- Alex: Welcome to another edition of the Unsexy Podcast where we talk about the unsexy side of everything. Today is episode twelve, check-in eleven of unsexy training with Aaron kicking it on over. Aaron: All right, Alejandro. let's start off with your weight. Alex: One sixty four point six. Aaron: Nice. how many workouts did you accomplish this past week? Alex: Six. Aaron: Six. Nice. how many macro days did you hit? Alex: four. I I've been struggling with diet the last couple of weeks, but we're on luck. Aaron: Is it weekends that you're struggling with? Alex: yeah, it's primarily weekends. I Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: I I I'm I'm just saying four. I'm pretty sure it was five, but I'm saying four just in case 'cause it felt like a bad weekend. Aaron: Yeah. What were you eating? I was I was I was watching our last video, Alex: Pizza again. Aaron: I was like, I wonder if that sounds like intrusive, but I'm always just curious, I'm like, Alex: Pi pe Aaron: was it something good? Alex: it was pizza and then in and out cheeseburgers. And then what else did we get? Cause we got the the place pizza, which is delightful. Shout out to the place, even though you won't respond to my text messages. We'll st but Aaron: Ha ha ha. Alex: but it's like the classic, like, but you still eat here. What else did we have? I think it was just like a lot of man, now that I'm actually saying it out loud, I think it was just two days that it was bad because it was the pizza and the cheeseburgers. Aaron: Well, the interesting thing about that too is like I think we talked about it with our talk with was it with Juan? Where it's like you could still stay in your macros. Or maybe it was a conversation I just had with Juan recently. Alex: Right. Aaron: Like it's just like you could still be fine like and eat all of that stuff. I'm assuming you didn't eat a whole pizza. Alex: Well, 'cause the thing is like when we're talking about going like so no matter what with two in and out cheeseburgers, I'm going over my fat. Like like over my fat count. So yes, you are correct where I think like Aaron: Sure. Yes. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yes. Alex: my protein and my carbs, maybe even carbs were like a little lower. So I would almost say I was probably within my calorie limit, but my Aaron: Mm-hmm. Alex: macros fat was high for both of those days. Yeah. Aaron: Sure, sure, sure. Although you wanna know what? no, I take it I take it back. cause I did pizza too, cause it was Arya had a birthday party and we just got like Sam's Club pizza because they're they're kids and they don't give a shit about what p what quality pizza tastes like. Although one of the one of her friends' mom has her own like pizza place and it is it's like a she does it at the farmers market and then just cater and stuff. It is so good. It's like a what is it Napoleon no what is it called? No what is that kind of pizza? Is that is it Napoleon But what is that called? It's not is it Napoleon style? Is it N Napolese? I should know this because Dave Portnoy could Naples? Naples style pizza? Alex: Yeah. Yeah, they throw it in the oven, it's like ch it bro like I think it's called Nap Naple Napoli Napoli Naples. How do you say Naples style pizza? Aaron: Yeah Alex: Just do them to say it. Nap Napolitan. Neapolitan. Neapolitan. Really? The ice cream? Aaron: Neapolitan? my gosh, I'm r I'm such an idiot. Neapolitan style? I don't know. Whatever. Yeah Alex: The italian pronunciation Napoletana l Nepoletana. Aaron: you can't say nipple. that's God, I was gonna say a horrible joke. that's Alex: Napoletana There we go. It's better. Aaron: the new word. okay. Alex: Yeah. Aaron: So the any so I don't know where the count. it's really good. Anyways, it doesn't matter. I don't know where the my point was I had pizza and but I guess to to counteract your point was I was for one of them I like took the cheese off. So it was just like the sauce in it. I'll tell you what, Sam's Club, not a lot of sauce on that pizza. I took the cheese off, I like, Where the it's like where's the beef? Like, where's the sauce? There's like no sauce. Whatever. but anyways, but I did eat, I did eat some pizza and I still lost weight. So there we go. Lloyd will be so happy up. Alex: Right. No, it c and I th as like I we're doing this like more and more, it's very you just have to be paying attention. That's really Aaron: Yeah. Yes. Alex: all it is. Like as long as you're tracking stuff, that will shame you enough to stopping. Aaron: Yes, dude, yes. That like there was so I'm putting in the the pizza and like you're probably doing the same thing where like I was looking at the fat, I was like, god. And so was like, I'm gonna take the Alex: god, it's jumping up. Aaron: cheese off this next one and then I'm just gonna eat. Cause I I was like way low on carbs. I was like, I'm just gonna have the crust. This should be fine. And it was, I mean, I was a little bit over on fat. but Eve, but it's so true, man. God, that is so true. If I wasn't Alex: It's just Aaron: tracking that I would just be like, a four piece of pizza, that's only, you know, twelve hundred calories. If you only count calories, you're just never you're never gonna know. And that's if you even count the calories, which I didn't do for a significant amount of my life. but yeah. Alex: Yeah. It's like it's like thinking back a lot of times of when I was at what I would have said my healthiest prior to this, where I was just like, I was still probably crushing thirty five hundred calories a day. And most of that was from fat. Most of Aaron: yes. Yes. Alex: it was most of it was from fat. So like you got your cheeses, your butters, your etcetera's added on in there. Aaron: Yep. Yep. Alex: birt like beef alone. And Aaron: Yes. Alex: so it's it's very interesting to see how like that has changed. It's like even so like anyone who's listening to this, because I think last week I was a little like, man, it's really hard to do like lifting weights and like waking up at 4 a.m. and like doing all this stuff, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. There is no excuse for diet. There is absolutely no excuse for diet. Try and make one right now. I'm like, it's so ex it's so expensive. Like, if I actually like adhered to like just like very strict principles of rice and chicken, like which will give you your macros, like maybe you have to throw some butter in there, like you are going to save so much F and money and time because you just put it in the buy a fifty dollar rice cooker, you put the rice in, probably takes about five minute prep time, and then it cooks by itself. Chicken does take a little bit longer, but I like my chicken to taste good. You could create some really shitty tasting chicken very, very quickly. Throw it on the Aaron: Dude and Alex: smoker or like however you however you want to do it really quick. Aaron: Even even like with chicken, what I started doing, I went back to just like crock pot chic crock pot chicken. And you just throw some chicken breasts in there, you put some different there's a bajillion different recipes you can use. And like I could eat that. I and then I did that this past week and I just ate it the entire week and it tasted really good. Like I I didn't get sick of it. But you can change what type of season it is. Like if you could do it like a teriyaki one, you could do a A taco fli season one, you could do like a buffalo chicken. There's so many different things you could do and still make it still make it good. And in within your macros. There's do you're right. There's zero excuse. There really isn't. Just find out how many times we say this, Alex. Find out what you actually like and can stick Alex: Yeah. Aaron: to. That's all it is. Like just that's it's really not that hard. Alex: It's very much on the brinks. The guy like did this LinkedIn post where it's fine. People I I understand as a content creator, like you gotta get people to interact with your content. So you have to say and do things in ways that are I think are not unethical, but skirt the lines. And the guy's question was, How much do you think you have to work out to lose a substantial amount of fat? And obviously everyone put like more than four hours per week. I'm like, you're not phrasing the question fairly to people. like because essentially what they think is they want to know in order for the main fat loss to come through weight los like through lifting, that's why Aaron: Yes. Alex: they're saying f plus four. But really, if they just started dieting, they could lose fat. Like we've talked about this a hundred times. So this has been like Aaron: Well now it Alex: it's been very much on my mind ha after having read that. Aaron: Do you think Ariana A Ariana Grande is doing a bunch of workouts? Or do you think she's on Osempic and just doesn't eat? Like you can lose Alex: Right. Right. Aaron: weight without do yeah, so you're yeah, you're right. What a stupid question that is. Like it doesn't matter. Like you could you could Alex: It's like, actually, you only need to work out one hour per week. I'm like, yeah, because they just need to stop having tons of fat in their diet. Like that's all, like, Aaron: Exactly. Alex: that's all they have to do, and then calorie deficit. Little trickster. Aaron: Exactly. You have a calorie deficit. It's really not the I know. And then there's yeah, I get yeah, it's it's just for content. Alex: People wanna make it seem complicated and like woo woo special so that they can get people to sign up for their course. It's so hard to do this. Aaron: Yes, exactly. It's not it's not hard, but I will say having someone hold you accountable Alex: Help you, yeah. Aaron: is going to make a giant difference. that because every I check in every day with my well, like I have to like upload my macros and like steps and like essentially what you and I do, Alex, but it's daily with my coach. And so I don't want to screw that up. And so I don't. And he'll you he was showing me like he like his end of it. He he kinda showed me he's like, he didn't show me the person's name, he's just like it will it will have the macros, like the just the list of different days, and it's like hit macros and it's like green or red, whether you hit it or not. And he's just like, here's someone who you know won their their their bodybuilding championship or their whatever it was, and it's just all greens and like an occasional red. He's like, here's someone who didn't, and it's just all red. Alex: Reds. That's funny. Aaron: That's what it is. so yes. average steps. Alex: twenty thousand. Aaron: Good hell. Alex: Just I'm telling you, dude, it's just like the it's literally just the No, I honestly think it's just Aaron: Go to Disneyland? No, I know, it's just moving around. Alex: the I think we talked about it last week where it's just like you're just moving Aaron: We did Alex: 'cause you're just yeah. Aaron: I literally just just just watched it. I don't always watch our stuff. I'm not a weirdo, but I do like to make sure I didn't say anything that was too stupid. but no, that's all it is. It's just just moving. Just move around, people. Just move around. Alex: I mean I I obviously I also have my eight thousand steps that I do in the morning, so like that is a good way to start out the day when you're essentially two thousand steps of the gym, eight thousand steps while you're working. So I'm already at ten thousand by eight, eight AM. Yeah. Aaron: Yeah, yeah. that is absolutely humongous. All right, let's go down to like like Alex: What? The steps. Aaron: yeah, like no, it's it's a huge thing when you're getting that much, that many steps that early in the day is a huge, it's a huge benefit. Cause then you're not like at the end of the day, like where me sometimes where I'm sitting down editing for hours, and then I get to the end of the day, I'm like, my God, I'm at like seven thousand stems or six it's sometimes there's do there's sometimes Alex: Six thousand. Yeah. This is gonna take eight years. Aaron: Where it's been like a rest day. so I didn't go to the gym and I'd just been just either recording probably recording and editing them the same day. And so it's just all just several hours. It'll get to like five o'clock. I'm like, I have like two thousand steps, crap. And so then I just go on the treadmill and go walk for like an hour or whatever it is. okay, Alejandro. I was reading the notes from last week for Windsor Achievements and I'd read read traps are pooping. Nope. I mean popping. Not not pooping. Alex: J poppin, poppin. Aaron: I guess kind of pooping out. wins and achievements. Alex: I'd say it's actually along those lines. The two wins and achievements. one is the video that I did. Go check it out, everybody, on Unsexy Businessmen and all of our Instagrams. It's the clas I haven't seen my back in 75 days. And so it was the very first time that I saw my back and I flexed I'm just like, okay, we're doing we're doing we're doing the Lord's work over here. Aaron: And can I let me take that a stop further. This is gonna sound like a a diss, but it's not. You didn't even do a good job flexing your back. Like if you did a good job flexing your back, like it would be a ginormous difference. That's you that was like my only thing. Cause you did it like really fast. And I was like, my god, I bet you it's I bet you it's so much more Alex: Yeah, I was just just just trying to give everyone a little taste. It was a little taste. Aaron: defined. Cause that's like the I'm the same way. I've never I the first time Alex I ever saw my back is when I did like the posing with my coach. And I was like, my God, my back looks great. But if I wouldn't have known how to like set it up and stuff, it's like really kind of like it's not a you're not constantly flexing your back. Like you can flex your biceps because you've been doing that your whole life. But like flexing like your back the proper way and like being able to like get the actual definition and be able to see it, like having being able to see that, like having him show me how to do that and then seeing it, I was like, Good lord. It's not like a brand, I don't have like a giant back, but for yours, the little that you did. was impactful if you did that just i in a way where you just went up, you just kinda flexed and then you just kinda almost like pulling your arms back and flexing and then pull it a little more forward. Yeah, my God, dude, it's gonna you're gonna be blown away by by how well that looks. So yes, go check that video out because it was it was great. I'll put stuff gonna put pooping back. Pooping back. Alex: Yeah, and I think it's only is that like our best like our best family muscle too though? Like because it's only gonna get Aaron: Calves. Alex: better because I finally have straps with hooks and I I've used them for three or two back back back exercises so far. Holy hell, the difference having that has has made just on those exercises. Aaron: dude straps? Yes. Yes. Alex: Well and like 'cause like this probably sounds weird. Like and having hooks, like there's times where I will like let go with my hands and I'm just like just pulling down just like pulling Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: down with the thing itself, like and it feels so much better. And then farmer carries, guess where I feel those now? Not in my forearms. And I'm like, maybe that's why my forearms have been hurting, because they're hurting a little bit less now. Let me do a little turn. And it's all going boop boop boop right here, everybody. I don't know what those are called. Aaron: Yes. Yes. That was telling somebody about that because someone was I was actually at the gym and I was doing the farmer carries. And God, I'll tell you what, Alex, I've noticed a lot more people doing farmer carries at the gym. Is it Alex: Yeah. Aaron: is it because of me? Of course it is. No, I'm just like I've never I never saw anyone, except there's this other lady that used to do them. And she maybe she still does, but I never saw anyone do them like everyone's doing farmer. Now, so I'd like to say that we started a row. We invented they should just call them Skinner Carries because we invented it. but no, yeah, no, no, what are they carrying like this? They're carrying bales of hay. yeah, for their plow. no, I was someone was asking me why I use straps. I was like, Alex: Yeah. 'Cause so few like farmers don't actually carry stuff anymore. Yeah. They got they got trailers. They st they still use an oxen for stuff. Yeah. Aaron: so I'm not like because the whole point of straps is so your weakest part isn't your grip. You want whatever muscle you're working. To be the failure point, not your grip. And so that's what you're talking about, Alex, is when even doing this and like where like you use zero grip, you're literally only using your muscles, like your your back to do this. And so you could even probably even use a a lighter weight, but because you're not engaging your your forearms and your biceps as Alex: Like my forms at all. Aaron: much, it's gonna dude, I I love using straps. I love them. I love them so much, they're great. so yeah. Alex: Been good. Aaron: that is. Really good. So back's looking great and strap on is working. Alex: Yep, strap on always works. Aaron: any struggles? Alex: No. Like we were a little bit sick, I guess. Like not really. I think this week was pretty good. Like there wasn't anything that I like I guess you could say like the diet side of things, but I'm getting much more okay with the diet where I'm just like, I'm doing fine. I was like Aaron: Yeah. And to be completely completely honest, dude, like getting twenty thousand steps a day. Yeah, you can Alex: Yeah. Like there's there's like parts of me where like I'm tired and I'm just like I need more carbs and so I'm gonna make sure I eat more carbs today, like whatever whatever the thing ends up being. But I'm I'm much more fur Aaron: What are you what are you talking about, Alex? You're listening to your body? Alex: and be and being forgi forgiving when like it's like 'cause even like with the cheeseburger's like I probably shouldn't have eaten those, but they were delightful and everything turned out fine. So Aaron: And it not only that, but then it doesn't put you into this like prison where you're like, I can never Alex: Yeah. Aaron: have delicious food until after Hawaii or when I'm in Hawaii or whatever. Like, dude, you could still have good food and still like get a good body. Like I just Alex: Yeah. 'Cause 'cause I wouldn't say even so we're at like week eleven. I actually don't know. Seventy five days. So yeah, week eleven. We're at week eleven s and I I've I've had like slip ups here and there throughout like the entire thing. And I'm just like, man, but there is like that thought in my head, I'm like, dude, can you imagine if I just like the bodybuilders that you're talking about that it's like it's augmented like, could you imagine if I locked in one hundred percent how much faster this would go? So that is like dancing around in my head a little bit where I'm just like I Aaron: Maybe maybe Alex: Lock it l lock in just to like try it. But like I'm also I don't wanna I I like where I like where we're at right now. Aaron: But the th honestly the thing with that is, and I have to tell myself this, even though I'm like training for a competition and I want to look as good as possible, I'm not gonna become a professional bodybuilder. Like I don't have to be as locked into these guys. I'm also not gonna be taking like Tren and D ball, which are all steroids we don't know. I'm not gonna be taking a bunch of anabolic steroids so I can get as big as possible. I'm just trying to do the best that I can and and also being realistic, I'm also 42. Like all these professional bodybuilders start when they're like 18. and then they retire when they're like 40. And so I'm starting when they retire. So to having like realistic expectations. So the point the point I'm making is just like, yeah, dude, like yeah, I I would say even if you locked in a hundred percent, the difference wouldn't be that great. It's not like that cheeseburger threw you off three weeks. You know what I mean? Like it's still Alex: Right. Right, right, right. Aaron: like it's fine. Cause I it's funny, cause it it's because we're brothers. I have the same I have the same thought. I was like, what if I only I only had chicken and rice and did like exact macros every single day, with no slip ups, which, you know, would it would it maybe net it would definitely net a better outcome. But like, are we talking like a percent? A half a percent? Ten pr I don't know. I have no idea. I don't Alex: Right. Right. Aaron: but I still want to enjoy my life in between I'm I'm one text message, one teen texting while they're driving away from not being around. So that's how I like to live my life. Still Still limit to its fullest, but be responsible while I'm doing it. Alex: Yeah, it's been f like and and just understanding too for me has been the relative consistency with diet. Like it's not the Aaron: Yeah, yes. Alex: religious consist consistency with diet, it's the like you you're doing like you're doing the the Lord's work. 'Cause like I see all the people at the gym and I'm just like, all you You gotta you have to like get on a diet. I know that you don't eat well. Like 'cause now I'm I've been here for seventy five days and I've seen a lot of these people for a long period of time and like there's a big difference between the dude who I'm just like, I see what you're doing, you're looking great, everything's going good, and like the person like looks exactly the same as seven like you should look different. I look different. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: You should definitely look different after seventy-five days, like absolute like guaranteed. Aaron: Well, it was like we were talking about I was telling you about the guy I saw that I was talking to at the gym today. Like, I've seen him there for over a year and I've seen his weight loss just just drop and he looks great. and it like and and at the the opposite of that, I've seen people that have been at the gym for a as long as I've gone there that have looked the same. And it really honestly is just your diet. That's all that's all it is. Like you can't outwork a diet. Bad diet. Alex: Yeah. Yeah. Well that's the the Yeah. Yeah, it's the quote that you have where it's the abs are made in the gym, revealed in the kitchen. Yeah. Aaron: Yes. Yes. Exactly. but yeah, so I think we're I think we're doing we're doing well. Alex: Doing the Lord's work. Aaron: so yeah. Alex: Awesome. Well, thanks everyone for joining us today. We will catch up with y'all next week. Go be unsexy.
