Transcript
- 0:00Today's episode is brought to you by mean people who truly enjoy making people
- 0:05sad because sometimes it's truly unthinkable.
- 0:09If Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12-hour news story.
- 0:14The idea that it would have taken down a presidency is crazy. J.D. Vance.
- 0:19Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I gave you the news and made me a laugh.
- 0:24I'm Lindsay Vernick and today is July 1st, 2026.
- 0:29Oh my god, I cannot believe I just said July. Like that's so crazy.
- 0:33This year is seriously flying.
- 0:35I know I say that like literally every day, but make sure that you are staying
- 0:39hydrated today and are drinking lots of water and maybe putting some electrolytes in your drink and,
- 0:48yeah, wearing sunscreen and maybe just like staying indoors the whole day.
- 0:52So in real news, remember Trump's great American state fair?
- 0:57I talked a little bit about it on Monday.
- 1:00Well, it's having a very bad week. So if you're having one, maybe this will make you feel better.
- 1:07So the festival has now had two weather delays, and one of them forced the headliner
- 1:12Vanilla Ice to cancel his whole performance because he couldn't fit it into his schedule.
- 1:18And it's kind of a bad sign if vanilla ice is not even coming anymore because
- 1:23he can't put it into his schedule.
- 1:26People are saying that attendance is very underwhelming.
- 1:30The food has been very expensive and there's been some questionable attractions.
- 1:36And also, there was a power outage that caused all of the ice cream in the food hall to melt.
- 1:42And then to top all this off, Press Secretary Caroline Levitt posted a family
- 1:47photo from the fair, and the whole background was the fair, and it was very,
- 1:52very empty, and everyone online obviously noticed very quickly.
- 1:57I'm not sure if this fair could get any worse, but let's see.
- 2:03So how much would you pay to get a ticket for Wimbledon?
- 2:0650 bucks? 100? Maybe a few hundred? while this week two center court tickets
- 2:13sold for 586,000 pounds that's about 800,000 u.s dollars,
- 2:21this is for two seats now technically they aren't normal tickets they're called
- 2:26debentures which are basically vip seat licenses that come with five years of
- 2:32access to center court and can legally be were sold.
- 2:36Still, for that price, you could, like, literally buy a house in Manhattan.
- 2:42Imagine spending almost a million dollars for you and someone else to go and politely clap.
- 2:49So it turns out that being king doesn't automatically mean that you live in Buckingham Palace.
- 2:56King Charles and Queen Camilla have no plans to move into Buckingham Palace,
- 3:01even after the massive renovation is finished.
- 3:05Instead, they're going to be living at this place called Clarence House,
- 3:07where they've lived for years.
- 3:10Imagine spending billions renovating your house and then saying,
- 3:14you know what, I actually like my old place.
- 3:16Buckingham House is getting new electrical wiring, plumbing,
- 3:20elevators, and enough upgrades.
- 3:22It's basically the HDTV version of our royal makeover.
- 3:26I mean, it is a little bit relatable. We've all looked at Zillow and thought,
- 3:31wow, that place is gorgeous, but I don't feel like packing.
- 3:35But the difference is, when I don't move, it's because it's very expensive.
- 3:40But when the king doesn't move, it's because Buckingham Palace is just apparently too much house.
- 3:46They're not really downsizing by moving in. They're literally just admitting
- 3:50that nobody needs 775 rooms.
- 3:55And Lindsay Life. So I was debating on telling two different stories that happened
- 4:01to me yesterday, and I decided to tell them both because this really paints
- 4:07the picture of what it is to be me.
- 4:11So yesterday, as I said, I was working on this HGTV show. I'm one of the producers
- 4:16for it, and it's with a bunch of celebrities, and I got to make a little cameo
- 4:21in the show. I'll let you know when the show airs and hopefully my scene makes it.
- 4:26But I was delivering pizza to the cast in character and I got to do some improv
- 4:33with some actors who actually do improv.
- 4:36And it was really cool because I have been in improv now for the past six months or so.
- 4:43So it was really cool to actually like do it like on camera with actual actors who do improv.
- 4:50And then later in the day, I was on the phone with unemployment,
- 4:55historically crying, and people were probably looking at me like I was delusional
- 5:00in the middle of a random New Jersey target.
- 5:03Yeah, so the highs are high, but the lows are low. And that's Lindsay life.
- 5:08Things I'm thinking about.
- 5:10How I wish when somebody said something, like invited me to something that I
- 5:15really didn't want to do, or just like anything in general, instead of saying I can't go and lying.
- 5:22I literally wish I could just say I wish I could go but I just don't want to,
- 5:28Cooking tip of the day If you didn't make it then you should only compliment it,
- 5:32Unless you paid for it That's a different story Feedback, comments,
- 5:36questions A nice Jewish by looking for a date Email me at lindsay at thedailystarcast.com
- 5:41Thanks so much for listening Have a great day and I'll talk to you guys tomorrow.
