the time's right. Kathy Stan 3 or 4379.
- 5:27There is no way in a million years Jay superimposed a clock
- 5:31on his video. He's calling into question his
- 5:34integrity and it's disgraceful that he hasn't offered up an
- 5:39apology. Dave will never apologize for
- 5:44anything. I don't think that's true.
- 5:47You're right, he apologized with the whole Lazar thing.
- 5:51That's what it takes. I don't think he's to blame for
- 5:54that, but but he did apologize for that.
- 5:59I don't think somebody dying, I don't think he's ever going to
- 6:03apologize for something. No, he's not.
- 6:06He's not. I mean, we from what we know is
- 6:09that it didn't happen and we're just going off of what we're
- 6:12just going off of Dave's word and H QS word, right, right.
- 6:16And. And he's going off of somebody
- 6:17else's word because he didn't see it, I'd guess.
- 6:20This is just a giant, Yeah. We don't know.
- 6:22We don't know. I was honestly starting to lean
- 6:26into believing them. And then when he went on Sevons
- 6:28and he said I haven't seen the videos, I was like, OK, like we
- 6:34we have no idea. Like we can't confirm.
- 6:36And I'm sure he trusts his team. But like at the same time, like
- 6:39there's no way I'm saying that out loud.
- 6:43Anyway, leave your comments. The comments were a bit like
- 6:47this week, but I think a lot of them went because of mayhem
- 6:51dispersed through that so. Yeah, I mean, it was on
- 6:54Saturday. It was a Saturday show.
- 6:56No, we you could have read last Wednesday.
- 6:57Show I did read last Wednesday show, but I think they they
- 7:00didn't accrue the way they usually do.
- 7:03So leave your comments. We can't be getting dry down
- 7:05there. Say something about Mr. Wood,
- 7:08good or bad. Oh, I got I, I got a lot of
- 7:11fuel. People should have a lot of
- 7:12comments coming up. They do in my comment section
- 7:16and in my DMS. You like to say but that's that's I think people
- 7:21are sending them your way. I don't know if you'll have you
- 7:24have any like just unbiased. This is their opinion on you.
- 7:29No, I got people calling me stupid and no, no.
- 7:33Like, no, I'm saying I think those people are being sent to
- 7:36you. Oh, maybe.
- 7:38You see what I'm saying? I don't think.
- 7:41I don't think you have people that just stumbled on what you
- 7:43said and then have an opinion in your comments.
- 7:46That's what I'm saying that that's what I'm saying you.
- 7:49Win. Good and bad, good and bad.
- 7:52I'm not even like, just like I'm not talking about anything
- 7:54specifically, but I think, you know, some channels are for you
- 7:57and some are against you and I think everybody's just being
- 7:59sent your way. It's all right, It's all right.
- 8:02You went. From zero to really kind of
- 8:05provocative content in a real quick timeline.
- 8:08Maybe you start up if you ask me.
- 8:10Yeah, Have you just been sitting on this for years?
- 8:13How? How long?
- 8:15How long have you? Been around?
- 8:17I've been doing cross. I've been when I started
- 8:19crossing, my goal was to make the games and that was in 2015.
- 8:23And I've been I've been sitting on dude, the juiciest stuff has
- 8:26not come out yet. Just dude, it's common.
- 8:30The juiciest. Oh yeah, dude, it's common.
- 8:34Hasn't been set on Hiller. It's common.
- 8:37And I dude, I've been sitting on this stuff for and what and what
- 8:40a while eat. More carbs.
- 8:43Bro why Like what topics or why I've been sitting on it.
- 8:48Why? What topics?
- 8:51Don't, don't, don't hit it on the head.
- 8:54I mean, it's just, it's, it's the, what's what I, the video I
- 8:57posted today is what's the mission of CrossFit?
- 8:59I have people arguing with me on the mission of CrossFit is, and
- 9:02it's just like, and there's no clear answer.
- 9:03It's like, OK, what, what are we doing?
- 9:05What, what is, what is this whole system?
- 9:08And no one can like say it clearly.
- 9:09And then I provide something and people are like, no, you're
- 9:11wrong. And it's just like, OK, then
- 9:13what are we doing? What is this?
- 9:15You're fine. You're like, you're not even,
- 9:17you're OK with being wrong. You just want to hear it at this
- 9:20point. And I have been wrong.
- 9:22Like my my description for the representation of the phosphogen
- 9:26system not being tested was was grossly inaccurate.
- 9:31Mr. Mr. Mr. Wood, you got you have 3 phosphagen systems in
- 9:37this show, OK, You've just. Used one of them.
- 9:41You have you got. Two more and then it's a it's
- 9:44we're cut, we're cut from the phosphagen.
- 9:46System. OK, I I'm letting you know that
- 9:49we got two more. Use them wisely.
- 9:51We got workouts to go. That was it.
- 9:53You're going to want to use them in the workouts.
- 9:55I know I. I want you to know I appreciate
- 9:57it. I appreciated your deep dives
- 10:00into that stuff, but I was like, this is going to be really hard
- 10:03for people to to listen to like like you're.
- 10:07Well, you're talking about the nerd.
- 10:08The people that would like like it love it.
- 10:11Like the nerd outerness of it. Those people love it.
- 10:14Your general viewer. It's gonna go over.
- 10:18There, like, here you go. OK, short short, end of the
- 10:20story. I was not as familiar as I
- 10:22should have been with W Prime and Critical Power.
- 10:26That's what it is, and I was enlightened from other coaches
- 10:29and I was My argument for not testing the phosphogen system
- 10:33was impressively. One man you're killing.
- 10:37Me. I'm not going to.
- 10:42I don't. Need to say it this is the only.
- 10:44Time to cover in this whole video we're going to talk about.
- 10:49Taylor lasted 2 minutes on The Tonight Show.
- 10:51Submit it longer than he usually lasts.
- 10:53Oh God, yeah, I, it was good. You talking about the cow DEET
- 10:58stuff? I read cow deets.
- 10:59I have, I have triphasic training.
- 11:02When you're talking about that, you know, the energy pathway
- 11:04stuff. It was all great.
- 11:05I was just like, man, it's going to be it.
- 11:07It felt like there was a section of it.
- 11:09I was like this feels like a TTT podcast, like one of the old
- 11:12ones with a. Little bit, yeah.
- 11:14Yeah, I can see that a little. Bit oh, what was that guy's
- 11:16name? I never can remember his name
- 11:18but but that guy, no. No, they're nerd.
- 11:22They had a nerd. Evan Evan.
- 11:24Evan Pycon. Pycon, Yeah.
- 11:28Yeah, he's good. He knows what he's talking.
- 11:29About anyway, we want to kind of recap what happened last week.
- 11:33Mayhem happened last week. How do we feel about it?
- 11:37Let's start off with the most epic event.
- 11:40Epic event. Which Why was it epic?
- 11:42Why was it epic? Gwyneth.
- 11:45Yeah. Why?
- 11:46Why was it so epic? Because it made elite athletes
- 11:49look normal. It made athletes go to failure.
- 11:53It made them go to failure. That's why it was epic.
- 11:56And this is the thing so many people are arguing with me about
- 11:59me talking about single modality testing, right?
- 12:02Max effort Sprint, Max effort jump something.
- 12:05And that was AI would argue single modality test.
- 12:09That was an injury, right? No.
- 12:11It's a single modality for sure. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:13One thing, one thing was tested and it forced athletes to go to
- 12:16utter failure and it was epic to watch.
- 12:21Who, who we all know, I think what's epic and, and I probably
- 12:25care about this more than most people did this.
- 12:28What I'm about to say is that we all know Olivia Curseder and
- 12:32Jeff Adler are the best barbell cyclers in CrossFit.
- 12:34We know that they've won repeatedly over and over and
- 12:37over. You book it, it's 100 points for
- 12:39them. Neither one of them won because
- 12:42there's a risk factor of do I want to go for it and risk this
- 12:48freaking Callum Clements, who if you aren't into CrossFit, would
- 12:54have no idea who that dude is right 11 the and beat Jeff
- 13:00Adler. Like that's like because of the
- 13:03workout. If this is 36 cleaning jerks per
- 13:05time at 185, Jeff wins going away.
- 13:08Olivia wins going away. Paige Rogers was second for the
- 13:12women, and I don't think anybody would have caught that unless
- 13:16you're Angelo De. Chico.
- 13:17Right, and he just knows. He just knows what she's going
- 13:20to do with it, right? And I honestly think that if
- 13:24Olivia was in the same lane, if Jeff was in the same lane, I
- 13:28don't think they push it. Olivia looked like she was
- 13:31hurting. She was pausing at the top,
- 13:34right. She wasn't going like at the end
- 13:36of her reps at the end of her nine.
- 13:38I'm saying because they were in different heats.
- 13:39Callum was different. He Olivia was in a different
- 13:41heat than the winners. If they put if you put them in
- 13:44the same heat. I still don't think they're
- 13:46racing that I really don't. Jeff looked like he was hurting
- 13:50because going unbroken tested. Test a different system.
- 13:55Yeah, yeah. Test a different system in a
- 13:57different way, a different stimulus than just 36 cleaning
- 14:02drugs per time. It's absolutely a different
- 14:04stimulus and everyone in my DMS would claim that that is too
- 14:08specialized of a test and I completely disagree.
- 14:11That's what people tell me. Single modality testing, people
- 14:14love to tell me, is too specialized.
- 14:16Too special you have. You have to get heavy grace.
- 14:19Is it too specialized? It's I think that's the exact
- 14:21same thing, it's just tested in a different way.
- 14:24Here's a good, here's a good, like you can be just a really
- 14:28fit, strong dude, walk off the street and do that event.
- 14:33Like you don't actually technically have to move that.
- 14:35Well, Like when I think of specificity, right, I think
- 14:38like, like if you're going to do a bunch of cleaning jerks at
- 14:42like 3-15, you have to be technically good at the cleaning
- 14:45jerk, right? But at 185 you don't have to be
- 14:48good at shit. Yeah, I mean.
- 14:51You got to be, you got to be overly strong to to.
- 14:53Yeah, you got to. Yeah.
- 14:55But like there's, I mean like, it'd be interesting to see.
- 14:57But there are great people that would flourish at Gwynn just
- 15:01because all they do is touch and go ways with the reckless
- 15:04abandoned and now they can't do anything else but 36 cleaning
- 15:08jerks per time. Jeff beats all.
- 15:11Right, correct me if I'm wrong, you guys are the programming
- 15:14guys, not me. I just follow programming.
- 15:17It's equivalent similar to like a three interval bike Sprint.
- 15:28I'm I'm trying to think of the stimulus that you're, you're
- 15:30trying to ask you. Know what I?
- 15:31Mean on the volume that those tests weigh, I mean.
- 15:33Different things. So, OK, so you're the way I
- 15:36think the. Feeling is going to be similar.
- 15:39One, I think it's about. Well, go ahead, John.
- 15:43It would, Mr. Wood. I think it's about blowing,
- 15:46blowing yourself up, right? You do that first set, everyone
- 15:49low key blows up. They're flooded with fatigue,
- 15:53lactate muscles are hot, everything, they're breathing
- 15:56hard. And it's that rest interval.
- 15:58And that rest interval I talk about so much with my athletes
- 16:01is the quick shorter your rest interval is, in theory, like for
- 16:05so many of the tests we have in CrossFit, the better you're
- 16:07gonna be, right? You do a set of chest bar, you
- 16:09come down, you get back up that rest interval.
- 16:12And like here, it was such a mandated resting role 'cause you
- 16:15had to go unbroken. So it pushed athletes to levels
- 16:18of fatigue that just slapped them in the face, and they
- 16:21weren't used to it because we never mandate these kind of
- 16:24breaks. So the levels of fatigue that
- 16:25these athletes have when they're going into workouts, it's super
- 16:29predictable, right? You get a workout on paper and
- 16:31you know exactly the way it's going to feel.
- 16:32You're going to let the, you're going to let the fatigue slowly
- 16:36come to you this way. No, no, no.
- 16:39The fatigue slapped you in the face.
- 16:41And then that second round when you slide the bar forward, then
- 16:43athletes, people are next to them.
- 16:45They're picking up that bar prematurely.
- 16:46They're picking up that bar before they should and they
- 16:49haven't even buffered nearly enough fatigue.
- 16:50So they get slapped in the face again and then people are
- 16:54finishing and then they feel like they have to pick up the
- 16:56barbell and then they start failing.
- 16:57Is it put them in a place that they're not used to because
- 17:01we're so used to these. Like I keep saying, these Taco
- 17:03Bell workouts that are the same no matter what they are is you
- 17:08can just slowly as an athlete, you can just like, you know
- 17:10exactly the way it's going to feel.
- 17:12So you just let the workout come to you.
- 17:13And that's might be to your point, John, is why Jeff Adler
- 17:16didn't win. Is this was a very different
- 17:17stimulus because it just slaps you in the face?
- 17:21And I uniquely practice that stimulus in every workout.
- 17:27Why you just come out hot? I no, I do some stuff, then I
- 17:31sit down for a minute, then I do some stuff and then I sit down
- 17:34for a minute and. Just interval training.
- 17:35Now I'm not even coming out hot man.
- 17:37My my level of fitness gives me that stimulus.
- 17:40They don't, they don't know, they don't know that stimulus.
- 17:43So. What what I was thinking about
- 17:45is so like they mandated how you had to do that workout, right is
- 17:49unbroken, unbroken broken and Castro or Baz, whoever was
- 17:53programming that year is when they tried to do it.
- 17:55The games on the rower, right, They tried to mandate a row
- 17:58pace. The rope was like it was overly
- 18:01soft. It was like OK, why 3:15 for a
- 18:04win? It was like it wasn't like crazy
- 18:06aggressive like they were just like experimenting.
- 18:08I would like why don't they do that more often like.
- 18:10And it's OK. Well, that one.
- 18:12It's OK if you miss. That one in particular was lame
- 18:15because it didn't it didn't add any excitement to the workout.
- 18:19It didn't elicit an aggressive enough response of fatigue to
- 18:23have them reach failure. So for example.
- 18:26What did they say? The random 50 thrusters unbroken
- 18:28with £95. They did say that.
- 18:31No, no. What if if if like the row you
- 18:33do, you do whatever you want to do on the row.
- 18:35But think think, just how would you approach this?
- 18:37I don't know if you do. Whatever you want to do in the
- 18:39row, the thruster has to be unbroken.
- 18:42That's too big of an ask. Like, here's one.
- 18:43Here's a good example of this man.
- 18:45I think I think people can. 50 thrusters, 50 thrusters in a row
- 18:48at £95. That's and there will work out
- 18:50when people can no. No, no, no, no, no the row.
- 18:54Is not that's. What I'm saying the row is not
- 18:57mandated. How slow would people row?
- 19:00But then it's like how fast do you want to row?
- 19:03I wouldn't. I wouldn't mandate it at the
- 19:06beginning. So here's an example.
- 19:07This is what I do. I do this all time in training
- 19:09and this is 1 all these semi final athletes can do.
- 19:11You start a workout 30 calories for guys, you might even be able
- 19:15to go 35, like 20 to 24 ish for girls.
- 19:19Make them Sprint, make them do it under 50 seconds.
- 19:22Just make them all out Sprint and if they don't do it, they're
- 19:24done. They're not going to the
- 19:25workout. So they're going into the
- 19:27workout right after a Max effort Sprint and then they're going
- 19:31through super high levels of fatigue.
- 19:34Why don't we mandate? I think you could absolutely
- 19:37mandate things like that in competition that we just, we
- 19:39just never do. I don't think.
- 19:40About because what you said, John, they're afraid to fail.
- 19:43It it need? It would have to be A2 parter
- 19:45for that. Like like James Newberry and
- 19:48great, then make it a two-part, then make it a two-part score.
- 19:51Yeah, like that's 2019 James Newberry when he sent it.
- 19:54Like I think you can have workouts like that, like like
- 19:56what you just said with 35 callus.
- 19:58It's a Sprint for some but like. All your big guys, that's the
- 20:02pace they were going to do anyway.
- 20:04Like like they would. Not do a bunch of gymnastics.
- 20:08It wouldn't change the winner. I really don't think it would.
- 20:10Well, let me push back a little bit because I think that there's
- 20:14a bit of like intrusiveness on the pace stuff where it's like
- 20:19you have to do this pace and it feels manufactured, whereas Gwen
- 20:22does not feel that way. It's like you, I mean like you
- 20:26have to do it unbroken, but it's.
- 20:27That's true. And I don't know if it's because
- 20:29the workout was originally written that way so it feels
- 20:32less intrusive, but I want stuff that elicits you to have to do
- 20:35that. But I don't want like, I don't
- 20:37want it to be so explicit. And I don't like, I don't know
- 20:40enough about programming to be able to do that all the time,
- 20:42but that's what I don't like about.
- 20:46The games workout, it's, it's more of you set up workouts
- 20:51where it pays to go for it, but just a few people are gonna make
- 20:55it right. But then you have to have a
- 20:57really good idea of where people are, like what's possible.
- 21:01And I don't think Dave has a good idea of what's possible.
- 21:04But like the Totobar workout is the same thing.
- 21:06Can you make it in three intervals and only like 5 people
- 21:11did? That's a beautiful workout,
- 21:14right? Like like they like they did it
- 21:16multiple times. But I agree with you, Tyler,
- 21:21that having a mandated pay like having I like it for one
- 21:25workout. I don't think you can do it for
- 21:27two workouts now. It's like it's it's.
- 21:30But they you make a good point that they kind of did sneak it
- 21:32in with the 3334. I didn't Never.
- 21:37I never thought about that workout that way.
- 21:39Course, but the bench press workouts like that too.
- 21:41But then the time cap forces everybody to go for it.
- 21:44Well, since we're moving on to other workouts, I don't like the
- 21:47final. I, I don't get it.
- 21:50Like what does it test? I'm fine with the final.
- 21:53It it was, it was. I don't think it it didn't add
- 21:58anything like what did we find out about an athlete in that
- 22:03workout that really contributes to the Games athletically?
- 22:09Athletically. Oh God.
- 22:13They're taking bench. Press No, it's it's not an
- 22:17athletic workout, though, Tyler. What is it then?
- 22:21It's a burn your triceps up way more than you want to and then
- 22:27can you lunge after? That I'm looking for the
- 22:29workout. It's 50 bench press with 70s for
- 22:34the men, 50s for the girls or 30 bench press, 70 for the men, 50
- 22:39for the girls. 202 hundred double unders with a slightly
- 22:45heavier rope than you're used to.
- 22:47It's like a it's not a heavy rope, it's not a speed rope.
- 22:50And then 100 foot lunge with both of the dumbbells.
- 22:54But the time cap was 4 minutes so only.
- 22:59I like it. I.
- 23:00Only five women finished and like I would say, half of the
- 23:05men finished. But what purpose does it serve?
- 23:09It's a race at the end, the workout.
- 23:11Yeah, I don't. Think, I mean, that's a big
- 23:12time, that's a, in my opinion, that's a big time shoulder
- 23:15workout. I mean, you're going to the
- 23:16going to the rope after those 30 bench, your shoulders are tired,
- 23:22levels of fatigue in your shoulder are higher.
- 23:24And then when you start mixing that with a monostructural
- 23:27movement like jump rope, the response is going to be much
- 23:29higher if the fatigue was higher in your shoulders.
- 23:33So he has shoulder endurance. Well, no, I mean doing 200 dubs
- 23:37unbroken after 30 bench press, that is no joke.
- 23:40With a heavy rope, yeah, your shoulders are lit.
- 23:41And if you go into a monostructural movement focused
- 23:45on your shoulders, I mean lost shoulders with a heavy rope,
- 23:47your heart rate's going to go up way higher, way quicker, because
- 23:50there's already fatigue in the working muscles that are trying
- 23:52to be performed at a more aerobic setting.
- 23:57Like I, I, I think what you're asking, like I could say that
- 24:00about any workout. No, you can't say that about the
- 24:045K, but. What did we learn?
- 24:06Like you just ran. We know hey, it's faster.
- 24:09Like, like that's what you're saying?
- 24:12That's not true. Like.
- 24:14Is that not what he's saying? No, You're, you're.
- 24:16Asking you're what you're meaning to ask is what is it
- 24:19testing, right? Yeah.
- 24:22I would say a lot of the triceps shoulder.
- 24:24Fatigue like like. OK, that's that's a fine.
- 24:26That's a fine answer. I'm OK with that.
- 24:29Or else. Everybody would have went
- 24:31unbroken in the 200 double unders and very few did.
- 24:34It feels like a strange place to test, like shoulder capacity,
- 24:38like is the final event, but I it's just in a weird place.
- 24:41But that that's OK. I just didn't think about it
- 24:44like that. So that's fine.
- 24:45You're you're helping me learn. Yeah, I mean, it was shoulder to
- 24:49capacity until you got to the lunges.
- 24:50And the lunges was just like, hold on for dear life.
- 24:53Right pain capacity. Hopefully, I mean people that's
- 24:57more just your heart rate at that point.
- 25:00Overall, I think we all liked the programming I thought made.
- 25:03Him it was. Fantastic.
- 25:04It was cool. I wanted to do every single
- 25:06workout. I did run 3 miles the the day
- 25:11after I did the event 4. So I was basically in the same
- 25:16place they were going into Day 2, you know?
- 25:19Basically I. Agree basically.
- 25:21Have you done Gwen? I haven't I, I don't think I can
- 25:25do Gwen like I don't think I can go on.
- 25:27Bro do it at 165. I'm not going to do it.
- 25:29If I do it once, I like, I want like you saw me get to the third
- 25:33round, not do 10 and then not go to the fourth round because I
- 25:36couldn't do 10. Try to go 155.
- 25:39Try to beat me. No, I want to do it at 185.
- 25:43You can't. You just told me you can't I.
- 25:45I can probably get like 9 or 10 in and then I'm just going to
- 25:49pass out. Then do it right.
- 25:53No. Yeah, see, Hobart agrees with
- 25:56me. Hobart gets it.
- 26:02I I liked all of them. I was surprised at how much
- 26:05people were failing, but I was really, I was a good surprise.
- 26:09Were you? Surprised, Mr. Wood.
- 26:13I wouldn't have guessed it would have been that epic.
- 26:15No, I mean, it's because we just don't do it.
- 26:17We we don't, we don't do tests like that.
- 26:19Yeah, we don't. We don't push athletes to their
- 26:21absolute breaking point for the reasons I explained is we don't.
- 26:25Athletes know what fatigue is coming.
- 26:27You can see it a mile away. And that workout, it just hit
- 26:31people in the face. It would hit me in the face, hit
- 26:33everyone in the face. So it's Victor, Roman and 3rd.
- 26:41You got it. Jeff.
- 26:44Jeff, John. We let my.
- 26:47Eyes were on Austin the entire. Time we let Tyler figure stuff
- 26:51out when he tries to. I'm pretty proud of myself for
- 26:54getting that correct, by the way.
- 26:55Thank you. Thank you.
- 26:56I'm very proud, yes. I didn't think I that was kind
- 26:59of a guess, to be completely honest.
- 27:01So that leaves Austin. Who else has to now go to a
- 27:06different? Event.
- 27:07Just let him. We don't have time for that.
- 27:09No, John, this is a bad one. This is a bad one.
- 27:12He's forgetting. OK, So you let him get it.
- 27:14Please. No.
- 27:15Don't Austin. All I can think about is Austin
- 27:19Colton. That's that's that's pretty much
- 27:22it for like your perennial games guys.
- 27:26Quinn Robinson needs to go somewhere.
- 27:27I really hope he gets. Dude, he's a stud.
- 27:30He is a stud I was at when I was at crash, the last competition I
- 27:33did and I was out there and I didn't know who it was and most
- 27:37of the time I when. He got second.
- 27:39Well, it was in the first Yeah, he did.
- 27:41He crushed it. It was in the first workout.
- 27:42And usually I can like it was a pretty balanced workout.
- 27:44So I was like, OK, I know this person, I probably should be.
- 27:47And then right away he was just way ahead of me and there was no
- 27:52shot of me catching him after like 3 minutes.
- 27:54And then after the workout I was like, who are?
- 27:57You. You are really good.
- 27:59He's he's, he's really bad at pressing and then everything
- 28:03else. Freaking elite man.
- 28:06Yeah. I mean, I think, I think some
- 28:08overhead length like squat, snatch, I'm not sure.
- 28:12But like pressing pressing's the reason he won't make stuff is
- 28:15what I'm saying. Like yeah, you can.
- 28:18There's a snatch workout, not a Max snatch, so you can get
- 28:20through that right. But like the handstand push up
- 28:24prowess is not where he. Struggles.
- 28:27Yeah, I've been looking up real quick.
- 28:30I mean, I probably got similar score to him as in the
- 28:34quarterfinals workout is what you're referring to I think.
- 28:37What'd you get? Me, I got what did I get?
- 28:42Not good. I got 1150.
- 28:47Not good. We're very.
- 28:49Close. I did it.
- 28:50I did it once. And then I was like, that's good
- 28:53enough. I'm I'm fine with that.
- 28:56I no, no, I don't know how much faster I could get.
- 28:58What'd you get, John? I took AI took.
- 29:01That's a real question. I took more.
- 29:03Time. No no no.
- 29:05I took more time to do 4 handstand push ups than I did 26
- 29:08the 1st 20. 60 Wow, yeah. I was I went 26 and then just
- 29:13hit. A wall.
- 29:15And like I had done it previous with 30 unbroken handstand push
- 29:19ups and it was fine. And then I tried to push it a
- 29:23little bit harder on the when I was doing it doing it.
- 29:27And I guess that's the difference between 4 handstand
- 29:28push ups because I just hit an absolute wall.
- 29:31And then I went 112 and it took longer to do that than it did
- 29:36the 1st 26. It was so So.
- 29:38What was your time 11:57? Oh.
- 29:43Yeah, yeah. No, you're great.
- 29:47On the on the women's side, we have.
- 29:50I'm I'm not like you. You're fitter than I am, I
- 29:54guess. Fine.
- 29:56On the women's side we have Paige, who won, Emma Lawson and
- 30:00Lucinda Campbell, leaving off a lot more women that have to
- 30:08figure something out. Olivia, who we'll talk about
- 30:13here in a minute, Kyra. Yeah, Kyra.
- 30:20Lucy Mcgonagall, Reese Littlewood, I know she's going
- 30:23to the French Throwdown. Abby Dolman.
- 30:28We'll probably talk about her in a minute.
- 30:30What's the Max amount of events not including online semis?
- 30:37We'll see Athletes do 2. The green person you.
- 30:40Think I'll see athletes? Legends and then Syndicate
- 30:42Norcal like like they'll do Legends.
- 30:45And online, yeah, four, there will be people that do 4.
- 30:50I think dude, if you're if you don't get it at the second one
- 30:54in person, you just go, I'm I'm telling you as a coach, just go
- 30:58to online. Like I don't think it's good.
- 31:00It's not good for the athlete like to go to red line 4 times
- 31:05like that. Like in a in a what?
- 31:07The two-month span. Yeah, for the longevity of your
- 31:10career. Are you kidding me?
- 31:12I mean, like, I hope these athletes have coaches that are
- 31:14telling them like, hey, maybe, maybe we move our chips to next
- 31:18year at this point, but like that's not happening.
- 31:20There's there's going to be athletes that just go all out
- 31:23four times and I don't know, I don't know how they do it, but
- 31:27they're going to do it and then the longevity of their career is
- 31:30going to suffer from it. I think you could.
- 31:33I mean, Sprague's getting away with it.
- 31:36He is. How much longer is he going to
- 31:38go? We don't know.
- 31:41I mean they're they're giving him $80,000, so it's or
- 31:46$100,000, whatever it is. So I think it's pretty easy when
- 31:49that's happening. Yeah.
- 31:50Andy to mail it in. Look at this is what I always
- 31:54talk about. Look at Frazier.
- 31:55Frazier did whatever his two competitions every year and.
- 31:58He would just rogue in the games.
- 32:00He would just. He would just go dominate them.
- 32:02So like certain athletes doing all these competitions, one, I
- 32:07think it's definitely benefiting the longevity of the career, and
- 32:11two, I think it's stunting their expression of fitness at the
- 32:15events they go to. John but but God John full on
- 32:22sees right there was aiming. For my microphone, I hit the
- 32:25camera. This is a question for both of
- 32:26you. What what are your thoughts on
- 32:28Haley? What do you do to fix her
- 32:29weaknesses? And can you, I'm more interested
- 32:31in what does this mean for her through the semis?
- 32:35Do you guys think she's out or you think she's going?
- 32:38So I was. Talking to the games.
- 32:40Yeah. I think she'll make it online.
- 32:44I think I mean she'll make the games, Haley will make the
- 32:46games. What was the what did the
- 32:47comments say? What my thoughts on her
- 32:48weaknesses were? Weaknesses were and what you
- 32:50can. Do can you, Sir, can you fix her
- 32:52weaknesses? This is what I think.
- 32:54I have a. Strong opinion on this.
- 32:56I do too. I was, I think I posted
- 33:03something a while back about like my own fitness and like me
- 33:07and just like what I thought has happened to it.
- 33:09And then I had a coach, Sam Smith, really smart, knows what
- 33:11he's doing. And he let me know Sam Smith,
- 33:16he's a Irish guy. What?
- 33:19Yeah, Yeah. And he kind of brought me on and
- 33:22he lets me into some of this data.
- 33:24And like how big of a deal it is in whatever performance,
- 33:28whatever sport you're playing is just on internally motivated
- 33:31factors, like if you're not red hot, internally driven in our
- 33:36sport, especially to just. Absolutely.
- 33:38Hurt. Day in and day out, like Hoppers
- 33:41posted something several months ago and he was like, our sport
- 33:44is the hardest in the world. And I agreed with him.
- 33:46I was like, the level of suck that you have to endure to be a
- 33:49Games athlete is incredibly high.
- 33:51Just piece after piece after piece.
- 33:53And I think I question if Haley was here, I'd be like, do you
- 33:58feel like your motivation is as high now as it was five years
- 34:02ago? Yeah, what?
- 34:04What is it? That's hard because she took a
- 34:06year off because it wasn't it was it was too much like it was
- 34:11hurting her, right? So now it's.
- 34:14It's an Icarus situation. It's she.
- 34:16She flew too high, too early. Got.
- 34:20Burned. I mean, she didn't stop.
- 34:21Burnt she did. Absolutely stomped.
- 34:24I mean or maybe or. Not I don't.
- 34:26I don't think she wants to do what?
- 34:28It would take. Go ahead, John.
- 34:31I think she can put her head into a wall every single day and
- 34:34do more workouts than everybody and and blah blah blah blah
- 34:38blah. The I think she legitimately
- 34:42like has to lift heavy frequently and not work out like
- 34:49like 70% less of workout because she works out so much that I
- 34:57promised. Like the heavy lifting she's
- 34:59doing is still too much volume and it's doesn't elicit the
- 35:03stimulus that is needed to get stronger or like the CNS fatigue
- 35:09to get stronger. And I don't, I mean, but but
- 35:14wait, I don't, I don't think she ever will though.
- 35:16I don't or she would have by now.
- 35:19I mean she. She's bigger and stronger than
- 35:22she was several years ago. Is she?
- 35:25You know that for a fact? What's her Max match?
- 35:27What's her? What's her Max clean?
- 35:30How much muscle mass? Just take a picture.
- 35:32Take a picture. She's bigger.
- 35:33She's bigger. No.
- 35:35I think she muscle wise, she's bigger than she was.
- 35:37I think she's. Bigger.
- 35:37I think she's more ripped. Yeah, I'll get.
- 35:39Yeah, I think she's more. Ripped John.
- 35:40She's definitely more jet like, has more muscle.
- 35:43Go. Ahead and put up her back squat.
- 35:45What? What was it?
- 35:45Oh, second to last. Danielle Brandon's the only one
- 35:48who didn't beat her. Y'all are right, she's way
- 35:50stronger. Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 35:52Tell me. She's way bigger.
- 35:54I don't care what she looks like, I care about what freaking
- 35:57numbers are on the barbell and it's the same freaking stuff
- 36:00every single year. I don't think she will do what
- 36:04it takes to get stronger because you know what you have to do to
- 36:06get stronger. Trust me, I'm familiar with it.
- 36:09You can't work out as much as you do you.
- 36:11Have to rest. You got to like murder your legs
- 36:15and not a freaking 10 by 10 style.
- 36:19I know how Mayhem lifts. I've seen my wife didn't
- 36:21Mayhem's programming for a year. I've watched freaking.
- 36:26They don't they it's just volume, volume, volume.
- 36:29To actually get stronger. You cannot do that.
- 36:35OK, so hold on. So for the record, you believe
- 36:37she's put on muscle mass, She has increased size and her
- 36:40strength has remained absolutely the same.
- 36:42Give me give me the data point that would say no Refute me.
- 36:48Speaking get better at Rogue and get stronger, but in relation to
- 36:52Danielle she might not have gotten like stronger.
- 36:55First off, I didn't say she was bigger.
- 36:58I think she's more ripped up, but I don't think she's bigger.
- 37:01I said she's bigger. All right.
- 37:03I think she lost somebody fat. I don't think that means she's
- 37:08bigger. I'd be interested to see if her
- 37:09weight changed at all. We don't know that, right?
- 37:12But if you say we know that, we know that we know that, that she
- 37:16weighs more. Bro, you're trying to go.
- 37:19You don't think she weighs more than five years ago?
- 37:21Someone call me like someone's got to be.
- 37:22I can't see 5. Years ago, Not five years ago.
- 37:25Where's? Barkley when you.
- 37:26Need him? I'm talking two years ago.
- 37:27You're arguing 2021 versus now. I'm arguing 2023 versus now.
- 37:33OK. And you might be right about
- 37:34that. That's what.
- 37:35That's what I'm saying. No, no, yes, I think she's
- 37:37bigger than whenever she was fifth place in the world at at
- 37:41the CrossFit Games. I I think she's bigger now than
- 37:43them. If that's what you're arguing
- 37:46then the rate of her return on strength is more poor than
- 37:51everybody else because her placements have not changed.
- 37:55If it's if it's barbell cycling, she was always pretty decent at
- 37:59cycling 90% of her Max's. She's better than that than
- 38:02most. But if it when pure brute
- 38:05strength everything that's always killed her.
- 38:10Show me the data point where that has improved and they'll
- 38:14tell me she's stronger. You're attributing her lack of
- 38:20strength progression in the last two years to a flaw in
- 38:23programming, and I would. Strongly disagree.
- 38:26Mindset. The flaw in her mindset.
- 38:30I don't think she will slow down enough to attribute the actual
- 38:35stimulus. Would need it to make her
- 38:37stronger. Yeah, I see.
- 38:40I disagree. I think she's probably doing the
- 38:43XS and OS of strength training just fine I think.
- 38:45You think it's working? No, I think there's more to it.
- 38:49I think it's more something along the lines of genetic
- 38:51potential rather than just doing the XS and OS correctly.
- 38:55I mean you know, I'll tell you what I think she does 3 months
- 38:57of JY barbell and that's it. I bet you she gets stronger.
- 39:01There you go. Just just for strength work,
- 39:03just for strength work, you go, do you know, we, we talk about
- 39:05volume, but this isn't a ploy for that, I promise.
- 39:09I mean, I don't disagree with your notion about training too
- 39:11much to illicit responses for strength training being held as
- 39:16too high in our space. That's definitely true.
- 39:18But I think she's, I think it's more a question of genetic
- 39:21potential rather than if that's. The case, if that's the case, if
- 39:26you're going to say it's genetic potential, which I refuse to
- 39:31just chalk it up and be like, well, that's just all I have.
- 39:34But then if that, if that's and if that is the answer, John, if
- 39:37that is the answer, Mr. Wood, then then no, you can't fix her
- 39:42weakness. She's genetically destined to be
- 39:45freaking weak. You can't fix it.
- 39:48It's like it's either that or you don't know how to get
- 39:55strong. Dude, she's training at Mayhem.
- 39:57They know how to get strong over there.
- 39:59OK, then show me who's gotten stronger.
- 40:01Give me the data point of what he snatched before he got there
- 40:04and what he snatches now. It's the freaking sack.
- 40:06Show me Roman. Show me Roman's back squat to
- 40:09whenever he joined. Then from Roy West End, it's the
- 40:11freaking sack. Show me one person.
- 40:15I mean, you, don't you. I think they know how to get
- 40:18bitter. I think they know how to get
- 40:19bitter. Do they need to get stronger?
- 40:22No, but you said she's at Mayhem.
- 40:24Of course she knows how to get strong.
- 40:26Show me who has gotten strong. I think they're great at.
- 40:30Getting they came in, they all came in pretty good though,
- 40:33John. That's that's kind of hard.
- 40:34Besides Haley. That's true.
- 40:36They came in pretty good. You're right.
- 40:39Show me the person who's gotten any stronger.
- 40:43OK. Hey, that's a great point, Rich.
- 40:45Let's see what he is now versus 8 years ago.
- 40:48He's not fair. So what?
- 40:50OK, OK, it's not fair, but he's the one who said it.
- 40:53He's the one who said it. Let's play this game.
- 40:55So what was Haley's best finish at the games way back in what,
- 40:5820? 5th.
- 40:59OK so tell me about how strong she was then why she got fifth
- 41:05bottom 5 there were? 5 running events and she can win
- 41:10and she was faster than Tia at the time and she had.
- 41:13And that her genetic potential is a better runner than Tia for
- 41:17sure. And then she tried to get
- 41:19strong, put on some weight and then lost her running home run
- 41:22ability and I think that she has now gotten that back.
- 41:27That doesn't mean she's any stronger.
- 41:29She still has the same weaknesses.
- 41:32I'm, I'm trying Bill, I'm trying my hardest here.
- 41:34This is I'm out of my depth on this.
- 41:38OK, let's move on from Haley. We we agree and disagree all at
- 41:43the same time. About Haley, I don't.
- 41:45We don't have a solution. There's no solution, but OK, one
- 41:48last question about mayhem, then we'll move on the the man.
- 41:51I think most all the men that we're worried about will make it
- 41:55to the games personally. Well, I could see John.
- 42:00This is a This is a good name. I know we're going to get off of
- 42:02it, but Seth Stovall's been snatching a lot lately.
- 42:05I don't know what he was snatching before, but it's
- 42:08impressive whatever he's doing now.
- 42:09So that could be a great data point.
- 42:12John, you bit me in the ass this weekend because Austin, he still
- 42:18can't get rid of the choke factor.
- 42:19He's going to choke. I mean, I believe I called him
- 42:23to choke as well. I mean, yeah, but that's like
- 42:25calling a dog to shit in. The You were all in the yard.
- 42:28You were all in on him. I know I'm always all in on
- 42:31Hatfield, but I so he might be like a potential to mess it up
- 42:37and not qualify like he we might have a Sam Briggs situation with
- 42:40him. On the women's side, you'll make
- 42:44it online. On the women's side, I mean like
- 42:46there were so many women who are who are have been to the games.
- 42:49Do you think, is there any one athlete that won't make it back
- 42:53to the Games from that that competed at Mayhem this weekend?
- 43:00Can you repeat the question? I'm sorry, I was reading.
- 43:02Comments Who's not going to make the games from Mayhem on the
- 43:04girls side? That the online portion of this,
- 43:09the online portion of this is the most impossible part, yeah.
- 43:12Because we don't know what the program is going to.
- 43:14Be no, no. I just think it's such a
- 43:16freaking catch all that it's like they'll probably all make
- 43:20it through that. Like people that you care about?
- 43:23Yeah, I feel like I Emily Rolf, right?
- 43:28Well, write it down right now. I think at least one of the the
- 43:32athletes who have been to the Games, perennial athletes,
- 43:34somebody we care about, will not make it back to the Games.
- 43:38That was at Mayhem. Yeah, there's no one.
- 43:42Yeah, that's yeah, at least at least one.
- 43:44Who? Who are we?
- 43:45Who are we making it go all the way down to?
- 43:48I know they're bullers. To me, I was just including
- 43:52games athletes, so like Claudia Gluck, Haley Abbey.
- 43:58Gluck is a good one because I know Lucy's doing French
- 44:01Throwdown and I know Reese is doing French throwdown.
- 44:05Mirror him is doing French throwdown.
- 44:06Like there's going to be your your competitions are going to
- 44:09be more full than people think. Claudia Gluck is a good one
- 44:16because she's very program dependent and what's bad is like
- 44:20she's one of those specialists that like can win events at the
- 44:24games that it's always nice to have those.
- 44:27I'm in favor of having those people rather than somebody
- 44:31who's all around fit. But it's going to get 25th
- 44:33place. And not that they're less
- 44:36deserving, they are. If you make it, you're
- 44:38deserving. But I just like when the
- 44:40specialist can kind of ruin things for people.
- 44:44OK, we're going to move on. Gabby.
- 44:49It's hard to talk about Gabby because you know, she's in her
- 44:53recovery. I hope she makes it, but it's
- 44:55not like it's a travesty if she doesn't make it.
- 44:59I think if. You can see it if she doesn't.
- 45:00Yeah, yeah, yeah. If she doesn't make it this
- 45:02year, she absolutely will be a monster next year.
- 45:05Like nobody would fault her for not making it.
- 45:07No, I want her to make it, yeah. That field was stacked, man.
- 45:12Oh yeah, on. The women's side, it was insane.
- 45:14Like Gabby, her worst event was a run, which makes me think like
- 45:19she she's yeah, but she's great at running.
- 45:23Like that used to be her best thing.
- 45:25Yeah, dude, that tissue's still coming back, dude.
- 45:27But no, I'm saying I'm saying if it had, if it doesn't come back
- 45:30next year, she will for sure. That's what I'm saying.
- 45:33Like she'll be, she'll be a freaking hitter.
- 45:38Grant, I don't know what you've done.
- 45:41You've convinced everybody we have a call in number.
- 45:42We don't have spin here. How do you think we have a call
- 45:45in number? Herpes.
- 45:46We can't pull up a. Call herpes free since 9 since
- 45:49O3 you can't call in Grant you're definitely calling it not
- 45:53calling in. Knock that out.
- 45:57Legends is this weekend. We're going to talk about the
- 46:01programming first. We'll talk about some other
- 46:06controversy here in a minute. I feel bad about my Mayhem tape.
- 46:10About Wahoo. I just feel bad.
- 46:13I I like I like mayhem, I'm trying to be positive towards
- 46:15them and y'all made me like not positive towards them and I I
- 46:18mean I think they're doing we got.
- 46:20You. We.
- 46:21Didn't make you. We did not make you do anything.
- 46:23No, we didn't hold the gun to the same.
- 46:26I'm not. I'm not.
- 46:27Blaming on you guys, I'm just saying I feel bad and I'm just
- 46:30going to say that I mean everything I said about Haley
- 46:32and I don't take any of that back.
- 46:34But as far as whereas everybody else goes, y'all might be
- 46:37improving and I just can't see it.
- 46:39Paige Rogers might win the freaking CrossFit game.
- 46:41So like, she's doing something. Is she not the clear favorite?
- 46:44Like am I crazy? Or for the games.
- 46:46Yes. Not for me.
- 46:48I don't think she's clear. Favorite.
- 46:50I'll give you my reasoning. She's top five for sure.
- 46:53I'll give you my reasoning. Her worst thing is running.
- 46:58Running gets tested at the games more than anything else.
- 47:02Pretty much always because we don't really test running in any
- 47:05other capacity, any other level until the game.
- 47:08Some obviously some semi semi finals absolutely should, but we
- 47:12don't test it a ton. She was ninth in the run in a
- 47:17games field. That's going to end up like I
- 47:19know this, the women's field was stacked, but when everybody's
- 47:21there, it's going to be more like a 13th or a 15th right on a
- 47:26just a run. But it's hard for me to say the
- 47:28winner of the games is going to be bad at running.
- 47:33Like running is going to be their worst thing.
- 47:35Show me show. Me.
- 47:37That's fair. That's a good take.
- 47:38That's a good take. Yeah.
- 47:40That's almost. I don't.
- 47:41I don't. Like that take.
- 47:43I don't like that take, I mean. It's a good.
- 47:44It's a. Good take.
- 47:45It's 2026, John. They run a lot of the games as
- 47:49they should. They used to run a lot at the
- 47:51games. I just wish they did a 40 meter
- 47:53Sprint or 40 yard dash. Do a 40 yard dash.
- 47:56Let's clock these athletes. Now it used to.
- 47:58It used to be awesome whenever like Kristen Holti would win the
- 48:02Sprint and win the distance and like, that's like she's athletic
- 48:07when you win both of them. Like it's like, dude, she's
- 48:11yeah, she's pretty great. Yeah, here we go.
- 48:13Thank you, Phil. Thank you, Phil.
- 48:14Pulling me out of the freak. Fight.
- 48:15But that's, that's my reasoning why it's hard for me to say that
- 48:18she could win, you know? Very good reasoning, Very good
- 48:21reasoning. All right.
- 48:23Legends Events. We'll give our.
- 48:27Feel the same way about Victor Hoffer.
- 48:29Like if you want to. Stop.
- 48:30Dang it. Done.
- 48:31You're done. Let's cut.
- 48:32I'm going to kick you off Legends.
- 48:34How do we feel about one sentence?
- 48:36I can't. That's what froze my computer.
- 48:39Who's trying to pull those work out there?
- 48:41I'll try. I don't like the thought of you
- 48:43trying to do it neither. Thoughts as a whole?
- 48:47One sentence Legends programming.
- 48:51Would. Mr. Wood, do you have a chance
- 48:53to look at it yet? I it's in front of me.
- 48:55I'm looking at the first workout and I was about to ask you
- 48:57questions about it. OK, thanks.
- 49:02Thanks Susan for noticing. What did he say?
- 49:08He said Tyler trying to for the fifth time to move on.
- 49:11Yeah, John, you're free, you're freezing up, but it's OK.
- 49:14Event 1/4 time X Bike ski 200 double enters with beaded rope,
- 49:2122 minute time cap. So we have no idea about it.
- 49:25We have no idea what the the the X is.
- 49:31I mean it seems like a version on.
- 49:34Thank you, John. Look at that dude.
- 49:36Oh snap, I did that. Thank you.
- 49:39That's. Wild.
- 49:40I don't know how I did that. Oh nice.
- 49:43We do not know the distances. We don't know anything.
- 49:46So I feel it it it's sort of like a 333.
- 49:49I'm calling it throuple 3. A little bit, but the orders
- 49:53like it's, I mean, it's different stuff.
- 49:55Everything's different. Everything not not the.
- 49:59That's why I'm calling it throuple 3.
- 50:01It's a double though. It's a throuple double.
- 50:04Throuple double it's 3 movements.
- 50:06Yeah, but everything was 3 and triple. 30 So you think this
- 50:10will be some iteration of 22? K ski I think it'll be a 6K bike
- 50:152K ski 200 double unders or maybe a 200 Cal bike 2K ski 200
- 50:20double unders. I think that's AI.
- 50:23Think that's a fair guess? I think that works with the
- 50:26time. I don't know I dude, I I hate
- 50:32playing this guessing game. I have no idea.
- 50:34It could be so many things. John's.
- 50:36I think John was fairly on point with what it could be.
- 50:41How long is that? So would you say 6K bike John?
- 50:45A 6K bike, 2K ski, 200 double Enders, that would be a 22
- 50:49minute exactly if you hold a 2 minute pace.
- 50:53But they might go, they might go 200 cows bike, 200 Calabike, 2K
- 50:59ski. Trying to think of how long that
- 51:01would take. I mean 20 cows a minute would be
- 51:0310 minutes. That would fit right at the
- 51:04thing too. So 202 K 200.
- 51:07That sounds pretty if they wanted to be pretty about it.
- 51:11That's going to be entertaining to watch.
- 51:14That fits time cap pretty darn perfectly.
- 51:17Wait, you said 200 Cal bike? 200 Cal bike 2K ski 200 double
- 51:24unders. Yeah.
- 51:28I mean, the time cap, Yeah, I don't think everyone would
- 51:32finish that. No, that's the point, right?
- 51:35But usually, yeah, yeah, I like, I don't know what they're going
- 51:37for, the time cap. And usually I feel like in these
- 51:39endurance events, it's usually better to try and err on the
- 51:41side of having everyone accumulate the volume.
- 51:43But I don't know what they're going for.
- 51:45But if that's the case, then your winners are going to be 16
- 51:48minutes. And if your long workout is 16
- 51:50minutes, that's not great. There you go.
- 51:53That's it. Probably won't.
- 51:55Be hit the over button on that post there John.
- 51:58OK I'm trying to go to comp corner 'cause they will have the
- 52:03the weights. The entire thing Event number 24
- 52:07time 30 Chest of bar pull ups. 30 Sandbag cleans. 30 Chest of
- 52:12bar pull ups. The sandbag cleans are 150 and
- 52:16100. OK, I don't hate this one.
- 52:22Cool, short. What's the cap like?
- 52:265 minutes? 6-6 minutes.
- 52:29Minutes. That's awesome.
- 52:32That's cool. Yeah.
- 52:38Do you go on broken on the first?
- 52:39Everyone's going on broken on the first chest of bar.
- 52:42Kind of reminds me of that. Which?
- 52:45That overhead squat, our chest bar overhead squat workout.
- 52:48I mean, it's a little it's, it's pretty different from that, but
- 52:50I've a similar kind of time domain and stress.
- 52:56Yeah, they're probably going to. I mean they're going to, I mean
- 52:59everyone's going to do singles probably on the cleans.
- 53:02There might be a couple people that I bet there.
- 53:05I mean there will be more women. I mean that's the thing.
- 53:06The 150 to 100 LB bag definitely favors the women more in speed
- 53:11is there will be women that'll do touch and go.
- 53:13Well, I think they'll make them a lot more.
- 53:15Women that do touch and go than men, men doing touch and go on
- 53:18that is. It's just harder.
- 53:19There might be a couple. Do you think we'll see some BS
- 53:22reps on the sandbag clean? I mean, I think if you do like
- 53:26the handoff thing, it's hard to like I think most of the time
- 53:29that's pretty, that's pretty solid.
- 53:30But I I think they'll enforce singles instead of letting them
- 53:34go touch and go you. Don't think it'd go over the
- 53:37shoulder. No, they it would say sandbag
- 53:40clean over the shoulder or sandbag over the shoulder.
- 53:44I I don't like that it ends on chest.
- 53:46Chest a bar because like, you won't really know where
- 53:49anybody's. Dude, if there's a race and your
- 53:51biceps are pumped, like if people get to the chest bar the
- 53:55same time, it is not. People are not just holding on
- 54:00to that 30 unbroken. Dallin does this once a week.
- 54:03Now he just says no. I don't know what this is in
- 54:06reference to he. Did it last week.
- 54:08He there was no context, just no, no touch and go.
- 54:13It is dumb. I think I would agree.
- 54:15Like you, you should. Be touch and go is dumb.
- 54:18No, it is dumb. Yeah.
- 54:22No. Like it's a dumb standard.
- 54:24No, I think there will be there will be women there doing touch
- 54:27and go. I can guarantee that.
- 54:28I would be shocked if there wasn't shocked.
- 54:31But I agree with Alan, I think no.
- 54:33I'm saying I think they'll enforce it.
- 54:35They'll enforce singles. Why?
- 54:37You can just get on your shoulder, take your arm off the
- 54:38bat. It slows down the workout like
- 54:40crazy if you do that. Too, because you got to go.
- 54:42Faster. I think that's stupid.
- 54:44If they may enforce singles, I think that's a stupid mandate,
- 54:47but less rules is better. Rules.
- 54:50A lot of semi finals do, I'm just saying.
- 54:55OK, I'll give this workout ABI. Like that workout?
- 54:59I think it'll be a really fun race.
- 55:01I think it'll be way more fun than people think when you look
- 55:04at it. I don't believe you, Dallon.
- 55:10He's definitely in Del Mar already.
- 55:16Event 36 rounds for time 9 dead lifts, 6 power cleans, 3
- 55:20shouldered overhead. I don't I don't like that they
- 55:24wrote shoulder but then abbreviated overhead and then
- 55:29the 12 minute time cap. The weights are two 25155.
- 55:35So it's heavy, it's heavy. It is.
- 55:37In favor of touch and go. No, let's touch and go or it's
- 55:41dumb. Yeah, that's that plain got him
- 55:43again. Dallin is trying to get other
- 55:45competitors to do touch and go is what he's doing.
- 55:48That is exactly, that's exactly that's what he's doing.
- 55:53Dallin did singles on 95 LB snatches.
- 55:58Just saying. You have.
- 56:00To do this next workout is kind of sucks.
- 56:04It would be hard to do. I would not.
- 56:05Want to do this? Not not the workout, it's just
- 56:08it would workouts fine. I just don't.
- 56:09I bet that just looks disgusting.
- 56:11It's heavy. You're going to see a lot of
- 56:14failing going on. No, I don't think you'll see
- 56:16failing. I just think people will go
- 56:17slow. Oh, you're out of your mind?
- 56:20The only thing what, It's not hanging.
- 56:22It can be from the floor. Yeah, you're just going to pull
- 56:25up this workout on your phone and you're going to be like, Oh
- 56:27my gosh, everyone's doing power cleans.
- 56:29That's where all the time is going to be spent.
- 56:31Everybody's doing power plants. It'll be.
- 56:33I think it'll be 6 singles into three shoulder overhead.
- 56:36John, did you do water Palooza? It was on a team or?
- 56:40Well, I know it was a qualifier for Water Palooza and I know
- 56:45that the teammates had to do either double DT or heavy DT.
- 56:49Oh no, that was yeah, I, I was individual that year.
- 56:52Dude, DT sucks. That's just terrible.
- 56:54I hate, I hate that DT exists. I I had a teammate.
- 56:59Yeah, I think it's awesome. He was super strong and he was
- 57:02super, he was super jacked. And I think he was like, he was
- 57:06so jacked that he would occlude his own muscles like he was that
- 57:10kind of jacked. And so anyway, I did double DT
- 57:14'cause he was stronger than me. I finished.
- 57:18I think double DT is so much worse than.
- 57:20Than Oh yeah dude. Oh yeah.
- 57:22Oh yeah. Well, get this.
- 57:24So he his time was terrible. So I had to do heavy DT and then
- 57:31he did double DT and I think like my time was just a little
- 57:34faster on double DT or heavy DT. It was so it was so aggravating
- 57:38that year. I was so mad about that.
- 57:41The level of commitment you show to the sport is just.
- 57:44Amazing. Like for reference, this is DT
- 57:48is my I hate that workout more than any single workout on the
- 57:52planet. I hate, I hate this workout.
- 57:56Wow, you're a you're a great teammate.
- 57:58Yeah. And he said it and I was like, I
- 58:01guess I'll do heavy DT too. That's a hard workout.
- 58:07I think the time caps kind of long, but it's.
- 58:10What do you think? What do you think Fin like a
- 58:12good finish time is? No I agree, I think sub six will
- 58:15win it. Jesus I mean dude like down and
- 58:19those guys are so fit now. Like whenever I try and guess
- 58:21their time I just got to like shave 10%.
- 58:24No, Down and James will both be sub 6.
- 58:26Tudor will probably be sub 6. I think John, I think John's
- 58:30right. It's yeah, we're going to see
- 58:33times from this and we're going to be like, Oh my gosh.
- 58:36I mean, it's going to be disgusting.
- 58:40So definitely watch the the the last heat on this, probably not
- 58:44the first couple. I agree that the time cap is
- 58:47long but I think I think they want everybody to do to do it
- 58:50all. So like if this is heavy for
- 58:52you, you still have to get through all of the volume.
- 58:56It is only the 3rd event. Yeah, and I, I love that
- 59:00philosophy, but I just wish competitions held that
- 59:03philosophy across all the workouts is like, let's
- 59:06accumulate the volumes of fatigue same across the board or
- 59:09let's not let's have competitive time caps like let's just pick
- 59:13like I'm fine with either or. It's just when competitions
- 59:16don't do pick a stance, that's when I have problems.
- 59:21Or they just have no idea what they're doing and that's what.
- 59:24They do with and. I love an aggressive time cap
- 59:29personally. Depends on the workout.
- 59:32The bench press? The bench press workout that you
- 59:34that you hated so much? That was a good aggressive time
- 59:36cap. Yeah, I think 70% of the field
- 59:41should finish. If I if I was running a
- 59:43competition to this level, I think most should finish.
- 59:47I think it's OK with wanting a workout though.
- 59:49We're like no the time caps written so everybody finishes.
- 59:53I know like Jr. does every year the first 3 workouts and crash
- 59:57the time caps are freaking. Me and Tyler could finish.
- 1:00:01But. Thank you Jr.
- 1:00:02And then the last three workouts are like, no, you got to be
- 1:00:06pretty fit to finish these. That's a cool, interesting
- 1:00:08approach. Workout 4, John.
- 1:00:12Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry, sorry, forgot I'm the.
- 1:00:16We spent 45 minutes on Mayhem 2023.
- 1:00:20That was Haley. I didn't do it. 5 rounds for
- 1:00:26time, 8 bar muscle UPS, 4681012 overhead squats and a 50 foot
- 1:00:33handstand walk. 8 The overhead squat IS185135 for the women. 1.
- 1:00:41It's just normal. There's no there's no ramp or
- 1:00:43pirouettes. Or yeah, it's just normal.
- 1:00:45I, I maybe there's a pure O at, but there is, there's not going
- 1:00:49to be a ramp. I think we're going to see some
- 1:00:52failing again here. Yeah, but yeah, I mean, there's
- 1:00:56going to be a lot of shoulder fatigue, but it's going to be
- 1:00:58nothing like Gwen. This is all shoulders.
- 1:01:02It's all shoulders. It's.
- 1:01:03Great, and you're blown up after DT.
- 1:01:07This is classic, classic competitive CrossFit right here.
- 1:01:12Just how well can you go overhead and maintain?
- 1:01:17That's what it is. That's huge part of our sport.
- 1:01:21I like this workout. It's it just looking at it for
- 1:01:27me doing it, I would I would like to do this workout.
- 1:01:29I think I what's the time cap? No time cap there's.
- 1:01:33Going to be a longer time cap I bet.
- 1:01:35I bet it's well, I I just don't know the last time cap was an
- 1:01:39eternity and now this one is I don't know.
- 1:01:43I would say, I would say the better times are going to be
- 1:01:46somewhere around, yeah, they're going to down and then they're
- 1:01:51going to go faster. This too dude.
- 1:01:53So 30 seconds and then 30 seconds on each handstand walk,
- 1:01:56maybe a little longer on the handstand walk and then overhead
- 1:02:01squad's going to be like. They're going to be under 7 1/2.
- 1:02:04Yeah, that's crazy. That's going to really hurt if
- 1:02:08you're. The fastest times.
- 1:02:10The fastest times. Oh.
- 1:02:11Guys, I have something super interesting for you.
- 1:02:14No, you sit on it. After Legends, No no, I'm going
- 1:02:17to save it, but man it's wild. Event.
- 1:02:20Five. Yeah, we don't.
- 1:02:22Know so far, so so far. Oh, so it's the final is is all
- 1:02:26we got? Now.
- 1:02:27No, no, no. We, we, we have this.
- 1:02:28We have this. Let me.
- 1:02:29It's on Instagram. Yeah, Yeah, I got you.
- 1:02:31Yeah. Good place for it.
- 1:02:36So there's 0 running in this entire competition. 0 running.
- 1:02:40I think there was running but then they have a sponsor that
- 1:02:44has a special bike and a ski and they need to get that in somehow
- 1:02:48and and they took out running. Are they?
- 1:02:51I don't know. If.
- 1:02:52They took it out. This is a problem.
- 1:02:55Yeah, go ahead. We're going to be, we're, we're
- 1:03:00trying to qualify the fittest people on earth and we're
- 1:03:03they're not going to run. Yep.
- 1:03:05Like what, what, what, what, what is going on?
- 1:03:08We're going to do overhead squat, handstand walk, bar
- 1:03:10muscle up, sandbag cleans, but we're not going to do the most
- 1:03:13basic human movement ever. You're not going to run.
- 1:03:18Make them run up and down the floor.
- 1:03:20Make them do shuttle runs. Make them freaking run.
- 1:03:22This is, this is absurd. This is so insane.
- 1:03:25I mean, I like, This is why I didn't talk about this as an
- 1:03:27athlete, like as an athlete, this would be a dream
- 1:03:31competition for me to go to. I suck at running, so I just can
- 1:03:34just like go out on the floor and like throw a sandbag and a
- 1:03:36barbell around that favors me greatly.
- 1:03:41But no running That's that's absurd.
- 1:03:44And then like my. It it is it's it's it's.
- 1:03:46Absurd. I don't think there's any
- 1:03:48running in Copa Sur or Far East either.
- 1:03:51So there is what, 30% or 40 percent?
- 1:03:5740% of the field will not be tested and running before they
- 1:04:00go to the games. Like make him run up and down
- 1:04:03the floor, make him do 100 foot shallow runs.
- 1:04:06Like an excuse to say we don't have an air runner or we don't
- 1:04:11have a loop outside our venue is just like, it's not a reason.
- 1:04:16It's not a reason. It's just, I don't know.
- 1:04:19I I need to stop talking about this before I say something I
- 1:04:23don't want to. 60 toes bar, 50 wall balls, 40 box jump overs.
- 1:04:28We don't know the height. I'm guessing it's 2420 with it
- 1:04:34being 4030 Devils presses at probably 50s.
- 1:04:40Yeah. Did you say it's Yeah.
- 1:04:44You think it's probably a heavy wall ball.
- 1:04:47You think it's 30? 30 a 30 LB wall ball.
- 1:04:53I hope so. I hope it's a 30 LB wall ball.
- 1:04:56I mean, knowing, knowing the yeah, going off the pattern of
- 1:05:00this program and just thinking heavier is better.
- 1:05:03John John is a fan I think. Well here's my thing, the £30
- 1:05:08wall ball. I don't think a lot of
- 1:05:10separation can be made on 60 toes to bar at the top end a £30
- 1:05:16wall ball like they're gonna do 50 unbroken, but it's gonna be
- 1:05:20very do I want to like it's or or like I?
- 1:05:24Actually do 30 LB ball. Yeah, I think there are people
- 1:05:27who try to do 50 unbroken. I didn't get the smart ones,
- 1:05:30won't I? I would see Dallin or James
- 1:05:35breaking, but it is just enough that you're like, do I want to
- 1:05:40go for 50 unbroken where 20 LB. I think most of them do 50
- 1:05:44unbroken. I think, I think I would rather
- 1:05:48watch this event with a 20 LB ball because then they're going
- 1:05:51to try and go fast on the box and then they're just going to
- 1:05:54move faster the rest of the workout.
- 1:05:55I would rather watch it with the 20 LB ball.
- 1:05:57I I and that's what I was going to say.
- 1:05:58I'd rather 20 Yeah. Because it's just like just,
- 1:06:02it's just going to create fatigue, but they're going to
- 1:06:04move fast and like. I hear you.
- 1:06:07I just hate when there's movements in a workout and it's
- 1:06:10like just to be there and it it just doesn't feel like there's a
- 1:06:15reason for it. But I don't want to sound like
- 1:06:18Tyler, so I'm with y'all. Thank you.
- 1:06:23What's? The purpose of this workout?
- 1:06:26I know what the purpose of this one is, it tests too many
- 1:06:28things. Hey, Tyler, can you what do we
- 1:06:33have left? We're going to talk legend.
- 1:06:36We're going to talk legends for a little bit longer, and then
- 1:06:38what else? And then we're going to talk
- 1:06:39about Dave. OK, I would love to talk about a
- 1:06:43controversial subject before Dave.
- 1:06:46Does it apply to legends? No, no, we'll finish our
- 1:06:51legends. Talk, John.
- 1:06:52Let's hear it. Let's go, John.
- 1:06:53No, no, no. No, no, let's finish Legends and
- 1:06:56then we'll go to John and then we'll go to Dave and then.
- 1:06:58We'll can you send me, can you send me a link?
- 1:07:00I'm going to bring, I'm going to bring on somebody for this.
- 1:07:03You have the you have the link here so.
- 1:07:07Like can you text it to me? Yeah.
- 1:07:09OK. Thank you.
- 1:07:10Thank you. This wasn't this wasn't planned
- 1:07:14either guys. But because of freaking stupid
- 1:07:16people on the Internet, this is what we have to do.
- 1:07:19If you, Brent, I'm not going to send you this if you bring Grant
- 1:07:22on. No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:07:23You. It's nobody that you would think
- 1:07:26about, but it's it'll be good. It'll be good, I promise.
- 1:07:30OK, no, but it's nothing that gets you, Grant.
- 1:07:34It's just like whatever rant you were about to go on.
- 1:07:36I don't want to hear it. We're streaming on Flo Elite.
- 1:07:44Dude, brother. Susan, I know you're in the
- 1:07:48comments. I need to understand the
- 1:07:51details. At this point, I'm just confused
- 1:07:53because for all intents and purposes, Flo Elite was dead.
- 1:07:58Their Last Post was about Matt Frazier's retirement on their
- 1:08:02website and now all the sudden you know they're posting we're
- 1:08:05back and then they're doing 3 different semifinals, Magic City
- 1:08:10Legends and Norcal Classic sevens.
- 1:08:15It's still on sevens channel somehow.
- 1:08:18Maybe all all the talk I see is all the events will be covered,
- 1:08:24all of the divisions will be covered, but covered means
- 1:08:26nothing to me. What does that mean?
- 1:08:32Nothing, Nobody. How do we feel about paying for
- 1:08:37a live stream? I don't know if I'm, I don't
- 1:08:43know. I don't know if I would pay for
- 1:08:45a live stream. Dude, this is but you know,
- 1:08:47it's, I think Magic City is worse.
- 1:08:51You're extorting old people. Well, of the people who need to
- 1:08:55be extorted. I mean, they're the extortable
- 1:08:58ones. It's better than extorting the
- 1:09:00teens. That's fair, I guess.
- 1:09:05But no, I, I, I, it just, it kills viewership.
- 1:09:10Just kills viewership. Absolutely.
- 1:09:13And then on top of that, there is nothing to go to.
- 1:09:16Like if something awesome happens, right?
- 1:09:19Gwen was awesome. Guess what?
- 1:09:20Hey, everybody, go to Mayhem's YouTube and watch Gwen.
- 1:09:25It was awesome. Hey everybody, you can't watch
- 1:09:29what was so cool on Legends. I paid for it.
- 1:09:32Let me tell you how cool it was. James and Dallan were neck and
- 1:09:37neck, and then James flipped off Dallan and then Dallan like
- 1:09:41cleaned a barbell and then threw it on James's head.
- 1:09:44But you can't see it because you'd have to pay for it to see
- 1:09:49it. I'm out here paying athletes so
- 1:09:50their grandparents can watch. But but you know what?
- 1:09:53I'm saying I didn't. Say her.
- 1:09:55Like if I'm anything, I'm not saying something awesome will
- 1:09:58happen, especially like I don't think the programming lends
- 1:10:00something awesome to happen. But but you know, like any
- 1:10:03really cool race or whatever, like we can't even talk about it
- 1:10:08like because. Everybody will be like, what do
- 1:10:10you? Mean I didn't see it.
- 1:10:12I mean it's. Like, I just don't know where
- 1:10:14the money's going to come from. Like, I don't know.
- 1:10:16Like, it does suck, but at the same time, who's supposed to pay
- 1:10:19for that? Is HQ supposed to pay for that?
- 1:10:20Like, do they have the money? I mean, it's better than
- 1:10:22nothing, right? But I I don't know.
- 1:10:25Who's it's? It's definitely better than
- 1:10:27nothing. Maybe.
- 1:10:29I mean, Hiller might say a post produce thing might be good, but
- 1:10:37yeah, this is kind of how I feel about it.
- 1:10:38Your mom and I are think are the same person.
- 1:10:40I don't care about paying, but I don't want to sign up for a
- 1:10:42monthly subscription. That's kind of how I feel, like
- 1:10:45I'm going to pay it, but like the fact that it's a monthly.
- 1:10:47Subscription payment and then cancel it the same day and then
- 1:10:50like it should go off after the month, right?
- 1:10:53I, I just, I hate everything about that.
- 1:10:57I mean, how much is it? 132999. 29, it's $30, it's $30,
- 1:11:05dude, $5 cheaper and you can be on JY Barbell Fitness OK if you
- 1:11:11want, If you want CrossFit programming with a little bit of
- 1:11:15a strength bias to it 'cause we want to get stronger, but we
- 1:11:18still want to do fitness $25.00 a month.
- 1:11:21First two weeks of free jybarbell.com go get it.
- 1:11:25How do you define 30? Dollars to legends.
- 1:11:29It's really $15. It's really $15 if you, if you,
- 1:11:36if you do Norcal also 'cause it's in the same month, right?
- 1:11:41Especially if it starts on the day that you pay.
- 1:11:44For your subscribe Norcal's the end of May.
- 1:11:48All right, here we. Go.
- 1:11:48So it's almost. I don't think it's an exact
- 1:11:50calendar month. Well, hold on, are we, are we
- 1:11:52done with? Legends you can leave me in the.
- 1:11:54Studio No, no, no. We're going to get your opinion
- 1:11:57now. Do I get to talk legends?
- 1:11:59Yeah. Welcome to the Welcome to the
- 1:12:01floor, Jamie. How do you feel about Legends
- 1:12:05programming? I don't like it.
- 1:12:07I think it's I think it's probably fine for the elites.
- 1:12:10I think it's probably even fine for 3539.
- 1:12:12The scaling of the gymnastics, it's over overly scaled the
- 1:12:17gymnastics for the older crowds and I, I just don't understand.
- 1:12:22Do. Let me, let me.
- 1:12:23Look at this. Let me look at.
- 1:12:26This they dropped our chesta bar from 20 to 30.
- 1:12:28They took 2 bus bar muscle ups away like and that's a 10 like I
- 1:12:33don't know. They're just it's, it's just not
- 1:12:35balanced. And Ben has to be watching the
- 1:12:37show going. By and I agree Jamie, I agree.
- 1:12:40I think I think it's slants way too much towards power output
- 1:12:44lifting, especially with five workouts.
- 1:12:47You there's there's in the long event is all machines.
- 1:12:50There's no running, there's a sandbag workout, there's a
- 1:12:53barbell cycling workout. Like I 100% agree with you, and
- 1:12:58we usually don't agree on on programming things and at that.
- 1:13:03So I that means it's probably true, right?
- 1:13:06So you're you're upset the gymnastics are not as high
- 1:13:10volume as you want? Correct.
- 1:13:12I don't. Well, it's got to balance out.
- 1:13:14But she's saying that it's already got a power slant.
- 1:13:17And for masters, people like John, you're looking at this
- 1:13:19because you're an elite. No, I'm looking at the.
- 1:13:21That's not true. I'm looking at the sandbag
- 1:13:23weights. The sandbag weights drop a lot
- 1:13:24after 55. Don't you put words in my.
- 1:13:26Mouth after 50. 5 after 55 from 40 to 55.
- 1:13:32She's speaking. She's speaking about her.
- 1:13:35The 40, I'm in the 40, yeah. She's she's 40 to 44.
- 1:13:39The fact that like they took away 1010 pull ups on each side
- 1:13:42but but only 5 sandbag cleans like make it 252525 like at
- 1:13:47least make it comparable. Yeah, because it's, it already
- 1:13:50has a power slant, right. So, so like, I agree, Jamie,
- 1:13:55it's OK. If I I know I can agree sandbag
- 1:13:58cleans should have been should have been 20, I can agree with
- 1:14:00that. Now reason why I wanted to bring
- 1:14:04Jamie on. I just love the way that's
- 1:14:06worded. So within within within 10
- 1:14:11minutes of our conversation about Hayley Adams, so.
- 1:14:17I I swear to God, if we go back to Hayley, I'll shut the show
- 1:14:20off. No, no, no, dude.
- 1:14:21No, no, no, no, no. Somebody.
- 1:14:22Can we see it? Can we see it?
- 1:14:24You know I'm gonna read it out loud.
- 1:14:25Oh, it's already been. True, not attacking is.
- 1:14:28All I saw is not. Attacking.
- 1:14:29I'm just bummed as a woman in CrossFit this this this this got
- 1:14:34posted to me. Thought I would jump into this
- 1:14:36podcast live for the first time and I'm truly bummed after what
- 1:14:41Hayley Adams very publicly went through her weight is your
- 1:14:45discussion this is more aimed at at John Young CrossFit.
- 1:14:49That's me. Man, that was a bummer,
- 1:14:52especially coming from somebody who has dealt with body stuff
- 1:14:55myself. You might as well have brought
- 1:14:57up her BMI. That's how foolish it sounded.
- 1:15:01OK, I'm not going to say her name because I don't, I don't, I
- 1:15:03don't want to. That's not.
- 1:15:05I think that's a mean thing to do.
- 1:15:06Well, I thought it might have been Jamie for a minute and I
- 1:15:08was like. No, no.
- 1:15:10That's why though. That's why I wanted to bring
- 1:15:12Jamie on because I would love a woman's perspective and I'm not
- 1:15:17a woman. I don't want to speak for women,
- 1:15:19but we literally, we literally are in a sport where this is
- 1:15:24what your body can do. Your weight effects that.
- 1:15:29And I don't really think we talked about Hayley Adams
- 1:15:31weight. We talked about her body
- 1:15:33composition. I agree.
- 1:15:34I actually said she doesn't weigh any different like you're
- 1:15:38looking like I I y'all are the ones that said she was bigger,
- 1:15:41but I don't We're in a if you can't handle what your your body
- 1:15:46being talked about in a sport where that's it's what your body
- 1:15:49can do, then it might not be the sport for you.
- 1:15:53Well, time out, because this is always what?
- 1:15:57I want to let Jamie say I want to let go.
- 1:15:59Ahead. I just want to fit this in real
- 1:16:00quick. It's always what gets me pissed
- 1:16:02because it's like Mr. Woods and I were talking about how big
- 1:16:06Haley was in a positive manner. Like we say big as in a good
- 1:16:10thing, right? And if if I call my say, my wife
- 1:16:13looks bigger, like she's stoked about it.
- 1:16:15It's their interpretation of the word big that is impressing this
- 1:16:19whole value structure over top of this thing.
- 1:16:22Also like to say, she said it was aimed at me and I feel like
- 1:16:25I'm the only one who wasn't talking about that.
- 1:16:27Like I said, it's like repeatedly.
- 1:16:31I think you guys just, I was listening then and I feel like
- 1:16:33you just commented on her looking more jacked big.
- 1:16:37I guess. Yes, some people wouldn't you
- 1:16:39know, I've had comments like that made about me too.
- 1:16:41Like like I've had men say my biceps are bigger than theirs
- 1:16:44and like, it's not really what you want to hear as a woman.
- 1:16:47That's not really how we want our bodies necessarily talk
- 1:16:50about. But you're right, we are in a
- 1:16:51sport where you know, our bodies are our machines and and we do
- 1:16:57show them off. And I I find it weird.
- 1:16:58I get it. Haley's always talked about this
- 1:17:00and like doesn't has asked people to not talk about her
- 1:17:03body. However, it's kind of like the
- 1:17:05Danny Spiegel thing and like she put up a post right before like
- 1:17:08I'm ready and she's got. That mean that mean?
- 1:17:12From your mom is just great. I when you make a post that
- 1:17:18highlights your body like all bets are off, I'm sorry people
- 1:17:22are going to talk about your body.
- 1:17:25And we, and we're not even like it's not even a sexual deal
- 1:17:29either. Like like some people go to
- 1:17:31we're talking about performance, like it's performance.
- 1:17:36And like I, I just can't believe somebody gets that ate up.
- 1:17:40Like we're, this is what we're on here doing 24/7.
- 1:17:45We say a man looks jacked. Nobody thinks two cents or I
- 1:17:49I've said little European voice multiple times.
- 1:17:53And. Nobody cares.
- 1:17:55Colin Bosshard has messaged me. Be like, watch what I'm about to
- 1:17:58do, right? Like, get over yourself.
- 1:18:03Good grief. It's so wild.
- 1:18:07Are you the one who messaged me, Standy?
- 1:18:10Because you know good and well that I am in the right on this.
- 1:18:14Yeah, we talked there. There I got puffy nipples.
- 1:18:18Here we. Go.
- 1:18:18Here we go. My teeth are crooked, right?
- 1:18:21I got a freaking hernia scar that looks ridiculous on my
- 1:18:25belly button. Now, Oh my gosh.
- 1:18:28Like we're in the sport of what your.
- 1:18:31Body can do. I didn't sign up for this.
- 1:18:34I didn't sign up for. This.
- 1:18:35It's too late, John. You're in it.
- 1:18:37John Wood on the show, I thought we.
- 1:18:39Were talking about muscle mass and I thought muscle mass Tell
- 1:18:42me. About Haley Adams phosphogenic
- 1:18:44system, John, go get it. Yeah, she has the.
- 1:18:50Promise. Some women just don't want to.
- 1:18:53They just don't that to them, that's a negative thing.
- 1:18:55Bigger jacked like and who knows how she thinks so, but I totally
- 1:19:01agree. Like we're in a sport where your
- 1:19:04body is on display and it's going to get talked.
- 1:19:07About now OK, but what I wanted to ask you more.
- 1:19:11I'm sorry, I got passionate. I got I get it heated in the
- 1:19:13moment. No.
- 1:19:17Does it bother you, Jamie, if people talk about you online but
- 1:19:21it's from completely performance related?
- 1:19:26Or are you like like I'm in, I'm This is why I'm doing I'm doing
- 1:19:31this and they're talking about the sport and I'm in the sport.
- 1:19:36Yeah, I mean, I like I post videos of me working out clips
- 1:19:40and stuff. Like I if I sure I've had like
- 1:19:45tops where they're like almost nude color and it's and people
- 1:19:49are like, are you, do you even have clothes on?
- 1:19:50And like, I mean, it is what it is.
- 1:19:52Like, you know, if I made the post, it's out there to be
- 1:19:55talked about. It is what it is.
- 1:19:57I wouldn't put it out there if I didn't want to be.
- 1:20:00For the record, I did not know if Jamie would agree with me or
- 1:20:02not before I pulled her up here. It wasn't like I preempted this.
- 1:20:06I just I. I said, I said, do you want to
- 1:20:09talk about a controversial topic?
- 1:20:10And she said yes. Anyway, if the person is still
- 1:20:14watching, I would just like to say get over yourself.
- 1:20:17And this is literally what we're on the podcast to do, to talk
- 1:20:21about what your body can do and wait effects that.
- 1:20:24All right? It just does.
- 1:20:28Jamie, are you're going? I fly.
- 1:20:30Up tomorrow morning. I'm packing right now.
- 1:20:32So I was in the middle of packing and watching you.
- 1:20:33Guys, I'm sorry for interrupting.
- 1:20:34You Jamie, OK, we're. Expecting a win?
- 1:20:39You saw the programming and you know me, right?
- 1:20:42So no. Yes.
- 1:20:43So yes. Are you going to go to
- 1:20:46Manchester City next year? I we can't do that now.
- 1:20:49If I could switch, I would. No, I'm saying, I'm saying next
- 1:20:52year will. You.
- 1:20:52Oh yeah, I, I probably will be done with Legends competitions I
- 1:20:56already like. I haven't gone to a Legends comp
- 1:20:58since like 23 because I don't and I should have known better
- 1:21:01when I signed up for this, but I I thought having the elites
- 1:21:05there and HQ possibly having some oversight, I was like
- 1:21:09optimistic that there'd be some balanced programming.
- 1:21:13Yeah, when I when they said there was only five, I was
- 1:21:15surprised. Yes.
- 1:21:17Because if you're going to have a slant, you need it.
- 1:21:20And four for 55 plus 4 events. Yeah.
- 1:21:25What? That's that's kind of crazy.
- 1:21:27I didn't know that. Well, Jamie, I hope you.
- 1:21:31I hope you shock yourself, because I hope so.
- 1:21:33Too. You are one of the fittest 40 or
- 1:21:3644 year olds in the world. Like maybe you can overcome the
- 1:21:39programming. I'm going to try my best.
- 1:21:41Do you know, do you know for sure there are women that are
- 1:21:43better than you at this, at this stuff?
- 1:21:44I mean, Carly's going. She's the one who won the last
- 1:21:46two years, so. I've been her though.
- 1:21:51I there's a girl who beat me on the semifinals or the
- 1:21:54quarterfinals this this year. Other than that, no, I don't
- 1:21:56really know. OK.
- 1:21:57Well, there's three spots. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:21:59Yeah, we'll see. Yeah.
- 1:22:01Yeah, I hope you do. I hope you end up second.
- 1:22:04No, you weren't first because of the program, OK.
- 1:22:07Thank you. Did you want to talk about
- 1:22:09anything, Jamie, before we move on, we're going to talk about
- 1:22:11Dave. You want to talk about Dave?
- 1:22:13No, I'm good. I'm going to keep packing.
- 1:22:14Thanks for bringing me on. Good luck, Jamie.
- 1:22:16Thank you, Jamie. I appreciate.
- 1:22:17Good luck, Jamie. Thanks, James.
- 1:22:19Jamie. Thanks.
- 1:22:20Good luck. Bye.
- 1:22:23I'm sorry, I didn't want three men talking about a woman's
- 1:22:25body. Yeah, it was private, Private
- 1:22:28right approach. You see?
- 1:22:28You see what I'm saying? That I.
- 1:22:30Yes, we didn't do anything wrong.
- 1:22:31Dude. I I feel bad, like I feel bad
- 1:22:33now. No, I don't feel bad.
- 1:22:35Why do you feel bad? That's how they get you.
- 1:22:38John, if you're. Going to be in the game, you
- 1:22:41can't feel bad, you can't feel bad.
- 1:22:43I feel bad, but John, I was, I was trying to like, I'm just so
- 1:22:47checked out of reality. And so like in the CrossFit
- 1:22:49world, like me talking about a girl being bigger and
- 1:22:51attributing muscle mass is just like such a good thing in my
- 1:22:54head. And yeah, yeah, not to.
- 1:22:57Everyone. Dude, I was going to say that
- 1:22:59like. You'll never make everybody
- 1:23:00happy 1st off and if you ever feel bad, I want you to go look
- 1:23:04at the strongman clip. Strong woman.
- 1:23:09I've watched them. It's amazing, I love watching
- 1:23:11it. No, no, no ours.
- 1:23:13Have you seen ours? Yours.
- 1:23:16Yeah, No, no, you haven't seen it.
- 1:23:19All right, Well, I've had an entire community go to tell me
- 1:23:21to go kill myself. So I, I, I promise, I promise
- 1:23:27you're, you'll be, you'll be fine.
- 1:23:31It only lasts for like 2 days and.
- 1:23:32Then they yeah. You got to get, you got to get
- 1:23:34used to it. I've had stuff that has lasted
- 1:23:36like a week but. That's well, yeah.
- 1:23:38I mean it's. It's it's, it's you know, you,
- 1:23:41you got to have a stronger backbone if you're going to you
- 1:23:44can't feel. That for sure.
- 1:23:47Let's move on. That is not what I said.
- 1:23:49That is not. I think we should bring the clip
- 1:23:53up, Tyler, honestly. No, all right, we're done
- 1:23:55playing that clip. It's been abolished.
- 1:23:56All right, all right, go ahead, Go ahead.
- 1:23:57Let's. All right, Dave.
- 1:23:58This is this is kind of good. We need to fill a spin spot and
- 1:24:03Mr. Woods was my first choice. But also we wanted to talk about
- 1:24:07Dave being on Savons and then that plays really well with some
- 1:24:12of the stuff Mr. Woods has been talking about.
- 1:24:14So it's. You know.
- 1:24:16Mr. Woods. You're good.
- 1:24:20You're good. I'm I'm going to make it longer
- 1:24:21every time. Mr. Woodsman.
- 1:24:23This. Was a classic.
- 1:24:25I forgot I even said that man. Don't, don't, don't cross fat,
- 1:24:30we put we. Haven't, I've never we.
- 1:24:32I didn't get any backlash from that one at all.
- 1:24:35But. Dave went on sevens, had a
- 1:24:38candid conversation about all things CrossFit philosophy, the
- 1:24:41CrossFit Games, and then Hiller made a rebuttal video to that.
- 1:24:52And it did kind of seem like a, and this is my opinion, it kind
- 1:24:57of seemed like a, what is it the presidents do whenever they go
- 1:25:01to bait? It's like a, you know, an
- 1:25:02opportunity to lobby for him being CEO.
- 1:25:06Yeah, for sure. That's what he's been doing.
- 1:25:09And he brought up a lot of kind of crazy points, one of them
- 1:25:14being like semi finals should be two days or less.
- 1:25:21I thought you kind of retracted that.
- 1:25:23That was like from the exhibition stuff, right?
- 1:25:25We'll. Start there.
- 1:25:26I, I think that that got, so I think for me when I heard that,
- 1:25:31like I went on red alert because I'm like, I, I side with you,
- 1:25:34John or Mr. Wood, that I don't side with you on the go to local
- 1:25:40gyms thing because I just don't think there's enough local gyms
- 1:25:43that are that big. Like the, the case that we
- 1:25:47should make semifinals in affiliates and use Mayhem as the
- 1:25:53example is a terrible argument. They at the last minute decided
- 1:25:58that they were going to have a live stream because the live
- 1:26:00stream cost $250,000 last year. And they, yeah.
- 1:26:06And they decided to take the burden on for themselves, right?
- 1:26:11That would be amazing. I did something, yeah.
- 1:26:14OK wait I I'm confused on so I started talking about this and I
- 1:26:17like made a clip saying he got his idea for me which very well
- 1:26:20could be wrong but I did start. Doesn't matter.
- 1:26:24The facts don't matter. It doesn't matter if you got his
- 1:26:28idea for me or someone else, but like why I don't?
- 1:26:31I still don't understand why can we not have semifinals in big
- 1:26:35affiliates Disregard like the mayhem model like that's a huge
- 1:26:39elaborate floor plan like. We well, I just don't want.
- 1:26:42We. Don't on the mayhem point.
- 1:26:44I just don't want to use them as the example.
- 1:26:46They have a very. Close knit.
- 1:26:48It's like them. That no one can do what they
- 1:26:50did. Absolutely agree.
- 1:26:51Absolutely agree. They're one-of-a-kind it.
- 1:26:54It's like, it's like looking at Arnold and being like, well, you
- 1:26:56can look like that. It's like, no, you can't like
- 1:26:58you. You just can't look like that
- 1:27:00and you can't do what Mayhem did.
- 1:27:02I I use the example in what I've talked about.
- 1:27:05This is the big gym in Colorado from Kevin Schutz owns Koda.
- 1:27:09Like he doesn't have like the most insane equipment.
- 1:27:12It's a really nice gym, but more normal and it's really big and
- 1:27:15he holds a competition every year and it's like someone like
- 1:27:18him. And they're great.
- 1:27:20They're great. Yeah, he he knows what he's
- 1:27:22doing. Like they could hold a
- 1:27:23semifinal. And I believe there's people
- 1:27:26roughly in every state that have the acreage of a gym that could
- 1:27:30hold a semifinal. Yes.
- 1:27:31We're not going to have a giant go WOD symbol on the floor.
- 1:27:34Like who cares? Like, let's just bring athletes
- 1:27:37together and have them compete. Well, that's the.
- 1:27:40Thing that we should start at is like everybody wants to go back
- 1:27:43to the old regionals and, and I don't think that that's feasible
- 1:27:46in a couple ways. I do think it's people think
- 1:27:49it's way more expensive than it actually is or it is is turned
- 1:27:52out to be. You know, I use this example a
- 1:27:54couple weeks ago, it used to be like $1 million for each
- 1:27:57regional and now it's costing more like $300,000.
- 1:28:00And it's like, OK, the expense is not what it used to be.
- 1:28:04But the other thing is, is people like want that.
- 1:28:07When we say we want to go back to regionals, they're like, you
- 1:28:09can't, It's, it's too much. And it's like, no, we have to,
- 1:28:12we have to walk our way back. Now where I'll meet you in the
- 1:28:15middle is like local high schools or local colleges,
- 1:28:19smaller colleges can do this. They could.
- 1:28:22Hold on, hold on, hold on. I don't so why?
- 1:28:27Why wouldn't having a semi finals in large gyms like Kevin
- 1:28:30Shoots and Coda? Why would that not work?
- 1:28:32I don't. Understand to me it just goes
- 1:28:33like you want more people to come and watch in vendors and
- 1:28:35all that stuff. Where are they going to go,
- 1:28:37dude? He's got a massive parking lot.
- 1:28:39It all works. This is what I'm.
- 1:28:40Saying it's like it would be like crash, it would be like
- 1:28:42crash people would do. It I think Crash is an anomaly.
- 1:28:46Why are we worried about where people are going to park?
- 1:28:48Like if that's the biggest concern, I'm not worried about.
- 1:28:50Where people are going to park, I just think like you need it to
- 1:28:54not feel absolutely claustrophobic as far as like
- 1:28:57just logistics of moving around the.
- 1:28:59Space. Dude.
- 1:29:00Be like what the vibe is. The vibe is better.
- 1:29:03Here's an example. At Waterpalooza, when they were
- 1:29:05back at Bayfront, people were on top of each other and I feel
- 1:29:09like the vibe at Bayfront because people thought.
- 1:29:12Of each other. Was kind of cool and then now
- 1:29:16we're at the beach and like everyone's spread out and it's
- 1:29:19just not quite the same. It's because we're on top of
- 1:29:21each other and that's. Kind of what's cool on top of
- 1:29:25each other at Bayfront is a little bit different than on top
- 1:29:27of each other at a CrossFit gym. I I'm I'm so on John's side of
- 1:29:31this. You can't say I'm wrong.
- 1:29:35I'm not, I'm not saying you're wrong.
- 1:29:37I think if if you're basketball games, you're saying the problem
- 1:29:42is too many people will go. That's a great their.
- 1:29:45Their gym is super small. That's a phenomenal issue to
- 1:29:48have. That's a.
- 1:29:49Phenomenal issue. We currently do not have that
- 1:29:52issue well. Exactly.
- 1:29:55Maybe it's a good start. Very far away from me, like
- 1:29:57let's let's get to that issue that.
- 1:29:59Because if you, if you did that and then you're like, hey, we
- 1:30:02had way too many. We we have to get a larger
- 1:30:04facility. Then you can start talking about
- 1:30:05the high schools and the local, the local colleges and different
- 1:30:08things like that, that that's how you can start doing it.
- 1:30:10I don't want to set up a situation.
- 1:30:12I think we'd Crossfit's done a horrible job.
- 1:30:14When they originally did sanctionals, they were just
- 1:30:16like, here you go. There was no like there was no
- 1:30:19barriers on anything. There was very little oversight.
- 1:30:23And I think they set the sanctionals up to fail, right?
- 1:30:27They set that whole season. I thought it was a great idea.
- 1:30:29They just didn't dole it out correctly, right?
- 1:30:32And I don't want to make the same mistake where we say, OK,
- 1:30:35we're going to bring regionals back.
- 1:30:36They're going to be in local affiliates.
- 1:30:38Here you go. And we have some situation
- 1:30:39where, yes, John, like there's a lot of people there, but then
- 1:30:43it's like, I don't want to ever be there again because it was a
- 1:30:46madhouse and it wasn't orchestrated well.
- 1:30:48Does that make sense? Like I don't want to set us up
- 1:30:51for failure. And that's, I mean, The thing
- 1:30:53is, what I'm trying to propose is, is there going to be
- 1:30:58malfunctions with some programming?
- 1:31:00Probably. Is there going to be some chaos?
- 1:31:03Absolutely. There's going to be a lot of
- 1:31:05things that don't go perfectly well.
- 1:31:07But the most important part about figuring this out is
- 1:31:10getting more people, more athletes going to semifinals 1
- 1:31:14and 2, is getting the community more involved.
- 1:31:17And yes, the programming probably won't be ideal.
- 1:31:19There will be problems that arise, but like I'm willing to
- 1:31:22sacrifice some of those things to have community events like
- 1:31:26that in a local setting with a higher representation of
- 1:31:28athletes like I, I just, and you're absolutely right.
- 1:31:31There's things aren't going to go perfectly smooth.
- 1:31:33Yes, but I was willing to take the I.
- 1:31:35Think, I think a little bit of the difference too, and I don't
- 1:31:38know how you would, I guess it just wouldn't matter honestly.
- 1:31:42But is that CrossFit sent their own media out to every regional
- 1:31:47and. Or back in the.
- 1:31:49No. Back in the day, it's a a little
- 1:31:50bit of like, why it seem, I think why it seems impossible
- 1:31:54because now they don't send anybody out to anything, yes.
- 1:31:57But now we have freaking Marbelle.
- 1:31:59'S been doing it, Savon doing it.
- 1:32:00It's like outside people and I guess Savon was not doing it
- 1:32:03back in the day, but you have literally outside entities that
- 1:32:09broadcast it. You know what I mean?
- 1:32:12Or cover it, right? I think that might be harder,
- 1:32:18but I think that problem does not matter if you have a whole
- 1:32:21bunch of these at affiliates. The only way that that matters,
- 1:32:25well, the affiliates thing could present an issue, but the only
- 1:32:29way that that matters and the way it's solved is kind of what
- 1:32:33they're doing now where you repost the stream on CrossFit.
- 1:32:37Maybe you would partner with CrossFit?
- 1:32:39You need to have. Under the guise of CrossFit.
- 1:32:41You need to have something that looks good because you are
- 1:32:43carrying the CrossFit banner, so to speak, and you'd like need to
- 1:32:46present really well. But besides that, like I think
- 1:32:51it that's how you solve that issue is like you just hosted on
- 1:32:54like you, you do what it you share the YouTube stream where
- 1:32:58it's like it's on sev ONS, but it's also on H QS YouTube stream
- 1:33:02something like that. What other points did he bring
- 1:33:05up? Woods.
- 1:33:06I know you're or Wood, Mr. Wood. I mean, like you're in the
- 1:33:12Hiller's video of I mean, I watch, I didn't watch the entire
- 1:33:15interview with Castro, but I did watch Hiller's video.
- 1:33:17I mean, dude, Hiller made a lot of really good points.
- 1:33:23I mean, he made a point in there.
- 1:33:25He's talking about, I forgot how he aligned it.
- 1:33:29It was something along the lines of like he was questioning.
- 1:33:32He goes is our field really that much stronger?
- 1:33:35And they started talking about how much Fraser infroning or
- 1:33:39overhead squatting back in 2015 at that event.
- 1:33:43What was it? It was just a hundred 400.
- 1:33:46It's 2014 games. They all him and Fraser and
- 1:33:50Hackenbrook. They hit 377, Hackenbrook hit
- 1:33:53376. They all went for 400 and they
- 1:33:55all failed. How many would hit 380 now?
- 1:33:59No, nobody's doing that now. I mean, like nobody's doing 400
- 1:34:03now. Like a couple might hit 3, the
- 1:34:06same number. It's the same.
- 1:34:09It's the same for that I mean. He just, I mean, he just made.
- 1:34:12A good one I think of snatching dude like 315 was was the most
- 1:34:16anybody snatched back then and you had a few guys who could do
- 1:34:19300. Spencer Handel hit 300 and
- 1:34:22freaking 2013. So and now we have more people
- 1:34:28that can hit 300. But the top end number, it's
- 1:34:32still around 3:15. It's 3 Gee hit 3:30 at a a world
- 1:34:37fitness project. Gee's a little bit of an
- 1:34:39anomaly, right? What are the three fifteens are
- 1:34:43there? There's Gee and Tudor and then
- 1:34:45everybody else around that three O 5 mark and we have like about
- 1:34:4910 of those guys. It's not.
- 1:34:52So I mean I was thinking about this.
- 1:34:54So here's another question for you.
- 1:34:55So if they repeated. People that make the games.
- 1:34:59If they repeated that ranch trail run that Castro made him
- 1:35:03freaking turn around and go run again.
- 1:35:05So let's say they repeat that. Would Justin Maderos run faster?
- 1:35:10I think he'd run about the same. Would you run faster or slower?
- 1:35:16I I don't I think it would be about the same.
- 1:35:19He's a lot bigger, yeah. I think it would be the same,
- 1:35:22but he's a lot bigger. I think it could be the same,
- 1:35:24yeah. So he's got better overall just
- 1:35:27but our numbers are. Really, I mean, I I the top, the
- 1:35:30top of the top, I don't think has gotten any better.
- 1:35:33I think Matt Fraser wins every CrossFit 2020.
- 1:35:35Matt Fraser wins every CrossFit Games that has been on since.
- 1:35:39I fully believe that easily, easily the the IT would not be
- 1:35:44by 200 points, right? Like you take this CrossFit
- 1:35:48Games, Hopper would be within 50 points of them, but Matt would
- 1:35:51still win. I've.
- 1:35:52Some more guys have caught up, but it's it's the the ceiling is
- 1:35:56still. There, the depth of field has
- 1:35:58been brought up a ton. I don't think we know that.
- 1:36:01I don't think we know that they would be that close to Frazier.
- 1:36:05I do dude. Frazier just wiped the field for
- 1:36:08so long. 2025, specifically 2024, no. 2025 specifically had
- 1:36:1315 machines in it, as you've alluded to Matt Frazier's 5 foot
- 1:36:176 John. So like, yes, I, I, I trust me,
- 1:36:22I've done it. He, I don't, I know exactly
- 1:36:24where Matt Fraser would be. He still wins by like 54 points.
- 1:36:27Yeah, sure, you're probably right.
- 1:36:29I'm going to get in trouble for this one. 2024 a different
- 1:36:32story, it's by 100 points. 20/24/2023 is by 120. 2020 2 is
- 1:36:37back down to 90. John and I were talking about
- 1:36:40this. I'm working on a video of
- 1:36:42myself. Good.
- 1:36:51Go ahead, Tyler. John and I were talking about
- 1:36:53this. OK, I, I'm, I'm telling you, the
- 1:36:56next director of the CrossFit Games.
- 1:37:02Do they need to have trained athletes, and I'm talking like
- 1:37:05affiliate athletes at some point in the recent past, yes or no?
- 1:37:13No, but no, here you go. Absolutely not.
- 1:37:15But they need to be able to have a conversation and they need to
- 1:37:18be able to understand where athletes thresholds are.
- 1:37:21OK. All right.
- 1:37:22I like that qualifier because that's really.
- 1:37:24What I'm if they can't, if they can't talk, if they can't sit
- 1:37:27down and talk with someone about what they're trying to do and
- 1:37:30what they're going for and what they're testing, they have
- 1:37:32absolutely zero business doing it.
- 1:37:37I think if you reference some heavy Isabel from 2013 and use
- 1:37:42that as your reference point comparing it to 2025, you have
- 1:37:45no idea what you're talking about.
- 1:37:47I mean, dude, we need to be more objective about this.
- 1:37:50We can be more objective about this.
- 1:37:52It's. Yeah, Dave said that.
- 1:37:54They've said that and I don't think he, I don't think he will
- 1:37:57be. Dave's absolutely not.
- 1:37:59What are you talking about, Dave?
- 1:38:00Dave's had a decade to be more objective about this.
- 1:38:03No, I'm saying he said that exact same thing.
- 1:38:05We can literally do this and and he's not wrong when he says that
- 1:38:10he won't and he doesn't. Know he doesn't know.
- 1:38:14Like he, yeah, absolutely. And he's had an opportunity.
- 1:38:17It's like what you just said is you were like, oh, well, Frazier
- 1:38:20would be up this many points in this year, this year, he'd be up
- 1:38:22this many points. It's like, why are we having
- 1:38:24such a large deviation every year?
- 1:38:26Why? Let's make this a little bit
- 1:38:29more objective. There's such a big deviation and
- 1:38:32it it shouldn't I I don't believe.
- 1:38:33Deviation on what? So why?
- 1:38:36OK, explain why Frazier would have won by a smaller margin in
- 1:38:412024 than 2025. Other way around, but 2024 was
- 1:38:47all robic capacity. If anything he had gotten weaker
- 1:38:52a little bit. There's no strength tested.
- 1:38:54He probably would have won the clean ladder.
- 1:38:56Every running workout he would be top five.
- 1:38:59So it was a different test is what I'm saying.
- 1:39:01It was different. Right.
- 1:39:03What are you, you saying the test should be more different or
- 1:39:08not as different, more objective?
- 1:39:14Explain. Yeah, yeah, qualify that.
- 1:39:17I think you can test. I think the whole idea of
- 1:39:21constantly varied in like the whole unknown and unknowable is
- 1:39:25dumb. That's not what I'm saying.
- 1:39:29You want friendly Fran tested. OK, here you go.
- 1:39:32I think workouts. Have you tested?
- 1:39:34No, I think time domains need to be replicated on a year to year
- 1:39:40basis. So getting a data point on a
- 1:39:42marathon row, I'm all for that. I'm all for working in that time
- 1:39:46domain. What I'm not all for is doing
- 1:39:49that sporadically and not consistently getting that one
- 1:39:54data point, that one point year and then a few years later we're
- 1:39:56only gonna test up to this time domain.
- 1:39:59It's like we we need to like get a little bit more cohesive in.
- 1:40:04What we're testing, and that's what I'm saying, is let's make
- 1:40:06it more objective. He wants reason.
- 1:40:08Behind why we program what we program.
- 1:40:10And I'm all for a marathon. I, I got it, I got it.
- 1:40:13So you're, you can, you're fine. You want to test it in different
- 1:40:16ways, but there are parameters and how we're testing.
- 1:40:18Fitness. Yeah.
- 1:40:19And I can make it this really simple for you.
- 1:40:21The marathon row is the best example.
- 1:40:23Athletes aren't training in that time domain.
- 1:40:26They just don't. They don't train the adaptations
- 1:40:28that you get for a marathon row. So giving athletes at the
- 1:40:32CrossFit game of marathon row, that's theatrics.
- 1:40:35It's absolutely theatrics, we know.
- 1:40:38That. Why?
- 1:40:39Because of if you would have done a 10K time trial, I bet the
- 1:40:43leaderboard would have been so close to identical.
- 1:40:45It's theatrics, and I'm OK with some level of theatrics, but I'm
- 1:40:48not OK when it when you're trying to have athletes do
- 1:40:52something they're simply not prepared to do.
- 1:40:54I, I, I see I would I would push.
- 1:40:56Back on. That because hold.
- 1:40:58On the Gwen thing was exactly that, and you were all for it.
- 1:41:01I I'm a little bit. I'm a little bit.
- 1:41:03Twisted Gwen trying. To get at do do you?
- 1:41:05Are you with me? Tyler Alright, so I'll push back
- 1:41:08because when we don't ask them to do that for so long and and
- 1:41:12we are, we are supposed to get broad adaptations across the
- 1:41:17whole spectrum. Asking them to do a marathon row
- 1:41:19is well within bounds to me. Now are they prepared?
- 1:41:22No, maybe. And I think that's kind of the
- 1:41:24point is like you guys should be training longer pieces.
- 1:41:27So we should do it every year, we should test it every year.
- 1:41:29I don't think we should do it every year, but.
- 1:41:32Why? The marathon row, particularly
- 1:41:34because. It's boring, but something
- 1:41:36that's something that's. Super.
- 1:41:37An hour. An hour.
- 1:41:38Class, do you put the capital at that?
- 1:41:40No, because the capital wasn't an hour.
- 1:41:42It was like what, 30 something minutes?
- 1:41:43At the games I think there should be an hour and a half
- 1:41:45event every year. Wait, you just said we shouldn't
- 1:41:48do it? I said we shouldn't do it
- 1:41:50sporadically. OK, OK, I'm OK.
- 1:41:54You want. Time domains to be fixed but.
- 1:41:55Something around an hour, I think like is appropriate.
- 1:41:59You want time domains to be fixed.
- 1:42:01Yeah. And you can test, you can test
- 1:42:05everything in different varieties and that's the unknown
- 1:42:08unknowable aspect of it. But time domain should be fixed.
- 1:42:11At least to a higher degree than what we have now.
- 1:42:14John, how long was Pendleton? I don't, I don't.
- 1:42:16I don't disagree Pendleton was over 2 hours.
- 1:42:19I don't. Think he's correct.
- 1:42:21Here's the other one. Is the same goes on the other
- 1:42:24end of the spectrum that I made a horrible argument for, but the
- 1:42:28observation is still there. Is we used to test multiple
- 1:42:33events that would be like under 60 seconds.
- 1:42:35Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, that's, that's where I
- 1:42:37was going to like, you should have two, two tests shorter than
- 1:42:40two minutes, one test longer than an hour, and then one at 22
- 1:42:46at 12/2 at 8:00. But you're speaking.
- 1:42:49About verified balance, but but like every year you hit those
- 1:42:54time domains every single year and you can do that however you
- 1:42:57want to do it. Like one of them can be a 500
- 1:43:00meter row, one of them can be a 4 yard dash.
- 1:43:02That's a start for the conversation is looking at it
- 1:43:05from time domains. I am going to be talking about
- 1:43:08this. I'm having a podcast tomorrow
- 1:43:11about this I exact topic. He's in Chicago.
- 1:43:15He has a P. HD in.
- 1:43:17Italy. I'm just kidding.
- 1:43:19And we're talking about this exact conversation.
- 1:43:21I'm recording it tomorrow morning and he has a solution to
- 1:43:24this. My second point of this, which I
- 1:43:27think, Mr. Wood, you defined better as an understanding of
- 1:43:33how athletes are training and what they're capable of, because
- 1:43:35I also said trains athletes, has trained as an athlete.
- 1:43:40Really, those two points encompass the same thing.
- 1:43:43You understand what athletes are capable of because like Seth
- 1:43:48Page is a good example of this. Seth has never been able to do
- 1:43:52what elite athletes do, but he understands what they're capable
- 1:43:55of, right? Yes, I would agree.
- 1:43:59Seth. Seth knows what he's doing.
- 1:44:00Yeah, my other point was watches other events, Norcal, Classic
- 1:44:08Mayhem, Waterpalooza, Dubai, whatever.
- 1:44:13Do you think that somebody in the games director role should
- 1:44:16be doing that? No, I think what I originally
- 1:44:25said I would say still holds true.
- 1:44:27I mean, if someone they need to have a pulse on what athletes
- 1:44:30can do and that comes with having a pulse on what athletes
- 1:44:32can do comes with watching them. So to, so I guess yes, I mean
- 1:44:37you kind of have to watch them to some degree to know what
- 1:44:40they're capable of, so. So Dave doesn't qualify.
- 1:44:44I made three points. It's really it's just two, which
- 1:44:47is understand what athletes are capable of.
- 1:44:49And the point of understanding other events is like, you get a
- 1:44:51taste for what the fans like and you get a taste for what
- 1:44:54athletes are being asked to do across the year, right?
- 1:44:58Dave doesn't qualify for either of those and he like brags about
- 1:45:04it. He brags about not watching
- 1:45:09anything. I don't like that.
- 1:45:12You know my opinion about this, You know, my, I've been very,
- 1:45:14I've been very vocal about this. I mean, my question is like,
- 1:45:19let's like, let's slip this conversation around.
- 1:45:21I just like, why? Why should he be there?
- 1:45:25Like let's let's try and like walk through this with the
- 1:45:27people that genuinely believe like this is direction we go.
- 1:45:30So what? What is going through their
- 1:45:32head? That he's been there for a
- 1:45:33really long time, that he knows how?
- 1:45:35To I would say. Why should he stay That's.
- 1:45:38Another way to think I would, I would say the go to would be
- 1:45:41like he did direct the games like in 14151617, like it got to
- 1:45:51the golden years and they would say because of him, right.
- 1:45:56And then Greg killed it and now we're trying to get back and
- 1:45:59that's and like, why would we stir, stir the ship if he's the
- 1:46:03one that got us there? I, I, I would say that that
- 1:46:06would be their response. I think he has no idea what
- 1:46:11athletes today can do and I think he.
- 1:46:18And your big point on this was, was heavy, Isabel, right?
- 1:46:21Well, no, that was towards he thinks they're all fitter than
- 1:46:25Fraser. And I'm like that that I guess
- 1:46:27that points a little bit to it. But my point is just the last
- 1:46:29two years of the games, the Taco Bellification of programming.
- 1:46:34That was killing dude. That was so good.
- 1:46:36Because the last two years at the Games, it just feels like
- 1:46:41we're just working out. And I thought 2025 was better
- 1:46:43than 2024 programming wise, but it's just you don't see things
- 1:46:50like Gwen, you don't see things like climbing snail or like,
- 1:46:54like people just failing. You know that scene in the
- 1:46:58documentary where Tia and we didn't know she was Tia at the
- 1:47:01time, but has her head up against the snail and just the
- 1:47:04arms drop because she can't get it to move.
- 1:47:08We don't see those things anymore.
- 1:47:11And that's a part of it. That's that's how you start
- 1:47:13rooting for people, right? You also don't see people, I
- 1:47:18mean, like John said the last two years, send it on an an
- 1:47:21assault bike and then hammer a freaking block that we all hate.
- 1:47:25Like, like it's just, it's just the creativeness is gone that I
- 1:47:30think used to be there. But a lot of that is that I
- 1:47:34don't think he knows what athletes are capable of at
- 1:47:36least. And if he does, he's not
- 1:47:38programming like he does. And you shouldn't make
- 1:47:41statements like you did about Matt Frazier if you do.
- 1:47:45And maybe and I'm not, I'm not blind to, I'm not blind to he is
- 1:47:50hamstrung. He did have to be inside for
- 1:47:54every workout. It does make things harder,
- 1:47:57right? And we don't know what he's
- 1:48:00operating under. We don't know how, what
- 1:48:04circumstances he's operating under.
- 1:48:07I'm going off of things he has said and then programming that
- 1:48:11is not super challenging like or doesn't appear to be.
- 1:48:16I guess you can bring up the pegboard, but I don't think that
- 1:48:19was the workout that did that. And that's what I'm going off
- 1:48:25of. What he what, how he talks.
- 1:48:27He doesn't know what athletes are capable of.
- 1:48:29I don't care what circumstances he's under, because this sport
- 1:48:35is the ultimate expression of our entire ecosystem.
- 1:48:42And if you, if you don't nail it every year and I'm talking an A
- 1:48:49or AB plus we've talked about that in the past like you let
- 1:48:52you let the entire ecosystem down.
- 1:48:55I do think the programmer of the Games should be regarded as the
- 1:48:59best programmer in the world or one of the best programmers in
- 1:49:03the world. If you asked how would you, how
- 1:49:06would CrossFit, who the best programmer in the world is, I
- 1:49:10don't think they would say Dave Castro.
- 1:49:12I think they would because they don't know who good programmers
- 1:49:14are they. Don't even know.
- 1:49:15No, no, 100. A hundred people that like are
- 1:49:18in the space in the space. Coaches OK, so are there coaches
- 1:49:23and. Coaches, athletes, fans, like,
- 1:49:26like us, right? Like are just people who are in
- 1:49:29this really in it asking who the best program in the world is.
- 1:49:32I don't think they're going to say Dave Castro.
- 1:49:35You think they would? John No, no, absolutely no.
- 1:49:39I think they just need to be able, they just need to be able
- 1:49:41to say what they're doing and they just need to be able to say
- 1:49:43what they're testing. They need to be able to say what
- 1:49:45physiological system they're going after.
- 1:49:48And I don't Dave, that was. Great.
- 1:49:51I I Hey, you did great. I I did want to make a point
- 1:49:55about this. We have the whole moniker
- 1:49:57observable, measurable, repeatable.
- 1:49:59The problem is we hardly repeat things and we never measure
- 1:50:05them. You can't measure them against
- 1:50:09each other when they're always different.
- 1:50:12Yeah, But then that's where like my comment section is, is when
- 1:50:16you measure them alone. It's too specialized of a test.
- 1:50:20You can't do it alone. And that's why I posted Greg,
- 1:50:23Greg's first original testing framework.
- 1:50:26And that's all I freaking did. It was all isolated. 4 things
- 1:50:29were isolated. And I'm like, I, I, I firmly
- 1:50:32believe that is absolutely direction we have to go.
- 1:50:35Absolutely. Maybe not single modality
- 1:50:39testing, but much more targeted in terms of what we're testing.
- 1:50:45And that's like my reference to talk about.
- 1:50:47We have so many workouts where it's like we're testing all 10
- 1:50:50general physical fitness skills, We're testing all three energy
- 1:50:52systems all in this entire workout.
- 1:50:54It's like go. So we're not doing anything.
- 1:50:57We're really not getting a good representation of anything.
- 1:51:00We're just finding out how OK everything is.
- 1:51:03We need to get some data points just like imagine the curtain.
- 1:51:06I want a data point of high up on that curtain to see how it
- 1:51:10links. And we're just getting like
- 1:51:12these like low mid data points representing each system.
- 1:51:14So like we really don't, we really don't know because as
- 1:51:17we've just established, we've talked about the beginning and
- 1:51:20we've talked about the very end. We, we just haven't.
- 1:51:24No, Jeanette. Everything is in game.
- 1:51:27Everything is in the very middle.
- 1:51:29Everything's in the middle of that curtain distribution and
- 1:51:32from more capacity across broad time model domain.
- 1:51:36And aside from the games, I'm, I think the opening has been
- 1:51:41trashed for the last like five years. 2023. 2023 was the last
- 1:51:46time we had a good open and I know he wasn't programming that
- 1:51:49and that. And I don't think it's hard.
- 1:51:51I don't think it's hard to program for the masses and still
- 1:51:54make it challenging and they refuse to do it.
- 1:51:57And quarterfinals I thought was really bad too.
- 1:52:00And I don't think I'm alone in that.
- 1:52:01We don't know what semi finals are like.
- 1:52:04It's just, it's, it's just a lot is stacking up.
- 1:52:08I and I promise you, I, you know, we might get a little bit
- 1:52:12of hate from this from people who are going to back Dave.
- 1:52:16I've tried to be super, super like benefit of the doubt, like
- 1:52:23Tyler was gone way before me, like a lot of people were gone
- 1:52:28way before me that I talked to about Dave and I was like, well,
- 1:52:33you know, he's got a lot of stuff.
- 1:52:34Like, you know, I'm OK with it being a safe year.
- 1:52:37I'm OK with, you know, the open always being a just aerobic
- 1:52:41people. But when you say why that's I
- 1:52:44see, I disagree with that. Why is no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:52:46I'm not like I've I've gotten to be OK, like I'm accepting it.
- 1:52:51Because you're sick of arguing with people.
- 1:52:52Correct, correct. Like what?
- 1:52:54That's a great point. It's like, why is like, I've
- 1:52:56gone in multiple conversations with people about this and
- 1:52:58they're like, Oh well, the open's not a complete test of
- 1:53:00fitness. I'm like then then what is it?
- 1:53:02What it should be? It absolutely should.
- 1:53:04Be. Where where I draw the line
- 1:53:07though, John and why I'm like, I'm like, well, I'm just going
- 1:53:09to say that I don't think Dave is good anymore because I didn't
- 1:53:12want to say that. I don't know what he's operating
- 1:53:14under, right? And I don't like talking bad
- 1:53:16about people if I don't know they're fool compass.
- 1:53:19Now, if I do know your full compass and I want to talk bad
- 1:53:21about you, I will absolutely. Unless you're a strong woman and
- 1:53:25then I'll just say. But it's when he's explanation
- 1:53:32of the open is Colton Merton's won the open.
- 1:53:35The strongest guy in the back squat won the open.
- 1:53:39So it doesn't it's not just testing aerobic capacity when
- 1:53:43that's his explanation. He's had so many explanations
- 1:53:47that are just so fundamentally incorrect.
- 1:53:52I'll back you here. That's.
- 1:53:54Where that's where like, I'm just so gone.
- 1:53:56When he said he had checked, he someone asked him, did you watch
- 1:54:01Mayhem this weekend? He's like, no, I watched the
- 1:54:03leaderboard. What the hell does?
- 1:54:05The leaderboard, What are you doing?
- 1:54:06What does the leaderboard mean if you don't know what the
- 1:54:08events are alone and like like that means nothing.
- 1:54:12I'm just looking at names on a paper.
- 1:54:14They, you know, day-to-day it could mean anything.
- 1:54:18He did ran a 5K the first day. I mean one thing.
- 1:54:21I don't understand that really. I really.
- 1:54:23Don't want let's let's move on after after this because all
- 1:54:27we're doing is bashing day. But I guess it's not even
- 1:54:29productive. We're just.
- 1:54:31His and this is the culture that needs to change and this is what
- 1:54:34it needs to become. Whoever it is, is someone goes
- 1:54:36in there and it needs to be a much more open source format on
- 1:54:41the how they're testing, on the objective metrics on what
- 1:54:45they're doing. They need to be able to take in
- 1:54:47outside information. So like when people who know
- 1:54:51what they're talking about or like you're not testing this,
- 1:54:54you're not testing this, there needs to be a pathway going into
- 1:54:58that circle and they need to be able to be receptive about it.
- 1:55:01Well, a cash is that I well it's not working.
- 1:55:07It's not working. That face was so sullen.
- 1:55:10And that's what that is what it is.
- 1:55:12I don't know that I Then why are we here?
- 1:55:14Then why are we here? I guess I just want I I better
- 1:55:17define open source because I can totally make a case for like I'm
- 1:55:24part of. It to be able to talk to other
- 1:55:27coaches in the space about what is being tested.
- 1:55:31Well, I think they would say they're doing that.
- 1:55:33They're doing it would Chuck Carswell, and they're doing it
- 1:55:35with Baz and they're doing. It where can I?
- 1:55:36Where can I hear what's being tested?
- 1:55:38Where can I go listen to the like how they're testing and the
- 1:55:40objectivity of it? So what's, what's it called?
- 1:55:44An anecdote and part of a staff council at work and it's just
- 1:55:49everybody voicing their opinions about everything and guess what
- 1:55:51gets done in that Staff Council 0 and it's like I, I understand
- 1:55:57what you mean but like you open that you open that and it's just
- 1:56:01like Jesus Christ like nothing gets heard because.
- 1:56:04Everything's being said. That's fair.
- 1:56:05Great argument, great argument. But then my counter to that
- 1:56:07would be what new blood has been injected into that think tank in
- 1:56:13there? Yeah, that's a good.
- 1:56:15Argument we. Called it a think tank.
- 1:56:18I mean, that's in theory what it's it.
- 1:56:21Hits home a little bit though for.
- 1:56:22Me like there's been no fresh. New thoughts.
- 1:56:26There's no new, there's nothing new.
- 1:56:27And that's why it's stale. That's why we're not going
- 1:56:29because it's been the same, and I said this in a post, it's been
- 1:56:31the same. It's been the same four people,
- 1:56:35the same four people sitting in A room.
- 1:56:38I'm probably saying I shouldn't be serious.
- 1:56:39I mean, I've written this out in my post and it's true.
- 1:56:41It's what it is. I mean, am I wrong?
- 1:56:43Has there been significantly new thought going into this?
- 1:56:46Well, like you say about open source, we don't know if there
- 1:56:48has been, even if there was. I know more that you're not
- 1:56:52wrong. This is what I told people.
- 1:56:53I know more about the bombings and freaking Iran than I do the
- 1:56:57thought that goes into programming CrossFit events.
- 1:57:00Watch it wrong wrong podcast. Yeah, we we left for that exact
- 1:57:05reason, John. So I don't want to have to kick
- 1:57:09you off of the. Pot No, I get, I get what you
- 1:57:11mean. I get what you mean.
- 1:57:13Your points valid. I, you know, to kind of meet you
- 1:57:18a little bit, what we define what the world's fittest person
- 1:57:24is, right? We do, but we have no real
- 1:57:27definition of what that means. Like we can't.
- 1:57:29We are going to. It's coming.
- 1:57:31It's coming. We're going to.
- 1:57:33They, we can't say like what their backs, what their back
- 1:57:37squad is, what their 5K time is, what you know, what their health
- 1:57:40metrics look like. We we and like that's great
- 1:57:43marketing that we can show to no one because we don't have it.
- 1:57:46It's coming. So anyway.
- 1:57:49Last, and we will I this is this is where I'm going.
- 1:57:54What's your Instagram handle, Mr. Wood, John.
- 1:57:56Wood, John. Wood 32.
- 1:57:58John Wood, 32 Follow John Wood, 32, on Instagram.
- 1:58:01I'm going to be talking about all of this.
- 1:58:04And after you do that, go to jybarbell.com.
- 1:58:06Get yourself the best OH. My gosh.
- 1:58:08Strength bias programming in the CrossFit world.
- 1:58:13John, John, what do you snatch? Right now.
- 1:58:16Yeah. Want to snatch more?
- 1:58:18If I walked into a gym right now and if I couldn't hit.
- 1:58:22Or or What's your all time best? What's your all time?
- 1:58:24Best. I've hit 300 right now I cannot.
- 1:58:27I don't think I could hit 2. 70 John John, you want 315?
- 1:58:32No, I actually don't. I don't want what?
- 1:58:36I don't just. 'Cause you know how bad your
- 1:58:38body's going to hurt. I'm.
- 1:58:39Just letting you know I can make it happen for you.
- 1:58:41That's it. I don't need.
- 1:58:42I don't want to do. I don't want it.
- 1:58:44Last couple minutes. Oh, I got you.
- 1:58:46I got you. How high was that pole that you
- 1:58:48tried to jump over? 50 inches.
- 1:58:52You want to jump over 60? I don't think your barbell
- 1:58:55program is going. To come, Hey, one-on-one, man,
- 1:58:58one-on-one. Doesn't just work for that
- 1:59:00plyometrics. Talk that one, that one's that
- 1:59:02one's $100 though. That was $100 last couple
- 1:59:10minutes. We are going to the crash
- 1:59:12crescendo this weekend. We are doing the live stream.
- 1:59:15It will be for free. It will be.
- 1:59:19For free, yeah. John, me and Spin, we'll be
- 1:59:22having a grand old time. I'm sure there'll be great
- 1:59:23interviews, great events to watch.
- 1:59:27So TuneIn live to that. Yeah, crowd, it's going to be a
- 1:59:32ball. If you don't feel like paying
- 1:59:35for legends, we're going to. It's going to basically going to
- 1:59:38be like what we just did on this show, but in real time, real
- 1:59:41life, and we will be commenting on what bodies are doing, male
- 1:59:46or female or in between. Ambiguous.
- 1:59:50If you're into, you know, if you're into some stuff.
- 1:59:53It would be. It'd be a great time.
- 1:59:55I'm sure John and I will do at least some of the workouts.
- 2:00:00I can't. I'm going to do something I so.
- 2:00:05If you want to wait till Saturday, I'm down to run the
- 2:00:08trail, but I want to wait till Saturday.
- 2:00:10I'm interested to see what I feel like, so I'm leaving here
- 2:00:14at 5:00 PM, which means I'll be there around 3:00 AM on Friday.
- 2:00:20He's drive. He's driving through the night.
- 2:00:22And then so I'm wondering, I, I'm wondering if it's going to
- 2:00:25be one of those situations where I just feel like trash or my
- 2:00:28body's in an alarm state. And so it's like I need to work
- 2:00:30out Friday before it catches up to.
- 2:00:32Me. You got to work, yes, work out
- 2:00:35before you hit the fatigue. Crash, yeah.
- 2:00:38If the fatigue hits you, it ain't working out.
- 2:00:40I don't sleep till 10 and just get there at like 6.
- 2:00:45It's it's 9 hours. It's 10 hours with as much
- 2:00:48caffeine as I drink. Yeah.
- 2:00:50I mean like sleep, sleep in the afternoon like a little bit more
- 2:00:53and that way you're closer to the vent.
- 2:00:54You have 4 hours. So we do anything.
- 2:00:56Oh, I'm not sleeping tomorrow, I got to watch a a mongrel all day
- 2:01:00before I leave. Okie Doke.
- 2:01:05Yeah, I'm actually driving. Next week I'll be driving
- 2:01:09through the night from Magic City.
- 2:01:13You guys are busy. Oh, it's just starting.
- 2:01:16Oh dude you have no idea 'cause you throw a grid league in the
- 2:01:19middle of this and I I travel for like 6 straight.
- 2:01:22Weekends Mr. Wood will be at Syndicate.
- 2:01:25I will. I will.
- 2:01:27I think we're planning some stuff, John.
- 2:01:29We haven't told you about it yet.
- 2:01:30Oh, snap. He doesn't know me.
- 2:01:33Yeah, other John, John. You.
- 2:01:36Me and you are planning some stuff.
- 2:01:37Yeah, me and him. Are and some stuff.
- 2:01:38That's what I thought. No, no, no, me and Wood.
- 2:01:41Me and Tyler got stuff. It's not planning for you, John.
- 2:01:44I think we're all three planning and not talking to any of us.
- 2:01:48I'm about to, I was about to post about it like in the next
- 2:01:51few days. Should I wait to post about
- 2:01:53this? Doesn't does it matter?
- 2:01:57No, let's wait. No, wait till after Legends.
- 2:02:00I don't know if I want you to wait till syndicate.
- 2:02:01Like no, no, we'll like we'll have.
- 2:02:03Dude, I got it all late. I got it all laid out.
- 2:02:05It is all ready to go. Like you say, 321 go, I'm ready
- 2:02:08for blast off. No, no, let's John's going.
- 2:02:10To have issues, let me tell you, John's going to have issues.
- 2:02:15Does he know anything? No, he doesn't.
- 2:02:17He doesn't know anything. I will be able to rationalize
- 2:02:20why I precisely picked every single thing so clearly.
- 2:02:26OK. And John will be able to
- 2:02:28irrationally debate you on each one of those top.
- 2:02:32I will. I got.
- 2:02:33I got. No, he's talking about me.
- 2:02:34I'm talking. About.
- 2:02:36Me. I'm proud.
- 2:02:37I'm proud of my work. I'm very proud of my work.
- 2:02:40Why dude? I think.
- 2:02:41I'll be pretty open minded, open source.
- 2:02:43I feel like I'm pretty. Like for stuff that's well done,
- 2:02:46I'm pretty. You're going, I As soon as Woods
- 2:02:50Wood texted me about this, I was like, John's going to hate one
- 2:02:53of these. Oh, I know what he's going to
- 2:02:55hate. I know what he's going to hate.
- 2:02:57And I will. I will.
- 2:02:59We can have an open forum conversation about it and I will
- 2:03:03explain him my rationale and he will come to love.
- 2:03:07It I'm going to tell you right now, I very, I feel like I'm an
- 2:03:09open mind, but if my body, my body can disprove whatever
- 2:03:14you're bringing, that's where it'll, that's where I'll I'll
- 2:03:17stand on. You're going to do great.
- 2:03:20You're going to do. Great.
- 2:03:21Oh, you're going to do great. You're just going to be mad
- 2:03:23about it. But we'll have to wait till
- 2:03:26next. Week Harry Potter, the prisoner
- 2:03:28of. Azkaban stuff is that?
- 2:03:31What? What the heck, I hope.
- 2:03:34So. But I've got reference.
- 2:03:36Yeah, you're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy
- 2:03:39about it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:03:41OK. I'm excited.
- 2:03:42John. I'm excited after after we get
- 2:03:44off, you'll have to tell me about.
- 2:03:45It subscribe to John Wood, 32 on Instagram JY Barbell club and I
- 2:03:51don't have anything you can. I apologize to absolutely
- 2:03:54nobody.
