- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:45Hi, Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:49hypnosis session that was created for a client that, after
- 0:53experiencing a fall in childhood, had a real sense of
- 0:59Vertigo, of anything that seemed unstable.
- 1:03Or have the. Possibility of either movement
- 1:06or height. And Vertigo can be defined by
- 1:10this dizzy feeling, either linked to real experiences or
- 1:14perceptions. So some people with Vertigo, for
- 1:16example, they can be in a built up city, look up at tall
- 1:20buildings and really feel that dizziness.
- 1:22Or it might be going down a staircase or over a bridge or
- 1:26just surrounded by things like a tunnel.
- 1:29And this client had some of those triggers, and they really
- 1:33wanted to feel this feeling of stability, but their coping
- 1:37strategy was to become more rigid.
- 1:40And that kind of makes sense that if you're worried about the
- 1:42movement around you, then you make yourself rigid to almost
- 1:46create a brace position. But what that was doing is that
- 1:49it means that they feel the movement more.
- 1:52And in this hypnosis session, I actually use a metaphor of a
- 1:55gyroscope. And why a gyroscope is quite a
- 1:58powerful metaphor is that even if the surroundings are moving,
- 2:03the inner part of a gyroscope remains stable and static.
- 2:08Sometimes it can spin, but it keeps balance.
- 2:10And that's why it's such a good metaphor for this particular
- 2:14client. And there's other things in
- 2:16there as well, like feeling relaxed and and having a lack of
- 2:20tension. Because if you think of, and
- 2:22there's a metaphor in this session about old bamboo versus
- 2:26young bamboo, if you think of really rigid old bamboo in a
- 2:30storm, in the wind, it could break, but very young flexible
- 2:33bamboo would just move with the wind.
- 2:36So there's various metaphors here that design and encourage
- 2:40the client to really feel relaxed and fluid and, and kind
- 2:44of in this state of finding stability from the way that they
- 2:47move rather than being rigid, which actually just increases
- 2:51their ability to notice any kind of movements.
- 2:54So if you have feelings of Vertigo or let's say there's
- 2:58anxiety linked to certain places like bridge or flying, you might
- 3:02get some value from this session, but just be aware that
- 3:04it was created for of a specific client.
- 3:07Therefore, some of the suggestions might have been
- 3:10perfect for the client and not quite right for you.
- 3:14So if you'd like the idea of working with me directly in the
- 3:17description, you're going to be able to find a suitability test
- 3:21but also a link to schedule a free consultation call to
- 3:25explore working with me. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:28comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 3:31Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:25you breathe in, breathe in that slow, long, relaxing breath.
- 4:32And as you exhale, just allow your eyelids to close, and as
- 4:39they close, feel that wave of relaxation starting at the
- 4:45eyelids and rippling and trickling down, releasing
- 4:53tension on the outward breath before breathing in a feeling of
- 5:01calm stability, Breathing in that relaxation and exhaling any
- 5:11feelings of stress, worry, or tension, but also any feelings
- 5:17of rigidity. It's almost like you could
- 5:23imagine an old stick of bamboo, rigid and brittle.
- 5:35And if the wind comes, that brittle bamboo could snap.
- 5:42But then imagine seeing the new shoots of bamboo, flexible and
- 5:51moving, that even if the wind is fierce, they move with the wind.
- 6:01I want you to get a sense that with each and every breath, feel
- 6:09tension, rigidity, any feeling of brittle rigid sensations just
- 6:17melting away. I want you to think of an
- 6:22icicle. A rigid icicle could shatter
- 6:30into a million pieces, but imagine the icicle in its liquid
- 6:37form. It just moves to suit whatever
- 6:43environment it's in. And as you breathe in and
- 6:48breathe out, feel any tension almost like it's crystals of ice
- 6:57melting away, taking that fluid liquid form, enabling you to
- 7:04feel deeper and deeper, relaxed. That's in.
- 7:16And I want you to use the power of your imagination to imagine a
- 7:24flat, solid, stable place out in nature.
- 7:30And maybe it's just a field that is flat and level, or maybe,
- 7:40maybe it's something else. But I want you to imagine being
- 7:47in that place in nature, on that solid, flat, stable ground, and
- 7:56imagine standing and feeling stable, feeling relaxed, feeling
- 8:03flexible. But then I want you to imagine
- 8:09on that safe, solid, stable ground, seeing an airline seat,
- 8:21but the airline seat is not on a plane.
- 8:25It's on that solid, safe, stable ground.
- 8:33And imagine sitting in that stable seat on that stable
- 8:36ground and declining it to where you feel most relaxed.
- 8:45As I count down from 12:50, you will imagine drifting off into a
- 8:51dreamlike sleep there on that airline chair.
- 8:58The look of the chair will make you feel safe and stable. 10
- 9:06just releasing any tension around your eyelids and
- 9:10forehead. And nine, just release any
- 9:14tension in your jaw. 8 breathing in deeper, exhaling for longer.
- 9:22Just feel all the muscles in your face start to relax.
- 9:27That's it. And then seven.
- 9:32Imagine that the breathing is now happening for you.
- 9:38Their lungs know how to breathe, so allow them to breathe even
- 9:42more relaxed and even more deeper.
- 9:46And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed your neck and
- 9:48shoulders feel. The seven becomes 6 and just
- 9:54feel your neck and shoulders feel so relaxed as you imagine a
- 10:02helium balloon and whatever colour comes to mind.
- 10:11And I want you to think of a helium balloon with a string
- 10:17that even if the string is moved, the helium balloon seems
- 10:24stable. I want you to get a sense that
- 10:31your head feels like that helium balloon, that almost it can move
- 10:39in whichever way it needs to to feel stable and relaxed.
- 10:44And the more loose and relaxed your neck and your shoulders,
- 10:49the more it feels like your head is just floating in whichever
- 10:53position is most comfortable. And then seven goes to six and
- 11:00just feel your arms feeling limp, loose and heavy, more and
- 11:04more relaxed. And then five, just feel your
- 11:09internal organs starting to relax, your heart, your lungs,
- 11:15your stomach, all start to relax.
- 11:21But I want you to focus your attention there in the center of
- 11:24your torso, the solar plexus, and just imagine a shiny
- 11:35gyroscope right there. And I want you to imagine that
- 11:44whatever sensation anxiety is, the gyroscope is rotating in the
- 11:50opposite direction. That when you imagine the
- 11:54gyroscope rotating in that direction gives you a feeling of
- 12:01calm, confidence and stability. Give it a colour, but also give
- 12:09it warmth. Just imagine a particular drink
- 12:15giving that warm feeling there in that location and give the
- 12:18gyroscope that warmth so that there in the gut you feel more
- 12:26and more relaxed, more and more comfortable.
- 12:31And then four, take that feeling of relaxation, take it down into
- 12:34the legs. That's it.
- 12:39Deeper down 3 and then two, even more relaxed now and then one.
- 12:49Just imagine the feeling of relaxation goes all the way to
- 12:52your toes and then from your toes all the way up to the top
- 13:00of your head and down to the tips of your fingers.
- 13:06Every breath taking you deeper and deeper relaxed and feel that
- 13:13imaginary sensation of that airline chair on that solid
- 13:18stable ground. Imagine the sensation of the
- 13:22chair, the feeling of stability that it supports you completely.
- 13:32A feeling that you don't need to hold yourself up, you can just
- 13:38let yourself go, allowing your arms to rest, your legs to
- 13:43relax, and your breathing to become even slower and more
- 13:48rhythmic. And as you go deeper into
- 13:54comfort, I'd like you to focus on that centre, the place just
- 14:02beneath the ribs in the centre of your torso, there in the
- 14:08solar plexus, and really think about that gyroscope.
- 14:17I want you to see it as a perfectly balanced precision
- 14:22instrument, spinning effortlessly in the direction of
- 14:29calm confidence. And you could imagine it as
- 14:35stable and steady. And no matter how the world
- 14:42moves around it, this gyroscope, this mechanical metaphor, it's
- 14:50part of you. I want you to feel that.
- 14:57Only now you realize that rigidity doesn't make you
- 15:03stable, it's intuition and flexibility that does.
- 15:10So imagine that gyroscope has been there all along, only now
- 15:15you're working with it rather than against it.
- 15:19A deep stabilizing force centres you, balances you and grounds
- 15:27you, and with every breath you become more aware of this inner
- 15:36gyroscope. And every time you think of that
- 15:40location, you can feel that the gyroscope spinning is spreading
- 15:48calm outwards, a feeling of a quiet steadiness, silent and
- 15:58comforting and stable. And even if the world moves,
- 16:05even if the ground shifts, and if you're on a sky or a bridge
- 16:10or walking down steps, that gyroscope spins smoothly and
- 16:17silently. I want you to feel a wonderful
- 16:26sense of balance and calm from the inside out, and then I want
- 16:40you to think of something in your future.
- 16:45Maybe a flight, or maybe being a passenger crossing a bridge, or
- 16:54maybe walking down a steep flight of stairs.
- 17:02But instead of being in your body, I want you to imagine
- 17:04seeing yourself like you're someone else.
- 17:08I want you to see a future version of you looking calm,
- 17:13relaxed, and stable in the very situations that used to cause
- 17:20anxiety. In fact, you could imagine
- 17:27seeing yourself walking down steep stairs at an airport to
- 17:32arrive at a checkout lounge, a departure lounge, and then see
- 17:38yourself perhaps going through a tunnel boarding the plane and
- 17:48see yourself taking a seat. And that seat represents
- 17:54stability and safety. So see yourself there looking
- 18:01calm and confident and stable, not because the environment
- 18:06changed, but because you did. And imagine you have X-ray eyes
- 18:11and you can see that gyroscope within the way you see yourself
- 18:18walking, moving, see yourself looking more relaxed with a
- 18:25steady gaze, breathing calmly. But I also want you to notice
- 18:32something that that future version of you, whenever there's
- 18:37unpredictable movements, is focusing their attention on the
- 18:46furthest point away. They're not looking at anything
- 18:52close, they're looking for the furthest point.
- 18:59I want you to get a sense that that version of you has new
- 19:05resources, new strategies. That shift in focus gives that
- 19:13future version of you a deep sense of orientation and
- 19:18stability, where you can feel rooted even in motion, and allow
- 19:28your intuition to activate the gyroscope whenever you need it
- 19:33most. If things are jumpy or volatile,
- 19:42that's when you need that gyroscope, and that future
- 19:46version of you will be flexible, not rigid.
- 19:48In those moments, relax, not tense in those moments.
- 19:53And I want you to see yourself looking for the most relaxed
- 20:00person around you and mimicking their facial expressions, their
- 20:07breathing, their muscle tension, knowing that when you adopt the
- 20:16same Physiology of that calm. Relax, confident person.
- 20:24Your body becomes more calm, confident and relaxed.
- 20:32And from this point on, anytime you feel a flicker of
- 20:38instability, just imagine. Imagine that silent, steady
- 20:45gyroscope right there in your solar plexus.
- 20:50And the more you focus on it, the more relaxed you become and
- 20:54the more balanced you feel, and the more natural that it is to
- 21:00remain grounded even when the world moves.
- 21:07Because from this point onwards, you are like that fresh bamboo.
- 21:15You're not resisting the movement, you're riding it,
- 21:23flowing with it, because your body knows how to adapt and your
- 21:28mind knows how to remain calm. And your inner gyroscope is
- 21:35always with you, effortlessly keeping you steady wherever you
- 21:41go. And maybe, maybe it makes sense
- 21:50to why a gyroscope is your Talisman, that the physical
- 22:00gyroscope enables you to visualize your inner gyroscope.
- 22:07And no matter how volatile any environment is, you seeing the
- 22:13stability of the inner part of the gyroscope will remind you.
- 22:17But that is also happening within you, and you can bring
- 22:22this feeling with you of calm, control and balance.
- 22:31I want you to imagine seeing a flight landing, see yourself
- 22:39leaving the flight and seeing someone you love and see
- 22:46yourself enjoying time with that person and know.
- 22:53But sometimes going outside of the comfort zone opens new
- 22:57doors, leads to more resilience, expands your comfort zone.
- 23:08And then you find yourself back on that airline chair out there
- 23:13in nature on the solid ground, and just feel how you would feel
- 23:19that you got to the end of your destination.
- 23:23And even though there may have been turbulence or sudden
- 23:28movements, you were able to feel that calm stability that you are
- 23:40the gyroscope. And as you hold that thought,
- 23:46it's time to return all the way back to the here and the now
- 23:51with a new way of thinking of movement and balance and
- 23:57stability. So take a deep breath in through
- 24:00your nose and out through your nose.
- 24:06Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 24:09Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 24:14from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 24:18Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 24:28Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 24:33Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 24:35Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
