Transcript
- 0:00Today's episode is sponsored by Nettie Pots and Soup.
- 0:04Do they actually help? Debatable, but definitely make you feel productive.
- 0:08How they're both singular, you can't touch them, they're in a league of their own.
- 0:13Anna Taylor Joy answering a question on the Today Show on how Joni Mitchell
- 0:18and Super Mario's Princess Peach are similar.
- 0:22Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and
- 0:25maybe a laugh. I'm Lindsay Wernick and it's March 20th, 2026.
- 0:30If you don't know, my roommate is an amazing singer and saxophonist,
- 0:34and she plays the flute too.
- 0:36She's amazing. She's been on tour with the Jonas Brothers.
- 0:38She's in this band called Bill Murray.
- 0:41And then she's also played on a Grammy-nominated song for Sleep Token.
- 0:46She's about to go on her own little mini tour for a very limited time.
- 0:50You can see her in a very intimate venue near you.
- 0:53She'll be playing in Virginia, New York, Philly, and Boston.
- 0:59So the link to get tickets to the show is in my episode description.
- 1:05I think New York is about to sell out soon, so make sure you go on and grab
- 1:09your tickets, and the shows are next week.
- 1:11And let me know if you'll be in philly or new york i'll be
- 1:14there so in real news abc has officially
- 1:17pulled the bachelorette after a video surfaced of the bachelorette taylor frankie
- 1:22paul assaulting her partner this happened back in 2023 and abc was very well
- 1:28aware of her prior arrest when they casted her but it just kind of blew up when
- 1:33it actually got surfaced i mean love that them i I mean,
- 1:37they're big, we support the mess, just not when it has footage energy.
- 1:41ABC released a statement saying they're focusing on supporting the family,
- 1:45which is PR code for we like to exit this whole situation immediately and pretend
- 1:51that we don't even know who she is.
- 1:53Also, production on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is also paused because
- 1:58the cast were all like, yeah, we're going to sit this one out.
- 2:01Nothing like reality TV being too chaotic for reality TV.
- 2:06And honestly, that's when you know that it's bad.
- 2:09The Bachelorette was literally supposed to premiere this Sunday.
- 2:13Which means, yeah, they already filmed the entire season.
- 2:17Like, fully filmed.
- 2:19She went on a million dates with all these guys. She decided on one.
- 2:23And now, all of it is shelved.
- 2:26And you know, a lot of crazy shit has happened over the seasons.
- 2:30But I guess ABC hit their limit with this one.
- 2:33Turns out, you can't edit around a felony. Who knew? Thank you.
- 2:36So, Ozempic is about to go generic, but not here. No, no, no,
- 2:41that would make way too much sense.
- 2:43It's going generic in places like India, China, Brazil.
- 2:46Basically, countries with, you know, billions of people.
- 2:50Meanwhile, in the U.S., we're being told, See you in the 2030s.
- 2:53Good luck out there. Love that timeline for us. We're really thriving.
- 2:57Right now, the name brand version from Novo Nordstick can cost hundreds a month in the U.S.
- 3:03Meanwhile, generics overseas could drop to like $15.
- 3:08That's not even the price of a salad from Sweetgreen. It is literally the same
- 3:13drug, the same results, the same tiny little injection.
- 3:16But depending on where you live, it's either life-changing medication or a luxury
- 3:21item with a payment plan.
- 3:23And the reason for all this is because of patents.
- 3:26Because in America, we don't just have expensive healthcare.
- 3:29We have healthcare with a VIP section.
- 3:32There are special protections that basically let drug companies keep exclusive
- 3:37rights longer, which is great for innovation, and terrible for literally everyone with a body.
- 3:42So while the rest of the world is about to enter their affordable wellness era,
- 3:46Americans are still in their, should I afford rent this month or lose a couple pounds era.
- 3:51But obviously, people are going to absolutely start importing it.
- 3:55We already go to Mexico to get cheaper drugs. So now it all gives us more of a reason to go there.
- 4:02In today's episode of Inside Thoughts That Should Stay Inside,
- 4:06Donald Trump made a joke about Pearl Harbor while sitting next to Japan's prime minister.
- 4:13That would be like someone going to their ex's wedding that they're now friends
- 4:17with and talking about their breakup.
- 4:19During the meeting, Trump said, Who knows surprise better than Japan?
- 4:22Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor?
- 4:25And reportedly, she just kind of widened her eyes and took a deep breath,
- 4:29which was basically saying, I'm going to pretend that I did not just hear that.
- 4:34I'm already sitting close enough to the guy. I'm just going to let this one go.
- 4:38Historically, U.S. presidents have avoided bringing up Pearl Harbor in
- 4:41this context because i don't know maybe like social awareness
- 4:44also because the u.s and japan have spent decades
- 4:48building a strong alliance and typically you don't strengthen a
- 4:50relationship by reopening the worst moment of it like a callback i mean there
- 4:56were some laughs in the room but they were mostly laughs out of shock that he
- 4:59actually just said that the thing is here is that diplomacy is usually very
- 5:03choreographed very intentional very let's not accidentally start a problem and then sometimes
- 5:08someone just freestyles way too aggressively and it's always the same person every single time.
- 5:14And sometimes they just never learn their lesson.
- 5:17In Lindsay Life, I finally solved a New York Times puzzle, mainly because one
- 5:21of the answers was the name of a guy that I used to date.
- 5:25An MVP this week goes to Amber Glenn, who did something truly groundbreaking at the Olympics.
- 5:31She talked about periods.
- 5:33So after she performed, she casually mentioned she
- 5:36was competing on her period and the world reacted like she
- 5:39had just confessed to a felony which is wild because
- 5:43half the population of the entire world gets a period and the other half acts
- 5:48like it's this crazy medical condition she literally said yeah this is hard
- 5:52we don't talk about it and suddenly everyone was like wait yeah we don't which
- 5:58was very groundbreaking and
- 6:00So now she's partnering with Kotex to normalize the conversation,
- 6:03which honestly feels very overdue considering we've done full documentaries on men's calves.
- 6:09Like after the Olympics, people talk about their torn ACLs and ankle sprains,
- 6:14and maybe he just wasn't in the right headspace. But periods?
- 6:17I mean, that's never talked about.
- 6:19Very, very taboo. I mean, competing on ice in a leotard during the Olympics?
- 6:25That's like running a marathon with a stomach flu and being like, yeah
- 6:28this sucked and everyone going wow you're so
- 6:31brave i mean if men had periods there would be live commentary
- 6:35stats a halftime segment and a gatorade specifically
- 6:38for it but instead women are expected just to compete like nothing's happening
- 6:43so yeah mvp goes to amber glenn for actually talking about that on tv and not
- 6:49being ashamed of it i mean it feels a lot harder than most things men have ever
- 6:54done, emotionally and physically.
- 6:56Cooking tip of the day. Everything but the bagel seasoning really can go on everything.
- 7:01Feedback, comments, questions, and any Jewish boy looking for a date,

- 7:09Hopefully it gets warmer outside, and hopefully I'm not sick the next time I
- 7:13talk to you guys, and I will talk to you on Monday.
