- 0:00So I am not great at the elevator pitch to be honest with
- 0:04you. I don't.
- 0:06It's not the way I roll. And the reason why it's not the
- 0:08way that I roll is because I'm better at listening to you.
- 0:12To be fair, I like listening to what you're doing, why you're
- 0:15doing it, how you're doing it, like all that passionate stuff,
- 0:19the reason why you do what you do.
- 0:22And then from the information that you give me, because I'm
- 0:25really good at getting in that information, I figure out
- 0:28whether I can work with you. And if I can't work with you,
- 0:30who can I network with you with next?
- 0:33That's it. So today I've got to talk about
- 0:35the support Worker store. And it turns out that the
- 0:37support worker Store has been up and running for three years,
- 0:41which took me by surprise because in that three years I've
- 0:45had to pivot, I've had to move, I've had to change the way that
- 0:49I do things in between. And if you've been following
- 0:54along for the support Worker Store, it started while I was
- 0:57pregnant with my third, and I hadn't.
- 1:00I started with creating funny, humorous mugs about support
- 1:04work. And while I was doing that, I
- 1:06realized I could actually offer a lot more because my years of
- 1:10service to the sector, I knew more than what I was giving and
- 1:15I knew that I was playing too small.
- 1:17So once I figured out the playing too small things, I
- 1:19developed and grew the brand to where it is today under the
- 1:24support worker store Lie. Sarah knows Support Workers,
- 1:27which is the podcast. To be fair, I was trailing
- 1:30around and I was kind of like, you know, one of those things
- 1:35stuff around and find out. I found out I'm 70 episodes in
- 1:40and I have been able to have the opportunity to interview some of
- 1:44our sector's greatest. So it has been that when I'm not
- 1:48doing the support worker store, I'm actually the Co founder of
- 1:51Swifty matches. Swifty matches an app that
- 1:53connects any is participants. We support workers whether they
- 1:56are independent or with a provider.
- 1:59This came about because I was watching one too many.
- 2:02I was like a whole thing to how we got to Swifty Matchy.
- 2:06But in fairness to the story, I was watching one too many maths
- 2:12episodes and there was this one episode that really like screams
- 2:15to mind was kind of like with a penny drop for me.
- 2:17In this episode, the bride was walking down the aisle.
- 2:21She was so excited to get married.
- 2:23She was really wanted love all those things in between and it's
- 2:27like the voice over. So you can see us slowly walk
- 2:29down this aisle. The guy turns around and his
- 2:33voice over was that's not what I ordered.
- 2:35And at the time I was ahead of a service, whereas delivering 1 to
- 2:39ones at that time, it made like the penny dropped.
- 2:42I was like, I wonder how many times a person that we should
- 2:47have opened the door and went not what we ordered, not what I
- 2:50wanted You said this and I got that and it made me think how
- 2:55can we deliver that part better? So that's Swifty Mac cheese
- 2:58origin story was that, but it was also the times that I spent
- 3:01in intake where I got very good at it.
- 3:04Don't get me wrong, I got good at intaking NDIS participants
- 3:07into service and matching them up with support workers that
- 3:09they liked. But the most common thing that I
- 3:12got out of like feedback from people that we serve was I'm
- 3:17changing services. I don't like the support worker
- 3:20that I've got. And this kept getting repeated
- 3:23and repeated and repeated. And that became my course of
- 3:26action after hearing it so many times.
- 3:29And then bits and stories would come along.
- 3:31And I know that we can do a better job than what we're
- 3:33serving at current. So that's the origin story about
- 3:36Swifty Matschi. Exciting times ahead.
