- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: We love it, guys.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, listen, quick note here.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna start seeing Jim business coach podcast.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: That is us.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: That is the built-in grow kind of rebrand.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: We've got Jim businesscoach.com.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: We've got a new studio, new YouTube channel coming out.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_02]: Totally changing the game, guys.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: We're kind of just evolving a little bit more.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to show you guys this little space.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_02]: We got this LED wall going up.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's so cool in that room Well host workshops here and stuff like that here at HQ in Hopefully sunny's got to let me come, but uh, hey listen guys Believe in congruency and what you sell and what you you know What you do to train yourself sometimes are not in alignment so
- 1:27[SPEAKER_02]: You ever heard that saying, do as I say, not as I do, right?
- 1:32[SPEAKER_02]: The government's pretty good at that.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Do as I say, not as I do, hypocritical in many natures.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_02]: This happens at your gym.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_02]: Think about the product that you put on the table for your clients to enjoy.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: The service you provide, the large group training, the metabolic conditioning, the cross
- 1:58[SPEAKER_02]: to your clients.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_02]: Then, how do you train yourself?
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: Do you do the same workouts that your clients are doing?
- 2:07[SPEAKER_02]: Or do you go somewhere else or train in your gym a different way in the off-hours for yourself?
- 2:16[SPEAKER_02]: And if they're not the same, why?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: So the question becomes,
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: This is better for me or this is better for them and this is better for me, right?
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if that's the best argument, right?
- 2:32[SPEAKER_02]: Don't we all believe human bodies work the same way?
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Unless you're in a lead athlete and you're training for a specific sport, we kind of all move the same and we all should be training the same.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: We believe in strength training.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: I train myself with typical strength and conditioning protocols.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: sets and wraps progressive overload phases body parts split sometimes full body other times but then you turn around you look in your gym is like well they're doing like metabolic conditioning every day where is the string training where is the
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: Typical strength, you know, it's strength and condition, protocol and a lot of time is not there.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_02]: And then you start wondering, like, wait a minute, if it's good enough for you, why are you giving the best product to your clients?
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's the question.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: And then you start to get in this conundrum.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, hey, what, you know what?
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I believe the best training is strength conditioning, protocol, but yet I'm giving metabolic conditioning to my clients.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, question is why?
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we talk about it all the time.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the belief, you nailed it with this is what I believe is the best for me.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: Are your, are your needs different than your clients walking in the door?
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: Are your needs, are your, is your body somehow different than the, the clients walk it to your door?
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: The answer is no, right?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: Do you still your clients want to lose fat game muscle, move better, get stronger?
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: Feel better, right?
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: Cool, do you want to build muscle, get leaner, you know, move better, feel better?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's the same thing.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: So why is the product that you deliver to your clients?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: Any different than the product that you consume yourself?
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: Now, there's going to be many people listening to this.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, yeah, I do the workouts with my clients.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: That is my work.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: And perfect.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: Good, you're in alignment.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: You believe,
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: your clients are getting the same in the best product because that's what you do yourself.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's what should happen.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: So like for us, we're strengthening conditioning based.
- 4:34[SPEAKER_02]: We're selling my private.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: We work at a racks.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they were rocking deadlifts today.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're waiting.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_02]: Big weights going on.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_02]: We're in strength phase right now.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: Set the five sets of five on a lot on a lot of the core movements.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's the same shit I was just doing this morning.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm training myself.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_02]: The clients get the same exact same strength and condition.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: We're in alignment, but where the problem arises is when you're off doing your strength and condition stuff, bodybuilding workouts, and your clients are doing boot camps.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're right back to the same question.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
- 5:15[SPEAKER_02]: So why don't you give your clients the best workout?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's really the question.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Or why not make that change now?
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: If you have been delivering something that you don't do any longer, that isn't the way you train yourself, what is preventing you from making a change, we always use the phrase, you reserve the right to change your mind.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: As new information comes across, as you've educated yourself,
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: become better from when it comes to programming and the understanding of what it takes to make the body change all of that stuff.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: If you're making changes in your own personal workouts and you're not doing that for your clients.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: There's something wrong, right?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Your clients come to you because you are the resident expert.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_00]: You're the person that they've anointed to deliver them.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: The best result possible for what they're looking for.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: And like you said, it's building strength.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's moving better.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's burning fat along with it.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Quality of movement, all of it.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_00]: But then you're providing a service that maybe checks one of those boxes.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: why.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: And you as the owner, I mean, you have the choice.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: You can absolutely change the model, bring something different.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the point of our episode is there's almost like an obligation to your clients that you do so.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: Because if you believe that this is the best, and then you you're delivering something that you don't believe is the best, why?
- 6:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: And if the answers
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: that's irrelevant.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_02]: There's no obligation to stay the same forever.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: In fact, the best businesses evolve.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_02]: You should evolve.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: Look at, look at the businesses that don't evolve.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_02]: I could throw two of them at you right now.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_02]: Blackberry didn't end evolve and Blackbuster didn't end evolve.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: Think about that for a second, the delivery of what they were giving their product to the end user.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: At the time, they believe it was the best as they learn more information or a technology change.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_02]: They are no longer.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be the same thing for your gym guys.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: If you're offering a metabolic, all-in-one solution, wad style,
- 7:25[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody does the same thing kind of work out.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I guess what, the times you're changing, the client is getting smarter.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_02]: They can tell that the guy across the room and them aren't the same and they're doing the same as I work out as each other, scaled the same, whereas with strength and condition, you'd be very, very customized and specific to the client.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're gonna be no longer.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you're going to continue to struggle.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: And it's going to be very very very if it's not already like I'm sure you guys are struggling to get clients.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody seems to be right now And you're not in the middle of the keep them.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: They're gonna go find another solution.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be guy down the street that jumped on board now and changed their model to a strength Conditioning based personal training based semi-private training gym That your clients.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's the next level for your clients and the other thing I'll tell you is the next
- 8:21[SPEAKER_02]: I guess progression of the, what's the word I'm looking for?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: A client that's in metabolic condition gets to a point where they've plateaued.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: They've lost all the fact they're going to lose in that style of work out.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: They're, they're muscular endurance is where it's at.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have strength, per se.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: They don't have it.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_02]: Where's the next place they're going to go get that?
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it's going to be the guy down the street that offers that strength in conditioning program that you don't.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_02]: that they're gonna go because that's the next thing for them.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: They want to build muscle, get stronger.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_02]: They've already got their endurance where it needs to be.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get some muscle mass on it.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: And you can't do that with the bodyweight burpees and kettlebell swings that you're doing.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and you're making a great point.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it goes back to the whole skate where the puck is going, right?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: The writing's on the wall, if you personally believe that how you train yourself is better than the way that you're providing for your clients and it is in the strength format.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: All of those things are telling you, you have to evolve, you have to adopt, you have to find the way to make the new thing, the new direction.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's where your work comes into play, right?
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you agree that this is a better method, if you agree that your clients are going to get results, if you agree that
- 9:34[SPEAKER_00]: your clients that are in group training won't, you know, they're reaching those plateaus and the only thing that is going to get them additional results in the future is going to be strength training, your obligation to your business and your clients through there is to find a way to deliver that service.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: is to do what it's going to take to bring in a strange training component in the business.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: That is your homework.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: That is the work that you have to do from this point forward if you want to evolve.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: If you want to continue to be relevant when we talk about the stats all the time, the writing is on the wall.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: Client you're looking for something different.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you continue to do what you've done forever, you're going to continue to get diminishing results.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_02]: So now's the time.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: You got the opportunity.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: We're coming towards your end.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: It might as well jump on board and get this thing right for the next year.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys do need help, go to gymbusinesscoach.com.
