- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hello and welcome to She's on the Money podcast that

- 1:05Speaker 4: favorite day of the week because we get the team
- 1:07Speaker 4: together and celebrate you ow incredible. She's on the Money community.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Today's just Greegie is going to be sharing her favorite
- 1:14Speaker 4: money wins from our community with you. Miss beck Sayed
- 1:17Speaker 4: is going to be sharing her broke tips and we're
- 1:19Speaker 4: going to be helping to answer a juicy money dilemma,
- 1:21Speaker 4: which this week is all about what to do when
- 1:24Speaker 4: you find out your colleague is doing the same job
- 1:26Speaker 4: as you, but is getting paid more to do it
- 1:30Speaker 4: and something that you slid into our DMS about this week,
- 1:33Speaker 4: we're talking about whether you should ask your partner to
- 1:35Speaker 4: stop going to the bank of Mum and Dad.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Happy Hallowekend, Happy Halloweekend.
- 1:49Speaker 4: That's the theme.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Absolutely, it is.
- 1:51Speaker 5: I've never heard that before. That's clever.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I feel like that's it. It's a big un mate.
- 1:55Speaker 2: I didn't know what was the thing. It's my wedding anniversary. Yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 2: we can what secret. It's a great either way because
- 2:03Speaker 2: some people celebrated last weekend because this obviously Halloween this
- 2:06Speaker 2: week is in the middle of the week, so it's
- 2:08Speaker 2: take your pug.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Jess has just been like both, yeah, absolutely, I love that.
- 2:12Speaker 4: I love that. In not so spooky news, what is
- 2:16Speaker 4: my wedding anniversary this weekend? And I'm so excited about
- 2:19Speaker 4: that two years. But get this, you guys are gonna
- 2:22Speaker 4: be like, sorry, what the hotel that we got married at.
- 2:26Speaker 4: We were like so excited because we thought this is
- 2:28Speaker 4: going to be lame, but we could like go for
- 2:30Speaker 4: a stay ca on our anniversary and as our family grows,
- 2:33Speaker 4: like take take the kids and stuff. So we had
- 2:36Speaker 4: booked this stayk for a couple of nights at the
- 2:39Speaker 4: hotel that we got married at, and we were so
- 2:41Speaker 4: excited to take Carvey. And then they called us and
- 2:43Speaker 4: said they don't accept children at the hotel anymore.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Say, I haven't.
- 2:48Speaker 4: I don't know what if anything happened, but they were like, yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 4: you can't bring your kid, and I'm like, my kid
- 2:53Speaker 4: is nearly eight months old. I will not just be
- 2:56Speaker 4: like leaving him at home.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Oh we're not going.
- 3:00Speaker 4: We're not going. We're just gonna hang out. It's fine.
- 3:02Speaker 4: But you know when you're just like, that's so strange. Rue. Also,
- 3:05Speaker 4: I want to know what happened that made you ban
- 3:08Speaker 4: kids in general.
- 3:10Speaker 2: You just know that someone's kid was like running up
- 3:12Speaker 2: the whole way, smearing shit on the walls or like
- 3:15Speaker 2: something extreme. Yeah, because if it wasn't like fair enough,
- 3:18Speaker 2: if it was a kid free hotel to begin with,
- 3:21Speaker 2: like an adults only remember I have my wedding there,
- 3:24Speaker 2: get the kids everywhere.
- 3:26Speaker 5: I'm really curious to know.
- 3:27Speaker 2: I just need to know the goss. Anyway.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Anyway, moving on, we have some new five star reviews. Guys,
- 3:34Speaker 4: who was just three cheek? Do you want to start
- 3:36Speaker 4: us off this week. Absolutely.
- 3:38Speaker 2: My one is from Kate Cute name, and she said,
- 3:43Speaker 2: I love this podcast so much. It has taught me
- 3:46Speaker 2: so much about money that I wish I knew years ago.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I love you so much better late than never. Highly
- 3:52Speaker 2: recommend you.
- 3:55Speaker 4: It is so sweet. I was in Spotlight yesterday and
- 3:58Speaker 4: I met one of ow She's on the Money community members,
- 4:00Speaker 4: and I looked like a bogan. I was wearing my
- 4:02Speaker 4: socks and my birken stocks together I call them burken socks,
- 4:06Speaker 4: and I was buying embroidery thread and did not look
- 4:09Speaker 4: my best and she was like, Hi, what are you embroidering?
- 4:11Speaker 2: I saw it on your and.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Making Santa sacks. Also, I really like you know how online.
- 4:17Speaker 4: I don't know if anybody else is as chronically online
- 4:19Speaker 4: as me, but I've seen a lot of girls buy
- 4:21Speaker 4: like jeans that have like little flower embroidery patches on
- 4:25Speaker 4: their like jean backs and pockets and stuff, and I
- 4:28Speaker 4: think it's so cute and they're so expensive, and I'm like,
- 4:30Speaker 4: can't be that hard?
- 4:31Speaker 2: Could you do it?
- 4:31Speaker 4: I could do it myself. And thread, like colored thread
- 4:34Speaker 4: is like a dollar fifty each, So I was like
- 4:36Speaker 4: this could be me. And also I have ADHD, so
- 4:39Speaker 4: that's my current hyperfixation. That's my hobby. I'll probably have
- 4:42Speaker 4: a new one in two weeks. Thank you great.
- 4:44Speaker 5: Well, before you get there, can you embroider me some jeans?
- 4:47Speaker 4: I would? Yeah, let me learn first. I mean I
- 4:50Speaker 4: have done embroidery before, but like, let me just blush
- 4:53Speaker 4: up on my skills and then you let me know
- 4:55Speaker 4: what you want and I'll.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Do it for you perfect, exactly exactly.
- 5:00Speaker 4: I want to know what's your five star review that
- 5:02Speaker 4: you're going to share this week?
- 5:03Speaker 2: Beck?
- 5:03Speaker 5: Okay, so this one comes from Brook. Brook says, I'm
- 5:05Speaker 5: absolutely loving this podcast. It's all I want to listen
- 5:08Speaker 5: to twenty four to seven. I appreciate the way Victoria
- 5:10Speaker 5: Devine explains complicated and confusing in brackets for someone with
- 5:14Speaker 5: no financial background subjects in a way that is simple
- 5:17Speaker 5: and easy to understand. Thank you so how nice is that?
- 5:20Speaker 1: I know?
- 5:20Speaker 5: Thank you so much for this amazing resource. Fabulous she's
- 5:23Speaker 5: on the Money team.
- 5:25Speaker 2: I love that.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Also, there's like seven hundred plus episodes, so we can
- 5:29Speaker 4: be in your ears all the time. Also, I wouldn't
- 5:31Speaker 4: wish that upon anybody like that's fair.
- 5:35Speaker 2: If you want it, but maybe you don't want it.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Also, I mean, thank you for the five star review.
- 5:39Speaker 4: I really appreciate it. But there are a lot of
- 5:41Speaker 4: other good podcasts. My favorite one is Morbid. You should
- 5:44Speaker 4: like mix it up a little bit because only wanting
- 5:46Speaker 4: to listen to this girl.
- 5:48Speaker 5: She's only human.
- 5:49Speaker 4: True, it's true, It's true. I have one though. This
- 5:52Speaker 4: one's from Marie Kim. She says, love the empowering energy.
- 5:57Speaker 4: I'm a long way from being a millennial. My thirty
- 5:59Speaker 4: something daughter put me on too, She's on the Money.
- 6:02Speaker 4: But I figure it's never too late to learn about
- 6:04Speaker 4: money and finance. It's so true, so right. Financial literacy
- 6:08Speaker 4: is so important for men, and no matter what age
- 6:10Speaker 4: you are or what your current knowledge level is, this
- 6:13Speaker 4: is a fantastic podcast. Lifelong learning is the key that
- 6:17Speaker 4: is so cool. Cur Hi, Everyone's welcome. I feel like
- 6:21Speaker 4: you guys might have noticed we have been moving away
- 6:23Speaker 4: from the Hello, We'll welcome to She's on the Money,
- 6:25Speaker 4: the podcast for millennials. Yeah, because I'm like, our community
- 6:29Speaker 4: is so diverse. Yeah, like, And over the last what
- 6:31Speaker 4: six months or so, we've been like the podcast that
- 6:34Speaker 4: makes personal finance fun. And I think that that's really like,
- 6:37Speaker 4: it's important to point that out as well, because we're
- 6:39Speaker 4: not just for millennials, like, we have so many younger
- 6:42Speaker 4: people and also so many older people, like we have
- 6:45Speaker 4: women in their seventies. And I think we had a
- 6:47Speaker 4: message what was it like a couple of months ago,
- 6:49Speaker 4: and they said, my grammar, who's eighty one, listened to
- 6:52Speaker 4: your podcast and thought it was really fun. No, I
- 6:54Speaker 4: was that cool?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Iconic?
- 6:55Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 6:56Speaker 5: Yeah, I love that.
- 6:57Speaker 4: It's probably an untapped retiree market we could get in retirement.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Not much yet, but hopefully soon. We're working on it.
- 7:06Speaker 4: You know. Let's go on to the money wins from
- 7:08Speaker 4: our community this week, Jess, what are you bringing to
- 7:10Speaker 4: the table wearing a witch's hat?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Oh bridy. Firstly, this week I have went from Holly
- 7:15Speaker 2: who said, because if she's in the money's recommendation to
- 7:17Speaker 2: build an emergency fund. For the first time ever, I
- 7:20Speaker 2: was able to pay an unexpected three hundred dollars bill
- 7:23Speaker 2: that popped off with cash instead of putting it on
- 7:25Speaker 2: my credit card.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Is so cool and you're not just staying out of debt.
- 7:30Speaker 4: How good does it feel?
- 7:32Speaker 1: Like?
- 7:32Speaker 4: Holy moly, I've got the cash for that, And that's
- 7:35Speaker 4: that's me changing my money story. Yeah, and seeing people.
- 7:38Speaker 2: We're getting around Holly on the thread, which was we
- 7:42Speaker 2: love to see it. Next, I've got a money win
- 7:45Speaker 2: from Lauren, who said I told my boss that I
- 7:47Speaker 2: was working on saving some money to buy some new furniture,
- 7:50Speaker 2: and she offered me an extra twelve hour shift to
- 7:52Speaker 2: pick up.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Oh thank you you that that's a photo of a
- 7:56Speaker 4: truck that was taila he had.
- 8:01Speaker 2: No break let. Next, I've got a money win from Katie,
- 8:06Speaker 2: who said she recommended our fabulous celebrant to two couples
- 8:09Speaker 2: who we know, who both ended up booking her for
- 8:11Speaker 2: their wedding. The celebrant ended up sending us a hundred
- 8:14Speaker 2: dollars restaurant vout chat. I so a thank you. That's
- 8:16Speaker 2: it's so sweet go out for dinner on us.
- 8:19Speaker 4: You're a new couple and probably spent all your money
- 8:21Speaker 4: on your wedding anyway.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I was just like, so thoughtful and sweet. Next, I've
- 8:25Speaker 2: got a money win from Sarah, who said she saved
- 8:28Speaker 2: ten grand off of their new shed build just by
- 8:31Speaker 2: getting an extra quote. She said she usually gets three,
- 8:34Speaker 2: but this time around, she just ended up getting four,
- 8:36Speaker 2: and the last one that came in was ten thousand
- 8:38Speaker 2: dollars cheaper than all others, more than you think.
- 8:42Speaker 4: See, I need to go get some driveway quotes there
- 8:45Speaker 4: you go, Yeah, because like ours came in and I
- 8:47Speaker 4: was like, absolutely not. And so right now I have
- 8:50Speaker 4: like a derelict front yard because we've started demolishing. And
- 8:54Speaker 4: then we realized that the quotes that came back, I
- 8:56Speaker 4: was like, I am not willing to pay that expended
- 8:59Speaker 4: absolutely not, yeah, but just exorbitant. Like I know that
- 9:02Speaker 4: putting in a new driveway, it's not going to be
- 9:04Speaker 4: a cheap yest. Yeah, but like, don't take the mickey,
- 9:08Speaker 4: you know, sure, I'm not going to play with you.
- 9:09Speaker 4: If you're not going to play nice chop around.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Well, I suggest at least four at least for Sarah's recommendation.
- 9:16Speaker 2: So there you go, orribe what else have you got?
- 9:17Speaker 2: And lastly, this week, I've got a money in from
- 9:19Speaker 2: Maddie who said a brow salon that she's visited in
- 9:22Speaker 2: the past posted on the Instagram story because they had
- 9:25Speaker 2: a couple of free slots for a brow and lash
- 9:28Speaker 2: appointment if you were happy to be a content model
- 9:30Speaker 2: because they needed it for the Instagram tape. Pics at
- 9:33Speaker 2: any time. Absolutely so Maddie swooped in, snagged a booking
- 9:37Speaker 2: and saved herself one hundred and twenty bucks one hundred
- 9:39Speaker 2: and twenty dollars because I guess it was a free
- 9:42Speaker 2: She's going to retreat so expensive. Do you guys remember Beck,
- 9:45Speaker 2: You're probably going to be like, nah, never when like
- 9:48Speaker 2: a full set of nails was like thirty dollars crazy?
- 9:51Speaker 2: Do you remember when you used to get them.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Like in like end of high school, like thirty bucks
- 9:55Speaker 4: and you get there these chunky aresacrylics terrible, you know
- 9:59Speaker 4: the ones, the really thick wide.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Yeah, or they sound so.
- 10:04Speaker 4: Like they were thirty dollars. Yeah, they'd be like how
- 10:07Speaker 4: much now plasticky? Oh you're paying like seventy dollars at
- 10:10Speaker 4: least to get stuff nowadays black material. And I mean
- 10:13Speaker 4: we live in like what's central Melbourne, so like it
- 10:16Speaker 4: might be less out of Melbourne, but like it's I'm
- 10:18Speaker 4: not saying it's not worth it, like absolutely not, Like
- 10:21Speaker 4: still pay your nail text they deserve it. But at
- 10:23Speaker 4: the end of the day, like just remember when things
- 10:26Speaker 4: didn't feel as so, Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: That's why I do my nails at home because.
- 10:31Speaker 4: I do my nails at home as well, and I
- 10:32Speaker 4: love it, but I do pay for my brows and lashes.
- 10:35Speaker 4: It's not something I'm willing to mess around with. We
- 10:38Speaker 4: all know i'd mess it around for real bad. Yeah,
- 10:40Speaker 4: come in with no eyebrows and you'd be like I
- 10:43Speaker 4: thought they were tattooed on.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Victoria and I did for this week.
- 10:50Speaker 4: I love that.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Beck.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Have you got some little broke tips? If so, what
- 10:54Speaker 2: are they?
- 10:55Speaker 1: I do?
- 10:56Speaker 5: Actually, just really quickly. I almost had a money lost
- 10:58Speaker 5: this week, and I just I feel that it's important
- 11:01Speaker 5: to tell in case anyone else gets one of these.
- 11:03Speaker 5: So I got an email the other day and it
- 11:06Speaker 5: was like Rebecca sired and it had my date of birth,
- 11:09Speaker 5: and it was like, how do I know this? It
- 11:11Speaker 5: was very like it was scarey, but it was also
- 11:13Speaker 5: very like they're talking to me and they're like, we've
- 11:16Speaker 5: tapped your computer and we're going to share.
- 11:17Speaker 6: All of you.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was excuse and like all.
- 11:21Speaker 5: This, all this time, you've been building your reputation. I
- 11:24Speaker 5: was like, I don't know what they're talking about, but
- 11:25Speaker 5: I was also like I'm scared about what they Also.
- 11:28Speaker 4: I have been trying to keep a clean little reputation.
- 11:31Speaker 4: I was like, I guess everyone knows, but I was like,
- 11:35Speaker 4: is there I don't know, And so you start questioning
- 11:36Speaker 4: yourself and then I was like, I was.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Like, we're nice people. Just send us two thousand dollars
- 11:41Speaker 5: and I was like, what is anyway? I d ended
- 11:43Speaker 5: up doing anything, obviously, because I was like, I guess
- 11:45Speaker 5: you know, I'm not too worried, and nothing happened, but
- 11:47Speaker 5: I guess it did. Someone out like, what are you
- 11:48Speaker 5: going to do? Say something bad about me? Have a
- 11:50Speaker 5: fun time? Yeah, you want to send photos of me
- 11:52Speaker 5: to everyone? Everyone has the ugliest photos of me that
- 11:54Speaker 5: I've ever seen.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I think you can say something to me that I
- 11:58Speaker 2: haven't said to myself.
- 11:59Speaker 4: Sit down email.
- 12:02Speaker 2: I think they assume that everyone has something they want
- 12:04Speaker 2: to hide, and they're just hoping that someone goes, oh,
- 12:06Speaker 2: like I've got photos or I've got screenshots, or I've
- 12:08Speaker 2: got something.
- 12:09Speaker 5: Or I don't want to get to share them?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Share them?
- 12:11Speaker 4: Are they photos of me?
- 12:12Speaker 2: Pre baby? Yeah? Show people?
- 12:14Speaker 5: Yes, isn't me looking down on my phone with the
- 12:17Speaker 5: double chin?
- 12:17Speaker 4: Sure?
- 12:18Speaker 5: Send it welcome anyway.
- 12:20Speaker 2: In case anyone gets.
- 12:21Speaker 5: One of those, don't do anything about it, because no
- 12:23Speaker 5: I'm not real.
- 12:24Speaker 2: No, they're not. They're just hoping that you'll be your
- 12:27Speaker 2: paddic if you're something.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I do really enjoy the scam the scammer videos that
- 12:31Speaker 4: are going around at the moment.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I love I just I love it.
- 12:35Speaker 4: And when the guy pretends to be the little old
- 12:37Speaker 4: lady and he's like, oh, yes, I got the Apple
- 12:39Speaker 4: gift card and he's like, yes, read me the numbers.
- 12:41Speaker 4: And then he's like, yes, I've just put it in
- 12:43Speaker 4: and I bought something with it. That's so exciting, and
- 12:45Speaker 4: the scam is like, you're.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Not meant to do.
- 12:48Speaker 4: It's just sweet revenge.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, if you're a scammer, you deserve it. Every
- 12:54Speaker 2: awful thing that's.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Coming up right back to broke tips back.
- 12:57Speaker 5: Yes, okay, so this first one comes from a friend
- 12:59Speaker 5: of mine and who says, if you save this all
- 13:02Speaker 5: Halloween theme just by the way, yea, if you.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Say Halloween theme, our money wins. I did look that
- 13:09Speaker 4: cut a money lot or a Neil money lost school kids.
- 13:16Speaker 5: We're doing that all day. Okay. So my friend says
- 13:19Speaker 5: that if you know, at the end of Easter, like
- 13:21Speaker 5: everything's super cheap, like all the eggs and stuff like
- 13:23Speaker 5: that if you save, you save all those and you
- 13:27Speaker 5: put those really cheap. You can also like boxing day
- 13:31Speaker 5: things like that, any kind of day where chocolate is
- 13:34Speaker 5: crazy cheap. The next day or day off or whatever,
- 13:38Speaker 5: just bulk by and kids don't mind. If the chocolate's
- 13:41Speaker 5: got a little bit of that fat bloom on it,
- 13:43Speaker 5: they're gonna eat it. They don't mind.
- 13:45Speaker 2: I did.
- 13:45Speaker 4: I wouldn't eat it as a kid, So be careful
- 13:47Speaker 4: because I think that Jess would be the same. You
- 13:51Speaker 4: know where they get the little white that is. Yeah,
- 13:56Speaker 4: seeing the chocolate coming out, it's usually like just like cocoa.
- 13:59Speaker 2: Butter, like it's actually sounding.
- 14:01Speaker 4: It's quicker about it, like that's in chocolate, Like it's
- 14:04Speaker 4: good for you. It's not bad. It just like starts
- 14:07Speaker 4: to separate over time because I.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Just thought the chocolate was going bad. I've never really
- 14:11Speaker 2: given it that much.
- 14:12Speaker 4: No, so you were like over and out. You can
- 14:13Speaker 4: cout it still though, because it will remelt into your ingredients.
- 14:18Speaker 4: I buy the like mini eggs, but then I regret
- 14:22Speaker 4: the mini eggs when I decide to use that chocolate
- 14:24Speaker 4: for a recipe and I have to hand unral eggs
- 14:28Speaker 4: and put them in a bowl until like you get
- 14:29Speaker 4: two hundred grams or something, and I'm like, why did
- 14:31Speaker 4: I do this?
- 14:32Speaker 2: Oh my god?
- 14:33Speaker 5: Why is they're not a TikTok hack yet for quickly
- 14:36Speaker 5: undoing all of them? Because sometimes, like you're, I am
- 14:39Speaker 5: raving this. Sometimes I'm insatiable, especially with these little eggs.
- 14:41Speaker 4: I like that it slows me down. Yeah, that's fairy,
- 14:44Speaker 4: like I need to be. I need to be held
- 14:47Speaker 4: back from the chocolates, and so individually wrapped things help
- 14:50Speaker 4: because you best believe if I buy a whole block
- 14:52Speaker 4: of chocolate.
- 14:53Speaker 2: She's gone, gone, She's gone.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Like I opened it. It's one serving, one package goals
- 14:58Speaker 4: one serving.
- 14:59Speaker 5: No, I agree with that. I agree with that. This
- 15:01Speaker 5: ex one comes from alex. This one is silly and
- 15:03Speaker 5: really funny and just like maybe no one will use it.
- 15:06Speaker 5: If you put a an empty bowl of just an
- 15:08Speaker 5: empty bottle out and you put like a little sign
- 15:10Speaker 5: saying just take one, then it will look like if
- 15:14Speaker 5: you've been pillaged already and you don't have to do anything.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Treated get but you don't want your house to beg
- 15:24Speaker 2: Yeah exactly.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Yeah, people still egg houses.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I'm sure they would. Surely someone cut it off on
- 15:31Speaker 2: the and they honked it as really loud at like
- 15:33Speaker 2: driving home the other day, and my boyfriend was like,
- 15:36Speaker 2: on Halloween, we're going to find if we can. We're not,
- 15:39Speaker 2: We're not, but he.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Was like, yeah, I mean I don't want to waste eggs,
- 15:43Speaker 4: but can we keep eggs in our cars and just
- 15:46Speaker 4: egg people who cut us offween?
- 15:50Speaker 5: Yeah, that's so fine.
- 15:51Speaker 2: I think treat hard to treat ha ha.
- 15:53Speaker 4: It's not even a treat.
- 15:54Speaker 5: It is such an annoying prank though, isn't it.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 4: I remember our house way back when I was probably
- 16:00Speaker 4: like eight or nine got egged. I don't know if
- 16:03Speaker 4: it was on Halloween Halloween or not, maybe animals, but
- 16:06Speaker 4: like our household got egged, and my mom was off
- 16:09Speaker 4: it because it was summer. Oh yeah, yeah. She was
- 16:11Speaker 4: not happy even gross, And I was like, ew did
- 16:16Speaker 4: they cook?
- 16:17Speaker 2: Like they just they didn't cook.
- 16:19Speaker 4: They just went hard like they like they like had
- 16:22Speaker 4: kind of dried onto the walls and stuff, and we
- 16:25Speaker 4: had like a brick house.
- 16:27Speaker 2: It was kind of like, yeah, the brick.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Yeah. I just remember mum being like a fair enough Yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 4: I agree with her. I would be pretty pretty.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I see yous preferably.
- 16:38Speaker 4: But also I don't understand the like I understand the
- 16:41Speaker 4: concept of trick or treating right, really cute, but like
- 16:46Speaker 4: now I'm a mum. I'm like, am I gonna tell
- 16:50Speaker 4: Harvey about strange danger? Yeah? Twenty four to seven, like
- 16:54Speaker 4: three hundred and sixty four days of the year. I'm like,
- 16:56Speaker 4: stranger's gotta be careful of them one day of the year.
- 16:59Speaker 4: I'm like, so to do is go and knock on
- 17:01Speaker 4: strangers doors while you're dressed up and take whatever candy
- 17:04Speaker 4: they give you and be grateful for it.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 5: True with little kids.
- 17:10Speaker 4: So I feel like, wait, I don't know how this works,
- 17:12Speaker 4: but my son will not be doing trick or treating
- 17:15Speaker 4: by himself.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I mean I have to do. Yes, I.
- 17:23Speaker 4: Have a job for you. You live in a really
- 17:25Speaker 4: nice estate. I'm going to drop my kid over to
- 17:28Speaker 4: you on Halloween and be like, looks like a you problem.
- 17:32Speaker 2: It's really good. Our state's quite good because they do
- 17:34Speaker 2: a map every year. So if you if you're going
- 17:37Speaker 2: to have candy, so so people who don't want to
- 17:39Speaker 2: participate don't get knocked on their door all night. So
- 17:41Speaker 2: if you're going to have stuff for kids, you put
- 17:43Speaker 2: your name and your address goes on a map, and
- 17:45Speaker 2: so then they have a map of the estate where
- 17:47Speaker 2: to go. And usually they'll say, oh, like if you're like,
- 17:49Speaker 2: if you want that, it's kind of cute and.
- 17:51Speaker 4: That feels right, That feels a lot safer, and like,
- 17:53Speaker 4: genuinely you living in a state makes me feel a
- 17:56Speaker 4: lot safe. It's very community. I live on a main road.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Like, not feeling great about that.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Perfect utopia.
- 18:05Speaker 4: Does it's basically gated.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Broke tip back, Okay, my one is I went through
- 18:11Speaker 5: and I compared all the prices of like lollies and
- 18:13Speaker 5: stuff like that. So just like a generic one, I'm
- 18:16Speaker 5: going to use the freddo the twelve pack of frettos
- 18:18Speaker 5: for any for example, so in Coals and woolwords six dollars,
- 18:24Speaker 5: reject Shop and Alga five dollars. NQR roughly like two dollars.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Obviously QR is iconic, but also who cares if it's
- 18:35Speaker 4: running out soon?
- 18:38Speaker 2: Exactly exactly.
- 18:39Speaker 5: NQR is so good. I'm assuming there'd be something at.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Cheap about heaps of them.
- 18:44Speaker 5: There would be some equivalents for other states, but just
- 18:46Speaker 5: have a little look. See I'm not sure if there's
- 18:48Speaker 5: an QR everywhere, but I'm sure you'll find something equivalent,
- 18:51Speaker 5: but yeah, so I recommend all your Holloween shopping go
- 18:55Speaker 5: to NQR. And even if they're like lollies no one's
- 18:58Speaker 5: ever heard of before, some kids love just like stuff
- 19:01Speaker 5: just their mind, just chuck it in there.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I feel like lollipops are really good too, because they're
- 19:06Speaker 2: often come in packs of like fifty sheep wrap and
- 19:09Speaker 2: they individually wrapped as well. So I feel like stuff
- 19:11Speaker 2: like that is good.
- 19:13Speaker 4: I haven't done anything. I feel bad, but I'm going
- 19:16Speaker 4: to get egged good. But I feel like even going
- 19:20Speaker 4: to Kmart and getting the party packs, you know how
- 19:23Speaker 4: they come in like individually wrapped candy, bracelets and stuff.
- 19:27Speaker 4: If I was a kid, that's what I want. Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 4: on a candy watch something fun.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and then all the Halloween candy goes on sale
- 19:35Speaker 2: the day after Halloween, Like he's yes, and you say.
- 19:38Speaker 5: That stopped you?
- 19:40Speaker 2: What do you got your eye on to purchase this season?
- 19:42Speaker 2: Just you know the trolley like they do the oh yeah,
- 19:46Speaker 2: they have like a Halloween like mixed pack, And I
- 19:49Speaker 2: like them because they're individually wrapped and they're good to
- 19:50Speaker 2: just like keep in your purse for an afternoon gummy web.
- 19:54Speaker 2: That's very dope, that's very justic.
- 19:57Speaker 4: I feel like, in the most non offense, if we
- 20:00Speaker 4: ever just belongs in Utah, like in the nicest way possible,
- 20:05Speaker 4: like super wholesome, always has good hair, like wants to
- 20:08Speaker 4: drink a lot of diet. Coke also wants to celebrate
- 20:12Speaker 4: all of the holidays with a theme and has like
- 20:15Speaker 4: a mega mansion that she like dresses up. Yeah, Bubbie
- 20:18Speaker 4: dreamhouse vipes. Oh, I wish I had a porch to decorate.
- 20:21Speaker 4: It'd be so porch. See.
- 20:22Speaker 7: She even talks about, No, I'm so happy you guys
- 20:27Speaker 7: supported me this year and finally dressed up for the show.
- 20:30Speaker 7: I'm just wearing a tiara, but we forgot if you
- 20:32Speaker 7: were better organized, Beck, what would you have dressed up as?
- 20:36Speaker 5: I was meant to be? Ellen Degeneroes.
- 20:38Speaker 2: I really like that.
- 20:40Speaker 4: I really like that.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Sad.
- 20:43Speaker 5: I know I'll try and do it sometime this week.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I like her, all right?
- 20:48Speaker 4: And Jess, what were you going to dress up as?
- 20:50Speaker 4: Had we actually said yeah, of course we're in we
- 20:52Speaker 4: definitely were prepared.
- 20:54Speaker 2: I would have done the classic Britney Spears baby one
- 20:57Speaker 2: more time because I feel like it's simple enough of
- 20:58Speaker 2: an outfit that I wouldn't feel crazy walking into the building.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I'm KHATI the fluffy little you know tabs.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Yeah, oh no, So I would have recycled my Barbie
- 21:10Speaker 4: fairy Topia costume.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Does need another excuse to get out, it does?
- 21:15Speaker 4: I would have recycled that. I think it's got a
- 21:17Speaker 4: two to a little like sparkly top. I've got fairy wings,
- 21:21Speaker 4: there's a tr like. It's just a lot. Unfortunately I
- 21:24Speaker 4: got rid of the blonde wig, so would have had
- 21:28Speaker 4: to buy another one. But you know, you get what
- 21:31Speaker 4: you get. But I bought all of the jewelry for
- 21:34Speaker 4: that too, like the Barbie fairy Topia necklace, the Barbie
- 21:37Speaker 4: fairy Topia like bracelet. I also had the fairy Oki
- 21:41Speaker 4: karaoke wings that yes, of course if you'd like to
- 21:45Speaker 4: borrow them, no worries. They actually it's like a backpack
- 21:47Speaker 4: that you put on and it's plastic fairy wings.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Did you see them? You would have? You were on
- 21:51Speaker 2: my birthday picturing?
- 21:53Speaker 4: Yeah, so, like everyone had had a few beveraginos except
- 21:57Speaker 4: for me because I had found out the day before
- 22:00Speaker 4: thirtieth birthday that we had that I was pregnant, so
- 22:02Speaker 4: I was drinking fake champagne all night, duping you guys.
- 22:07Speaker 4: And yeah, it has like an attached wand which is
- 22:10Speaker 4: actually the microphone and pre like the backpack the middle
- 22:14Speaker 4: of the fairy wings speaker.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, why did I know that?
- 22:19Speaker 2: That's cool?
- 22:19Speaker 4: What do you mean you did know that? I was
- 22:21Speaker 4: dancing and singing all night? This is before morning sickness
- 22:24Speaker 4: took hold. Right, of course, it was fantastic. Let's go
- 22:27Speaker 4: to a really quick break on the flip side. We're
- 22:29Speaker 4: going to talk about what to do when you find
- 22:31Speaker 4: out that your colleague is doing the same job as
- 22:33Speaker 4: you but getting paid way more, and something that you
- 22:36Speaker 4: lead into our dms about we're chatting about whether you
- 22:38Speaker 4: should ask your partner to stop going to the bank
- 22:41Speaker 4: of Mom and dad. Don't go anywhere, guys.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Welcome back, everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 22:53Speaker 2: money dilemma.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Hi, there, have you got a money dilemma you just
- 22:58Speaker 4: can't solve. He's on the Money Team is here to help.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Every week we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small,
- 23:05Speaker 4: to answer your most burning money, career and life questions.
- 23:08Speaker 4: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 23:11Speaker 4: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 23:13Speaker 4: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 23:15Speaker 4: this week's money dilemma.
- 23:19Speaker 8: Hi, she's on the money. Love love, love your work.
- 23:23Speaker 8: I have a question here and would really like your advice.
- 23:26Speaker 8: Our company hire a temporary support staff from our head
- 23:30Speaker 8: office from Europe. After a few months, she decided want
- 23:36Speaker 8: to stay in Australia, so the company sponsor her for
- 23:41Speaker 8: our work visa to work in Australia. So she works
- 23:44Speaker 8: in a very similar role as what I do, like
- 23:48Speaker 8: a project coordinator, project administrators sort of role, do not
- 23:53Speaker 8: really need special skills at all. Lately, I find out
- 23:58Speaker 8: that she's actually getting pay more than double of what
- 24:02Speaker 8: I'm getting paid at the moment, and her work low
- 24:05Speaker 8: is probably only sixty percent of what I'm doing. I
- 24:09Speaker 8: feel really frustrated about this. I want to know, is
- 24:14Speaker 8: this even lego in so many different level Should I
- 24:19Speaker 8: confront my boss about the big pay gap difference or
- 24:26Speaker 8: should I be looking for another job? Thank you? In
- 24:29Speaker 8: that month?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Oh my god. When she said, oh, she's.
- 24:33Speaker 4: Being paid more, I was like, oh, I don't know.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, we've all been there.
- 24:38Speaker 4: But also like I don't know the context, like, you know,
- 24:40Speaker 4: has she come from overseas with a lot more experience?
- 24:43Speaker 4: Like yeah, And I'm not trying to justify it because
- 24:45Speaker 4: that sucks, but I'm assuming life. Like then she gave
- 24:47Speaker 4: us the context and I was like, sorry, girl, what double?
- 24:52Speaker 4: And she's doing less work?
- 24:55Speaker 5: That is so criminal? I think it is criminal.
- 24:58Speaker 4: I don't know. Yeah it is, but it isn't like
- 25:01Speaker 4: it depends on like their award rates. It depends on
- 25:04Speaker 4: like the legalities of the industry.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Is it acceptable?
- 25:08Speaker 4: No? And that's what we're going to talk about, right, Yes,
- 25:10Speaker 4: So I want to know what would you guys do,
- 25:13Speaker 4: Beck if you came to work and found out new
- 25:16Speaker 4: person at work was being paid double what you're doing
- 25:20Speaker 4: less work?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Okay, what would you do?
- 25:23Speaker 5: This actually happened recently, but not with me, with someone
- 25:27Speaker 5: someone then you name them Sharon, named them Sharon, yep,
- 25:31Speaker 5: and then the other person was named Kim for example.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Okay. Great.
- 25:35Speaker 5: First of all, I just want to say I'm so
- 25:36Speaker 5: glad that pacey gritsy is no longer a thing anyway.
- 25:39Speaker 4: But to also just caveat that, you need to be
- 25:43Speaker 4: really careful because while it was abolished, if it is
- 25:46Speaker 4: still in your employment contract. While not legal, your workplace
- 25:51Speaker 4: might have some type of ramifications for talking about it.
- 25:55Speaker 4: If you signed a contract that has that in it,
- 25:58Speaker 4: it would be Yeah, that pre dates when pace Chrissy
- 26:02Speaker 4: was not allowed to be included in your contracts. So
- 26:05Speaker 4: now I want to talk about pay, and I really
- 26:08Speaker 4: want to be completely transparent about it, like you guys
- 26:11Speaker 4: know me well enough by now, But I also don't
- 26:13Speaker 4: want you to get any trouble. Yeah, so I want
- 26:15Speaker 4: to make sure that you're protected, so know that. But
- 26:17Speaker 4: also maybe next you know, salary review or like job reviewed,
- 26:21Speaker 4: be like you need to remove that. Yeah anyway, sorry
- 26:24Speaker 4: back to you, bet, because I didn't want anyone to
- 26:25Speaker 4: be like, oh, yeah, we can just talk about it.
- 26:28Speaker 5: Sure, that's great. Sorry great, No, no, no, no, but
- 26:31Speaker 5: basically sh Sharon Sharon told Kim that Kim, well, actually,
- 26:35Speaker 5: Kim asked Sharon how much everyone was getting paid because
- 26:38Speaker 5: they're doing all the exactly literally exact same role. Yeah,
- 26:41Speaker 5: it's the exactly role, the exact same title. And Sharon
- 26:44Speaker 5: told Kim this, how much we get paid? Kim realized
- 26:47Speaker 5: she's getting paid twelve k less wow for no absolutely
- 26:53Speaker 5: no reason. Anyway, when the boss has found out that
- 26:56Speaker 5: Kim knew. Blah blah blah. They went to Sharon. They
- 26:58Speaker 5: were like, you shouldn't be They're trying to intimidate share it,
- 27:02Speaker 5: to intimidate that disgusting, despicable. I hate it.
- 27:06Speaker 4: In if yeh y yes about it, I'll give you
- 27:11Speaker 4: a boss a call and be like, hey, so beg.
- 27:13Speaker 4: I just was wondering, were you doing this or now?
- 27:17Speaker 5: Yeah, And luckily Sharon stuck up for herself and she
- 27:21Speaker 5: was like, basically, I just think that if you don't
- 27:25Speaker 5: have in your contract you are allowed to be talking
- 27:27Speaker 5: about it, then you can shout it from the rooftops.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Because there are people out there who have maybe been
- 27:32Speaker 5: loyal to a company for so long, absolutely not in
- 27:35Speaker 5: so many different situations and things like that, and they're
- 27:36Speaker 5: getting paid less than everyone else. They don't know about it.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Everyone needs no pay secrecy.
- 27:41Speaker 4: I don't like it, but hate secrecy only benefits the
- 27:43Speaker 4: employer exactly, It doesn't benefit anybody.
- 27:47Speaker 5: I completely agree. But to answer our listener's question, should
- 27:52Speaker 5: you confront or look for your job? I say both.
- 27:54Speaker 5: You should definitely you should definitely be confronting and definitely bex.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Start a riot angry.
- 28:03Speaker 4: We're not having it. How would you go about that?
- 28:07Speaker 5: Though, I'll be like, well, actually maybe you would find
- 28:10Speaker 5: a job VERSU secure job. And then when they're like, hey,
- 28:12Speaker 5: oh you're leaving.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Why you're leaving?
- 28:14Speaker 5: Like, because you guys are so sneaky, everyone knows.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And I'm going to put this on glass door. I
- 28:20Speaker 2: was going to say, I just gonna say, put it
- 28:22Speaker 2: on glass door, put it somewhere like, jess, what would
- 28:25Speaker 2: you do? The one thing I will say is that
- 28:29Speaker 2: with the workload thing, I think sometimes you can look
- 28:32Speaker 2: at a coworker and it's easier, Oh, they seem like
- 28:35Speaker 2: they do nothing. But unless you're.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Everyone looks at me that way, they're not wrong. But
- 28:39Speaker 4: everybody does look at me that way. Yes, but unless
- 28:42Speaker 4: you're like sitting like cyber do you know what I mean? Like,
- 28:45Speaker 4: I think that it's easy to go, oh, it seems
- 28:46Speaker 4: like they're doing half my workload, but you don't necessarily know,
- 28:50Speaker 4: So I don't know that I hard to quantify completely,
- 28:52Speaker 4: So I don't know that I would build that into
- 28:54Speaker 4: my argument because I think that sometimes jobs that seem
- 28:57Speaker 4: like they're not taxing actually have like an overwhlming amount
- 29:00Speaker 4: of just like tedious things or whatever that you might
- 29:03Speaker 4: not know that they're dealing with. So I wouldn't build
- 29:05Speaker 4: that into your argument just because it might be easy
- 29:07Speaker 4: for them to refute that and say, oh, actually they're
- 29:10Speaker 4: doing X, Y L, and you go, oh crap, Like
- 29:13Speaker 4: now I don't stand on completely, but if you're doing
- 29:17Speaker 4: similar roles, the pay should absolutely be similar. There's really
- 29:21Speaker 4: no good reason, as you said, outside of maybe historical
- 29:25Speaker 4: experience or seniority. But even then you kind of go,
- 29:28Speaker 4: if we're doing the same thing, like, how much does
- 29:30Speaker 4: that really factor in? I think that I would it
- 29:33Speaker 4: depends how much you like your job. Really like, if
- 29:36Speaker 4: you like your job, if you like what you're doing,
- 29:38Speaker 4: you like your colleagues, then it is worth I think
- 29:40Speaker 4: having the conversation before looking elsewhere and saying, hey, like,
- 29:43Speaker 4: I've been made aware of this disparity, can you please
- 29:46Speaker 4: do it to me why that exists? I think giving
- 29:49Speaker 4: them an opportunity to say, you know, this person maybe
- 29:54Speaker 4: is managing some of the team back in Europe remotely,
- 29:56Speaker 4: or this person has ten years more experience than you,
- 30:00Speaker 4: or whatever the case may be. And if there's nothing,
- 30:03Speaker 4: if there's no good reason, which it feels like maybe
- 30:05Speaker 4: there's a good chance that's the case. You're going to
- 30:07Speaker 4: catch them out and they're going to be like, ah,
- 30:09Speaker 4: they are, and you're gonna be like, gotcha, and then
- 30:13Speaker 4: you can kind of, I think, launch into the negotiation
- 30:15Speaker 4: and be like, this is really unreasonable. If you can't
- 30:17Speaker 4: give me a reason as to why you're being paid more,
- 30:20Speaker 4: I don't see any reason that you should not be
- 30:23Speaker 4: matching ching salary to this. See what they say, hopefully, Oh,
- 30:27Speaker 4: we're so sorry. You're totally right, We'll sort that out.
- 30:29Speaker 4: If they don't, that's when I would personally start looking
- 30:32Speaker 4: front the job, especially if it's like for like like
- 30:35Speaker 4: I get so frustrated. I also feel like I don't
- 30:39Speaker 4: like being super confrontational in these situations because it doesn't
- 30:43Speaker 4: help you. Like marching into your boss's office and being like,
- 30:46Speaker 4: what are you doing? Is not a great idea. I
- 30:49Speaker 4: would actually step back for a hot second, and I'd
- 30:51Speaker 4: be like, Okay, how long have I been with this organization?
- 30:53Speaker 4: Let's go back to basics. Let's look at my employment contract.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Am I fulfilling everything in that contract? Fantastic? What am
- 31:00Speaker 4: I doing above and beyond that? Because we all know
- 31:02Speaker 4: if we've been with a company for a couple of years.
- 31:04Speaker 4: We might be adding a few things here and there,
- 31:07Speaker 4: or like we might have lost a few responsibilities and
- 31:10Speaker 4: had them replaced with something else. We want to understand
- 31:14Speaker 4: whether the job title you have today is still reflective
- 31:17Speaker 4: of the role that you perform, because it is a
- 31:20Speaker 4: lot more persuasive to have an argument that's not only
- 31:24Speaker 4: should I get paid more, but also I have been
- 31:26Speaker 4: thinking I need a role title upgrade and a salary upgrade.
- 31:30Speaker 4: What are we talking about. I would, then, from my perspective,
- 31:34Speaker 4: schedule a meeting with your manager and say, hey, I'd
- 31:36Speaker 4: really like to schedule a meeting to discuss my salary.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Give them enough notice and say I would love to
- 31:43Speaker 4: sit down with you at lunchtime on Friday, or a
- 31:45Speaker 4: two pm on Friday. Actually, definitely a two pm on Friday,
- 31:48Speaker 4: because we don't need to do salary negotiations in our
- 31:51Speaker 4: lunch break. That is a work conversation. So we're going
- 31:54Speaker 4: to have our Friday conversation, and then the day before
- 31:58Speaker 4: or the morning of, you're going to send a really
- 32:00Speaker 4: nice email to your manager, and that email is going
- 32:03Speaker 4: to outline everything that you want to talk to them
- 32:05Speaker 4: about in a really clear, concise way, and you're going
- 32:09Speaker 4: to deliver it in the nicest possible way, so you're
- 32:11Speaker 4: going to say, Hi, Beck I just wanted to send
- 32:13Speaker 4: you an email ahead of our meeting because, as you know,
- 32:17Speaker 4: I would like to discuss my pay, but I want
- 32:19Speaker 4: to make sure before this meeting to make sure it's.
- 32:21Speaker 2: As productive as possible.
- 32:23Speaker 4: We're on the same page. I would like to let
- 32:26Speaker 4: you know that I have done some research, so we're
- 32:28Speaker 4: going to do external research as well. I've looked at
- 32:30Speaker 4: the Hayes Salary Guide.
- 32:32Speaker 2: I've looked at Glassdoor, I've looked at.
- 32:33Speaker 4: What seeks remuneration for similar roles are and the role
- 32:37Speaker 4: that I'm currently doing, it sits at X. Obviously, don't
- 32:40Speaker 4: use that statistic if it's not going to work for you.
- 32:43Speaker 4: But like I've done some reviews, and in a perfect world,
- 32:46Speaker 4: that review will say that you're being underpaid. So you
- 32:49Speaker 4: put that on the table and say so, I would
- 32:51Speaker 4: really like to discuss my salary in light of this.
- 32:54Speaker 4: I also would like to discuss the discrepancy between my
- 32:58Speaker 4: role and another impartployee's role, and I want to have
- 33:01Speaker 4: a discussion around pay parity in the organization. What does
- 33:06Speaker 4: that look, Like, how can that be remediated? Because right
- 33:09Speaker 4: now I don't feel very engaged. I don't feel like
- 33:12Speaker 4: I'm being valued, and obviously we all want a really
- 33:16Speaker 4: nice outcome. Look forward to the conversation because that gets
- 33:20Speaker 4: all your information out before having to go and like
- 33:24Speaker 4: we're just girls at the end of the day, like
- 33:26Speaker 4: sitting down and being like, I need to advocate for myself. Like,
- 33:30Speaker 4: don't get me wrong. If you can do that, that
- 33:31Speaker 4: is absolutely fantastic. But you're also giving your boss some
- 33:35Speaker 4: time because often in these situations where there's levels of management,
- 33:41Speaker 4: it's not your manager who makes that decision. So like
- 33:44Speaker 4: in my organization, great Jess might come to me about salary,
- 33:47Speaker 4: I do.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Call the shots.
- 33:48Speaker 4: That's the right decision, But like Jess sending an email
- 33:52Speaker 4: because you know Beck might be her manager, because Beck
- 33:54Speaker 4: then has to go to Meat to advocate for that.
- 33:57Speaker 4: I'm giving you all of the tools and resources you
- 34:00Speaker 4: need to advocate for me on my behalf. Does that
- 34:03Speaker 4: make sense? So like if your manager maybe goes, oh yeah,
- 34:06Speaker 4: I just wants to pay increase, what are we going
- 34:09Speaker 4: to do? Like at least I have put all of
- 34:11Speaker 4: the information on a page and Beck could forward that
- 34:15Speaker 4: to my manager and be like, she's got a really
- 34:17Speaker 4: good point, like this isn't actually acceptable and outlining all
- 34:21Speaker 4: of that, and at the same time I would be
- 34:23Speaker 4: looking for another role. I think these conversations are really
- 34:26Speaker 4: constructive and help us grow, but I also think that
- 34:31Speaker 4: it sounds like they don't value you in the way
- 34:33Speaker 4: that you deserve to be valued. And just because you've
- 34:36Speaker 4: quote uncovered this and it might be remediated, doesn't mean
- 34:39Speaker 4: that they are going to continue to value you. I
- 34:42Speaker 4: would find an organization that backs the hell out of you, yes,
- 34:46Speaker 4: but have this conversation make them pay you more and
- 34:49Speaker 4: than the week after they've done that, leave.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Completely agree sweet sweet revenge, which.
- 34:54Speaker 2: All that maybe undage. I feel lucky.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Yes, Kim was back paid in my story.
- 34:59Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely absolutely back pays another thing to negotiate. So
- 35:04Speaker 4: I just think it's it's wildly unfair and I hate
- 35:07Speaker 4: that these things happen, and I'm really sorry, Like I'm
- 35:11Speaker 4: really sorry that you have to advocate for yourself when
- 35:15Speaker 4: your management team should be looking at the overall remuneration structures.
- 35:20Speaker 4: I know that over time things get a little bit off,
- 35:22Speaker 4: but it's their job to ensure pay parody for lack
- 35:25Speaker 4: for like roles.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, totally agree. Insane and if you want to
- 35:30Speaker 2: leave us a money dilemma. By the way, we've had
- 35:32Speaker 2: a few people dming us recently, being like, hey, go
- 35:35Speaker 2: to our website, She's the money to talk to you, and
- 35:37Speaker 2: then there's a podcast page. Go to that and you
- 35:39Speaker 2: can literally drop your voice notes straight there.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Yeah, you can record on your phone, you can record
- 35:43Speaker 4: on your desktop. It's a ten out of ten idea.
- 35:46Speaker 4: You can also leave love notes there, so you can
- 35:48Speaker 4: just leave us little voice memos, which some people do
- 35:51Speaker 4: when we find really fun.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Would you guys like to get to the DM that
- 35:56Speaker 4: we got this week?
- 35:57Speaker 2: Absolutely?
- 35:58Speaker 4: Oh I've been waiting for this one because I feel
- 35:59Speaker 4: like we've got thoughts, you know. So this week where
- 36:02Speaker 4: we received a DM, they said, hey, she's on the money.
- 36:06Speaker 4: I have a money dilemma. I grew up very poor,
- 36:09Speaker 4: coming from government housing where money was scarce, and I
- 36:12Speaker 4: never asked for money as a kid or even now,
- 36:14Speaker 4: because I know money is a struggle. My partner grew
- 36:18Speaker 4: up wealthy and got what he asked for whenever he wanted.
- 36:21Speaker 4: Is it fair for me to ask him to stop
- 36:24Speaker 4: asking his parents for financial help. I feel he doesn't
- 36:27Speaker 4: value money and doesn't understand how to work and save
- 36:30Speaker 4: for the things he wants. He continuously goes straight for
- 36:34Speaker 4: the bank of his parents when he wants something. It
- 36:37Speaker 4: is never for needs. I can't tell if it is
- 36:39Speaker 4: a red flag or if my jealousy is just showing
- 36:42Speaker 4: up through him. I like that you're thinking about you know,
- 36:47Speaker 4: am I just envious about this situation? We are fair,
- 36:50Speaker 4: it's not. It's not you being envious. I think in
- 36:53Speaker 4: this situation, wanting people to value money, especially if you're
- 36:57Speaker 4: in a relationship together and you're building a life together,
- 37:00Speaker 4: think is a very big shared value set validating you there. No,
- 37:05Speaker 4: it's not envy. Yeah, like I'm a little bit jealous
- 37:08Speaker 4: if someone was just going to give me free money,
- 37:09Speaker 4: I get it.
- 37:10Speaker 2: But this is a bit deeper than that.
- 37:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree. It really does sound like me and
- 37:14Speaker 5: my best friend lives so week because we do grow
- 37:16Speaker 5: up completely differently. She came from a very wealthy family
- 37:19Speaker 5: and they did work very hard for their wealth, and
- 37:22Speaker 5: I grew up not so well off. But we're both
- 37:25Speaker 5: like exactly the same, and so I think living with her,
- 37:28Speaker 5: we lived in there for a few years, and there
- 37:30Speaker 5: were definitely moments where I was like, oh, it's it
- 37:33Speaker 5: kind of like hurts a little bit in my belly
- 37:35Speaker 5: to see that she might be given opportunities that I
- 37:39Speaker 5: might not.
- 37:40Speaker 4: That would have been challenging with such a close friend.
- 37:42Speaker 5: It is, but it's also like I also tend to
- 37:46Speaker 5: remind myself that, like we we are exactly the same.
- 37:49Speaker 5: But I'm very very grateful for my upbringing. I'm very
- 37:51Speaker 5: very grateful for everything that led me here, and if
- 37:54Speaker 5: even one tiny thing changed, and I wouldn't be exactly
- 37:57Speaker 5: why I am today, And I quite like exactly. I
- 37:58Speaker 5: love that you know what I mean much back and
- 38:01Speaker 5: so and but it is still it's nice to have,
- 38:04Speaker 5: like a little bit I know that if something went wrong,
- 38:06Speaker 5: Hopefully it's the same for a listener, if something really
- 38:08Speaker 5: really went wrong, you do kind of have access to that. Hopefully.
- 38:11Speaker 5: I can imagine that if you're in that situation, it's
- 38:13Speaker 5: nice to know it's there. But I do understand the
- 38:16Speaker 5: feeling of being like, wow, like I've got to work
- 38:19Speaker 5: for this and you can kind of just ask for
- 38:21Speaker 5: it and you kind of get it.
- 38:22Speaker 4: That does suck.
- 38:23Speaker 5: But honestly, if you're trying to teach you know, financial
- 38:28Speaker 5: resilience and things like that. I can I can understand
- 38:31Speaker 5: why you maybe want to get your partner to not
- 38:35Speaker 5: do that as much.
- 38:36Speaker 6: But I think it's okay that like really bad, Like,
- 38:39Speaker 6: I think it's fine, but it isn't a valuable thing
- 38:42Speaker 6: to learn, like the resilience and independence financially and stuff
- 38:46Speaker 6: like that.
- 38:47Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't think that either of them is wrong. Like,
- 38:50Speaker 2: I understand that it's very frustrating if you and your
- 38:54Speaker 2: partner have different perspectives on money and handling that, and
- 38:57Speaker 2: if you're e'en like you're obviously both by products the
- 39:00Speaker 2: environments that you grew up in. And I can see
- 39:02Speaker 2: how for someone who's had to work really hard for everything,
- 39:04Speaker 2: seeing someone just be handed something would be frustrating. And
- 39:07Speaker 2: you I can understand being like, well, you're not going
- 39:11Speaker 2: to learn because you're just being bailed out every time.
- 39:14Speaker 2: But that being said, like, I don't think I think
- 39:18Speaker 2: I've said this before, I don't necessarily think it's reasonable
- 39:20Speaker 2: to expect your partner to change fundamental things about themselves
- 39:24Speaker 2: and fundamental things about their upbringing. I think that it's
- 39:28Speaker 2: absolutely worthy of a conversation and saying, hey, like, I
- 39:31Speaker 2: feel like you're not respecting the goals as much as
- 39:34Speaker 2: I am because you're not prioritizing them. You're spending on
- 39:37Speaker 2: other things and then hoping that your family will bail
- 39:39Speaker 2: them out. I think that that's a very valid conversation
- 39:41Speaker 2: to have, But you also need to recognize that the
- 39:44Speaker 2: case might just be that you have different value sets
- 39:47Speaker 2: and different experiences with money, and that they may be
- 39:50Speaker 2: too different for you to be able to operate together
- 39:54Speaker 2: because ultimately, like you're hopefully assuming you want to follow
- 39:58Speaker 2: a traditional you know, trajectory, going to be your partner
- 40:00Speaker 2: for the rest of your life, and it may be
- 40:02Speaker 2: that that's not something that they can or want to
- 40:04Speaker 2: change about themselves. And on the flip side, I feel like,
- 40:07Speaker 2: if their parents are in a wealthy enough position that
- 40:09Speaker 2: they can help them out financially, don't we all really
- 40:13Speaker 2: want to build generational wealth so that we can look
- 40:16Speaker 2: after our future generations. Where I was going to go
- 40:19Speaker 2: with it, like if I worked really hard and I'm
- 40:22Speaker 2: a multimillionaire. From my mouth to God's lips, you know,
- 40:31Speaker 2: this is why.
- 40:35Speaker 4: She's just been trying to kiss up.
- 40:38Speaker 2: You want to make out with him? He hasn't been
- 40:41Speaker 2: listening to me, you know, Like if I found myself
- 40:45Speaker 2: in the position where I was wealthy, of course I
- 40:47Speaker 2: would want to support my children and give them every
- 40:50Speaker 2: opportunity and whatever. So I can't really fault your partner
- 40:54Speaker 2: or their family for being in that position. I think
- 40:57Speaker 2: what we really have to do is reflect on is
- 41:00Speaker 2: this going to be something that's going to bother you
- 41:02Speaker 2: long term? Because you may not be able to reconcile
- 41:06Speaker 2: the difference, do you know what I mean? I think
- 41:07Speaker 2: that you're both in the right and honestly, like I
- 41:09Speaker 2: grew up in a less prosperous household, and like I
- 41:14Speaker 2: would be the same, Like I would be pissed off
- 41:16Speaker 2: that if someone was not putting in the hard yard
- 41:18Speaker 2: then I felt like I was, like, I fully get that,
- 41:22Speaker 2: but I also think that you can't necessarily expect that
- 41:27Speaker 2: to change, Like I don't know that. I think that
- 41:29Speaker 2: that's a reasonable level of expectation. Does that make exact
- 41:33Speaker 2: I think I'm contradicting. No, I totally get it. I
- 41:35Speaker 2: think looking at it from the flip side, we all
- 41:39Speaker 2: want the best for our kids, right, Like and if
- 41:42Speaker 2: his parents, I don't know, I look at myself, right,
- 41:46Speaker 2: Like gift giving is a love language of mine, Like
- 41:49Speaker 2: I love it. I bring gifts for the team, I
- 41:52Speaker 2: bring gifts for my friends, like you best believe, Like
- 41:56Speaker 2: my baby he needs something and I have the ability
- 41:59Speaker 2: to get it for him. Not only do I want to,
- 42:02Speaker 2: but it gives me a deep sense of validation to
- 42:05Speaker 2: go I did that, Like, yeah, I got that, Like
- 42:07Speaker 2: I don't know, I just I feel as though maybe
- 42:11Speaker 2: his parents have like look at it, right, Like, let's
- 42:14Speaker 2: take your situation, Jesse.
- 42:15Speaker 4: You said I didn't grow up in a prosperous environment.
- 42:18Speaker 4: If you then had kids and you were super prosperous,
- 42:21Speaker 4: you often find that the parents who grew up with
- 42:25Speaker 4: not much then want to give their kids absolutely everything,
- 42:28Speaker 4: and they're probably getting a lot of validation from it.
- 42:30Speaker 4: So he might have just grown up with this situation
- 42:33Speaker 4: of being like, oh I really want this, and mom
- 42:34Speaker 4: and dad being like, girl, oh boy, whatever, you can
- 42:37Speaker 4: have it. Like all he has to do is message
- 42:40Speaker 4: his parents and he's got it. Like that's fantastic. But
- 42:44Speaker 4: we also I get the NB side of it, like
- 42:46Speaker 4: if that exists, but I think it's also fair to
- 42:51Speaker 4: go we're not on the same page. Financially, and that's
- 42:53Speaker 4: where we need to zoom out. If that's part of
- 42:55Speaker 4: his money story, fine, let's sweep that to the side
- 42:58Speaker 4: for a minute. What are we working to wards together?
- 43:01Speaker 4: Are you saying that your partner right now just spends
- 43:04Speaker 4: his money really frivolously and then just asks his parents
- 43:06Speaker 4: for heaps of stuff and doesn't have a heap of savings,
- 43:09Speaker 4: but you have a heap of savings and you're trying
- 43:10Speaker 4: to save for a house and he says he's in,
- 43:12Speaker 4: but he's not really in because he's spending all his
- 43:14Speaker 4: money and seems to have the bank of Mum and
- 43:16Speaker 4: Dad backing up his spending behavior. Is that what you're saying,
- 43:19Speaker 4: or are you saying he's saving, he's investing, and you
- 43:22Speaker 4: know we're working towards this really secure financial future together.
- 43:26Speaker 4: I'm compromising a lot. I'm not getting all these things
- 43:28Speaker 4: that I want. He's saving all his money and just
- 43:31Speaker 4: texts his mum when he wants a new PlayStation, right, Like,
- 43:33Speaker 4: so he's not having to dip into savings and have
- 43:36Speaker 4: that level of compromise that you've got. Yeah, does that
- 43:39Speaker 4: make sense? So like that would annoy me too and
- 43:40Speaker 4: be like he's so unfair, Like I'm compromising, and you know,
- 43:44Speaker 4: at the end of the day, I'm not buying the
- 43:45Speaker 4: makeup and the shoes and the clothes that I want
- 43:48Speaker 4: because I'm trying to save for this house and he's
- 43:50Speaker 4: doing the same thing and saving. But then he's just
- 43:52Speaker 4: asking his mum for the stuff. Yeah, Like, oh, okay,
- 43:56Speaker 4: you need to have a conversation about this. And this
- 43:58Speaker 4: is about not only under standing each other's money stories,
- 44:01Speaker 4: but your shared values and what you're working towards together
- 44:06Speaker 4: and what that's going to look like. So is it
- 44:08Speaker 4: bad that he's using the bank of Mum and Dad.
- 44:11Speaker 4: I don't think so. And the reason I don't think
- 44:14Speaker 4: so is you never deeply know somebody else's money story.
- 44:18Speaker 4: And also, who are you to judge? Like, if you
- 44:22Speaker 4: could do that too, I'm sure you would. I live
- 44:25Speaker 4: in a world where I didn't grow up super rich.
- 44:28Speaker 4: My parents couldn't give me all of those things either.
- 44:31Speaker 4: I love everything that they did, but we weren't super wealthy.
- 44:36Speaker 4: On the flip side, I'm now starting to make more
- 44:39Speaker 4: money than I ever have before, and I'm trying to
- 44:41Speaker 4: balance this, Like I don't want my kid to be spoilt,
- 44:44Speaker 4: but I also want to make sure that he has
- 44:46Speaker 4: all of the things that I think he needs and deserves.
- 44:49Speaker 4: And so I am thinking, what do I do do
- 44:53Speaker 4: I invest for his future when he gets to eighteen?
- 44:56Speaker 4: Would I want him having access to money? The answer
- 44:59Speaker 4: actually between and Steve and I is no, we want
- 45:01Speaker 4: him to be older than that. But I know that
- 45:04Speaker 4: the world is a really tough place to live right now,
- 45:06Speaker 4: and I would like to be contributing towards a first
- 45:09Speaker 4: home deposit for him in the future. And I want
- 45:11Speaker 4: to do that for my other kids, And like, how
- 45:14Speaker 4: do I establish that so by the time, you know,
- 45:17Speaker 4: my son gets to the age where he's buying property.
- 45:19Speaker 4: I love that we could help, but I know that
- 45:22Speaker 4: that's not what his You know, lots of his friends
- 45:24Speaker 4: might be experiencing, or his partner might be experiencing. That
- 45:28Speaker 4: doesn't mean that it's the wrong thing for us to do.
- 45:31Speaker 4: And as his parent, if my son then had a
- 45:34Speaker 4: partner that said you need to stop that, I'd be like, oh,
- 45:37Speaker 4: I worked really hard to be able to give him this.
- 45:39Speaker 4: I worked really hard, and that was like my mission
- 45:42Speaker 4: and my driving force, And now you're telling me that
- 45:46Speaker 4: I can't give my son the things that I want
- 45:48Speaker 4: to give him. Does that make sense? And like, it
- 45:51Speaker 4: doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Like, just because I'm saying
- 45:56Speaker 4: that it can still happen doesn't mean it's not frustrating,
- 45:59Speaker 4: Like from the outside, Like you can be annoyed and beck,
- 46:01Speaker 4: you can look at your friend and be like, that's
- 46:03Speaker 4: so annoying. But then I think you know, if you
- 46:05Speaker 4: sat down with your friend's parents and said, like, oh,
- 46:07Speaker 4: why do you just give her stuff, they'd probably be like,
- 46:09Speaker 4: We're so proud to be able to do that, Like
- 46:11Speaker 4: it's so cool.
- 46:12Speaker 2: We worked so hard.
- 46:13Speaker 4: Like they might tell you stories about how they grew up,
- 46:17Speaker 4: and you know, maybe they've lost some businesses along the
- 46:19Speaker 4: way and then they did a new business and something
- 46:21Speaker 4: finally worked, and like everyone has this narrative and their
- 46:24Speaker 4: story that you don't know about. So I don't think
- 46:27Speaker 4: it's fair to judge it. But I also think it's
- 46:29Speaker 4: fair to have a conversation and say to your partner,
- 46:32Speaker 4: I'm feeling really uncomfortable about this, yeah, and that's fair.
- 46:35Speaker 4: Telling him to stop is a different conversation than going, hey,
- 46:40Speaker 4: i'm noticing that you're doing this a lot. Can we
- 46:42Speaker 4: talk about it? Like I feel real weird about it. Yeah,
- 46:44Speaker 4: Like have you always done this?
- 46:46Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 46:46Speaker 4: Like what does this mean?
- 46:48Speaker 2: Like how do you value money? What are you going
- 46:51Speaker 2: to do if your parents maybe aren't around one day? Yeah,
- 46:53Speaker 2: And because they can understand the fear that poor money
- 46:56Speaker 2: habits now might meet in the future when there's not
- 46:58Speaker 2: someone there to support you. You you could go, oh God,
- 47:01Speaker 2: what's going to happen if.
- 47:02Speaker 4: What's your plan for the future, Like your parents are
- 47:04Speaker 4: doing this for you, how are you planning on setting
- 47:07Speaker 4: up the same structure so that you can do that
- 47:08Speaker 4: for your kids?
- 47:09Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 47:09Speaker 4: Like is that the plan?
- 47:10Speaker 2: Like, I don't know.
- 47:11Speaker 4: I think there's a lot of money stories conversation, but
- 47:14Speaker 4: shared values and beliefs conversations that need to happen before
- 47:17Speaker 4: you go, hey, I don't like that you go to
- 47:19Speaker 4: the bank of mom and dad.
- 47:20Speaker 5: Sure, sometimes what you need is just validation, just someone
- 47:23Speaker 5: to be like, hey, I know I do this, and
- 47:24Speaker 5: I know that you could never and you don't have
- 47:26Speaker 5: access to that, but and I see that nothing's going
- 47:29Speaker 5: to change. But I see that, and that's like that's
- 47:31Speaker 5: enough sometimes to be like thanks, I'm going to keep
- 47:33Speaker 5: on keep an ony.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:35Speaker 4: But like also a rising tide lift soulships. So like,
- 47:39Speaker 4: if I'm doing well, hopefully the people around me are
- 47:43Speaker 4: then learning and benefiting from the fact that I'm doing
- 47:46Speaker 4: well and we can all rise together, Like I don't
- 47:48Speaker 4: want to rise if nobody else is ill, and what
- 47:52Speaker 4: everybody else say? We obviously asked a few questions, and
- 47:55Speaker 4: we said, is it a red flag for you if
- 47:57Speaker 4: your partner relies on their family for their wants? And
- 48:01Speaker 4: seventy four percent of you said, yep, feels like a dependency,
- 48:04Speaker 4: and twenty six percent of you said nope. Family help
- 48:06Speaker 4: is fine if it's available. Fair. Fair. We also asked,
- 48:11Speaker 4: would you ask your partner to stop relying on their parents?
- 48:14Speaker 4: Sixty percent of you said definitely, because it builds character,
- 48:17Speaker 4: and forty percent of you said nope. Their finances their choices.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I think once you start working towards shared goals, it's
- 48:24Speaker 2: definitely more valid because their finances are impacting your finances.
- 48:30Speaker 4: Yeah that I agree with that, Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 48:32Speaker 4: And like that's the conversation at hand, Like how does
- 48:35Speaker 4: this play into an US situation? Like you're not asking
- 48:38Speaker 4: his parents to buy you stuff, but you're just going, well,
- 48:41Speaker 4: what does this mean? Long term, sure, like, how is
- 48:44Speaker 4: this impacting our financial goals? We also said, come on,
- 48:47Speaker 4: give us your two cents where you want to know.
- 48:49Speaker 4: What are your thoughts on this. One person said, parents
- 48:53Speaker 4: love language. Maybe gift giving, which is quite funny, That's
- 48:56Speaker 4: what I said, maybe the one thing of the few
- 48:58Speaker 4: things they feel they can do now their kids are adults.
- 49:02Speaker 4: Someone else said focus on your own mindset rather than
- 49:05Speaker 4: your partners. Another person said, my concern would be that
- 49:08Speaker 4: he has not matured and is irresponsible with money, not
- 49:12Speaker 4: a grown man trait that I want. I think that's good,
- 49:15Speaker 4: but also have we asked him? Yeah, right, Like I
- 49:19Speaker 4: get that you feel that might be irresponsible. And I'm
- 49:22Speaker 4: not even trying to defend him. I'm just trying to
- 49:24Speaker 4: see it from the flip side. But you might see
- 49:26Speaker 4: that as irresponsible, and he might go, oh, we've only
- 49:28Speaker 4: been together for like a year. I haven't really told you.
- 49:31Speaker 4: But I invest and I save everything. A mum and
- 49:33Speaker 4: dad know that I work really hard in the background,
- 49:35Speaker 4: and they're like real proud of that. So like, if
- 49:37Speaker 4: I want something, they don't want me spending my investments,
- 49:40Speaker 4: so they just buy it. Yeah, And you'd be like, oh,
- 49:43Speaker 4: that's a different story, and I'm not saying it makes
- 49:45Speaker 4: it right or wrong. It doesn't. That would also annoy me.
- 49:47Speaker 4: I'd be like, oh, I'm so frustrated, Like I wish
- 49:49Speaker 4: I had that, but yeah, it's just there's lots of
- 49:52Speaker 4: different things floating around.
- 49:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:54Speaker 4: Someone said, girl, that's called intergenerational wealth.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Someone else said, in this economy, all the help you
- 50:00Speaker 4: can get, honestly fair, Like, if your partner was getting
- 50:05Speaker 4: gifted stuff, you'd be like, yep, slate, no worries.
- 50:08Speaker 2: If someone had the ability to do that for me, like,
- 50:09Speaker 2: I'd be back pass right please.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Someone else said, I feel like you could just have
- 50:14Speaker 4: an open conversation about it with them. Then it's true,
- 50:17Speaker 4: more conversations about money more often, please. Yeah. Someone else said,
- 50:21Speaker 4: I'd feel the same as you, but it also doesn't
- 50:24Speaker 4: affect you.
- 50:24Speaker 2: So maybe your values just done aligne. It's a hard conversation,
- 50:29Speaker 2: but it's one that you have to have.
- 50:31Speaker 4: And then somebody else said, I would suggest having a
- 50:34Speaker 4: chat with a therapist because you might have developed a
- 50:36Speaker 4: scarcity relationship with money.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Wow, it's very cerebral but true. Yeah, that's true.
- 50:42Speaker 4: It's true. I feel like that's probably a good place
- 50:44Speaker 4: to leave it. I feel like always talking about it.
- 50:47Speaker 4: I mean you could even talk to like a girlfriend
- 50:49Speaker 4: about it, or just having chats about money in general
- 50:52Speaker 4: is really good. Like really, we all come out of
- 50:55Speaker 4: it feeling fresher, like you were saying before, even just
- 50:57Speaker 4: someone being like, oh, I'm doing this, but like I
- 51:00Speaker 4: acknowledge that, Like Becky, you're not in that position right now,
- 51:02Speaker 4: You're oh, thanks, Like at least I feel like sometimes
- 51:06Speaker 4: when we talk about money, there's an underlying tone of like,
- 51:09Speaker 4: I think everyone should X y Z, Like, oh, I'm
- 51:12Speaker 4: buying my first home. You're like, I'm not in a
- 51:14Speaker 4: position to buy my first home. Does the person I'm
- 51:16Speaker 4: talking to think that I should be doing that because
- 51:19Speaker 4: like I haven't saved for that, Like what do I do?
- 51:21Speaker 4: And I think that, Yes, sometimes just acknowledging that everyone
- 51:25Speaker 4: is in the same position can be really constructive.
- 51:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I completely agree. You wouldn't believe it. Sometimes
- 51:31Speaker 5: the answer is communication.
- 51:34Speaker 4: Well I didn't see that. That's crazy. That is a
- 51:38Speaker 4: perfect place to leave it. Thank you for joining us
- 51:41Speaker 4: for our not that spooky episode of Friday's She's on
- 51:45Speaker 4: the Money. We will endeavor to try harder next year.
- 51:49Speaker 4: But yeah, spooky season.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Greetings.
