- Jessica Figueroa: Good morning. My name is Cindy Marlar, and this is the Just For Today podcast, where we spend time every day just getting better. So today we are going to learn about a new country. But you get to pick the new country. But here's something interesting. When the UN was established in 1945, there were just 51 founding member states. So in 1945, when the United Nations was established, only 51 founding members were involved. And now today the total is 195, which is 193 UN members plus two permanent observer states. Okay. So we have that's like quadruple the amount of countries there were since 1945. But we want to be people who are just aware of the global world we live in, not the state, not the country. But let's just be aware, especially those of us in the United States of America. We have a reputation for being quite ignorant of what's going around on around the world. So today we're gonna learn something new about another country. So you can Google it, you can chat it, you can clot it, whatever you'd like. But I'd like you to look up a country, find it on a map, learn something interesting about it, and then just be like, ⁓ huh. Like your own life bulb moment about one of these countries. Because with 195 countries, that's just in the United Nations. Okay, that's just there. That's not total in the world. There's could be you know, the ones that aren't a part of the United Nations. So we are going to just learn something. That's it. Just learn something because we live in the whole world, not just our country, not just our state, not just our city, not just our town, or not just our county. We live in this whole world. This planet is a part that we are a part of. So we're gonna learn something new about that today. Just for today, we're going to go to geography class. So Get your Google chat out. Share in the comments what you learned about a new country or something. The decolonization of Africa and Asia ended up with a lot of like little new countries. But all these little countries, guys, how cool. They're creating something. They're starting something. Imagine the excitement when the United States of America was becoming a country. That's what it is, this feeling for these people, too. So that's out there happening today. We are becoming more well-rounded. Better global citizens here on the Just For Today podcast. And I will see you guys tomorrow.
