- 0:05Speaker 1: Apodjay production. We begin today by acknowledging the traditional custodians
- 0:13Speaker 1: of the land on which we gather today and pay
- 0:15Speaker 1: our respects to their elders past and present. We extend
- 0:19Speaker 1: that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's here today.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Welcome to the Grow and Glow Podcast. I'm Ashy, I'm Kiara.
- 0:28Speaker 1: This is a podcast where we learn, laugh, and level
- 0:31Speaker 1: up together. Let's go deep, let the emotions flow, and
- 0:34Speaker 1: find the lessons to grow and Glow.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Nothing is off the table with Grow and Glow, and
- 0:38Speaker 2: we're here to be your expander. Welcome back to Wacky Wednesday.
- 0:45Speaker 2: It's day for a nice little episode, probably be a
- 0:49Speaker 2: shorter one, but nice pick me up. And I think
- 0:51Speaker 2: this was a suggestion in the forum. We're calling it
- 0:54Speaker 2: notes to our younger self, but it's almost like mine's
- 0:57Speaker 2: more advice that I would give to my younger self
- 0:59Speaker 2: and yours is a beautiful letter.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And I think it's really cool that we both interpreted
- 1:02Speaker 1: it in our own way, like we had the time,
- 1:05Speaker 1: all of what we wanted the podcast episode to be,
- 1:06Speaker 1: and we both went in there and filled it out,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and we've kind of both put our own spin cool.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I think this task that you've done of writing a
- 1:13Speaker 2: letter to your younger self is a really beautiful task
- 1:16Speaker 2: that everyone listening can do. And it's just like, I
- 1:19Speaker 2: don't know, it's like nurturing the little girl inside you,
- 1:22Speaker 2: the woman inside you, Like it's just really nice. When
- 1:24Speaker 2: I read yours, I was like.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Oh, and reflecting back, like we're just so hard on ourselves,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I know, like we really can be our own harshest critic.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, life is so much nice that you can
- 1:36Speaker 2: be nicer to yourself. And if you don't respect yourself
- 1:39Speaker 2: and love yourself and be kind to yourself, like, how
- 1:41Speaker 2: can you expect anyone else to Exactly? You have to
- 1:43Speaker 2: set the example and the standard of how you want
- 1:45Speaker 2: to be treated. And even just forgiving yourself.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I feel like this is something that so many people
- 1:49Speaker 1: struggle with, Like we're all not.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Perfect and we've all made mistakes.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's every single person and only we can
- 1:56Speaker 1: make the choice to forgive ourselves.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, So doing a letters a beautiful way to
- 2:00Speaker 2: actually get it out of paper. When you're writing this letter,
- 2:03Speaker 2: and you might not fully believe it yet, like it's
- 2:05Speaker 2: just the start. It's the start of being conscious, being aware,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and like just putting the things in place to practice
- 2:10Speaker 2: more self love and eventually like it will just feel
- 2:13Speaker 2: so natural. It's like when you learn a new skill,
- 2:15Speaker 2: you get a new job, or you're trying to break
- 2:18Speaker 2: an old habit or implement a new one, Like it
- 2:19Speaker 2: takes time your body to get used to it, know
- 2:22Speaker 2: that it's safe though, that it's okay, and for it
- 2:24Speaker 2: to start feeling good.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Later on and even rather than visualizing yourself as you
- 2:27Speaker 1: are now, like when I wrote mine, I was visualizing
- 2:29Speaker 1: me as a little girl, So it makes it feel
- 2:31Speaker 1: like you're writing it to your daughter, like a little
- 2:33Speaker 1: girl you see at the playground and walk over to you.
- 2:34Speaker 1: So it just makes you have more compassion when you're
- 2:36Speaker 1: writing as well.
- 2:37Speaker 2: You'd be so kind to your own kids. And the
- 2:39Speaker 2: little girl was like crying the park, Like what would
- 2:41Speaker 2: you say to her? Exactly? Yeah, do you want to
- 2:43Speaker 2: go first and read your letter?
- 2:45Speaker 1: Well, now I'm going to probably get emotional anyway, High
- 2:48Speaker 1: little Kiara. I wrote this note to you because I
- 2:52Speaker 1: know how much you struggle with self worth, how anxious
- 2:55Speaker 1: you are and full of self doubt. I'm here to
- 2:58Speaker 1: tell you the confidence you see in others is also
- 3:00Speaker 1: inside of you. Don't be afraid to let others see
- 3:03Speaker 1: your sparkle shine, be discouraged or worried about not being
- 3:07Speaker 1: good enough in someone else's eyes, because no matter what
- 3:10Speaker 1: you do, someone will make up in their own minds
- 3:13Speaker 1: anyway what they think of you. But this isn't their
- 3:16Speaker 1: life to live. It's yours, And believe it or not,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you are finally in a place where you are so
- 3:21Speaker 1: connected to yourself, so confident in yourself. So please don't
- 3:25Speaker 1: waste any more years feeling like you are not enough, because,
- 3:28Speaker 1: my darling, you're.
- 3:29Speaker 2: More than enough.
- 3:31Speaker 1: The love and approval you are hoping to get outside
- 3:34Speaker 1: of yourself is deep within you. When you're a little baby,
- 3:37Speaker 1: you love yourself unconditionally. When you were a toddler, you
- 3:41Speaker 1: were silly and goofy, and you love yourself no matter
- 3:44Speaker 1: what others thought. Other people's beliefs and opinions came in
- 3:48Speaker 1: and started to morph that pure mind of yours. All
- 3:50Speaker 1: you need to do is slow down, get more in
- 3:53Speaker 1: touch with yourself and move from your heart, listen to
- 3:57Speaker 1: your gut intuition, and love yourself so much that you
- 4:00Speaker 1: truly don't mind if others don't like you. As long
- 4:03Speaker 1: as you're moving in a way that may yourself proud.
- 4:06Speaker 1: They can think what they want to think. Crazy thing
- 4:08Speaker 1: is what anyone else thinks of you, and even what
- 4:11Speaker 1: you think of yourself is only a persona. We are
- 4:14Speaker 1: all just beings with ideas we've made up in our
- 4:16Speaker 1: own minds of who we are. You are going to
- 4:19Speaker 1: have one really hard year in twenty twenty two, one
- 4:22Speaker 1: of the hardest years of your life. You're going to
- 4:24Speaker 1: get to a point where you have no choice but
- 4:27Speaker 1: to do this work because you are going to feel
- 4:29Speaker 1: depressed and have regular panic attacks. Always trust life is
- 4:33Speaker 1: giving you what you need in the right moments, because
- 4:36Speaker 1: that's exactly what this test is. Even though it feels
- 4:39Speaker 1: really big, really tough, and like your whole world is
- 4:42Speaker 1: falling apart, remain grateful, grateful for your incredible husband. He
- 4:47Speaker 1: will help you through this chapter more than you can
- 4:50Speaker 1: ever imagine. Your beautiful kids will continue to help you
- 4:54Speaker 1: smile on days where you didn't even think it was possible,
- 4:57Speaker 1: and your amazing friends will help you to put back
- 5:00Speaker 1: together the shattered pieces of your heart again. If slow
- 5:05Speaker 1: will completely transform your life, it will make you reevaluate everything.
- 5:09Speaker 1: It will make you reassess everything and shift you to
- 5:12Speaker 1: a lifestyle that is so much more aligned with yourself.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I can't read because my eyes. If you want to
- 5:20Speaker 1: time ps you eventually do, learn to tune in, listen
- 5:25Speaker 1: to your heart, your intuition, and start being the playful, kind,
- 5:28Speaker 1: beautifully spirited, fun you again, the you that has always
- 5:32Speaker 1: been there but has been shut off for far too long.
- 5:34Speaker 1: So don't wait. Believe me, trust me.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Trust you.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Life is too short to let any outside ideas or
- 5:42Speaker 1: noise stop you from living your best and most aligned life.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You are here on this earth, given this incredible opportunity
- 5:50Speaker 1: called life. Enjoy every day and be thankful to just
- 5:53Speaker 1: be here, because every extra minute you get of this
- 5:55Speaker 1: life is a complete blessing within itself.
- 5:58Speaker 2: That's so beautiful, so nice, so nice, so nice for everyone,
- 6:03Speaker 2: Even though that s that's for you. I feel like
- 6:05Speaker 2: everyone listening they needed to hear that. Yeah, but all
- 6:08Speaker 2: the reminders in there, that's so beautiful. Even when you
- 6:10Speaker 2: like you look back at yourself.
- 6:12Speaker 1: You know, when you start this journey, or even when
- 6:15Speaker 1: you were younger, you just wish you had somebody to
- 6:17Speaker 1: like say those things to you, yes, to just be like,
- 6:20Speaker 1: don't wait. I feel like we all just like hold
- 6:22Speaker 1: on to all this resentment or hold back on the
- 6:24Speaker 1: way that we feel, or it's like built up energy
- 6:26Speaker 1: almost and like resistance. And as soon as you just
- 6:29Speaker 1: start to like, oh, just open yourself up, be your
- 6:32Speaker 1: true self, let yourself shine, like your life is just
- 6:35Speaker 1: so much better.
- 6:38Speaker 2: So interesting to you how it normally takes Like and
- 6:41Speaker 2: this is a belief that I've had to kind of
- 6:43Speaker 2: break the cycle. And it was through a conversation I
- 6:46Speaker 2: had with my old coach Taylor. But I felt like
- 6:48Speaker 2: a lot of my pivotal moments have been through when
- 6:51Speaker 2: I've hit rock bottom and really hard times because the
- 6:55Speaker 2: universe kind of forces you to take a different path
- 6:57Speaker 2: and make big decisions. I'm going to him and saying, like,
- 7:00Speaker 2: you know, we're doing all this work and breaking all
- 7:02Speaker 2: these cycles so our kids have a better life. But like,
- 7:05Speaker 2: I'm really glad that I had that heard upbringing. I'm
- 7:07Speaker 2: really glad that all these tough things happen because it
- 7:09Speaker 2: shaped me to be who I am now. It's made
- 7:11Speaker 2: me so resilient and so strong and appreciate so much more.
- 7:15Speaker 2: How do I give my kids those lessons without them
- 7:17Speaker 2: having to go through the pain that I went through,
- 7:20Speaker 2: And he was just like, that's a limited belief that
- 7:22Speaker 2: you think that lessons have to come from pain. They
- 7:24Speaker 2: don't have to. But yeah, I think for us, like
- 7:26Speaker 2: a lot of it has come from those really hard times.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Well sometimes what happens too, I feel is like these
- 7:32Speaker 1: moments that we go through early in life, like they
- 7:34Speaker 1: shape us and you get stuck in your ways and
- 7:37Speaker 1: then life gives you these moments to just completely reassess.
- 7:41Speaker 1: But hopefully for our kids, because I don't go through
- 7:43Speaker 1: that hard shit, like, hopefully they can just be their
- 7:46Speaker 1: true self and feel connected to themselves the whole time, whereas,
- 7:49Speaker 1: like I know both of us have felt so out
- 7:51Speaker 1: of touch.
- 7:51Speaker 2: With ourselves throughout life. Yeah. Yeah, it's really exciting for
- 7:54Speaker 2: our kids just have a totally different experience. But it's
- 7:57Speaker 2: cool that we can share all of this and grow
- 8:00Speaker 2: and it has shaped us to be who we are
- 8:01Speaker 2: today definitely, And that's why now when the universe gives
- 8:04Speaker 2: me something really hard from experience, like my body, my mind,
- 8:08Speaker 2: my heart knows I will be okay and I'll come
- 8:10Speaker 2: out the other side. So that's when you have that
- 8:12Speaker 2: inner trust and knowing it helps you be grateful for
- 8:15Speaker 2: it rather than turn into a victim and hate the
- 8:17Speaker 2: world and think like, fuck, this isn't fair. It makes
- 8:20Speaker 2: you go caw. I don't know why this is happening
- 8:22Speaker 2: right now, but I know that I'll get to the
- 8:23Speaker 2: other side and I'll look back and be like, ah,
- 8:26Speaker 2: because I learned this, because I took this opportunity, because
- 8:28Speaker 2: I said no to that. I you know, whatever you
- 8:30Speaker 2: decided to do, it's a blessing.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely, I'm excited to hear yours.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yes, I wrote a few different ones down, so I'll
- 8:38Speaker 2: just read them out as I wrote them down. This
- 8:41Speaker 2: is like more advice that I would give Tyler growing up,
- 8:45Speaker 2: or i'd just give my younger self. You're exactly where
- 8:48Speaker 2: you're meant to be. There is no wrong path. The
- 8:51Speaker 2: path you chose felt right at the time, and even
- 8:53Speaker 2: if it didn't feel right, you chose it because it
- 8:55Speaker 2: had a higher purpose to expand and teach you something
- 8:58Speaker 2: that you needed to learn for your next evolution of you.
- 9:01Speaker 2: And I love that because you know how sometimes like
- 9:03Speaker 2: when people go, oh, you know the right decision, you
- 9:05Speaker 2: know what to do, like really go in Sometimes I'm
- 9:08Speaker 2: like I actually don't, and I feel lost. But you
- 9:12Speaker 2: still have to make a decision and just know whatever
- 9:15Speaker 2: decision you do make, even if you're not sure if
- 9:17Speaker 2: it's the right one, it is the right one, yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 2: because at that time that's what you chose. So even
- 9:22Speaker 2: if you weren't sure, there's one that you leant more
- 9:24Speaker 2: into and you took a chance with, and that leads
- 9:27Speaker 2: you to where you meant to be. So you just
- 9:29Speaker 2: have to know and trust my next one. There'll always
- 9:32Speaker 2: be someone prettier, richer, more popular, and smarter than you,
- 9:36Speaker 2: But it does not take away from the light that
- 9:38Speaker 2: you bring to this world. It doesn't make you ugly.
- 9:41Speaker 2: It doesn't make you less worthy or not as important either.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Comparing and trying to keep up with others will leave
- 9:47Speaker 2: you always feeling like you're not enough and dead inside.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Please don't waste your precious time on this. I just
- 9:52Speaker 2: feel like growing up, and I think it's even harder
- 9:56Speaker 2: in this day and age with young teenagers growing up
- 9:58Speaker 2: with social media is they always are going to see
- 10:00Speaker 2: everyone's highlight reel and there's always going to be someone
- 10:02Speaker 2: better than them, and it leaves you feeling not enough.
- 10:05Speaker 2: If you keep looking at everyone's highlight reels, not remembering
- 10:07Speaker 2: they too go through struggles, and they too have self
- 10:10Speaker 2: worth issues, and they doubt themselves and they go through
- 10:12Speaker 2: hard moments. You're always going to never feel enough. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I love that. Yeah, it's why the outside noise can
- 10:19Speaker 2: get so noisy, and that's why it's so important to
- 10:22Speaker 2: pull yourself off social media if you're feeling like this,
- 10:25Speaker 2: and why I feel like we're going to be so
- 10:26Speaker 2: protective of our kids having social media and spending time scrolling,
- 10:30Speaker 2: because they're just taking all that noise and their little
- 10:33Speaker 2: mind starts to compare every little thing. It's dangerous.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Paris is a thief of joy.
- 10:37Speaker 2: It really is. I saw that there was I think
- 10:39Speaker 2: we spoke about LEVI. There was a petition going around
- 10:41Speaker 2: for it to not be legal for kids under sixteen
- 10:44Speaker 2: to be on social media apps. And I think that's
- 10:48Speaker 2: such a good idea. That's a great idea, but I
- 10:51Speaker 2: don't think it will happen. I just remember growing up
- 10:53Speaker 2: thinking that everyone's always better than me and I can't
- 10:56Speaker 2: compete with it. So it almost like give up on
- 10:58Speaker 2: myself and give up and say no to certain situations
- 11:00Speaker 2: or opportunities because I was just never going to be enough,
- 11:02Speaker 2: but these other girls are. Yeah, definitely, And it's like
- 11:06Speaker 2: whatever you look for you'll find as well. Yeah, okay,
- 11:10Speaker 2: this one my next one. Try to be aware of
- 11:12Speaker 2: what you feel attached to. I want you to try
- 11:14Speaker 2: to detach from people, situations, expectations, homes, jobs, and opportunities.
- 11:20Speaker 2: If something doesn't work out, please trust it. When one
- 11:22Speaker 2: door closes, another three will open up that are way
- 11:25Speaker 2: more aligned. When you close, there's something you create space for,
- 11:28Speaker 2: even more light, beauty, and connection. When you detach from everything,
- 11:32Speaker 2: you attract everything. When you don't need anything, you gain everything.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I love that goes for so many different areas of life,
- 11:40Speaker 1: feel like friendships, businesses, naturally everything.
- 11:43Speaker 2: I just think it's been such a big change that
- 11:46Speaker 2: I made years ago because I just used to be
- 11:48Speaker 2: so attached to so much, even like home. Steve wants
- 11:51Speaker 2: like a forever home and I moved around a lot
- 11:53Speaker 2: as the kids. I've never been attached to having one home,
- 11:57Speaker 2: And I get why people are it's special and sentimental,
- 11:59Speaker 2: but like for me, I love moving around. It's like
- 12:01Speaker 2: fresh energy in your environment. It inspires me again and
- 12:04Speaker 2: it's like an adventure. Yeah, and I love it and
- 12:07Speaker 2: You just never know when something could be taken away.
- 12:09Speaker 2: So if you don't have an attachment to it, it's
- 12:11Speaker 2: not as hurtful, it's not as disappointing. You don't put
- 12:13Speaker 2: yourself through as much pain. So whish I learned that earlier.
- 12:19Speaker 2: When you feel like you're breaking down, you are actually
- 12:21Speaker 2: breaking free and breaking through from what's not serving you.
- 12:25Speaker 2: This is really amazing, So embrace these moments because you're
- 12:28Speaker 2: about to enter a whole new, exciting chapter. I love
- 12:31Speaker 2: that breaking down is like so heavy and hard, But
- 12:35Speaker 2: if you change the language like breaking free from what's
- 12:38Speaker 2: not serving you or breaking through something that makes it
- 12:42Speaker 2: like a high vibration, you need to go through that
- 12:44Speaker 2: to come out the other side. Yeah, breakdown means a
- 12:47Speaker 2: breakthrough and break free. This one we've all heard before,
- 12:50Speaker 2: but I would still tell it to my younger self
- 12:53Speaker 2: earlier on Tatala. Some people are in your life for
- 12:56Speaker 2: a lesson, some are there for a season or a reason,
- 12:59Speaker 2: and then some are there for a lifetime. But the
- 13:01Speaker 2: more that you stay connected to yourself, the more you
- 13:03Speaker 2: can feel into who's here for each of those And no,
- 13:06Speaker 2: they are all perfect and they all serve a purpose. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 2: that's beautiful. And it's so hard when you go through
- 13:13Speaker 2: relationship breakdowns or friendship breakdowns or anything in your life.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Like even there's been certain work friends and I'm like, oh,
- 13:21Speaker 2: those work friends weren't my real friends. They were work friends,
- 13:24Speaker 2: but I thought we'd be friends outside of work. But
- 13:26Speaker 2: they were there for a purpose and for a reason
- 13:28Speaker 2: and for a season, and that was beautiful and perfect.
- 13:30Speaker 2: It served them me having a job they could work at,
- 13:33Speaker 2: and it served me having this incredible staff member that
- 13:35Speaker 2: helped my business. But outside of that, it was no more.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And that was a hard pill for me to swallow.
- 13:41Speaker 2: But I was like, they served their purpose and they
- 13:43Speaker 2: were there for the reason and the season that.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Was fun for all they were there.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Yeah, it's beautiful. And then there's some friendships that I've
- 13:49Speaker 2: had literally since I was like fifteen, and they're still
- 13:51Speaker 2: stronger than ever. Yeah, Like most of my really close
- 13:54Speaker 2: friends I've had since teenage years, and I feel like
- 13:57Speaker 2: they just locked in and solid.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Wasn't it you that sent me that thing the other day?
- 14:00Speaker 1: Like once you reach seventy years of friendship, seven years,
- 14:03Speaker 1: seven years of friendship, it's like pretty.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Locked in, locked in? Yeah, Yeah, that's really cool. I know, interesting, hay.
- 14:10Speaker 2: So it's just a real that I sent here because
- 14:11Speaker 2: I think we're past our seven years now too.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I think we've probably got like our seven year annivers
- 14:16Speaker 1: maybe front of ursery cute.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's so cute. So this's real. Was
- 14:22Speaker 2: just yeah, like, if your friendships get past seven years
- 14:25Speaker 2: their lifetime friends. Yeah, And I was like, that's.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Really cool, and I feel like when you reflect and
- 14:29Speaker 1: think about that, it's pretty dang.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty spot on, isn't it. But then again,
- 14:33Speaker 2: like some friends might come into your life and then
- 14:35Speaker 2: you might have a season where you're not that close.
- 14:37Speaker 2: So yeah, every friendship has different seasons. Yeah, I really
- 14:40Speaker 2: love that. Yeah, it helps take the pain away if
- 14:42Speaker 2: things don't work out. Definitely don't like. No, I can
- 14:44Speaker 2: appreciate and I'm so grateful for that season, for the
- 14:47Speaker 2: purpose and things they taught me and the fun that
- 14:49Speaker 2: we did have. Yeah. Yeah, And I know there's a
- 14:51Speaker 2: lot of women struggling because I get dms about it
- 14:53Speaker 2: all the time. My life has been very public on
- 14:56Speaker 2: social media, so people have seen when I'm not as
- 14:59Speaker 2: close to someone, and everyone makes up their own narrative
- 15:01Speaker 2: but in true honesty, a lot of it just has
- 15:03Speaker 2: dwindled apart. Yeah, and it's hard, It really is hard.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So I think it's nice to just go back to
- 15:09Speaker 2: the gratitude of what the friendship was. I know a
- 15:12Speaker 2: lot of women are struggling with this because I get
- 15:13Speaker 2: a lot of Dan's been like, how do you cope,
- 15:15Speaker 2: you know, with your friendship breaking down with this person?
- 15:16Speaker 2: Or like, you know, you guys seen so close and
- 15:18Speaker 2: do you just not see each other? And we're like,
- 15:20Speaker 2: I'm having that struggles with my friendships, and I always
- 15:22Speaker 2: go back to that. I'm like, well, you know, sometimes
- 15:25Speaker 2: you're close to people and sometimes you're not. Yeah, and
- 15:27Speaker 2: that's just the way life is. Yeah, but I have
- 15:29Speaker 2: gratitude for all of it. This one's really helped me
- 15:32Speaker 2: repair my relationship with my mum over the years, which
- 15:35Speaker 2: if you have not listened to that episode, oh my god,
- 15:37Speaker 2: listen to it. Please go and listen to it. It
- 15:39Speaker 2: was incredible. She spoke so open and so vulnerable, and
- 15:42Speaker 2: at the start she said our relationship was not always
- 15:44Speaker 2: this strong, which is very true. But this really helped
- 15:48Speaker 2: me with my healing of forgiveness and understanding and compassion
- 15:52Speaker 2: for how my mum was through the abuse of my
- 15:55Speaker 2: stepfather and just the hard times we went through him.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And the advice is your parents did the best that
- 16:01Speaker 2: they could with what they knew at the time, and
- 16:04Speaker 2: every generation and does better than the last. And please
- 16:07Speaker 2: know that any moments that didn't feel loving, it doesn't
- 16:09Speaker 2: mean that you were not deserving of love in that moment.
- 16:12Speaker 2: I love that, and I do. I look back at
- 16:14Speaker 2: my mom and I'm like, I don't know how she
- 16:16Speaker 2: got through those years with three children, feeling so alone,
- 16:20Speaker 2: so unsupported. I can't even imagine going through that. Like
- 16:24Speaker 2: I've never been in a quote unquote bad relationship neither.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I've only been treated so lovely by the relationships I've
- 16:30Speaker 2: been And I can't imagine what she went through. She
- 16:32Speaker 2: literally did the best that she could. And she looks
- 16:35Speaker 2: back on her mum and she tells me stories of
- 16:37Speaker 2: things that happened to her and I'm like, whoa, but
- 16:39Speaker 2: it's even worse. Yeah, and her mom did the best
- 16:42Speaker 2: that she could.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:43Speaker 2: And then you go back generations through war and through everything,
- 16:45Speaker 2: like it was horrific back then. So every generation gets
- 16:49Speaker 2: better and better. But just like if you're holding anger
- 16:52Speaker 2: resentment and judgment towards your parents, Like I know it's
- 16:55Speaker 2: so hard, but you just have to understand they did
- 16:57Speaker 2: the best they can, even my stepdad.
- 16:58Speaker 1: And you don't have to forgive, but even just for
- 17:01Speaker 1: your own pc yind just to have some understand and
- 17:05Speaker 1: some compassion and be like okay.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Just release it, yeah, just to let it go and
- 17:09Speaker 2: hold on sense breath works really help with that as well.
- 17:12Speaker 2: But like even my stepdad, like I would never have
- 17:14Speaker 2: a relationship with him, no ever, but I can still
- 17:17Speaker 2: look at that man, not face to face, don't ever
- 17:20Speaker 2: see him, but I can still reflect back and go,
- 17:22Speaker 2: I don't know what happened in your childhood, but something's
- 17:24Speaker 2: happened to make you the way that you are. You
- 17:26Speaker 2: would not be treating children like this. You would not
- 17:29Speaker 2: be treating your wife like this. You will not be
- 17:30Speaker 2: treating yourself, your body, your health. Like everything he did
- 17:34Speaker 2: was just it felt so disrespectful. But who knows what
- 17:38Speaker 2: he went through to be like that. That's a lot
- 17:40Speaker 2: of pain. There is so much trauma and pain in
- 17:43Speaker 2: that man for him to be showing up like that,
- 17:45Speaker 2: Like I honestly have compassion for him. I don't choose
- 17:47Speaker 2: to be around it.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I don't wish upon anyone what happened to us, but
- 17:52Speaker 2: I definitely in my heart still have compassion for like
- 17:54Speaker 2: whatever the fuck he went through. Definitely. Yeah, that's just
- 17:57Speaker 2: a nice way to live, isn't it this that I
- 18:00Speaker 2: saw on Instagram the other day? There are people that
- 18:02Speaker 2: will never support you because it's you. Then there's people
- 18:07Speaker 2: that will always support you because it's you. You just
- 18:12Speaker 2: got to find your people. Don't settle? So true, isn't it?
- 18:16Speaker 2: Some people that just will never support you, they just
- 18:17Speaker 2: decided they don't like you. Yeah. And then there's people
- 18:19Speaker 2: that just like you're always there social media. Do you see,
- 18:23Speaker 2: like regular the same women pop up in your inbox
- 18:26Speaker 2: and they're just always supporting. I know, you scroll back
- 18:29Speaker 2: and it's like twenty sixteen, twenty twelve, I'm like, wow,
- 18:33Speaker 2: you it's always shown up for me, even if it's
- 18:36Speaker 2: just to swipe up with a love heart or like
- 18:38Speaker 2: thinking of you or hope you're well, or like great lawns.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Always there with good vibes and just just cheering you on.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And they always will just because they just see you
- 18:47Speaker 2: who you are. And there's people that just always fucking
- 18:50Speaker 2: hate you.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no matter what you do, no matter what you do,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you've already made up the mind about you anyway.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It's like, what's that saying? You could be the juicest,
- 18:56Speaker 2: ripest peach in the world, will it be someone that
- 18:57Speaker 2: doesn't like peaches? So it doesn't matter what kind of
- 18:59Speaker 2: peach you are, you can god who doesn't like peaches?
- 19:04Speaker 2: But it's so true, so true. Yeah, I thought that
- 19:08Speaker 2: was a really good one one. So they're just some
- 19:10Speaker 2: little bite sized chunks that you guys can hopefully take
- 19:13Speaker 2: away write them down maybe, or maybe it's just one
- 19:15Speaker 2: of them's landed and going ah. Like say, if you
- 19:17Speaker 2: are shruggling with your friendship to be like, Okay, that's
- 19:20Speaker 2: really sad that that friendship fell apart, but wow we
- 19:22Speaker 2: had some really good times together. Yeah, they really helped
- 19:24Speaker 2: me through a dark time. They might not be here now,
- 19:26Speaker 2: but like I wouldn't been able to get through that
- 19:28Speaker 2: time without them, And that was a really beautiful task.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I pushed you guys and urge you to go write
- 19:33Speaker 1: yourself a letter or write down little things when they
- 19:35Speaker 1: pop up in your mind that you would want to
- 19:36Speaker 1: say to your younger self when you're having a low day,
- 19:38Speaker 1: reflect on them, back at them and be like, yeah, no,
- 19:41Speaker 1: this is really nice, Like I deserve that love, I
- 19:43Speaker 1: deserve this, and yeah, it was a really beautiful, like
- 19:47Speaker 1: touching thing to do. I cried when I was writing it,
- 19:49Speaker 1: and they cried again, and it's all those beautiful little
- 19:51Speaker 1: releases and it's happy tears. I just feel so grateful.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And sometimes those tears are uncried tears that you didn't
- 19:57Speaker 2: get to cry when you were younger, Like let them
- 19:59Speaker 2: come up now. And it might feel uncomfortable writing a
- 20:02Speaker 2: letter like that, but that's okay, like lean into it,
- 20:05Speaker 2: running from everything that's uncomfortable. This society, I feel like,
- 20:08Speaker 2: wants everything to be easy, fast, accessible. It's even like
- 20:12Speaker 2: eats and everything's everything is.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Easy, fast and accessible, even trying to like go to
- 20:17Speaker 1: appointments and stuff, like a lot of them. Now you
- 20:18Speaker 1: can do comfortable your home, like everything's been made so
- 20:21Speaker 1: much more comfortable, I feel like, which is.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Great in some sense, but like other things, like it's
- 20:27Speaker 2: okay to feel uncomfortable. That's how you grow, absolutely, how
- 20:30Speaker 2: you get to know the deeper layers of yourself. And
- 20:32Speaker 2: we need to.
- 20:33Speaker 1: Get more comfortable.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, situations, Yeah, one hundred percent what I see the
- 20:38Speaker 2: other day. It was like, hard decisions today make tomorrow easier.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Easy decisions today make it tomorrow tomorrow harder. And isn't
- 20:46Speaker 2: that true? So true? It's like with your food, for example,
- 20:48Speaker 2: if you didn't put in the work to prep your
- 20:51Speaker 2: lunch or whatever, Yeah, it's easier today, but then you
- 20:53Speaker 2: feel like shit tomorrow. Getting takeaway was if you put
- 20:56Speaker 2: the hard effort in and like prep your food and
- 20:58Speaker 2: cook it up and put it in your containers, it's
- 21:00Speaker 2: easier tomorrow.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Definitely, so true.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Right, Uh huh freaking love that saying it out loud.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Oh my son, Yeah, oh, thanks for joining us.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Don't forget.
- 21:09Speaker 2: On Friday, we upload like a little mini episode and
- 21:11Speaker 2: basically it's a highlight from a previous one.
- 21:13Speaker 1: I've got so many now, so you never know what
- 21:15Speaker 1: you're going to get.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, if you've only got like five teren minutes. The
- 21:18Speaker 2: Friday ones are nice, little bite sized reminders and little
- 21:21Speaker 2: pep talks and pick me up.
- 21:22Speaker 1: So they're actually going really well. Yeah, you guys are
- 21:24Speaker 1: loving and when we look at the stats, we were surprised.
- 21:26Speaker 2: The little Friday it's just good. If you've only got
- 21:29Speaker 2: a couple of minutes. Yeah, thanks for joining us.
- 21:32Speaker 1: We'll see ye next time. Bye.
