SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Stories from the Lost and Band.
0:02
SPEAKER_00: I'm Krishna Avalon, subconscious therapist, breakthrough coach, and acupuncturist, someone who spent 24 years helping people change from the inside out.
0:11
SPEAKER_00: I bridged neuroscience and ancient medicine together to show you what's actually driving your life because it's almost another what's on the surface.
0:19
SPEAKER_00: Each week we'll go deep into the patterns, wounded parts, and the real stories behind why we get stuck and how we find our way through.
0:26
SPEAKER_00: If you're ready for honesty, depth, and tools that actually work, you're in the right place.
0:31
SPEAKER_00: I am so glad you're here.
0:34
SPEAKER_00: Yay, Rachel.
0:36
SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited to have you here.
0:38
SPEAKER_00: Me too.
0:39
SPEAKER_00: Yay.
0:40
SPEAKER_00: Do you want to just start?
0:42
SPEAKER_00: Like, what are you calling yourself these days in business?
0:45
SPEAKER_00: What are your do you have titles for yourself?
0:49
SPEAKER_01: No, but I probably should.
0:52
SPEAKER_01: I was actually just thinking about that the other day of like I'm going through a not a rebrand, but a pivot of how do I merge all my industries and call myself?
1:03
SPEAKER_01: Because like right now, everything's separate of my beef business, working in the sex industry, and also acupuncture.
1:14
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, how do we just I don't know the all-encompassing word for it?
1:17
SPEAKER_01: Everything feels so separate.
1:19
SPEAKER_01: And I was just thinking the other day of how do I combine these all even more?
1:25
SPEAKER_01: I don't have a title for myself.
1:28
SPEAKER_00: But that also makes sense for your personality because you are not a gal that puts yourself inside of a box.
1:34
SPEAKER_00: And I feel like titles are very limiting, and I think people get in trouble when they over-identify with a label.
1:39
SPEAKER_00: So to me, it makes sense.
1:41
SPEAKER_00: I want you to tell anybody listening right now who you are.
1:46
SPEAKER_01: Oh man, I am a wild woman of many faces.
1:55
SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm an entrepreneur and I run a beef business, taking retired dairy cows and turning them into premium beef.
2:07
SPEAKER_01: Um, I also have been a stripper for 12 years now, and I got my master's in Chinese medicine and work in acupuncture.
2:17
SPEAKER_01: So many hats.
2:18
SPEAKER_01: More around here.
2:20
SPEAKER_00: So many hats.
2:21
SPEAKER_00: And the reason I really wanted and couldn't wait to have this conversation with you was just because you are a person that I admire so much in your creation energy, in your ability to see big picture and like all of these ways that you dynamically express yourself.
2:38
SPEAKER_00: And so um, I know when we were talking before, you were just saying that it's really important to you to represent these industries that are marginalized, and um I mean, I just thought that was so beautiful because they're all such different industries.
2:53
SPEAKER_00: So, like, where are you blinking the most with your focus right now and in your work?
2:59
SPEAKER_01: Um, with my focus in my work, uh, I'm kind of at a pivot point in it right now, actually.
3:05
SPEAKER_01: And I'm really trying to figure out I think merging the three industries has been this uh kind of long-term process, and I think it keeps hitting a new cog.
3:18
SPEAKER_01: Like when I started, everyone's just like, what do any of these have to do with each other?
3:21
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, A, it doesn't matter if they have anything to do with each other.
3:26
SPEAKER_01: And B, they really are all interwoven.
3:30
SPEAKER_01: You know, I have the Chinese medicine knowledge really fed into like how I treat my cows, how I view the health of the cows, the beef.
3:40
SPEAKER_01: You know, if you really think of Chinese medicine really emphasizes like the vibration of your food and the qi and energy of what went into it, and that that's you know what you're putting in your body.
3:51
SPEAKER_01: And I bring that into the beef business, and that you can't just, you know, churn out a generic product, and that that the energy, the juju, however you want to call it, of how you raise an animal ends up in the result and how you feel when you eat it.
4:12
SPEAKER_01: Um so figuring out how to merge all these industries even more, and um, so it's all just one all-encompass business.
4:23
SPEAKER_01: And I mean, I have gotten a lot of customers at the strip club, but so far how I've merged that with the beef business is hustling beef in the club.
4:33
SPEAKER_01: Um, and I'm hoping to buy property this year, hopefully this summer, and um, I want to call it stripper ranch, and we'll have the whole wellness business there, the beef business, and yeah.
4:49
SPEAKER_00: I mean, that just sounds amazing.
4:51
SPEAKER_00: And from what I see, uh, you know, following you on Instagram, is it retired dairy cows, really specifically, or is it all kinds of cows?
5:01
SPEAKER_01: So I take yeah, so I buy cows from local dairies that are waning in milk production, or they can't be bred back.
5:11
SPEAKER_01: So, in order for cows to keep producing milk, they have to be pregnant regularly.
5:17
SPEAKER_01: And so um, if they can't get them bred, then they gotta move on.
5:21
SPEAKER_01: And so I get them from the dairies, I buy direct from the dairies, and I work really closely with these dairies because I want to ensure their, you know, animal husbandry practices, their environmental practices, working directly with ones with the highest standards for their animals and the environment, because you can't make up for a whole lifetime of bad feed or bad treatment in just the time that I've gotten them.
5:46
SPEAKER_01: Like, I want their whole life to reflect the product.
5:50
SPEAKER_01: And then I take them, put them out on regenerative pastures for anywhere from six months to a year.
5:56
SPEAKER_01: And so that extra time, they get a little retirement, which I think is a lovely gift to them after this hard working life of milking.
6:05
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, you guys deserve to hang out.
6:08
SPEAKER_01: And um, in that time, it also develops more flavor, more marbling.
6:13
SPEAKER_01: I've got three right now.
6:14
SPEAKER_01: I've got them on multiple properties that I lease, and three of them right now are on one of my friend's properties, and they've actually become like the aunts to his calves that he's weaning.
6:26
SPEAKER_01: And so he's got all of his beef calves with my three old dairy ladies.
6:31
SPEAKER_01: And they really are, they've been like the little aunties to this group of calves, and it's just like it's so entertaining to me that it's like these cows.
6:39
SPEAKER_01: I know I'm totally anthropomorphizing them, but I'm like, they never imagined this other life, you know, they're born on this dairy, never left.
6:47
SPEAKER_01: So, like, you know, some of these gals are like 10 years old, they've never left that dairy, and all of a sudden, like I show up, put them in a trailer, we pop them out at this other property that they've never seen, and they're just like, well, I guess this is my life now.
7:03
SPEAKER_01: And now they're like an auntie to a whole group of beef calves, and they'd probably never seen beef calves in their life.
7:10
SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, so they get this whole other whole other life and then um get processed, and um yeah, I really like to treat every cow with individuality and the reverence that they deserve, and bring that to the whole product using everything nose to tail that I can, and really just like not wasting any bit of the cow and really educating the consumer of that as well.
7:40
SPEAKER_00: Right.
7:41
SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's just like such an incredible intentional process.
7:45
SPEAKER_00: And like, what is that like for you being a woman in that industry?
7:49
SPEAKER_00: Because I don't I know maybe two other female farmers, and they have husbands that they partner up with.
7:57
SPEAKER_01: I heard a really good phrase the other day.
7:58
SPEAKER_01: It was this woman who works in construction, and she was like, I'm gonna stop saying male-dominated fields and saying male populated fields, because she was like, saying male-dominated fields means that they're dominating the field as well.
8:11
SPEAKER_01: And male-populated just tells you there's a lot in it.
8:14
SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, farming is a heavily male populated industry.
8:19
SPEAKER_01: Um coming into it as a woman and also first generation was really a tidal wave of challenges.
8:28
SPEAKER_01: I think a combo of internally produced ones and externally produced ones.
8:35
SPEAKER_01: Um I think some of the challenge was I didn't want to show up in the industry trying to change myself to fit in to look like it, if that makes sense.
8:49
SPEAKER_01: Like I was thinking about this the other day of like I very deliberately, you know, when I started learning how to butcher and slaughter and things like that, like I was like, I want pink bibs, and I'm wearing my beaded earrings when I slaughter, like I'm wearing makeup, and I'm not gonna try and look like I'm trying to be a man in this industry, like I'm gonna be Barbie butcher.
9:14
SPEAKER_01: And um to really preserve that and maintain that, and like what's the word I want?
9:23
SPEAKER_01: I guess celebrate the fact that I am a woman in the industry and presenting as such and not trying to fit in with the boys, but actually carve my own lane.
9:35
SPEAKER_01: And also being first generation, you're up against a lot because um you get there's a lot of imposter syndrome with first generation.
9:44
SPEAKER_01: Um and because yeah, you're coming into this industry that is very much the good old boys' club, very much this is how we've always done it, and you're showing up being like, I have something new to offer.
10:01
SPEAKER_01: And also just not, you know, you weren't raised on a tractor on this farm.
10:05
SPEAKER_01: I mean, some of these farms, it's incredible.
10:07
SPEAKER_01: It's like they know every dip and hole in that pasture and every corner and every soggy spot and dry spot because it's like they've been learning how to drive a tractor on that thing since they were five.
10:18
SPEAKER_01: And coming in first generation is daunting in that sense because you don't have this background of identity of family farming and knowing how to run things and knowing, you know, you're starting from scratch on everything.
10:32
SPEAKER_01: You weren't raised around cows, you weren't raised around equipment.
10:35
SPEAKER_01: And so that being combined with being a woman was definitely a lot of, like I said, internally produced things to overcome and externally, because showing up as a woman, especially as a younger, tall, blonde one, probably wearing small clothes.
10:58
SPEAKER_01: To also just be true to myself.
10:59
SPEAKER_01: I was like, this is what I got dressed, okay?
11:05
SPEAKER_01: And I got out of the truck one day at the slaughterhouse and I just looked down and I was like, in these pink little shorts, these little flip-flops, and I was just like, well, this is what it is.
11:16
SPEAKER_00: Um but showing up like that.
11:19
SPEAKER_00: Just like take a pause right there because Rachel is exactly that image.
11:24
SPEAKER_00: Like if you just take a moment and imagine the super tall, bubbly Barbie coming out in her little shorts and flip-flops, lighting up the world.
11:35
SPEAKER_00: I mean, like those people are.
11:38
SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
11:40
SPEAKER_00: I know that you are not a person who sees like struggles as a bad thing or like challenges as something to stay stuck in, but like, where do you feel like you are maybe needing the most support in that work right now?
11:57
SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
12:00
SPEAKER_01: It's funny because I was reflecting on that the other day, and I was just like, this year has really been the turning point, I think, of feeling just very solid in those.
12:09
SPEAKER_01: I think it's taken until now, it's been four years in the business, and just doing a lot of internal work around that discomfort challenges of that.
12:21
SPEAKER_01: Um but it was funny because I I feel like I feel like a lot of the root of that is feeling like you have something to prove.
12:29
SPEAKER_01: And that's being first generation, that's being a woman, all of that in the industry, you're like, I have to prove myself to be taken seriously.
12:36
SPEAKER_01: And proving yourself is so exhausting.
12:40
SPEAKER_01: And um, like even the other day when I pulled up with my giant truck and my giant trailer at the slaughterhouse, and I was just like, oh, I don't feel like if it takes me 10 times to back this trailer up, which it doesn't, because I got that down pretty well.
12:56
SPEAKER_01: But I was like, even if it does, you know, because like you show up and you're just like all of a sudden the odds are stacked against you.
13:01
SPEAKER_01: You're like, I better park this thing well.
13:04
SPEAKER_01: I have like two chances, or they're gonna start directing me.
13:07
SPEAKER_01: You know, it's just like all you come in just already so amped, and I was just like, if this takes me 20 to 20 tries, like I don't care.
13:18
SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't care.
13:19
SPEAKER_01: It's fine.
13:20
SPEAKER_01: Like I have nothing to prove.
13:24
SPEAKER_01: And so, um, yeah, like I actually feel that does not feel like an area that I need to work on right now, which is new.
13:36
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I was wondering that exact same thing because you brought that up of like having to prove yourself is an exhausting thing.
13:43
SPEAKER_00: And I know that we've talked before, and it has been this thing where you've wanted to come in to the patriarchy or to whatever environment you in and basically show all the men that you can do what they can do and you can do it better.
13:58
SPEAKER_00: And so I was thinking when you when you said that out loud, like, do you feel that still?
14:04
SPEAKER_00: Do you feel like you're having to prove a lot, or are you just like, fuck it?
14:07
SPEAKER_00: I can park this trailer, and even if I can't, no big deal.
14:11
SPEAKER_00: Like, is that where you're at?
14:12
SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty much like there's I'm giving a lot less fucks these days, which is so liberating.
14:21
SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, I think it's a combo of being more established in the industry, um the product really speaking for itself.
14:35
SPEAKER_01: It's like, you know, because I also I also came in as saying, I'm gonna make dairy cows taste good, which really triggers a lot of people.
14:45
SPEAKER_01: Like the beef boys, yeah.
14:48
SPEAKER_01: The beef boys do not want to hear that dairy cows are delicious.
14:54
SPEAKER_01: Like it's that, it's just such a reflection of those old deep machismo, just this is the like it's just they're literally like, no, dairy cows are not steaks.
15:10
SPEAKER_01: I mean, people got triggered by that big time, just like this idiot thinks that she can make dairy cows taste good.
15:19
SPEAKER_01: And it's you get strong reactions from beef people, and it's just like I said, it's it's the um the that's not how we do it mentality that is really poisoned farming and really set it up for the failure that it's having right now.
15:38
SPEAKER_01: Um and that really just that it really reflects just the closed-mindedness in the industry, and um so I really had the trifecta going of that.
15:48
SPEAKER_01: I was first generation, I was a woman, and I'm like, I'm gonna make dairy cows taste good.
15:53
SPEAKER_01: And I mean, even my best friend, he was just like, he told me he was like, I thought you were off your rocker.
16:02
SPEAKER_01: I was a hater, okay?
16:03
SPEAKER_01: And like, but I believe you now, like you've done it.
16:06
SPEAKER_00: Wow, I mean, and you're teaching me right now, too.
16:09
SPEAKER_00: I'm from Wisconsin, but I didn't know that that would be triggering for people.
16:12
SPEAKER_00: But I guess if you're in the farming industry and you've only been doing it for four years, I mean, that's like that's not that long for how much you've accomplished, and your steaks look amazing.
16:23
SPEAKER_00: Fortunately, I haven't gotten my box yet, but I mean, you certainly look you certainly make them look like they taste amazing.
16:30
SPEAKER_01: So they do, and you know, the whole thing is like dairy cows aren't gonna get marbling, dairy cows aren't gonna taste good, they're gonna be tough, they're gonna be chewy.
16:40
SPEAKER_01: I mean, I was told you're only gonna get roasts, you're not gonna get steaks, I mean, everything.
16:48
SPEAKER_01: And I really had to fake it till I make it.
16:51
SPEAKER_01: And I mean, when I branded, I actually had never even tried an old dairy cow steak, but I had done so much research from I couldn't get anyone to talk to me about it, like because there's no one really doing it in the United States, and so I was actually a slaughter guy in Australia that was really into Jersey cows, which is one of the dairy breeds.
17:17
SPEAKER_01: And he was the only one I could get to talk to me about it, and he helped me like pick out my first cows and stuff, because I was just like, I don't even know what to look for in these cows, because you can't you can't just grab any old dairy cow and get these kind of steaks.
17:29
SPEAKER_01: You really have to.
17:31
SPEAKER_01: I've had to train my eye for what to look for on the outside.
17:36
SPEAKER_01: Um I was friends with the butcher, and she and I would go through every single carcass, and so I could learn what I was seeing on the outside if it was translating to what I thought they were gonna look like on the inside.
17:48
SPEAKER_01: She would send me pictures of every single cut when she cut the beef so that I could really hone in on what to look for in each cow, genetics, feed.
17:58
SPEAKER_01: It's still a refining process.
18:00
SPEAKER_01: Um like the other day I asked the slaughterhouse to send me videos of all the carcasses so I could see them.
18:07
SPEAKER_01: Um so yeah, it was it, and I think that's where the intense need, internal need to prove myself, because like I said, it was really the trifecta of everything of I got a lot on the line.
18:22
SPEAKER_01: If these don't turn out well, it's like, well, of course it's not.
18:26
SPEAKER_01: You're a little lady and it was dairy cows.
18:29
SPEAKER_01: And you're first generation, you don't know what you're talking about.
18:32
SPEAKER_01: So um, yeah, it's a nice relief to be past that point now.
18:39
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, okay, yeah, I've slaughtered enough cows, they all came out amazing.
18:45
SPEAKER_01: Customer feedback's been amazing.
18:49
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
18:50
SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, okay, we did it.
18:57
SPEAKER_00: I mean, and I mean, I have so many questions about that, but I suppose the direction I'd want to go more most is like, how do you feel?
19:05
SPEAKER_00: We were talking a little bit before this, how is the sex industry for you and stripper?
19:12
SPEAKER_00: How does that go?
19:14
SPEAKER_00: Like, how do you feel you were saying that they they're really the same thing as far as like kind of what they mean for you or how you are representing um, you know, marginalized communities in some ways with with um sex workers.
19:30
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
19:32
SPEAKER_01: No, I feel like it really it did give me a have having worked in the stripping industry gave me a baseline already for that feeling of being up against all odds or like people having preconceived notions.
19:48
SPEAKER_01: Um and it also really set me up to operate a business in a man's world because I've already spent so many years navigating middle-aged men, which is pretty much who I'm dealing with constantly in the beef industry as well.
20:10
SPEAKER_01: Um and I always say I'm like, the world is a strip club.
20:18
SPEAKER_01: People just don't want to accept that.
20:20
SPEAKER_01: Like, everything's a transaction, everything's figuring out like what do what is what does this person need?
20:27
SPEAKER_01: What can I offer?
20:29
SPEAKER_01: What is the exchange gonna be?
20:31
SPEAKER_01: And um I think that that it really set me up going into business too.
20:39
SPEAKER_01: Of one of the big things I learned is don't guess how people are gonna spend their money.
20:48
SPEAKER_01: So one of the things in my business too, that's been very triggering to people are my prices.
20:54
SPEAKER_01: And um, like when I say people, I mean like other farmers.
20:59
SPEAKER_01: And farmers have historically like charged too little.
21:05
SPEAKER_01: And we're seeing this, like, we're seeing a lot of news about like the big four, how it's these four packers controlling like 90% of the pricing in the beef industry and all that, and how it's driving prices down.
21:18
SPEAKER_01: And yes, that is capitalism working at its finest, but I'm also like, but for decades, if not centuries, these farmers kept working, anyways.
21:28
SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm like, y'all kept taking the low price, and that I'm like trying to think how to phrase it without getting my head chopped off by them, but like we can always edit it.
21:43
SPEAKER_00: Say what you want, and you can always decide later if you want to.
21:46
SPEAKER_01: No, because I've been thinking a lot about it.
21:48
SPEAKER_01: I've just been like, y'all just kept taking the hits, like you just kept working for nothing, you know, and um being working as a Stripper for so long, really learning that your time is money because that's like in that industry, literally, your time is money.
22:08
SPEAKER_01: Like, people are paying you for your time.
22:13
SPEAKER_01: And you're surrounded, I think it's a very unique uh what's the word I want environment where you're also surrounded is by other women leading the way of showing you that your time is money.
22:29
SPEAKER_01: And I've been in it so long that I forgot how few places there are in the world like that of where I've had these examples of other women that are charging for their time, for their, you know, charging for dates, charging for sex, like anything, and really setting that bar of self-worth and how to charge and you know the price of things.
23:03
SPEAKER_01: So um I think it were it helped it gave me the foundation of already working through a lot of that baseline of how to how to ask a fair amount for your product.
23:18
SPEAKER_01: Whether your product is your time, whether your product is beef, you know.
23:23
SPEAKER_01: And um and also it has, I think the other the other reason I say they're kind of like all in one is a lot of the personalities that I have met in the club have been my major mentors in business.
23:43
SPEAKER_01: So I think that that was a really big um, I guess, advantage of being first generation.
23:52
SPEAKER_01: Um my advice came from, I would say, powerful businessmen.
24:00
SPEAKER_01: And I think that that was really key in changing, I think that that's what the farming industry is lacking, is that it's all in this internal uh cycle, that the advice is coming from, not that not that farmers can't offer advice, but when it comes to that like business mentality, that like charging enough, the boundaries, the kind of pit bull mentality that's not really in the farming industry, that comes from a lot of other business industries.
24:34
SPEAKER_01: So I was surrounded by all these businessmen and was able to really like bounce ideas off with them.
24:44
SPEAKER_01: And it's funny because there's I've I've heard of other women in the industry talking about this.
24:48
SPEAKER_01: There's this lady in Australia who's been speaking out a bunch, and she was talking about how she consults her sugar daddies, and but they help her with her business too.
24:57
SPEAKER_01: And that's what I've always wondered after being in the business.
25:00
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, where would I have ever gotten this kind of mentorship?
25:02
SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know of any other place to access this in such a not easy way, but it's like I can be at work and learning about how to build my business as opposed to trying to find a mentor, trying to set this whole formal thing.
25:17
SPEAKER_01: You know, I would have just regulars that came in every week and I could just talk with them while I was there.
25:24
SPEAKER_01: And so I think that it provided that really unique network and connecting with um these men that could really be great mentors, and I could run all my business ideas off of them, I could run strategy off of them, and you know, they weren't gonna bullshit me because they didn't have anything to lose.
25:45
SPEAKER_01: Like they're gonna tell me if it's a bad idea.
25:48
SPEAKER_01: And um, and so yeah, really being able to discuss that with a lot of them really helped.
25:56
SPEAKER_01: And I still do, like I still have business meetings with them and bounce ideas off of them and consult them before making certain moves or risks.
26:06
SPEAKER_01: And I think being able to be around people of that what's the word of uh like ambition caliber was very supportive and very much helped with the drive because you can't talk about business with people that don't understand business.
26:30
SPEAKER_01: I learned that really fast.
26:31
SPEAKER_01: It was like if I shared my anxieties with someone who's never started a business, their advice was horrible because they're just like responding kind of fear-based and don't actually understand these risks.
26:40
SPEAKER_01: Whereas like these businessmen understand the risk and they understand going after it and trying that risk and seeing what can happen with it.
26:49
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, they were just incredible mentors, you know, and they worked for big companies like Nike and Lululemon, and we're talking lawyers and things like that.
26:58
SPEAKER_01: So um really connect me with that, and then they also became amazing beef customers.
27:06
SPEAKER_01: I'm like, if you don't want to buy a lap dance, would you like to buy beef or both?
27:10
SPEAKER_01: I sold beef in lap dances too.
27:13
SPEAKER_01: Um, and so I've like delivered beef to work, I've networked there.
27:19
SPEAKER_01: All the girls, I find out that like all these girls that are like hustling their customers to buy beef from me or like buy beef for them from have their customers buy beef from me for them.
27:30
SPEAKER_01: Like it's this whole like strip of beef network.
27:34
SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
27:35
SPEAKER_00: Well, and and what I hear is really, because you've been doing stripping the longest, yeah, of acupuncture and stripping and the beef business.
27:43
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's taught you incredible business, it's taught you strategy, it's taught you how to network, how to work your angles, you know, same as strategy.
27:54
SPEAKER_00: But so I could yeah, I could see how that all goes together.
27:57
SPEAKER_00: And I mean, essentially, it's like you know, I think about my daughter's generation.
28:02
SPEAKER_00: It's like my generation, we went to school, we had a major, we had a focus, that was the one thing.
28:08
SPEAKER_00: Who uses their four-year degree?
28:10
SPEAKER_00: Hardly anybody, but like her generation, more like yours, it's like you could have three hustles, you know what I mean?
28:16
SPEAKER_00: What do you love?
28:17
SPEAKER_00: What do you want to pursue?
28:18
SPEAKER_01: It doesn't have to be one thing, so yeah, and I mean I I always hit friction in that.
28:27
SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel like it was on the cusp of it, you know.
28:31
SPEAKER_01: Because I didn't, I mean, I got my undergrad, you know, in biology, Spanish, and German, which I actually did use the Spanish and the German, and essentially the biology.
28:40
SPEAKER_01: But like, even when I was in college, I was just like, when I graduate college, I want to be a stripper.
28:49
SPEAKER_01: No one believed me.
28:50
SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, So you knew my degrees.
28:53
SPEAKER_00: It wasn't like something you fell into.
28:55
SPEAKER_00: Like you knew that you wanted to do it while you were in college.
29:00
SPEAKER_01: I knew even before college, I knew when I was like little.
29:04
SPEAKER_01: I was just a I was so fascinated by ranching and the sex industry.
29:10
SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know what it was, you know.
29:13
SPEAKER_01: Like, I thought Marilyn Monroe was so fascinating.
29:16
SPEAKER_01: And then obviously, growing up in the 90s, you know, we were just like, it was like Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, and it was a very, you know, skin-heavy pop culture time.
29:26
SPEAKER_01: But I was just like, I remember writing in my journal, I want to say it was maybe even middle school.
29:33
SPEAKER_01: Just like, I want to be a bass jumper, which I don't want to be a bass jumper anymore, playmate of the year and a cattle rancher.
29:42
SPEAKER_01: I was like, these are my goals.
29:46
SPEAKER_00: So two out of the three, one you've got already.
29:49
SPEAKER_00: Two out of the three.
29:53
SPEAKER_00: Unless I don't know, did you already hit that goal?
29:56
SPEAKER_01: We haven't hit that goal.
29:57
SPEAKER_01: We haven't hit that goal.
29:59
SPEAKER_01: That can be that can be in the works.
30:03
SPEAKER_00: I have somebody that I might be able to introduce you to actually online.
30:07
SPEAKER_00: She is uh, yeah, she's a love from a long time ago client.
30:11
SPEAKER_00: And um I don't know if she was playmate of the year, but she's definitely been in Playboy a couple times.
30:16
SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love it.
30:18
SPEAKER_00: She's a doll.
30:19
SPEAKER_00: Oh, she's such a doll.
30:20
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
30:20
SPEAKER_00: And she'd probably love to buy beef for you.
30:23
SPEAKER_00: I I don't know how far you might ship.
30:25
SPEAKER_00: She's in the middle of the year.
30:28
SPEAKER_00: I ship nationwide.
30:29
SPEAKER_00: I was gonna add that was one of the many questions I had when we were talking about um your beef business is where you ship my ship to.
30:37
SPEAKER_00: Okay, amazing.
30:39
SPEAKER_01: Yep, I ship I've shipped to the east coast a lot, Midwest.
30:43
SPEAKER_01: I've shipped all over the United States so far.
30:46
SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
30:47
SPEAKER_00: Because my other question back to that is it's like, what would happen to those like the cow if you weren't turning it into steak or something to eat, like a dairy cow?
30:58
SPEAKER_00: Because if they are so yeah, so you know if they're there supposedly for milking only, it's like then what else happens to the the whole rest of this cow's being?
31:10
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so basically, after when they hit the point of, like I said, not profitable milk production or um not being bred back, they'll just ship them off to auction and they'll end up as dog food or just in like commodity ground beef.
31:27
SPEAKER_01: And so it's just tragic because you see some of these steaks coming off these cows, and it's like that's getting turned into really low-grade beef because it's getting just mixed in with everything.
31:38
SPEAKER_01: And I mean, there's some rough cows coming through the auctions.
31:45
SPEAKER_01: Um, and so all of that just gets mixed together, and so really, you know, there is no there's no market for well, until now, there wasn't much of a market for the old dairy cows because um they were ending up in ground beef because basically they are a capitalist system nightmare in that the cows, every single cow comes out different.
32:15
SPEAKER_01: You do not get a uniform product.
32:17
SPEAKER_01: So their fat is a different color, their meat is a different color.
32:23
SPEAKER_01: I've had cows, so I basically I treat each cow more like a vintage wine than beef.
32:30
SPEAKER_01: So every cow has its own individual thing.
32:33
SPEAKER_01: Uh, I price it based on age, breed, color of the fat, marbling, all that.
32:39
SPEAKER_01: And so, I mean, I've had cows all the same breed, all the same farm, similar genetics, exact same feed, and they all come out completely different, which I have built my business around that being a good thing.
32:52
SPEAKER_01: But if you're trying to mass produce, that's a nightmare.
32:57
SPEAKER_01: And the ironically, on the commodity market, because a lot of the cows will have this really beautiful yellow fat, which has like a lot of flavor and it's a reflection of the beta carotene in it.
33:09
SPEAKER_01: That's been producers' nightmare because they're like, no one will buy yellow fat.
33:14
SPEAKER_01: It's you know, they think it's weird, it looks weird, we can't sell it.
33:19
SPEAKER_01: We can't sell anything with yellow fat.
33:20
SPEAKER_01: Whereas now, in my on the opposite end of the spectrum for my business, the yellow fat cows are actually my most valuable, and I've had them go for as high as$250 a pound on steaks.
33:32
SPEAKER_01: So it's like totally opposite, but they were the people seeking out the most yellow.
33:39
SPEAKER_01: Like, I get that is a very specific request I get.
33:42
SPEAKER_01: It's like, I want a box of beef with the most yellow fat.
33:46
SPEAKER_01: So just had to find the yellow fat freaks.
33:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, exactly.
33:52
SPEAKER_00: So it's like people finding that on their own because they know, or it's like a specific marketing strategy, even that you have, because I imagine it's like, yeah, people don't know till they know.
34:04
SPEAKER_01: It's funny, I people if they've traveled to Europe and had it, so I've had clients that like because this beef is really big in Spain, so Spain's been doing this forever, um, where they buy Apple dairy cows and they'll put them out for like another two, three, four years on pasture, get them older.
34:23
SPEAKER_01: And um, and so I've I have a set of customers that it's like they've had steak in Spain and they were trying to find it here and couldn't.
34:33
SPEAKER_01: And so then they found me and they're like, I want that, you know, Spanish style.
34:38
SPEAKER_01: So I think the other people that know about yellow fat, it's mainly an Instagram thing.
34:44
SPEAKER_01: I think that that's gained a lot of it is videos from Spain of steakhouses there, of like the top steakhouses in the world posting yellow fat.
34:53
SPEAKER_01: There's another breed in Spain called the Rubia Gallega, and they produce yellow fat, and I think that's actually helped the dairy because it looks a lot like the dairy beef, and so it that has triggered people also wondering about the yellow fat.
35:10
SPEAKER_01: So Instagram has really driven people seeking yellow fat.
35:14
SPEAKER_00: I bet.
35:15
SPEAKER_00: I bet because it's so visual, the way you can present it, it's so visual, it hits your taste buds.
35:21
SPEAKER_00: I always feel hungry after I see your posts.
35:23
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they just look so hungry.
35:25
SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, and how how do you pronounce your business?
35:31
SPEAKER_01: For Freud dairy beef.
35:34
SPEAKER_00: Okay, because I never know.
35:36
SPEAKER_01: I'm so glad I asked you.
35:37
SPEAKER_01: Most people don't.
35:39
SPEAKER_01: Um, it means the joy of anticipation, which I feel like really sums up farming.
35:46
SPEAKER_01: You know, it's like if you're doing vegetables, you plant them in spring, harvest in the fall, you know what's gonna come up.
35:52
SPEAKER_01: For me, each cow is four Freud because I'm like, what color is the fat gonna be?
35:56
SPEAKER_01: What's it gonna look like?
35:57
SPEAKER_01: Each cow is a little Christmas surprise.
36:00
SPEAKER_01: And so um I thought it was very fitting in that sense.
36:05
SPEAKER_01: And I'd lived in Austria and worked at an agriculture school, and they love their dairy cows in Austria.
36:12
SPEAKER_01: I mean, they are some of the most well-cared for cows in the world, so I really wanted to bring that German presence too into the business.
36:21
SPEAKER_00: I love that.
36:22
SPEAKER_00: You were saying, though, also that to go back to stripping, like stripping is the best thing that ever happened to you.
36:31
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
36:33
SPEAKER_00: Why do you think that is?
36:36
SPEAKER_01: Um when I look at everything, it like I guess this this is where my passion lies.
36:44
SPEAKER_01: I just love talking about this industry so much, and I think it's funny because people, I'd say it's the one people love asking the most about, too.
36:52
SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's they're all very interesting industries, but it's such a taboo industry, you know.
36:56
SPEAKER_01: It's like, ooh, what goes on?
36:58
SPEAKER_01: But it's we're in an era right now where this is coming out a lot more and a lot more women are speaking out in the industry, normalizing it.
37:06
SPEAKER_01: The rise of OnlyFans has really, I think, normalized this industry and the conversations around it.
37:11
SPEAKER_01: Um, but for me, there's so many layers why it was the best decision of my life.
37:17
SPEAKER_01: I think one of them is just everyone it's connected me with.
37:20
SPEAKER_01: And I said to someone the other day, I was like, how do people run businesses without being a stripper?
37:24
SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't even know where I would be if I hadn't had all the connections or all the lessons that I've learned there.
37:35
SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, like for example, there's a guy that comes into work who he works at a print shop.
37:44
SPEAKER_01: So, and he really loves to like help everyone with some of their stuff.
37:49
SPEAKER_01: So, like all my business cards, all my banners, all my vinyl stuff, all my brochures, all of that was all printed for free.
37:55
SPEAKER_01: Like he has saved me so much money.
37:59
SPEAKER_01: And like I've just had you know, that connection.
38:03
SPEAKER_01: Um, the networking of customers, like I said, you know, being able to sell beef to them, the mentorship of learning from all these people that I've met in there and continue to learn from them and these relationships that I build.
38:20
SPEAKER_01: And then on a financial level, too, at one point, it was like two years ago, I had this sugar daddy.
38:29
SPEAKER_01: I'd never even met him.
38:31
SPEAKER_01: He was in California, and he helped me, he split my tractor with me, he split my cow driver with me.
38:40
SPEAKER_01: Like so, like there was also just this like startup funds help from the industry, you know, and really leveraging and combining both those things.
38:52
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I've said I'm gonna write a book called How to Build a Farm with Your Vagina.
39:01
SPEAKER_00: Yes, please do that.
39:03
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I would be like I got gutters built for me.
39:09
SPEAKER_01: I was like, I got gutters built for me, that's how you get your hay moved.
39:13
SPEAKER_01: Like, I think that's also another thing in being a woman in farming, is and having the background of working in the sex industry, is I'm like, and that's this is this is why the world hates sex workers, is because they have figured out if I lived in a patriarchal society, this is how I leverage my femininity to get ahead.
39:37
SPEAKER_01: And so I, you know, I think when sex workers recognize that if I lean into this, I can make money off of this, things will get done for me.
39:53
SPEAKER_01: Like, so I'm like, like, use your hot girl presence to get shit done.
40:00
SPEAKER_01: Like, and you know, I've I hear people be like, oh, that's so manipulative, and blah blah blah.
40:06
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, there is an exchange going on.
40:11
SPEAKER_01: This person is getting what they want, whether they want to feel like a white knight, whether they want to feel powerful, whether they want to And we all have choices.
40:20
SPEAKER_00: We all have choices.
40:21
SPEAKER_00: It's a choice to be wooed by your vagina.
40:25
SPEAKER_00: I mean, they do not make that choice.
40:28
SPEAKER_00: And I also feel like haters probably in the patriarchal world, they're just like, oh, well, I can't make money off of her vagina, so that's why it's bad.
40:36
SPEAKER_00: Or it's people who are like so repressed and confused in their own sexuality that might be.
40:42
SPEAKER_01: Completely.
40:43
SPEAKER_01: And I, you know, I've heard people ask like about sugar daddies or like men that kind of do the paid girlfriend experience, things like that.
40:52
SPEAKER_01: They're like, are these men ugly?
40:55
SPEAKER_01: Are they stupid?
40:56
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, no, they're smart.
40:59
SPEAKER_01: Like, they're busy, they know what they want, and this makes it cut and dry.
41:06
SPEAKER_00: And um perhaps it as well.
41:10
SPEAKER_00: It's just like clear boundaries, clear boundaries outside of here.
41:16
SPEAKER_01: Like, I'm paying you for this thing, for this thing, and I just think it's so funny the projections that people put on it.
41:25
SPEAKER_01: And I think one of my favorite things that I hear men describe as like why they like strip clubs or sex workers, is it's like they're so overwhelmed and so busy in their own life, and they're like, all I have to do is pay, and that's it.
41:45
SPEAKER_01: Like, it's like, you know, whether it's at the bar, whether it's at dinner, what you know, whatever.
41:51
SPEAKER_01: It's like that's all this person needs from me is to like be polite and give money.
41:57
SPEAKER_01: This is amazing.
42:00
SPEAKER_00: I mean, it makes sense.
42:02
SPEAKER_00: I think it makes it sense, yeah.
42:04
SPEAKER_01: But people are just looking, you know, for a relief button.
42:07
SPEAKER_00: Um well, and I think about for me, even being an entrepreneur now for 24 years, which is not for the faint of heart, the networking piece alone makes so much sense because really my entire business has been word of mouth, and it's just like you said, you have those right connections.
42:25
SPEAKER_00: It's everything, it's everything for your business.
42:29
SPEAKER_01: And I think the real big thing it was risk.
42:36
SPEAKER_01: Like I said, there's so much.
42:38
SPEAKER_01: I've heard this one business guy say, no risk it, no biscuit.
42:43
SPEAKER_01: And being, yeah, being able to discuss risk choices with these with these business people and hearing them be like, no, I think you're on the right track.
42:53
SPEAKER_01: And um, but what was I gonna say?
42:57
SPEAKER_01: Oh, and back to why it was the best decision of my life, is it also, I feel like, in a lot of ways, I've had such a long history of so many health problems.
43:07
SPEAKER_01: Like, since I was little, I was in specialist office of just like what is going on with this kid's body of pain and random symptoms that didn't have diagnoses, and I mean, just like constantly.
43:22
SPEAKER_01: I mean, that was kind of my full-time job, I'd say, through past college of just like unmanageable, undiagnosable pain, head to toe, changing symptoms, seemingly random things.
43:40
SPEAKER_01: And when I went into stripping, it was like a container of this is something I can do.
43:51
SPEAKER_01: And like something productive with my body, something with agency over my body.
43:57
SPEAKER_01: It really gave me agency over it, which I think is also one of those.
44:01
SPEAKER_01: Big misunderstandings of it.
44:02
SPEAKER_01: You know, you're like, oh, you're being exploited, blah, blah, blah.
44:05
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, you know what's being exploited is being at a job where you're not getting paid well and being talked down to and you can't leave.
44:10
SPEAKER_01: Like.
44:12
SPEAKER_01: And so giving me agency and expression and movement in a way that my body could handle, and being surrounded by very empowered women in a different way.
44:29
SPEAKER_01: I don't know of many other places where you can repeatedly be surrounded by women like that.
44:35
SPEAKER_01: You know, like you can go to retreats, you can go to these things, but I'm like, every week you can count on just like this dressing room full of women who you don't know their name, you don't, you've never seen them before, and they're like bending over and spreading their cheeks, asking if you can see their tampon string.
45:01
SPEAKER_00: It's like, I mean, that is just so so perfect because my question for everybody on this show is like a time when you felt like you were really struggling or desperate or lost in what brought you back to yourself.
45:17
SPEAKER_00: You are saying finding stripper hood, finding yourself in this dressing room with some strangers, ass cheeks spread over.
45:28
SPEAKER_00: Asking you if you can see her tampon.
45:31
SPEAKER_00: I mean, mic drop.
45:33
SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
45:34
SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
45:35
SPEAKER_01: It's special, it's special sisterhood.
45:39
SPEAKER_01: And you're just like, and everyone thinks this is normal, and you're just like, no, you're good.
45:46
SPEAKER_00: It is normal.
45:47
SPEAKER_00: It's normal in that environment, though.
45:50
SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
45:51
SPEAKER_01: It is well, and I think the world would be a lot better place if it was normal in a lot of places.
45:57
SPEAKER_00: Um there wasn't so much shame around.
46:00
SPEAKER_00: I mean, you might not go and do that in like your church or whatever, but like in a strict position.
46:06
SPEAKER_00: Totally appropriate, totally and completely appropriate.
46:11
SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
46:12
SPEAKER_01: And I think just being around being around that expression, that freedom, you know, ever since I was little, like my friend and I loved to go into the woods and run around naked, like we're just like naked babies all the time.
46:24
SPEAKER_01: And I would ride my horse topless, and like she and I would take all these like naked photos in the woods and stuff, and everyone was like, that's so weird, blah blah blah.
46:33
SPEAKER_00: And how old were you though?
46:37
SPEAKER_01: Um we did it in like middle school, high school.
46:43
SPEAKER_01: We were just always naked, just free spirits, and um no, and it was around that time too that I did my first naked photo shoot, and that was also one of those like I am in so much pain, I cannot do anything with my body without just being like flat out, debilitated, all these different things, and I was like, I can make art with it, I can make photos with it.
47:11
SPEAKER_01: And just the reactions that you get from a naked woman on the internet, you know, and it's like you're not gonna be able to get jobs, you're gonna get this, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
47:23
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, joke's on you, I want to work for myself.
47:26
SPEAKER_01: Um, but like how the environment that that industry provided of just being around so many embodied people, so much nudity and normalizing of it, and seeing every body, shape, size, everything, and seeing how beautiful all those different things can be.
47:56
SPEAKER_01: So I think just it's was it provided such a rare environment to be in that over and over and over again, not just the retreat once a year, but every single week, you're like, I get to go be in that little girl party.
48:14
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then also see like how much it's wanted, right?
48:17
SPEAKER_00: By like all kinds of different men, even that come in and like what they're attracted to.
48:22
SPEAKER_00: Like, I just think it would be so fascinating, really, to be in and and to watch and be part of.
48:29
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I think too it I think one of the other big things from it and learning this navigating business in the world, also is it's really where you see, you know, we live in a patriarchal society.
48:43
SPEAKER_01: The patriarchy hurts everybody.
48:46
SPEAKER_01: And you see that in the club, in the customers that you get, and like you get these men that just want to not be in power, that want just that release point, that want, you know, they say like men that are higher up are usually like the ones that want to be domed because they just like want a relief point.
49:09
SPEAKER_01: And how many just want to like talk and just be like hugged and are just missing that connection or need a place to talk about their sexless marriage?
49:24
SPEAKER_01: Or, you know, there was one guy that like his wife had died suddenly, and that was just where he came for physical touch, and he was like, This literally kept me from killing myself was having this space to like come and feel supported, you know, when I was in a dark place at 10 o'clock at night.
49:44
SPEAKER_01: So really showing you the vulnerable side of men, and people are like, Oh, don't you hate men working in the industry?
49:49
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, No, I love men, like I think men are amazing.
49:52
SPEAKER_01: As a whole, they're not doing great in their representation of the world, but like you get a lot of people.
50:00
SPEAKER_00: But you know what I love about that too, is I as I love that men are showing up in person to have some needs met because there is such a porn addiction, which is like a whole other podcast topic.
50:13
SPEAKER_00: Um, but they but here they are showing up in person for real life connection, and to me, that's like I mean, that's beautiful.
50:22
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, and that's kind of been one of the downfalls too of the stigmatizing of the industry is not just stigmatizing the women in it, but the men that access it.
50:31
SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, that's not doing anyone any favors either, because this is actually helping society as a whole.
50:40
SPEAKER_00: So many, yeah.
50:42
SPEAKER_01: So um beautiful.
50:44
SPEAKER_00: Well, I feel like that is a really nice departure point.
50:50
SPEAKER_00: Um, I definitely, definitely want everybody to know about your beef business.
50:54
SPEAKER_00: Is there anybody or any way that you would like to be known, be supported by our conversation, other than like some incredible sugar daddies?
51:07
SPEAKER_00: If they listen to this at some point, um, you never know.
51:11
SPEAKER_00: What what else could support you right now?
51:14
SPEAKER_01: Um buying beef.
51:19
SPEAKER_01: Following following the business, spreading the word about the business.
51:23
SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm really wanting to grow like the local crowd.
51:29
SPEAKER_01: Uh, because I've the focus was really shipping until the summer.
51:33
SPEAKER_01: And I'm gonna be working on I'm I'm starting a nonprofit sector of the business to help get beef into local food pantries.
51:42
SPEAKER_01: So because they lost a lot of funding under the current government for protein.
51:47
SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'm gonna be making a landing page for people to do donations.
51:53
SPEAKER_01: And you know, it's one of those even like monthly subscriptions of five dollars a month, and what a big difference it makes, kind of thing.
52:01
SPEAKER_01: Um so that's gonna be coming.
52:04
SPEAKER_01: And hopefully we're gonna be organizing a sex worker fundraiser for that.
52:10
SPEAKER_01: That is one of the ways I'm like, this is how we can combine the industries together.
52:15
SPEAKER_00: Yes.
52:16
SPEAKER_00: Well, and your farm, what is your farm called?
52:19
SPEAKER_00: Stripper farm.
52:20
SPEAKER_01: Stripper ranch.
52:24
SPEAKER_00: So your next vision goal is some land.
52:28
SPEAKER_01: Right first, yes, land, my own land is the next move because I am spread out on like six properties right now.
52:36
SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, this is too much.
52:39
SPEAKER_01: I'm pretty much paying mortgage and rent.
52:42
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you've been looking for that for a couple of years since I've known you.
52:46
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, and really honing in.
52:51
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm really honing in on it this summer because it's really it's fine, it's like this is the next step.
52:57
SPEAKER_01: So I've been trying to clear space to let it in because things were just getting a little too hectic and busy, and I was like, bitch, the universe ain't gonna hand you a property if you can't even handle what's going on now.
53:10
SPEAKER_00: So isn't that the truth?
53:15
SPEAKER_00: Wow, another brilliance of yeah, and just in working with you, that's another brilliance of yours as well, is just understanding the energy of things.
53:23
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you've got this.
53:25
SPEAKER_00: Well, I will definitely put all of your stuff in the show notes and make sure people know how to support your beef business, which is so conscious and intentional and amazing and supportive of women and sex workers and all things.
