Transcript
- 0:029 year old missing Lompoc, CA girl Melody Buzzard's body has
- 0:09been found and the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office has done a
- 0:13press conference along with several other agencies giving us
- 0:17some details. This is breaking news.
- 0:20The press conference began about an hour ago, concluded about 25
- 0:24minutes later. We're going to watch it
- 0:25together, but the news is that poor little 9 year old Melody
- 0:30Buzzard is dead. Stay with me.
- 0:45This video contains mature themes and discussions intended
- 0:48only for adult audiences. Viewer discretion is advised.
- 0:55Hello there, my friend, and welcome back to another true
- 0:57crime conversation with me, Gavin Fish on this channel where
- 1:01we like to cut through the fluff and sensationalism of true
- 1:04crime, get down to the nitty gritty.
- 1:06We like to do so in a manner that is compassionate.
- 1:10And today actually, I should, I should thank you for joining me.
- 1:17I always forget that, you know, Thank you for joining me,
- 1:21wherever you're joining me from. Tell me in the live chat, in the
- 1:24comments where you're joining from.
- 1:26I love that. Our plan today was not to cover
- 1:29this case. Our plan was to talk about the
- 1:34Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner case to try to dig into why
- 1:41children sometimes kill their parents.
- 1:47But we had to make a pivot. And thank you for letting me do
- 1:51that, allowing me to pivot over to Melody Buzzard's case.
- 1:56This one is the exact opposite. Why do sometimes parents kill
- 2:00their children? I do not know.
- 2:04I don't understand it. It is.
- 2:09It's just incomprehensible to me and as I was kind of running
- 2:14around like a chicken with my head cut off, I couldn't had a
- 2:18hard time getting prepared for this live stream because so much
- 2:21was going on. Let me check in with your
- 2:24comments here. Mooney comments.
- 2:28Even though the perp walk is blurry, the pic seems to capture
- 2:31the pure evil that is Ashley. Yeah, we got Fredonia, PA in the
- 2:37house. Thank you very much for telling
- 2:39me you you knew before I even asked.
- 2:41Suffolk. It's in the house.
- 2:43Washington State, South Central Kentucky, Warrensville, NC
- 2:47Columbus, OH, Kansas, Columbia, TN Birmingham, AL York, PA,
- 2:54Seattle area, St. Robert, MO Wales.
- 2:57I I do love. I do love Wales.
- 3:00I've visited a couple times. And Grace Mayato says I'm
- 3:04completely horrified. Yeah.
- 3:05And I think that that reflects how many of us feel.
- 3:13I, I think we all knew that news like this was going to come.
- 3:19This is like the Jack and Lily case, The Jack and Lily Sullivan
- 3:22case, They've been gone so long, the chances of them being alive,
- 3:28it would be a miracle. And same with Little Melody
- 3:32here, it would have been a miracle.
- 3:34But it turns out that this beautiful little 9 year old girl
- 3:38died in Wayne County, Utah from multiple looks like 2, I think
- 3:46from what they said, bullet wounds, gunshot wounds to the
- 3:51head. It's just, it's just so tragic
- 3:58and sad. I didn't have time to set up my
- 4:00buttons. So let's, let's let's go over
- 4:07not wrong, wrong one. We're going to go to this one,
- 4:10guys. And if you've watched already,
- 4:12please bear with me. We're going to pause along the
- 4:13way as we as we discussed this press conference.
- 4:17Here we go. This is the Santa Barbara
- 4:18Sheriff's Office. Ashley provided no verifiable
- 4:23explanation for Melody's whereabouts.
- 4:27October 15th, 2025, Detectives served a search warrant at the
- 4:34Buzzard residence in the 500 block of Mars Ave. in the Lompoc
- 4:39area, looking for evidence pertaining to Melody's
- 4:43whereabouts. Subsequent to the search
- 4:46warrant, it was determined that Ashley had recently rented a
- 4:50car, and video surveillance images were obtained showing
- 4:56Ashley and a Melody at the rental car office, both of them
- 5:01wearing wigs in an apparent attempt to conceal their
- 5:05identity. Yeah, we've seen those pictures.
- 5:07These images were shared with the public on October the 22nd
- 5:11in an attempt to obtain additional information about
- 5:15their whereabouts. On October 24th, 2025,
- 5:22detectives shared an updated timeline and travel route with
- 5:26the public of Melody's last known movements along a multi
- 5:31state round trip travel route that included California,
- 5:36Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, and Nebraska with a return route
- 5:45including Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and then
- 5:52back to California. Detectives learned that along
- 5:56this trip, Ashley switched the license plates on the vehicle
- 6:01she had rented to a New York plate and found out that she
- 6:07would back her vehicle into gas stations in an apparent attempt
- 6:12to avoid detection by their surveillance.
- 6:14Camps that points to consciousness.
- 6:16Melody was last seen on video surveillance with Ashley on the
- 6:20Colorado side of the Colorado, Utah border on Thursday, October
- 6:269th, 2025 and detectives now believe that Melody was murdered
- 6:34shortly after that stop on October the 30th.
- 6:39Sheriff's detectives along with the FBI Evidence Response Team
- 6:43responded and served follow up search warrants at the home of
- 6:48Ashley Buzzard as well As for a storage locker that she had
- 6:53rented and upon the car that she had recently rented as well.
- 6:59During the search of the Mars Ave. residence, an expended
- 7:05cartridge case was recovered. During the search of the
- 7:09vehicle, a live round of similar ammunition was located.
- 7:15Detectives submitted the expended cartridge case to the
- 7:20Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for
- 7:24inclusion in their national database called NIBIN, the
- 7:29National Integrated Ballistic Information Network.
- 7:34December the 6th, 2025, members of the Wayne County Sheriff's
- 7:40Office in Utah responded to a call from a man and a woman who
- 7:44were taking photos just off the 3300 block of East State Route
- 7:5024 in a remote part of Wayne County, Utah.
- 7:56This couple had discovered the decomposed body of a deceased
- 8:01person off of the side adjacent to West Caneville Rd.
- 8:09On December 8th, 2025, a member of the Wayne County Sheriff's
- 8:13Office notified the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office
- 8:16of the discovery of the unidentified found body.
- 8:22Although immediate identification of the deceased
- 8:24person was not possible, it was apparent that the decedent was a
- 8:28female who had died from gunshot wounds to the head.
- 8:36December 17th, 2025. Guys, the whole showing up at
- 8:40the rental car place with wigs, the traveling multiple states,
- 8:47what is it? California, Nevada, Arizona,
- 8:49Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas.
- 8:54I think I've got all the states there.
- 8:56Backing into gas stations to avoid the cameras, renting a
- 9:04car, renting a storage locker, ammunition.
- 9:08This this was planned from the time she left.
- 9:11Man, that's what it looks like to me that she planned.
- 9:18OK, we are. I'm taking my daughter on a road
- 9:21trip. And on that road trip, I'm going
- 9:24to murder her. What makes what makes a mother
- 9:28do that? What makes a mother do that?
- 9:33Oh, my goodness. Like, you know, I can, I don't,
- 9:39I don't understand it. I certainly don't condone it,
- 9:42right? But on some level I get when
- 9:46somebody snaps, when somebody gets so angry they lose control
- 9:50of their faculties. It's totally wrong, right?
- 9:53Completely, completely wrong. But I can understand how that
- 10:00happens. I people lose their tempers all
- 10:03the time and sometimes they end up doing horrible things.
- 10:07That's not this this is taking what a many thousands of miles
- 10:14on a road trip that that has to be like 2500 miles that they
- 10:18drove and having it planned out and going to a remote area.
- 10:26Look at this. Let me let me just bring you
- 10:30over here right. They, they showed this on the
- 10:32screen behind the sheriff there. But that is just the remotest of
- 10:40remote areas of the world. Look, it's in the middle of the
- 10:45high desert all the way down traveling along Hwy. 24, which
- 10:51is, I mean, it's not a we're going to, we're going to look at
- 10:55Hwy. 24, taking an exit onto W Caneville Rd.
- 10:59And somewhere on this area, in this area, let's see, W
- 11:04Caneville Rd. turns into S Caneville Rd. there.
- 11:07So it's like from there to there, you guys can see my yeah,
- 11:12somewhere in there. And look, the, the, the highway
- 11:20is just a 2 lane highway out in the middle of nowheresville,
- 11:23Utah. I mean, it's beautiful.
- 11:30As somebody who lived in the desert for several years, I
- 11:33love, I love the desert, but that is in the middle of
- 11:39nowhere. Get it back up to satellite
- 11:42view. I just the whole thing was
- 11:48planned. It it was just just planned.
- 11:54All right, let's continue. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
- 11:58Firearms and Explosives examination of cartridge cases
- 12:02found at the Utah crime scene resulted in a nibin hit linking
- 12:09them to the single cartridge case that was found at the
- 12:13Buzzard residence on December 22nd.
- 12:18Yesterday, the FBI crime lab notified our agency that DNA
- 12:24analysis had determined that the remains found in Utah were a
- 12:29familial DNA match to Ashley Buzzard.
- 12:34Look, they've got it down to the date.
- 12:35They believe that she was murdered on October 9th, 2 days
- 12:39after they rented that car. Today, December 23rd, 2025,
- 12:46members of the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office and the FBI
- 12:48served search and arrest warrants at the Mars Ave.
- 12:52Residence and arrested Ashley Lynn Buzzard for the murder of
- 12:57Melody Buzzard. By the way, I think we do have
- 13:04just very, very low resolution still grabs there.
- 13:10There was some video I didn't again, I was kind of scrambling
- 13:13to to change my plan. So I didn't get a good, didn't
- 13:19get a good video of this. But there she is, not made-up,
- 13:24not in a wig, just in a T-shirt and jeans being taken out by the
- 13:32Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
- 13:35My goodness. And, and I'm going to read this.
- 13:38Actually, no, no, we won't read this quite yet.
- 13:41We'll go back to the to the press conference.
- 13:46Ashley was taken into custody without incident and she was
- 13:50booked at the Northern Branch Jail for first degree murder,
- 13:54where she is currently being held about bail.
- 13:57Obviously first degree with all the pre planning that went into
- 14:00that obviously that that goes that all that pre planning goes
- 14:04in goes to two elements of first degree murder once malice
- 14:10aforethought right plan pre planning, which I mean, we're
- 14:15always talking about how malice aforethought pre planning can
- 14:19happen in an instant. No, this happened over a road
- 14:22trip of a couple days, right? And then the consciousness of
- 14:26guilt thing for me where she's where she's endeavoring to, to
- 14:30hide her identity. I think this is going to be a
- 14:35pretty easy case. While these developments
- 14:38represent important steps towards holding.
- 14:41Good law enforcement. Ashley Buzzard accountable for
- 14:43the murder of her daughter. They do not diminish the
- 14:47profound loss that we are acknowledging today.
- 14:52Because this case is now moving through the court system.
- 14:55There are limits on what additional detail we can share
- 14:59publicly at this time. At this point, I'm going to ask
- 15:03Lieutenant Chris Gotshall to recognize the personnel agencies
- 15:08whose work in our region was instrumental in this
- 15:11investigation. Thank you.
- 15:13Sheriff, there are a couple people that are going to talk
- 15:15here and then they'll do some questions.
- 15:18This case required an extraordinary level of
- 15:20coordination and commitment amongst all agencies.
- 15:23I want to specifically recognize the detectives who tirelessly
- 15:26worked from the very beginning, including Lead Detective Joe
- 15:30Oliver, Detective Ruben Esparza, Detective Matt Maxwell,
- 15:36Detective Cliff Kebasa, Detective Thomas Brownlee, and
- 15:41Sergeant Jeff McDonald, along with numerous investigators.
- 15:45Yeah, deputies and what while he talks about this, let me just
- 15:49say, you know, one of the things I would check on this every day,
- 15:53I'd also like to acknowledge our I would check on this case every
- 15:56day for headlines, just see if there was any update on this.
- 16:00And it just seemed like nothing. And it started to feel like
- 16:05there wasn't ever going to be an update on this.
- 16:08So I'm extremely, I'm, I'm extremely glad for all these
- 16:12people who worked so hard. To solve.
- 16:15This case. The California Department of
- 16:17Justice, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's
- 16:20Office, Santa Barbara County Child Welfare Services, the
- 16:25Lompoc Unified School District and Santa Barbara County Search.
- 16:29Yeah, let's not forget the school district, right?
- 16:31It was the school district that alerted law enforcement at the
- 16:34very beginning about her prolonged absence.
- 16:37And it kind of goes to show the stupidity of criminals, right?
- 16:43Maybe. No, I don't want to say this out
- 16:47loud because I don't want to give criminals, you know,
- 16:52they'll figure it out because of this.
- 16:53If they're, if they're watching this, they'll figure it out
- 16:55anyway. But dude, you left your child
- 16:59enrolled in school with a plan to take her cross country to
- 17:02murder her. Oh my goodness.
- 17:04Think all that is holy that criminals are so stupid.
- 17:12And but also remember guys, that even with the stupidity of this
- 17:19criminal, they had to work hard to solve this case.
- 17:22Doctor Kenny Clark, my buddy Kenny, I have two, two Kenneys
- 17:26that are buddies of mine. How many Kenneys can a man have
- 17:29in his life anyway? I have two Kenneys, 1 is a
- 17:33quadruple board certified forensic pathologist and he told
- 17:36me on this here program, hey, solving murder is hard.
- 17:41It's very hard. And so we shouldn't take this
- 17:45for granted, right? All the hard work that went into
- 17:47this, but starting with starting with the school district.
- 17:52And rescue. At this time, I would like to
- 17:55invite Special Agent in Charge Patrick Grandy, executive from
- 17:59the FBI Los Angeles Field office to speak about the FB is key
- 18:04role in supporting this investigation.
- 18:15Good afternoon. My name is Patrick Grandy, I'm
- 18:18Special Agent in Charge with the FB is Los Angeles field office.
- 18:22Various FBI field offices in multiple states devoted
- 18:26resources to this investigation, and I can confidently speak on
- 18:31behalf of all FBI employees when I say that our collective hearts
- 18:37are broken as a result of this senseless outcome.
- 18:41The agents in our Santa Maria office just north of here worked
- 18:45tirelessly for the past couple of months with the Santa Barbara
- 18:49Sheriff's Office, and this is no doubt affected them as well
- 18:53personally. Yeah, having to work on the
- 18:56murder of nine year old. As you undoubtedly were as well.
- 19:02That said, the FBI will continue to provide resources to the
- 19:06county of Santa Barbara as they pursue justice for Melody,
- 19:10whether that be laboratory services, running down leads in
- 19:14other states or other investigative assets.
- 19:20As I mentioned, this investigation spanned multiple
- 19:22states. FBI field offices in Denver,
- 19:27Kansas City, Las Vegas, Omaha, Salt Lake City, San Diego and
- 19:35San Francisco, as well as numerous other local partners
- 19:39provided resources. In particular, as the sheriff
- 19:42mentioned, the department, the Wayne County Sheriff's
- 19:46Department in Utah and their medical examiner for their
- 19:50dedication to melodies remains once they were found.
- 19:55Can you just imagine being, being that couple that found
- 19:59that little body? I mean, you would be able to
- 20:03recognize that as a small, small body.
- 20:06Oh, that would just be tragic. Me, as I would like to recognize
- 20:09the following agencies that also played a significant role in
- 20:12this investigation. As the Sheriff mentioned, it was
- 20:15quite extensive. From the state of Colorado, the
- 20:19Chaffey County Sheriff's Office, the Colorado Bureau of
- 20:22Investigation, Colorado Department of Transportation,
- 20:26Colorado State Police, Fremont County Sheriff's Office.
- 20:30Grand Junction, Co Police Department.
- 20:32Gunnison Police Department. Gunnison Sheriff's Office.
- 20:36Salida Police Department. From the state of Nebraska the
- 20:42Nebraska State Police. From the State of Utah, the
- 20:47Paiute County Sheriff's Office, Saint George Police Department,
- 20:52the Utah State Bureau of Investigation, and the Utah
- 20:56Department of Public Safety. Lastly, I'd like to recognize
- 21:01the media for reporting on this story continuously.
- 21:05Hey, this is actually really important.
- 21:07And I think that the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Office did a
- 21:10pretty fantastic job of working hard to make sure that the media
- 21:15had enough information. They, they even kind of trickled
- 21:18it out in order for there to be new stories.
- 21:22I don't know if it was necessarily that was their plan,
- 21:24but that's the effect of it, right?
- 21:26New stories as new things come out and that that that kept
- 21:31everybody focused. For members of the public who
- 21:34called in tips, we continue to urge anyone with information
- 21:39about Melody's murder to contact law enforcement.
- 21:43Thank you. And I'll turn it back over to
- 21:45the Sheriff. Thank you.
- 21:52Let me just conclude by saying these remarks.
- 21:59The circumstances of Melody Buzzard's murder are
- 22:03heartbreaking. Yeah.
- 22:05All of us who have been involved in this case have been deeply
- 22:10affected by it. We were hoping against hope that
- 22:15she would be safely found. This outcome is deeply tragic,
- 22:21and on behalf of the entire Santa Barbara County Sheriff's
- 22:24Office, I want to extend our deepest condolences to those who
- 22:29knew and loved Melody. Yet remember that Melody had
- 22:36like grown siblings. At least one.
- 22:40I think there was more than one from her father's side.
- 22:43They were estranged, right? But who wanted to know Melody?
- 22:48Who? Who loved Melody in the absence
- 22:51of their life and and no longer have her?
- 22:55It's just sad. I want to take a moment to speak
- 22:58directly to the Mesa and Buzzard families who have endured
- 23:03unimaginable pain throughout this ordeal.
- 23:07Their strength, their patience, and their steadfast hope have
- 23:12been evident from the very beginning.
- 23:15No family should ever have to experience this kind of loss,
- 23:20and our hearts are with them today, and we'll be with them in
- 23:24the difficult days ahead. We stand with them, and we
- 23:28remain committed to securing justice for Melody.
- 23:33I also want to thank the members of the media, both you here in
- 23:37our region and those out of state for your continued
- 23:42coverage, including the conveyance of Melody's image and
- 23:47the circumstances of her disappearance all across
- 23:50America. Yeah, your involvement played a
- 23:53meaningful role in advancing this investigation.
- 23:57You know the interesting if I can just interrupt this before
- 24:01the questions be in. We got about 5 minutes left on
- 24:03this video, but the difference between a, a law enforcement
- 24:11organization and agency that will successfully partner with
- 24:16the media in order to move their case forward versus one who put
- 24:22places himself as an adversary to the media.
- 24:26I, I think about the Emanuel Harrow case, right?
- 24:31Oh my goodness, this little baby Emanuel, do you, do you remember
- 24:37just how adversarial the that was all in the Inland Empire,
- 24:44right in Southern California? Remember how adversarial that
- 24:48was? And contrast that here with this
- 24:52press conference here and with their behavior the entire time.
- 24:57How can the media help us? That law enforcement agencies
- 25:00need to understand that there is an interest in crime it and
- 25:04there are many reasons for it. Some of it's just morbid
- 25:07curiosity. Some of it is a deep desire to
- 25:10understand the criminal mind and, and there's a giant
- 25:15spectrum of reasons why we care about crime, but they need to
- 25:20understand that we will be making content.
- 25:24The from the largest news organizations to the lowliest
- 25:28Youtubers like me, we will be making content because it
- 25:31matters to us. This little girl, this little 9
- 25:34year old girl who we never knew matters to us.
- 25:40And this, the law enforcement personnel who worked on this
- 25:44case did an excellent job of working with the media to keep
- 25:49keep everything alive, to keep the story going, to make it so
- 25:53that people would be on the lookout, to incentivize other
- 25:56law enforcement agencies to work work to continue to work hard on
- 26:00the case. Because I'm sure they feel the
- 26:02same cynicism and exhaustion that all of us do, maybe even
- 26:09more so. I mean, it's probably very hard
- 26:13to maintain your heart when, you know, expressing to the world
- 26:18how deeply sorry you are that this 9 year old girl has been
- 26:23murdered with gunshot wounds to the head.
- 26:26When you see that kind of thing day in and day out, I bet it's
- 26:29very hard to maintain that level of sympathy, that level of
- 26:33empathy. So man, I just, I Can't Sing
- 26:38their praises enough. This this was a very, very good
- 26:41law enforcement effort over many law enforcement agencies.
- 26:47To the members of our community who followed this case closely,
- 26:52thank you for your engagement, for your support, and for your
- 26:57willingness to come forward with information.
- 27:00The loss of a child is among the most profound tragedies any
- 27:06community can endure, and that loss is exacerbated when it is
- 27:11at the hand of someone else, and particularly at the hand of the
- 27:15one who should have loved them the most.
- 27:19Today, we stand together in grief, but also with resolve.
- 27:26Melody deserved a far better life than she had.
- 27:31We will honor her memory by ensuring that every step of this
- 27:35process is handled with care, compassion, and a steadfast
- 27:39commitment to justice. Our investigation does not end
- 27:44here. We will continue working closely
- 27:47with prosecutors and ensure that the judicial process moves
- 27:51forward with integrity. May God bless the innocent soul
- 27:58of Melody Aulani Buzzard. Who we will never.
- 28:03Ever forget. Thank you.
- 28:07And I'll now turn it back over to our Pio Raquelson.
- 28:13We have a lot of some time if anybody has any follow up
- 28:15questions again reinforcing the fact that we do have an ongoing
- 28:18investigation and while we're trying to balance transparency
- 28:22with a, you know, seeking justice formality.
- 28:24So we do have a an opportunity to take just a few questions.
- 28:28Yes, Crystal. Yeah, Raquel, I'm just curious,
- 28:30you know, do we? Believe that this is a good PIO
- 28:32here by the way. Or is there any potential leaks
- 28:33that other? Side.
- 28:37So the question is, do we believe that Ashley acted alone
- 28:40in this homicide? This PIOP I/O stands for Public
- 28:44Information Officer, if I'm not mistaken.
- 28:48She repeats every question so that everybody, even us, we can
- 28:52hear the questions. It's terrific.
- 28:53She's like, well done freaking Santa Barbara County Sheriff's
- 28:57Office. Turn it over to.
- 28:58It's a good staff. To Lieutenant Gotschall, please
- 29:02step to the party. Thank you for your question on
- 29:06investigation, as far as revealed that this at this time
- 29:08we don't believe that anyone else was involved.
- 29:14I hear. Yes, the Sheriff mentioned the
- 29:17retrieval of cartridges. Yes, alive rounds is the murder
- 29:21weapon in evidence. So the question is about the
- 29:26location of the murder weapon. If we have that in our evidence
- 29:30or in our possession at this time, I'll turn that over to
- 29:32Sheriff Brown. Thank you.
- 29:35Yeah. The short answer is no, we do
- 29:37not have the the murder weapon yet, but we continue to seek it.
- 29:41I wonder if they will find that. I'll come back to you for your
- 29:45follow up question in just a moment.
- 29:46Go. Ahead.
- 29:46Sorry, real quick, the the fact that we've got what 22 thousand
- 29:522500 miles that have been driven that that gun could have been
- 29:57disposed of in pieces in multiple places across the
- 30:03across 1000 miles, right? Like just OK, well there is the
- 30:08barrel out the window, there is the spring out the window, there
- 30:12is the mag out there and so on and so forth, right.
- 30:15That could just be disposed of just littered across the fruited
- 30:21plains will this case. Be tried in Converter County or
- 30:25elsewhere? OK, So the question is where the
- 30:26where this trial will take place.
- 30:29I believe Sheriff Brown will have a response for that.
- 30:33Yes, the the plan is that this trial will take place here since
- 30:38the intent was believed to have been formed here in Harts
- 30:43County. Starting from the beginning and.
- 30:45Going on this road trip and committing the actual crime so
- 30:47we're. Going to have room for just a
- 30:51couple more questions. I'll be back here.
- 30:53Yes. And for any of you I know early.
- 30:56And then that's the most polite press corps I've ever heard in
- 31:00those various she'll she'll repeat the question.
- 31:02Have that area in Wayne County been searched at all?
- 31:07So the question is if investigators on their initial
- 31:11routes had been through that area of Wayne County.
- 31:14I believe you're asking if we specifically probably been to
- 31:16the the scene of the crime. I'm going to refer to Lieutenant
- 31:20Goshal for that. Thank you for your question.
- 31:24We've been following a ton of leads, looking at a lot of
- 31:26different data and information. It is an expansive area of the
- 31:29United States that we're researching.
- 31:31Half the especially. We didn't have specific location
- 31:33information until recently. Thank.
- 31:36You. It's almost half of the US, yes.
- 31:38When can we expect? A bug shot of Ashley.
- 31:43For those of you who live outside of the United States,
- 31:46this is what happens on the East Coast.
- 31:48We're all kind of crammed together, a bunch of little
- 31:50states all kind of crammed together.
- 31:51And then as you head W, it's a, it's an artifact of the
- 31:56migration West, right? The Manifest Destiny as it was
- 31:59called back then, these territories became larger and
- 32:01larger and larger. So when we're talking about
- 32:03California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska,
- 32:09Kansas, though it is only 6 out of 50 states, it is a vast, huge
- 32:15swath. Probably not half, but maybe 30%
- 32:20of the entire United States is the crime scene, right?
- 32:25So yeah, that's real tough. I'll have you e-mail me on.
- 32:29Privately, they asked about when the mug shot will be available.
- 32:32We'll take one final question here and then that that'll be a
- 32:35wrap for us. Yes.
- 32:36Is there a motive that you can share with us at all?
- 32:39The question is, is to a motive. If we have one established, I'll
- 32:43I'll have Sheriff Brown cover. Haven't seen a mug shot yet.
- 32:48I we have not just. Established A motive.
- 32:50At this point, we have obviously established that it is what's
- 32:54known as a phylicide, the, the, the slaying of a of a child, of
- 32:59a child, in this case a maternal philicide.
- 33:03And there's been a lot of study and a lot of discussion about
- 33:05that and what motivates people to do that.
- 33:09But as far as an actual direct motive, we haven't established
- 33:13that yet. Philicide, by the way, comes
- 33:16from Fila. And Fila, can you describe for,
- 33:22I mean it's daughter and son, it might be Filio.
- 33:27Can you talk about her gym here now?
- 33:29Yeah, I can tell you that as of as of this morning, no, there
- 33:33was no change. In her.
- 33:35Her attitude and her demeanor so uncooperative.
- 33:42Thank you all very much for coming out and for, you know,
- 33:45being patient with us through this process, not just today,
- 33:47but throughout the entirety of of the investigation.
- 33:50And again, we we really do appreciate the media's coverage
- 33:52of this very important case and that's going to conclude our
- 33:55press conference for today. Thank you very much.
- 33:57All right, I'm going to go ahead and end it there.
- 33:59So let's just filius and filia are the Latin words for son and
- 34:04daughter. So that's that's where that
- 34:06comes from. Let me see if I'm going to
- 34:09refresh here. Goodness sake, there's so many
- 34:11comments. Let me just, yeah, I'm probably
- 34:17going to miss several of your comments just because the of the
- 34:21refresh. Robin says.
- 34:23I mean, the mom doesn't act like a super normal person.
- 34:25She is an odd duck indeed. Oh, yeah.
- 34:29Also went to Wyoming. Thank you, Debbie.
- 34:32Yeah. So California, Nevada, Arizona,
- 34:35Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas.
- 34:39Thank you. I missed Wyoming.
- 34:42Of course you can't go from Colorado to Nebraska or, let's
- 34:47see, from Utah to Colorado. I get.
- 34:52Well, no, they it's weird. Yeah, they stack, but OK.
- 34:56Yeah, certainly have to go through Wyoming to get to
- 35:03Nebraska. Let's see.
- 35:04I'm just seeing GF from Beck's Cannon, but I don't see an
- 35:07actual question. I got to put GF and your
- 35:10question. Joanne Marie, 47 years ago
- 35:18today, I gave birth to my first child.
- 35:22I died on the delivery table, but was brought back.
- 35:25Wow. I just can't understand how you
- 35:27can go through and have no respect for the life you've
- 35:32created. Well, I am.
- 35:35I'm glad they brought you back, Joanne.
- 35:36But yeah. What?
- 35:38Let's bring up Melody's picture. What?
- 35:41What a perfect illustration of just like.
- 35:44Like, what has gone wrong here? Right.
- 35:47What has gone wrong? Mooney asked when was Melody
- 35:52found? I think they said let me go to
- 35:55the timeline here real quick. Her body was discovered on
- 36:02December 6th by two people taking pictures in the area of
- 36:06East State Route 24 in Wayne County, which I showed you here.
- 36:14They were. They were in this area.
- 36:16She was found on W Caneville Rd. which only looks to be maybe
- 36:231000 feet long or so. I'm looking at the looking at
- 36:27scale there. So or a quarter mile maybe
- 36:31something like that. So this article from KSBY says
- 36:36December 6th, December 6th through the state of
- 36:40decomposition, DNA confirmation was needed to positively
- 36:43identify her remains. Thank you for the question,
- 36:47Mooney. And keep on going through here.
- 36:55Yeah Julie Martina, horrible news today indeed, indeed keep
- 37:02on scrolling here I've got a couple of minutes content Angel,
- 37:09you wouldn't be saying that if he grew up there and did news
- 37:12there Gavin, like I did. I'm not following I'm not
- 37:16following the the comment. I'm I'm sorry that because of
- 37:20the delay between when you say something, when I say something,
- 37:23when you reply and when I read it, I, I don't know, I, I'm not
- 37:28following you. Sorry.
- 37:28Content Angel Liv Wade 1993 Oh, hey, we got a couple 1993's in
- 37:36the in the chat here. We got kitties 1993 too. 1993 is
- 37:40the year that I graduated from high school.
- 37:42It's very important fact. Look at this.
- 37:45This is my my yearbook from graduating high school.
- 37:49I'm scanning it for a friend who lost her yearbook in a fire.
- 37:54So anyway, Liv Wade says I've been watching Gavin forever and
- 37:58I'm just never in chat. But this case got me.
- 38:01I'm it got a lot of us. Thanks for your comment Jen.
- 38:06Saint Peter. Always late but I made it to my
- 38:08first live woohoo. Just caught up on two time speed
- 38:11because I was horrified to see the update.
- 38:14I weirdly thought she might be alive with someone.
- 38:16A lot of us hoped, man, a lot of us hoped that she left.
- 38:22She left Melody within the care of somebody that for some crazy
- 38:26reason didn't want to disclose who that someone was, I guess.
- 38:31But, yeah, it didn't turn out that way.
- 38:35Gavin. I have says peanuts.
- 38:37Mom. I have the feeling where it
- 38:38happened that she dumped the weapon in the river that is
- 38:41nearby. Let's see.
- 38:46Oh, yeah. That's the the Fremont River
- 38:52going back over here for you guys to see it though.
- 38:56I mean, in that part of Utah, I don't know that specific part of
- 38:59Utah. You guys know I was born in
- 39:01Utah. My parents are Utah kids.
- 39:05But when it comes to southern Utah, I just don't know it all
- 39:08that well. But that almost looks like a
- 39:11seasonal river. It's, I don't know, maybe it's
- 39:18possible Possible that is what happened.
- 39:22Maybe she's stupid enough to do something like that.
- 39:24Maybe they're still looking in that area.
- 39:27Could be bring up a different picture.
- 39:30Look at that little girl. You know what?
- 39:33This. I was just reminded of this.
- 39:34There are no recent photos of Melody Buzzard because nobody
- 39:41seems to have them here. She was in disguise that day.
- 39:46What was that? October 7th at the rental car
- 39:49agency. But the only pictures we have of
- 39:54her are when she's a little little pumpkin.
- 39:57Oh my goodness, aren't little girls the best?
- 40:03I prayed that our first child would be a girl because my my
- 40:07oldest sibling is a girl and I just thought best way to start a
- 40:11family is to have a daughter to start us out and we were.
- 40:16We were blessed with an oldest daughter.
- 40:19Aren't they just the sweetest? My goodness sake.
- 40:24Oh, heartbreaking. OK, Mooney says many have asked
- 40:29what state will actually be face justice.
- 40:31Yeah, he said that at the end of the press conference.
- 40:34It'll be in California. Beck's cannon for her to have
- 40:40the shell casing and then the same kind of bullet at her
- 40:46house, like, she clearly wanted to get caught because she sure
- 40:49did and tried to hide that part. Yeah.
- 40:52Yeah. Again, stupidity right?
- 40:55Here is here are some pictures of Ashley Buzzard.
- 41:00She has a very different look these days.
- 41:04That is an angry look. Look at that look.
- 41:09Her posture is impeccable, though.
- 41:13My goodness. Yeah.
- 41:17Anyway, let's get Melody back up on there.
- 41:19Mooney, I will not disregard the earlier question because that's
- 41:22not the direction I go. Yeah.
- 41:28Why? Ruby's asking the $64,000
- 41:31question, right? They said in the press
- 41:33conference we have no idea what the motive is.
- 41:36And this is always the thing that we want to know.
- 41:38What? What?
- 41:39What the devil, man, What the devil?
- 41:42It's so hard. Couple more here.
- 41:48Peanuts. Mom says if you go into the map
- 41:50view where they say the road is, there is a boat ramp or like a
- 41:54driveway into the river. I have a feeling that's where
- 41:56she dumped the weapon. Let's let's take a look at that,
- 42:04see if I can. I see a Washington there.
- 42:07Oh, Oh, yeah, There this, this is more like a little delta,
- 42:12right? There are little creeks all over
- 42:13the place. And that does look like there's
- 42:17some sort of way to get into the water there in the loop.
- 42:21It's hard to hard to say. See if it.
- 42:28Yeah, it's that that's a rural high desert area man out in the
- 42:34middle of nowhere. Couple more.
- 42:39Mooney, thank you so much for giving some gift memberships.
- 42:42And Speaking of gifts, you know, today is our last day before the
- 42:46Christmas break. I am so glad you guys give me
- 42:51the gift of watching my videos and I'm deeply, deeply, deeply
- 42:55grateful for it. Thank you so much.
- 42:58And Moni, thank you for sending those gift memberships.
- 43:00Peanuts, mom, I seriously hope that Melody did not know what
- 43:03was coming, that her horrid birth giver didn't let her see
- 43:07what was about to happen. I hope so, too.
- 43:11So she was seen at the rental car place before school called
- 43:14to check on her. Yes.
- 43:15But they didn't discover that until after.
- 43:20They didn't discover. It was as they were doing their
- 43:24investigation that they discovered that Joanne Marie,
- 43:28and she has the nerve to set up a shrine for her in her living
- 43:31room according to what's his name.
- 43:33I can't remember his name now. Yeah.
- 43:35It's also heartbreaking. Guys, let's see.
- 43:39We've got a couple more minutes here.
- 43:41I want to get into one of our segments.
- 43:44It's going to be a brief 1. And that is headlines.
- 43:48Here we go, true crime headlines, POW guys, I've been
- 43:59keeping a close watch on the Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner
- 44:03singer murders that happened last Sunday, a little over a
- 44:07week ago in Brentwood, CA. In fact, tonight's live stream
- 44:11was going to be dedicated to the psychology of why people why
- 44:18people kill their parents. But I did want to bring up 1
- 44:22little piece of news that has come out just a little bit.
- 44:27This coming from People magazine, world.people.com.
- 44:31Are magazines a thing still? I don't even, I don't even know.
- 44:34Rob and Michelle Reiner died minutes after injuries, death
- 44:37certificates reveal. Let's see, Rob Reiner and his
- 44:42wife Michelle's official death certificates confirm details
- 44:44about their killings obtained by People Today.
- 44:47The documents confirm Rob, 78, and Michelle, 70, died of
- 44:50multiple sharp force injuries inside their Los Angeles home on
- 44:55Sunday the 14th. Cause with quote caused quote
- 45:00with knife by other by another with knife by another that a has
- 45:06been added in there. I don't know why they did that
- 45:08With knife by another. The time between the onset of
- 45:11injuries and death is listed as minutes.
- 45:15And yeah, I, I hope, I just truly hope that they did not.
- 45:25Well, it says that it took minutes, which is, no, it's not
- 45:30great. It's, it's a mercy, let's say,
- 45:34but I'm, I'm hoping that their consciousness was gone, like
- 45:38they were unconscious for those last few minutes.
- 45:41I really do. The death certificates indicate
- 45:45Rob was found first around 3:45 PM and Michelle, who is listed
- 45:49as widowed, was discovered at 3:46 PM.
- 45:54Oh, and that would have been the official discovery, not the
- 45:57daughter discovery. I think.
- 46:00They have since been cremated, according to death certificates.
- 46:03People previously reported that their bodies were repatriated
- 46:06the family on the 16th. Yeah.
- 46:09And of course, Nick Reiner has been arrested in the murder of
- 46:15his folks. And those are that is the only
- 46:19headline that I have for you tonight.
- 46:21Let's head on in, shall we? To the last segment of the show.
- 46:25It's three questions. It's three questions with Gavin
- 46:30Fish. How?
- 46:37All right, guys, you know the rules.
- 46:39Maybe you don't. Maybe you're new here.
- 46:40You don't know the rules. And this is pretty recent, but
- 46:43in the final segment of the show, we like to, I like to
- 46:46answer 3 questions submitted by you and you can submit them to
- 46:50three questions at gavinfish.com.
- 46:52That's spelled out. THREE questions at
- 46:55gavinfish.com, three questions at gavinfish.com.
- 46:58Now don't cheat and use three questions at gavinfish.com to
- 47:02just send me an e-mail that does.
- 47:04It doesn't work that way. Those just get trashed.
- 47:07I need questions and we're running low on questions, so
- 47:12send them in. If you have a question, simpler,
- 47:16complex, large or small, send them on in to me and I will
- 47:21answer those questions to the best of my ability.
- 47:24In fact, that's my solemn promise that I will answer your
- 47:27questions to the best, to the very best of my ability.
- 47:31Question number one is I think they were asking in terms of
- 47:36when I was a child, did I have a favorite cereal.
- 47:41Now you could also answer or ask this question, do you have a
- 47:45favorite cereal? And it would be the very same
- 47:48answer. There is only one answer to the
- 47:51world's best cereal. There are variations, I grant
- 47:55you, but that is Captain Crunch. That is the best cereal in the
- 48:02world. And let me tell you why.
- 48:04Because apparently I'm a masochist.
- 48:09I like to be able to taste the metallic taste of blood from the
- 48:15lacerations to the top of my palate from the good Captain's
- 48:21Crunch. I like it crunchy.
- 48:24Now, I admittedly, I have not eaten any of the aforementioned
- 48:29Captain's Crunch in many years, but I would I I look forward to
- 48:35doing so at my earliest convenience.
- 48:37Right now it's not convenient, but and then the variations of
- 48:42course are crunch berries and then only crunch berries as long
- 48:46as the lacerations exist. That is the best cereal.
- 48:52In all seriousness, I just loved how it like state it kept its
- 48:55kept its crunch. I mean, we're not talking this
- 49:00is not corporal crunch. This is not Lieutenant Crunch,
- 49:06this is Captain Crunch. This is a high-ranking officer.
- 49:09It's got to keep that crunch. So that is my favorite cereal
- 49:12and always has been. I didn't get it a lot my my mom.
- 49:17I maintain that the meanest moms really are the best moms.
- 49:22And my mom just had a mean streak in her.
- 49:24She we only had like Cheerios and Wheaties.
- 49:26Man who feeds their child in the 80s.
- 49:30Cheerios and Wheaties when the good captain is available for to
- 49:35be crunching. I don't know, but that's what it
- 49:38is. A second question.
- 49:40Olivia Newton John or Linda Ronstadt at Listen, all due
- 49:45respect to Miss Ronstadt, whose talent is nearly beyond
- 49:51reproach. Nearly.
- 49:53Have you heard blue by you? Oh, it just is so good.
- 49:58But I got it. I got to give it to Olivia
- 49:59Newton John. And let me tell you why, again,
- 50:04is a child born in the 70s, raised in the 80s and 90s, that
- 50:08may have been the handsomest woman in the history of women.
- 50:13And she was in movies, she was an actress, she was a singer.
- 50:19She did sweaty music videos. Come on, Xanadu.
- 50:24Xanadu is my guilty pleasure. I, I love that movie.
- 50:27And I know that everybody's like, oh, you know, it's dated.
- 50:30And no, it is not that scene where Gene Kelly and the main
- 50:38dude, I can't remember his name right now I'm blanking, are
- 50:43envisioning their club and 1 is like a 1940s big band and 1 is a
- 50:471980's rock band and they come together.
- 50:51I'm sorry, it's classic. Plus, it is the music of
- 50:54Electric Light Orchestra that is Jeff Lynn is a so Olivia Newton
- 51:00John, and maybe my favorite appearance of Olivia Newton John
- 51:05happened just just maybe a couple years before her death.
- 51:08She was a guest singer with the legendary Roots crew on The
- 51:13Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And if you haven't seen it, she
- 51:15is terrific. So yeah, my choice, Olivia
- 51:18Newton John question #3 which board game would you prefer to
- 51:23play, Monopoly or Clue? This is the easiest question
- 51:26that has ever been posed to the bearded one.
- 51:29Yours truly. Listen, Monopoly is just some
- 51:35game manufacturers attempt at torturing all of us.
- 51:41It is the world's worst game. It is the worst, the worst.
- 51:47Now I like I do like Clue. So out of Monopoly or Clue.
- 51:51Clue for sure, but I'm not really a board game guy.
- 51:54Fun fact though, well, and the thing I like about Clue is like,
- 51:58you can play it with kids and you can simplify it, right?
- 52:01You can just simplify it play with kids.
- 52:03Oh, Monopoly is just torture. I would anyway.
- 52:10But fun fact, with the exception, if memory serves, on
- 52:14the Clue board, I think there is a billiard room.
- 52:22With the exception of the billiard room, which in our case
- 52:26is the music room. The clue board is the first
- 52:31floor of our house. Almost exactly, almost exactly
- 52:40where the billiard room is on the on the board.
- 52:43That's where our music room is. It's of course there aren't
- 52:46halls in between each room, but if you go around the house that
- 52:51is that's our house. And so I like playing Clue for
- 52:55that reason. Those, my friends, are your
- 52:58three questions. I'd love it if you'd send me in
- 53:08three questions. Three questions at
- 53:10gavinfish.com. That's and I've appreciated the
- 53:13questions that have come in, but yeah, over the over the little
- 53:16Christmas break because we're not going to be live streaming
- 53:18tomorrow or Thursday, which is Christmas Day.
