- 0:07If you're fighting the urge to texture, avoid an X first.
- 0:11That's exactly what they're hoping for.
- 0:14They broke up with you, or they pulled away, or they went silent
- 0:19and now they're waiting to see if you are going to be the one
- 0:23who breaks. Because the moment that you do,
- 0:27they don't have to be vulnerable, they don't have to
- 0:29risk getting rejected. They don't have to put
- 0:32themselves out there because you did it for them.
- 0:36And there are some powerful but subtle signs that tell you that
- 0:41they're waiting for you to reach out, even if, of course, they
- 0:44will never admit it. What are those signs?
- 0:47Stay tuned and you'll find out if you're new here.
- 0:50Hi, my name is Lucia. I'm a dating and relationship
- 0:53expert specializing in helping you get your ex back or to get
- 0:56over your ex. And if you're not new here then
- 0:59you are part of my no contact army.
- 1:02And thank you so much for being here again and I hope you've
- 1:04been a good little soldier and stayed in no contact.
- 1:08OK, so the first sign we have is controlled silence.
- 1:14So even though they dumped you or withdrew, they won't totally
- 1:18disappear. They might still be checking
- 1:21your status, responding slowly if for some reason you're in
- 1:25contact, watching your stories but not actually making a move.
- 1:31So they're leaving a door open. They're saying without saying
- 1:36it. Of course, if you really care,
- 1:38come find me. And I know that's painful and
- 1:43it's unfair, but you have to understand that disbehavior is
- 1:46coming from fear. They're afraid that if they
- 1:49reach out, they'll lose power or get rejected.
- 1:54So they wait in the hopes that you will make it safe to
- 1:57reconnect. The second sign is quiet
- 2:02testing. If they're waiting for you to
- 2:05come forward, they're not going to text and say I miss you.
- 2:10That's way too much vulnerability for an avoidant.
- 2:13So they test the waters quietly. They might view your stories
- 2:18like a post. Ask mutual friends about you or
- 2:22if they do text, it's going to be something casual, a meme out
- 2:25of nowhere all of a sudden something light enough to
- 2:28protect their pride. Bread crumbs are the avoidance
- 2:33version of reaching out without losing control.
- 2:37It's their way of saying I still care but I'm afraid to show it.
- 2:42And it's also their way of seeing if you will lean in
- 2:45first. The next sign is emotional echo.
- 2:52Now this means that they'll post places that you used to go to
- 2:55together, or share quotes about missing someone but needing
- 3:00space because avoidance don't usually talk about their
- 3:05feelings directly, so they act it out in coded ways, which you
- 3:10end up having to decipher. And that emotional echo?
- 3:16It means that they're still bonded to you, even if they're
- 3:18scared to express it openly. And if you react to it, then
- 3:22again, they have nothing to risk.
- 3:26And Speaking of risk, you don't risk anything.
- 3:29But you gain a lot by downloading my app, Silencio, to
- 3:34help you stay in no contact. And the link to that is
- 3:37underneath every single video and podcast.
- 3:40And while you're at it, you can also check out my book, which is
- 3:44available at nocontactsecrets.com where you
- 3:47can read 2 free chapters before you purchase the book.
- 3:51OK, the next sign we have is mirroring, which a lot of people
- 3:55have heard about. So this means that when you post
- 3:58something, they quickly post something with similar energy
- 4:02when you shift your tone and they shift it.
- 4:04There's some people don't realize that avoidance regulate
- 4:08connection through mirroring. So if they mirror you, it's a
- 4:13subconscious effort to stay connected while keeping the
- 4:17emotional risk low. And I've seen this a lot with my
- 4:19clients. They'll say, well, I posted at
- 4:21the beach, and Allison, they're posting at the beach.
- 4:24Well, I posted wearing a red shirt.
- 4:26No, they posted wearing a red shirt.
- 4:28It's like, yeah, I know. I see what they're up to.
- 4:30I see you. OK, so the next sign is one that
- 4:35confuses people a lot, and that is that they'll open up about
- 4:39something deep. Then you get excited and you
- 4:42think, oh, they're fine and letting me in.
- 4:45And then they pull away again. Why?
- 4:49Why? Because that was a subconscious
- 4:52test to see how reconnection with you would feel.
- 4:57So if your response soothes their fear, they'll feel closer.
- 5:01But when their fear of being vulnerable returns, they retreat
- 5:07again. And this isn't manipulation like
- 5:10most people assume. It's the internal battle of
- 5:14someone who wants love but doesn't fully trust it.
- 5:18And I know it's a pain in the neck to deal with someone like
- 5:20that, but in a way, you also have to feel sorry for them or
- 5:25have some compassion because imagine wanting love but not
- 5:29being able to trust it. I mean, I think that's pretty
- 5:31sad, actually. And finally, we have the I'm
- 5:35Fine performance. And that means that they post
- 5:39photos online, they focus on work, they act like everything's
- 5:43fine. And again, my clients will say,
- 5:46Oh my God, my ex is never coming back.
- 5:48They look like they're happy. I go, oh, please.
- 5:53It's all performative, right? Who believes what's on social
- 5:56media anymore? They're just making it look like
- 5:59they're having a great time. Meanwhile, they could be crying
- 6:01in their beer every night or whatever they drink, you know,
- 6:04because avoidance are masters of hiding discomfort with control.
- 6:08So they convince themselves they don't need anyone.
- 6:11But a lot of times, the more composed they appear, the more
- 6:15likely they're wrestling with thoughts of you.
- 6:17So that silence isn't about being indifferent, it's about,
- 6:21as usual, protection. So I know that dealing with an
- 6:24avoidance can feel like a chess game of emotional endurance.
- 6:28Like who's going to make the first move?
- 6:30They're hoping that you will blink first.
- 6:33Especially if they're used to anxious partners doing exactly
- 6:36that. Reaching out would validate
- 6:39their worth without them having to risk being rejected.
- 6:42So here's the thing. Just because they're waiting for
- 6:46you to reach out, it doesn't mean you should.
- 6:49Because if you always bridge the distance, then they never learn
- 6:54to cross that bridge themselves. Because if they know that if
- 6:58they pull away or break up with you, that you'll pursue, you'll
- 7:03fill in the gap, you'll carry the emotional weight, then they
- 7:08have no incentive to make a move.
- 7:10They have No Fear of loss. So if your goal is to change
- 7:14that dynamic, then you do not reach out.
- 7:17Not from anxiety, not from curiosity, not to test, not to
- 7:21prove strength. Because the moment that you
- 7:24relieve the pressure, you teach them that their silence actually
- 7:29works. And once that lesson is
- 7:32reinforced, it becomes very hard to undo.
- 7:36If they're waiting for you to blink first, the shift doesn't
- 7:40happen when you reach out, it happens when you don't break at
- 7:44all. The moment you stop regulating
- 7:48the relationship for them, the dynamic changes.
- 7:52So now I want to hear from you. Have you typically been the one
- 7:56to blink first to reach out when someone breaks up with you or
- 7:59pulls away? Please comment below and if you
