- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, Demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam Smith in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40You might be. Surprised to learn just how many
- 0:43people are carrying around. The shame of something traumatic
- 0:49that happened in their past. And this is quite a surprising
- 0:54thing for a lot of people, because if someone experiences
- 0:57trauma and someone else was a perpetrator or instigator, then
- 1:02really the shame should belong to the person that caused it.
- 1:06But more often than not it doesn't work that way and
- 1:09actually the person that was the victim or on the receiving end
- 1:13of something that was not correct, wrong, even abusive,
- 1:17ends up carrying the shame. And they can.
- 1:20Carry that shame throughout their whole life and this
- 1:23session is all about. Really.
- 1:25Releasing some of the shame of the past, particularly if it's
- 1:30related to something traumatic, could be from childhood or it
- 1:34could be something more recent. So if you can connect to the
- 1:38idea of any shame within you, connected to something whether
- 1:42it was traumatic or not, then I think you're going to get some
- 1:45value from this hypnosis session.
- 1:48Just be aware it was a session recorded for a very specific
- 1:53individual and some of the references that might relate to
- 1:56their past might not be at all relevant for you, so just
- 2:00disregard any suggestions. That aren't quite right for you?
- 2:03But really listen to those suggestions that might be
- 2:06useful, particularly about releasing shame.
- 2:10And for many people, the opposite of shame isn't, you
- 2:13know, kind of this feeling of being completely unshakable or
- 2:18unbothered. But it can really be pride and
- 2:21it can really be self-confidence.
- 2:23So if you're proud about who you are, then actually that ends up
- 2:26being a more useful resource than being ashamed, embarrassed
- 2:31and playing small. So if you can connect to this
- 2:34idea, then I would encourage you to find a quiet, comfortable
- 2:38place where you're not going to be disturbed, Relax and enjoy
- 2:41the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 3:43you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 3:49relaxation. And as you exhale, feel a sense
- 3:56of release, as if any stress and tension is slowly leaving your
- 4:01body in your outward breath. As you continue to breathe in
- 4:08that resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation and feel that
- 4:16wonderful feeling of release. And maybe you can scan your body
- 4:25for any clues of stress or tension.
- 4:28Sometimes it's around your forehead, your jaw, your neck,
- 4:33or your shoulders. And just feel that you're
- 4:38breathing in so much resourcefulness and so much
- 4:44relaxation that that stress and tension is just melting away,
- 4:54giving you that feeling of drifting deeper and deeper down.
- 5:05And I want you to think of a place in nature, a place where
- 5:10you felt at your most calm and relaxed.
- 5:16And maybe on a beach staring into the waves, or perhaps in a
- 5:21forest hearing the breeze through the trees.
- 5:27But just allow your imagination to take you to a place that
- 5:33helps you to feel more and more relaxed.
- 5:44And I want you to imagine the most comfortable bed in that
- 5:49place in nature. Imagine a comfortable bed, a
- 5:54soft pillow. Just imagine placing yourself in
- 6:01a comfortable position there on that bed in nature.
- 6:07Then breathe in, and as you exhale, feel your body letting
- 6:14go. That's right, with every breath,
- 6:20allow the muscles in your shoulders to release, your jaw
- 6:25to unclench, and your mind to begin drifting, breathing in
- 6:32calm and breathing out any tension you don't need.
- 6:43And you can imagine that with each breath you are drifting
- 6:48deeper into a place of peace, where every inhale is bringing
- 6:56clarity at every exhale, taking you further and further down,
- 7:05deeper down into pure relaxation.
- 7:12And they're on that bed in that place in nature.
- 7:17You may begin to notice that your arms and legs may feel
- 7:22heavier or more relaxed or looser, or maybe the opposite,
- 7:28lighter, a floaty sensation or sinking deep into the mattress.
- 7:37And you don't need to make that happen.
- 7:44Just breathe in and breathe out and be open to different
- 7:49sensations. And any changes are simply the
- 7:56sign that you're beginning to enter this in a world where
- 8:04changes can happen faster and happen naturally.
- 8:15And very soon I'm going to countdown from 5 to 1.
- 8:19And I want you to imagine that you're drifting off into a
- 8:25dreamlike sleep on that bed, in that place in nature.
- 8:32And with each descending number, feel a sense of letting go. 5
- 8:41Releasing the tension in the face. 4 Anything connected to
- 8:48breath feels effortless. 3 Your arms and legs feel limp, loose
- 8:55and heavy like the limbs of a puppet with no strings.
- 9:02And two, your internal organs start to relax.
- 9:08And one, just allow everything connected to your sympathetic
- 9:14nervous system to just dial down and calm as you imagine entering
- 9:24that dream like sleep. And in that dream, I want you to
- 9:32imagine standing in front of a large, heavy bag.
- 9:45And I want you to imagine that everything in this particular
- 9:48bag are all the difficult things that you've gone through, any
- 9:55shaming, any judgement, any bullying, any things that you
- 10:04regret. But if you could go back in
- 10:07time, you would do something different, but particularly the
- 10:14shame. And I want you to imagine trying
- 10:21to lift this heavy bag up and just feeling the weight of it
- 10:27all. And here in your imagination,
- 10:32you're not carrying it because you've carried it long enough.
- 10:41And what if now is the time to let it go?
- 10:47That you can retain the wisdom, the knowledge and the
- 10:51experiences so that any shame, any guilt is now useful to shift
- 11:02your future choices. But I want you to feel that the
- 11:10actual moments are your past. The historical shame is not
- 11:18directed at who you are now, it's directed at who you were.
- 11:27So attempt to pick up that big heavy bag again and just notice
- 11:34how cumbersome, how draining, how much effort it feels.
- 11:44Every oz, kilo, pound and gram of shame, every memory of being
- 11:52treated unfairly, every voice of criticism or self blame,
- 12:01including yourself. And notice now that the version
- 12:09of you who carried that bag for all of these years is no longer
- 12:15who you are today, that version of you who survived.
- 12:27Because not everyone goes through what you've gone through
- 12:33and survives. Which means you are not a
- 12:38victim. You are a survivor, and as a
- 12:44survivor you get to release all of the baggage of your past.
- 12:54And I want you to imagine a clifftop, and I want you to
- 13:01imagine that you have just enough strength to carry that
- 13:07big heavy bag and to drop it over the edge of that Cliff.
- 13:19And at the bottom on the beach below is a great cleansing fire.
- 13:28And as you bring that heavy bag to the edge of that Cliff,
- 13:35notice how ready you are to be free.
- 13:41You can drop that bag over the edge into the fire and just
- 13:48watch as it burns away. And now do that.
- 13:55Now release it. See it fall into the flames, and
- 14:02notice the shame dissolving. The pain dissolves, the burden
- 14:11dissolves, and all that remains is the wisdom you've gained.
- 14:21And one of the clues of wisdom is that when you think back to
- 14:25the memory, you don't feel like you're re experiencing it.
- 14:32You feel like you're observing it.
- 14:36Because as an observer, the emotions aren't yours, just the
- 14:43lessons and the wisdom. And as the smoke rises into the
- 14:50sky, know this truth. The shame belonged to who you
- 14:58were, not who you are now, and certainly not who you are
- 15:07becoming. So imagine feeling your
- 15:10shoulders become lighter and looser, feel your body freer,
- 15:18and feel your heart more open. And in the space where shame
- 15:25once lived, I want you to notice a new energy forming.
- 15:35The energy of resilience, the glow of clarity.
- 15:42The strength of personal pride. Pride in being a survivor.
- 15:51Pride in recovering again and again.
- 15:57Pride in becoming stronger, wiser, and more resourceful.
- 16:06And with every breath, the light expands through your body.
- 16:15Feel that you're replacing shame with strength, replacing regret
- 16:24with motivation, and replacing heaviness with freedom.
- 16:36And then high up above where the Cliff edge was, I want you to
- 16:40imagine seeing a large cinema screen.
- 16:47And you can still hear the bag burning in the fire below there
- 16:57on the beach, there at the bottom of the Cliff face and
- 17:04above that is this cinema screen.
- 17:07And I wonder if you could imagine yourself in your future.
- 17:13That could be days or weeks or even months ahead.
- 17:18But I want you to notice what you look like without the shame.
- 17:24If anyone ever brings up anything of your past, you can
- 17:29own it because you know that you were changed by it.
- 17:39You get to keep the wisdom and let go of the shame and
- 17:45therefore it can't be used to hurt you.
- 17:49And I want you to see yourself facing life's challenges with
- 17:52resilience. See yourself clear minded and
- 17:58strong and motivated to do what needs to be done.
- 18:06But most of all, see yourself free from all that baggage of
- 18:11the past and enlightened and empowered to live fully in the
- 18:20present. And see that version of you
- 18:27staring into a full length mirror.
- 18:31And see that version of you looking in the mirror with
- 18:33pride, because that version of you knows that you are not
- 18:39defined by what happened to you, but by how you rose beyond it,
- 18:48how you evolved through it. And then step into that version
- 18:53of you, that future version of you, where the shame is in your
- 18:57past and the pride is in the present and feel that pride now.
- 19:06You are a survivor, you are wise, you are capable, and
- 19:14everything that you've gone through did not break you.
- 19:19It made you stronger to feel that resourcefulness now as you
- 19:27look at yourself in the mirror, that freedom now, and get a
- 19:34sense that this is your new identity, the empowered
- 19:42survivor, not the version of you that was broken and ashamed.
- 19:49That's your past, and you are not your past.
- 19:57So imagine being back in that bed, in that place in nature.
- 20:03But float yourself back on that same bed all the way to where
- 20:06you are right now as you start to connect and calibrate into
- 20:11the here and the now. So take a deep breath in through
- 20:16your nose and out through your nose.
- 20:22Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes as you connect
- 20:27and calibrate into the here and the now.
- 20:32But as I count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you, you will
- 20:36recall that the shame is now in your past and the wisdom,
- 20:40clarity and pride is in your present.
- 20:45Starting to count. 123 Waking up 456.
- 20:51More alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 20:54Open your eyes. 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 21:00awake. Thank.
