- Cindy Marler: Have you ever thought about bad words? What's considered a bad word? Sometimes I think it's so funny how we consider something, ooh, that's a bad word. When who decided that? Who decided this was a bad word? Who decided that was a bad word? How often does that change, you know, in our language? Well, one of the things in my home that is definitely a bad word in my home that is not a bad word, probably in most people's homes, is that's right. A sound. Is a bad word in my house. And not the kind of when you see the cutest little baby or a puppy or little baby ducklings falling there, that mom. Here's a difference. That is aww. The kind of that's a bad word in my house is aww. You know the difference, don't you? The that's whining or complaining or feeling sorry for ourselves. Yep, in my house, that is a bad word for any of us. We don't use it. I don't allow it to be said in my house because feeling sorry for ourselves doesn't help anything. We could all feel sorry for ourselves. There's so much to feel sorry for ourselves about. And saying, awww, is just confirming to us that feeling sorry for ourselves is okay. When there's always someone, there's this book I used to read the kids when they were young called It Could Have Been Worse. It was so cute. It's a picture book about animals and they're scurrying across a field and They trip over something and they're like, no, I tripped over something. But then what they didn't realize is because they tripped, there was an animal that was about to eat them, that then missed them. The point being it could always be worse. And while we don't want to get stuck in it could always be worse, that mentality either, because then you could be like, well, what, how bad would it have to be for me to pity myself? The difference between feeling sorry for ourselves and pitying ourselves and needing to grieve a reality is different. If you need to grieve something that was hard, grieve it. Don't feel sorry for yourself. Don't pity yourself. Grief is healthy. Pity or feeling sorry for yourself not. So, what are the bad words in your house that maybe aren't common? And what do you need to make bad words in your house? Because the bad words don't just have to be the F-word. You can make bad words in your house, any words that don't serve you or fill your mind with true and noble and pure and right and lovely things, like Philippians 4:8 tells us. So for just for today, We're gonna think about what are some bad words we need to put in our house. Not just that F one, other ones too. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
