- 0:11Hello and welcome back to another episode of The Mindsets
- 0:15Podcast, episode 88, Two Fat Ladies.
- 0:19Is that what that is? That's.
- 0:20I think that's what they call it in bingo.
- 0:21Is it? I don't know if that's
- 0:22culturally appropriate anymore. I don't think it is.
- 0:24I also don't think cultural appropriation is the right term
- 0:26for that either. No, I don't.
- 0:28IPC don't know. I think yes.
- 0:29Yeah, we'll go with that one. Welcome back everybody.
- 0:32So bingo, specific episode, bingo episode we're going.
- 0:35To be going into the awkward training of Bingo Players, No,
- 0:39we're going to be looking at tennis today in particular.
- 0:42We know that Roland Garris is coming up, which is the French
- 0:45major, and we have a particular someone who is desperate to win
- 0:49that, which is Yannick Sinner. I don't know if you want to kind
- 0:51of give a little insight into how important it is.
- 0:55So Yannick Sinner, 25, isn't he? He's still a baby, still super
- 1:01young. World #1 currently ranked world
- 1:03number one. My favorite stat though about
- 1:06the annex Sinner. He's 6th on the all time
- 1:09earnings competition earnings. Do you want to have a guess at
- 1:12how many millions of dollars? In competition 6th.
- 1:16Which is meant that he's only 25 and he hasn't been doing it for
- 1:19so long. I'm going to say like based off
- 1:23what I know, Serena Williams winning was let's say he's
- 1:26earned like 22 mil. 65 it's like crazy.
- 1:31So he's doing well. I mean he's got a star-studded
- 1:35line up of accolades to his name of things that he's won.
- 1:38He's won Wimbledon, he's won the US Open, he's won the
- 1:42Australian. The only one he hasn't won is
- 1:45like you say, Roland Garros, which is coming up.
- 1:47So over the course of the next couple of weeks, his preparation
- 1:50for that will be key and I guess that's what we're going to talk
- 1:53about now. Wicked.
- 1:54Well, before we do that, as you guys know, we do Sports News.
- 1:57You know, people actually really rely on us for that.
- 1:59Really. Yeah.
- 1:59Yeah. Like I missed an episode and I
- 2:02forgot. I didn't know what was going on
- 2:03in the world of sport. This week is actually not that
- 2:06exciting. We're hoping that the sport as
- 2:07well picks up because there's a big couple of months coming up.
- 2:10As we know we've got the football World Cup and things
- 2:11like that. It's going to be crazy.
- 2:13But do you want to kick us off this week?
- 2:14Let me start the timer because we're going to do this inside 2
- 2:16minutes. OK?
- 2:17We'll try 321 off you. Go so obviously heating up in
- 2:21the Premier League at the moment.
- 2:22Arsenal played West Ham over the weekend, very, very maybe
- 2:27controversial at least consequential VARVAR decision in
- 2:31the last minute to deny West Ham a goal and a draw.
- 2:35So I think that puts Arsenal now five points clear, looking very
- 2:39likely for them to win the the premise this season.
- 2:42You're next. Yeah, so actually sticking on
- 2:44the theme of Arsenal, they aren't going to do the triple
- 2:45this season because they got knocked out the FA Cup last
- 2:47month, but they are looking good to do the double.
- 2:50They beat Atletico Madrid one nil last week, which means
- 2:53they're taking on PSG on May the 30th in the Champions League
- 2:56final, which I think Arsenal has only been to once before really.
- 2:59I don't know if they won it, imagine probably research that,
- 3:02but I didn't. Anyway, moving on.
- 3:04Gallagher Prem So rugby now? Unfortunately, Saints won the
- 3:08lost the Midlands Derby against Leicester, but they're luckily
- 3:11still at the top of the table because Exeter managed to beat
- 3:14Bath, which was a a huge result for Exeter.
- 3:18Sean Strickland in UFC328 beat Chimev.
- 3:23I'm not sure if that's how you pronounce his name in the the
- 3:26middle weight the division by decision.
- 3:29And then based off some news we spoke about a couple of weeks
- 3:31ago, Justin Rose debuted his McLaren club.
- 3:35So there's, there's a lot of hyper at work because I was
- 3:37excited thinking, you know, the engineering behind me is going
- 3:39to be incredible. I think he shot his second worst
- 3:43ever round of golf this season and nearly came last on the
- 3:47leaderboard with his brand new clubs and very funny tweet.
- 3:50He then posted he was like, I'll try and use DRS next time, which
- 3:53I thought was quite which I thought was quite good from from
- 3:56Justin Rose. But should we stay with golf?
- 3:59Yeah, yes. So Saudi Arabia, which is like
- 4:01the funding behind live golf, whether or not, you know, all
- 4:05the controversy around the PGA and the, and the, and live golf,
- 4:08they're pulling their funding at the end of the season.
- 4:10So a lot of the players who jump shit from PGA because of these
- 4:13big contracts that live offering them, like Bryce and the Chambo,
- 4:17Jon Rahm, Phil Mickelson, their future is potentially a little
- 4:21bit in the hands of fate because they don't know whether or not
- 4:24they're going to be allowed back to play in the PGA.
- 4:27So we'll see what happens with that.
- 4:29All hotting up, there is one more golf thing.
- 4:31Actually, you went to the cinema yesterday.
- 4:33Yeah, Rory McIlroy has a cameo appearance in The Devil's The
- 4:38Devil Wears Prada, too. So if you're into, I don't know
- 4:43what you have to be. Honest.
- 4:45Is it a horror film or something?
- 4:46Have you not seen that the? Thing of the Black Swan.
- 4:48No, I have no idea what Devil Wears Pride is about.
- 4:50You've never seen it? Well, I'd seen it years ago and
- 4:55I probably should have known what had happened in the first
- 4:57movie. But if you haven't gone see it,
- 5:00I would very recommend it. Very recommend it.
- 5:02The best. That's the best.
- 5:04It's fun. It's.
- 5:05Fun and Rory Mcilroy's in it. Well, there we go.
- 5:08Let's let's dive into the topic today.
- 5:10Again, if you're, if you came here from a couple episodes ago,
- 5:12we switched out. We do grind my gears later.
- 5:14So there are things that are annoying you guys.
- 5:16We're just going to make you hold on to those a little bit
- 5:18longer. That might be a grind my gear.
- 5:20Someone send that in please. That'd be so good, and it would
- 5:23leave us so bamboozled as to what to do.
- 5:25Where do we put it? Exactly.
- 5:27Just for reference, I don't think we did the news inside 2
- 5:30minutes, but I thought to look at when we stopped it, so we'll
- 5:33just take the L on that. Anyway, it's done inside 3
- 5:35minutes, That's fine. So, Yannick Sinner, I don't know
- 5:39if you want to go slightly further into your initial
- 5:42interest. So for the anyone who's not
- 5:45necessarily following tennis or doesn't know so much about how
- 5:48the season's structured, you obviously have like the main
- 5:51events across the year. You've got your Wimbledons,
- 5:53you've got your rolongar, Roland Garrus, U.S.
- 5:55Open, etcetera. It's like the big tournaments
- 5:57that everyone knows about. Below that you have kind of like
- 6:00the end of season finals and then the most prestigious comp
- 6:04tournaments across the year. Other than those, they're called
- 6:07the AAPTATPATPATP. The thing that makes energy in
- 6:15in yourselves, you have they're, they're called the Masters of
- 6:19Thousands and they're played across the season and there's
- 6:22nine in the season. Now what's significant about
- 6:25that is there's only one player who's ever won all all nine.
- 6:29And it's obviously the king himself, Novak Djokovic.
- 6:32Now Yanuk Sinner has had an unbelievable run this season and
- 6:37I think he's won four in a row, which is a record in itself.
- 6:41If I'm not mistaken. No one's won that many in a row
- 6:45in one season and he's going to Rome or he's currently playing
- 6:49in Rome, which is happening now. I think he might even be playing
- 6:53this afternoon and he's got the opportunity to be the second
- 6:57ever player to win all nine crowns and he could potentially
- 7:01win a fifth in a row, which would just be like an
- 7:04unbelievable achievement. And he's Italian himself.
- 7:07So to win on home soil, I'm sure is like a big, big deal for him.
- 7:10Yeah, I think it's quite a big a sort of month for him.
- 7:14So we're hoping that this is timed right.
- 7:16If you guys are hearing about him on the news and then you got
- 7:18to actually look into what's going on.
- 7:19And it is an all Golden Boy though, if we if we're going to
- 7:23be honest with you guys and we're going to let you you know
- 7:26what happened 2024 Yanixin had to take three months off the
- 7:30sport and that's because he had to accept that he failed the
- 7:33drugs test, got caught with performance enhancing anabolic
- 7:37steroid called cluster bowl. Don't know really what that
- 7:40does, but sounds good. Sounds good.
- 7:42It was good enough for him to put on quite a lot of size.
- 7:44I think one of the things that is recognizable about Yannick
- 7:47when he was quite young, entering professional sport is
- 7:50he was quite lean, quite skinny. And that was probably one of the
- 7:54reasons why he was struggling against some of those more
- 7:57veteran players that had a bit more power, a bit more size.
- 8:00So anyway, gets a new coach by the name of Darren Cahill and
- 8:05genuinely would never suggest that there would be a
- 8:08correlation between the two. But that happened in 2022 and
- 8:12that's allegedly when he started putting on some size.
- 8:14So anyway, speculation, speculation.
- 8:19I think one of the things that is interesting about Yannick's
- 8:22career now is he's now in the sort of peak part of his career
- 8:26as a tennis player, kind of peak athleticism, peak experience
- 8:31where far sort of peak understanding of the sport.
- 8:33And so that's all starting to come together.
- 8:36But there's a few things that have changed about his game as
- 8:38well. And rather than being a really
- 8:41energetic kid and seeing the sport as like, oh, I've got to
- 8:45do everything I can in order to improve, it's actually become
- 8:49less of a robot within the sport and actually have a life and
- 8:51have the sport. And that's something I think
- 8:53Darren Cahill, his coach has actually mentioned that he is
- 8:56much better right now. Interestingly as well, this is a
- 8:59little piece of information I found out about a month ago.
- 9:02Yannick when he was a kid was a dual sport athlete.
- 9:07Oh really? He's actually very highly ranked
- 9:08in skiing in giants farm. And then at he's like 13, maybe
- 9:1214. He's committed to tennis.
- 9:14So like that's cool. Again, once you're if you're a
- 9:17talented kid and you have to choose a sport and that young
- 9:19like you become a robot for it because you chose that sport
- 9:23over the other one. Especially in Italy as well,
- 9:27like skiing is quite a big thing for them.
- 9:31I'm. Sure.
- 9:31I'd love to see like when you sit down and you go, OK, I'm
- 9:34going to do the positives and negatives of why I want to
- 9:37choose skiing over why I want to choose tennis.
- 9:39And I'm sure number one on the list was I can earn a lot of
- 9:43money. Yeah, I don't know how much
- 9:46money there, isn't there. Are many Lindsay Vons in the
- 9:48world true? Definitely.
- 9:49Yeah, you're right. But the next thing that's
- 9:52changed, as he actually did begin to have a bit more success
- 9:54on the tour just through being a very talented player and getting
- 9:57some wins under his belt. He brought in someone who's
- 10:01quite well known within the tennis space, which is Marco
- 10:03Panichi. That happened in 2004.
- 10:05Now Marco Panichi is a famous name because he's worked with
- 10:08the likes of Novak Djokovic, as you said, the king.
- 10:09He's won everything. He's the only person to do what
- 10:12Yannick yet hasn't done. Sure.
- 10:14Now what Marco is well known for is movement efficiency.
- 10:17And rather than being like, we're going to work on this
- 10:20specific shot over and over again until your body gets it.
- 10:23It's like, how do we train to allow your body to do certain
- 10:26things on the court? So kind of, I guess what we
- 10:30would talk about in every other sport is plyometrics.
- 10:32But the interesting thing about tennis players training is that
- 10:35so much of it happens on the court.
- 10:37You don't actually, I mean, they do gym sessions and stuff.
- 10:39But in previous episodes where we've done athlete profiles, we
- 10:41talk about how, you know, they might be on the elliptical to
- 10:45get their base work in. They might be using the bike
- 10:47they might be running when running has nothing to do with.
- 10:49This training versus sport and it's like the sports specific
- 10:53conditioning that you're doing all the sports specific strength
- 10:56you're doing in the gym. They're doing a lot of their
- 10:57training just it is sport exactly.
- 11:00And that's that's that's again, something that comes hand in
- 11:03hand with it being a skill dominant sport.
- 11:06And I'm sure we're going to go down that rabbit hole a lot in
- 11:09the in the next couple of. Minutes, yeah.
- 11:11And the conditioning side of it is is massive because if you
- 11:14think about and I think about when I was a kid and I was doing
- 11:17some coaching, I was being coached in tennis, whether that
- 11:20be in like APE class or actually there was a club locally which I
- 11:23did a few lessons. I never really took to it
- 11:26because we did a lot of things like shuttle runs and the
- 11:31shuttle runs were more fun than just doing shuttle runs because
- 11:34it would be each line of the court, but then you'd have to
- 11:36hit the ball over or you're doing round the world.
- 11:38You take the turns, which I love, but.
- 11:40So good. It was pretty much all the
- 11:42training felt like conditioning because like there is so much
- 11:45running. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:46But again, once you're at that elite level, that's also great
- 11:48because then you aren't having to think so much about how you
- 11:50balance all these different forms.
- 11:51It's like I'm on the court and this section of my court time
- 11:55today is for this and then we'll move into this section and kind
- 11:58of all do it in one place, which makes it not easier.
- 12:00I'm just going to go on for a personal experience and for
- 12:05anyone who doesn't know I was also a dual athlete when I was
- 12:08younger and I it was tennis or rugby.
- 12:11Yeah, neither was. I was only good at and and
- 12:15decided to not choose. Either still dual though still
- 12:17dual. But last year we went to
- 12:21Portugal and I haven't played tennis in a long time and there
- 12:25were tennis courts where we were staying.
- 12:26We just thought let's have a have a little hip about.
- 12:28Obviously we do a lot of training, a lot of fitness.
- 12:31A lot of my training is running specific to whether it's running
- 12:35half marathons or doing high rocks, etcetera, etcetera.
- 12:37So you're like, well, I have that fitness.
- 12:39But as soon as you go sports specific and you get on a tennis
- 12:42court and it's the stop, start back forth, lateral movement,
- 12:45rotation, having to then compose yourself to hit the tennis ball,
- 12:50it's a completely different thing, which is just mental to
- 12:53me. Where you go, Well, I think I'm
- 12:56generally quite fit. You play like 10 minutes of
- 12:58tennis and lots like hands on knees.
- 13:00Like it's so specific. And if you don't train that and
- 13:04you don't have the specific conditioning for that, God, it's
- 13:07hard. And that's even from like if you
- 13:10look at a point individually, the stamina required to win one
- 13:13point. Oh, it's crazy.
- 13:15And like you just have to my level versus the top level
- 13:18athletes. It's just like the speed of the
- 13:20game, the the, the movement, the anticipation is just honestly,
- 13:25I, I could talk about tennis players all day every day.
- 13:27If if. You did say like you think
- 13:29they're the pinnacle athlete. They are the pinnacle of any.
- 13:32Because and your defence is around the skill and the
- 13:36conditioning. Yeah.
- 13:37So the the way I define it, because you need to have some
- 13:41sort of parameters of definition of what you think the highest
- 13:44level of sport is. I use the 10 physical skills.
- 13:48Lots of those skills are seen across every sport.
- 13:53You've got more than potentially not every sport, but you've got
- 13:55like cardiovascular, like endurance and stamina.
- 13:59You have power, you have speed, you have agility, you have
- 14:03flexibility, you have accuracy, you have coordination, you have
- 14:06balance. I don't know if I just nailed
- 14:08all 10, but that could have been incredible that first time.
- 14:12Yeah, it's great. I don't know if I don't know
- 14:14VARI, but there's there's there's so few sports that have
- 14:19all 10. Yeah, so few.
- 14:22And I just until someone can can give me a more compelling
- 14:26argument. I think tennis players are at
- 14:29the pinnacle of athleticism. Speed golf.
- 14:32Speed golf. Anyway, we'll move on.
- 14:37We could argue, We could argue, yeah, yeah.
- 14:39I don't think speed golf earns as much money.
- 14:42So so we'll stick on tennis. One of the things that's
- 14:45interesting though, and we've spoken a lot about this with
- 14:48other athletes and I think this is a bit of an understanding
- 14:50that really began around the Olympics mainly being every four
- 14:55years, but has really trickled down into other sports on a more
- 14:59miniature scale, which is periodisation of training.
- 15:02I think there's also been a massive understanding both
- 15:05scientifically, but from just feeling of just like you
- 15:08actually can't be in peak performance all the time.
- 15:10You can't, you can have a new sort of what, what would you
- 15:14even call it, like baseline across where you're like minimum
- 15:17performance is you absolutely cannot be at your very best all
- 15:20the time. And so a lot of athletes are now
- 15:24deliberately saying, look, this is when it matters to me and
- 15:28this is when it doesn't. And so, for example, we've said
- 15:31before, Yannick has won Wimbledon, he's won Melbourne,
- 15:35he's won the US Open. So you'd think pretty naturally
- 15:40he's probably set his most recent training block up to be
- 15:44peaking at this time. So you can take off the thousand
- 15:47and then also win at Rolongar. Now, in order to do that,
- 15:53there's a lot of planning that has to go into that.
- 15:55This isn't the sort of thing you can decide six weeks out you're
- 15:57going to grate for. You've really got to take into
- 16:00account and sacrifice some things before that.
- 16:02Whether that's because you need to do a strength block, whether
- 16:05that's because you need to do a specific aerobic easy base
- 16:08building, you basically need to identify.
- 16:10Just get more comfortable to playing on clay.
- 16:12That's it because this is one of the huge things is the other
- 16:16court. I think Melbourne and the US
- 16:18Open, correct me if I were on both hardcore and they're like
- 16:21kind of like rubbery, grippy kind of thing.
- 16:24Wimbledon obviously grass very different.
- 16:25A lot of players will actually, if they want to win Wimbledon or
- 16:28do well at Wimbledon, we'll take their foot off the gas Rd. on
- 16:30Gauss because on clay it's known to slide.
- 16:33It's faster, serves happen quicker.
- 16:35You've got to be way more reactive.
- 16:37Things like spin play far less of an effect.
- 16:39And then you go to Wimbledon and on grass you can slide.
- 16:42It's not the same. The ball doesn't actually have
- 16:46much traction when it hits the ground.
- 16:47It's similar to clay, but the ball balance is low because
- 16:49grass absorbs more. There's so much to consider
- 16:51between each of these tournaments.
- 16:52So periodisation is actually quite sensible in that sense if
- 16:56you're going to aim for a specific tournament.
- 16:58The other thing that you have to consider in these different
- 17:00locations is also what like the environment's like.
- 17:02So in Melbourne hot, it's not crazy.
- 17:05It's actually not that different from the UK, I'm told by a
- 17:07Melbourne local. But depending on when you're
- 17:10playing, and I know the US Open and a lot of these tournaments
- 17:14now you, you end up being indoors, quite controlled
- 17:17environments. But there are days when women,
- 17:19it's like 42° and they leave the the thing open.
- 17:22And so you've got to be physically prepared in that
- 17:24sense. So that is where through your
- 17:27periodisation you can start working on different elements
- 17:30like training your energy system.
- 17:31I think also like if you look at the calendar for the season, you
- 17:34just you can't you can't be ready for all the tournaments.
- 17:38And that's why, you know, it'd be a really cool thing to be
- 17:41able to say I'm going to win all of these Masters 1000 events
- 17:44across the season. There's nine of them.
- 17:46But when you look at if you got to Wimbledon finals, which
- 17:50you've got to put money on Yanixin are doing, there's such
- 17:53a short turn around from that event into I think it's Toronto.
- 17:57There's just like you can't get to all of the the events.
- 18:00And if you even if you even if you get to the Wimbledon finals.
- 18:04He then managed to make it to Toronto.
- 18:06You're just going to be so fatigued emotionally,
- 18:09physically. So it takes like a very special
- 18:11player to be able to go and, and do that.
- 18:14But did you know what, like all of the critics in the, in the,
- 18:17the world of tennis are saying like you have to, he's the Alex
- 18:21Sinner currently is, is beatable, but you're going to
- 18:24have to catch him on like a really good day for you and a
- 18:28really bad day for him because he's like, he's playing such
- 18:31consistent, such good tennis that he's he's really difficult
- 18:34to beat. So.
- 18:36With tournaments like this immediately with some of the
- 18:40episodes that people have listened to before about
- 18:41tapering for things now in skill based sports or higher skill
- 18:46based sports, the idea of tapering appears to drop off
- 18:49slightly in terms of they're such mental load sports that
- 18:55mentally need to be a good place.
- 18:57Typically to be confident in yourself, you need to know that
- 19:00you're on a similar surface or you're playing well before you
- 19:02go into the tournament. Which is why for those of you
- 19:04that will recognise Queens or what's Bournemouth as well for,
- 19:09is it Eastbourne, is it Eastbourne?
- 19:11Sorry. Yeah.
- 19:11So Eastbourne, they're both Lawn Tennis tournaments that happen
- 19:14before Wimbledon and they play right up until the week before
- 19:17Wimbledon. A lot of players that are coming
- 19:19in for a big year at Wimbledon will play in those tournaments.
- 19:21Get used to the surface. You'll also get a bit more same
- 19:24with what's going on right now with Yannick before he goes into
- 19:26Roland Garros. They back right into each other,
- 19:28so he could well be playing a final on Sunday if he gets
- 19:32there, and then he could be playing his first round of
- 19:35Roland Garros a day or two later.
- 19:37So there isn't really this idea of tapering.
- 19:39However, because there is a tournament, the volume and
- 19:43training load prior is not as intense because they are trying
- 19:46to recover between each game. So in that sense, total volume
- 19:51and time on court probably does drop.
- 19:53However, the actual like intensity judge.
- 19:57So that's where when he's actually training and going
- 20:01through these blocks, what we, what we know and what we have
- 20:03got from our sources, again, quotes from his from his coaches
- 20:08is that he will be doing pretty intense 90 to 120 minute plus
- 20:12sessions on the court at a time and.
- 20:16A lot of that will include in the lead up to tournament live
- 20:19haul sessions. So whether that is a tennis ball
- 20:22machine or just the coach on the other side, put them in
- 20:24repetitive, difficult positions. However, one of the other
- 20:27things, reactive drills is one of the key elements of tennis
- 20:32because you never really know where the other person going to
- 20:34put the ball. The more you play, the more you
- 20:36know, the more you watch it. You'll understand when they're
- 20:38in a baseline slog back and forth that can go on for 10-15
- 20:43shots before someone does a drop shot, but it could have come two
- 20:46shots before. You don't know.
- 20:47And so there'll be a lot of reactive drills.
- 20:50One of the best things I think in coaching is that that is
- 20:54where you get to test your players ability to be agile, to
- 20:58be fast. And so that's where a lot of the
- 21:01tennis court base drills come in, in that you wouldn't
- 21:04necessarily have to have like 4 cones out and tell your athlete
- 21:08I need you to run diagonally across the cones and then make
- 21:10the shot. You could do that without
- 21:11telling them by putting the ball in the right place.
- 21:14And what I loved as well when I was younger, and this actually
- 21:16happened in badminton, but it happens in tennis as well, is
- 21:19that as a coach, if you have a good player, you can tell them
- 21:23they need to return the ball to you, which means that you can
- 21:26make your life really difficult for them.
- 21:28You're basically standing still and just hitting it over.
- 21:31And obviously these guys are professional coaches and they
- 21:33are bad at the sport themselves. So as long as it's within a
- 21:36radius of them, you can challenge the player and you can
- 21:40give them a really hard game without actually having to be
- 21:44that like as artistically gifted.
- 21:46So a lot of those sessions, like I said, you'll be trying to move
- 21:50the player across, keep them on their toes, keep them surprised.
- 21:53Those will be slightly shorter because they are intense both
- 21:55mentally and physically. Store that change direction.
- 21:58But then there will be longer blocks where it is literally
- 22:01just baseline shot, baseline shot, baseline shot, winner.
- 22:05It's almost like conditioning, isn't it?
- 22:07Exactly. Yeah, Yeah.
- 22:08But it's also, and this is where Marco came in, is being so
- 22:13consistent a type of shot. So if it's like I'm going to get
- 22:17you to hit the baseline from your baseline, you have to hit a
- 22:21out of these 10 and it has to hit the white tape at the back
- 22:23of the court. And we're going to do that until
- 22:26not until I'm happy that you've hit a out of 10, until I'm happy
- 22:29that your technique look the same for those to let alone only
- 22:33hit. So that's like the kind of
- 22:34training that goes in, which is you can tell by the way we're
- 22:38talking mentally, the focus that you have to have that is quite
- 22:41intense, but physically to be able to match up to the mental
- 22:43intensity, like that's also very, very intense.
- 22:45So that's, that's like another argument for me of why tennis
- 22:49players are like the pinnacle because you have all of that.
- 22:54I, I saw something recently, I'm not going to quote numbers, but
- 22:58the amount of time you have to react to a serve at the top
- 23:01level in tennis, like it's 0.00 seconds, something like that,
- 23:06like point, whatever, There's no time.
- 23:08It's just like a inherent, like I have to dig it out because
- 23:13it's really interesting and why you see a lot of players jump as
- 23:17the, their opponents serving because I can't remember the,
- 23:21the, the physics behind it. It's, it's honestly incredible
- 23:23how fast they react, but they have that the speed of decision
- 23:27making and then also just the mental fatigue of having to try
- 23:32and outwit their opponent because they're facing someone
- 23:34else. You, you, I always put golf
- 23:36because it's also very high skill sport.
- 23:39It doesn't have all of the physical stuff behind it like
- 23:41tennis does, but in terms of skill, it's very, very skill
- 23:44demanding, even probably higher than tennis.
- 23:46Maybe arguably, but you're not competing against someone
- 23:51directly one-on-one. They might be in the same group
- 23:54as you on the final day, or they might be a couple of holes
- 23:56behind her head and you can hear the crowd or you can see the
- 23:58leaderboard. And yes, you're trying to beat
- 24:00them. But at the end of the day, you
- 24:01just have to play your best golf and you're at the mercy of the
- 24:04course basically. And how well you understand
- 24:06gradients and undulation and the wind.
- 24:09So you're not actually like hitting shots back and forth
- 24:12against someone. But then also when you think
- 24:14about I'm running to return the ball and there's so many
- 24:18different positions that I've got to be in when I hit the
- 24:21shot. So you're talking about
- 24:22consistency of hitting basically a similar shot like baseline to
- 24:26baseline or cross court. Cross court in golf, when you
- 24:29set up, let's say I'm on the tee box, how often are you going to
- 24:32change the position of your feet?
- 24:34How often are you going to change your grip?
- 24:35How often are you going to change the position?
- 24:37It's very, very similar always unless you're on like a slight
- 24:40gradient or you're in the rough or you're in a bunker.
- 24:42There's so many different variables.
- 24:45When you're running to hit the shot, you're running towards the
- 24:47net, you need to hit a slice or however, it's like there's so
- 24:50many different things that you need to be good at to hit just
- 24:54one shot in tennis. Like it's, it's incredible when
- 24:57you think about the depth and the layers that these players
- 24:59have to their game. I'm going to hone in or
- 25:01something. And you said kind of early on
- 25:03there was the jump at the yeah, yeah, this is going to come from
- 25:07a different sport, but I think people find this really
- 25:09interesting. Yeah.
- 25:10When I was playing American football and we have wide
- 25:13receivers and this is also important, athletics.
- 25:15Did you ever get picked up on in athletics a full step at the
- 25:18start of a run or a start of a Sprint?
- 25:22Like if you like a full start, no.
- 25:25It's called a full step. So if I told anybody listening,
- 25:30watching or yourself to stand behind the line and when I say
- 25:34go, go. You're knocked down.
- 25:37You're like just stood on 2 feet.
- 25:39Do you know what happens to 99.999% of people when they
- 25:44actually go with their front foot?
- 25:48It's like a stutter like. See what happens and people can
- 25:51please do try this because even knowing it, knowing what I'm
- 25:54about to tell you will still do the wrong thing.
- 25:56So you'll start with one foot in front of the other and you'll
- 25:58have most of your weight on that front foot.
- 26:01OK, what people then do I? Thought I was just like standing
- 26:03in my feet to get OK. So when when most people do,
- 26:07pretty much everyone will do and even I will still do it is as
- 26:10soon as someone says go and I'm allowed to go the weight with
- 26:13most of my foot, sorry the foot with most of my weight on it, I
- 26:16will lift that foot up with back and then go forward.
- 26:19Rather than driving your back leg forwards.
- 26:20So that is the full step. Now, interestingly, in American
- 26:25football, we had to coach our receivers out of doing it
- 26:27because it costs you a split second.
- 26:29And The thing is, if you watch at the very high level, they
- 26:32obviously just do it because they're good enough.
- 26:34But that split second when you're a far lower level is
- 26:37actually quite important and it's good for people to
- 26:40understand how their bodies work.
- 26:42In a reactive sport you can pre emptively do the full step
- 26:47before the thing happens. By reckon football, if you full
- 26:49start by doing full step you get flagged as penalty.
- 26:52In tennis, if you want to put yourself in a reactive position,
- 26:56you can bring the weight of your money, which allows you to make
- 26:59the weight, the shift to direction, a lot easier.
- 27:02And so in effect, if you told the players that they weren't
- 27:05allowed to move, they would still do a full step in a
- 27:08direction to shift their body weight so we can move away.
- 27:10By jumping, you've deloaded your body.
- 27:13So when you see in the air that it's going on where you can land
- 27:16in the position you'll be in, which is like a tiny, tiny
- 27:19thing. Yeah, yeah, most.
- 27:21So everybody, I've said you can try the Sprint thing.
- 27:24I guarantee you if I was to hit a ball to you doing tennis, your
- 27:27body would naturally alleviate or lift up a little bit to make
- 27:30it easier to change direction. However, if you then, after this
- 27:34incredible piece of insight into your own brain, went and did the
- 27:38full step thing, you would do it anyway.
- 27:40You'd find it so hard not to do it.
- 27:43So it's interesting how your body will naturally adapt.
- 27:45But particularly top level tennis players are definitely
- 27:48doing a little hop as they see the serve coming because there
- 27:52is a degree. It's a bit like a penalty.
- 27:53As a goalkeeper you are having to guess and you will know
- 27:56probably the statistics of where they're going to.
- 27:58Put the well you see. Goalkeepers do very similar
- 27:59thing as well. They like it's the exact same
- 28:01thing so. That's so interesting.
- 28:03Yeah. Now, so just on that point,
- 28:05yeah. And this is so like irrelevant
- 28:08to the conversation to to see how unathletic someone is.
- 28:13Yes, you go set up as if you're about to Sprint and they go same
- 28:18arm forwards as same leg forwards.
- 28:20All hazels that treat some people.
- 28:22There's always that one person there.
- 28:24You're like. OK, you've never played sport
- 28:25before in life. And then to be fair, I say that
- 28:27and then you see me running in my arms like Tommy Fury running
- 28:30down the line. I have to really think so hard
- 28:32about using my elbows. Now what we're going to do,
- 28:37we're going to preface this bit by saying this bit we haven't
- 28:40got from sources. Now hopefully you guys are on
- 28:42are OK with that. We understand training to a
- 28:44relative degree. So we're going to go go through
- 28:46basically what a weekly training, not block, but like
- 28:52what a segment of training might look like through a week.
- 28:54So yes, we've said that a lot of stuff is done outside on a
- 28:58course, sorry, inside on a court, wherever the court is.
- 29:01But there are things that still need to happen away from that to
- 29:04develop the strength, develop the power that is part of that
- 29:06essential sort of training system that you you are as a as
- 29:10a tennis player. So things like your compound
- 29:14lifts, dead lifts, upper body work, sort of overhead
- 29:18shoulders, shoulder press, A lot of the stuff that you would do
- 29:21is like a full body session could happen early on in the
- 29:24week. Obviously this is we're going to
- 29:27be looking at a wheat which isn't impacted by tournament
- 29:28play because there's a lot of recovery for that.
- 29:30But big things which convert well into tennis are single leg
- 29:35movement big time, not particularly deep movements.
- 29:43I would say because you're never in a full depth squad, you're
- 29:45never going to be doing anything like a proper straight bar.
- 29:48Deadlift and trap bar is absolutely fine.
- 29:50And then again, and we've spoken about this in lots of different
- 29:53sports, the plyometric side of things, doing jumps, being able
- 29:55to teach your body to take the force in certain positions and
- 29:58again do them single leg as well as dual.
- 30:00It's like the agility thing. It's like minimising the time it
- 30:03takes to change direction, which is what agility is.
- 30:06So it's like if you are running across, sliding, hit your shot
- 30:10and you're like, well, I can almost preempt that.
- 30:12They're going to hit get it again to the other side of the
- 30:14court. So I have to get back on my but
- 30:15I can like get across and yes, and what's really fun and what's
- 30:19really interesting, it probably isn't fun or interesting at all.
- 30:23But if you if you watch any sport and you go, if I was their
- 30:26trainer in the gym, based off their movement mechanics in the
- 30:30sport and my understanding of exercise, my exercise library,
- 30:34what exercises am I prescribing them?
- 30:37And that's really fun to do across all sports.
- 30:39It's like if you watch a boxing fight or you watch golfers or
- 30:42you watch tennis players or you watch footballers or you watch
- 30:44skiers, it's like, what do I? And like there's so much
- 30:47crossover. And I always say this, there's
- 30:48so much crossover. But yeah, the single leg stuff
- 30:51like front foot elevated split squats or Bulgarian split squats
- 30:56or whatever, it's Pogo jumps. I think also like a lot of Med
- 30:59ball rotation because it's like when you hit the ball it's like
- 31:03I need to be strong in that position.
- 31:05There's an element of this every day because this happens
- 31:07especially when they're out on court.
- 31:08But just in general, core training is probably the most
- 31:12I've imagined in the sport. So it's also how do you control
- 31:17and stabilize your core when your body is not in a perfect
- 31:20position. So when you said like Med ball
- 31:21throws, there's also going to be a point where you're not
- 31:25perfectly stood on sideways because actually when you hit a
- 31:27tennis shot, and we always just use this term when we were
- 31:30throwing. But like you stand in an open
- 31:32stance. So your left foot is is not
- 31:35aligned with your right foot like this in golf to allow your
- 31:37hips to rotate through. So then are you able to not only
- 31:40release the ball in that fashion, can you catch it there?
- 31:43Because in the off chance that you are in an awkward position
- 31:46and you're running left and they actually shoot right, can you
- 31:48generate enough force? Force absorption exactly.
- 31:51So a lot of the core workers around that in order to be able
- 31:56to just, a lot of what a lot of athletes do generally is they
- 32:01prepare their bodies to be capable of doing something.
- 32:04Yeah. It's like doing necessarily
- 32:06train their body how to do 10 shots.
- 32:08It is allow my body to be able to do 100 variations of these
- 32:12ten shots and not bother too much about how it gets it done
- 32:15as long as it does. And then so you made a note of
- 32:18also like deceleration because like that's just as important as
- 32:21acceleration. And like when you think about
- 32:25the balls coming cross court or it's coming to the net, I have
- 32:27to Sprint my hardest at it to get there in time.
- 32:31I need to adjust my feet as I'm getting to the ball.
- 32:33How am I adjusting my feet? It's me slowing down.
- 32:36And that's like that's something that you need to train your body
- 32:39and and your muscles to do as well.
- 32:40Well, not only is there like a a lot of people watching the seats
- 32:44that you can fall into if you're running for a cross court shot,
- 32:46but if you touch the net, you lose the point.
- 32:49So like if there's a really cheeky drop shot, it's back spin
- 32:52you've got to get there with and stop probably within a yard
- 32:55because that's how accurate they are with the drop shot.
- 32:57It's incredible. It's yeah, it's crazy.
- 33:01There is a mention on this suggested weekly routine of like
- 33:04more of an aerobic base work day.
- 33:06I kind of disagree with it being a whole day around that because
- 33:09there will still be so much tennis court time around this.
- 33:12It would literally just be a suggestion of doing something
- 33:16slightly easy. So this is where an easy run can
- 33:19come in, an easy bite depending on how the body's feeling.
- 33:21But again, it's not like in other forms of training where
- 33:24it's like you need to hit a certain number of hours because
- 33:27in their training, it's a bit like the dad going to a a park
- 33:33run that doesn't really know about his training because all
- 33:35his runs actually do span because he only trains off
- 33:37field. So a lot of those sessions
- 33:39actually span all the different intensities of training.
- 33:41So it's not like I'm looking at my straw every week and I've
- 33:43only done five hours of Zone 2 this week.
- 33:45It's like the whole thing's a mess, All of the all of those.
- 33:48Zones play an actual game. It's a mess as well.
- 33:51Exactly. Yeah, exactly that.
- 33:52So. Then mobility and recovery
- 33:56always going to be a big thing in elite sport.
- 34:00One of the major things with this sport with the lateral
- 34:03change of direction, you see, it's a lot of basketball players
- 34:05as well, is hip recovery and doing the mobility the 1990s,
- 34:10but also doing a lot of banded work around the hips to make
- 34:12sure that they're stable enough when you come to your next
- 34:15session, but also that you've released.
- 34:16Because I I also get this if I'm sat down for a long time and I
- 34:20get tight in my lower back and my glutes.
- 34:22But I can imagine if they're not sat down for a long time, but
- 34:24they are constantly moving side to side and then powerfully
- 34:28forwards and backwards, then there's going to be a lot of
- 34:31like pump a lot of tightness around those hips.
- 34:34And again, if you, if you the next day, fair enough.
- 34:38You can't recover in 12 hours because you're usually in a
- 34:42tournament, you're not playing the next day, but you usually
- 34:45play every other day in the big tournament.
- 34:47So you need to be arguably in a better position than you were
- 34:51for your last game in two days time because you're playing a
- 34:53better person. So, yeah, but then again, it's
- 34:56like, does it get levelled because they're also in the same
- 35:01position? So it does just become a can I
- 35:03recover more than my opponent and then the luck of the draw,
- 35:07have I played earlier in the week than they have played or
- 35:10whatever? So there's lots of factors that
- 35:12go into it. But one thing that I'm because I
- 35:14everything's rotation in tennis, rotation, rotation.
- 35:18One thing that I'm sure they're all starting to do more of now,
- 35:22rather than just my focus is on having like mobility through my
- 35:26thoracic and mobile through my my trunk.
- 35:30They're doing less kind of like stretching and more actual
- 35:35strength in the rotation. There's lots of weird, wacky
- 35:37drills that you'll see on social media of any sports person who
- 35:41does rotational drills for they're, they're kind of like
- 35:44sports specific, but there's a lot of strength stuff around it.
- 35:48And it's something that I've started to play around with as
- 35:50well for golf because I was like, well, I'm really tight
- 35:53through my upper back and I was like spent ages doing lots of
- 35:56stretching and then I was actually like, maybe it's just
- 35:58I'm weak in that position. And the more strength stuff I've
- 36:01done, the more range I've got in my golf swing.
- 36:04And I'm sure it's something similar that they're doing in
- 36:05their their tennis. That's the same thing with,
- 36:08well, with like anterior pelvic tilt, because you can actually
- 36:11be really strong in a, in a contracted position and you can
- 36:14be pretty strong in a relaxed position if you're a core.
- 36:17But in between the two, you crap.
- 36:18Yeah, yeah. So you resort to one or the
- 36:20other. Sure.
- 36:21Which is exactly where I am. And the, there's a really
- 36:26interesting insight. You know, lastly, when we were
- 36:28talking about Formula One drivers, if you haven't listened
- 36:30to that episode, go back and listen.
- 36:31I thought I would love to know an insight if anyone has one, on
- 36:35the fuelling strategy. And then like they're being, if
- 36:38they're, is it a carb mix, they're drinking, they're only
- 36:40having water, are they having electrolytes, that kind of
- 36:42thing. I would love if there's any
- 36:44stats nerds out there or people that are supposed to be working
- 36:47and you want to look busy right now, go to your Google tab and
- 36:52type in and find out for us, for those that have won major
- 36:57tournaments earlier on in the tournament, when they're playing
- 37:00someone at a lower level, when they have lost a set, is it by
- 37:04quite a big gap? Because hear me out.
- 37:07That's what I'm thinking if I'm Yannick and I know that I need
- 37:10to get to the the weekend and I have a really bad game within a
- 37:14set. You just let it go.
- 37:16Do I say, OK, I'm 31 down and they're playing well, I'm 31
- 37:22down. Do I just let them have this set
- 37:24and recover and take this easier so it doesn't affect me that
- 37:27much later in the week? And then I come out next two
- 37:29sets and I just win the next two sets.
- 37:30I go hard for those. Or do I try and recover it and
- 37:33get this game done now at the risk of it being more intense
- 37:36and losing anyway in the set? I I, yeah, I also think that as
- 37:41well. But I'm just like, if you've
- 37:42made it to the top level of tennis, you're like a die hard
- 37:46competitor and all you care about is as many favourable
- 37:50stats, see your name as possible.
- 37:51So it's like I want to win as much as I can in straight sets
- 37:55and I want to drop as few games as possible.
- 37:57So I think when you're when you're down in a match, you're
- 38:00not even thinking about the next match.
- 38:02I like to think that is the. Case I'm going to try and win
- 38:04this because I just I'm I'm a competitor and I want to be the
- 38:07best and I. Want to win.
- 38:08I just, I just wonder if there has been if there is like a even
- 38:12if they're they're subconsciously doing it, but if
- 38:14there is a power like in. Maybe in a game where you're
- 38:16like, you're 40, love down, you're like, am I really going
- 38:19to fight for this one point? That's a better job.
- 38:21That's probably more realistic. That would be really interesting
- 38:25if someone is willing to do the I'm sure.
- 38:27The stats exist. We would love to.
- 38:29Well, do you know what? I'll invite you on and you can
- 38:31present your information to everybody.
- 38:32I'd love that. We need a statistician.
- 38:34Yeah, statistician long who knows, I didn't do math
- 38:39statistics at a level for that reason.
- 38:42OK. So kind of as a bit of a, a, we,
- 38:45we give a very brief insight into what a weekly overview
- 38:49would be because a lot of it is just working on the different
- 38:51skill sets of training based on how the body's feeling and where
- 38:55you are in the block in terms of intensity and just volume.
- 38:59I'm not going to go into specific Monday, Tuesday,
- 39:01Wednesday, Thursday, apart from what we said is that the
- 39:03strength work might happen towards the beginning of the
- 39:05week and then more core specific things that the weekend because
- 39:11they're shorter sessions. Like whether you're doing like a
- 39:14game simulation, you're playing one or two cents at a time.
- 39:18Then yeah, I mean, in terms of a comparison to other players, I
- 39:22think at the top of the game at the moment, we've still got Nova
- 39:24Drakoric. She's not going anywhere anytime
- 39:26soon, but Carlos Alcaraz has really come through.
- 39:29He's probably my comparison, for those that don't know tennis but
- 39:34do know football would be Yannick is more like a Cristiano
- 39:37Ronaldo in that he's really had to work on a lot of things,
- 39:41developed physically to become the player he is, and he's quite
- 39:44a calculated player. And then you've got Alcoraz,
- 39:47which is a bit more of a messy, very gifted and talented in what
- 39:52he does. He's also probably more
- 39:54powerful. That's what I was interested
- 39:56about earlier to see kind of like the difference between how
- 39:59Carlos trains versus Yannick training because does Yannick
- 40:02spend more time on the weights because he needs to put on size
- 40:05and he's finds it harder to maintain size?
- 40:08And is Carlos naturally slightly stronger, slightly more, I don't
- 40:13know, thicker set and as a result he can get away with
- 40:16doing less training in the weights room?
- 40:19They'll be interested to see that comparison, but to be
- 40:21honest with you, I'm sure they're all doing like a lot of
- 40:23the same stuff and they're all in terms of like duration of
- 40:27training per week. They're probably all doing
- 40:29similar hours, but it just might be a bit more specific based off
- 40:33their individual needs. Well, maybe when we get to
- 40:35Wimbledon sort of time based on who's run, rolling arrows, we'll
- 40:38go. We might do arrows and we can do
- 40:40a comparison episode. Compras is always a key favorite
- 40:43for Wimbledon as well with Novak.
- 40:45Should we just invite them on? I mean, he's going to be far
- 40:48away. You're actually not far away.
- 40:49For those of you that want to know some behind the scenes, I'm
- 40:51probably 10 minute drive away from Wimbledon.
- 40:54You got a spare room, Why not? Offer it out to Carlos.
- 40:57Yeah, might love it, my guy. Do you know what?
- 41:00If Yannick wins rolling out so I'll give him first dibs.
- 41:02If I was that drop him a message off the mindset, why not?
- 41:07I think to be honest, that's probably like a relatively good
- 41:10place to stop. If you guys have got more
- 41:11specific questions or you there's anything else you think
- 41:13we should know that we should share with other people and do
- 41:15let us know. We can also bring it into that
- 41:17comparisons episode now for you to be able to see the
- 41:20comparisons episode and know when it's coming.
- 41:23You know what to. Do yeah, you know what to do hit
- 41:24subscribe if you're watching on YouTube, hit follow if you're
- 41:27watching oh listening on Spotify.
- 41:30You can do the same on Apple podcast if you would like to.
- 41:33And we would love you to leave comment, drop a like if you're
- 41:37on Spotify, a five star rating would be absolutely fantastic
- 41:41and share it with people that you think would find not
- 41:43necessarily this episode, but other episodes interesting.
- 41:46That goes. So, so far, we're really
- 41:49starting to see a bit of a conversion and people enjoying
- 41:51our episodes and actually getting something out of them.
- 41:53And the more people we can get that to the the better.
- 41:56Really. So yeah, now let's give the
- 42:01people what they want. Should you grab my gears?
- 42:04I'd love that. OK.
- 42:06We've got lots of people. Writing in we yeah, we've had
- 42:08it. We've had a really strong week.
- 42:09Guys, if you didn't know you could do that, please do so.
- 42:12And again, a reminder that we actually will not ignore you
- 42:15because we, we love to hear it. And it takes the pressure off us
- 42:17to be angry all the time. And do you want to start or
- 42:20should I start? I've got I don't know what my
- 42:24grind, my gear specifically is here, but I think it's just it
- 42:27has to be bad PT ING. OK, so I'm in the gym, my local
- 42:33gym. I'm on the Echo bike, the fan
- 42:35bike. I'm doing my VO2 Max effort, so
- 42:38I'm staring at this one wall for 50 minutes or so, but in front
- 42:43of me is like the functional area.
- 42:45And there's APT with his client and I slowly start to see them
- 42:48building the height of the box because they're doing toolbox
- 42:51jumps. It's the ply box, so it's
- 42:52slightly softer. This guy's good.
- 42:54He's got pretty good jump on him.
- 42:56We're getting to like 32 inch building up, building up.
- 42:59Finally we get to 45 inches, so pretty tall.
- 43:02Yeah, it's good. And the guy, he jumps and he
- 43:05doesn't quite make it so like his his toes kind of clip the
- 43:09top of the box, but it's OK because it's a soft box supply
- 43:11box. He kind of captures himself,
- 43:13pops himself, no harm done. He looks at the PT and honesty,
- 43:19honest to God, this is what he said.
- 43:21He said try jumping higher. And I was like, you're paying
- 43:26this guy money to help you with your training, and all he has to
- 43:30say is jump higher. I don't know what it's like.
- 43:37Have you tried being better? I don't understand how someone
- 43:41can choose to do that as a professional and care that
- 43:44little little about what they do.
- 43:46I I was just like, maybe he's joking, but then I then I sat
- 43:49because I was like, that's not a good it's.
- 43:51Something I would say to you. I was between us, but I was
- 43:53like, that's not good coaching. But then also, he's not wrong.
- 43:57He's not wrong. He's not, actually.
- 43:59Just needs to jump high. Yeah, but it's like, could you
- 44:01give him some like feedback on maybe where he was standing or
- 44:05what he was doing with his hips or maybe was did you pull?
- 44:07Your toes up an arm, that kind of thing.
- 44:09The guys just like, bad. Yeah, it's just like on a
- 44:12deadlift. Why don't you just lift heavier?
- 44:16Yeah. Oh, well, like, you know, when
- 44:18someone's like doing a pull up? Yeah.
- 44:20And they're like nearly there, nearly there or standing out at
- 44:22the bottom of the squat and someone's just standing there
- 44:24going up, up, up, up, up. I'm like, what do you think
- 44:27they're thinking or what do you think they're trying to do?
- 44:29Yeah, I hate that. Yeah, you've got James has
- 44:33written in this week. OK, bit of a weird time of year
- 44:36for this one actually because I feel like the rugby season, if
- 44:40it is rugby, I don't know what are the seasons or what other
- 44:43things use. For gum.
- 44:44Shields that boil at home, gum Shields, which is a fan, not a
- 44:48fan at all. And I can I can agree with this.
- 44:51Did you ever, and this isn't a plug, but Opro, did you ever
- 44:54have an Opro gum shield? Yeah.
- 44:56OK, so a lot of people also used to hate the process with Opro
- 44:59gum Shields because they came along with the the dough, the
- 45:01warm minty dough. I fucking love.
- 45:04That gum shield day was honestly a highlight of my year.
- 45:07It was so cool. So you would look through the
- 45:09catalog of Opro designs of. What colour you're getting I
- 45:12could get. Yeah, this colour, I could get a
- 45:13United Kingdom flag, I could get South African flag if I wanted
- 45:16to, and I don't know why I would I?
- 45:17Hope it was so. Good and I would always just go
- 45:19for the clear one because it was cheapest.
- 45:21One one season I went full gold. You, you were the target of our
- 45:27team. We rock up and we'd be like.
- 45:28Yeah, and I'm wearing like bright pink boots as well, and I
- 45:31was like 12. The thing So for those that
- 45:33didn't have like a properly fitted gum shield is like.
- 45:37Oh, I loved it. Having a retainer done so they
- 45:40do a very similar process, but they mould your teeth and then
- 45:42they mould the gum shield to it. So when you put it in it stays.
- 45:45You can talk, you know it's so good and like they're just
- 45:48better quality. But when you have to use a boil
- 45:51at home 1 and you have to boil that thing until it is scorching
- 45:54and then shove it in your mouth, bite down and it doesn't even
- 45:58stay really it just drops on. I've always.
- 46:00Said I had like good experience with a boil at home gum Shields.
- 46:03I used to have a flavoured boil at home gum orange flavour.
- 46:05Oh, nice. Yeah.
- 46:06I don't. I don't know if I like because I
- 46:08had a proper gum shield for like the majority of the time I was
- 46:11playing, maybe towards the back end when I was playing less
- 46:13frequently. But I don't know if this like
- 46:15ruins the structure integrity of the gum shield.
- 46:18But I'd boil it like most times I played to make sure it was
- 46:21like stuck you. Definitely weren't supposed to
- 46:23do that, but I was. It was like stickier, I think,
- 46:26yeah. But I never made any tackles and
- 46:28never got in any contact, so I was all good.
- 46:30See, I sometimes I had just had it in my socks.
- 46:32I had a. Few and I had a spare when I was
- 46:35playing American football because I left my Opro
- 46:37sometimes. But these things that you know,
- 46:41like you boil them one time, you push it up, it burns.
- 46:43So then you're like, you don't properly go for it.
- 46:45You take it out and then you're like, ow, that's not good enough
- 46:49or I've, I've probably fucked it up.
- 46:51So then you reboiled it because you're you're allowed to do it a
- 46:54certain number of times. You put it back in, you make it
- 46:56a bit better and now your teeth are actually hurting.
- 46:59So then you don't bother and then you come to game day and
- 47:02you put it in and it basically just sits between your teeth.
- 47:05Yeah, yeah, crap, terrible. So his his grind.
- 47:07My gear was I don't like boy at home gum shoots.
- 47:10Yeah, I think you should if you're going to play contact
- 47:12sport or a sport like hockey or like go and get, go and get
- 47:15done. It's so pretty much.
- 47:17Did you ever like chew it? Yeah.
- 47:19Yeah, yeah. And then it just like flattens
- 47:21at the end. No, it must.
- 47:23Be because I always chewed my enclosed so it held its shape
- 47:26because I knew people did that and it went flat and it would
- 47:28like break I. Used to do the Henry Pollock
- 47:30before it was cool and just like have it out the side and just
- 47:32chew on it. Well, I used to have to do that
- 47:33to be able to shout. If I was changing a plate I
- 47:38could speak with the oppro but I couldn't like be specific.
- 47:40Because you not have the one that like attached to your
- 47:43helmet, your cage. So no, because those were the
- 47:46boiler homes, and they never fit your teeth like a fashion.
- 47:48So when you put that in, it just doesn't fit the ones that you
- 47:51see. Yeah, the fashion seams that you
- 47:52see in the NFL, they're all like silicon.
- 47:54They're really soft. They actually you do nothing.
- 47:56Oh, perfect. And you just shove it in because
- 47:57it's got a cool thing that goes over your lips and looks like, I
- 47:59know bare teeth or something. I was like, yeah, I wouldn't be
- 48:04able to use those because you wouldn't be able to hear me
- 48:05talk. Sure.
- 48:07Next one I've got is from Katie Meal prep companies and their
- 48:11fake ads sponsor an actual podcast, which I rate so much.
- 48:14Thank you very much. If there are any meal prep
- 48:16companies, just send them to us. We'll we'll figure it out.
- 48:19But I have also seen. I know exactly what you're
- 48:21talking about. Name them or we could do it.
- 48:24We could do a better job for simmer thrive.
- 48:30I don't know if callow have done the fake podcast things, but
- 48:35regardless, your food might actually be good.
- 48:38You are wasting yourself on on the advertising.
- 48:41So if you haven't seen it would just be like someone with a
- 48:45microphone a bit like we are here just being like, what do
- 48:48you mean? I could get 35 meals made for
- 48:52insert separately recorded price £42.99.
- 48:58That's insane. I spend 8 hours a day cooking
- 49:00chicken at home on a Sunday. And it's it's so like the math
- 49:03just doesn't make sense because it's like you'll spend £85
- 49:07buying chicken and rice and then you'll spend 92 hours on a
- 49:10Sunday cooking it. Why would you?
- 49:12And it's just like, come on, Like if your product's good,
- 49:15just actually show how good the product is.
- 49:17If it looks nice, I'll probably want it.
- 49:20So that was a good one. That's so good.
- 49:21Have you got another one? I had someone write in and I
- 49:24think it's more of like a hot take than a grind my gear and it
- 49:29was more of like this is my hot take and discuss.
- 49:33Cross fitters can go and do a high ROX and probably do quite
- 49:37well just with their training, but high Roxers can't go to a
- 49:41CrossFit event and potentially even do some of the movements,
- 49:46let alone do well. And then it was just like a
- 49:49discuss. Here's my hot take.
- 49:51But yeah, that's completely true.
- 49:52Crossfitters train for all sorts of different skill variety.
- 49:57They learn how to Olympic weightlift, how to do
- 49:59gymnastics. They can run, they can row, they
- 50:03can ski, they can carry heavy stuff.
- 50:05They can push sleds, pull sleds, they can wobble.
- 50:08Wobble wall balling is a CrossFit movement that high
- 50:11rocks adopted. So all Crossfitters can go.
- 50:14They might not love the running component, but you see lots of
- 50:17like top level Crossfitters. The best example recently is
- 50:21really George, I don't know if you know a French athlete, he
- 50:24stopped competing in CrossFit because he had a bad shoulder
- 50:26injury. And then he turned all of his
- 50:28attention to becoming like this absolute freak hybrid athlete.
- 50:32And I think he ran like a, a low 50 something solo pro.
- 50:38Like he's on the he's on the brink.
- 50:40Like he's a great athlete. And then if you take a high
- 50:45Roxer and go, you need to now do a CrossFit comp, you have to
- 50:49snatch. They're like, what's that?
- 50:51Don't know how to do. I maybe can do a dumbbell
- 50:53snatch. You have to do toes to bar, you
- 50:55have to do ring muscle UPS, you have to do handstand walk in.
- 50:58There's lots of skills there. So it's like if you wanted a
- 51:00more complete training kind of methodology, you'd probably
- 51:04choose CrossFit. So then again, like Kyrox isn't
- 51:08a methodology, it's just the sport.
- 51:09It's an event I think. Yeah, So Hyrox is born arguably
- 51:13out of Crossfit's basics. So then if if I do a comparison
- 51:16which will hopefully quieten that debate over whether or not
- 51:19that's like a hierarchs athletes or real athletes.
- 51:22If you take ski and snowboard cross, my favorite things to
- 51:24watch Olympics, and then you take which, which was born out
- 51:29of the the independent sports, but not racing.
- 51:31It was born out of the extreme stuff.
- 51:33So if you take a half pipe snowboarder and that's like the
- 51:38CrossFit variant, they'll be able to, they'll be able to go
- 51:41and do ski, ski and snowball cross, but a ski and snowball
- 51:43cross person would. Can't do bad.
- 51:45Best be able to do anything. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 51:47So I, I, I think it's fair that CrossFit is you get annoyed
- 51:51because hierarchs athletes can't do their sport and maybe they go
- 51:53misrepresented is like unfit because they might go slower
- 51:57than a hierarchy. But.
- 51:58Like that's the frustration. That's already separated
- 52:01themselves. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:01I don't look at someone that does well in a hierarchs and go,
- 52:05you're so much fitter. No than James Frey.
- 52:08Yeah. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 52:09Like yeah, exactly. OK, Next one I've got is from
- 52:14Fran. Chain restaurants changing their
- 52:16menus a lot, and I've experienced this as well, so I'm
- 52:19going to. I don't know if this is what
- 52:21she's talking about, but Nando's have upset me many, many times
- 52:24by just taking things off their menu and then just not really
- 52:28like disguising it by bringing something in that no one asked
- 52:31for. I didn't actually want fully
- 52:33knoded chips. And then he broke.
- 52:35Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 52:36Yeah. So yeah, I think I don't.
- 52:38Know if there's any other good examples of that?
- 52:39Pizza Express have changed some stuff that was another staple
- 52:42when I was at uni. Pizza Express has really upset
- 52:45me. And I think they've changed
- 52:47their tomato. Sauce, by the way.
- 52:48Oh, really? Yeah, it's crap.
- 52:49I I used to fight the argument that Pizza Express was one of
- 52:53the most consistent dining experiences.
- 52:56And if you wanted a pizza that I maybe for nostalgic reasons was
- 53:02good. And the whole experience was
- 53:04nice. And I even defended the price
- 53:07because it is expensive to go to Pizza Express.
- 53:10I went to Pizza Express, not actually that recently but
- 53:14recently enough. The whole thing was ruined for
- 53:16me. My all of my like good childhood
- 53:18memories and experiences of Pizza Express was ruined by this
- 53:20one bad experience. That pizza's overpriced.
- 53:23It's not good and I was upset. I I think this is actually
- 53:27important for athletes to know about because, because when in
- 53:32the lead up to an event, often the event is not in your
- 53:34hometown, so you have to go and eat out somewhere.
- 53:37You want something that is reliable and good.
- 53:39Yeah, yeah. And for the most part with the
- 53:41sports we talk about, card based Nanos is always a great option
- 53:45because you know what you're going to get.
- 53:46And the more they fuck around with that, the more nervous that
- 53:48makes me. I don't need to deal with that
- 53:50mental stress. Pizza Express would be another
- 53:52one where I'd walk in. I'd be like, well, I know I'm
- 53:54going to get a Lauren on the classical.
- 53:56Romana, yeah, but then and Dobles.
- 53:59And, and I'm going to get Dobles now that's hold on a minute,
- 54:02hold on a minute. You've changed the pizza sauce
- 54:04and I don't like the pizza. Anymore they have a different
- 54:06base as well. You have another base option.
- 54:08It used to be so simple. Fernando's.
- 54:10At least the staples are still there.
- 54:12Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:14But. You can still get chips, Yeah.
- 54:15You can still get garlic bread. Yeah.
- 54:17And you can still get some form of chicken.
- 54:18Yeah, but that's not everyone's favorite thing.
- 54:20But at least you have this, the reliable staples.
- 54:24Yeah, I mean, I've lost my kids. Deal.
- 54:27Yeah. That's I'm sure.
- 54:28That's tough feeling. That was annoying.
- 54:31That was the best thing ever. I'm not going to go back into
- 54:33that. I don't got another one.
- 54:35I know you've got another one. OK, so we've so we've had
- 54:39previously we've had someone write in and they felt ignored.
- 54:41Their boyfriend has actually sent us in something.
- 54:43This time they were travelling, ignoring my girlfriend.
- 54:46They were they were travelling and that they were just away for
- 54:50work basically they went into a gym and it strictly said on
- 54:53multiple times. Apparently no training with
- 54:56shoes off. Oh, she's off.
- 54:58OK, OK. I don't think their fee is
- 55:01acceptable, but like shoes off if you're in socks is I think
- 55:04that's fine. That's me.
- 55:07So they didn't have lifting shoes and they had like some big
- 55:10lifts to do. They weren't going to do that in
- 55:12their daily shoes because that's what they had with them.
- 55:14So they trained with their shoes off and they just got the evils
- 55:17from everybody. And I think, do you know what?
- 55:21There's two sides to this. One, you're literally breaking
- 55:24the rules. So kind of Fair.
- 55:26Two, I disagree with the rules. So there, it's still the rule I.
- 55:31Get it? It's it's hard.
- 55:33So I have two things to say about this.
- 55:36The first one when you go travelling, this is arguably the
- 55:40most stressful thing is choosing what footwear to take because
- 55:45when I go away, I want to go running, I want to have just a
- 55:49casual pair of shoes and I probably want to go to the gym.
- 55:52And when I want to go to the gym, it depends what I'm going
- 55:54to do in there. But I don't necessarily want to
- 55:57wear like because my casual shoes.
- 55:58You could wear Vans in the gym or like Gazelles or something in
- 56:02the gym, Jordan ones in the gym. But actually I want a more
- 56:06functional shoe so I'll probably go and wear something like Rads
- 56:09for example. Plug there.
- 56:12So now I've got 3 pairs of shoes but I don't have enough space if
- 56:15I want to take my runners. And what if I wanted to do a
- 56:17fast session when I'm away? Do I have to take carbons or?
- 56:19It's all So I can understand why going to the gym you want to
- 56:24take your shoes off because you haven't got the correct
- 56:25footwear. But also, couldn't you just
- 56:27manipulate the session to do something different off program
- 56:30or well, no. So this is what I say to people
- 56:35like, I don't know if it's a hygiene thing, but if you're
- 56:40going to take your shoes off in my class when you're doing
- 56:42deadlifts, for example, because you've got like big runners on,
- 56:45I don't mind it. But you're taking responsibility
- 56:47for your feet for sure. You ain't taking your socks off
- 56:50because that's big red card. But if you drop something on
- 56:54your toes, maybe your shoes aren't going to give you that
- 56:57much protection anyway. But if you drop something on
- 56:59your shoe, on your foot in socks, it's going to be more
- 57:01painful. You take responsibility for
- 57:03that. Be sensible.
- 57:05But that leads me on to the second thing that also happened
- 57:07when I was on my fan bike efforts.
- 57:09This one guy, he'd got out like one of the communal mats, yoga
- 57:14mats, He's spent so long spraying it and wiping it.
- 57:18Like so long. Like he was clearly so paranoid
- 57:21about touching anything. Spray, spray, spray, spray,
- 57:23spray, spray, spray. That's right.
- 57:24I'm going to say 5 minutes wiping this thing down.
- 57:27Yeah, yeah. Went to put the spray back and
- 57:30as he returned, some woman just walked straight over it.
- 57:34It was honestly the the interaction.
- 57:36She was like, she wasn't even sorry.
- 57:39And then he did the whole thing again.
- 57:41He had, he went and wiped it again.
- 57:43That's horrible. It was really, really funny.
- 57:45Yeah, it was really funny. I'm just thinking if I was in
- 57:49the gym that had all the rules of like you can't train without
- 57:53socks on, I would probably go over to someone and I would
- 57:55probably say like, do you mind putting your shoes back on?
- 57:59Yeah. The only thing that would stop
- 58:00me doing that is if they were wearing high socks, Of course,
- 58:07who we are crowd and party with. And the reason that I wouldn't
- 58:10stop them is because I can see that they've got adequate grip
- 58:13on the bottom of their socks. They do, which is extremely
- 58:15useful not just for lifting in the gym, but for all of your
- 58:18other sorting fence feeling contact.
- 58:20Now you might also be thinking, and I promise you genuinely,
- 58:23this was a gram I get that got sent in and the person that's
- 58:26listening to this that sent it in is probably thinking how on
- 58:28earth have they turned this grind my gear into this?
- 58:30But if you are ever going away and you're travelling, then you
- 58:32might also benefit from podium chaser, which is connected to
- 58:35high socks because they have compact travel towels.
- 58:38Nice. Which means that you can go to
- 58:40the gym and you won't ever have to worry about making a mess on
- 58:43your map because you could just lie this down and sweat on to
- 58:47that. And then there's the high style
- 58:50and the podium chaser logo right in the middle there.
- 58:52That's actually my my sauna towel because it's perfect for
- 58:55like butt size. Butt size when you say yeah,
- 58:57there you go. I don't think that's on any of
- 58:59their current reviews, but it should be sure they add it.
- 59:02But yeah, guys, if you want to go and grab towels, other forms
- 59:06of clothing, or if you want to give the socks a go, head over
- 59:09to high style cloth or high socks and use the code mindset
- 59:131515% off. That will mean that hopefully
- 59:16you don't get pestered so much by other people in the gym and
- 59:20you can have a bit more of a relaxing session getting the
- 59:22work done that you need to do. We've got to add touch rugby to
- 59:27the useful socks. Really.
- 59:29Yeah, yeah, yeah. So good in the boots.
- 59:30There we go. Just like people up, left,
- 59:32right. I wasn't.
- 59:36It's worth also saying and reminding you guys again, if
- 59:38you're at this point and you haven't started tapping the
- 59:41button on the screen that makes this part of the podcast go
- 59:43quicker, please do head to at Mysets under score Podcast and
- 59:48give us some support. Our page is actually doing
- 59:51pretty well at the moment on socials, but it's not home
- 59:54unless you guys are there. So what basically happens, if
- 59:56you haven't seen it, is I'll say something mildly incorrect.
- 1:00:01Yes. Kind of, but in the context of
- 1:00:04the podcast, I've explained that this might not be right, but
- 1:00:07Angus then takes it, clips it, and out of context.
- 1:00:10Out of context sounds terrible. And then we'll post it on the
- 1:00:12Internet for everyone to then just absolutely shred me in the
- 1:00:15comments section. So that's what you're missing
- 1:00:17out on. It's business at the end of the
- 1:00:19day, and without you guys following and sharing with your
- 1:00:21friends, we have to stoop to the bargain really, really low and
- 1:00:24go begging for engagement like that.
- 1:00:26So please do your bit, genuinely subscribe and follow.
- 1:00:28It means so, so much. We're a very similar point
- 1:00:32across platforms in terms of how many like subscribers or
- 1:00:35followers we've got. And if we can just get like 10
- 1:00:38or 15% more of you to actually hit the button, we can do some
- 1:00:42pretty cool things. And in fact, do you know what?
- 1:00:45Here right now, and I'm saying this and I know I've got it,
- 1:00:49this is ad space. So if you have a business or if
- 1:00:52you know people that would like to push their business, then we
- 1:00:55want to only be doing that with brands that we think we would
- 1:00:58work well with and that you guys would benefit from.
- 1:01:00But that is another way that we can be supported.
- 1:01:02And the only way to do that is to have your guys support by
- 1:01:05clicking buttons that are free. So if you could please do that,
- 1:01:08that would be absolutely massive.
- 1:01:10And we're going to immediately make you feel better and less
- 1:01:13sad about us asking you to do that by getting into the game
- 1:01:16this week. The game is called You heard Me
- 1:01:19because. Wait, have you got the answers
- 1:01:21there on your screen? No, not.
- 1:01:22OK, fine, because I've written them.
- 1:01:24OK, fine. So I can.
- 1:01:25What's going to happen in this game is Charles is going to be
- 1:01:28given effectively a sentence of words, which sounds like
- 1:01:31something else. I'm sure people would have seen
- 1:01:32this online. He needs to tell me what
- 1:01:34relevant sporting thing he is saying without any guidance.
- 1:01:39If you're watching this online, you'll be able to see what the
- 1:01:41words are on screen so you can play along a bit as well.
- 1:01:44There are ten of these. I'm going to be so bad.
- 1:01:46We're going. To start off, they are so easy.
- 1:01:49OK, so let's go. Can you see number one there?
- 1:01:52Yeah. OK, so give me my glasses.
- 1:01:54Read it out. I can make this a little bit
- 1:01:56bigger for you because you are in your 30s now.
- 1:01:58I know. Oh, actually, side note, yeah, I
- 1:02:01was running around the rugby field yesterday, Yeah.
- 1:02:04And when Oh, my hips ref goes, how are you complaining your
- 1:02:08hips? What are you like 22?
- 1:02:10I was like, oh. Did you correct him?
- 1:02:12No. Yeah.
- 1:02:13Good one, Ref. Nice.
- 1:02:17I reckon the ref was younger than me as well.
- 1:02:20Oh, OK, well, that's that's an even bigger compliment.
- 1:02:22Yeah, I know. It was so good.
- 1:02:24OK, right, let's start with #1. My tactic is to say it fast.
- 1:02:28You need to just say it out loud for everyone to be able to play
- 1:02:30at home, regardless of whether you think you know it straight
- 1:02:32away. My key, My key.
- 1:02:35I'll Jordan. Michael Jordan.
- 1:02:38Straight away started easy. Good.
- 1:02:41OK. Next one, as long as we've got
- 1:02:43one. Next one.

- 1:02:59Ice Wimbledon. Tennis.
- 1:03:02Yes, Got it. Good.
- 1:03:05That was hard, OK. Next one.
- 1:03:09Do you want to veal tricks? Do you?
- 1:03:13I've played this game when it's like where is it like something
- 1:03:17like either really sexual or like, yeah, you know, that's
- 1:03:20that's that's a good game. Do you want to veal tricks, DV
- 1:03:24tricks or Joanna V tricks? Got it.
- 1:03:29Yeah. No way.
- 1:03:30Did you come up with these? Yeah, I did.
- 1:03:31I promise. That was incredible.
- 1:03:34That's niche, OK. You've got to read these out.
- 1:03:41I'm going to, OK. O Gustan, the show anal Hold it
- 1:03:48together. Charles OK O Gustar no show anal

- 1:04:08like I'm being stupid. Augusta starna starna show anal
- 1:04:17Augustana show. Is it one word?
- 1:04:20No, it's 2 words O goo star Nah show anal.
- 1:04:29The way that I would naturally say it probably is killing me.
- 1:04:32I think I would. I would question.
- 1:04:34So the first word here is OWI would say that's not O.
- 1:04:38Oh well, it's like ow Augusta. That might help you.
- 1:04:46Augusta, na show anal. Can you give me a clue?
- 1:04:52Golf. Oh my God, that's good.

- 1:05:22Very good. You're flying at the moment.
- 1:05:23OK, here we go. Oh, what's that?
- 1:05:34What's that? Sugma.
- 1:05:34What's that thing? Sugma.
- 1:05:42I wasn't expecting this. OK, Ligma.
- 1:05:45But bowels? Bowls.
- 1:05:49That's a crazy thing to say on our podcast, by the way.
- 1:05:51We'll move on. I had.
- 1:05:54That was because you made last this game impossible.
- 1:05:56So I had to get you to say ligma balls and on the podcast.
- 1:06:00OK, right, let's go. We've still we've still got 10
- 1:06:03legit ones. That was just a bonus for him
- 1:06:04there. OK, next one.

- 1:06:13good. That's so good.

- 1:06:17I don't even have to say. You've got to read out.
- 1:06:19Mark Kiss verse happened. Yeah.
- 1:06:24Max Verstappen. Yes, Good.
- 1:06:26OK, next one. Wembliss Tame Doom Wemble,
- 1:06:34Wembliss Wembley Stadium. No way you came up with it.
- 1:06:39I genuinely did. Yeah, that's incredible.
- 1:06:42We've got two more. OK, Ellie.
- 1:06:45Glock C Ellie. Elligloxy gloxy gloxy L gloxy le
- 1:06:57gloxy le gloxy le gloxy elligoxy le gloxy.
- 1:07:10Am I saying it? Yeah, this one's, this one's not
- 1:07:14exactly as it sounds. It's it's similar.
- 1:07:16I would tell you that the first word of these 3 words you're
- 1:07:19saying is like the first part and the 2nd 2 words are the
- 1:07:23second word of the thing. Ellie Glock.
- 1:07:27C Glock L Li Li Glock C. So the words for people
- 1:07:34listening home is Ellie Glock. CFC no.
- 1:07:42Oh cool, I give up. LA Galaxy, LA Glock.
- 1:07:50That's a tough. That's a tough one.
- 1:07:52That's tough I should have done. That last one, you're on for LA,
- 1:07:55you're on for Logan if you get the last one, which is very
- 1:07:58good. OK, Ready.
- 1:07:59Yeah, I'm kicking myself. RC draws food.
- 1:08:05Bale. Ah, ah, ah, ow.
- 1:08:12I'll see Jules. Food, Bale.

- 1:08:21Could be foot football. I see Jules football.
- 1:08:30I can't wait. Hang on.
- 1:08:32I see Jules for Bale. What if I told you is your final
- 1:08:36clue for this? First 2 words are the first word
- 1:08:38middle word. Arsenal Football.
- 1:08:40No middle word is the middle world middle word.
- 1:08:44Oh, it's 3 words. So it's 3 words.
- 1:08:46In this it's two first 2 words the first word, middle 1 is the
- 1:08:50second word, last two words the last word.
- 1:08:52Aussie Is it a person? No.
- 1:08:55It's a sport. Aussie.
- 1:08:58Oh, I see. Oh, I see.
- 1:09:02I'm saying it, aren't I? You're struggling.
- 1:09:07Aussie draws for bell, for bell, for for bell.
- 1:09:16I don't know I'm. Giving up with this one.
- 1:09:18I hate myself for giving up. This one 4C draws food.
- 1:09:23Bell is Aussie rules football. That's good.
- 1:09:27Yeah. So I think you've got a out of
- 1:09:2910, I'll give you 9 out of 11 because you've got ligma balls
- 1:09:33as well. Flashed it crazy, but yeah, well
- 1:09:37done. That was actually pretty good,
- 1:09:38so. That's got obvious.
- 1:09:40I just I don't think I'm going to be able to create something
- 1:09:43that good. I'll bring this back.
- 1:09:44I'm right. Yeah.
- 1:09:45We'll do it with a guest. I think people will love that.
- 1:09:47You can work as a team with a guest to.
- 1:09:49Try and that's so good. That was one of our one of our
- 1:09:51best games ever, I think. OK, cool.
- 1:09:53Well if you guys enjoyed it, let us know.
- 1:09:55We'll do more of that. Likewise, if you've got any
- 1:09:57other athletes you want to send an insight on or if there's any
- 1:09:59further information that you have about these athletes.
- 1:10:02We actually did get a few people message about some Moto GP
- 1:10:04things, actually positive stuff, not just falling for the rage
- 1:10:06bait that were super interesting.
- 1:10:08So we can bring those into future episodes.
- 1:10:10So please do not hold back. Like I said prior to the game,
- 1:10:14please do what you can to support us in terms of just
- 1:10:17following the page, sharing something with a friend, telling
- 1:10:19someone else to listen. It means a lot more than you
- 1:10:22imagine it does. And so we appreciate you all for
- 1:10:25doing so. So anything else from you?
- 1:10:27I've got nothing. We're going to episode 89 next
- 1:10:30time, and then we're on to the last 10 before something really,
- 1:10:33really crazy. Yeah.
- 1:10:35Can't wait. That's how counting works,
- 1:10:37right, guys? Look what?
- 1:10:38Seeing you in the next episode.
