- Bekah Yawn: ultimately, we don't get to control our lives, we don't get to control our fertility, we don't get to control our children or the children that we want to have. That's that's not in our court. But what is in our court is being responsible partners with the Lord for our physical bodies and our spirits and our minds, for nourishing them and nurturing them to take good care of them in this world for the service of his kingdom and for the bringing of new life for the glory of him Hey sister, welcome to For the Love of Hormones. Have you been trying to get pregnant and are struggling to trust God's timing? Has a miscarriage made you question if you can carry a healthy pregnancy? Hey, I'm Becca. I'm a wife, stay-at-home mom, and daughter of God. I have four children here on earth and three babies in heaven. After our third miscarriage, I left the doctor's office feeling hopeless and really helpless. Until God revealed what I was missing, understanding my cycle and his design and how to support it naturally. Since my healing journey, God has blessed us with two more healthy daughters. In this podcast, you will find answers to your hormone, cycle, and holistic health questions so that you can get pregnant naturally with God and the driver's seat. So for the love of hormones, put that pregnancy test stick down because it's time for a come to Jesus in hormones meeting. Okay, so let's dive in, ladies. I am so thankful to be here. Thank you for your patience in just the rescheduling of tonight. I had a doula client who was in labor and had her baby over yesterday and today, and so it's been a little bit crazy and fun. but let me just start off with introducing myself. I am from Erie, Colorado. I have been married for almost 11 years now, and I am a mother. To four oppression, loud, joyful children on earth and three little ones in heaven that I cannot wait to meet one day. I am a fertility awareness educator with the FEM method that stands for fertility education and medical management. I am also a fiat hormone coach. Fiat is F-I-A-T. it is a Christian Hormone coaching certification program that really, really loves Jesus. And so that's who I'm certified through. And I'm also a birth doula and childbirth educator. but tonight what we're focusing on is your hormones. because I know you're here if you are trying to conceive or maybe you've had a miscarriage or several miscarriages, and you're wanting to figure out what is going on with your cycle and with your hormones, and what can you be doing naturally? within the Lord's design to support any imbalances or anything that is off. so the reason that I got into this work goes back to my three babies in heaven. one of the stories that I love sharing, it's embarrassing to me, but honestly, I think a lot of us are there. it was after I'd had I can't even remember which miscarriage, but it was one of my miscarriage and I was having it was a couple weeks afterwards and I was having really intense stomach pain. And I was like, no, maybe I'm getting an infection or something. And so I called my doctor and I told her what was happening. And she said, Well, are you ovulating? And I was like, I don't know. Like I was literally dumbfounded. I didn't know how to even define what was ovulation, let alone know or understand. how to determine if I was ovulating. And so that that was definitely one of the flags in me that made me realize I need to figure this out. I need to understand what's going on. So that's that's just one of the things that has led me to where I am now. And I love to walk with women in their journeys because boy did I go down all the rabbit holes I'm sure you've heard of like all my certifications and everything. I got certified and all those things because those are the things that I found in my healing journey. And I want woman to know and I want women to learn what I learned about what ovulation is and what it means for your cycle and how to identify it. and what it means for getting pregnant and staying pregnant. so we're gonna dive in and I hope that this class gives you the support and answers. and kind of like a springboard that the Lord gives you in front of this big ocean of fertility awareness and hormone awareness and hormone support that I believe are gifts of knowledge that God has given us. And I pray that the Holy Spirit would direct you. so let's just pray and we're gonna kick off. Lord Jesus, we come before you. I thank you so much for today. Thank you for this class. Thank you for all of these women who are listening, Lord. And I just pray that you would give them ears to hear, eyes to see, and a heart that is soft and receptive just to this beautiful information that you have given to us, that you have given to me to give to my sister. And so I pray that she would be able to receive it, to be able to grab onto it, and that you would direct her steps, Lord. We pray these things in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen. now the scripture that we have today is one that maybe you've kind of rolled your eyes at recently, or maybe you've thought, nope, that's not for me. It's Psalm 139, 14. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. I know that fool well. And this is true for you. You May be in a very broken and difficult season in your life. But that does not mean that you are not fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator? You are a fearfully and wonderfully made being by God Himself that lives in a suffering and broken world. But let us hold on to the essence of the wonder. Of who you are and who you've been made to be. And with that essence, I am going to share my screen. And I get to teach tonight on one of my favorite slides. This is, I'm gonna be honest, though, this is probably like my second favorite slide in all of the FEM sessions that you learn inside of my course fertility framework, or inside of any anyone else who teaches FEM, right? You're gonna learn. these slides, and this is just a little taste of of what it is. So this is the ovulation cycle, and we we don't call it your menstrual cycle, we call it your ovulation cycle because your ovulation is the main event of what's happening. So before we dig into this, I know you might be looking at this picture and thinking, like, my goodness, there's so much to see here. Like, what are all these lines? I think these are the hormones. What is this little Circle blob thing in the middle, and what is the what are these colored squares at the bottom? So, you learn about all the ins and outs of this in the FEM education training, which is just a part, a very big and important part of what's inside a fertility framework. And you learn what all of this means, and you learn what is a healthy cycle, and then you also get to see pictures and look at. examples of what is an unhealthy cycle and what is my body doing? What it you know what what's going on with me so I'm going to refrain from walking through this whole thing. and and first I just want to ask have you ever considered the depth of the Lord's design for your body? Because just looking at this image here, it's crazy because it's like whoa, this is a lot I remember first seeing this image and then we go a lot deeper in our femme education training to become an educator. I just remember looking at all this, and and by this point, like I'd learned a lot about the fertility cycle. when I became when I decided I wanted to become a femme teacher, I'd already learned a lot, but man, when I went through the process to become a femme educator, I was just mind blown by all the information I was learning. And I was like, wow. How could anyone learn this stuff and not praise God? Like, how could anyone learn this stuff and not give glory to the one who made it all? Like it's crazy. So, as I'm talking tonight and as we kind of go through these things, I want you to just reflect all of this back to our creator and to be like, wow, God, you have made us woman so intricate and so detailed and delicate. It's it's truly incredible. So let's make sure that we worship him with this design. And and I encourage you to humbly get on your knees and ask him to restore any brokenness that is not functioning within his original design. so let's go ahead and go through. I am gonna teach you, I'm not gonna teach you all the things on here, but we would be here for quite a while. but I do want to teach you about this top section. and just talk about the hormones. Okay, so these here are four of your main sex hormones. There are more, but these are the four main ones that will contribute to the ovulation cycle. So you can see here we have the pink FSH, that's follicle stimulating hormone. We have the blue estrogen, that's the blue line, and we have kind of this brown. LH that stands for luteinizing hormone, and then we have the gray progesterone. And so all of these hormones have a big role in this ovulation process. So, really briefly, I'll give you a quick overview of this. FSH, like I said, it's the follicle stimulating hormone. So, its role is to stimulate a follicle. So, you see these little circles and dots down here. This is an egg inside of a follicle. So this egg inside of the follicle is stimulated to start growing from that hormone FSH, which is elevated above all the other hormones at the beginning of the cycle. And as that FSH is stimulating the follicle, it starts to ask the ovaries to make more estrogen to continue to grow that follicle. So estrogen starts to rise. as estrogen increases quickly and rapidly and swiftly, it triggers the brain to fire another hormone called the luteinizing hormone. And the luteinizing hormone is that main ovulatory hormone that you may have peeing on a stick sometimes, like with an ovulation predictor kit or LH test strips to tell if you're ovulating. Now, it's not a surefire way to know if you're ovulating, but it is a helpful tool. But when you have an LH surge, what it does is the luteinizing hormone lutinizes or kind of like goes around the follicle that is holding the egg and it ruptures the follicle so that way the egg releases. And that's the main event. That is the egg releasing, and that is ovulation, and it's so cool. so after the egg releases, it starts traveling down and into the fallopian tube. that's for that's for other femme slides. but what happens with the follicle after the egg has left is it actually doesn't just go away and do nothing. It has a really important job. So the luteinizing hormone also does this job after it has luteinized that follicle so that it ruptures, it keeps lutinizing it so that it then transforms into sometimes they'll call it a cyst, but it it's just still a follicle. it's called the corpus luteum. And the corpus luteum is what produces progesterone. And so progesterone is this beautiful hormone that comes about in your luteal phase. And this hormone is what it sounds like it's for progesterone, like progestate, progestation. It's for a healthy pregnancy, it's for gestation, it's for pregnancy. Whether you are pregnant or not in that cycle, your body will make progesterone when your hormones are working healthfully. And that is what that hormone is for. that's one of the main purpose purposes it's for. It's also like all of these hormones here, like especially the estrogen and progesterone, they have a huge impact on our womanhood, on our motherhood, whether that be physical motherhood or spiritual motherhood. And and I'm being a daughter of Christ, these hormones have a huge, they they're a really big deal in terms of what the Lord has given to us in our ministries as woman for his kingdom. And so there's lots about that. We talk a lot about that inside of fertility framework and like what you know, what are signs of healthy estrogen, what are signs of healthy progesterone, what are signs of estrogen that's too high or too low, and what are signs of progesterone that is too low. So we learn about that inside of fertility framework and we also learn like, okay, well, what do I do about it if you know if these things are out of balance? So we do a lot of discussion about. nutrition and supplements and herbs and essential oils and hydration, lifestyle is huge, sleep is huge, exercise, all of those things literally make a huge difference for your hormones. I'm getting off track, but that's what progesterone is for. Okay, it's in that luneal phase, it's really important. you can kind of see it drops when you're not pregnant at the end of the cycle, and when it's dropping. That is what triggers your body to start another period. And so that's why when we're pregnant, we don't get a period because we should not have a drop in that in those hormones. if we have a miscarriage, unfortunately, there's going to be some kind of drop of progesterone. And a lot of times that can be what causes the hormones to to lower down. and And and it's it's like a really heavy period or it's like a loss or that's what your body feels like. And so it's a really terrible thing, but just from a hormonal standpoint, we can see what's happening there. okay, so four main sex hormones, FSH, estrogen, LH, and progesterone. Now let's talk about how many days are in a healthy ovulatory phase. So if you kind of look down here in this blue chart, we see these blue boxes. And here is shown six days. So ideally, we want to see like about four to six days of cervical mucus increasing in quantity and quality in that time period. And so when we're having this phase where we're having cervical mucus ongoing. that is what what when we're in that ovulatory phase. So for someone who's having cervical mucus, like literally all the time, like every day of recycle, that's not normal and that's not healthy. If you're someone who has like yellow, sticky, pasty something coming out of you all the time or at different points in your cycle, that's also not healthy. So when you learn FEM, when you learn these fertility awareness methods, you're Going to learn what does healthy cervical mucus look like? What does it look like when it's just starting? And what does it look like as it's continuing to increase? So that's kind of what we're looking for in a healthy ovulatory phase. Now, as far as a healthy luteal phase goes, you know, at the minimum, and when we're thinking of your luteal phase, we're thinking like the day after your peak day, which is typically the day after your last day of cervical mucus. So from that day on until the day before your next period, that's your luteal phase. And femme says nine to eighteen days. If you're working with femme medical management, they're gonna say 11 to 17 days. so having that longer luteal phase is really important because it gives the body plenty of time to have really high levels of progesterone for several days and staying up there before it were to drop. and and giving that giving the body sufficient levels of of that of that hormone is really important. And if we're having a really short luteal phase, that can be an indication that our progesterone is not rising and not having that big bell curve that we are hoping to have and needing to have for a healthy pregnancy or for a healthy ovulation as well. So so that's what we're looking for there. Now, when we're thinking of conception and like, well, how do I get pregnant? Like it seems so crazy complicated. It seems so hard. I'm having to go to all these doctors. I'm having to, you know, I've been told like it's unexplained, it's unidentifiable. you know, I should just do IUI or IBF, or I don't know why I had a miscarriage. Like, you're just getting a lot of like big question marks. And when you're getting big question marks, it just means that that person. They're probably not ill-intentioned, but they may just not be equipped to give you the tools and the answers that you are seeking. so it's it's it's very simple. God, God made it very simple for us to get pregnant. But remember, I say that with a lot of grace because we live in an extremely broken world with a lot of suffering. And our bodies, they have suffering. Okay. But ultimately, when our bodies are healthy, the simplicity of conceiving. We have three key players for conception. You've got to have healthy sperm from your sweet husband, a good egg from you, and cervical mucus from you. Those, when you have all three of those things, that's where a baby comes from. Okay, so good sperm, good egg, good mucus, and boom, there it is. There, there, there is where the healthy baby comes from. And so that's what all everything. that you're going through should be focused on those questions. In fertility framework, we do talk about your husband and we talk about, okay, guys, it actually is really important for the guy to to maybe do some stuff. You know, it takes three months for you, for him, to make some changes, to do some things to literally change the quality of the sperm and of your egg. So there are absolutely things you can do to impact the quality of The gifts that God has given you for life creation. And there's absolutely things you can do to improve your cervical mucus if it's not healthy. But in simplicity, that is where that's how healthy conceptions occur. Now, if one cycle is healthy, how long should it take to get pregnant if intercourse is properly timed? So there's that's a two-folded answer there. I think the statistics are like 30% of couples who learn a fertility awareness method that were struggling with conceiving get pregnant just by learning the fertility awareness method. They didn't even stop drinking pop or coke, y'all. Like they they just learned the fertility awareness method and they learned when they were fertile and when when it was time to have intercourse to conceive. So if you haven't learned that at all, boom. You know, that's that's a big one. You gotta learn that. It's it's it's a must. but secondary, what if what if a couple is like, no, I know we are having sex at the right time. I know we're doing it at the right time, but I'm not getting pregnant. And my doctor told me to wait a whole year until I go back to to figure out what's going on and and it and if I can get help. but guys, the the truth of the matter is. If intercourse is being timed properly and there's good sperm, good egg, good mucus, you should get pregnant that time. It is that basic and it's that simple in the wholeness of God's design. But again, if the hole is broken or if there's issues going on, of course, that's where we see. The suffering. That's where we see the long periods of not getting pregnant. It's where we see the irregular cycles. It's where we see ridiculous PMSing a week before your period and horrible periods. It's where we see getting pregnant and then losing the pregnancy. it's it's so real. So I'm trying to say this with a lot of with both grace and truth. Here is the truth. Here is the reality. This is what it should take to become pregnant. and it should be simple when we're healthy. It is simple when we're healthy. And the grace is we live in a broken world. And honestly, the sad part is there's a lot of unhealthiness in this broken world. And so that's where we see a lot of these problems going on. another question that I get often is if one has had a miscarriage, how many cycles should they consider charting before they try to conceive again? So a lot of people who come into fertility framework, they want to learn how to chart their cycle because and they also want to, you know, make changes to support their bodies for their future baby. so that's ultimately like what a lot of people Start fertility framework for. And I always encourage them. Learn how to chart and chart for three cycles. Chart for three cycles at least. And see how they're doing. you guys are able to book one-on-one calls with me. We can look at your charts, we can discuss them and discuss how they're looking, discuss how you're feeling, and discuss if it's like, my gosh, this looks amazing. Like, yes, Pray before the Lord and see if you are feeling affirmed on this. Or, ooh, sister, like this is really concerning to me. Maybe this part of your cycle or this part of your chart looks really concerning to me. And I would really want to see this resolved or improved before you guys try to get pregnant again. Because with this specific problem that I'm seeing on your chart or this specific thing, that's a higher risk for another miscarriage. If you've been through that before. You don't want to go through it again. If if there's anything that you can do, right? ultimately, we don't get to control our lives, we don't get to control our fertility, we don't get to control our children or the children that we want to have. That's that's not in our court. But what is in our court is being responsible partners with the Lord for our physical bodies and our spirits and our minds, for nourishing them and nurturing them to take good care of them in this world for the service of his kingdom and for the bringing of new life for the glory of him so so that's typically what i say if someone's had a miscarriage how many cycles should they consider before trying to conceive again so I just you know this kind of wraps up like the teaching part of tonight. and we have more information tomorrow that's going to be coming out. the information tomorrow is gonna go over okay, this is great. You've shown us some information about how to understand our cycle and our hormones, but like, what do we do about it? So I I'm gonna give you more fun, amazing information tomorrow on that, about like what are those natural things? We'll we'll dig a little bit deeper into that. but I just want you to sit back and really reflect, like, whoa. What does all of this mean? How does this impact my fertility journey? What's my initial reaction and response? and I want you to really reflect on it. and as we end tonight's class, I just kind of want to go into a really, really cool special because you, if you're listening to this, you are the very first, you're one of the very first people to hear it. I have closed down fertility framework for several months or for a couple months just to restructure some things. My heart behind the information that is in this program is like, my gosh, every single woman needs to take this course. Like you just need to. Like if you've if you had the standard sex ed in high school that is given to everyone and you've never really learned anything else in a formal way about your fertility and your body, you need to do this course with your husband. I promise you, it is going to literally change your life. His life and your children or your future children's lives. It it literally will. Inside of the course, you're gonna get that fertility awareness education with FEM. You're going to get all of the incredible hormone coaching that I've received as a hormone coach that we are commissioned to share with the world. And it's a beautiful way with In God's design to understand your hormones and how to support them naturally, and it's it's amazing. And then also in the program is a Bible study where we study women in the Bible and their fertility journeys and who handled it well and who did not, and how do we relate to them and what can we learn from them? That's honestly one of like like everybody loves all the physical stuff that they get to learn, but people's most favorite part is how much they grow spiritually in their faith and in this surrendering part of their fertility journey when they go through this course. so we've made some big changes, you guys. I have cut the price down on this program massively. So when you guys start it, it's I've done I've done big things, okay. The new this new special that for you guys, the program is $4.97, which is like a crazy, ridiculously affordable price for this. a lot of times if you're gonna go and get taught by a fertility awareness educator, it's five hundred bucks just to like do the fertility awareness education. And you get so much more than that inside of my program. So it's 497. You guys are gonna get 12 months access and a free coaching call with me. so it's a huge, it's a huge savings. It's a huge deal. you'll get plenty of time to go through it and It doesn't take that long. Like if you roll through it and spend a couple hours a week on it, you'll get through it in eight weeks. But a lot of people like to have a longer time frame. They've requested to have a longer time frame. And so they want to be able to go back to it and revisit things because there's tons of information in the course. It's so packed full. So and only for fertility framework students, you guys will have access to. book a one-on-one call with me. So you're gonna get a free coaching call to begin with. and then you can book more calls with me as you need to when you're a student in the program just to just to get that one-on-one support, which is really helpful. So that is being rolled out to you tonight. It is in the email. go check it out on the website, get started. the special is only lasting through this Friday. I really encourage you guys to get on it. And have fun and and get started. So let me just pray over you guys. Lord Jesus, we get hem before you and I thank you for today. I thank you for just this information that my sister is listening to and learning. and Holy Spirit, would you just prompt her to get started with fertility framework if that is where you are leading her? And if it's not, God, would you just continue to lead, love, and guide her and her husband in the steps that you are directing them? Lord, would you bless them? Would you keep them? Would you make your face shine upon them? Would you give them so much grace and perseverance in this season of difficulty? And pray these things in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen. All right, I'll see you guys tomorrow and hopefully inside a fertility framework.
