- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you believe you're an impatient person, you're always an act impatient.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_01]: If you believe that you are an irritable person, you are always gonna act irritable.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: Cause it's not like, okay, it's not like you actively think this situation happens.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to do this.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like you, your brain is like, oh, I'm this.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: So therefore I act this way.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: There's no like long processing, like all these, you know, skipping,
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: skipping things.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_01]: We like our brain is likes to be quick.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: And so we literally have to change the way that we view ourselves.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: We need to be like, okay, I'm a person who prioritizes my health and fitness.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you truly believe that to be true about yourself, then you will do the actions that are showing that.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the Bond Life Podcast where fitness, vines, and real talk collide.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_03]: This is it just about workouts.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_03]: It's about transforming your body, mind, and life.

- 1:19[SPEAKER_03]: Hey everyone, welcome to the bomb life podcast.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: I am Melissa Vogel, your host and welcome to the show.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_03]: Tomorrow is fourth of July.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_03]: I'm really excited that we get this episode out before the fourth of July hits because it's just it's going to have you thinking.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully that you'll go into the July fourth weekend with a different mindset.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_03]: about your health and it's crazy.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_03]: I said this, I don't know, a couple episodes ago of how many people get into trouble in the summer months, like more in the summer months than they do during the holiday season.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_03]: And it's because, you know, we're out drinking more picnics vacation, you know, all that stuff.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_03]: And there's so much like just crap in our diet right now.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_03]: We eat out of a package and we're like grabbing snacks and stuff.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_03]: And I hope this episode kind of changes your outlook on how you celebrate this weekend.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_03]: I hope you're just a little bit more mindful because today's guest is like incredible.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_03]: And we're diving all into your metabolism and monopause and how much it's all affected and how it all comes together.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_03]: And I've telling you right now every single decision that you make matters.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not even joking.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_03]: Every time you pick up a glass of alcohol, it's a neurotoxin.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_03]: It's affecting your hormones.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: It's going to have an impact.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_03]: on your day and your week and your hormones.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_03]: And I just feel like we could not talk about this topic enough.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_03]: We cannot discuss menopause, hormones, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, like all of it.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: We just can't.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_03]: We can't talk enough about it.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_03]: I can't do enough episodes on this topic because we need to hear from every single expert.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_03]: We need to take in everyone's opinion.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_03]: and just keep moving forward with our health the best way that we can.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm telling you right now, sitting there and doing nothing, especially after you heard this episode, that's not the answer.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_03]: Doing nothing, deciding to not decide is deciding.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_03]: It's deciding to not do anything.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_03]: I say that all the time.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure my kids are probably sick of me saying that, but not doing anything you are making in decision.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_03]: You're just prolonging where you're at.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_03]: And the guest and I say this in the episode about how it's so crazy how people will just sit in discomfort for as long as they can until it gets to a point where they're like, I don't even have a choice anymore.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: I can't sit here and do nothing anymore.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_03]: That's like not even option because I am now pre-diabetic or my hormones are so out of control.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_03]: I've literally put on thirty pounds in the last like two months.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_03]: I saw that happen.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_03]: The other week with someone that I had a phone call with, fifteen pounds each month and she's like, I can't keep doing this.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, no, you need to put a hard stop in place.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: So this episode is great.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: It's funny.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_03]: We were laughing.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_03]: The conversation just flows because our guests is like so amazing.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_03]: I have to introduce her.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: So her name is Stephanie Crasweller and she is a leading expert in women's hormones and metabolism.

- 4:35[SPEAKER_03]: She gives women not only the tools to transform their health, but the hope and the confidence to thrive in every stage of life.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm talking about.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_03]: That's what it's all about.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: It's the hope.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I am so glad that I have sisters like this out in the world that will come on the podcast and keep these conversations going.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_03]: I hope one of you listens to this episode today and goes,
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god they're talking about me like that's me.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: She just described me and it wakes you up.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_03]: I can't tell you how many episodes there have been that just spoke to someone and then they send me an email or a DM and they're like oh my god Melissa it was episode a hundred and sixty nine that changed my life.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_03]: It was episode two.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_03]: One that it did something and it turned on the light and I think this episode is going to do that for so many of you too.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_03]: And that's okay, it's okay that you made it all to episode two hundred and what is a seventy nine I think it's okay that it took you two hundred seventy nine episodes to listen to me and then the light bulb switch goes on you never know when you're gonna get the message that means the most to you and at what stage in your life as long as you listen and if this episode didn't do it for you that's okay maybe you'll see a real that I made maybe you'll see me on YouTube maybe your friend will say something to you and it just makes something click and you go you know what
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: I am creating change.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_03]: What am I doing with my life?
- 5:51[SPEAKER_03]: I don't get to live this life twice.

- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: Enjoy the show.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_03]: Hey, everyone.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: Welcome to the bomb life podcast.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_03]: Today we have Stephanie at Cressweller on Welcome to the show, Stephanie.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks for having me.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, I can hurt you.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_03]: Tell we're going to be friends.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_03]: We're just about Stephanie.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: So today we're talking about metaphors hormones.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_03]: We're going to like dive into all the questions that a lot of our listeners either need to know now or they're going to need to know in the future.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_03]: Like it's going to happen, right?
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to happen to everyone every single person.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_03]: And that's why people need to know, right?
- 7:02[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it's so funny how people have no clue how early it hits to how early it can hit.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_03]: You know, yeah.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it can start mid-thirties.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like people have no idea.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: They think it's, oh, my period stops and I get hot flashes.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like once that's happened, you've been parrymenopausal for like eight, ten years.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like people have no freaking idea, right?
- 7:25[SPEAKER_03]: Right?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_03]: Grow your sort of gangster.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_03]: You're like this expert in women's hormones and metabolism.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_03]: So one, that's cool.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: And we need to duplicate you like twenty times.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: We're working on it.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're coming out with a coachy certification.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_03]: I'm actually pretty nice to hear.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_03]: So it's in the process.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, nice.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_03]: I love it.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_03]: So you are the founder of Vitality OET.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_03]: You're also the host of the top one percent ranked metabolism and metapause podcast.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you have a bachelor's and masters of science and kinesiology, you're certified strength, efficient code specialist, like, oh my god, like, and it keeps going on and on.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_03]: So I like saying that, giving you credit for all that you do and what you're doing because.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it speaks volume and we're so lucky to have you here today.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think a lot of people were just silenced in this topic.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, a hundred percent.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I saw this all the time.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I had my own clinic where I had massage therapists working under me, personal trainers.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we had a nice bigality to explain our clinic.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: And we would see women all the time.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I had first started training with like firefighters and police officers.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: And it was easy to get them results and help them feel healthy and good.
- 8:35[SPEAKER_01]: And then younger women, it was like,
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Good, but not as good and then you to hit like forty issues.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like what is happening here?
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like nutrition isn't working as well.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Exercise isn't working as well.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: And then they tell me stories about going into doctors and they're like, yeah, they just told me to eat less, move more to fast cut out my carbs and I feel like crap and I don't feel like I was taken seriously.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I was seeing people who were like,
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: two hundred and fifty pounds eating twelve hundred calories and not losing weight and I'm like okay this is not it like this this is not it and so I drove into metabolism things started getting a lot better than I was like okay it's better but still something's not clicking and then I dove into hormones and it was like it's one of those things that you can't unsee it you know it's just
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: You can't see it and then you're like, people need to see this because then they can't unsee it and it's so important.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where everything really changed and people feel less frustrated because they understand why things are happening because it's not that you're lacking discipline most of the time.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that you're lacking willpower.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's that we're not doing the right things for how our body is changing because we don't think that
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: what we're doing has changed much, but our bodies are changing, but internally things have changed.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: So we have to change what we're doing on the outside.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: But people are just like, no, I must push harder and then boom, all of a sudden you're heavier and it's like, it makes sense, right?
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: And so this is where I really dove deep into everything and it's just, it's open my eyes to so much.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: And there's always just so much to learn because finally, women are being researched.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thank goodness.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so now it's like, okay, we can keep going.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: You can keep diving and reconciling learning new things, but also if your doctor's not interested in that, what are the chances?
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: They're like spending their weekend searching research articles on estrogen and protein.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like, this is not.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_03]: I'm glad you brought that up like because I think there's so many women that do go to their doctors.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure you talked to them all the time and they go there and they explain this is what's happening.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and I can't tell you how many women have come back to me and they just mean what I do in my field and they're like they just said it's part of getting older.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_03]: It's just because I'm getting older in my age.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, that is not a helpful answer.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_03]: Are you kidding me?
- 10:42[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, for sure.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's insane.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, the way I almost view it is like, oh, this isn't serious.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a disease.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's not you didn't break your arm.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have cancer.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's not that big of a deal.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: So like, it's not that big of a deal.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a real problem.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, if someone is expressing to you, that something is going on and they're concerned about it, it is literally your job to be concerned about it.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, like quite literally.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, oh my gosh, I just can't.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: I just can't.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: And there are some great doctors out there.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: Don't get me wrong.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: But they are very hard to find.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: So if you find one, hold on to them.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: Think their praises, like, just share the good news.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I have two other questions for you.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_03]: One, how come doctors appear to know so little about this topic?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_03]: And two, why when we do go and we're like, can you check my hormones?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_03]: And they do blood work.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_03]: They're like, oh, you're the normal range.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_03]: You're fine.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_03]: Do very loaded questions, right?
- 11:36[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, everyone is probably wondering that, why?
- 11:41[SPEAKER_03]: Why does this keep happening?
- 11:42[SPEAKER_03]: I'm sure there's women listening going, yeah.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, that's me.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, exactly.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: So unfortunately, it takes a very long time for research to get into medical schools, let alone practitioners.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you think about the progression of leaky gut,
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: People used to laugh at that, like, thirty, thirty-five years ago.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, that's on the thing.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's not a thing.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now we know it's a thing, but it took twenty years of like people making us noise about it, begging for research, getting enough research with them.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be like meta analyses to like look at all the research to like find the findings, then put it into universities, put it into practice.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's, do you really want to wait twenty-five years?
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, where are you going to be in twenty-five years?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: like I am waiting for that.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: So already not happening.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's a big part of it.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: But also if your doctor is not interested in it, they won't like they're not researching it for not well-versed in it, right?
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then we look at the current medical system and forget what the crazy status.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's like only twenty percent of OBGYN, gynecology, residencies, even offer perimenopause menopause training, which is insane.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's a residency, like it's a surgical residency, basically.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: It is just to help you have babies.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Once you have babies, okay, goodbye.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: period on your own, but not everyone has a baby, but everyone goes in menopause, which isn't saying.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: So there's that, but then also, it's something like like only twenty percent, no, eighty percent of residences, like people who graduate from the medical residents, even feel comfortable discussing period menopause and menopause, which is insane, like they don't feel confident.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's something that population like that has the world like that's half the people like it's insane and so this is why I mean even nutrition and stuff I was talking to a really looking good doctor friend of mine and he was like we got like five days of nutrition a day of exercise maybe
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: And he's like, did I even show up to those lectures?
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: I probably just took the note takers notes that for those lectures and learned what I need to know to pass the test and that's it.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, it's not like it's technically kind of out of scope for a doctor to give you dietary advice that way because they literally don't know.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_01]: You have people who have done multiple certifications and so much education and have so much experience just in this field.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Your doctor is not person, right?
- 13:52[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, is what it is.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then you also have to think about with the medical system, too, is they're taught to give you a pill for an ill, right?
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: And not all doctors are like this, but predominantly, that's what it is.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: And they can't give you a pill until you are out of range for a certain number.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: So we can see that number take down and down and down.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: They can't, they literally cannot give you anything until it's outside of range.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: And so we just wait, that's like being like, you have cancer, but we're going to wait till it's stage four before we give you chemo.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it's that same mentality.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: We put it that way, who like, well, that's rough.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, but that's really what it is.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's really what it is.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's insane.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: What was the second question?
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: The blood work.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_03]: And they're like, OK, sure.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_03]: We'll take your blood work.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_03]: We'll check your hormones.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I had like a doctor years ago just be like, OK, OK, they just did it to like, shut me up.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I think well, if you ask you asked to get like certain labs and they won't do it, right?
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: They won't do certain thyroid labs and things like that, which is super frustrating because we know for women, especially once they get to that perimen of puzzle age, like your risk of developing hypothyroidism increases substantially, which sucks just because we're female and have two X chromosomes, it just, it is, it's yay for the benefits of being a woman, right?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: It is, it's really hard.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: And if it's normal, they can't give you anything.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Therefore, they don't really do anything for it.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: And so we want to look for what is optimal.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: And how can we avoid that word, what pill?
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: That is what we want to look for.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't want to wait until it's the problem.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be proactive to make sure it doesn't become a problem.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_04]: Right.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I remember going on a hike.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I must have been like in my early twenties and I will never forget there was a swimming industry is running an idiot the birthday sash and she was hiking with her grandkids and her kids and I was like that that is what I want to do when I'm eighty and it's like so I'm going to make sure that with my lifestyle like I'm not going to let myself get to a point where it's going to be a struggle to try and get back so I can go for a hike with grandkids right and so
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: This is where I think we all get so caught up in the wrong things is that we're trading our discomfort now by doing things the wrong way.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: And then not being able to do that thing because like when we're doing the extreme dieting when we're cutting our carbs and fasting and doing these low calorie diets and just doing the extreme workouts and just being extreme for so long.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: We abuse that fat burning pathway, then we can't get into it.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we start losing muscle mass.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: And now we can't lose fat.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: And so our body composition goes to crap.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: Our body fat percentage goes up.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: There's more inflammation.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: That's when we lead to disease progression like cancers.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't realize that the crazy crap that you've done or are doing right now is actually trading ten years off your life in the future.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like I saw this happen with my mom.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: She like chronically under eight all the time would eat highly processed foods, even though she was eating low calorie and staying in her budget, right?
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: And was doing a crap ton of cardio, but went through a lot of stress in her life.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, like, she was trading, trying to like be comfortable now and said, doing things the right way where she wanted to get stuff done sooner and, you know, and ended up in Purgree and then disease progression and we lost her.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's we don't think about the long term.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: We think about I'm so uncomfortable right now, which
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: I get it, right?
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: But you have to think long-term when you're a, a, do you want to be here?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: And b, what do you want to be doing?
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: Because what you're doing now probably doesn't match that unfortunately.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_03]: I love that like trading of the discomfort now.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_03]: Like I talk to my clients so much about that with their food and exercise and just sitting in a place of just like me.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_03]: I think of that emoji of just like, slant eyes, slant mouth.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, what are you doing?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_03]: You get to live this life once.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_03]: This is it early.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_03]: And what are you waiting for?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_03]: What are you waiting for?
- 17:36[SPEAKER_03]: And what you're doing now is going to impact how you feel a look.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_03]: just two years from now, three years from now, but you're right, we live in like this world of like just right now and it's like, well, I'm uncomfortable, but I'm not like that uncomfortable yet.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_03]: Like why in the hell do we have to wait until we're like, oh my God, this is unbearable.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_03]: What is going on with me?
- 17:57[SPEAKER_03]: And then we take action.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's like the pain has to be bad enough.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, but why do you have to experience that pain?
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, do you really want to wait to get like XYZed disease before you start making changes?
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like, no.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we have to do it now.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where a lot of women get it wrong, too, where they're like, I've always been fit in healthy.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be fine in menopause.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, girl, I can't tell you why.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: I worked with that are like oh yeah, like I was fitting healthy my whole life then all of a sudden one day and I'm like I know I know it's like what you were doing then you could get away with because of your hormones and then it declines and it's like you know your hormones were holding things together that you were not right
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: not properly taking care of yourself.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: You were just getting away with it, but you thought it was taking care of you.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so exactly.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so now you have to learn what is taking care of me actually look like, right, especially not my hormones have changed.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: How do I do this before my hormones change?
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: Because I can't tell you there's so many people on our team like we have coaches that are in Perry menopause and early forties, fifties, right?
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: We have coaches that are in their early thirties and it's like,
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say we're not afraid but like we're kind of afraid where it's like we know a lot and it's like we realize how like smooth the transition can be but also the way we work with we realize how catastrophic it can be and some people do not see it coming at all and that's the thing that sucks because we're just like oh I've been healthy and fit my entire life and it's like okay yes but what does that look like have you been eating
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: like you know what I mean, all these crazy things.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: And that's not it anymore.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_03]: And if you're not doing it, then it's not going to go well.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I learned that lesson after having kids.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like trying to get back into shape.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like doing what worked when I was eighteen, nineteen, twenty years old.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_03]: You know, and by baby number three, I'm just like trying to fit this like square peg into a circle hole.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_03]: Why isn't this working?
- 19:58[SPEAKER_03]: And I had just with that area of my life and I've been talking hormones like I had to re-earn what works in getting on the elliptical and teaching thirty classes and sweating my butt off.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_03]: It was not it.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_03]: I was not it.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, wait a minute.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_03]: You mean if I stopped doing cardio and focus on resistance training, that's what changes my body?
- 20:20[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I got a sleep and being terrible hydraids.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_03]: It is a wild world.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_03]: That was my big one of my biggest questions for you is like, why?
- 20:30[SPEAKER_03]: Why is what used to work?
- 20:32[SPEAKER_03]: No longer works.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_03]: Like what what what is happening during that time?
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so there's like two big things that I see.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: So the first one is like your past dieting history, because we don't realize that every time that we diet, our metabolism adjusts, right?
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's how many calories our body will burn, just at rest if we're like sleeping, keeping our heart beating, our lungs breathing, all the things.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: And so we don't realize that every time we diet, we are seeing that come down.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: And so we also don't come out of a diet appropriately.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like who has there been like, okay, I'm at my goal, babe.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to change it back to what I was doing before slowly literally no one ever we just go back what we were doing before and the thing is you go back to doing what you were doing before you're going to look the way you did before like let's be honest that's what's going to happen right and so we need to learn that okay we drop our calories metabolism comes down slowly with it and that gap between technically the calories in calories out right that's what's going to result in weight loss
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: So what we don't realize is as we increase our calories, we jump up too quick.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: There's a very big difference between calories and calories out because we may have lost some muscle mass.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: Typically when we're done a diet, we start, you know, walking less and working out less.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: So we're not prioritizing ourselves care and we let kind of protein fall down.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: And we don't focus on our veggies.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: And then we have this massive gap, but you never did anything to bring your metabolism back up afterwards to match.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so then we're struggling and then we die it again and it just gets worse and worse and worse and metabolism just over time progressively it's lower lower lower lower and so what used to be your maintenance of like two thousand is now twelve hundred because you never did anything but we also know what twelve hundred calories your bodies like okay we don't have enough stuff coming in and I always think of like the oh what's what's the movie with like the emotions where they have like the angry guy and like
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, inside out.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: So I always think of that video and I'm like, okay, it's like you got mission control and they're like, we don't have enough food coming in.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: What are we cutting out?
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like pull this lever.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: There goes your hair.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Boom.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: There goes your waistline.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: Boom.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: Hormones.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: Gone.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: Metabolism.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: God, inflammation, let's drive that up.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: They start messing with things, trying to allocate where the calories that are coming in are going, right?
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so then what we see too is we have this stress response, because under eating has a massive stress on our body.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: And cortisol will go at them.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: And cortisol goes up.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_01]: We see more inflammation, which means our metabolism again is going to slow down.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: It takes longer for food to enter the cells that increases inflammation, inflammation blocks your fat burning pathways.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: Therefore, you can be under eating and overexercising and seeing no changes because that stress response.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: We see that that stress is going to take your hormone.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to make your blood sugar worse.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: Even if you're under eating and fasting and eating low carb, it slows down your thyroid.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: So your body's even worse, separating calories.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: We see your liver health goes to crap.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: So now there's more toxins, more inflammation, toxins go in our fat cells.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: They change the structure of fat cells, making them even harder to break down.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: We see more inflammation in our gut.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: We start losing muscle mass.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: All of these things that we keep pushing, pushing, pushing, pushing.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: But what we don't know, or people don't realize, is when our hormones start to decline.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: So we're already going into like, Perry Menopause menopause, we're not in a good situation.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be honest.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that does not sound good.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_01]: And so then we have estrogen starts to come down.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: Protester was down first and then estrogen will follow.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: And what happens is we lose our buffer for stress.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now we could handle before a nine and a ten before we saw, you know, cortisol goes up and inflammation and the liver and all the things kind of go to crap, right?
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: So now it only takes a five out of ten.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: So you didn't change to anything.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: but what your body can handle that capacity decreases.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: Makes sense.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: And so now you're like panicking because you're gaining weight.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: So you push harder, cortisol goes even higher, hormones tank even more.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: And we see so many women in their twenties and thirties already going through this from overstressing their bodies from, you know, all the doom and gloom we had, you know, the pandemic.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: We have grief and trauma and anxiety and we're go, go, go, all of the time and people are like, I'm not stressed.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: I love my life.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like if you are on,
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's a stress for you.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: You're meeting more energy to meet the demand of what's on your body.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: You might have like deadlines like you might love your job, but it's you're still on like teachers and nurses.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's a lot of stress when you're at work.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like then we're not sleeping well and we're not prioritizing the proper meal timing and all of these things.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: And so it just ends up being just as massive overload of what your body can actually handle.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: just goes worse and worse and worse.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: And we push harder and it just makes everything so much worse.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where we end up telling people, we need to pull back my exercise a bit.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: We have changed how you're working out to resistance training.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_01]: We have to add in some carbs to give your thyroid a little bit of love and give you some energy.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: We have to opt your calories slowly.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: People are like,
- 25:07[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's the same.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's not happening.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: But it's crazy.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: You have your calorie slowly and people like, oh my gosh, I'm hungry again.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, good.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: That means your hunger hormones are coming back and you're not running on stress hormones.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: The day that you're hungry in the morning is a very, very good sign.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: right?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: We're all of a sudden they're like I'm sleeping better.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you will always feel these changes before you see them in it means the communication and the hormones and everything's talking to each other again because you don't have this crazy stress highway from your brain to your dream.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: All's just you know on a freeway like six p.m.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: rush hour just all that of course there's any collisions.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, there's going to be disruptions in communication.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's almost like you have to try and turn everyone around.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not taken time for some people, right?
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's people that don't realize that their capacity for stress decreases.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: So you didn't change anything, but internally you did.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: You went from having a dinner plate of stress piled up to now a side salad plate, but you didn't take anything off the plate.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: it's going to overflow.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: And so it just people just were so stuck in this hustle culture of go-go-go, I must push hard or that's the way.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you will feel so much better when you don't have to do that.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: And your body will transform.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to sleep better.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to be a nicer person.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like I can't tell you how many husbands are like, oh, thank you for giving my wife back.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like she's like, oh, yeah, like I don't feel like smothering him with a pillow anymore.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, that's a great day.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_03]: Hey guys, I thought this would be a great time to talk to you about my thick mind one-on-one coaching, because let's be honest.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_03]: What you're doing right now, it's not working.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_03]: And this episode is probably just reminding you of that.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_03]: You're exhausted, you're overwhelmed in your stuck-in routine that's keeping you in survival mode.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_03]: You keep saying you start with me.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_03]: But Monday comes and nothing changes because you're missing two things that make the difference.

- 27:30[SPEAKER_03]: Apply for one-on-one coaching today, click the link in the show notes, book a call with me, your future self is waiting.

- 27:37[SPEAKER_03]: That's a really good day.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_03]: That's a really good day.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_03]: And I love how you're talking about like all these these changes because I do, I love like that we met because like we can totally like overlap these worlds because I work in that space of like, you know, what other changes need to happen?
- 27:52[SPEAKER_03]: Like where's your mindset?
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_03]: Like where's the identity shifting happening with immersive?
- 27:58[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like, if you've been sixty eighty pounds overweight, and now you want to change that, that's great.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_03]: But diet and exercise, like, what's going on in here?
- 28:06[SPEAKER_03]: You know, like the power of who you think and believe that you are and what you believe that you're worth and what you hold sacred, hundred percent.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_03]: That has to shift with it, too, and no one's doing that.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, in this time, there's a lot of life changes happening.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be honest.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, you can be postpartum and Perry Menopausal at the same time, which is, let's be honest, that sucks.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not a good time.
- 28:28[SPEAKER_01]: But also, it's like you might have career changes.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: Some people get divorced.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's moves, there's sick parents.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're struggling with people passing away.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Your kids are moving out of the house potentially.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't know what's your purpose anymore.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: And society has really shown us, like, oh, we drink about the day we get married and our kids.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: And then we dream about like, oh, what retirement will be like?
- 28:51[SPEAKER_01]: And then we have this middle ground.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, people are like, I never envisioned this.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: No one prepared me for this.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: No one told me it was way worse than just half lashes and not having your period, right?
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, can I just skip this to beat that other end, right?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, people haven't really envisioned this part of their life.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Also, the symptoms that you experience make you show up differently, right?
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, right?
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Your mood changes.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: You don't feel as confident at work.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're not as articulate.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: You're not as sharp.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're exhausted.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: You have these cravings.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: You're emotional.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you just, you're like, I don't even let, I can't recognize myself physically, but like, emotionally, I'm like, I'm anxious.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm depressed.
- 29:29[SPEAKER_01]: I, I don't know what brings me joy anymore.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: The things that did bring me joy or kindness.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like, and so there's just, there's just so, there's so much happening at one time and you go to your doctor, like, here's an antidepressant.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, or or or something else going on.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and I'm glad that we're talking about this.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_03]: Like, seriously, I think these conversations, they're new.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_03]: Like, yes, my mom didn't grow up or like, I didn't grow up having my mom listen to podcasts and other women discuss this.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_03]: This is new.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_03]: Like women like Stephanie and Melissa getting together and talking about this and being brutally honest and really educating women on what's going on and why you're not broken.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_03]: You're not just old.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_03]: You're not just fat.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_03]: And that's what has to happen after thirty thirty five forty forty five, you know, like no.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: And so I and everyone views it as like an end of a chapter.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: Right, but I'm like, no, this is, and they're like waiting for the next one to open, and they're like, in that transition, I'm like, no, no, you get to make so many choices.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: Now, how do you want to spend your spare time?
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: What do you want to listen to?
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: How do you want to speak to yourself?
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: What do you want to consume?
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you want to go?
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: How do you want to spend hobbies?
- 30:35[SPEAKER_01]: What is your ideal morning look like?
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like, can we make any of those things start to happen today?
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I had a woman's like, I would love to read more.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, could we do that today?
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, could we just, could we just do that today?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: And people don't know what self care is anymore.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: And we have like such shame around it.
- 30:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, would you want your daughter to not take care of herself?
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you need to take care of yourself.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have to be like a bubble bath.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's just having tea and sitting outside.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you're doing a freaking crossword puzzle.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, what does that look like for you that actually like,
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: brings down your heart rate and brings down your breathing rate.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_01]: We're so just on all the time.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like when's the last time I went for a walk without your AirPods in?
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Most people like literally cannot.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_01]: When's the last time you drove without something playing in the background?
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like we literally just don't allow ourselves to be bored.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where creativity is born from.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's where we had ideas.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: Identity, we let our brain kind of go where where it goes and we're like, oh, that's a great idea.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: But we literally
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: are having to be stimulated and entertained all the time that we just don't let ourselves be.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: And people are like, I drove without anything on the car the other day and it was the wildest experience.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, good news should do that more.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just take five to ten minutes of like nothing and see what happened.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_03]: See what happens.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 31:50[SPEAKER_03]: What do you think is the biggest thing in your position like the biggest misunderstanding women have about hormones like what how do I word this like I know what I want to ask you and I'm like how do I word this so it makes sense like what are women missing about the knowledge behind like asking a projector like what do we need to know about this that like we're probably pretty clueless about
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: So like it's important to note how much those hormones affect your well-being, your fat metabolism, your energy, your, how you're sleeping, your mood mindset, your mood, like they're out of the top ten complaints women have from menopausal symptoms, the nine of them have to do with the brain.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: So like irritability, anxiety, depression.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: Because when you, when you're not in your right headspace, you don't feel good.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: You also don't make the decisions that you want to make.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like, who has there been like, I'm having a really bad day.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to have a Greek salad and go for a walk.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_01]: No, like, you're like, I'm going to go, you know, like, punish myself from the gym because that's how some people are or I'm going to sit on a couch and watch Netflix with ice cream, watching love is blind.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: like that sugar.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like that's literally, like you know, you just don't make, you don't have good conversations when you're really upset.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: You can make good decisions at work when you're really upset, when you don't feel like yourself, right?
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so I don't think people realize how much that affects everything and then how much your mind dictates the actions that you take because you will always act in accordance into what you believe to be true about yourself.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: I say this all the time.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: If you believe you're an impatient person,
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're always an act in patient.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: If you believe that you are an irritable person, you are always going to act irritable.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: Cause it's not like, okay, it's not like you actively think this situation happens.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: I am going to do this.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like you, your brain is like, oh, I'm this.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_01]: So therefore I act this way.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: There's no like long processing.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like all these, you know, skipping, skipping things.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: We like our brain is likes to be quick.
- 33:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so we literally have to change the way that we view ourselves.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: We need to be like, okay, I'm a person who
- 33:47[SPEAKER_01]: prioritize my health and fitness.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: If you truly believe that to be true about yourself, then you will do the actions that are showing that, right?
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot harder to, like we have to do some action to get ourselves some proof, right, that we are doing it.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_01]: But ultimately, you have to change what you view about yourself.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: And this is something we work with clients all the time because like if you always feel poorly about yourself, you're probably going to make decisions that continue to make you feel poorly about yourself.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_01]: like that's just how it works, right?
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: And so hormones affect that so so much.
- 34:18[SPEAKER_01]: And HRT can be great with helping with that, right?
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: Biomedical.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's really great.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: However, we also have to assess can your body absorb it?
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: can it break it down?
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: Can it use it?
- 34:30[SPEAKER_01]: Can it get rid of that extra?
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: Because this is where people say, oh, I took HR team.
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't feel good.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: I felt worse.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, that tells me there's something going on internally in your body, like either your liver is sluggish and can't process it.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_01]: We've got a slow metabolism.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: So things are sticking around your bloodstream too long.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's not getting yourself quick enough.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: So then we're having those like estrogen dominant type symptoms instead.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so we need to understand that
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: hormones can be incredible, right?
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like bioidentical can be super great if your body can actually utilize it.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where you see people who are on GLPs who don't get results has to do with metabolism.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: If their body can actually process it, are you able to eliminate all those things?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: Because too much of something is not good.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like just because some is good.
- 35:12[SPEAKER_01]: Does not be more as better.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: And this is something I think a lot of women need to understand as well where they think, oh, I'm going to take HR team.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to a feel amazing and also lose weight.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, HR, you don't take you for a walk.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't lift weights.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to build your muscle.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to magically make you feel like now I have self worth.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that magical.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like it helps symptoms if your body can utilize it, but you still got to do the things and that's what people miss a lot where they're like, oh, it's just the hormones.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, yes, but also no, right?
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's you still got to sleep.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: You still got to do things.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_03]: Still got to do it.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_03]: You still got to learn that's really interesting.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: And I think women too when we get
- 35:53[SPEAKER_03]: caught in that and we start feeling crappy and then it starts like these clamps just latch onto our ankles and just start pulling us down and then we feel like broken like something's just wrong with me you know like oh or oh this way just I've always been and you know I guess this is just how I am and it's like no there's a lot of hormones and chemicals that affect that you're not broken you're that psycho and you know unfortunately when we get told that all the time you're crazy you're just crazy you're psycho
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, and it's brutal because it's we're supposed to be like quiet and not make other people uncomfortable and like hide or hot flashes and it's like, no, no, no.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like I refuse to admit because like if we put the hormone journey childhood, okay, like we're we're good.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: Then we hit puberty and that's we don't know what the heck's going on for like five years.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: Let's run on us.
- 36:37[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, this isn't saying.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: Then we might have a few good years.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: If we're lucky, right where our hormones are like,
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: normal is we're regularly cycling but what we're seeing because of birth control and stuff is like massive estrogen dominance low progesterone we are not doing so well then we have babies postpartum also a gong show like that's crazy so like when we look at things before we get to Perry menopause it's like do I really only have six
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: solid good years.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like I refuse for that to be the story.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to be as loud as I want.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be as bold as I want because that is not it.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: That is not it.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: We are not that is not the story.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I refuse to be quiet to make people less uncomfortable.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to talk about periods.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to talk about nitty gritty symptoms.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to talk about all the things.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_01]: And like because it needs to be talked about like we're not supposed to just like hide and suffer like no.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_01]: Not happening, not happening.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: And like, we see on social media, everyone's handling it so well.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: And then we're like, oh, maybe it's just me.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, she probably had a hot flash, like, thirty minutes after filming that video.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like, no one like feeling super amazing.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna have abs and flows and it's gonna take time to figure out our new rhythm and work with our body instead of against it.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just, yeah, it just feels so isolated.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're not doing that no more.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're not doing it.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_03]: You had said, I meant to say this earlier, but you had said about the HR team, maybe your body just can't absorb it and something else is going on.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_03]: And I know so many women that are like, I tried this and it didn't work or whatever.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_03]: And the only answer to that was they just did less.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_03]: testosterone or less estrogen or more testosterone, more progesterate like the number just was shifted.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_03]: No one has said, oh, well, then they did, you know, they looked at my liver and or they looked this and my body was processing it.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, listen to you talk and I'm like, I've never even heard anyone say that.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, it's a wild to me.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like we do Dutch testing with all of our clients and we do lab work too and people are like, oh, well, you can't like trust like progesterone estrogens that fluctuate so much.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: But we can look at like ratios to things and other markers, right?
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like blood sugar will tell us a lot, liver inflammation.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I love the Dutch testing because it shows us where is your body prioritizing what like is it prioritizing, turning things into antigens?
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: And now you're having symptoms of that.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Are you like prioritizing testosterone?
- 39:00[SPEAKER_01]: Are you like it'll show you which pathways are more active, which tells us a lot about what is going on in your body so we can be a little bit more efficient because for myself, my DHEA was not super great and my professor of an estrogen like four years ago were postmenopausal, which should not have been there at all.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so like a lot of people would have been like, oh, let's give her a DHEA because like that would help her produce other hormones.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 39:24[SPEAKER_01]: If we looked at my Dutch test, if you would have given me that, my Androgens are so high, like my body really favors pushing it down that pathway.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I would have had way worse Androgens dominant type symptoms.
- 39:35[SPEAKER_01]: My blood sugar would have gotten worse.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: I probably would have gained more weight.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, it would not have been good.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so this is why I'm always so
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: careful because some people with like certain supplements, like some of them are pretty potent, right?
- 39:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like dim is a very potent estrogen detoxer.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't need it, it can tank your estrogen real bad because you're like, oh, it's too high compared to progesterone.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, so is estrogen the problem?
- 39:56[SPEAKER_01]: Or is it progesterone?
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then why is it progesterone?
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, is it because of stress?
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: Is it because of a conversion issue?
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like why?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's the question to ask is why is this low?
- 40:07[SPEAKER_01]: Not, oh, here, this will bump it up because
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know if that's what your body's going to do with it.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can give your body stuff, but you don't know what it's going to prioritize.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: How is going to break it down?
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why you need a little bit more information gathering more health history, understanding their diet history, how they eat now, how they exercise now.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: They're stressed because all of those things are massively going to impact your hormones and how your body processes things.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just like a massive disservice to not dig deeper, to not to get more information.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: Because the more information you have, it's like, it's almost like if I'm trying to, you know, drive to your place.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: If I don't know where I am, like you can give me the address of where I want to go, Google Maps is not telling me how to get there.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: If I don't know exactly where I am.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so then you're just driving aimlessly, turning right, turning left, hoping you're going in the general, you could never get there.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: You just waste so much time, so much money on fuel.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, angry, you're frustrated because you've been driving forever.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: And so figuring out where you are is the most important part because if we don't know that, we get people last with to calculate calories all the time.
- 41:16[SPEAKER_01]: I thought I'm a list of like, fourteen questions.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is this necessary?
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, yeah, because I'm not going to tell you where to go if I don't know where you are.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, you could end up gaining weight.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: You could end up feeling worse.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I need to know so much.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: And people get kind of frustrated sometimes.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, ethically, I'm not willing to just like, wing it.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like, right, that's not our style.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_03]: And if they don't know, yeah, if they don't know, like, I get that too.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, what do you consuming now?
- 41:43[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I don't know.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, what do we do with that?
- 41:47[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't have life, no, where do we even know the start?
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: I get you exactly exactly exactly.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: I might can you track for a few days like why don't want to do that?
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, then why do you want to know how much you should be consuming?
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Because you got to track to figure that out.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, you're like, this all makes sense.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: So you want answers, but you don't want answers.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_01]: We want answers, but you're not going to take action on it.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so, come on.
- 42:09[SPEAKER_02]: It happens.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they do something all the time.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_03]: I have these conversations with people and they're just like, I want to look like this and I want this kind of body and I want this kind of muscle.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_03]: You know, I could give you the perfect map to get there.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_03]: It is is no good if you have every excuse in the book is do why you can't get to the gym, hundred percent.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_03]: Why you can't just start walking and you're willing to put in like two days of work.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_03]: But you want a honestly six day a week work body.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, oh, I follow the plan except for for this and for this and for this and like, okay, I don't like you make your decisions.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: I will help you through this.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm never going to make you feel poorly, but you have to take responsibility for one your choices and two of the consequences that come with it.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: And so the consequence is results aren't going to be exactly what you want then.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay with that but you're clearly not okay with that and that's not a me thing that's a you thing and so we need to work through this and like what are you actually willing to do and based on what you're actually willing to do what are the expectations that you can realistically expect and that's always a really really hard conversation
- 43:16[SPEAKER_01]: because we're just so used to order on Amazon at my door to hours later, right?
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is not how this works.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: We are not Amazon Prime.
- 43:24[SPEAKER_01]: We are like the Sears catalog where you had to look through the book and circle it and call in and then you had to wait forever.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then you wait forever where it to come back in the mail because you like submit it like we're the Sears catalog.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's how our bodies work.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: We are not Amazon Prime.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_01]: That is so funny.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's so true.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_00]: The Sears catalog.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't thought about that years.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_02]: And I were like circling like things that I wanted like these bathing suits and stuff.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, man.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: So funny.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's the best.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that is so good.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_03]: Stephanie, you are just like brilliant.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_03]: And I love we're like, I mean, we're really talking some shit right now, but I hope someone's listening going, that's me.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's me.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_03]: Like that's I do that.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_03]: I do that.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes that awareness is, I say, it's all time like that awareness is key.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_03]: Like you cannot take action, you cannot change, you cannot do anything to change the course that you're on.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't have that awareness first, hundred percent.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing, like I'll have women message me, like, because we're doing like a challenge right now.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: homes like oh man like i struggle with this but i was very aware that oh i'd like definitely i'm not hitting my protein today like because of x wise you might keep it you're aware of it so now it's like okay we're aware this is an issue let's make a plan to make sure that we can proactively avoid this in the future like make sure that you're reaching these things is if you don't even know there's a problem
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: I have to fix it.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_01]: You don't even know it's there.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_03]: And admit it.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: That admitting part of like, oh my god, I've been doing this wrong.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is a problem.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but that's empowering because if you're always blaming, that's where you're giving control up to.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, I didn't do this because I went out for drinks at my friends.
- 45:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, OK, so you were allowing your friends to literally have more control over your life than you.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't do this because this came up.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_01]: Where you point your excuses to shows who holds the power over your life.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: And if that's not you, we got things that we got to work on.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_03]: Amen.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_03]: Stephanie, you have just been amazing.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_03]: This is like the best episode ever.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_03]: I'm so glad that we connected.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_03]: How can people find you?
- 45:24[SPEAKER_03]: How can they follow you?
- 45:26[SPEAKER_03]: How can they find you?
