- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Do you ever find yourself daydreaming a little bit too
- 0:43much? Maybe you take yourself off into
- 0:46a world where the problems of your life don't exist, and maybe
- 0:50things you didn't get to do in your life, you get to do in this
- 0:53imaginary world. It's Adam here and I was working
- 0:56with a client that felt quite isolated and they felt that they
- 1:02would drift off into not just daydreaming, but daydreaming
- 1:06where they were the hero in their own story.
- 1:09And part of this came from just a natural reaction from their
- 1:14circumstances. Work was quite repetitive or
- 1:17mundane and they felt quite isolated and this would give
- 1:21them a. Lot of their.
- 1:23Key emotional needs. And the client originally felt
- 1:26that they had a problem and that problem was they were
- 1:30maladaptive daydreaming. They were daydreaming to excess
- 1:34and it was becoming a real problem and there was an element
- 1:37of truth to that. Because they were.
- 1:39Dreaming or daydreaming for hours on end at the expense of
- 1:42doing other things in their life, that's when it becomes a
- 1:45problem. But the actual nature of
- 1:49daydreaming, I think in can be a very powerful thing.
- 1:53So the essence of this hypnosis session is to frame daydreaming
- 1:58as actually just a very useful recreational activity that can
- 2:03actually give a lot of value in small amounts daydreaming.
- 2:08And I use the parallel in this hypnosis session of reading a
- 2:11book. If you read a fiction book, for
- 2:13example, that is in many cases exactly the same thing.
- 2:18You're just creating your imagination around the narrative
- 2:20and the story. Of the book.
- 2:22And if someone reads a book for two hours a day, nobody has an
- 2:25issue with that. But if they read the book for 12
- 2:28hours a day, and that means they spend less time with family and
- 2:31they can't get their work done and it starts interrupting their
- 2:34sleep, well then even reading a book can be a problem.
- 2:37So what it gives? A positive frame.
- 2:39It gives a metaphor of moderation and balance.
- 2:43And then finally, we add this element of harnessing.
- 2:47And I said to the client during the session, how much time do
- 2:50you think JK Rowling spent, you know, daydreaming about the
- 2:54Harry Potter universe? And she smiled and she said
- 2:58hours, probably. Days, weeks, months, like in
- 3:01that place. And of course, she must have
- 3:03done in order to create a story like, yeah, that you have to
- 3:05spend a lot of time in that world, but she became the
- 3:09world's. Best selling.
- 3:10Fiction writer directly. As a result.
- 3:14Spending a lot of time in their imagination.
- 3:18Therefore, the final part of this is having the suggestion
- 3:22that they can harness their imagination.
- 3:24That they can start brain dumping and writing down what
- 3:27they daydreamed about. Because who knows, that might
- 3:30turn into. Stories or ideas or things?
- 3:34That could help other people. If you have maladaptive
- 3:38daydreaming, I would say there is two circumstances where it
- 3:42becomes an issue that makes sense to work on.
- 3:45Otherwise, you know, there's no harm.
- 3:47If you're doing it to excess. That it starts affecting your
- 3:50day-to-day life, then it becomes a problem.
- 3:53And secondly, if you're starting to not be able to distinguish
- 3:57between reality and what you're daydreaming, if they start
- 4:00blurring into two, then it makes sense to get help.
- 4:03But if you're just daydreaming and it's just a fun thing that
- 4:06you do and it kind of is a mild form of escapism, who cares?
- 4:09Just do that so long as it doesn't interrupt or affect your
- 4:13life. This was created for an
- 4:15individual client, so if you do like the idea of working with me
- 4:18directly to help with whatever your situation is, there will be
- 4:21a link in the description to do that.
- 4:26For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 4:28won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:58Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 5:06wonderful feeling of calm and as you exhale, give permission to
- 5:13release any tensions, stress, worries of the day.
- 5:19Just allow it to leave your body as you breathe out, breathing in
- 5:27that resourceful relaxation, and scan your body for any clues or
- 5:34echoes of tension and give permission to release them,
- 5:40feeling what it would feel like to feel that tension leaving
- 5:44your body in that outward breath.
- 5:51I don't want you to become aware of any tension in your forehead,
- 5:54jaw, neck, or shoulders. And as you breathe in, allow
- 6:01that relaxation to melt away that tension.
- 6:05And as you breathe out, become increasingly aware of that
- 6:10tension being released. Start to imagine your head like
- 6:16it's a helium balloon, effortlessly floating just there
- 6:21on a string. No need for muscle tension to
- 6:26keep your head in that position as you feel a ripple of
- 6:31relaxation starting from the top of your head and going down down
- 6:37your forehead, your eyelids, your cheeks and your jaw, down
- 6:42into your neck and your shoulders.
- 6:45And then imagine what it would feel like for your arms to just
- 6:53let go of any feeling of tension or stress.
- 6:59Almost like your arms are the limbs of a puppet with no
- 7:04strings. Limp, loose, heavy.
- 7:11Allow your breathing to slow down now as you breathe in for
- 7:18longer and exhale for longer, each breath taking you deeper
- 7:30and deeper. Relaxed now, and I wonder if you
- 7:41can awaken the part of your imagination that lights to
- 7:49Daydream. And I want you to Daydream that
- 7:53you're back there in a childhood home with endless books to
- 8:00choose from. And I want you to imagine there
- 8:05is a book that describes a forest with lots of soft Moss
- 8:16there on the floor of the forest.
- 8:20And I want you to imagine, as you turn the pages and read the
- 8:24words, that your imagination can teleport you into whatever
- 8:30you're reading. Because that's how it was.
- 8:36Books became a portal into your 4 dimensional imagination
- 8:46experiencing world. That didn't existed.
- 8:50And going on adventures as if they were your own, as you
- 8:56imagine reading about that forest with the soft bed of Moss
- 9:03on the floor. Imagine you're there in that
- 9:07forest, wearing whatever clothing is appropriate to be
- 9:13exploring that forest. That's it.
- 9:19And there will be clues, of course.
- 9:26A forest like that has a distinctive smell.
- 9:31The sounds, breeze through the leaves.
- 9:36Forest animals, they're in the distance, the occasional beam of
- 9:42sunshine going through the canopy of the forest.
- 9:47But I want you to imagine discovering a place within the
- 9:51forest, less trees and more Moss, like a clearing.
- 9:59And I want you to imagine, instead of just the Moss being
- 10:04there on the ground, imagine that soft Moss forming what
- 10:11looks remarkably like a bed, a bed of soft Moss.
- 10:19As you approach the bed, imagine being barefooted, feeling how
- 10:26soft the Moss is beneath your feet.
- 10:30That's cool, refreshing. And just imagine what it would
- 10:37feel like to lie down on that bed of soft Moss there in the
- 10:47forest, the forest, within your imagination, within a book, also
- 10:58within your imagination. That's it.
- 11:05Feeling deeper and deeper, relaxed.
- 11:12And very soon I will count from 12:50 while you're lying on that
- 11:18bed of soft Moss, and you will drift even deeper into your
- 11:24imagination to a place where change happens naturally. 10
- 11:32Feeling your muscles loosen. 9 Your thoughts slowing down, 8
- 11:39feeling safe, and 7 peaceful. 6 awakening curiosity. 5 Feeling
- 11:51relaxed now, and as you continue you drift through 432 and 1
- 12:00deeply relaxed now, eyes closed in the forest, feeling safe,
- 12:07protected and aligned, open to a new way of relating to your
- 12:15imagination. And in this calm place within
- 12:25your mind, I want you to drift off into a dream.
- 12:32A world of pure imagination, maybe a familiar world that
- 12:38you've been to many times. Your world shaped by creativity,
- 12:43curiosity, and emotion. A place where stories are born,
- 12:50where dreams become real, and where inspiration and insight
- 12:56live. And this is an infinite world
- 13:04that may seem like reality but doesn't become bound by the laws
- 13:10of reality. Time can move faster or slower.
- 13:15Here you can take your own perspective, but also someone
- 13:21else's. You can create multiple
- 13:25timelines, different versions of you experiencing different
- 13:30connotations. Iterations explore every
- 13:34decision and all its possibilities.
- 13:41And this world is powerful, just like sunlight.
- 13:48It can help things grow, but too much sunlight for too long can
- 13:54dry the earth and turn once forests into deserts.
- 14:02And I want you to turn what you already know into a feeling that
- 14:09balance is the key. Your mind knows how to dream, to
- 14:20explore, to create and even escape.
- 14:25But what if your unconscious is learning to harness that ability
- 14:32to guide it, To make your powerful imagination your ally
- 14:38rather than your escape? And just as reading a wonderful
- 14:46fiction book can teleport you to another world, it's best enjoyed
- 14:53in healthy portions. And while two hours of reading
- 14:59may enrich your life, 12 hours a day could mean missing out on
- 15:05life itself. And I wonder what would happen
- 15:12if you decided to create a boundary to give yourself a gift
- 15:19of two sacred hours of daydreaming each day.
- 15:25You decide when but two hours to explore, to imagine, to live
- 15:34within your inner worlds. What if this time becomes your
- 15:40creative playground, recreational time for your
- 15:45imagination? And you get to decide how you do
- 15:51this. Maybe resting on your bed or
- 15:55pacing around your home, allowing your thoughts to drift
- 16:00like clouds, knowing that after those two hours, you get to
- 16:07return to your outer world refreshed, recharged and even
- 16:15more connected to life around you.
- 16:19Daydreaming enhances your life, does not replace or substitute
- 16:26it. Because your imagination is a
- 16:30gift. And like all gifts, it can
- 16:36become more valuable when shared.
- 16:43Allow your imagination to take you to a coffee shop somewhere
- 16:49in a city in Scotland. And I want you to see a lady by
- 16:56herself, and although she's typing into a laptop, you can
- 17:03tell from that glazed look in her eyes that she's actually
- 17:09somewhere else. I want you to imagine a talented
- 17:14author spending hours in imaginary worlds, but harnessing
- 17:26all of those thoughts, ideas, stories, and characters and
- 17:31turning them into a manuscript, not knowing that years later
- 17:40that private universe could evolve into something that
- 17:44inspired millions. And you can't help but feel that
- 17:53the very reason you're daydreaming is helping you means
- 18:00it could also help someone else. With 8 billion people in the
- 18:07world, there might be other people feeling that they are
- 18:17disconnected, certain childhood dreams no longer possible,
- 18:27certain realities of life monotonous or mundane.
- 18:33And what if you have a gift that you can harness your imagination
- 18:41to help other people that can't do what you can do intuitively
- 18:47and naturally? I want you to feel that you can
- 18:53experience your inner world, but you can also harness the power
- 18:59of those worlds and just imagine if after your daydreams, you
- 19:07give yourself a window of time to capture what you've
- 19:10experienced. Consider it a brain dump of
- 19:16inspiration, turning dreams into ideas, scenarios into a script,
- 19:24ideas into worlds, and maybe one day words into stories that
- 19:32touch the lives and impact others.
- 19:38And you're not doing this for any other reason.
- 19:44Then what if analysing, harnessing and writing down your
- 19:50daydreams enriches your daydreams?
- 19:55What if your reflections lead to new ideas that then take you on
- 20:00even more magnificent adventures?
- 20:05See, you have permission to write freely, with no pressure.
- 20:09A stream of consciousness, a flow from imagination to words
- 20:16on a page. And as you do, you're
- 20:21unconscious. Learn something powerful.
- 20:25What if imagination is not an escape from life, but a bridge
- 20:30between what is and what could be?
- 20:38Start to feel a sense of empowerment more.
- 20:43What if this is not maladaptive but simply adaptive, A
- 20:50realization that your imagination is your creation.
- 20:55You decide when to enter those worlds and when to return, and
- 21:01you decide how much time to spend there.
- 21:06And this decision gives you freedom, not restriction,
- 21:11allowing your daydreams to enrich your life, to add colour
- 21:17and meaning without ever draining your time or energy.
- 21:24But you are the creator and the custodian.
- 21:31You choose your boundaries, but also enforce them.
- 21:36And from this point forwards that part of you that seeks
- 21:42balance, that knows how to draw a line in the sand, when to do
- 21:51something and when not to. That discipline frees you to
- 22:00indulge in something without guilt, without judgement,
- 22:05without shame. Just pure escapism and
- 22:10imagination. Now I want you to imagine
- 22:16yourself in the days and weeks ahead, living with this New
- 22:20Balance. Imagine seeing yourself
- 22:24honouring those two hours of imaginative play each day.
- 22:31It may even be a time you look forward to, a time that
- 22:35energizes and uplifts you. And afterwards you sit down,
- 22:42perhaps pen in hand or fingers on the keyboard.
- 22:47Observe yourself with that stream of consciousness, letting
- 22:50your thoughts pour out freely, stories, fragments, feelings,
- 22:56insights, characters, situations, scenarios,
- 23:02transforming imagination into something real and useful.
- 23:09And you notice that version of you.
- 23:14It seems like your mind is clearer, your focus sharper,
- 23:19your relationships richer, and then see yourself further in the
- 23:24future, your work more meaningful and more impactful,
- 23:32because that future version of you has drawn a clear boundary,
- 23:37one that empowers you rather than restricts you.
- 23:44You've tamed the tiger and now you still get to gain adventure,
- 23:52excitement and escapism, but now in manageable doses.
- 23:59You may like chocolate or ice cream, but if that's the only
- 24:04thing you eat, life gets worse. So imagine that your inner world
- 24:10enhances your outer life in the right measures, and your outer
- 24:16life then feeds your imagination, a wonderful
- 24:20flywheel of never ending inspiration, a beautiful cycle
- 24:27of creativity, alignment and purpose.
- 24:34And you might smile as you imagine, perhaps months or even
- 24:37years from now, holding something that you've written, a
- 24:43story, a reflection, some kind of art that came from your
- 24:52imagination, a creation born from your daydreams.
- 24:58And imagine that that inspires someone else to explore their
- 25:03own imagination. Because when imagination is
- 25:08balanced, it doesn't just enrich your world, it can ripple
- 25:15through space and time and impact the world around you too.
- 25:22Imagine emerging from that dreamlike sleep there on the
- 25:26Moss, and then imagine walking out of the forest.
- 25:33And then imagine holding a book describing the forest.
- 25:38And then imagine floating all the way back to your present,
- 25:44taking this new frame, this new meaning, this new boundary, and
- 25:48this new realization with you. Take a deep breath in through
- 25:54your nose and out through your nose.
- 26:00Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes.
- 26:03Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 26:09from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 26:13Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 26:22Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 26:25Wide awake. Wide awake.
