- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's. Adam here.
- 0:42And in this episode of The Hypnotist, you're going to be
- 0:44listening to one of my favourite metaphorical protocols, which is
- 0:49the control room of the mind. And I was working with a client
- 0:53that had a condition, a sensation that they had checked
- 1:00out by all the different doctors and medical experts and knew
- 1:04that there was no underlying medical issue.
- 1:08And that's really important because if you have pain or a
- 1:12sensation in your body, more often than not it means you need
- 1:17attention or help in that particular area.
- 1:20So getting it checked out is the.
- 1:22Of. Course the right thing to do.
- 1:24You don't want to just turn off pain or sensations if it's
- 1:27warning you that you need to get some kind of help.
- 1:30But this client had all the checks and knew that there
- 1:35wasn't any underlying issue there, in which case this wasn't
- 1:39really serving a purpose. So what you're going to hear is
- 1:43a, A use of the metaphor of the control room.
- 1:47And it's about utilizing certain things.
- 1:50So it's either framed in a certain way and that's either
- 1:54that the message that it was sending has been heeded, it's
- 1:57been learned and understood and therefore isn't needed, you
- 2:02know, or that it's almost like a sensor issue, that it's a
- 2:07calibration problem and you can. You could.
- 2:09See this in biology, but you also see it in technology, you
- 2:13know, sometimes you can have an overly sensitive, sensitive
- 2:18smoke alarm, for example, that you know tells you there's a
- 2:22fire in your home even if there isn't or it might be a motion
- 2:26detector you have on some kind of security camera that.
- 2:31Actually all it. Does is show you, you know,
- 2:34trees that are blowing rather than actual intruders?
- 2:38So if you can happen in technology, it definitely
- 2:39happens. At a biological.
- 2:41Level as well and we can call these false reads or false
- 2:44positives. So there's a couple of things
- 2:46here that frames what's happening as a false alarm or as
- 2:51some kind of message. And because that message has
- 2:54been acted on and understood now we've got we still got the
- 2:58alarm. It's almost kind of like if you
- 3:00had an alarm set in your home and you were on holiday, so you
- 3:05weren't in your home, the alarm would still go off even if it
- 3:08wasn't helping you in any way. So you get these false reads,
- 3:11You can also get these false outcomes.
- 3:14And once there's this understanding that once the
- 3:18underlying message has been understood and acted upon,
- 3:22therefore then the message isn't needed, if that makes sense.
- 3:26So it's kind of like if a fire alarm was working well and it
- 3:30alerts you to leave your home. Once you've left the home, there
- 3:33is no advantage to the fire alarm continuing.
- 3:37And there's a few metaphors like this, but also the ability to
- 3:40change these things by using the control room of the mind.
- 3:45So I would encourage you to think about, and it could be
- 3:49pain, it could be something, an intrusive thought, even
- 3:53something that comes up every now and then that you just don't
- 3:56appreciate it. It might even be anger or
- 3:59annoyance or something like that.
- 4:00So think of that thing that happens.
- 4:03It's it's almost triggering in you.
- 4:05You don't want it anymore. And then think of that as you
- 4:07listen to this session and you'll get more out of the
- 4:10session. So for now, find a quiet,
- 4:13comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 4:15Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:51you breathe in, feel like you're breathing in, a wonderful calm
- 4:58feeling of pure relaxation. And as you exhale, allow
- 5:08yourself to start to let go. The let go of tension, of
- 5:17stresses and worries and even sensations that aren't useful.
- 5:26Breathing and relaxation and exhaling that tension.
- 5:35And maybe you can scan your body for any clues of tension could
- 5:40be in the jaw, your forehead, your eyelids and neck and
- 5:46shoulders and just allow it to start to release, enabling you
- 5:55to feel that now is the time to allow yourself to make
- 6:06unconscious changes. When you think back through your
- 6:15life, some of your biggest changes weren't because you made
- 6:23a decision or tried to force something.
- 6:28Some of your big life changes is that your unconscious did it for
- 6:33you. Beliefs were changed, ideas came
- 6:41to you, certain decisions were made on your behalf by your
- 6:48unconscious mind simply because it knew exactly what you needed.
- 6:56So let's go to that place. The place where you're
- 7:00unconscious is given the ability to make wonderful positive
- 7:08changes. Take another deep breath in,
- 7:21then as you exhale, allow your body to relax even more,
- 7:28releasing that tension and any distractions.
- 7:33And with each breath, just feel yourself sinking deeper into a
- 7:38calm and peaceful state, almost like you're floating,
- 7:44weightless, drifting. And as you listen to my voice,
- 7:53you may begin to notice that your body feels lighter, your
- 7:59thoughts quieter, your awareness gently shifting inward, guiding
- 8:08you to a place of deep inner focus and relaxation.
- 8:19I want you to use the power of your imagination to imagine a
- 8:26room inside your mind. Imagine that room has a door.
- 8:35A door that leads to the control room of your mind.
- 8:41A place where all sensations, signals and automatic processes
- 8:48are managed. Imagine standing in front of
- 8:53that door could be a metal door, a glass door, a wooden door.
- 9:02And as I count from 5:00 to 1:00, you will imagine opening
- 9:05the door and walking through the door into the control room of
- 9:13your mind. Five.
- 9:19Imagine putting your hand on a handle, 4 turning the handle, 3
- 9:25putting the door towards you, 2 walking through the door, and
- 9:31one closing the door behind you. And I want you to imagine what
- 9:38this control room looks like for you.
- 9:42Maybe it looks like it's full of technology, a room with a vast
- 9:49array of screens and buttons and dials, and you could imagine
- 9:54that each one represents different functions of your body
- 9:59and mind. I want to get a sense that
- 10:04almost all of them are running perfectly.
- 10:10I want you to think about your breathing.
- 10:13Your breathing is normally slow and steady, but if you had to
- 10:18Sprint to get somewhere, your breathing would just get faster
- 10:26and deeper automatically to give your body the oxygen that you
- 10:31need. Or maybe you think about how
- 10:37your body deals with heat. It's normal temperature, your
- 10:44body is calm. But if it's a very hot day or
- 10:49you're in a hot environment, your body starts to sweat and
- 10:55you don't make that happen. It happens all by itself, which
- 11:02tells you that most of the controls in this control room
- 11:08are working perfectly fine, whereas others may need just a
- 11:16simple adjustment. I want you to look around for a
- 11:22clue of a faulty sensor, a sensor that has been giving a
- 11:30false reading. I want you to think that
- 11:37sometimes the life we live surrounded by technology, every
- 11:45now and then the sensors we see give us false readings.
- 11:51You might think of a sensor on a car telling you that the
- 11:55pressure is low on the tires, but you look at the tires and
- 12:01you can see they're not. Or perhaps when a smoke alarm is
- 12:06triggered from steam or burnt toast rather than a fire.
- 12:15Sometimes senses can become over sensitive, showing false
- 12:22positives and misreading what is actually happening.
- 12:29I want you to think of sensation that you've been feeling where
- 12:34you've already ruled out any physical problems and you know
- 12:41logically that there is nothing physically wrong.
- 12:47And that means that this is not an actual problem, but perhaps
- 12:53more like a faulty sensor, one that for some reason has been
- 12:59miscalibrated. So now I want you to find the
- 13:08control panel connected to this particular sensor, and maybe it
- 13:15looks like a dial, A button, or a switch.
- 13:21Or perhaps there's something that gives you the ability to
- 13:25reset the sensor. Lots of computers that have
- 13:32issues are solved instantly the moment you reboot.
- 13:40Sometimes you may have had a phone or a device that needed a
- 13:46factory reset and the moment you did that it took it all the way
- 13:52back to its original settings. And I want you to imagine there
- 13:59is the ability for this faulty sensor to be reset to the
- 14:06original factory settings the way it was designed to work,
- 14:12triggering this sensation only when truly needed.
- 14:18And you can choose now to reset it.
- 14:23Maybe it's a button, maybe it's a socket that you unplug and
- 14:30plug in again, but just take a moment to make that adjustment,
- 14:36allowing your unconscious mind to effortlessly restore it to
- 14:43its original, fully working state.
- 14:50And when you felt that you've reset that faulty sensor, just
- 14:56let me know by nodding your head.
- 15:02That's it. And if it takes minutes, hours,
- 15:06or even a few days to update the factory settings, that's fine.
- 15:12Allow your mind to work at its own pace or you may already feel
- 15:21a sense of relief, already start to feel balance returning and
- 15:30knowing that deep inside that your body is functioning as it
- 15:34should. That either now or very shortly
- 15:38this sensor is working perfectly.
- 15:46And if there is any lingering sensations, I want you to get a
- 15:51sense that it probably has a message for you.
- 15:59I want you to think that if a human could only talk to you in
- 16:07a language you didn't understand, that would be
- 16:12frustrating for you and frustrating for them.
- 16:18What if they had something really important you needed to
- 16:21hear, but you didn't understand their language?
- 16:30There are some languages in the world that have whistles and
- 16:34clicks. If they had something important
- 16:40to tell you, the whistles and clicks might go on for longer,
- 16:48perhaps days or weeks, but you would never understand the
- 16:52message. Sometimes there may have been a
- 16:58problem with some technology you've bought.
- 17:04Maybe you read the manual, but it's in a different language.
- 17:09How can you fix the problem if you can't understand the
- 17:13message? I want you to get a sense that
- 17:23you're going to give the cause of this sensation of voice.
- 17:31Consider it an upgrade to the software, but give it a voice
- 17:39that works for you. Maybe a voice that is wise,
- 17:45kind, or encouraging. Think of a voice right now, just
- 17:53to test it out. If the sensation is there,
- 18:00imagine the voice coming from that sensation.
- 18:05Maybe a wise old voice, or a kind, caring voice.
- 18:10And when it has that voice, it means that you can have a
- 18:17conversation. What does this sensation want
- 18:23you to know? What's it trying to do for you?
- 18:31Maybe it's been trying to get your attention for something
- 18:34important. You couldn't decipher it before,
- 18:39but you can now, now that it has a voice and your language.
- 18:48So listen. Be curious.
- 18:53Whenever the sensation is there. Perhaps it wants to communicate
- 18:59something important. What if this is a superpower
- 19:04rather than a curse? Maybe it's asking you to slow
- 19:09down, to take better care of yourself, or to trust in your
- 19:16own body more deeply. Give it a platform to
- 19:23communicate what it would like from you.
- 19:28And whatever that message is, whether you hear it now or in
- 19:37the future, you can listen. By listening, you let that part
- 19:49that created this sensation know that you've heard it.
- 19:57If you ignore the message, the sensations will continue.
- 20:03But what if you listen and make a change and the sensations go
- 20:12away? Then you would know that if they
- 20:16ever return, it's an opportunity for you to make a shift.
- 20:26Because whether it's now or in the future, the moment you
- 20:30understand its purpose, the sensation no longer needs to
- 20:34persist. It's done its job, and then it
- 20:40can fade away, leaving you free, comfortable and at ease.
- 20:49And you get to decide the narrative from this moment
- 20:53forward. Every time you think about this
- 20:56sensation, you get to decide if you think of it as a faulty
- 21:02reading or a message you couldn't quite understand.
- 21:08But now that it's been recalibrated, your body will
- 21:13respond in the right way at the right times.
- 21:19And if the sensation comes back again, what if it wants to
- 21:26communicate something important that you need to hear?
- 21:33That when you heed the message and take the action, the trigger
- 21:40for the message is no longer needed.
- 21:44The body will respond in the right way at the right times.
- 21:50And if a catalyst for change is needed, doesn't that just
- 21:55enhance the quality of your life?
- 22:00And don't be surprised with each passing day that you notice a
- 22:05growing sense of confidence and acceptance in your body, a
- 22:10deeper trust, a feeling of ever increasing comfort and ease.
- 22:20In fact, thank that part. Thank that sensation.
- 22:25It wants good things for you. And as you listen and
- 22:31recalibrate, your life gets better.
- 22:37It's time to leave this control room.
- 22:38But as you leave the control room, notice 3 dials enthusiasm,
- 22:48motivation, and optimism. And why not just increase them
- 22:56all up a few notches on the dial before you leave the control
- 23:01room anyway? Just increase them a few notches
- 23:07and feel that your life will get better.
- 23:18Start to leave that place and start to return to the here and
- 23:22the now. So take a deep breath in through
- 23:27your nose and out through your nose.
- 23:33Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 23:35Start to calibrate into the here and the now feeling that a
- 23:40faulty sensor has been reset and a new communication channel has
- 23:45been introduced, giving you multiple ways to move towards a
- 23:54better life with less of a particular sensation.
- 23:59Starting to count 123 waking up 456 More alert 7-8 Open your
