Transcript
- 0:02The life of a beautiful 18 year old Florida girl was taken
- 0:09earlier this month, of all places, on a Carnival cruise
- 0:14line while she was cruising the Caribbean with her family.
- 0:19This has been a lot of stuff has been swirling around online
- 0:25about this case, but now we're actually starting to get some
- 0:28documentation on it and we're going to dig into it tonight.
- 0:44This video contains mature themes and discussions intended
- 0:47only for adult audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
- 0:54Hello there, my friend, and welcome back to another true
- 0:56crime conversation with me. My name is Gavin Fish and on my
- 0:59channel we just love cutting through the fluff and the
- 1:02sensationalism and true crime. We like to cut right to the
- 1:05nitty gritty. We like documents, we like good,
- 1:09solid reporting and that's what we're going to get into tonight.
- 1:12Before we do. Hey, over in the live chat, tell
- 1:16me where you are viewing from. I don't know.
- 1:19I just get a kick out of it. I know my analytics, my
- 1:22analytics tell me where where everybody views from, but I just
- 1:28I don't know, I just like it. Plus it gets it gets the live
- 1:31chat going and as and we pride ourselves around here with
- 1:35having the very, very best live chat in all of true crime.
- 1:41Now, of course, tonight we are talking about the death of Anna
- 1:47Kepner again, an 18 year old teenager, a senior in high
- 1:52school from the, you know, the space side of Florida.
- 2:00And her body was, was found in her room.
- 2:07And we're going to get into some of those some of those details
- 2:11which are just grisly and gruesome.
- 2:13And I'm, I just feel so sorry. I feel so sorry for this poor
- 2:19girl for the last moments of her life, which must have just been
- 2:24violent and terrifying and horrifying.
- 2:28And I think, I think all of us can can feel that right?
- 2:32Oh, just just must have been horrifying.
- 2:38It kind of seems like her life was kind of tough going into the
- 2:42last day of her life. It does seem like she was a good
- 2:46kid that was trying to overcome some some hardships.
- 2:50But before we really get into that, I want to make a couple of
- 2:52announcements on the channel. The first one is an announcement
- 2:58that I make almost every single night.
- 3:00It is that you are always welcome to join us on the Fish
- 3:05Tank on Facebook. If you're on Facebook, join us
- 3:09on the fish tank. It's where we like to hang out.
- 3:13I saw this today. I thought it was so awesome.
- 3:16This sticker. Don't be an armadill hole.
- 3:19We we're fans of the word dill hole on this channel.
- 3:23I don't have any water in there. Hold on.
- 3:26So please do join us over on the fish tank.
- 3:29It is a growing community. We're, I think we're coming up
- 3:31on 5800 people in the tank, which is pretty awesome.
- 3:35Also, if you have any experience in being an administrator or
- 3:41moderator of a, I'm sorry, a Facebook group, please hit me up
- 3:48on my website, gavinfish.com. There's always a link down
- 3:50below. If you click on this little
- 3:53icon, the little what is that an envelope up in the upper corner.
- 3:57You can reach out to me. You can just fill out the form.
- 4:00It it's I would just choose. I'd like to volunteer and and
- 4:05send me your information. I'm I'm on the lookout for a new
- 4:09admin. Ever since Pat left us, we've
- 4:12kind of been like she left me in charge.
- 4:16That is a horrible idea. We need somebody who can take
- 4:20control of the fish tank. And I would love, love, love any
- 4:24help. OK.
- 4:25The second thing that I want to tell you about is I'm actually
- 4:30making a change here at the channel on Speaking of analytics
- 4:36on December 1st, I think it'll be December 1st.
- 4:40I should, should have looked at a yeah, December 1st, which is a
- 4:44Monday, perfect, which is a Monday.
- 4:48The 1st Monday of December, we are going to be changing our
- 4:53normally scheduled time for our live streams.
- 4:58It is going to move forward a little bit.
- 5:01Rather than starting at 7:30, it is going to start at 6:00 PM.
- 5:05Now let me tell you why I'm making this change.
- 5:07Number one, I kind of have to miss out on the nightly routine
- 5:15of getting the kiddos ready for bed and all that stuff.
- 5:19My wife has to do all the heavy lifting there because we are
- 5:23here live streaming and our kids go to bed early.
- 5:27We've one of the funnest things about our youngest son is he
- 5:30loves bedtime. Like he's always begging can I
- 5:35go to bed and he has since he could even just start since he
- 5:40started communicating with us. So we tend to do that right
- 5:43around 8:30 and and after the show ends 8/30 9:00.
- 5:48But after the show ends, I've got a whole bunch more work to
- 5:51do. So moving it forward is going to
- 5:54help me and my family life a lot, for which I thank you all.
- 5:58Thank you #2 In looking at my analytics, it tells me what
- 6:06shows people like to watch. Like if I look at my audience
- 6:10here, it tells me what shows, what channels people like to
- 6:13watch. And not surprisingly, you know
- 6:16what the top, let's say the top 4, Brian and Grizzly Surviving
- 6:23the Survivor and a newcomer to my audience.
- 6:28Well, at least to me it's not he's not a newcomer is Courtroom
- 6:32Confidential. And I talked with both Joel at
- 6:37Surviving the Survivor and Joshua Ritter over at Courtroom
- 6:40Confidential. The Ritter's usually start about
- 6:438:00 PM Eastern and Joel starts about 7:00 PM Eastern.
- 6:47And so I'm going to start at 6:00 PM Eastern so that all
- 6:53y'all that want to see our live streams just boom, boom, boom.
- 6:56You can do it. You don't have to choose between
- 6:59me and Joel anymore. So that is why I am doing that.
- 7:05And I hope that that is something that you guys will be
- 7:08OK with. So yes, Scotch mom asks. 6
- 7:12Eastern. Yes, yes, yes.
- 7:14It is indeed going to be 6 Eastern.
- 7:21What is Gavin is drowning. I am I am drowning I am drowning
- 7:26in the tank. I can't I can't keep up.
- 7:29Pat did such a good job of of keeping the discussions going
- 7:33and alive and awesome and without her.
- 7:39I'm floundering yes, so that's that's those are my 2
- 7:44announcements 1 I really need help in the fish tank and two
- 7:48going to be moving to 6:00 PM Eastern starting December 1st.
- 7:55OK, let's see where all y'all's from all's y'all's let's see
- 8:05watching from Portland OR Jacksonville, FL Newcastle,
- 8:09Australia. Now that is a name in Australia
- 8:12that I believe actually exists. Irvine, CA down in the OC
- 8:18Mountain Home AR Sun City, CA Kansas City, MO Boston, MA
- 8:28Leander, TX. I hope I said that correctly.
- 8:32Norton, VA. Suburbs of Sacramento.
- 8:36Beni 916. I was raised in the suburbs of
- 8:40Sacramento. All of our children were born in
- 8:43the suburbs of Sacramento. My wife was born and raised in
- 8:46the suburbs of Sacramento. So welcome to Benny.
- 8:50Good to see a fellow Sacramentan there Colorado in the house.
- 8:56Dina Lucas says you guys aren't far from each other.
- 8:59That's pretty cool. LB Hammer time is in a bar in
- 9:02Indiana while her husband plays poker or his husband.
- 9:06I can't her looks like anything else.
- 9:11Let's see. Yeah I wanted to make sure North
- 9:15Carolina in the house money of course from Virginia in the
- 9:18house. Good to see you all OK and then
- 9:22I skipped over a couple of comments.
- 9:26Shay 7036 says that she hopes that we had a fantastic
- 9:30anniversary. We we did have a very happy
- 9:31anniversary. And you know what was what was
- 9:34fun? We went to get some Thai
- 9:36cuisine, which my wife has never had.
- 9:40She had, I don't know, I, I eat a lot of Asian food.
- 9:47I love Asian food. I love Chinese food.
- 9:50I love with Japanese food. I love teriyaki.
- 9:53I love Vietnamese food. I love pho.
- 9:55I love, I, I love it all. I love Thai, Thai food.
- 10:00Kimberly is a little more apprehensive about Asian
- 10:03cuisine, and so she's never done Thai, but she, well, it was my
- 10:11choice because this date night this week was my choice.
- 10:14And so I said, I know you're going to love it.
- 10:17She, she kept thinking we're going to get Chinese food she
- 10:20doesn't want. She doesn't like Chinese food.
- 10:22It's, you know, had I known that before we got married, I would
- 10:25have second guessed. I would have gone through with
- 10:27it and it would have been fine. There were two things Kimberly
- 10:32does not like Chinese food and she gets motion sick.
- 10:36And so when I took her on our first date and we went flying,
- 10:39that did not go well. Yeah.
- 10:42Anyway, we had a very happy anniversary and I also want to
- 10:46say a happy belated anniversary to my friends Matt and Stacy
- 10:51back in Sacramento who have who share our anniversary.
- 10:54November 19th. They were celebrating big #20
- 10:59and I am very, very happy for them and love them deeply.
- 11:02So I wanted to give that. Let's see, we got Saginaw MI
- 11:07Michigan in the House. I missed that, missed that.
- 11:12Rose red international waters. Which country prosecutes United
- 11:16States. This one will be a federal case.
- 11:20OK All right. So we have gone through all of
- 11:26we've done the intro, we've done the announcements.
- 11:28What comes next? What do we do next?
- 11:30Everybody, you know, let's get to headlines, true crime
- 11:39headlines, POW, OK, true crime headlines.
- 11:45There a couple things that I wanted to catch us up on because
- 11:49these are cases that we have been following.
- 11:52Tomorrow night, by the way, which is Friday night, November
- 11:5621st, we will be doing our weekly wrap up, our roundup, our
- 12:01recap, whatever we call it. So we'll be talking about a lot
- 12:05of these cases in detail, but just a couple of updates here.
- 12:10Number one, whoever killed and dismembered Celeste Rivas
- 12:15Hernandez likely had help. This comes to us from KTLA.
- 12:20Rising R&B star David is being viewed viewed as a suspect in
- 12:25the death of a 14 year old girl whose body was found dismembered
- 12:29in a vehicle linked to the singer, law enforcement
- 12:31confirmed to KTLA. But reporting from TMZ indicates
- 12:36that he might not be the only person on police radar.
- 12:39TMZ was the first to report that the 20 year old artist, whose
- 12:43real name is David Anthony Burke, was being views viewed as
- 12:46a suspect in the death of Celeste, whose body was found in
- 12:50the front trunk of the Tesla. The outlet also reports, citing
- 12:54law enforcement sources, that police are looking into the
- 12:57possibility that someone, Burke or another killer may have had
- 13:02accomplices who helped dispose of Rivas's body.
- 13:07And you can you, I mean, we're going to talk about this
- 13:11tomorrow. But one of the things that has
- 13:12also come up is the idea that she probably was dead in the
- 13:16spring. She was last seen in April, from
- 13:20the reporting that I have read. So she may have been in that car
- 13:25from April or May all the way till early September when her
- 13:30body was recovered. So we've got David as a suspect,
- 13:35we possibly there he had accomplices and well, allegedly,
- 13:43and she may have been in that car for so, so, so, so, so long.
- 13:49So that's a quick headline there.
- 13:52Now. Headline #2 since we're
- 13:53following it, the Brian Walsh case, full jury has been seated
- 13:58in Brian Walsh's murder. This is brought to us by Boston
- 14:0225 News staff, Dateline, Dedham, Mass.
- 14:06A full jury has been selected in the murder trial of Brian Walsh,
- 14:10a South Shore man who was accused of killing his wife.
- 14:12Following three days of jury selection, a full set of jurors
- 14:16has now been seated. This is actually surprising to
- 14:18me because Judge I How do we say her name, Frieri or something
- 14:25like that I can't remember, indicated in the hearing that it
- 14:29might take as long as two weeks, but nay, after three days of
- 14:36jury selection, they have found a jury.
- 14:39I guess that voidir doesn't all wasn't all that difficult after
- 14:43all. Continuing the story On the
- 14:45first day of jury selection, nine of the 16 jurors needed for
- 14:48the trial were seated. As of Wednesday afternoon, 12
- 14:51jurors had been seated. This.
- 14:55The proceedings will now focus on whether Wash Walsh is guilty
- 14:58of murder. Walsh is charged in the murder
- 15:00of his missing wife, Anna. I can bring up a photo of her
- 15:04right here over New Year's 2023. Her body has never been found.
- 15:13Course, you guys remember that he pleaded guilty to two of the
- 15:19three counts. One was having to do with the
- 15:22improper disposal of human remains and the other was lying
- 15:25to her misleading police. He will, according to Josh
- 15:30Ritter anyway. You know, I mean, he's he's
- 15:32looking about probably about 10 years in prison just for those.
- 15:37That's what I think anyway. I can't.
- 15:40I think Josh said that, but now I'm second guessing.
- 15:42I don't want to attribute to him something that he didn't say.
- 15:46But yeah, I mean, he's already going to prison for a good long
- 15:49time. Now it's a matter of will it be
- 15:52life and we don't know. Testimony is expected to begin
- 15:56on December 1st, according to 25 or Boston 25.
- 16:03All right, next thing that we have missed because of my
- 16:07schedule with our anniversary, I wanted to bring you guys up to
- 16:10date on real quick is that Kada Scott's family has launched a
- 16:13foundation on what would have been her 24th birthday, which
- 16:16was 2 days ago. Dateline Philly.
- 16:22This is coming to us from six ABC WPVI, the ABC affiliate in
- 16:27Philadelphia, as prosecutors continue to lay the groundwork
- 16:30for a case against a man accused of killing Kada Scott.
- 16:34Let's, let's bring up photo of Kayla here.
- 16:42Her family's left to pick up the pieces.
- 16:44Tuesday would have been Scott's 24th birthday.
- 16:47Oh, Oh my goodness. Now that was.
- 16:51Do you guys remember? I, I don't know.
- 16:54I would imagine based on my analytics and the fact that I
- 16:56pull with old ladies for some reason, always have.
- 16:59I just, I just have lots of pull with old ladies.
- 17:02Anyway, I would imagine that all of you are of a certain age that
- 17:06is equal to or similar to mine. So do you remember when you were
- 17:1124 years old? 2324 I got engaged to my snuggly
- 17:19Bear, my sweetie pie, my one and only Kimberly Fish, the former
- 17:23Kimberly Compton when we were 23 and we were married just a month
- 17:29after we both turned 24. Less than a month.
- 17:32That was more for me, less for her.
- 17:34For like 25 glorious days I'm married to a younger woman and
- 17:39then she catches up. But think about Kada Scott and
- 17:43what she could be doing with her young life full of possibilities
- 17:51ahead of her, with what could perhaps just be a life of just
- 17:57wonder and beauty for her and all around her and her.
- 18:01Her life was cut down with a bullet to the head, police
- 18:07believe, done by this man Keon King.
- 18:11But can you just imagine 23 guys too, too, too early.
- 18:20It happens as the family's still trying.
- 18:24Oh, sorry. Tuesday would have been her 24th
- 18:25birthday. Her family is marking the day by
- 18:27launching a foundation in her honor, continues the article.
- 18:31It happens as the family's still trying to make sense of the
- 18:33tragedy. Quote in the middle of the night
- 18:35thinking about her. Yeah, it's been tough, said
- 18:37Kevin Scott, Kada's father. To be honest, I'm not good.
- 18:43I'm not good. My daughter's not here anymore.
- 18:48You know, I got a letter to an e-mail today from my dad's baby
- 18:56sister, Maya Kath, who is like 92,000 different kinds of
- 19:02awesome. She is the best.
- 19:04And one of the things that she's really good at is
- 19:08correspondence. She takes after her mother, my
- 19:10grandmother. She's a very good correspondent
- 19:14and while we live on and have always lived in on different
- 19:19sides of the country, I might have that might be the closest
- 19:26relationship I have with any of my aunts and uncles.
- 19:28I just love her to death. Anyway, she was responding to
- 19:33kind of how I'd I've been feeling lately.
- 19:36Very nostalgic, very melancholy, to be honest.
- 19:44You know, just you guys know, but talk to me.
- 19:48She talked to me in that letter about what was referred to as
- 19:53his melancholia, him being Abraham Lincoln.
- 19:57I did not know that Abraham Lincoln was a was a depressed
- 20:04person. He had had lots of tragedy in
- 20:08his life. Of course, his life ended
- 20:10tragically as well. Very similar to Miss Scott's and
- 20:18then, you know, he lost friends. He lost, he just, he was prone
- 20:23to what he called melancholia. I am going to, I'm, I'm going to
- 20:27actually get a, get a biography. I'd love to read it.
- 20:31My dad has a little signed Abraham Lincoln autobiography.
- 20:36That book is about the size of my phone and maybe about that
- 20:41thick. And it's an autobiography of
- 20:43Abraham Lincoln signed by Abraham Lincoln.
- 20:45He has that in his collection. Maybe I would, maybe I would
- 20:50start by borrowing that. No, not start.
- 20:53I'm going to be back in California next year.
- 20:54Maybe I'll just read it then. But anyway, Kay, to Scott's dad,
- 20:59He's not OK. And it's OK to not be OK,
- 21:04especially in light of the fact that his daughter was so
- 21:10violently taken from him. So I pray for this family and
- 21:16hopefully we can make a difference by keeping her name
- 21:21alive, keeping her name out there.
- 21:23I'm looking forward to seeing what the Foundation does.
- 21:30I don't think, oh, here it is, here it is.
- 21:34The Kada Scott Foundation will provide scholarships, grants and
- 21:36mentors for girls who have oh, this is beautiful.
- 21:41The Kada Scott Foundation will provide scholarships, grants,
- 21:45and mentors for girls who have the same type of positivity and
- 21:49ambition Kada had before she became the victim of a heinous
- 21:54crime. That is beautiful because
- 22:00there's nothing in this world that we want to support more
- 22:04than positivity and ambition and little girls, right?
- 22:09That's a that is a terrific mission for the Kada Scott
- 22:13Foundation. I congratulate them.
- 22:16I hope that I might be able to help the foundation.
- 22:19Let's see if it has any. Kada Scott's family now wants to
- 22:24grow the legacy their daughter started.
- 22:26It's 1 based on creativity, ambition and kindness.
- 22:29Those are the three words written on a hoodie that Kevin
- 22:32Scott designed in honor of his daughter.
- 22:33The hoodie also features a Letterman style K representing
- 22:38Kata's name. Does it have a link?
- 22:41Yeah. OK.
- 22:43The Kata Scott Foundation will be launching soon.
- 22:46So we'll, we're going to keep an eye on that guys.
- 22:48And I that's I just, I congratulate that family.
- 22:52That is such a difficult situation to be in and they are
- 22:57handling it with grace and standing as shining beacons of
- 23:02what we all should want to be in so many different ways.
- 23:08So thank you very much. Scott Found Scott Family and the
- 23:13Foundation for setting that example for the rest of us.
- 23:16OK, last headline comes to us from Crime Cod.
- 23:21Connecticut police charged 3 after remains of 12 year old
- 23:24girl found stuffed into plastic bin.
- 23:27This is from Kate Byrd top line Court records detail starvation
- 23:31and restraint before the girl's death.
- 23:33Suspects held on multi $1,000,000 bonds.
- 23:37Let's zoom up so you guys can see this.
- 23:39Here are three winners. Man, that guy Jonathan Anita, he
- 23:46got, he got into a fight, didn't he?
- 23:49OK. New Britain, CT A 12 year old
- 23:52Connecticut girl died from abuse and starvation, and authorities
- 23:55found her remains in a plastic container.
- 23:58Her mother, aunt and the mother's former boyfriend now
- 24:03face murder charges. Why can't we just take care of
- 24:06one another? Oh my goodness.
- 24:10Authorities determined that remains found in a plastic bin
- 24:13at an abandoned house belonged to Jacqueline Mimi Torres
- 24:17Garcia, dead for nearly a year. Police arrested Carla Garcia,
- 24:22Jacqueline Garcia and Jonathan JoJo Nanita soon after.
- 24:27In mid-october, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled
- 24:31the child's cause of death as fatal child abuse with
- 24:34starvation. The manner of death was ruled a
- 24:37homicide. Oh my goodness.
- 24:42Investigators believe the girl died in the fall of 2024 when
- 24:45her family lived in Farmington. The young girl was never
- 24:48reported missing. 12 years old, 12 years old.
- 24:58I've got a 12 year old. We just, we just ordered glasses
- 25:03for him. And I love those little things,
- 25:05guys. I love those little things,
- 25:08those little like, I don't know, just everyday tasks that you
- 25:12have to do for, for and with your children or because of your
- 25:17children. I just love.
- 25:19And this little girl was like in the middle of it.
- 25:23Ah. The girl weighed only 26 to 27
- 25:29lbs at the time of her death, according to an affidavit
- 25:33reviewed by PEOPLE. She was often restrained with
- 25:36zip ties, police allege. Well, let's get these photos in
- 25:40front of everybody. Can you believe that?
- 25:47We'll keep an eye on it. You know, I'm sorry.
- 25:52That one brought me down. I need some, like, transition
- 25:55music. I got to prepare some transition
- 25:57music. Do I?
- 25:58Do I have anything? Hang on, do I have anything that
- 26:00we could use? Let's see No, no, not that one.
- 26:15I probably blew out your eardrums on that.
- 26:17Sorry. I need.
- 26:17I just needed transition music. That what?
- 26:20Wow, wow. I should have ended with the K
- 26:24to Scott Foundation thing. Goodness sake.
- 26:28All right, those are our headlines.
- 26:30Let's get out of our system. True crime headlines.
- 26:42All right? OK, let's see if you guys have
- 26:46anything that you want to say to me, Matthew.
- 26:53Matthew says, I know you haven't talked about Anna's case yet.
- 26:58I've always wanted to go on to cruise, but I have a great fear
- 27:00of heights and I fear deep waters.
- 27:02Maybe a cruise is not for you. However, I will say this, I've
- 27:05only been on one. It was our honeymoon and it was
- 27:07one of those really, really short, like 3 or 4 day cruises
- 27:10from Los Angeles down to like Ensenada, Mexico and back.
- 27:15We were young, we were broke, it was perfect, we loved it.
- 27:20Now, I'm not one that is fearful of heights or of deep water.
- 27:24However, like I never felt, never never felt particularly
- 27:31high nor well, it was our honeymoon.
- 27:35We were indoors most of the time.
- 27:40That is funny, but so many fun things to do on a cruise.
- 27:43Don't let this get you down. Definitely, definitely,
- 27:47definitely do that. If that's something you want to
- 27:49do. You can overcome your fears.
- 27:52OK, let's and remember, if you want to get my attention in the
- 27:59in the live chat, just put GF in your comment.
- 28:01OK, let's turn our attention now.
- 28:05Where do we want? Where do I want to start with
- 28:07this? Let's let's bring up Anna's
- 28:11photo here and I think the best place to start.
- 28:23Yeah, let I think the best place to place to start is over here
- 28:27on Acrobat with this story from yesterday.
- 28:30This is ABC News, OK, Now basically, well, it'll, it'll
- 28:35tell us. I, I don't want to give you guys
- 28:38a rundown of the case when this is going to give us the rundown,
- 28:41OK. And actually, you know what I
- 28:45think? Let me mute this tab.
- 28:48The family of an 18 year old girl.
- 28:50This is an article. If I bring this one up, this one
- 28:53is an article from the day after.
- 28:56OK, So what is this, the 9th? The family of 18 year old Anna
- 29:01Kepner, who was reported dead while aboard the Carnival
- 29:04Horizon cruise ship on Saturday, says they will remember her as a
- 29:06happy, bubbly, straight A student with a bright future
- 29:10ahead. Anna, who was set to graduate
- 29:12from high school in May, was traveling aboard the ship on a
- 29:15route from Miami to the Caribbean when she died.
- 29:19Details surrounding her death have not been released.
- 29:22The ship returned to Miami on Saturday, where the FBI has
- 29:25since opened an investigation into her death.
- 29:30Quote when she walked in the room, she would light it up, her
- 29:32family told ABC News. If you were sad, she'd make you
- 29:35laugh. She would joke around and be the
- 29:37funniest little person in school.
- 29:40So there wasn't much information at this point, but as of this
- 29:46next article, there's a bit more and let's get into it.
- 29:50A new twist as FBI investigates teen's death on crew.
- 29:55OK, that's, I don't know, I think that was the photo
- 30:02caption. OK.
- 30:03Anna Kepner, a teen who died aboard a Carnival Horizon cruise
- 30:07ship earlier this month, was found dead under a bed, wrapped
- 30:10in a blanket and covered by life vests, according to a security
- 30:14source briefed on the investigation.
- 30:16Guys, why would you stuff her under a bed, wrap her in a
- 30:22blanket and cover her with life vests unless you wanted to hide
- 30:26the fact that she was dead? Now that's like, that's obvious
- 30:33Ville here, right? Like, I'm Captain Obvious here
- 30:36for sure, but it again, this goes to consciousness of guilt,
- 30:43right? If if there was an accidental
- 30:46death, if it was an accident, I don't think the perpetrator
- 30:53would have gone to the trouble of trying to hide it.
- 30:55Hiding a body means consciousness of guilt, plain
- 31:02and simple. The 18 year old cheerleader from
- 31:05Titusville, FL was reported dead while aboard at the Carnival
- 31:08Horizon cruise ship on November 8th.
- 31:11The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner is not specified A cause or
- 31:14manner of death. This was written yesterday and
- 31:20I've been looking I, I have not seen a cause or manner yet, but
- 31:24if you guys have let me know. Among the avenues investigators
- 31:28are looking at is whether there might have been some sort of
- 31:30altercation with her stepbrother prior to her death, a source
- 31:34told ABC News. Investigators are also looking
- 31:38at other possibilities, including a medical emergency or
- 31:41an overdose, The the source said.
- 31:44Yeah, if there's an overdose, why hide the body?
- 31:49Well, maybe you're the person who delivered the drugs.
- 31:55Well, no, When toxicology comes back, I guess more about that.
- 31:58Investigators are pouring over ship security records, including
- 32:02security camera footage and access card swipes to get a
- 32:05picture of who was where at the various times prior to her
- 32:08death, the source said, A court filing in an unrelated family
- 32:12matter. We're going to get into this.
- 32:15Notice Kepner's step sidling could face charges.
- 32:18Now. I want to just address something
- 32:21right now. This is a 16 year old boy.
- 32:25I am not going to identify him, not on purpose anyway, nor am I
- 32:29going to show any photos of him. He's a juvenile.
- 32:32We're going to, we're going to do the no pictures of juveniles
- 32:36rule. We will, however, share photos
- 32:39of our victim because we need to remember that this is not a case
- 32:44like all our cases. This is not a case about the
- 32:47perpetrator. It is a case about the victim.
- 32:50OK. The filing said the FBI is
- 32:55conducting an investigation arising out of the sudden death
- 32:57of 18 year old Anna Kepner. Now, I want to thank one of my
- 33:01volunteers for helping me find these documents.
- 33:06These are the documents that are being referred to in that story.
- 33:12And I let's see, did I bring? I don't think I did.
- 33:21I had another story prepared, but I I think before we get into
- 33:26these documents, maybe what we should do is head on over to a
- 33:30couple of they're just a couple of like short one or two-minute
- 33:34media reports that I want to show you.
- 33:37This first one comes out of WESH Channel 2.
- 33:44This this was reported today. All right, let's go ahead and
- 33:50have a listen. Hopefully this won't blur your
- 33:52eardrums. I didn't.
- 33:54I didn't bump up the volume, so I'm sorry if you can't hear it
- 33:56either. Here we go.
- 33:59This morning we're now hearing from the biological mother of
- 34:02Anna Kepner, the 18 year old who died on a cruise ship.
- 34:05Court documents show Anna's stepbrother could be a suspect
- 34:08in her death. And washes.
- 34:10Bob Hazen is live in Titusville. Bob.
- 34:12And we're going to get into those documents.
- 34:13Obviously community will come together today to remember Anna.
- 34:19That'll happen at 5:00 tonight here at the Grove Church in
- 34:23Titusville. This is a place to end.
- 34:24It went to youth group and there's a lot of people in this
- 34:27community and really around the nation that are grieving her
- 34:30loss. That includes her birth mom, who
- 34:32talked to WESH 2 over the phone last night.
- 34:36I found out through Google because I ended up Googling it
- 34:40because all the information I went the only information I had
- 34:43was my daughter was on a cruise. You know what, let me just pause
- 34:47that for a second. I, I think this is a signal that
- 34:50there is very like almost no indication and no communication
- 34:54between and Anna's parents who are divorced or I don't know if
- 35:02they're divorced, if they were ever married, but they are not
- 35:04together, right? And I think she goes on to tell
- 35:08us that she hasn't talked to Anna in like 2 years Now.
- 35:11I'm probably reading between the lines on this, but This is why I
- 35:15say a young girl, a young woman who had who had difficulties in
- 35:22life. If you have parents that like,
- 35:25if you have a parent you haven't spoken to in two years, you have
- 35:27overcome some difficulty. Heather right there says she has
- 35:33not heard from Anna's dad or the FBI since her daughter died.
- 35:37And we stopped by the family's house yesterday.
- 35:39They left in an SUV without stopping to talk.
- 35:42We did see Anna's car parked on the grass outside.
- 35:46Anna Kepner was a student at Temple Christian School in
- 35:49Titusville. She was on a Carnival cruise
- 35:51when she was found dead back on November 9th.
- 35:54The FBI has not revealed anything about what might have
- 35:57happened but court documents and her stepmom's divorce case.
- 36:00Claims we're going to get. Into son so Anna's stepbrother
- 36:03is a suspect in the death. The boy does not appear to be in
- 36:07custody. Anna's birth mom lives in
- 36:09Oklahoma now. She last saw her daughter two
- 36:11years ago. She says Anna was a great girl
- 36:14who never got into trouble. She always wanted to make people
- 36:17laugh and she loved the water and we were constantly going to
- 36:21the lakes here where I live so she can go swimming.
- 36:28She is desperate for answers about what happened Anna and
- 36:31today we expect we could get autopsy results from the medical
- 36:34examiner that could explain how Anna died.
- 36:37Tonight, though, is the time to remember the teen.
- 36:40Her celebration of life happening at 5:00 here at the
- 36:43Grove Church on Harrison St. in Titusville.
- 36:46Her family asking that no one who comes wear black.
- 36:49Instead wear bright colors in honor of Anna.
- 36:51Her favorite color was blue, covering Brevard County Live in
- 36:55Titusville. Bob Hazen W 2 News.
- 36:58OK, so I I just want to show that that so that memorial would
- 37:03have happened about would have started about three hours ago.
- 37:08When whenever I hear a a parent, I I don't know, maybe maybe I'm
- 37:15wrong about this and and I'm could I'm OK to be wrong.
- 37:18Call me out if I am. It didn't sound particular, like
- 37:23she was particularly grieving. And any time a parent will talk
- 37:27to the news, I always kind of feel like, why are you talking
- 37:29to the news? Don't talk to the news.
- 37:32Like have have some dignity. And and I'm a person who goes
- 37:36and talks to people. And sometimes, like, I can't
- 37:40believe you're talking to me. But it doesn't seem to me like
- 37:45there was a huge relationship between Anna and her mother.
- 37:51Here is a here's a report from WKMG that I wanted to show you
- 38:00guys. Let me let me bring it up.
- 38:02This one is about two minutes long as well.
- 38:04Let's let's have a watch. Anna Kepner's 16 year old
- 38:07stepbrother quote, is a suspect in her death on a Carnival
- 38:11cruise ship. That information is not coming
- 38:13from law enforcement. It's coming from the 16 year
- 38:15old's parents. Those parents were just in
- 38:17court. Yeah, I I cannot believe in in a
- 38:21matter of family disputes that it was a public hearing, but
- 38:27check this out. If the court isn't aware that
- 38:30apparently this has been made national news.
- 38:34This online court hearing involving a child custody case
- 38:38took place just hours before a memorial service honoring Anna
- 38:41Kepner, who was found dead on a Carnival cruise ship.
- 38:45The teen was joined on that cruise by her father, her
- 38:48stepmother, and at least two of her stepmother's children from
- 38:52another marriage, a nearly 9 year old daughter and 16 year
- 38:56old son. Those two children were the
- 38:59subject of this court hearing. Can I speak?
- 39:03Chantelle Kepner, the children's mother and Anna Kepner's
- 39:06stepmother. She's in a child custody dispute
- 39:09with her ex-husband Thomas Hudson, seated on the right.
- 39:13The former couple says their 16 year old son quote is a suspect
- 39:18in his step sister's death. Well, your honor, it's our
- 39:22understanding that because the cruise was in international
- 39:25waters that the the young child, not the nine year old, but the
- 39:2816 year old was allowed to to drink.
- 39:31The teenagers were given their own room within which to stay.
- 39:38Just a lot of circumstances that show that the the the mother in
- 39:42this case was not exercising appropriate supervision over
- 39:47over this child. I think that is the dumbest
- 39:50argument. You know when we go to a hotel
- 39:52as a family, we have separate rooms for our kids.
- 39:56That's it's OK. Have you ever been on a cruise
- 39:59ship, dude? Not a lot of room.
- 40:02So yeah, having a separate room for the kids, that's not an
- 40:06indication that that there's anything bad going on there.
- 40:10And and they argue back, the other side argues back.
- 40:14I'll let them argue for themselves.
- 40:16Or the other child involved. Chantelle Kepner's attorney
- 40:20disputes that. There are videotapes on the ship
- 40:23that confirm that there was absolutely no drinking and that
- 40:28there's and DCF investigated and saw that there was no alcohol in
- 40:32Mom's house whatsoever. So I'm not sure where that's
- 40:36coming from. There was number resolution to
- 40:39the child custody dispute which will be handled at a future
- 40:42court hearing. We did learn that 16 year old
- 40:44stepbrother was taken to the hospital after the cruise for
- 40:48undisclosed reasons. He is now living with a relative
- 40:51on his mom's side of the family as the FBI investigation
- 40:55continues. Mike Deforest, News 6.
- 40:58OK, so that brings us back over here.
- 41:04I need to be able to see what you guys are saying.
- 41:06OK, This is these are the court documents that they are
- 41:09referencing in in all of these reports that we've read and
- 41:12watched tonight. This is them.
- 41:15OK, they're very quick. We're going to make it very
- 41:17quick. But this is a you know, a family
- 41:23motion, family law emergency motion for temporary relief
- 41:27comes now the petitioner Thomas Hudson.
- 41:30This is the stepmom's ex-husband buying through his attorney,
- 41:35moves the court for temporary relief on an emergency basis and
- 41:39has grounds Therefore does state there are two remaining minor
- 41:43children that are subject to the action.
- 41:45To wit, TH born in 2009 and BH, born in 2016.
- 41:50The oldest child of the party, so they had three, is an 18 year
- 41:54old. Let's see, the party's 16 year
- 41:59old child has been respond, has been residing with a respondent.
- 42:03The respondent has denied the petitioners time sharing with
- 42:06the remaining minor children. The respondent took the
- 42:08remaining minor children on a cruise with the stepchild of her
- 42:12paramour, her husband. I'm not sure if they're married
- 42:18or not. A paramour indicates that they
- 42:20are unmarried. But they do talk about like
- 42:22stepmom, stepdad, right? The 16 year old child is now a
- 42:26suspect. You see that I got it
- 42:28highlighted here. The 16 year old child is now a
- 42:31suspect in the death of the stepchild, Anna Kepner during
- 42:40the cruise while released from custody, the 16 year old child.
- 42:46So this would be TH is residing with a third party and then it
- 42:51goes through a couple of other things.
- 42:53Line item number 17, The 16 year old's future has been put in
- 42:57jeopardy because of the choices made by the respondent.
- 43:01That to me indicates that maybe stepmom here is somehow
- 43:09involved. Do they know something?
- 43:12The 16 year old's future has been put in jeopardy because of
- 43:14choices made by the respondent. Are they talking about just
- 43:19something as simple as the choice to go on a cruise?
- 43:22Or is it something like, no, she has she has something to do with
- 43:27this And there is there is other there are other parts I should
- 43:33Gavin stop. There is another part to this
- 43:36that kind of feels like she also is saying that I may have had a
- 43:43a part in this. We'll get to it.
- 43:46OK. And I that that's it where for
- 43:49blah, blah, blah, I would like, I would like the job.
- 43:52OK. So that was filed, if we go up
- 43:55here, that was filed on the 17th at 1:54 PM the same day at 4:39
- 44:00PM, there's an emergency motion for continuance of hearing on
- 44:05petitioners, motion for contempt and enforcement.
- 44:08And this is filed by the stepmom, Chantelle Hudson.
- 44:13Right Now comes the respondent. Actually, if her name is
- 44:17Chantelle Hudson, I, I know that we live in a modern world, but
- 44:22that might be a clue also that she and Anna Kepner's dad are
- 44:27not married. But OK, comes now.
- 44:30The respondent Chantelle Hudson, by and through the undersigned
- 44:33Council, hereby files this motion for, you know, a
- 44:39continuance of the hearing which is set for December 17th to be
- 44:44rescheduled and as grounds therefore would state as
- 44:46follows. An extremely sensitive and
- 44:50severe circumstance has arisen wherein the respondent mother
- 44:55will not be able to testify at the hearing at this time.
- 44:58Currently, there's an investigation being conducted by
- 45:01the Federal Bureau of Investigation arising out of the
- 45:04sudden death of 18 year old Anna Kepner who was found deceased on
- 45:09November 9th, 2025 on a Carnival cruise.
- 45:13She died on the eighth. They believe at least she went
- 45:18missing on the 8th. Miss Anna Kepner, the deceased
- 45:21is the daughter of the respondents Paramore and the
- 45:24respondent and the minor child of this instant action were all
- 45:28on the cruise ship together. The Respondent has been advised
- 45:33through discussions with FBI investigators and her attorneys
- 45:37that a criminal case may be initiated against one of the
- 45:40minor children of this instant action.
- 45:43The respondents privilege against self incrimination.
- 45:50Self incrimination must be invoked pursuant to Florida
- 45:56Constitutional Constitution Article 1, subsection 9.
- 46:00No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property
- 46:03without due process of law, or be twice put in jeopardy for the
- 46:07same offense or be compelled and any criminal matter to be a
- 46:11witness against one's self. I wish I had an attorney on as a
- 46:17guest today to kind of figure that out because is it TH that
- 46:23is the suspect here or is it Chantelle who is the suspect
- 46:26here? I can't tell based on this, any
- 46:30testimony the respondent may give you, the written or oral,
- 46:33could be prejudicial to her or her adolescent child.
- 46:36Now this is where it kind of gets a little more Gray for me.
- 46:40Prejudicial to her or her adolescent child.
- 46:43Well, I kind of feel like the Fifth Amendment here and the
- 46:51Florida Constitution, Article 1 subsection 9 kind of really only
- 46:57applies to self incrimination, not incrimination of another.
- 47:01You know what I mean? Wherefore blah blah, blah, blah
- 47:06blah. Certificate of service.
- 47:07OK then. So that was again 4:39 PM on the
- 47:1217th, on the 18th day before yesterday at 1036 PMI don't know
- 47:18why that there's a mother's response to father's emergency
- 47:23motion for temporary relief comes now.
- 47:25The respondent Chantelle Hudson hereby states blah blah blah
- 47:34there are in fact 2 minor children of the parties, to wit,
- 47:37TH a male child born in 2009 and BHA male, a female child born in
- 47:412016. TH we believe is the suspect,
- 47:46the 3rd and eldest charge child is of different age, blah blah
- 47:49blah. And she's saying, you know,
- 47:53there was no altercation that he said there was, there was no DV,
- 47:58nothing like that. Let's skip ahead, OK?
- 48:01It is true that there is an open investigation regarding the
- 48:04death of the biological daughter of the stepfather.
- 48:07Now they're saying stepfather not and they're misspelling it
- 48:11too, but they're not saying Paramore.
- 48:13And and then it says specifically, and TH is a
- 48:16suspect regarding this death, which occurred recently on a
- 48:20cruise ship. With regard to the minor child
- 48:23TH, the party signed a stipulation on or about November
- 48:2617th that the minor child TH will be living because he the
- 48:30the father was arguing that he shouldn't be living with
- 48:34somebody else, but he apparently stipulated to it.
- 48:38So THI guess the long and short of it is residing with another
- 48:43family member. And I don't think, Oh yeah, it
- 48:48is certainly not in the best interests of TH that any
- 48:51statements regarding the matter that is the subject of the open
- 48:54investigation be discussed at a civil court proceeding.
- 48:58And while I agree with that it could just be sealed, all this
- 49:04I, I don't know why this public anyway?
- 49:06I don't get it. Why is this public anyway?
- 49:12In the meantime, we've got a 16 year old who is a a suspect,
- 49:20let's say in the murder. We've got a murdered 18 year
- 49:24old, this beautiful young thing here with her whole life ahead
- 49:27of her and and we've got more questions and answers.
- 49:32I think what we're really waiting on right now is
- 49:33toxicology, which could take a long time.
- 49:38Let's quickly because we will. I'm trying really hard to keep
- 49:41things to an hour. I'm so long winded.
- 49:44Let's just quickly see if there's anything content.
- 49:50Angel 123 says because all family law stuff is public if
- 49:54the couple is married, but they're not married, they're
- 49:59divorced. Yeah.
- 50:02I I don't know. Yeah.
- 50:07And if the couple is married, it's public.
- 50:09If the couple is not married, it's private.
- 50:11Go figure. Well, they're not married.
- 50:14So I don't. I don't know why.
- 50:16I don't know why. Anything else you guys are
- 50:19saying out here? Hey, Autumn Doyle, 19 month

- 51:03few years on the news, someone has either gone missing or found
- 51:05on the ship at least two a year. Yeah.
- 51:10OK. I think that's about it that you
- 51:13guys are saying. So let's do our final little
- 51:17segment of the night. You guys know what time it is.
- 51:21It's time for three questions. It's. 3.
- 51:25Questions with Gavin Fish POW All right, guys, I came up with
- 51:33a way to actually have our questions up on the screen.
- 51:37It wasn't all that difficult. It's not like I should be given
- 51:40a gold medal or anything. Maybe a bronze medal, maybe a
- 51:42bronze medal, but we've got three questions.
- 51:45Again, three questions with Gavin Fish.
- 51:47If you ever want to ask a question, nothing's off limits.
- 51:52Everything's on the table. You can ask the most
- 51:55inappropriate stuff you want to ask.
- 51:58Just e-mail it to Three Questions at Gavin Fish.
- 52:01First question, what's the smell that instantly unlocks a memory
- 52:04for you? This is easy.
- 52:07It's crayons, and I think a lot of people have that thing right.
- 52:11Crayons are such a powerful, powerful smell and it unlocks 2
- 52:18memories for me, Both of them having to do with the houses of
- 52:22my grandparents, my dad's mom, my grandpa and grandma.
- 52:29They had a home with a basement, and in that basement there was a
- 52:35whole area that was just all coloring books.
- 52:39And Grandma's rule was we were not to take any pages out of the
- 52:43books because she'd like to go see what we colored.
- 52:46At least that's what she said. And so we would go down and
- 52:50there were like stacks of books. And sometimes it would be
- 52:54difficult to find anything that hadn't been colored because
- 52:59let's see, how many cousins do I have 3?
- 53:12I think it's like 24 on that side Anyway, I'm, I'm probably
- 53:16getting that wrong. But anyway, sometimes it was
- 53:21hard to find a page that hadn't been colored, but we would find
- 53:24one that we liked and we would sit there in the basement kind
- 53:27of by the fire and we would color and the the smell of
- 53:33Crayola would waft around. Also in my mom's parents house,
- 53:38my grandparents on that side they had in their home, they had
- 53:43this little like breezeway. It was a hallway, I guess.
- 53:47But when you get off of the, it wasn't like a long hallway.
- 53:50It was just a square room and it had a door on all four sides of
- 53:54it. So you could open the door to
- 53:57get into this little hallway. And then on one side was a
- 53:59bedroom. On another side was the laundry
- 54:02room. Through the laundry room was my
- 54:03grandparents bedroom, and then in front of you was the
- 54:08bathroom. But this little room, which is
- 54:09probably only like 5 feet square, 6 feet by 6 feet,
- 54:14something like that, that also had toys, coloring books,
- 54:18crayons. And so when I smell crayons, I
- 54:22think of my grandmother's. I don't know why I don't think
- 54:26of my grandfather's. Yeah, it's, it's my grandma's.
- 54:31Yeah, question #2 if you could rename yourself with no social
- 54:36consequences, what name would you pick?
- 54:37Now listen, you, whoever wrote this in which I should, I should
- 54:44look and see, but it doesn't matter.
- 54:47You have hit a hot button in my life, OK?
- 54:52And let me tell you why my parents.
- 54:56Now you guys know that I think I won the family lottery when I
- 55:00was born. I have the best parents.
- 55:03I have the best brothers. I have the best sisters.
- 55:06Good family, love them all. But my parents made a mistake.
- 55:11They made a huge mistake with me and this is the mistake that
- 55:14they made. It has to do with my name.
- 55:18My name is not Gavin Fish. My name is John Fish.
- 55:23That is my name. My middle name is Gavin.
- 55:27So John Gavin Fish, in fact, I'm Captain Nostalgia recently.
- 55:32So this is my high school yearbook.
- 55:37I am probably the only person in my yearbook now.
- 55:42Luckily I was on the yearbook staff.
- 55:46But look, let's bring this up. Where are we?
- 55:54There we are right here. I have a first initial, people.
- 55:59Let's see if you can see my little There I am right there.
- 56:02OK, I have a first initial. My name is John Gavin Fish not.
- 56:10And here's why. My parents wanted to name one of
- 56:15their sons after my dad, which is terrific.
- 56:19I've got a great dad. I'm happy to be named after my
- 56:21dad. But they didn't.
- 56:25But they didn't want to call me his name.
- 56:26They didn't want a junior, which is fine.
- 56:30So they named me John Gavin Fish with the full intention from the
- 56:36moment I was born that they would call me Gavin.
- 56:38And that is just mean. It's mean for my entire life.
- 56:45I have to explain to everyone, people at the bank, I don't
- 56:52know, job interviews, everything that might don't call me John.
- 57:00My name is Gavin and I've like wanted so bad to have like a
- 57:06credit card that has my actual name on it, but it doesn't.
- 57:11It doesn't. It's you can't see it says John
- 57:15G Fish. It's not my name.
- 57:17So if I could rename myself with no social, no, there would be
- 57:22social consequences. My social I would be more
- 57:26socially. I don't know.
- 57:31I get, I don't know. I I would be happier to rename
- 57:35me Gavin Johnfish. Now, you may be asking yourself,
- 57:38Gavin, why don't you just go and change your name?
- 57:42I'll tell you why. Because my parents gave me this
- 57:44name and I don't want to break my mom's heart.
- 57:47So that is, that's my little diatribe on my name.
- 57:54OK, third question. What's something you've learned
- 57:57to appreciate as you've only as you've gotten older, What's
- 58:04something I've learned to appreciate?
- 58:08You know, this isn't, this is an easy, this might be the easy way
- 58:11out, but I deeply appreciate the finiteness of life, the
- 58:19shortness of time and the the fact that opportunities go away.
- 58:28I think you probably can sympathize with me or empathize
- 58:31with me when I say that as a kid, like that picture that I
- 58:37just showed you of my senior year of high school.
- 58:40I just thought that life went on forever.
- 58:43I was immortal and it just didn't matter what I did.
- 58:47What if I was wasting my time or using it for something for good?
- 58:52It didn't matter because I had all the time in the world.
- 58:54And now I know that I don't. I know that I don't.
- 59:02So those are my answers to the three questions.
- 59:04Thank you very much for sending them in.
- 59:06It's. 3. Questions.
- 59:15All right before we go. I think we're right in an hour.
- 59:23Autumn, not autumn Mooney. Is it Mooney or Moon?
- 59:28Yeah, it's Mooney, says. What did you end up making doing
- 59:31for Kimberly? I haven't delivered it to her
- 59:34yet, so I'm not going to say, but it ended up being a little
- 59:39bit bigger of a project than I I had time for.
- 59:42Speaking of time, right? So I haven't haven't given it to
- 59:46her yet. Thank you content Angel. 26
- 59:49years with my snuggly bear. My one and only Kristen Nelson
- 59:53says how about rubber cement in those Mr. Sketch scented
- 59:56markers? Oh yes, those ones will bring it
- 59:59in G smile. Sarah says my grandparents had a
- 1:00:03tin with crayons and a stack of coloring books.
- 1:00:06What a great memory you brought to mind.
- 1:00:08I am so glad for Yeah, those are those are amazing.
- 1:00:14Yeah, that smell of. Rubber cement.
- 1:00:17Yeah. Arts and crafts with grandma.
