- Sarah: Inside Camp, week eight, the Trust Shift. Now this week the news was announced that I got selected for Team Ireland for the Felixstam tournament in Poland. It really means a lot to be recognised, to be selected. I'm proud of that. And look, I should probably be losing my mind right now, but this time feels different. Sure, there's an experience gap. I see it. I know where my skills are, but I've worked hard. and I made a decision. I'm not giving the imposter permission to sabotage my efforts or my energy. Now eight weeks ago, I would have spiralled, started poking holes, second questioning everything. didn't happen this time. And I think I know why. There's this feeling I've carried through most of my boxing journey, the night before the exam feeling where you're cramming, trying to squeeze in everything last minute, so desperate, And it never works. ⁓ You just end up yourself, you over train, and you've left everything in the ring before the test even starts. This week, I felt something I haven't felt before. A real sense of calmness, not confidence exactly. More like, I trust the work I've put in. Eight weeks of receiving top class coaching, being challenged and levelled up. At some point you have to stop digging and trust what's underneath. Now there's a balance. You don't poke holes too deep or you start to unravel, but you also don't ignore what's there. You trust the coaches, you trust the process, and for the first time you trust your own ability to think. Now this week I sparred two of Ireland's best. Different styles, both elite, both high intensity. and both the kind of rounds where the old me would have choked. I didn't. I was making decisions in real time, adjusting mid-round, not just surviving, actually reading what was in front of me and responding. There was one moment that really stuck with me. I'd been working on a micro step back counter, tiny adjustment. In the past, I'd either freeze in the pocket, stay in the line of fire, or I'd bail out completely, take myself so far out of range, the counter was useless. This time, I found the distance, small step, countered clean. And that was eight weeks of coaching that lived right there in that moment. After one of the sessions, I got feedback from someone I really respect in this sport. They pulled me aside and said that was really good sparring. Look, I know there are levels. I can see where I'm less experienced. That's obvious. But I held my own in there against the best in the country. ⁓ And that says something about what this program builds. The coaching staff in this high performance setup have given me tools I didn't have two months ago. Not just physical tools, thinking tools. back at O'Rourke's gym this week with Stephen reinforced that. proximity to a coach I've grown with these past few months, someone who's shaped how I now perform in the sport, it grounded everything. This upcoming week is Poland, another pressure test. I'm not making predictions, I'm not even setting expectations. The preparation is done, now I go and perform. And whatever happens, well, you know me, I'll tell you the truth about it when I get back. Thanks all for tuning in. I'll see you next week.
