- Aaron Skinner: It's been well, yeah. Yeah, it's pretty about nine months. Yeah a little over nine months probably like ten months now Who's counting? I'm counting ⁓ It has been awesome. I think the reason I say don't, I honestly think the New Year's resolution thing is like the worst way to start anything because it's such an easy out if you don't go forward with your New Year's resolution, like, I'll do it next year. That'll be my New Year's resolution for next year. And I would do that all the time. ⁓ dude, what it's funny. Do you have any New Year's resolutions that you've like kept ever? Yeah, I have one that I ever stuck to and I don't know why, but it was flossing my teeth. I have no idea why I was like, I'm just gonna start flossing my teeth. And I, that's the only one ever stuck to was flossing my teeth. I don't know why, but that's all the, all the weight loss ones. It's always weight loss, right? Why is it always weight loss? It's never really anything else. I guess it's, it is other things, but I'd say the majority of it is usually like health, right? I got to get my health in check. ⁓ dude. I wish I'd only gained 10 pounds. Yeah, that's, but I guess to get back to your original question was, it wasn't a, it was not a New Year's resolution. It was just, there was the quote that I like, I will have on my tombstone that the guy had, that he said, the DJ Shipley, where he said, it's funny that you say you'll take a bullet for your kids, but you won't lose 40 pounds to be healthier for them. And that was like, that was just like, that got me through so many temptations of like stopping the diet or ⁓ the example I always use is, ⁓ I was at a friend's house, we were having a little UFC party and my buddy brought some pumpkin pie cheesecake, which I absolutely love. But I was kind of in my cut phase where I was just like eating just super duper clean. And he's like, come on man, just have some, it's really good. was like, I know it's really good. I'm just, can't, but in my head, I just kept thinking it's easier to take a bullet. ⁓ It's easier to say, sorry, it's easier to say no to this pumpkin pie cheesecake than it is to take a bullet. So I decided instead of getting shot, I would say no to the pumpkin pie cheesecake. But that was just like one example. I would do that like all the time. Like if anything, any temptation came up, that was the quote that was just, I mean, it lives rent free in my head. all the time or did for a long time. So I think just finding something like that, whatever your actual motivation is, is huge. And then also not having an end date. mean, how many diets do people go on where like, I hit, you know, I've lost 40 pounds, I am done dieting and then they get fat again. Cause I did that, I don't know, 50 times. And so you, I don't know, you can't have an end date for, you can have a goal of what you want to hit, but you can't be like, once you hit this goal, then you can just go off the rails after that. You have to kind of have a plan of what you're going to do. Alex Skinner: struggles like along the way but like what the important thing is don't let the struggle or the roadblock or whatever you want to call it stop you from doing from like continuing to do it yeah so like for example like i think it's awesome that you didn't eat that cheesecake but let's just do the pretend like like what if you did he eats the cheesecake don't self-loathe and be like god i'm such a piece of shit i can't believe that i ate that thing he's just like i made a mistake Aaron Skinner: Yes. Yes. From keep going. Yes, exactly. Yes. What if I did? Yes. Yeah. Yup. Alex Skinner: I'll try better in the future and now I just need to move on and get back to like what I'm doing. That has been incredibly helpful for me. Not just with, I mean, almost everything is health related that like I run into issues with, but like I'll just give an example of like this weekend. This weekend, I haven't had, I haven't had a carb in, no, I'm just kidding, in eight years. What is that from? Is that from the Step Brothers? They're like, oh, I haven't had a carb. But um... Aaron Skinner: In eight years. Yes. It's funny because he's drinking a Heineken and like the other other. Alex Skinner: I haven't had fast food in quite a while and it was a Friday and I was just like, know what? I'm tired. I don't want to make anything. I'm just going to get two cheeseburgers. I got two cheeseburgers, ate them. And then I went, man, thankfully those were inexpensive. I don't feel great afterwards, but in the moment was really, really awesome. Let's just move on. Let's just move on and go about our day. ⁓ Because I think that has been the thing for me where it's not like in my head, like, ⁓ fucking piece of shit. I can't believe you did that. It's just like, you're such a loser. It's more like it's more like self-deprecating, not It's not Walter Goggins. What's that guy's name? David Goggins. It's not David Goggins where I'm just like, ⁓ I'm so terrible. It's just like this little voice that is almost easier to listen to because it's nice. like, ⁓ you're so dumb. But don't listen to that inner voice. Aaron Skinner: ⁓ It's David Goggins. Yeah. Yeah. But that's all it is. But it's, if it is like it is, but it's true. Like you made, I mean, in the grand scheme of things, you made a ⁓ poor choice, but it's not going to derail your whole, your whole kind of plan unless you let it derail your whole plan. And so that's, mean, that's another thing I would run into. Like ⁓ I would, in all my previous attempts to become healthy, There would be a weekend. It's always like some sort of like get together with friends and you just go like balls to the wall and you eat just a ton of food. You always feel miserable and it's always like on a Friday or Saturday and you're and then in your head, you're just like, well, like, you know, I fucked up on on Friday. So I'm going to keep eating crappy the rest of this weekend. And then Monday is when I'm going to start to lock in again. This is why I tell everyone never to start a diet on a Monday. Always start your diet on a Friday. or start, I don't like really calling it a diet, start your health journey on a Friday, because if you can get through that first weekend, because it's always, weekends are always the hardest. If you can get past that first weekend, then the next week's easy, because you can usually lock in during the week. It's the weekends that always get to you for the most part. So if you can get through that first weekend, the next weekend's gonna be easier, the weekend after that's gonna be easier. And the thing about it too, dude, is like, Yeah, I said no to that pumpkin pie cheesecake in that moment because I was doing this like just crazy cut. I'm actually making a video about it. It's whatever. But ⁓ that was only like three months. It just happened to be within that three months where I was like, am just going on a crazy cut. If Saturday, this Saturday comes along and there was pumpkin pie cheesecake, I would have a slice of pumpkin pie cheesecake and I would be fine. So it's not one of those things like you could never eat good food ever again. Cause that's the other thing too is like you have these extremes of I'm only going to eat. Yes. I'm only going to eat salad forever. Like don't have these complete unrealistic expectations of what your future life is going to be. Like, yeah, you're to want some pizza. You're going to want some pasta. want to some desserts. And so for me, I was like, if I could just lock in for these three months, get to that weight that I want to be. which I think I started like 262. I wanted to be at 220. Once I got to 220, I started reintroducing just like some normal foods. And I was able to control what I was eating. So I was still in a deficit. Like my deficit during that cut was like, dude, it was like 1800 calories deficit a day, which is not sustainable. I don't, not a doctor. Any nutritionist watching this is probably gonna be like, that's insane. Don't do that. but it worked for me. So, but once I got to there, I knew I could just start eating normal again. So then my calorie deficit went from like 1800 a day to 500 a day. And then the interesting thing about it was I'm actually at this moment, like I struggle to get my calorie maintenance. Cause like, yeah, I could just go eat a bunch of ice cream. But like you said, Alex, I know I would feel super miserable if I just ate a giant bowl of ice cream. And that's the thing that I think about before I make these decisions like, all right, dude, I know you're gonna get that dopamine hit for what? Five, 10 minutes of like, ⁓ my God, this is so good. But then you're gonna feel miserable, not just like the voice in your head, but just like literally physically miserable for hours. that's another kind of trick that I would use of like just, Remember how crappy you're gonna feel after you eat this. And so that's another thing, because like, I mean, we're getting like food addiction. I think food addiction is a super real thing just because you do get that dopamine hit and it's very, very strong. But yeah, to your point, Alex too, is just like, yeah, you're gonna mess up sometimes and that's fine, but don't let it completely derail your objective. Alex Skinner: I don't think I've ever had long sustained periods. Well actually, that's, what's the word? A long time, like ⁓ six months is usually what I go when I'm incredibly unhealthy. And what I realized is priorities are the most important thing. So prioritizing things. There's a number of reasons that I quit my Aaron Skinner: Like long sustained of what? Alex Skinner: I quit teaching. One, business is going well, other businesses were starting, other things needed additional time. But the other thing that I noticed was like my health took a huge hit while I was a teacher, because I had all of these other things going on that didn't necessarily allow me to. I could have found time, but then it's like, all right, I'm cutting out family time. Or I'm cutting out time for this business or for that business or for this business, et cetera. like, I need to stop this for a myriad of reasons. And then once I got those Aaron Skinner: Mm-hmm. Alex Skinner: hours back that opened up time for business related things. I got to keep my family time and I was now able to take care of myself from like a health standpoint as well. like I think that's really hard to do. it's I had concerns last reservations over it. But now that I have hindsight 2020, I'm absolutely thrilled that I did that because I am much healthier than I mean, I guess we'll find out. Aaron Skinner: ⁓ yeah. Alex Skinner: and I just asked him like, do you eat before? Most people don't. We're playing at 6 a.m. Most people don't eat in the morning. He's like, no, I don't. like, I get like two, I think I said it wrong. I get about like 200 calories of carbs before we play. And that's how I do what I do essentially at this point. So it's only been for like a few months, but and I didn't realize that until I started like doing research. Cause Aaron, like in his thing where like everyone's telling you like carbs are bad, carbs are bad, carbs are bad, carbs are bad. Aaron Skinner: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex Skinner: types of carbs are bad. Sugar, like processed sugar is not the best for you in large doses, et cetera. Although I would love a Dr. Pepper in a long run afterwards. But most people don't do the Dr. Pepper in a long run. usually just do the Dr. Pepper and they don't do anything. But you have to find out. This is my long winded way of saying like, do what's right for you. What's been helping me a lot is like honestly AI. As dumb as this sounds like. I was like, hey, I'm 160 pounds. Aaron Skinner: ⁓ yes. ⁓ no, not dumb at all. Yeah, yeah. Dude, I know we kind of like, we bash on AI a lot, we've never said never use AI, because it's funny that you just said that, because I've been using ChatGPT to run a lot of stuff. Like one of my chat sections is literally just all nutrition stuff. So I might have other things I, know, bounce ideas off or whatever, but it's literally just holding me accountable. And so that was, I had literally the exact same experience. because I track everything that I eat. So I would just send, hey, these are the macros I had yesterday. These are my goals. This is what I want to do. And chat GPT was just like, what the hell are you doing? Like, dude, you need way more carbs. It's like, if you, if you don't have carbs, you go to the gym, you're just wasting time at the gym. was like, whatever chat GPT, you don't know anything. And then doing actual a lot of research and it was like, ⁓ yeah, I guess I do need carbs. If you look at any of these bodybuilders, like these professional bodybuilders, The amount of carbs they eat before they go lift is like insane. They're like, I'm eating 600 grams, 700 grams, 800 grams of carbs every day. I'm like, how are you so strong? And don't do the stupid, you know what I hate? Let me, this is gonna be my soap box. I hate it when people are like, yeah man, if I took them out of steroids they took, I would look exactly like them. No, you wouldn't. You would not look like them at all. And you die an early, a very early death because yeah, you know, take a trend. taking D ball, taking all these like crazy steroids, not great for you, but you still have to put the work in in order to see the results of taking them. There's nothing that you just take and all of a sudden you grow muscles. Man, I wish that, I wish there was, that would be awesome, but that doesn't exist. You still have to put the work on or the work in. So that's, I hate it when people say like, if I took all the stuff that the rock was taking, I would look exactly like the rocks. Like, no, you wouldn't because the rocks go into the gym for like three hours a day. putting in the work, doing everything it needs to do and so are all these bodybuilders. Yeah, you might not have the genetics to, even if you were taking exactly what they were taking and doing exactly what they were doing, your genetics might not make you able to look exactly like them, but you would look a lot better, but you still have to put the work in. There's no real cheap shot that you can take that's gonna put muscle on you. That's just, it's just not how it works. So it pisses me off when people say that. No. Alex Skinner: Even like, this is gonna sound so bad, but like, think about Ponzi schemes. Like, terrible, a great way of stealing money from people if you ever want to steal money from people. But you still have to put so much work into convincing people to give you their money, and then convince them that their money is growing when it's not. this isn't me advocating for that. It's more along the ways of like, yeah, it's more just a reminder of like, those people that you're talking about Aaron Skinner: Go start a Ponzi scheme. Exactly. Yeah. Haters. Alex Skinner: You have the mentality of like anybody. I could, I could do that. And yet you never do. So really the important thing is what my student taught me forever ago was like, you just gotta wake up and go do that mile. Have a plan. If you don't stick to the plan perfectly, it's fine, but just make sure that you're doing something. And that's where I like that you call it a journey to Aaron. Like think about any movie or any, like I'm thinking of like the Lord of the Rings because that's like a legitimate journey. Frodo takes off to take the ring to Rivendale. Aaron Skinner: Like a hero's journey. Yeah. Alex Skinner: And he accomplishes that goal. So like think of it this way, like I want to lose 20 pounds. Great. I have now lost 20 pounds. Now I have to take the ring to the, to the whatchamacallit gate. I don't know. I'm making up shit right now. Uh, we have to like, I I'm not, I'm not that big of a nerd. I have to get to, I have to get to the wherever the scary dead faces are looking up. I have to get to the marshlands. Now I have to do that. All right, cool. Now that's you doing a, a diet plan where it's just like, all right, I need this amount of food, this amount of that. Aaron Skinner: Yeah Ha! Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, well, it's funny you say that too, because I literally like originally I was like, I wanna weigh 185 pounds. Well, I mean, also don't get me started the whole BMI thing. I'm still considered overweight, even though I'm like 200 pounds and I got a DEXA scan. I'm not gonna show it, because I think it has personal information on it, but it's right there. And it was 9.7 % body fat, which is like insane. And it's just like, but I'm still. According to BMI, I'm still fat. It's like, I just remember to hear like the Michael Jordan thing, or just like, I, well, it just, whatever. There was something I remember a long time ago where Michael Jordan was considered overweight, just according to BMI. But to your point, so I want, I like, I gotta get to where I'm not considered overweight on the BMI. So for me, it was like 170 pounds. I was like, dude, I'm gonna be really small if I'm 170 pounds. So I was like, I'll do like, 185, that should still be good. But as I'm talking to chat GBT, we got a great relationship. It's like, you should not drop that much weight. That's gonna, you're gonna sacrifice a lot of muscle, a lot of this, a lot of that. But the whole point of this is like, just like you said, the goals can change. And dude, what do we preach constantly on this channel for businesses? Cause primarily we do business stuff. It's have an SOP. Like you need to have your SOP for your health journey. So it shouldn't just be like, I guess I'll do this and I guess I'll do that. Like map it all out. Like I know exactly what I'm gonna work out. I know how long it's gonna take. I know exactly what I'm gonna eat. There's no, once you take all the guessing out, it becomes so much easier. And so you... Like I could tell somebody exactly what I eat every day, exactly how I work out every day. And that might not work for a lot of people, but find out what works for you. Find out what you like. Like after the gym, I had rice cakes and some peanut butter on top and a protein shake. Like maybe people hate rice cakes. Like find out whatever you like and whatever works for you and do that. That's another thing I hate about like the whole fitness industry or like the influence industries. Like you have to do this thing. or you're gonna fail. Like, no, figure out what you can actually stick to long-term. Goes back to the salad thing. Like, you have to figure that out. And so, my thing is just like getting to the gym. I think everyone should be lifting weights because if you're really trying to make it so it's easier to have those kind of like cheat meals or whatever, like you gotta build muscle because if you want your resting metabolic rate to be higher, the resting metabolic rate is essentially how many calories you're burning if you don't do anything all day. So if you want that number to be higher, so let's say it's normally 2000, the more muscle you put on, the higher that number gets. So if you have a lot more muscle, all of a sudden it's 2500, or in my case, it went from, I think like, it's like 3200, 3300. So I'm having to eat a lot more, which makes it super easy to not... overeat. So I'm not going to gain a bunch of weight because I have so much more. I've sounds like so braggy. I just have a lot more muscle than I used to and now I have way more calories after eat where it's a struggle to get to that. ⁓ But it just that's and again, I know I'm doing the thing I said I don't like but for me it's like dude, you gotta you gotta do some sort of resistance training. You don't have to go to the gym. You could do it at your house, but building muscle is I think is critical for everybody's health. ⁓ men and women. ⁓ there's lots of studies that talk about the, the older you get, the less muscle you have in the, the less muscle you have, the more health problems you're going to have as you get older. And so I don't know, that's, that's, that's the thing I preach probably more than anything is like everyone needs to do resistance training and you don't have to go to a gym. You don't have to do exactly what I was doing, but some sort of resistance training should be part of your plan for sure. Alex Skinner: Like because I think about like the reason I had the goal of 153 is I think Conor McGregor is 5'8 and he fought at like 153 and was like, yeah, he looks great. So if I if I become that way, I'll look just like Conor McGregor because we're both the same height, etc. Not understanding all of the other mechanics go like going into it. And I was like, I'm not I'm not I don't want to be a UFC fighter that fights that I don't even know what he was like. That's not like what my actual goal is. Why did I choose him 153 just because he looks a certain way. Right. And so making sure that your goals are aligned. Aaron Skinner: Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Alex Skinner: with what you're actually trying to accomplish as dumb as that sounds like make sure your goals are aligned like because I see a lot of people and this I don't want to poo poo on anybody that's like losing a lot of weight but I see people who are just like losing weights not hard keeping it off is like the really really hard thing and so the easiest way to keep it off is what Aaron just described where it's just like because you've built up so much muscle your RMR is taking care of a lot of those calories for you whereas most Aaron Skinner: Yes. Yeah, exactly. Alex Skinner: that will help them keep it off later on. And that's the thing I struggle with is the keep it off. Like I was super sick a few weeks ago, so I didn't get to work out like my daily workouts like I normally have and then getting back into the habit of doing it again. But thankfully, because I had started in November and I'd consistently been doing it November, December, January, February, then I got sick end of February. Aaron Skinner: Yes. Yes. but it's also putting in the work to figure that kind of stuff out. Again, we, Alex, you and I can't tell people this is how many calories you need to have, this is how many carbs you need to have because everybody's different. So you have to figure out what that number actually is. Like, I think that's, again, it goes back to you need to know what your numbers are. If you don't know what your numbers are and you're just guessing, like. it's never gonna work. And that's what I kind of was, like, I need to be at, you know, I would like figure out what my resting metabolic rate was. And I'm like, okay, I just need to be under that. But I didn't take anything else into account. And that's why I just failed over and over and over again. just like, it's not hard. Dude, it's made, it's so much easier nowadays to educate yourself on all of those things that are specific to you. And that's the other thing too, I preach track everything. Again, this goes back to business. If you're not tracking all your numbers, you're not, You're not staying in touch with your clients. You're not doing all these little unsexy things. You'll never get your final result. So that was another thing. literally, to this day, I still track everything that I eat, but it's because I got in the habit. Like I could not do that and probably be fine. I have a good idea of what I need to eat, but it's just, it's a habit. And the same with like lifting weights. When I'm at the gym, I have a plan and I track all my lifts. Might sound annoying. but there's no better motivation than looking back two months and be like, ⁓ dude, I used to only lift that much and now I'm lifting this one. like, hell yeah, I wonder how much I'll be lifting in six months. And so that just keeps you motivated to do whatever. And it doesn't, again, it doesn't have to be a gym. Maybe it's pushups or pull-ups or whatever it is. If you want to just do things at home, but track everything. That way you can actually see the progress of what you're doing. It just, what's the quote? Like not measuring, I don't know. That's from the mission. can't remember the, you don't measure, can't measure what you're not, what you're not tracking. I don't remember what it is. know what mean? It's something. Yes, you cannot measure what you don't track. I should know that as one of the quotes I had in one of my videos, but I forgot, whatever. ⁓ So yeah, track, just track everything. just makes things, it really does make things so much easier and you can stay on track while you're tracking stuff. So that's another little piece of advice for people. track everything, find an app. There's a bunch of them. There's a bunch of apps you can use that make it easy. Yeah, you try to cheat it. I did the same thing. I don't want my net diary to be disappointed in me. I'm not gonna post what I ate today. Alex Skinner: I'm doing stuff like that. But once again, that's self-reported. There's no like magic button where you can like take my blood and be like, ⁓ Alex's happiness level has gone from like this, this level to this level, right? But it was an interesting thing. was scheduling because I haven't had a physical in forever because similarly like just like, I don't want to go to the doctor because I know all of my tests are going to come back really bad. So now the things are great. I'm going to go to the doctor and be like, ⁓ things look great. Look at me. ⁓ But it was interesting. I called the doctor. I don't remember what the Aaron Skinner: Look at me! Yeah. There's, mean, tons of studies that prove exactly what you're saying. Like I did another video, it was just like, I've never, there's plenty of times I was like, I don't feel like going to the gym today. Like I just, I'm not in the mood, whatever. I've never regretted going. I've always regretted not going. And so that's, that one's huge because I always feel great after. Like even if you're in a bad mood and you just go lift weights, even, and like you said, Alex, even if I don't put in, the full effort that I normally do, like you were talking about, just go to a half mile, like just go and walk on the treadmill and go lift for 20 minutes as opposed to an hour or whatever it is. You will almost always feel better by doing that because you're like, okay, I didn't screw up today, at least I still went and I still did something as opposed to not doing anything. And so I totally agree. Like my mood is so much better. just with all the health stuff, like, you I used to have like the worst like acid reflux when I slept, I didn't sleep good at all. I was tired all the time, like playing with my kids. I would, they have tons of energy. I would just be like, don't know, but now I have the energy to go do stuff with my kids. The benefits are just, there's so many that there's not, there's really not an excuse not to do it. I do have a question for you, Alex. This is one, we clip this one. What are your thoughts on GLP-1s? That's Ozembic. I guess I got to, I tried to sound really cool. I was zembeck. Yeah. I was so tempted dude to do like, like Ozambic or whatever, we'll go, whatever it was, because I was just like, I need to control my hunger, my appetite. Like I have to control this. I'm just, I get this. I really do have a food addiction and that would have been a way to be able to do that. And I don't have a problem with people doing it. Like my opinion is like, if you want to use it and it works for you, awesome. But. My only thing was I had a friend that also did it and I, friend's a loose term. was whatever, an acquaintance. I, so I hadn't seen him in probably like six, eight months or whatever. And then I saw him, I was like, oh my gosh, is he sick? Like he lost a ton of weight, but he looked like, like gaunt. Like he had like the sunken in cheeks and you know, the droopy. Yeah, I thought he was like, I thought he had like cancer. Alex Skinner: Right. Aaron Skinner: And I was like, Hey man, you lost a lot of weight. Like how are things? It was like, yeah, man, I've been doing GOP. I've been doing a Osembic. It's great. Like it is great. Like I think it's good because I think the benefits outweigh the, the problems with it, just as far as like losing weights, get to be way more beneficial health wise than just staying really fat for a long time. So I do believe in that, but the only reason I didn't take it is because of him. was like, I don't. want to look like that. And one of the biggest issues with taking those is you lose just a ton of muscle. Because if you're not eating enough, your muscles just waste away. And so that was my only thing. I don't, like for me, I don't care. Like if you want to, that's, for me, it's like a, it's a tool that people can use. If you literally have an addiction where you can't stop eating, take something that will help with that. My only question, and this isn't really, this is kind of just a question for myself or for everybody, is like, do you just have to stay on it forever? Like, do you like wean yourself off of it? And then what happens after that? If like, that is your tool to not be hungry, what happens when you stop taking it? Do you just gain all the weight back? Because you still have to build in those habits that I just don't know if that's being built in if you're- if you are taking it. So that'd be my biggest, my biggest caution was you most people lose a ton of muscle. And then I never wanted to have to be on a drug that I had to be on forever or I would get fat again. So that was, those are the two reasons I never got. Alex Skinner: why I don't do TRT because I still am producing testosterone at like a normal level. The only reason my testosterone levels were low is because I wasn't working out and I was drinking. And so as you like eliminate those things, testosterone starts to come back. And then like you see these people like, yeah, I'm taking TRT. just like, God, I like you're looking great, but I just have questions. And so I'm always I'm just naturally and maybe this is like from growing up in the Mormon church, which is like, I'm just naturally nervous about putting Aaron Skinner: Right. Or just skeptical in general. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Alex Skinner: ⁓ that also true, but like it was just like, is this thing gonna be bad for me? So I like if people want to do it like if there's a neighbor who like swore by it and he's just like, ⁓ absolutely love it. It's freaking fantastic. He was like in his mid 40s. So anyways. Aaron Skinner: Right, right. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I, I mean, I'll be completely honest. I am on TRT. Like it's one of those things where like, but my thing is like, go get tested and make sure you act like my, my testosterone levels were like super low. And that was even during my like working out stuff. So they never increased into a spot where it was like, all right, your average is always like really, really low. ⁓ And that, that did help. And maybe we're going to get people like, ⁓ well, that's why you're able to get so much muscle. TRT didn't make me get out of the bed and go to the gym. And the other thing too about it is like, I have friends that are on TRT that are still really fat. So it's again, you can't inject yourself with something that's just going to automatically build muscle. And this isn't like a promotional thing. Like everyone should be on TRT. I hate that too. Like, no, go get your blood work done. See if it's something you need. Like Alex did, Alex didn't need it and it's fine. But if it's, you go get your blood work done and you have a doctor, that's not one of those, don't go to one of those places that are just like, I gotta give it to you no matter what. Yeah, exactly. Like go to an actual doctor, get your blood work done and see if that's something that's gonna help. It did help me. ⁓ And you know, you get these people like that'll get to their levels will be like fucking like 1500 or 2000, where you're supposed to like a normal human being, like a normal man is around, you know, like eight hunts, seven to 800 or whatever. So I just, keep it right at that level. I don't do anything extreme. Um, but I wanted to just be able to keep it right where it should be. And so it's the same thing with, with like, uh, the, uh, Ozempic and stuff like that. If you have to use it great, but like kind of have a plan and I do, then it goes back to what my comment about Ozempic, like, do I have to stay on TRT forever? I don't know, maybe. Um, but, uh, I'm willing to do that because the, the side effects for me have been just. Beneficial like I haven't had any like bad side effects. I get my blood work done every six weeks and It's it's just one of those things where you know If you take all the precautions that it's something you actually need great But don't think there's a magic shot or a magic pill that you're gonna take That that just solves everything you still have to put the work in like I said I have plenty of friends that have been on TRT for years and are still very overweight and still very miserable. But I think in their mind, they're like, ⁓ if I take TRT, I'm gonna get super jacked. I like, no, dude, you still gotta lock in that diet and you still gotta put in the work. That's what you have to do. Yeah. Alex Skinner: to me things that are indicators of like being happier continue doing whatever that thing is I'm sure someone could come to me like what about the heroin addict who like says like ⁓ I'm like generally happier this way this way this way this way ask him when they're not on the heroin first off like let's make let's make this a fair fair fight but just assess and then and then similar to the Ozepic thing like I am actually less happier now and I do think that it has something to do with the Ozepic then stop stop doing that thing for me it was the teaching Aaron Skinner: Mm-hmm. And I think honestly, the entire, if anyone takes, if the only thing that people take away from this entire discussion, you have to figure out what is going to work for you that is sustainable. That's all it is. You have to figure that out. And once you figure that out, kind of problem solved. But once you figure it out, you still have to put the work in. So nothing, nothing in this life is just given. You still have to put the work in, but you need to figure out what those numbers are for all your macros and. exercise, you still need to exercise, but just figure out, figure those things out and you will be much happier with your life. There's no one system works for everybody because I've tried all the different systems and I found one that finally worked for me and I like telling people what I do, but they don't have to do exactly what I do. They can do whatever they want. mean, it's a perfect example. Alex, no TRT. I take some TRT and I love going to the gym. Some people Maybe they hate going to the gym. So you don't have to go to the gym. yeah, exactly. Like there's just plenty of things. There's so many options of what you can do. Just find out what works for you. That's the biggest lesson that you could take away from this. Find out what works for you and just keep doing it. That's, and I hope it's not eating crappy and feeling miserable works for me. Like, all right, well, then don't ask why you're miserable and why your health sucks. Alex Skinner: Well, Aaron goes to the gym, I do P90X at home. Aaron Skinner: Well, there's many things. Honestly, one of the things was we were doing Unsexy Businessmen and I knew I was gonna be in the public eye. And I was like, I don't want the first comment to be like, whatever fatty. It's like stupid. But again, whatever motivates you to get healthy. was like one of many, many things. But it was one of those things like, know I just want to, I want to be taken seriously. And unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, however you want to look at it, we live in a society where if you see someone that's, that's not in shape or not take it, you can clearly tell they're not taking care of themselves. There's just something about that. We're like, I don't know if I could take this person seriously. I, can't, they can't control their diet. They can't control. There's like, what else can't they control? And there's plenty of assholes that are super jacked. It's super motivated at the gym. It doesn't mean you're a good person just because you're really healthy. That's not what I'm saying at all. But I would just say in general, if we're just talking about everyone, especially like the United States, if you see someone that looks unhealthy, you are less likely to take them seriously than if you see someone they're like, ⁓ that person takes care of themselves. So that's kind of another thing too, just business in general, think is better. Alex Skinner: make that nice little clip out after this. But thanks everybody for listening today. I forget what I was going to say. Oh, if anyone has any comments or wants to ask us any questions, feel free to send those to unsexybusinessman at gmail.com or just leave them in the comments on YouTube and we will get those answered in future episodes.
