- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in today's episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:47that was created for a client that had a fear of rodents.
- 0:52And in. Particular mice and they had an
- 0:56apartment in the city, but they also had an apartment more in
- 1:01the country and it was that particular home that they were
- 1:04concerned about mice being in the property and how they would
- 1:08handle that and what I tend to do when I'm working with clients
- 1:12that have a fear. Is find the closest?
- 1:16Thing to the fear that they are not afraid of, and this client
- 1:22had a fear of mice so I asked the question is there anything
- 1:26of a similar sized animal that they're not afraid of?
- 1:31And for them. It was small birds, even though
- 1:35they were both unpredictable, small, you know, quite fast
- 1:40moving, they had No Fear of birds, but they did have a fear
- 1:44of mice. And the reason I look for the
- 1:46nearest comparable thing is because that demonstrates a
- 1:51resource state very close to what would be very helpful in
- 1:56the context of mice. So what you're going to hear in
- 2:00this particular hypnosis session is an element of what's called
- 2:04priming. You want to prime and activate
- 2:07the resourceful state linked to the initial thing and then.
- 2:11Map that across. To the thing where they
- 2:13currently feel unresourceful and anxiety can be a resource state,
- 2:18but in most cases it makes people feel unresourced for they
- 2:21have that paradox, paradox of making people less prepared and
- 2:26and less capable rather than more capable.
- 2:29And it's interesting because I've worked with a lot of people
- 2:31that had a fear of birds, but this client importantly didn't
- 2:35have a fear of birds, but did have a fear of mice.
- 2:38So that's what you're going to hear, an element of priming,
- 2:42activating the resource state mapping across to the context of
- 2:46mice and then the disassociated and associated future pacing so
- 2:53that they could actually feel comfortable and confident around
- 2:58mice. And they definitely.
- 2:59Couldn't before. And the good test of this kind
- 3:02of thing is because anxiety is linked to anticipation.
- 3:07I asked the question at the end of the session, how do you now
- 3:09feel about going to your home in the country?
- 3:12And she was scanning for the anxiety but couldn't find it.
- 3:15And that's normally a good clue that something has changed.
- 3:18Because she did. Indeed, start thinking of mice a
- 3:22lot like small birds. And therefore nothing.
- 3:25To worry about. And that's, you know, quite a
- 3:27good metric. The real proof of any kind of
- 3:29change will be when she's next actually in that environment.
- 3:33And she did have some humane mousetrap.
- 3:35So if she does capture and release a mouse and feels calm
- 3:39or doing it, that will be the nail in the coffin of that
- 3:41particular phobia. Now, I appreciate you might have
- 3:45stumbled across this particular hypnosis recording because you
- 3:51have a fear of rodents. But it might be that your fear
- 3:54is rats or your fear is, you know, something else.
- 3:58It might be, you know, different types of rodents.
- 4:03You know, and there are more than just kind of rats you've
- 4:06got. Gerbils you've got.
- 4:07Other small, you know, kind of creatures, different parts of
- 4:11the world. You've got very large rodents,
- 4:13so it doesn't necessarily need to be mice.
- 4:16And it might be that you don't feel great around small birds
- 4:19either. But just bear in mind that this
- 4:20was for the original client. They felt fine with small birds.
- 4:24But they didn't. For feel smart fine around mice
- 4:27and that's why it was the session for them.
- 4:30So if you do like the idea of having a hypnotherapy session
- 4:33customized to you and your circumstances to enable a
- 4:36breakthrough for you, there will be a link in the show notes
- 4:39where you can schedule that free consultation call to explore
- 4:42working with me. Because normally with phobias is
- 4:46normally two or three sessions is is all it would take to
- 4:49really kind of breakthrough a phobia so it doesn't come back
- 4:54or to reduce the anxiety to such a low level.
- 4:57That it doesn't. Really affect your quality of
- 4:59life, so if that appeals to you, click the link in the show
- 5:01notes. We'll have a completely free
- 5:04chat over on Zoom and you can make the decision if I'm the
- 5:06right therapist to work with you.
- 5:09For now though. You might find some value in
- 5:11this session even though it was created for someone else.
- 5:14So just find a nice, quiet, comfortable place where you
- 5:17won't be disturbed. Relax and.
- 5:20Enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:45you breathe in, position your body in a way that feels
- 5:49comfortable, and as you exhale, release any tension around your
- 5:55eyelids and just notice, but with your eyes closed, how much
- 6:02easier it is to focus on the sound and the words of my voice.
- 6:13Breathing in relaxation, exhaling tension, and just
- 6:18getting a sense that every outward breath is releasing any
- 6:23tension, any stress, any worries or feelings of anxiety, just
- 6:32like a transfusion through breath.
- 6:38Breathing in relaxation and confidence and exhaling tension
- 6:46or anxiety. And maybe you can notice the
- 6:54more relaxed you feel, the deeper and slower your breathing
- 6:59becomes. Breathing in more of that
- 7:03relaxation and exhaling more of any tension, creating a
- 7:12wonderful snowball effect. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 7:18relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel,
- 7:24the deeper you breathe and the longer you exhale, and the more
- 7:29that anything disempowering, anything you don't need, is
- 7:36leaving your body in that outward breath.
- 7:53And you can feel a sense of calm spreading through your body,
- 8:01like a soft breeze or a warm blanket.
- 8:07And as you continue to relax, imagine yourself in a peaceful,
- 8:14natural setting where you can see trees.
- 8:20Maybe on a spring day, seeing the blossom, maybe you could
- 8:27imagine sunlight finding its way through the canopy of the trees.
- 8:38Or maybe you could imagine a quiet garden where you can hear
- 8:43the gentle chirping of birds. I want you to notice the sound
- 8:52of that bird chirping. Perhaps you could imagine seeing
- 8:59a small bird on a tree branch, maybe a chickadee or a long
- 9:06tailed tit. As you look at that tiny bird on
- 9:12that branch, get a sense that it's vulnerable, delicate, maybe
- 9:20even cute. As you notice it's tiny
- 9:25movements, the way it flutters from branch to branch, soft
- 9:32feathers, bright inquisitive eyes.
- 9:41And as you see this small, delicate creature that needs
- 9:48food and water and occasionally shelter from harsh rain or
- 9:54storms, notice how there is no anxiety, but a feeling, perhaps
- 10:03of empathy, understanding. This is a creature like you that
- 10:11also has needs. That isn't malicious.
- 10:16It's just a bird, a small animal.
- 10:23And scan your body for any emotions, perhaps curiosity,
- 10:29appreciation, maybe just warmth, or just a sense of ease around
- 10:38this small bird. You come to the irrefutable
- 10:46conclusion that it's just a small creature moving about its
- 10:52world just as you move about yours.
- 11:02And then notice that not far from these trees of this garden
- 11:07is a home. A home from home that you
- 11:10recognise. You're seeing it from the
- 11:15outside. Notice the shape of the
- 11:19building, the entrance, any features that make it unique.
- 11:34Imagine walking into this home and imagine to your surprise
- 11:39that one of those small birds has found its way inside and
- 11:46maybe it came through an open window or slipped through a gap
- 11:50in the door. You see it fluttering a little,
- 11:55confused, trying to find its way back out.
- 12:02There is no evaluation that it's doing something to annoy you,
- 12:07cause an inconvenience to you. The evaluation is that it's here
- 12:15through either bad luck, misfortune or an accident,
- 12:21didn't mean to be here. And you feel a sense of empathy,
- 12:26that you have a desire to help it leave as it wants to and
- 12:36without hesitation. You move with a calm confidence.
- 12:42You know exactly what to do. Maybe you gently guide it
- 12:48towards the door, or open a window.
- 12:53Or if it's tangled up in something like curtain netting,
- 12:58you find a container or some gloves to help hold it and guide
- 13:05it outside. You handle the situation with
- 13:10ease, feeling in control, feeling a sense of pride that
- 13:16you're helping this little creature return to where it
- 13:20belongs. And as you observe the bird,
- 13:30something interesting happens. At first it still looks like a
- 13:36bird, but slowly, gradually, its features begin to shift.
- 13:46The feathers smooth out, it's tiny beak softens, and soon it
- 13:53has a little pink nose and whiskers.
- 13:56Yet you feel somehow that it's still a bird.
- 14:01It's delicate feet remain, but the wings seem to disappear, and
- 14:09now it has tiny paws. And yet nothing has changed in
- 14:14you. The same calm, capable feeling
- 14:21remains, because this is still just a small, harmless creature
- 14:31moving about in its own way. It's just.
- 14:37Like a small bird, only dressed a little differently.
- 14:50And you realize that if you choose, you could even imagine
- 14:55little mice with tiny wings folded against their backs, or
- 15:02mice wearing fluffy feathered coats, blending the two ideas
- 15:08together. And the more you think of this,
- 15:12the truer it becomes that there's no reason not to feel.
- 15:18The way you feel about birds is becoming the way you feel about
- 15:24mice. And with this new way of seeing
- 15:29things, you realise something profound.
- 15:38The way you handle the bird is the same way you can handle the
- 15:42mouse. Empathy, assistance,
- 15:47understanding. I want you to get a sense that
- 15:56there was a time that mice triggered a feeling in you, but
- 15:59that's. The past now.
- 16:02Now they feel just like small birds without any wings, where
- 16:09the beak is now a tiny nose. And the tiny.
- 16:14Teeth struggle to open something like a sunflower seed.
- 16:24They're harmless to you. And now imagine a future moment,
- 16:34but this time see yourself like you're someone else, and that
- 16:41version of you notices a small movement in the corner of A
- 16:45room, and that version of you sees a little mouse safely
- 16:50trapped in a humane mousetrap. But notice there's something
- 16:55different about that future version of you moving and acting
- 17:00the same way with that little bird.
- 17:04See that version of you steady, in control, just as you were
- 17:10with that little bird? See that version of you picking
- 17:15up the trap? See that version of you feeling
- 17:18resourceful, capable, and calm? See that version of you carrying
- 17:27it outside, walking with confidence or driving it
- 17:32somewhere further afield, but looking completely at ease?
- 17:40See that version of you finding the perfect spot?
- 17:44Maybe a quiet wooded area or somewhere far off in a garden
- 17:49where it can scamper away freely?
- 17:53And observe how you place the trap down, waiting for it to
- 17:57calm down at the right time, opening the trap so that when
- 18:04it's ready, it can freely escape and go where it chooses.
- 18:15When the time is right, the mouse eventually moves away,
- 18:21finding its way back into the ideal environment.
- 18:26In nature, mice have existed for millions of years, way before
- 18:35towns and cities and houses. A mouse doesn't want to be in a
- 18:42house, it just wants occasional shelter and food.
- 18:50And if food is hard to find, it doesn't want to be there.
- 19:00And if you've seen yourself handle the situation the way you
- 19:03would like, then rewind that thought and now step into it and
- 19:12feel like you're the one seeing the mouse and the humane trap.
- 19:18You're the one picking it up with that same sense of calm you
- 19:22would do if it was a trapped bird.
- 19:26You're the one walking with it or driving away to somewhere
- 19:30that it would want to be, waiting for it to calm down,
- 19:36opening the trap and waiting for it to go away when it's ready,
- 19:43and then taking the empty trap back and maybe giving it a wash
- 19:49and resetting it only if it's needed.
- 20:00And get a sense then if you can do this in your imagination, you
- 20:05can do it in reality, you can do that.
- 20:09Handle it with ease, be calm, resourceful, in control.
- 20:16And from now on, anytime you encounter a mouse, you will
- 20:21treat it like a little bird, helping it to find its way to
- 20:27where it wants to be because you've changed the way you see
- 20:32them. And just as you are completely
- 20:36at ease with small birds, you are now completely at ease with
- 20:42mice. And that first once or twice
- 20:47occasion where you take them somewhere safe, any anxiety, are
- 20:53just echoes of the past, nothing real but giving you a firm
- 20:59belief that now you can remove them whenever you desire, but
- 21:07probably won't need to. You will see mice as just tiny,
- 21:18harmless creatures, a little different in shape, but not in
- 21:23their essence. Delicate, vulnerable,
- 21:27unpredictable, but harmless. And because you've already seen
- 21:32yourself succeed, your mind and body know exactly how to handle
- 21:37this in the real world. If necessary, you are planting a
- 21:46seed of an idea. But because you've changed the
- 21:51way you think about mice, anxiety is no longer needed.
- 21:57And the more you think of that, the truer it becomes.
- 22:03And if it. Feels like a shift has taken
- 22:05place. Feeling more confident in your
- 22:10future? Let me know by nodding your
- 22:11head. And now it's time to return,
- 22:17away from the trees or the house or the garden or the branches,
- 22:22back to the here and now. So take.
- 22:26A deep breath in, through your nose and out.
- 22:30Through your nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 22:34wiggle your toes starting to connect and calibrate with the
- 22:38here and now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 22:44You will awaken feeling resourceful, calm and confident,
- 22:49with an expectation that from this point forwards you are
- 22:54completely fine with mice, just as you are with small birds
- 23:01starting to count to awaken you. 123 Waking up. 456 More alert. 7
- 23:10eights. Open your eyes.
- 23:11Open your eyes. 910 Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
