• 1:00
SPEAKER_03: This is Liz Wilton from the Home of Fertility.
• 1:03
SPEAKER_03: And today I'm having and speaking to a beautiful woman who's created an amazing product.
• 1:10
  SPEAKER_03: And this is Scylla.
• 1:12
  SPEAKER_03: Hello, Scylla.
• 1:12
SPEAKER_03: Is that am I pronouncing that right, Scylla?
• 1:15
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, correct.
• 1:16
  SPEAKER_00: Hi Liz.
• 1:16
  SPEAKER_00: How are you?
• 1:17
SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for having me on your show.
• 1:19
SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's like an absolute pleasure.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_03: Thank you for coming on and for sharing your story.
• 1:25
SPEAKER_03: And your product is Not Coffee, which I'm so excited about.
• 1:31
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
• 1:33
SPEAKER_00: And I'm really looking forward to sharing all about Not Coffee and my journey with all your listeners.
• 1:41
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, me too.
• 1:43
SPEAKER_03: So let's share who you are, beautiful Scylla.
• 1:46
SPEAKER_03: So I'll share who you are, and then we'll start going into a wonderful conversation of how Not Coffee was created.
• 1:54
SPEAKER_03: So Silla Gatti is the founder of Not Coffee, Australia's fastest growing caffeine-free coffee alternative.
• 2:03
SPEAKER_03: Yay! So after being diagnosed with grave disease, Silla was told she needed to give up coffee.
• 2:14
  SPEAKER_03: It's a loved one, isn't it?
• 2:16
  SPEAKER_03: Coffee.
• 2:17
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
• 2:18
SPEAKER_03: Faced with the lack of satisfying alternatives, she created Not Coffee, just awesome on you, a range designed to look, brew, and taste like coffee without caffeine or the stimulants.
• 2:32
SPEAKER_03: Now, today, Not Coffee is enjoyed by thousands across Australia and stocked in leading health food stores.
• 2:38
SPEAKER_03: She's passionate about health, passionate about hormones, and helping others on a fertility journey as well as journey of wellness.
• 2:47
SPEAKER_03: And Silla continues to inspire everyone with her story of turning struggle into purpose.
• 2:53
  SPEAKER_03: And I love that.
• 2:54
SPEAKER_03: Well done, you, my lovely.
• 2:57
  SPEAKER_03: Thank you, Liz.
• 2:58
  SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
• 2:59
  SPEAKER_03: So let's start off.
• 3:00
SPEAKER_03: Please, Scylla, you know, share with us your journey of health and healing and how this led you to creating your amazing product, not coffee.
• 3:13
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for sure.
• 3:14
SPEAKER_00: So uh first of all, I'll just tell your listeners a little bit about what not coffee is so they have a good context because I tell people uh about not coffee and they're like, well, what's not coffee?
• 3:27
SPEAKER_00: It's we know it's not coffee, but what is it?
• 3:29
  SPEAKER_00: What is it?
• 3:30
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's a good point.
• 3:31
  SPEAKER_00: Good idea.
• 3:33
SPEAKER_00: So not coffee is a caffeine-free coffee alternative that I created to look at and taste as close to coffee as possible without any of the caffeine, without any of the stimulants.
• 3:44
SPEAKER_00: Uh, I created it for people who love their coffee, love their coffee ritual, but can't drink coffee anymore or just want to reduce that caffeine intake.
• 3:54
SPEAKER_00: So it's like I said, it's not coffee, it's a chicory-based um alternative, and there's a bit of carab in there as well.
• 4:03
SPEAKER_00: And I've got two varieties: one is an instant version and one is a ground version.
• 4:08
SPEAKER_00: So whether you're an instant coffee lover or a ground coffee lover that loves to brew their coffee in a coffee machine or a coffee maker, we've got solutions for both.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_00: So how not coffee came about is because I had health issues and I had to stop drinking coffee myself, and um and I couldn't find a suitable alternative.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_00: So I was like, okay, well, maybe I should create one for myself.
• 4:37
SPEAKER_00: And so that's how I the idea came about.
• 4:42
SPEAKER_00: Uh about I'd say it was about maybe six years ago now, I was diagnosed with Graves disease.
• 4:52
SPEAKER_00: It's a thyroid condition, uh, it's a it and it creates uh a hyperthyroid, hyperthyroidism effect in the in the thyroid.
• 5:00
SPEAKER_00: So my hormones, my thyroid hormones, it was just being it was producing too, too many hormones.
• 5:08
SPEAKER_00: And um I started to um see the symptoms and when I got some checks done with my GP and they found that my hormone levels were elevated and send me sent me to a specialist, and the specialist said, Okay, after further tests, you've got Graves disease, you're gonna need to take this pill, and that'll just balance your hormones.
• 5:33
SPEAKER_00: I was kind of a little bit like, oh, okay, is that is that just what I have to do now?
• 5:39
SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, why why did I develop this?
• 5:42
  SPEAKER_00: Is there a reason?
• 5:44
SPEAKER_00: Is there a root cause to it?
• 5:45
SPEAKER_00: So I was kind of asking those questions at the time to my endocrinologists, and they said, Oh no, it's probably just a genetic condition, or there's really no no answer to why you you might have this.
• 5:58
SPEAKER_00: And I said, Well, could it be lifestyle related?
• 6:02
SPEAKER_00: And he said, No, no, no, it's got nothing to do with what you're eating or drinking or your lifestyle.
• 6:06
SPEAKER_00: And I said, Okay, but in my gut, I was like, I don't know.
• 6:11
SPEAKER_00: I I feel like maybe there's something that I could do to possibly heal, heal this or make things a little bit better for myself and my symptoms naturally.
• 6:23
SPEAKER_00: So I ended up taking the the tab the tablets, which was one a day, and I kind of didn't question things any further than that.
• 6:34
SPEAKER_00: My symptoms did start to ease, and I was on my thyroid medication for about a year or so, and then I started to develop other issues, and I hadn't changed my lifestyle at all this point, still over-caffeinating, still overstimulating, still um putting my body through all sorts, going to the gym, not eating enough, not nourishing myself, and um, yeah, just not being mindful of what I was eating, what I was drinking, all that kind of stuff.
• 7:05
SPEAKER_00: So I started to develop other symptoms and they were quite debilitating.
• 7:10
SPEAKER_00: Uh, one of those symptoms was vertigo, it was quite severe vertigo.
• 7:14
SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you've ever had vertigo, Liz, but it's very debilitating, and your whole world is kind of just spinning around you, and there's nothing you can do about it.
• 7:26
SPEAKER_00: And that coupled with um this strange blocked ear, and can the continued, um, obviously the continued thyroid problems, severe anxiety.
• 7:38
SPEAKER_00: So all these things happening.
• 7:40
SPEAKER_00: I went to see a GP, they did scans, and couldn't find anything wrong with me.
• 7:46
SPEAKER_00: And yet I still had these symptoms.
• 7:50
SPEAKER_00: And I was like, so well, what how how am I gonna live like this?
• 7:54
SPEAKER_00: Like I can't, and I and at the time I was I didn't have my business, not coffee, obviously.
• 8:01
SPEAKER_00: Um, I was working, and you know, I thought to myself, well, what if I started a family one day?
• 8:07
  SPEAKER_00: I can't, I can't deal with this.
• 8:09
SPEAKER_00: I can't be bedridden, not being able to look after, say if I've got children, or I have to do something about this.
• 8:15
SPEAKER_00: Because it was, it was at a point where I was bedridden and I couldn't get out of bed.
• 8:20
  SPEAKER_04: Wow.
• 8:21
SPEAKER_00: So I actually um what during one of those moments where I couldn't get out of bed, I was just praying to God and I was like, I was like, God, please, I don't know why I'm going through this, I don't know how I'm gonna get better.
• 8:35
SPEAKER_00: I said, but please let there be a blessing behind this, please.
• 8:40
SPEAKER_00: And it was yeah, and then I kind of uh yeah, kept going for a while like that, and then I thought maybe I can take a natural approach to my healing.
• 8:51
SPEAKER_00: So I researched and I thought maybe I'll see a Chinese medicine doctor.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_00: Because I've had friends and family in the past see Chinese medicine doctor doctors for other other issues, and they've seemed to get positive results.
• 9:04
SPEAKER_00: So I found someone close to me, and um she's she actually absolutely changed my life.
• 9:12
SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so I was a bit skeptical at first.
• 9:16
SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, the doctors can't help me.
• 9:18
SPEAKER_00: How is this really gonna help?
• 9:20
SPEAKER_00: But I have to try something.
• 9:22
SPEAKER_00: So she um she kind of went through my history and not just like the last couple of years or what my thyroid condition was or what my lifestyle was in the last couple of years.
• 9:36
SPEAKER_00: She asked me things about what I was doing 15 years ago, 20 years ago with my diet, my stress levels, had I been under um general anesthetic, had I been had major surgeries, you know, all these things they we don't realize, but they have an effect on our body, like antibiotics, for example, had I had I been taking antibiotics.
• 10:02
SPEAKER_00: And there were absolutely periods in my life where I was on antibiotics quite a bit.
• 10:08
SPEAKER_00: I was under, I did go on and under genital anesthetic, had major surgeries, um, and especially in my 20s, wasn't looking after my body uh well at all.
• 10:18
SPEAKER_00: I think I had maybe a form of body dysmorphia in a sense.
• 10:23
SPEAKER_00: So I was very critical of myself, didn't eat much, over-trained, drank too much coffee, took too many stimulants to keep me going through the day, didn't nourish myself.
• 10:34
SPEAKER_00: So all these things I felt like probably did add up.
• 10:39
SPEAKER_00: And then in my 30s, that's when the um thyroid no issues, yeah, thyroid thyroid issues and all the other issues manifested.
• 10:49
SPEAKER_00: So she went through all that and she said, okay, um what I can see, you've got an imbalance in your liver, and and imbalance in the liver actually, that's what the root cause is, first of all, of your thyroid problems, but your vertigo, your blocked ER, your anxiety.
• 11:07
SPEAKER_00: It's like this this draught that's running through your body almost, and it's just like all up here.
• 11:15
SPEAKER_00: And I found it just so interesting that that she said that it did make sense, but I was like, okay, so how are we gonna fix this?
• 11:22
SPEAKER_00: She said, first we need to balance your liver, and um, and that means uh lifestyle change, diet change, and that's um quitting uh gluten, dairy, alcohol, caffeine, um, eating more proteins, eating more veggies.
• 11:41
SPEAKER_00: So that was just the first step, more water.
• 11:44
SPEAKER_00: And I did take some um some Chinese like supplements, Chinese medicine supplements and herbs as well, and did some acupuncture with that.
• 11:52
SPEAKER_00: But the the main thing she wanted me to do was the lifestyle change.
• 11:56
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 11:57
SPEAKER_00: And I said, Yeah, absolutely, no worries.
• 12:00
SPEAKER_00: Um, but how how I'm happy to quit everything, but what about the coffee thing?
• 12:05
SPEAKER_00: Do I really need to get rid of that?
• 12:06
SPEAKER_00: And she said, Yes, how did that feel?
• 12:08
SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, giving up your ritual, right?
• 12:11
SPEAKER_00: So she said, Um, yes, Ashley, the coffee thing is a big thing, the caffeine thing is a big thing.
• 12:18
SPEAKER_00: So not only um are you gonna need to stop coffee for a while, that includes decaf because that's still got caffeine in it, um, black tea as well, matcha, green tea, mushroom coffee alternatives, because they've still got stimulating and invigorating ingredients.
• 12:38
SPEAKER_00: Some of these things, even if they've got no caffeine as such, they've still got ingredients that have that stimulating effect on your body.
• 12:46
SPEAKER_00: And we can't have any of that.
• 12:47
  SPEAKER_00: We really can't.
• 12:48
  SPEAKER_03: Still a stimulant, yeah.
• 12:50
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 12:51
SPEAKER_00: So I said, Oh god, like I can't live without my coffee.
• 12:55
SPEAKER_00: It's just such a big part of my day, it's such a big part of my morning because I actually used to go to bed at night in the evening, thinking about looking forward to the coffee I was gonna have the next day.
• 13:08
  SPEAKER_00: So that's wow, yeah.
• 13:09
  SPEAKER_03: How interesting.
• 13:10
  SPEAKER_03: How interesting.
• 13:12
SPEAKER_00: And I'm sure there are other people that feel feel the same way.
• 13:16
SPEAKER_00: And it's also even just uh mid-morning uh getting up from your desk uh and making a coffee.
• 13:22
SPEAKER_00: It's a ritual, it's just it's a time for you to that break, right?
• 13:29
SPEAKER_00: So she said if you really want, if you're serious about your healing, please just I recommend just you do what I tell you to do and then yeah.
• 13:39
  SPEAKER_00: So I did, I did, I stopped everything.
• 13:43
SPEAKER_00: Um after a coup, and it was fine, the gluten, the dairy, all that was relatively easy for me to to give up alcohol because I wasn't ever really a big drinker.
• 13:53
SPEAKER_00: Um, but the coffee thing.
• 13:56
SPEAKER_00: So uh if anyone who's listening is a coffee addict and has ever tried a lot, I think, in Australia.
• 14:03
SPEAKER_00: So I think this is just ever tried to stop drinking coffee, they know exactly how it feels the withdrawals, the headaches, the lack of energy, not wanting to get out of bed, you're miserable.
• 14:19
SPEAKER_00: So I went through all of that and it was not great, but the headaches were just the worst because it's you're it's a drug.
• 14:27
SPEAKER_00: Essentially, it is a drug.
• 14:28
SPEAKER_00: And I know there are people that say, Oh, but coffee is good for you.
• 14:32
SPEAKER_00: Oh, but you know, but if it was so good for you, and I'm sure it has its benefits, but if it was so good for you, then why would it have that effect on you when you're trying to give up like a drug, right?
• 14:44
SPEAKER_00: So that's what that's what I I kind of if you've got if you're that reliant on something, if your body is that reliant on something, then it can't be that good for you.
• 14:54
  SPEAKER_03: Talk about balance, yeah.
• 14:55
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and what's one, what's good for one is not always good for another.
• 14:59
SPEAKER_00: And that's my other thing that I tell people if coffee may be good for someone else, and they can drink it all they want and it won't have an effect on them, but it's it may just not be, you know, suitable for you.
• 15:12
SPEAKER_00: And and I get so many people reaching out to me saying, Yeah, just it just does not agree with me.
• 15:18
SPEAKER_00: It may be deep 10 years ago, five years ago, but for some reason they've developed health issues, their bodies have changed.
• 15:25
SPEAKER_00: You know, our bodies do change over time, we're never the same as what we were a year ago, six months ago, uh, 10 years ago.
• 15:33
SPEAKER_00: And you know, there are people that develop intolerances to like gluten and and certain things like that after a certain age as well.
• 15:39
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
• 15:41
SPEAKER_00: So um, yeah, so I went through I went through all the withdrawals and then about two weeks into giving coffee, give giving up, sorry, giving up coffee, I I got over the caffeine addiction.
• 15:54
SPEAKER_00: But what I missed the most was just sitting at my desk with something that felt like I was drinking a coffee.
• 16:00
SPEAKER_00: Like herbal tea kind of didn't cut it, and I couldn't drink black tea as well or chai, yeah, um, or matcha because they all had caffeine.
• 16:07
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 16:08
SPEAKER_00: Um so I was really limited, and I woke up one morning and I was like, I wish there was something that looked like coffee, tasted like coffee, acted like coffee, or I could make it like coffee, and it tasted like as close to coffee as possible, didn't have any of the caffeines.
• 16:26
SPEAKER_00: It was okay for my condition and my healing.
• 16:28
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I thought, hang on, there must be something.
• 16:31
SPEAKER_00: So I did some research, couldn't find anything.
• 16:34
SPEAKER_00: And then I thought maybe I can create something.
• 16:36
SPEAKER_00: And then I did some research and I looked up ingredients that could possibly taste like coffee.
• 16:44
SPEAKER_00: And then I just thought, hang on, I'll just order all these ingredients from iHerb.com and blend and mix and put something together, and I did, and then I created something that I enjoyed drinking.
• 17:00
SPEAKER_03: That is awesome, and I suppose it would have been lots of different trying out to create that that special um mix.
• 17:10
SPEAKER_00: Hey, yeah, yeah, absolutely it did, and there were some ingredients there that was like no, I don't like this, and then just the ratios, and um, and then yeah, it finally came up with something, and and I was drinking it, and then I thought to myself, uh, hang on a minute.
• 17:28
SPEAKER_00: I'm I've got a marketing background, so my mind excellent.
• 17:33
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
• 17:34
SPEAKER_00: And I thought to myself, hang on, there are probably other people that are in my in the same position I'm in for whatever reason.
• 17:41
SPEAKER_00: They've either had to give up coffee and they or they've just sort of reduced that caffeine intake and they can't have the decaf or they can't have anything else.
• 17:51
SPEAKER_00: And I thought, what if I market this product and what if I put it out there and see if I can help other people that are in the same position as me?
• 18:00
SPEAKER_00: And the the the the um the name, the the brand name not coffee actually it just came to me one morning, it was just like that exactly that same morning that I was like, I wish there was something that looked like coffee, tasted like coffee, it wasn't coffee.
• 18:15
SPEAKER_00: Um and that's when I was like, oh, not coffee.
• 18:17
SPEAKER_00: What if it was not coffee?
• 18:19
SPEAKER_00: And so it kind of just came from yeah, an idea, and and that's where the where the journey began.
• 18:27
SPEAKER_00: And about four, and if you're wondering about the healing journey and yeah, how how I went with that.
• 18:34
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, how did that go?
• 18:35
  SPEAKER_00: Good idea, yes, absolutely.
• 18:37
SPEAKER_00: About four to five months into my lifestyle change and um and the quick queen coffee, gluten, dairy, all that stuff, I actually was able to get off my thyroid meds.
• 18:52
  SPEAKER_03: Wow.
• 18:53
SPEAKER_00: And yeah, that was about four more than four years ago now, and I haven't relapsed.
• 18:59
  SPEAKER_00: I'm the healthiest I've ever been, I I believe.
• 19:03
SPEAKER_00: And yeah, I'm just um and yeah, not coffee was born out of all of that, and it's just been an exciting journey since.
• 19:11
SPEAKER_00: And I'm just so grateful that um I haven't relapsed and my condition is is fine now.
• 19:18
  SPEAKER_00: That is awesome.
• 19:20
SPEAKER_03: So by being able to change um your products and basically clearing out the system, you've now been able to get off your medication and actually be the healthiest part of being you.
• 19:32
  SPEAKER_03: Is that right?
• 19:33
  SPEAKER_03: Yes, absolutely.
• 19:34
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
• 19:35
SPEAKER_03: That is just so awesome.
• 19:37
SPEAKER_03: And then from this is creating this big product.
• 19:41
SPEAKER_03: So why do you think?
• 19:42
SPEAKER_03: I mean, it's like you said, we're all there's so many of us where our bodies change and we have different things happening in our life.
• 19:49
SPEAKER_03: So why would you think, you know, it's good to um um like be, you know, not to have coffee, say, through fertility, and when we're told to have a fertility journey?
• 20:01
  SPEAKER_00: I think sorry.
• 20:04
SPEAKER_00: So if we relate it specifically to fertility, I think health professionals do often recommend uh reducing or quitting caffeine we're trying to conceive, because caffeine can affect the body in ways that aren't always supportive of fertility.
• 20:20
SPEAKER_00: And re and and some research has shown that high caffeine intake may interfere with hormone balance.
• 20:28
SPEAKER_00: And I believe, and there's there are so many people going through hormonal issues at the moment.
• 20:33
SPEAKER_00: Like I go out and I uh do tasting sessions at the health food stores that stock that stock not coffee, and I'm always meeting people.
• 20:41
SPEAKER_00: And I ask them, well, would you like to try some not coffee?
• 20:44
SPEAKER_00: And then we're like, oh, okay, yeah, absolutely.
• 20:46
SPEAKER_00: And I'll ask them about, you know, are they coffee drinkers?
• 20:48
SPEAKER_00: And they're like, no, I actually can't because of you know, I've got gut issues or hormonal issues or heart problems, or you know, so yeah, there are just so many more people that are just developing health issues and are just a more mindful about what they're putting into their body.
• 21:04
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 21:05
SPEAKER_00: So um, yeah, so as I was mentioning, research does show that high caffeine intake may interfere with um with hormone balance and make it harder for the body to absorb um like certain nutrients and and maybe even affect blood flow to to the uterus.
• 21:24
SPEAKER_00: And it can also contribute to stress on the nervous system, which isn't really ideal when you're trying to create the best environment for conception.
• 21:34
  SPEAKER_04: Okay.
• 21:35
SPEAKER_00: So I think that the important thing to remember is I mean, it's not about saying that coffee is bad, like what I mentioned before, what's good for one person isn't always good for another.
• 21:47
SPEAKER_00: It's about giving your body the best chance by minimizing things that might get in the way.
• 21:53
SPEAKER_00: And yeah, that's where I guess not coffee comes in.
• 21:56
SPEAKER_00: It just lets people keep that coffee ritual without that caffeine load.
• 22:02
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
• 22:02
SPEAKER_03: And I know um for myself, you know, I'm I'm now sort of on that last bridge of womenhood where um it's menopausal.
• 22:12
SPEAKER_03: And I and I'm from England, so I never had a massive amount of coffee, but now I've come to Australia really enjoying, you know, the coffee culture and what is coffee, and um, so my body's changing as well in that state.
• 22:25
SPEAKER_03: And um, I've tried your coffee and I think it's it's divine, and I've shared it with quite a few friends, and they're loving it as their coffee alternative and really enjoy it.
• 22:35
SPEAKER_03: So I think what a great creation.
• 22:37
SPEAKER_03: We're like, um, as you say, we can have that ritual, and people love the ritual because it's a time to stay step out and concentrate.
• 22:47
SPEAKER_03: It's like being in that present mind moment awareness, isn't it?
• 22:50
SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm doing something else, it's a brain state change, it's a mindset shift, and we're doing something else, and then we have that break where we can then go back to whatever it is we need to do.
• 23:01
SPEAKER_03: So that ritual can be really important, um, but it's a ritual now that can be put in with something that's healthy, it works with your hormones, works with your body, and is healthy and healing.
• 23:15
  SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely.
• 23:16
SPEAKER_00: And you know, and it's also about that, you know, it's it's so ingrained in in our culture that it's like, let's go for a coffee.
• 23:25
SPEAKER_00: It's also like a catch-up with a friend, or you know, the gossip the gossip over coffee.
• 23:30
SPEAKER_00: It's just there's something that makes that catch-up a lot more intimate and exciting because you're having a coffee, right?
• 23:39
SPEAKER_00: Um and we were finding, well, like I said, as I've get to talk to people and as the business has grown, I have people even emailing me or reaching out to me via DMs and sharing their journey with me and how grateful they are that they've come across not coffee because they say things like, um, you know, my uh I can't drink coffee anymore, but my husband can.
• 24:06
SPEAKER_00: And, you know, we'd enjoy sitting down in the morning and having a coffee together.
• 24:10
SPEAKER_00: And, you know, me not being able to have a coffee, it just didn't feel the same.
• 24:14
SPEAKER_00: So now I'm able to enjoy that ritual with my husband or someone that can drink coffee, but they can still, you know, make the coffee like they're making it for someone else as well and enjoy it together.
• 24:28
SPEAKER_00: Or we have people buying it for their parents that they'll see it um on say Facebook or Instagram and they'll be like, oh, actually, you know, my mum's been my mum's going through uh say uh chemo and and can't tolerate coffee, or you know, or my dad's going through heart problems and can't, you know, have coffee.
• 24:50
SPEAKER_00: So they'll buy it for for their parents or their loved ones.
• 24:53
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
• 24:54
SPEAKER_00: And and even at tasting sessions, I'll I'll ask people, would you like to try coffee?
• 25:00
SPEAKER_00: They're like, oh, I'm I'm fine drinking coffee, but actually I've got a friend who can't drink coffee.
• 25:06
SPEAKER_00: Why don't I I'll try it just to just so I can taste it, so I can tell them what it's like and get a sample pack for them.
• 25:13
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I'm just I'm hearing so many more stories about um people needing to make those lifestyle changes, changes.
• 25:21
SPEAKER_00: And it's like the um the alcohol-free movement now as well.
• 25:24
SPEAKER_00: The the zero alcohol uh beverages, alcohols are just uh yeah, booming at the moment.
• 25:31
SPEAKER_00: Like it's just that, yeah, it's just the way to go now, just to be more mindful about what we're putting into our bodies.
• 25:38
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's I suppose it's it's the health, um the health wave, you know, we can still have our beer, we can still have our wine, we can still have our bubbles, we can still have our coffee, but it's not that.
• 25:52
SPEAKER_03: But it's also, you know, like you say, it's it's doing those small little changes that can have over time a massive impact on our health and well-being, you know, whether it's coffee or or the beer or the wine.
• 26:06
SPEAKER_03: Um, but it it it works for our body instead of against our body.
• 26:11
  SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah, true.
• 26:13
SPEAKER_00: And you know, I do get people people do get offended as well when they kind of see the the words not coffee or really yeah, for people who love their coffee but can't drink it because zero capping, and they'll be like, well, what's the point?
• 26:28
SPEAKER_00: Or or just drink coffee for God's sake, or just it's good for you, or just just have the decaf.
• 26:34
SPEAKER_00: And you know, so I do get people that actually get quite um yeah, irritated um with the product itself.
• 26:42
SPEAKER_00: And I have to remind people it's like it's not that I'm telling coffee lovers who are fine drinking coffee to stop drinking their coffee.
• 26:51
SPEAKER_00: It's not about that, it's giving people who can't drink coffee anymore or don't want to or just want to be more mindful and um about their caffeine intake an option.
• 27:03
SPEAKER_00: It's just being inclusive, uh really.
• 27:07
SPEAKER_00: That's it at the end of the day.
• 27:09
SPEAKER_00: You know, I've got nothing against I need the coffee industry, I need people, you know, addicted to coffee, because then they'll and maybe at one point be like, hang on a minute, I just can't drink coffee anymore.
• 27:22
SPEAKER_00: And that's actually I've had that in the past as well, where uh people are like, oh, well, you know, just drink the coffee, or you know, they're kind of not really for it.
• 27:32
SPEAKER_00: And then three or six months later, they'll come back, they'll be like, Oh, I'm actually being diagnosed with such and such, and I can't drink coffee anymore.
• 27:39
SPEAKER_00: I'm like, Well, there you go.
• 27:40
  SPEAKER_00: Like, that's why that's why we're here.
• 27:43
  SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
• 27:44
  SPEAKER_03: There's an alternative.
• 27:45
SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, you know, if they're if our health is saying it doesn't want that anymore and we want something different, yeah, there.
• 27:52
SPEAKER_03: And I think that's awesome, you know.
• 27:54
SPEAKER_03: Well done for turning something that, you know, was something that felt, you know, heart heart stopping to now it's heart growing, you know.
• 28:02
SPEAKER_03: It's like it's created something um alternative, not just for you and helped heal your body, but also the alternative for others.
• 28:15
SPEAKER_03: So well done, you, for you know, seeing out of the box, so to speak.
• 28:18
SPEAKER_03: Now, what what's your vision for not coffee um as you move forward and over the next few years?
• 28:26
SPEAKER_00: I'd love to make not coffee as accessible as I can to everybody.
• 28:31
SPEAKER_00: So that means getting it into as many health food stores as possible and um just making it available uh for everyone.
• 28:41
  SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
• 28:41
SPEAKER_00: Whether they are, you know, fine drinking coffee now, but maybe in six months' time or 12 months' time.
• 28:48
SPEAKER_00: I want people, I would love for not coffee to be the first coffee alternative, first brand that people think about that comes to mind when they can't drink coffee anymore.
• 29:01
SPEAKER_00: So that that's the vision for for not coffee.
• 29:05
SPEAKER_03: I love that, and um, I want that for you too.
• 29:10
SPEAKER_03: Um, I'm gonna see there's a few really lovely um health food stores here in um Canberra, and I'll make sure I share you, your not coffee, with them.
• 29:20
SPEAKER_03: I think that would just be awesome.
• 29:21
SPEAKER_03: And look, the more that we have alternatives to choose from, and people have choices, they can choose for their health and their well-being.
• 29:31
  SPEAKER_00: That's right.
• 29:32
  SPEAKER_00: That's right.
• 29:33
SPEAKER_00: And I'm really looking forward to being at the Fertility Summit in Melbourne, and uh, we'll have tasting sessions of all of the not coffee flavors there.
• 29:43
SPEAKER_00: We'll be selling it on the day.
• 29:44
SPEAKER_00: So I'm really looking forward to to meeting meeting people and having them try not coffee as well.
• 29:52
  SPEAKER_03: Oh, me too.
• 29:54
SPEAKER_03: And and I think it's you know, on our journey of life healing, fertility, menopause.
• 30:00
SPEAKER_03: It's um how can we choose things that support our body and being?
• 30:05
SPEAKER_03: And um, the you know, the Melbourne Fertility Expo is is is one of my babies, as not coffee is one of your babies, is about supporting people with so many um to understand so many um uh ways that they can be supported in health and wellness.
• 30:22
SPEAKER_03: And I'm so glad that you and your um product as well can showcase there.
• 30:29
SPEAKER_03: And like you say, tastings, I love that, absolutely love that.
• 30:32
  SPEAKER_03: I'm so excited.
• 30:33
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 30:35
SPEAKER_03: So, you know, knowing that there's always small changes we can make and also understanding your journey, if there was a top tip, or I know it's difficult to choose one, but if there was one or two that you could share about being able to make those small um steps in changing, what what would you like to share?
• 30:55
SPEAKER_00: First of all, I'd say listen to your body, listen to your own body, don't worry about what other people are doing or drinking or eating.
• 31:05
SPEAKER_00: Like I said, what's good for one isn't always good for another.
• 31:08
SPEAKER_00: So um, I'd say listen to your body and I'd say just you know take it slow, take it easy.
• 31:19
SPEAKER_00: You don't need to, I mean, it depends on your health issue, but some people may need to make drastic lifestyle changes and just do a complete overhaul.
• 31:28
SPEAKER_00: But I'd say just take small steps, you know, especially when it comes to something like reducing caffeine intake.
• 31:34
SPEAKER_00: If you're having three coffees a day, maybe have your morning coffee and then redu and then replace the rest of your your coffees with say something like not coffee.
• 31:44
SPEAKER_00: It doesn't need to be you don't need to just go all out and quit cold turkey and do all of that all at once and put pressure on your on your body and also pressure mentally as well.
• 31:57
SPEAKER_00: So I'd say just take it easy and and listen to your body and do things step by step.
• 32:03
  SPEAKER_03: I like that.
• 32:03
SPEAKER_03: I think that's an extremely good idea.
• 32:05
SPEAKER_03: Your body does know it's like making those small little changes step by step.
• 32:10
  SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
• 32:11
  SPEAKER_03: Stilla, thank you.
