- 0:22Speaker 1: still Comfy movie review with Julia Washington. I hope you

- 0:38Speaker 1: To All the Men I've Tolerated Before.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Hey, friends, this is still Comfy with Jules and Nat.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I'm your host, Julia Washington, I host Pop Culture Makes
- 1:10Speaker 2: Me Jealous, where we analyze pop culture through the lens
- 1:12Speaker 2: of race or gender and sometimes both. As always, I
- 1:16Speaker 2: am joined by Natalie Katona. Hit it, Natalie, It's me.
- 1:20Speaker 2: I'm Natalie Katona. I'm the host and producer of two
- 1:24Speaker 2: All the Men I've Tolerated Before, your weekly look at
- 1:28Speaker 2: every day misogyny, and we are I become like a
- 1:32Speaker 2: like a sleight of hand magician every time we do this.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I mean, maybe maybe you're not fully Croatian.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Maybe there's some Italian blood in there that tracks. That tracks.
- 1:46Speaker 2: We are joined today with Paige from For Folk's Sake.
- 1:49Speaker 2: She's a fellow podcaster, and we are very excited because
- 1:52Speaker 2: she's our very first like guest ever here on still comfy,
- 1:56Speaker 2: as our loyal listeners know, it's just Natalie and I
- 2:00Speaker 2: talking about something that digresses into FaceTime. Yeah, and we're
- 2:05Speaker 2: very excited to have Page here. She is not only
- 2:08Speaker 2: a dedicated watcher of our love or watcher of our
- 2:12Speaker 2: live shows, as I'm trying to say, and our love, Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Dedicated to loyal. We love her.
- 2:18Speaker 2: She also hosts her own podcast, So I'm gonna throw
- 2:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna let Page give you the rundown on who
- 2:24Speaker 2: she is and her show.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Hello everyone, Natalie, Julia's listeners and friends. My name is Paige.
- 2:31Speaker 4: I'm the host of the For Folks Sake podcasts, and
- 2:34Speaker 4: our premise is that you never say no to a
- 2:36Speaker 4: conversation because you always learn something from it. So we're
- 2:40Speaker 4: all about education through conversation, figuring out what we can learn,
- 2:44Speaker 4: and we literally talk where I literally talk to everyone
- 2:47Speaker 4: about everything, even the uncomfortable topics. So it's fun.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I love that.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I love that and we're super glad you're here. And
- 2:55Speaker 2: I recently did a recording with Paige. I feel like
- 2:58Speaker 2: Natalie and Page are also going to be doing a
- 3:00Speaker 2: recording at some point, so we're just like at this
- 3:02Speaker 2: point episode swapping because that's what you do when you're
- 3:05Speaker 2: friends and you also podcast true, right, Natalie, were you
- 3:09Speaker 2: going to say something?
- 3:10Speaker 3: You look like you were going to say something.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Well, first off, Page, welcome to the only way that
- 3:15Speaker 1: I spend time with my friends. So this is it
- 3:19Speaker 1: if you would like to book time on the calende
- 3:22Speaker 1: to get me to work. But look at you and
- 3:26Speaker 1: be like, remember how we were friends. This is how
- 3:28Speaker 1: you do it. Everything's for content.
- 3:30Speaker 3: You're gonna give me that. I dropped that link into
- 3:33Speaker 3: the chat.
- 3:33Speaker 1: So people who are FU time, what's hour Yes?
- 3:37Speaker 4: Right, what's your hourly rate?
- 3:41Speaker 1: Fifty jewels?
- 3:42Speaker 4: Hit it?
- 3:43Speaker 1: And I was going to remind our live listeners that
- 3:48Speaker 1: if you are alive, because we use the third party
- 3:51Speaker 1: stream yard system, they have to drop us a comment
- 3:55Speaker 1: to tell us hello or else we won't know that
- 3:57Speaker 1: they're there.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Also true, yes, thank you for that for my mind
- 4:00Speaker 2: under my fellow co host, because I mean, there needs
- 4:03Speaker 2: to be two of us for a reason. If you
- 4:05Speaker 2: are here and you are enjoying our show so far,
- 4:08Speaker 2: drop as a comment so we know that you're here,
- 4:10Speaker 2: so we can bring you into the conversation because.
- 4:14Speaker 3: You know we love to do that. Okay, today, I'm
- 4:18Speaker 3: still comfy. We are looking at Mama Mia, Mamma Julia.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Here I go, Here, I go again. That's what it is.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Mama hot Alexis.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yes, welcome Alexis. We're excited you're here.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Mama Mia, as you all know, was released July eighteenth,
- 4:39Speaker 2: two thousand and eight, so it's been a hot minute.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It is the film adaptation of the Jukebox musical I
- 4:47Speaker 2: didn't come up with that of the same name that
- 4:50Speaker 2: first premiered in London in April of nineteen ninety nine,
- 4:53Speaker 2: so it took a long time for it to become
- 4:54Speaker 2: a screen adaptation. So in our over at pop Culture
- 4:58Speaker 2: Makes Jealous, we always kick off with the question of
- 5:04Speaker 2: what is it about this movie that you loved and why? So,
- 5:07Speaker 2: why don't we just dive from there and then we'll
- 5:09Speaker 2: just turn this into a FaceTime call.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Perfect think you can go first, because this was your pick.
- 5:16Speaker 4: True, it is my pick. I think mostly though I
- 5:21Speaker 4: would like to say, I think I like it mostly
- 5:24Speaker 4: because there's like a nostalgia factor attached to it, where
- 5:28Speaker 4: like me and my cousins we would be like in
- 5:31Speaker 4: the living room jumping off the couches, like the scene
- 5:34Speaker 4: where she's like jumping on the bed, like we would
- 5:37Speaker 4: do that too, So there's a lot of nostalgia attached
- 5:39Speaker 4: to it. But rewatching it, I feel like I had
- 5:42Speaker 4: a very deep appreciation for like even though it felt
- 5:47Speaker 4: you know, I'm a theater kid, so even though it
- 5:48Speaker 4: felt like a production like a theater production, it still
- 5:51Speaker 4: flowed very well. And it also had a lot of
- 5:57Speaker 4: themes that when I was rewatching it, I was like, Oh,
- 6:00Speaker 4: I wonder, like, for example, is anyone gonna shame her
- 6:04Speaker 4: for her the mother for her like sexual promiscuity at
- 6:07Speaker 4: the time, So I was like, I don't really remember
- 6:10Speaker 4: if anyone like really did shame her or if it
- 6:13Speaker 4: was like her self shame And so it was fun
- 6:16Speaker 4: to revisit it with good lenses and plus, like who
- 6:19Speaker 4: doesn't love abba, Like, honestly, every time I'm sad, I
- 6:23Speaker 4: just listened to Gimme, Gimme, gimme so oh. The soundtracks
- 6:27Speaker 4: like honestly better than the movie. I do love the movie,
- 6:30Speaker 4: but I could listen to the soundtrack every day of
- 6:32Speaker 4: my life.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Love that.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Mama Mia was the first professional Broadway tour that my
- 6:40Speaker 1: mother took me to.
- 6:41Speaker 3: You so you saw it on stage?
- 6:43Speaker 1: I saw it on stage?
- 6:44Speaker 3: Oh, I love that? How old are you So Wicked?
- 6:48Speaker 1: Is technically I think the first musical I saw professionally
- 6:51Speaker 1: done in Chicago on their in one of their Broadway theaters.
- 6:55Speaker 1: But I went with a friend and her mom, so
- 6:58Speaker 1: it was right around that, like fifteen to seventeen age mark,
- 7:03Speaker 1: or maybe Mama Mia was first and I was younger.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Who's to say, time is a construct?
- 7:08Speaker 4: Oh?
- 7:08Speaker 1: Wildly and supervised, wildly and supervised. I never knew how
- 7:12Speaker 1: old I was. I still don't. And I do remember
- 7:18Speaker 1: that at the very end, when it's the wedding reception,
- 7:22Speaker 1: you are invited to dance for the last number, and
- 7:25Speaker 1: that is when my mother chose for us to leave,
- 7:28Speaker 1: And I'm like, they just.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Told us we could dance.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You sat through all of that abbot having to control
- 7:36Speaker 2: yourself in the seat of the theater.
- 7:39Speaker 3: My mother did not electrical blue balls right, yes, theatrical.
- 7:44Speaker 1: My mother did not let me bump nor grind and
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm upset, jive, you know, hustle, any of it. This
- 7:55Speaker 1: go around, when I was watching Mama Mia, I love
- 7:57Speaker 1: this movie. It really impassioned me to become a sea
- 8:05Speaker 1: hag on the Mediterranean. I will be a sea hag
- 8:09Speaker 1: this year for Halloween, probably a sexy one. I can't
- 8:13Speaker 1: help it, and crop tops. Once I make my money,
- 8:19Speaker 1: you won't be able to find me because I will
- 8:21Speaker 1: be living on a cliff via Meryl Streep on the
- 8:26Speaker 1: Mediterranean Sea, looking at that blue every day.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Covered in linen, covered in linen, telling me that that's
- 8:35Speaker 4: how we're breaking up as creative partners.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Yeah, but we'll be old. I'll be a hag. I'll
- 8:40Speaker 1: have finally evolved into my.
- 8:42Speaker 2: Hollywood's definition of a hag is forty, so we ain't
- 8:46Speaker 2: got much time, or at least I don't.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Okay. So my grand aunts never aged, so I'm like
- 8:52Speaker 1: holding on to that.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 8:54Speaker 1: My mother also not aging, probably aging backwards like Benja
- 9:00Speaker 1: Mian button this go around. Besides the Mediterranean Sea, I
- 9:03Speaker 1: also tried to focus on how many inconsistencies Mama Mia
- 9:08Speaker 1: here we go again.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Created for the original musical. Did you watch the second one?
- 9:14Speaker 2: Recently or did you just only watch the first one
- 9:16Speaker 2: for our chat?
- 9:17Speaker 1: I meant to watch both, and then gen con exhausted me.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I just lept through the second onefe I'm gonna be honest,
- 9:24Speaker 3: like I put it on. I'm sorry I put it
- 9:26Speaker 3: on becaus like, oh, I'm gonna watch a sequel. I
- 9:28Speaker 3: love sequels.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Lily so good at it, She's so good as young Donna.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Who is Lily James? Isn't that who plays her?
- 9:37Speaker 3: Isn't no? I mean maybe I haven't seen this sequel,
- 9:42Speaker 3: and then sheer is in it. I haven't seen.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Then you haven't seen it, you know you're talking about
- 9:49Speaker 1: Newsy's or something.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Yes, it is Lily James. You're correct, Natalie.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I love Lily James.
- 9:55Speaker 1: We all love Lily.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Remember when it was rumored that she was dating Chris Evans.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Do you remember that? I don't remember that because I
- 10:01Speaker 3: was dark in the pan It was during the first
- 10:03Speaker 3: part of the Panny, you know, right before.
- 10:06Speaker 1: We all ended up in bed with someone during the panty.
- 10:09Speaker 4: So not me?
- 10:11Speaker 3: Oh oh, just me, Okay, that's fine.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I mean you have to remember I was like working
- 10:20Speaker 2: myself to do I shaved like ten years off of
- 10:23Speaker 2: my life because of the.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Job I was doing. Was I no longer do that job? Yeah?
- 10:29Speaker 2: Okay, so let's talk about like what we're gonna do
- 10:32Speaker 2: all the easy stuff. First, do you have a favorite
- 10:35Speaker 2: scene in this film? Because Roger Ebert was like, hey,
- 10:38Speaker 2: I'm not the audience. I appreciate that he acknowledged that
- 10:41Speaker 2: he was in the audience for this movie because it
- 10:43Speaker 2: took him his whole career to finally fucking figure that
- 10:45Speaker 2: shit out. But secondly, he did say that it is
- 10:49Speaker 2: a lot of fun, and the movie version actually lends
- 10:53Speaker 2: itself for more creativity and excitement than the stage can,
- 10:57Speaker 2: because stage, as we know, can be a little restrictive.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I love how these big Broadway theatrical movies make sure
- 11:08Speaker 1: to incorporate those big chorus numbers with the choreography and everything.
- 11:13Speaker 1: So anytime we were doing that gold I got chills
- 11:16Speaker 1: when she started to do Honey, Honey, because like, I
- 11:19Speaker 1: didn't even know that this was my favorite song.
- 11:21Speaker 3: Yeah, but I sit through.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Mama Mia and Mama Mia, here we go again. So
- 11:27Speaker 1: at the end I am rewarded with Colin Firth in
- 11:32Speaker 1: a glittery jumpsuit giving it his all.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yes, yes, that's the best part.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Nothing left out of context. No, like the choreography number
- 11:43Speaker 4: in Voue Voo when that's like they're all like I'm
- 11:46Speaker 4: your dad, and she's like, ah, that's the best. I
- 11:50Speaker 4: love that.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Also, and like, honestly, like Donna was hard up for
- 11:56Speaker 1: some cash, she should have turned that hotel into a nightclub.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I was like, why didn't you think of that?
- 12:01Speaker 3: After the wedding exception?
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, I was kind of like when who was
- 12:06Speaker 2: trying to give her a check? Colin Firth is trying
- 12:07Speaker 2: to give her a check? I don't want a girl.
- 12:09Speaker 3: I would have taken that check passed like thank you.
- 12:13Speaker 3: There's not enough zeros can spelled yes, yes? Where can
- 12:18Speaker 3: I can I get the same day advance?
- 12:21Speaker 1: Colin Firth could send me a check today, I wouldn't
- 12:23Speaker 1: question it. Amen Samesis, Maybe he knocked me up, Maybe
- 12:27Speaker 1: he didn't. I don't know.
- 12:28Speaker 4: I would take a check from anybody at this time,
- 12:30Speaker 4: right who.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Wants to give me a check? If you go over
- 12:34Speaker 1: to the men I've tolerated pod Instagram, there is a
- 12:37Speaker 1: link to Venmo. You don't even have to write anything
- 12:40Speaker 1: down anymore. People, It's this easy.
- 12:44Speaker 4: Modern technology is beautiful we are all accepting checks at
- 12:48Speaker 4: the moment. One of my favorite scenes is when the
- 12:53Speaker 4: mom and her friends are singing super Trooper, Oh yeah,
- 12:57Speaker 4: that's so slow. I seriously, I remember tearing up as
- 13:00Speaker 4: a teenage girl, and I teared up last night too, not.
- 13:04Speaker 1: That anyone, I love my mom, not that anyone watched
- 13:07Speaker 1: the sequel but me. But then they revisit that in
- 13:10Speaker 1: the sequel with Alanda Seafree. If you had warned a
- 13:15Speaker 1: girl or that I had the whole sequel memorized, I
- 13:19Speaker 1: don't know you were also gonna watch The Secrets. I
- 13:22Speaker 1: didn't watch it, though, I just haven't memorized.
- 13:24Speaker 2: I said, you had it with my mother, We would
- 13:27Speaker 2: have maybe found the time.
- 13:30Speaker 3: To prepare that too.
- 13:31Speaker 1: I thought, maybe, yeah.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Was among other Share enthusiasts, and once again I find
- 13:40Speaker 1: myself alone.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I excuse me, I haven't didn't I tell you, I've
- 13:45Speaker 2: been listening to which Sonny and Share album?
- 13:47Speaker 3: Is it like on repeat? I'm pretty sure.
- 13:50Speaker 2: My neighbors are like, you need to be done, You
- 13:53Speaker 2: just need to be done, You need to be done,
- 13:55Speaker 2: And I'm like, why it's the best album ever?
- 14:00Speaker 3: Oh just don't have money to pay for it. I
- 14:03Speaker 3: had to stop it real quick.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I want to click on the album, and YouTube will
- 14:06Speaker 1: shut us Downeast YouTube.
- 14:10Speaker 4: YouTube can sense what you're gonna play, and they shut
- 14:12Speaker 4: you down before you even press playing. I know.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I hope we don't get turn.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I hope we won't get taken down because I played
- 14:18Speaker 2: two seconds of that song.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I was just trying to look at the album.
- 14:22Speaker 1: I want everyone who is watching right now to put
- 14:25Speaker 1: in the comments their favorite Abba song and maybe I'll
- 14:29Speaker 1: do a bad rendition of it.
- 14:31Speaker 3: The Sonny is it's just what is it? Is it
- 14:34Speaker 3: just called Sonny and Share. Yeah, it's just called Sonny
- 14:36Speaker 3: and Share.
- 14:37Speaker 4: It's a self titled album.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and then they just put Roman numerals after it
- 14:43Speaker 2: when they released new ones. Literally, i've been on repeat
- 14:47Speaker 2: because vity I need the seventies.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Just for a moment, all that googling for it to
- 14:52Speaker 1: be called Sonny and Share. I know, Hi, Mario, what's
- 14:58Speaker 1: your favorite Abba song?
- 15:00Speaker 3: Mario? It's about time you showed up, sir. We've been waiting, Paige.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Half past our freckles.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I would like the record to show that once again.
- 15:12Speaker 1: I was happy to see him.
- 15:14Speaker 3: I love saying, Mario, don't be mean.
- 15:17Speaker 2: We were actually literally talking before we went live about
- 15:21Speaker 2: how anyway, it's not important. Here's the next question I have, Actually, Paige,
- 15:26Speaker 2: you said he had something very that.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Was like very Oh yes, it is it time to
- 15:31Speaker 4: get into it. I mean, if you want. Yeah, I
- 15:35Speaker 4: am obsessed with the fact that the one friend is
- 15:42Speaker 4: like falling in love with a younger man and yeah,
- 15:47Speaker 4: they're like, yes, girl, it's Pepper and what's her name?
- 15:50Speaker 4: Pepper is a boy's name. I looked this up. Tanya,
- 15:54Speaker 4: Tanya and Pepper on the beach together and they're like
- 15:57Speaker 4: the night before they were like, oh, you know, he's like,
- 16:01Speaker 4: let's finish when we started, and she's like, oh no, don't.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Does your mother know where you are?
- 16:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 16:06Speaker 2: On the beach scene, and I was like, I mean, honestly,
- 16:10Speaker 2: in his defense, Christine Baransky is gorgeous.
- 16:14Speaker 1: And I love Christine Baransky.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Like, I'm not even surprised that there would be anybody
- 16:21Speaker 2: who like wouldn't want to try and hit that, and
- 16:24Speaker 2: she's so talented, she'sn't like like she's so under I
- 16:28Speaker 2: was watching it and I was like, God, Christine Gersky
- 16:30Speaker 2: is completely underrated. Like she does she is, she she's
- 16:35Speaker 2: not at the same level of famous Meryl Street. But
- 16:38Speaker 2: like I've seen her in such a wide variety of
- 16:42Speaker 2: titles that I'm just like girls never the same person twice.
- 16:47Speaker 4: She's so good. She's so good, and she definitely plays
- 16:51Speaker 4: that part so perfectly of like I feel like when
- 16:53Speaker 4: you see her, you can picture your like favorite high
- 16:56Speaker 4: maintenance auntie. Yeah, definitely has like it's definitely a cougar.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Definitely like spending a bunch of honey.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Stop paying for my weddings after my third literally.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Was so funny.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I blame I blame character actors like Christine Baranski for
- 17:14Speaker 1: why I'm so unhinged, because I'm like, I cannot wait
- 17:18Speaker 1: until I am my sister's children's aunt who just goes
- 17:22Speaker 1: to Europe and then comes for home for Christmas and
- 17:25Speaker 1: just showers them with little trinkets that are connected to
- 17:29Speaker 1: like all of my lovers, and I kind of tell them,
- 17:31Speaker 1: but I don't, and then they have to like go
- 17:33Speaker 1: to bed that night and be like so like aunt
- 17:36Speaker 1: any fucks right, like she fucks her way through continents,
- 17:40Speaker 1: and like they have to like lay in there and wonder.
- 17:44Speaker 4: And they'll like search for your journal that will give
- 17:46Speaker 4: them all the answers one day.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Bold and you know why write You know that, I
- 17:51Speaker 1: write everything down?
- 17:52Speaker 3: You know that.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my gosh, I like, yes, And how
- 17:56Speaker 1: bold is it to find your mother's diary and be
- 17:59Speaker 1: like I will right to these three strangers and pretend
- 18:02Speaker 1: that this is a paternity test.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Yeah. That was Another thing I want to talk about
- 18:06Speaker 4: was the audacity of the movie, Like if I did that,
- 18:11Speaker 4: my mom would whoop me.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Is it because she's twenty? Is that why?
- 18:15Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 18:16Speaker 2: Very because this twenty year old is like I'm getting married,
- 18:18Speaker 2: which is what, like, thank you, Donna for being very
- 18:21Speaker 2: concerned about your daughter wanted to get married at twenty.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I would be worried too, I'm still married at twenty.
- 18:28Speaker 4: I was like, it's okay. I can definitely respect as
- 18:33Speaker 4: like an older like upper twenty now to be like whoa, yeah,
- 18:38Speaker 4: I got that worked out, because what are the odds
- 18:41Speaker 4: of it working out? I mean, I'm it worked out perfectly? Yeah,
- 18:45Speaker 4: that is probably like a one in one thousand chance
- 18:49Speaker 4: getting your it like working out.
- 18:52Speaker 1: You broke the ratio.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Yeah you're the outlier.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah you know one yeah. One time Midwestern
- 19:02Speaker 1: health class traumatized me about sti's and I. It was
- 19:07Speaker 1: like seventh grade, and I remember being in the car
- 19:10Speaker 1: with my mother and like, you know how they always
- 19:14Speaker 1: talk to you about STIs like through the transient property,
- 19:17Speaker 1: like if your mother ever screwed a guy that had
- 19:21Speaker 1: like an STI, you could have that STI and you
- 19:24Speaker 1: just don't know.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Is that just a Midwestern thing or is it just
- 19:27Speaker 2: like it was elder millennial. Maybe it's an elder millennial thing,
- 19:32Speaker 2: because I also remember that too, like the whole because
- 19:34Speaker 2: on top of that, it was like everyone you've ever.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Had sex with, right, You've had sex with every disease.
- 19:41Speaker 3: And I remember too, like when I was pregnant with
- 19:43Speaker 3: my son.
- 19:44Speaker 2: They would be like, well, we're gonna we're gonna test
- 19:47Speaker 2: you for all these diseases because if you have so
- 19:50Speaker 2: gross I'll say it this way, if even natural birth,
- 19:54Speaker 2: there could be things that passed through and you're just
- 19:56Speaker 2: like what.
- 19:59Speaker 1: So they would like draw like a football thing where
- 20:01Speaker 1: they be like, Okay, you've only had sex with this person.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Unfortunately they've had sex with all of these people, So
- 20:09Speaker 1: you two have had sex with all of these people.
- 20:12Speaker 4: It was like yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, But I
- 20:15Speaker 4: didn't ever I understand the premise, but I don't think
- 20:18Speaker 4: anyone ever sat me down as a child and was like,
- 20:21Speaker 4: I remember when the boys got to go to the
- 20:22Speaker 4: locker room and the girls stay in the classroom. They're like,
- 20:25Speaker 4: this is what your period is.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Yeah, this, which isn't even an accurate covers.
- 20:30Speaker 4: I got my period by then. I was like lame. Yeah,
- 20:34Speaker 4: so cool.
- 20:35Speaker 1: So my mom picks me up from middle school and
- 20:38Speaker 1: I'm just like sitting quietly because I'm virginal. I'm traumatized,
- 20:42Speaker 1: like I probably have like undiagnosed ADHD or something, so
- 20:46Speaker 1: I don't know not to ask my mom this. And
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'm like, Mom, did you have sex with someone who
- 20:53Speaker 1: wasn't dad? Because like if you did, I could have
- 20:56Speaker 1: her bees And she almost like crashed the car. Oh,
- 21:00Speaker 1: so like to rifle through my mother's diary and be like, hey,
- 21:05Speaker 1: could any of these dudes be my dad? Right the range?
- 21:11Speaker 4: Another thing is like why is it that hard to
- 21:15Speaker 4: figure out who the father is? And they never really
- 21:18Speaker 4: say who the dad is. But here's the thing is
- 21:20Speaker 4: when they have like all the like flashbacks, it's like,
- 21:23Speaker 4: Oh we were in France. Oh we were so flower
- 21:25Speaker 4: power together. Oh we were rocking out it's like, this
- 21:28Speaker 4: seems like this couldn't have happened in a four week span,
- 21:32Speaker 4: but I perhaps it did.
- 21:33Speaker 1: And here we go again.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Okay, because it's it is really easy to hop around Europe,
- 21:40Speaker 2: like it's not like the States where it takes you know,
- 21:42Speaker 2: forty like getting like when I talk to people about
- 21:44Speaker 2: how long California is or like except my friend's back
- 21:48Speaker 2: used to be like, oh, I'm not making that drive.
- 21:50Speaker 3: It's four hours. I'm like, are you kidding me?
- 21:52Speaker 2: Like that's literally what we let's not even half my
- 21:54Speaker 2: state to get through.
- 21:57Speaker 3: But to your point page like at the end when
- 21:59Speaker 3: they're all like, oh, be.
- 22:00Speaker 2: A third of your dad, I'll be a third of
- 22:02Speaker 2: your dad, I was like, what the actual fuck?
- 22:08Speaker 1: I love it. I love it. Is the most unrealistic
- 22:12Speaker 1: part of this movie that not at one point were
- 22:14Speaker 1: any of those men's feelings hurt. Like Pierce Brosnan tried,
- 22:19Speaker 1: and then Colin Firth was like, what if we just
- 22:21Speaker 1: don't walk her down the island through life? And then
- 22:25Speaker 1: Pierce Brosnan and then like you know, the the Scar's
- 22:29Speaker 1: guard was just down for anything, so he's like, that's
- 22:32Speaker 1: with me, and then Piers anyway, right.
- 22:38Speaker 4: Right, That's why I think that that's her dad. I
- 22:40Speaker 4: think built her dad. That's another thing I think we
- 22:42Speaker 4: should all guess. Well. Mario said that the prequel explains
- 22:45Speaker 4: who the dad is, but I think it's Phil because
- 22:48Speaker 4: she worked for him. The aunt left her money and
- 22:51Speaker 4: she named it after her. But I think she wanted
- 22:54Speaker 4: it to be Sam. So that's why she was like,
- 22:55Speaker 4: oh it was Sam, and he went home and he
- 22:58Speaker 4: got married blah blah blah, which like all so questionable.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, when he said he has three grown kids,
- 23:04Speaker 2: it's like, how could you have grown kids if you
- 23:06Speaker 2: got married after you knocked up?
- 23:08Speaker 3: Potentially? Are our gal Donna?
- 23:12Speaker 4: Right?
- 23:12Speaker 1: Can we talk about the audacity of men, by the way, Like,
- 23:15Speaker 1: for one thing, they all three of them come in
- 23:17Speaker 1: on a boat, the same boat, and then they're just
- 23:20Speaker 1: like hanging out in her attic and Donna falls in
- 23:24Speaker 1: through the roof. Not one of them.
- 23:25Speaker 3: Asks if she's okay.
- 23:27Speaker 1: They just immediately like try to feel her.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Up some more, and she like left her legs up
- 23:32Speaker 3: for that length of time. You're like, girl, and then
- 23:35Speaker 3: like put them down.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Honestly, like I have been tricked by excess like that
- 23:40Speaker 1: where you immediately want to giggle at them again. But
- 23:42Speaker 1: then I'm like, never mind, Bill, I'm gonna like kick
- 23:44Speaker 1: you in the balls. And but at no point do
- 23:49Speaker 1: they ever, like, at any point like question the emotional
- 23:53Speaker 1: ramifications they might be having on Donna. They're just like,
- 23:57Speaker 1: why doesn't Donna want to see us? We don't under stand.
- 24:00Speaker 1: We thought should we were her surprise? Blah blah blah
- 24:02Speaker 1: blah blah. I was like, think real hard about why
- 24:05Speaker 1: she might not want to see you.
- 24:06Speaker 3: It's so right.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I need you all to take a beat. I need
- 24:11Speaker 1: you all to take a beat as to why it
- 24:14Speaker 1: might be hard for Donna to look at you. I
- 24:16Speaker 1: need us all to recall Mama Mia, here we go
- 24:19Speaker 1: again and figure it out.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Gentlemen, Wait, So, because there's a lot, because you know,
- 24:27Speaker 2: it's on an island. So there's this scene where they're
- 24:29Speaker 2: catching the boat to get to the island, Like, how
- 24:32Speaker 2: does that play out on the stage?
- 24:35Speaker 1: How does that play out on stage? They literally just arrive, Oh,
- 24:39Speaker 1: they just arrived. I'm sure there's like a doc. And
- 24:42Speaker 1: then Bill's like I'll take yeah, and then like Broadway magic,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and then they arrived.
- 24:48Speaker 4: And they moved the waves across the stage where they're
- 24:50Speaker 4: like crouched underneath it.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Okay, I don't know why I'm so dumb
- 24:55Speaker 2: about how this could be a stage production.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Maybe because I love all I know.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It was the seasonnection first, and when you think about it,
- 25:04Speaker 2: nineteen ninety nine, so it's nineteen seventy.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Nine, right, Yeah, and that was definitely Also it didn't exist.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Also, those three men were all intelligent and accomplished men,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and they couldn't put it together. Why a twenty year
- 25:22Speaker 1: old would want to call you after twenty years had
- 25:26Speaker 1: gone by that you hooked up with her mom?
- 25:29Speaker 4: Well? And also can we talk about the fact that
- 25:31Speaker 4: if I got an invite from someone like an ex
- 25:34Speaker 4: or something, I'd be like, oh, okay whatever, and then
- 25:36Speaker 4: you figure out that he also invited two other women,
- 25:39Speaker 4: like yeah, yeah, oh, I would be completely different from
- 25:43Speaker 4: men to women. I wouldn't even go I'm going to
- 25:46Speaker 4: become their best friends and spite you.
- 25:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, if I got an invitation.
- 25:50Speaker 1: From an ex to go to their wedding, to their
- 25:53Speaker 1: child's wedding.
- 25:54Speaker 2: To their child's wedding, to their child's wedding, I'd be like, nah,
- 25:59Speaker 2: I'm good.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Oh I dare maybe I'll send a gift where you registered.
- 26:04Speaker 4: A gift. I don't know.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I'm going I'm going for my free like cold Chicken,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and I'm going to dance, and I'm going to pay
- 26:13Speaker 1: the DJ to play sexy Back when I walk in.
- 26:16Speaker 2: So it's fine if they have it at my sister's wedding.
- 26:20Speaker 2: The DJ, we made all these requests. Of course, this
- 26:23Speaker 2: is Minnesota, so you know. I guess asking for them
- 26:26Speaker 2: to play in Vogue was a ridiculous question because that
- 26:31Speaker 2: DJ did not have in Vogue in their catalog.
- 26:34Speaker 3: And how do you not have InVogue in your catalog?
- 26:37Speaker 1: I don't know, mind bitches, I don't think I have
- 26:41Speaker 1: to worry about that. For sexy Back, that is the swan,
- 26:44Speaker 1: one of the white people, and it's the only time
- 26:46Speaker 1: you get to feel sexy yeah by the Killers.
- 26:50Speaker 4: I feel like it's also white person song.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 26:57Speaker 4: The Killers. Honestly tell us.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Your favorite white girl song in the comments, Mine is
- 27:02Speaker 1: shut Up and Dance with Me, And I would build
- 27:05Speaker 1: an entire rom com around that song.
- 27:07Speaker 3: You should how should see?
- 27:10Speaker 2: So I get confused about what would be considered like
- 27:14Speaker 2: a white person song, because.
- 27:16Speaker 1: I'll say more white and basic then shut up and
- 27:19Speaker 1: dance with me and walk the moon in general.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, I get that, but sometimes because of
- 27:24Speaker 2: like because I have both cultural experiences, so sometimes they
- 27:30Speaker 2: don't know, like I don't know, well what we will
- 27:35Speaker 2: give me more example, sure, I will put on the record.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Wait in the comments.
- 27:39Speaker 1: All of my black coworkers were confused when I knew
- 27:43Speaker 1: all the words to Girls in the Hood by Megan
- 27:46Speaker 1: thee Stallion. Oh yes, when I came rolling up into
- 27:52Speaker 1: our job being like fuck being good, I'm a bad bitch,
- 27:55Speaker 1: and they're like, what is hello, good morning, Naan, We're
- 28:01Speaker 1: nine fifteen.
- 28:02Speaker 3: We're asking for white basics.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Well, so I thought I would give you the difference.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I feel I understand what would be like
- 28:10Speaker 2: on the side of like my other people like that,
- 28:13Speaker 2: I don't have a problem with.
- 28:15Speaker 4: I feel like if you can do like a palm
- 28:16Speaker 4: or high school dance team to it, it is considered
- 28:19Speaker 4: to be a white person song.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Yeah, so like jump around like White People.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Love, which is very white girl.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Show who seems white people love? Shout Michael Buble anything
- 28:35Speaker 1: Michael Buble, the White People Drip?
- 28:38Speaker 2: Oh okay, okay, cool, I don't listen to him, So
- 28:41Speaker 2: that's good to know. Shout is definitely yeah.
- 28:45Speaker 1: White people basically like anything that allows white people to.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Dance, like that song, that song that, what's the song
- 28:55Speaker 2: that the you know she's getting on the bus.
- 28:57Speaker 3: What is it called? Thank you Johnny Journey? Don't stop believing? Yeah,
- 29:05Speaker 3: I believe.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I feel like I can't go to carry out okay
- 29:08Speaker 2: night without somebody thinking they can sing that song.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Eighteen white people just got horny just because I sang
- 29:14Speaker 1: it onto the internet. Eighteen white people are like, oh
- 29:19Speaker 1: is that Journey?
- 29:21Speaker 4: And one white adjacent person, one white.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Adjacent person like they had to, they had to get
- 29:30Speaker 1: on it.
- 29:33Speaker 3: So, you know, sorry, ahead.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Can we talk about how chill Sophie is about her
- 29:37Speaker 1: mother's sexuality. She's just like her friends come and she's like,
- 29:41Speaker 1: what up? I found a detailed book of all of
- 29:44Speaker 1: my mother's sexual and whole Toby Collette, Oh.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Yeah, oh, I gotta think of how that goes.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I don't start to my toes and.
- 29:57Speaker 3: God, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, I know that song.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Why it I made a living out of doing musical impressions.
- 30:03Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I don't know, Ken John. I need Ken John to
- 30:07Speaker 1: invite me onto one of his.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Game shows, Anyone will do if.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Someone could get a hold of doctor Ken for me.
- 30:16Speaker 1: But so she's reading aloud her mother's like sexual exploits
- 30:21Speaker 1: and her friends are like here for it. And then
- 30:23Speaker 1: like it's such a stark contrast to we just watched
- 30:27Speaker 1: Now and Then and Sam was like, my mom is
- 30:30Speaker 1: wearing go Go boots.
- 30:31Speaker 4: Ya.
- 30:33Speaker 3: You know what? Though?
- 30:34Speaker 2: I think with she does kind of towards the end
- 30:37Speaker 2: get to the point where she because she does yell
- 30:39Speaker 2: that line at her mom right where like I.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Want my kids to know who their dad is.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Rude.
- 30:50Speaker 2: She does open very chill, she does well, and like
- 30:54Speaker 2: she's really pissed off that Meryl Streep doesn't want her
- 30:56Speaker 2: to get married.
- 30:57Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't think you want to get married.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I think that was all a plot to make your
- 31:02Speaker 1: mom tell you who your dad is.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you can spe your marriage or do you want
- 31:06Speaker 4: a wedding?
- 31:07Speaker 1: Do you want a marriage or do you want your daddy?
- 31:10Speaker 4: Yeah? Obvious father.
- 31:14Speaker 1: If you had to choose one of them, who would
- 31:17Speaker 1: you want to be your dad?
- 31:19Speaker 4: My dad or my daddy?
- 31:22Speaker 1: We could play it both, Okay, Well, Bill Scarsgard not
- 31:29Speaker 1: in thor but in Mama Mia, he looks like he's
- 31:32Speaker 1: the one who can fuck the most. So he would
- 31:34Speaker 1: be daddy and call him a sweet baby angel. Colin Firth,
- 31:41Speaker 1: who has never done anything wrong ever, he can be
- 31:44Speaker 1: my dad.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Yeah, because don't they imply that he's gay.
- 31:48Speaker 1: He is gay, And then I'm like.
- 31:50Speaker 4: It's so obvious he's gay too. I remember watching it
- 31:53Speaker 4: last night and I was like, all right, he's gay,
- 31:56Speaker 4: and then.
- 31:56Speaker 1: The aphrodity fountain scene happens, and I watched Colin Firth
- 32:01Speaker 1: in every group scene because like, I had never honed
- 32:05Speaker 1: in on him before, but he's my favorite part of
- 32:07Speaker 1: the movie. And in the like very sliver of the
- 32:11Speaker 1: left hand side is a shirtless Colin Firth, just like
- 32:14Speaker 1: literally fire islanding it in the mountain, and I'm like,
- 32:19Speaker 1: get it, Colin Firth, thank you for committing to that.
- 32:22Speaker 1: They didn't even put you in frame.
- 32:26Speaker 3: You have the time of his life. Well, that was
- 32:29Speaker 3: the whole point is to have.
- 32:30Speaker 4: I feel like I would want Colin to be my
- 32:32Speaker 4: dad as well, because I like to spend quality time
- 32:34Speaker 4: with my dad and I feel like I could spend
- 32:36Speaker 4: good quality time with a dad who.
- 32:40Speaker 2: And he's the most sincere about like the idea of
- 32:45Speaker 2: being a dad and like being doing all.
- 32:48Speaker 3: The dad things.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yes, but if I'm going to marry somebody, it's Pears
- 32:54Speaker 2: prosman me too.
- 32:55Speaker 4: I agree. That's what I was that I want my
- 32:57Speaker 4: daddy to.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Me even now, like you've seen him recently, Right, Okayla.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Why do we make but for why did we make
- 33:09Speaker 1: Pierce Brosnan sane? Here's something that I never understand.
- 33:13Speaker 4: I do not think he's a good singer that's on
- 33:15Speaker 4: my list.
- 33:16Speaker 3: And that's probably susized too.
- 33:18Speaker 1: You know they edited that shit and it happened in
- 33:21Speaker 1: Lame Is too, Like they hire these Oscar Emmy winning
- 33:27Speaker 1: actresses to be like Amanda Seafree, blow your vocal chords
- 33:31Speaker 1: out every day on the set of lame Is, we
- 33:34Speaker 1: want you to sing it live. And then there's like
- 33:37Speaker 1: Sam and then they're like, Pierce Brosnan try it. He's like,
- 33:41Speaker 1: what happened?
- 33:46Speaker 3: It used to be so good?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Like I was like, did they hire me to be Sam?
- 33:51Speaker 4: It almost reminds me of that step Brother scene when
- 33:53Speaker 4: they're in the car and he's like, have been the
- 33:55Speaker 4: wives ass for like not being good at vocal lessons?
- 33:58Speaker 4: I was like oh, Pierce Brosten, you are flat. You're
- 34:01Speaker 4: not giving what I needed to give. And then it.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Gets worse in the sequel, to the point where I
- 34:07Speaker 1: had erased in my memory that they make him sing
- 34:10Speaker 1: like three times in the first one.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Pierce presidents in the sequel.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Huh huh, because they do flash forward like they're in
- 34:18Speaker 1: the present and then they do flashbacks.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Got it, got it, I'm gonna have to watch. Yeah,
- 34:23Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to watch that tonight now because I'm curious, interesting.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And so like yeah, like I was like, so when
- 34:31Speaker 1: you need me, call me.
- 34:34Speaker 4: So els what like, you know, Also the like little
- 34:39Speaker 4: dialogues that they have to add into the song when
- 34:42Speaker 4: they're on that boat, right all the dads and she's like,
- 34:46Speaker 4: and you're working at a bank and your name is Harry.
- 34:49Speaker 4: That is the worst life. Yeah, looking at working at
- 34:54Speaker 4: a bank, and I.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Do I do love the montage where she does get
- 34:59Speaker 1: to do ver daughterly things with all three of her dads.
- 35:03Speaker 1: But also, what was the movie where some idiot like
- 35:07Speaker 1: construed that as his daughter wanting to Oh it was
- 35:10Speaker 1: on critical role.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Never mind, I thought you're gonna talk about shameless.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm shameless. Where it's like your daughter's just
- 35:18Speaker 1: like trying to fuck you and she's like, no, I'm
- 35:20Speaker 1: just trying to spend quality time with you, Like uh no, Yeah,
- 35:25Speaker 1: she has like little dates with all of her dads.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I don't know. I love someone mentioned take a chance
- 35:31Speaker 1: on me, and I can't listen to the true like
- 35:34Speaker 1: abba version of take a chance on me. I have
- 35:37Speaker 1: to do the very insecure if you're all well, words
- 35:45Speaker 1: have honey, I'm still free, and I have to like
- 35:49Speaker 1: I have to start it that way. It's and Rosie
- 35:54Speaker 1: does such like a commitment to like trying to get
- 35:57Speaker 1: Bill Scarsgard to love her her like three hours. She's like,
- 36:02Speaker 1: remember we were on the boat. He's like, She's like
- 36:06Speaker 1: everyone else is shacking up. I don't know why you wouldn't.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I don't know why you would it.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we all need our we all need a happy endings,
- 36:15Speaker 2: how you wish.
- 36:16Speaker 4: And Colin Firth got his happy ending too. I remember
- 36:19Speaker 4: in the middle of when they're on the boat and
- 36:21Speaker 4: the Bill thinks he's like, oh, so you can you
- 36:24Speaker 4: know you know? And he's like no, but I think
- 36:26Speaker 4: I'm her dad, And it's like this miscommunication thing that
- 36:29Speaker 4: was a moment where they're, oh, yeah, I forgot he's
- 36:31Speaker 4: gay in this movie. He only forgot about the boat
- 36:34Speaker 4: miscommunication scene.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah, And then like gosh, I just love
- 36:40Speaker 1: the abandon and you you really have to watch mom
- 36:44Speaker 1: and Mia here we go again, because at the end,
- 36:47Speaker 1: Colin Firth gets to dance with like the kid that
- 36:50Speaker 1: played younger version of him. Oh, and like that kid
- 36:53Speaker 1: gives it as hard as Colin Firth gives it to
- 36:56Speaker 1: that last montage moment and the glittery jumpsuit, and there's
- 37:01Speaker 1: something Colin Firth is, like this little bubble of joy
- 37:07Speaker 1: where he's like, I'm going to give this the exact
- 37:10Speaker 1: dramatic dedication that Natalie gives to a board game night.
- 37:15Speaker 1: And he's just magical, and he's just like fire islanding
- 37:19Speaker 1: it just off a shot. You can't even really tell
- 37:23Speaker 1: if it's him, but I was like, I know that
- 37:24Speaker 1: torso that's Colin Firth. He's having a fucking ball in
- 37:28Speaker 1: that fountain, like a That's how I would show up
- 37:34Speaker 1: to every set. I'd be like, what are we doing today?
- 37:37Speaker 1: Where do you want the water?
- 37:38Speaker 2: Like, just just give it all, just thrash the water.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, he's a sweep an eel.
- 37:45Speaker 1: He's never done anything wrong. He has never done anything wrong.
- 37:50Speaker 4: I also think it's interesting that all of them were
- 37:52Speaker 4: like totally down to walk her down the aisle, and
- 37:54Speaker 4: she was like, yeah, sounds great.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Donna who, Donna who?
- 38:00Speaker 3: I was like yeah.
- 38:01Speaker 1: That is when I got angry. I was like, your
- 38:03Speaker 1: mother has raised you single handedly in a crumbling Grecian hotel.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Yes, she's a hotelier, and you.
- 38:13Speaker 1: Invited these three morons to and you're like, you're the
- 38:19Speaker 1: most important people to me.
- 38:21Speaker 3: See.
- 38:22Speaker 2: And that's the other part that was really frustrating, because
- 38:26Speaker 2: first of all, why are we still buying into this
- 38:28Speaker 2: construct that Dad has to give away?
- 38:31Speaker 4: True? I had a girlfriend walk herself down the aisle
- 38:34Speaker 4: and then her husband met her halfway, and then they
- 38:37Speaker 4: walked the way at the beginning of the ceremony. Yeah,
- 38:40Speaker 4: super cute. Oh but yeah, no, you're.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Not frozing yet. You will throw freeze in a moment,
- 38:47Speaker 1: and then you'll grow.
- 38:48Speaker 3: There we go, There we go.
- 38:50Speaker 4: How did you know dad was going to happen?
- 38:51Speaker 1: It happens every time every time.
- 38:53Speaker 4: Okay, at least she's consistent.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Comcast, man, I'm telling you so.
- 38:59Speaker 1: We're are we talking about Oh.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Don came out the audacity.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because like you don't know these people, you
- 39:08Speaker 3: don't know you down the.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Aisle and give you away to another mediocre man.
- 39:14Speaker 4: And also she didn't even tell her husband she they
- 39:16Speaker 4: invited them. Yeah, I don't know if that's the case.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Me do everything. Yeah, the second someone tells me gossip,
- 39:23Speaker 4: I'm like, I will not tell anyone. But it doesn't
- 39:25Speaker 4: count because my husband is the other half of my brain,
- 39:27Speaker 4: so he will find out as well.
- 39:29Speaker 3: That is literally a universal understood that if you tell
- 39:32Speaker 3: your friend who's married, assume the spouse knows.
- 39:36Speaker 4: Yeah. It's helped me to say a lot of things
- 39:39Speaker 4: to certain people where I'm like, oh, I don't really
- 39:40Speaker 4: want your partner to know, so I'm just not going
- 39:42Speaker 4: to tell you at all.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Yeah, my brother in law, because I talked to my
- 39:46Speaker 1: sister before my brother in law gets home from work,
- 39:49Speaker 1: and then Zach will like touch the front door and
- 39:53Speaker 1: my sister will be like, guess what's wrong with Dandley's body,
- 39:56Speaker 1: Like guess what she found on it today? And I'm like,
- 39:59Speaker 1: you don't need to tell him, and she's like it's
- 40:00Speaker 1: really gross, and I'm gonna tell you. And I'm like, like,
- 40:03Speaker 1: my brother in law has like intimate knowledge of my body.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Oh heck, now I couldn't hang like.
- 40:11Speaker 3: That's I'm very like you, like you, Paige.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I'm very mindful about what I tell my married friends
- 40:15Speaker 2: because I'm like, well, the partner's gonna know.
- 40:17Speaker 3: I don't listen. I will tell your partner if I
- 40:20Speaker 3: want them to know.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Okay, my brother in law is very supportive of me
- 40:24Speaker 2: and my passions.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Oh it's nice, but oh shit, where were was?
- 40:30Speaker 4: Oh?
- 40:30Speaker 1: I remember the exact moment I decided that my father
- 40:33Speaker 1: would not be walking me down.
- 40:35Speaker 4: Before the exact.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Moment, I was at someone else's wedding.
- 40:39Speaker 3: This is before you realize that you don't want to get.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Married, right, This is when I thought I still had
- 40:43Speaker 1: a shot. I was like in my mid twenties, like
- 40:46Speaker 1: a cool twenty five.
- 40:47Speaker 3: Yeah, we're still brainwashed to think that we get married
- 40:49Speaker 3: at twenty five.
- 40:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:50Speaker 1: And I was in New Jersey and I was at
- 40:53Speaker 1: someone else's wedding and I was watching her and her
- 40:55Speaker 1: dad like cry walk down the aisle, and I just
- 40:58Speaker 1: remember turning to my friend and like whispering to him.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Is it rude if I've just now discovered that I
- 41:09Speaker 1: don't want my dad, don't walk me down the aisle.
- 41:14Speaker 1: And he goes, no, that tracks for you. He goes,
- 41:16Speaker 1: what are you gonna announce at the like very beginning,
- 41:18Speaker 1: like I'm doing this because I want to, And then
- 41:21Speaker 1: just like march like like probably a way. I mean
- 41:25Speaker 1: like I'm not giving any part of myself away. I'm
- 41:28Speaker 1: not gonna bend, and I'm gonna do everything the way
- 41:31Speaker 1: I want to do it. I'm like, yeah, those are
- 41:33Speaker 1: my vows I don't know.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and those aren't really vowels though, yeah, just warnings,
- 41:40Speaker 2: just warnings, that's warnings.
- 41:42Speaker 4: That's okay, though, that's okay.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Yeah, But now I don't want to get married because
- 41:46Speaker 1: it's terrifying and expensive to get out of.
- 41:50Speaker 3: It's so expensive to get out of. That's the part
- 41:52Speaker 3: that blows my mind.
- 41:54Speaker 1: And I have a I have a whole podcast of
- 41:57Speaker 1: the mistakes that I've made when it comes to men.
- 41:59Speaker 2: So I can't put it, can't afford the risk, Like
- 42:03Speaker 2: that's the part that I'm just like, I would rather
- 42:05Speaker 2: pay because the marriage certificate isn't what's expensive. No, it's
- 42:10Speaker 2: the wedding it's the it's the party after right, So
- 42:13Speaker 2: some people pay like gobs of money for that gods,
- 42:18Speaker 2: but the actual divorce itself, No, and.
- 42:24Speaker 4: Then I don't want to do it year that you
- 42:26Speaker 4: were still married but you're divorced, and you got to
- 42:28Speaker 4: figure out like how to do your taxes.
- 42:30Speaker 3: Yes, like all of it.
- 42:31Speaker 2: It's just dumb, Like I can barely figure out how
- 42:33Speaker 2: to do my taxes now, So there's that. But like
- 42:37Speaker 2: also like and then if you changed your name, yeah,
- 42:40Speaker 2: fuck that, Yeah, and you have to go through all that,
- 42:42Speaker 2: like it's such a misogynistic system on how and then
- 42:45Speaker 2: there's like an order you have to do it. And
- 42:47Speaker 2: I've never changed my name. I'm making assumptions based on
- 42:49Speaker 2: my friends who've gotten married who've changed their names.
- 42:52Speaker 3: So you can't go you.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Can't do it here first, you have to do it
- 42:55Speaker 2: at this spot first, and you know, you're just.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Like why why do it? Why do we need to.
- 43:02Speaker 1: First?
- 43:03Speaker 4: Or like a new social Security card first and then
- 43:06Speaker 4: everything else, which whose social Security office is ever open?
- 43:11Speaker 3: Ever?
- 43:12Speaker 1: I can't tell you where mine is.
- 43:14Speaker 3: Oh I know where mine is because I used to
- 43:16Speaker 3: work for the government, but they're never.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Own The security card is I know where my card is.
- 43:21Speaker 2: I don't know where the office is.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Oh, I thought you meant you didn't know where.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I have like this doom folder and I can't remember
- 43:30Speaker 1: why but my passport, my birth certificate? Am I social Security?
- 43:37Speaker 1: Why did I have to.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Go to everybody on the internet?
- 43:41Speaker 4: Right?
- 43:42Speaker 1: They don't know what the doom folder looks like.
- 43:44Speaker 2: But it's all in one folder, okay, And.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Every once in a while, I'm like, where the fuck
- 43:50Speaker 3: it's that fold folder.
- 43:52Speaker 1: People get safe for these and I'm.
- 43:55Speaker 5: Like what, Yeah, Or they put it like a plastic
- 43:59Speaker 5: bag and put it in the fridge or freezer because
- 44:02Speaker 5: if there's a tornado or a fire, your fridge will
- 44:05Speaker 5: never burn or like it'll stay.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Yeah. Friends, most of the friends that are from the South,
- 44:12Speaker 4: so they have a ton of tornadoes, lots of fires, hurricanes.
- 44:17Speaker 4: It's like sealed in there. It will never burn in
- 44:19Speaker 4: a fire.
- 44:20Speaker 3: And that makes sense that your fridge would be like
- 44:22Speaker 3: sort of fire proof. Fish.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Can I fit into my I'm gonna see if I
- 44:26Speaker 1: can fish.
- 44:28Speaker 3: No, you'll suffocate. There's not an affair. You'll suffocate.
- 44:33Speaker 1: We have tornadoes here. Wait, what we have tornadoes here?
- 44:37Speaker 2: I live in the Midwest, Oh, yeah, you're there's a
- 44:40Speaker 2: tornado season.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Yeah. I can't no lost me at season.
- 44:47Speaker 1: It's season.
- 44:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:49Speaker 2: My cousins in the Midwest are like, I could never
- 44:51Speaker 2: live in the California all those earthquakes. Girl, I can't
- 44:54Speaker 2: tell you the last time I experienced a major earth
- 44:56Speaker 2: in nineteen eighty nine. We've had this conversation already. I
- 45:00Speaker 2: don't even need a season, like, you're guaranteed a tornado
- 45:03Speaker 2: is going to happen at some point during the spring.
- 45:07Speaker 1: I mean, just me and my doom folder chilling out.
- 45:11Speaker 1: I wish I could remember why all my documents had
- 45:13Speaker 1: to be in the exact same place.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Well, they say to do that so that way, grab
- 45:18Speaker 3: and go.
- 45:19Speaker 2: If I don't think I was specifically doing something, I
- 45:25Speaker 2: wonder if it was like my unemployment. Mario says that
- 45:29Speaker 2: Indiana Jones survived a bomb by hiding in a friend
- 45:31Speaker 2: and how did.
- 45:32Speaker 3: He not run a.
- 45:36Speaker 4: Whole and then like a snorkel.
- 45:40Speaker 2: I'm very terrified of losing air.
- 45:46Speaker 4: Suffocating would be the worst way to do.
- 45:48Speaker 1: It's so violent.
- 45:50Speaker 3: It's so violent.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Breath just to make sure I could my Lord, right,
- 45:57Speaker 4: I remember as a child if a tornado was I
- 46:00Speaker 4: mean I'd like put all my stuffed animals in the
- 46:01Speaker 4: closet and be like, oh right, guys, mom's making me
- 46:05Speaker 4: go down to the basement. I gotta go see you later.
- 46:09Speaker 4: But nothing ever hit our house. There was a house
- 46:12Speaker 4: a town, like a couple of towns away that got
- 46:14Speaker 4: like really messed up. But yeah, no, just like North
- 46:19Speaker 4: Tornado Alley, I could.
- 46:21Speaker 3: I would be unhinged if I lived somewhere like if.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Where the elements are trying to get you, in a
- 46:27Speaker 2: state that's were worse for forest fire.
- 46:29Speaker 3: So yeah, this is true. State is on fire in a.
- 46:34Speaker 2: Way an issue, but they will eventually make it if
- 46:37Speaker 2: the climate keeps going in the way that it's going,
- 46:39Speaker 2: and they will eventually make it.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Everyone's in denial about it. It's going. People are like, oh,
- 46:44Speaker 1: California's not in denial.
- 46:46Speaker 2: We're trying to enact all kinds of legislation that everyone
- 46:48Speaker 2: thinks is bullshit all that, and people hate it.
- 46:52Speaker 3: We want full electric cars.
- 46:54Speaker 4: Though.
- 46:54Speaker 2: I did hear a report on NPR because you know,
- 46:56Speaker 2: I'm an umpire junkie the other day about how like
- 46:59Speaker 2: the like the thing whatever they need to make the
- 47:03Speaker 2: electric cars, like they're mining the bottom of the sea
- 47:06Speaker 2: for it. So then of course my sister in law,
- 47:09Speaker 2: former sister in law is a marine bibiologist, so immediately
- 47:14Speaker 2: it's like I have to text her to find out,
- 47:15Speaker 2: like how bad is that for those reasons.
- 47:19Speaker 4: On steroids.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds like we don't want to go completely
- 47:25Speaker 2: electric by.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Twenty to start driving. Maybe we So I honestly think
- 47:31Speaker 1: that we should like here it is everybody. I think
- 47:34Speaker 1: that we should create more factions within America and walk
- 47:40Speaker 1: uble in the neighborhoods and completely European and then like
- 47:43Speaker 1: actually build that train that will take me to Julia
- 47:46Speaker 1: tomorrow if I want to go see Julia. Yes, I
- 47:50Speaker 1: want the bullet public transportation and we just do thertation
- 47:55Speaker 1: thing and then like we just like shame the men
- 47:58Speaker 1: who want to master be on the public transportation.
- 48:02Speaker 3: I love it.
- 48:04Speaker 4: That is the most integral part is shame.
- 48:07Speaker 3: And shaming them.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just booing. You know what if I if
- 48:13Speaker 1: I had to if I would get murdered. But if
- 48:16Speaker 1: I had to take public transportation and some dude was
- 48:21Speaker 1: masturbating on the train, I would just boo, like just
- 48:25Speaker 1: boo like those old man muppets and the theme.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Just like boom yo, just like.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Shame his penis and then ask him for compensation to
- 48:36Speaker 1: be like fifty dollars. What are you having your wallet?
- 48:40Speaker 4: There was an hourly wage. I don't know if you
- 48:42Speaker 4: were aware of you have an hourly wage. Yeah, you
- 48:45Speaker 4: do have a shame isn't free? Right?
- 48:47Speaker 1: Because if it's, if I can tell you're enjoying it,
- 48:50Speaker 1: I'm charging you double.
- 48:54Speaker 4: So just automatically one hundred. Just want to assume one
- 48:57Speaker 4: hundred right off the bat.
- 48:58Speaker 1: So, yeah, So that I fixed it. I fixed everything.
- 49:02Speaker 1: Everyone once again, Well I think that's that.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Then that's that.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Uh I So this theater production, like the movie gets
- 49:14Speaker 1: a lot of shit for just being a fluff piece,
- 49:17Speaker 1: Like it's just a fluff. That's not what I said.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I did not say that public shaming fixes everything I
- 49:24Speaker 1: said I did. It's it's in quotes, Okay, I would
- 49:29Speaker 1: like it on the record that that's not what I said.
- 49:31Speaker 1: It's my logic and myth.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Though you're gonna hate this.
- 49:38Speaker 1: So this the so the theatrical production, like the movie
- 49:42Speaker 1: just gets ship on all the time because I don't
- 49:46Speaker 1: know what it is about people who go to movies
- 49:49Speaker 1: and people who visit the theater. They don't want to
- 49:52Speaker 1: have fun. Quote, I'm very logical. I'm a Capricorn. Oh no,
- 49:56Speaker 1: I'm a I'm a capricorn. It's a capricorn. If you
- 50:01Speaker 1: stole my past report, you would know I was born
- 50:03Speaker 1: on Christmas.
- 50:04Speaker 4: I'm gonnay.
- 50:07Speaker 1: And you know what, You're gonna be disappointed.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Paying for her own student loans.
- 50:12Speaker 1: Thanks, go ahead, steal this identity. It's disappointed.
- 50:21Speaker 2: It's really not worth it to steal a millennial's identity more.
- 50:25Speaker 3: Student debt than anybody.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Also, why steal my identity when gen Z already stole
- 50:31Speaker 1: all of the people on Capitol Hills identity for us.
- 50:35Speaker 1: They did all that work and went out on TikTok
- 50:37Speaker 1: for us.
- 50:38Speaker 4: That's true, pretty impressive, impressive.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Here are their credit card numbers. Hear their home address.
- 50:46Speaker 4: Here's where they work.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:49Speaker 1: I was like, y'all violent, and they're like, we're violent.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Don't fuck with our rights, that's what I heard. I heard,
- 50:55Speaker 3: don't fuck with our rights.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Like when all the docsing happened, I was like, this
- 50:59Speaker 2: is you saying, don't don't fuck with my rights.
- 51:02Speaker 1: So I hate that, Like our general audiences that get
- 51:06Speaker 1: to make decisions don't actually like to have fun, Like
- 51:09Speaker 1: I go to Mamma Mia and I'm like, the ocean
- 51:11Speaker 1: is so blue. I want to wear Meryl Streeps overalls.
- 51:15Speaker 3: I do.
- 51:17Speaker 1: I have been looking for a pair of Donna esque
- 51:19Speaker 1: overalls my entire adulthood. Like they look comfy somehow, Meryl
- 51:25Speaker 1: Streep looks.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Sexy in them. She is sexy.
- 51:29Speaker 4: She is sexy, and her makeup looks timeless and it's.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Got a fresh like island.
- 51:35Speaker 1: Like yeah, I love little things, so I love like
- 51:41Speaker 1: pins and patches, Like God knows what I would do
- 51:44Speaker 1: with those overalls, but it would be amazing. And I too,
- 51:48Speaker 1: like Donna, can't just like go onto a balcony and
- 51:52Speaker 1: like have it just be like I'm on a balcony. No,
- 51:55Speaker 1: I literally have to be like Mama maa, here I go.
- 52:00Speaker 3: I get.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I have to be dramatic on a balcony. And I
- 52:04Speaker 1: would just like us to get over this pattern where
- 52:07Speaker 1: if it's something fun and it's something that the masses
- 52:11Speaker 1: can actually like get into and it's not just like
- 52:15Speaker 1: La mis watching me watch Anne Hathaway starve herself to
- 52:19Speaker 1: death for twenty minutes, then why doesn't it count as good?
- 52:25Speaker 2: Well, that's the age old question, right, like what constitutes
- 52:29Speaker 2: quality art over fluff?
- 52:31Speaker 3: Like that's been it.
- 52:31Speaker 1: That's why did we decide that some of it was fluff?
- 52:34Speaker 2: Because some people who are pretentious, there.
- 52:38Speaker 4: Has to be some type of scale. Everything has a
- 52:40Speaker 4: spectrum to it.
- 52:42Speaker 3: The elite, the elite.
- 52:45Speaker 4: They wanted a money, longer better I'll be able.
- 52:51Speaker 2: I was listening to something the other day and they're like,
- 52:55Speaker 2: cam because you know, gray Man was terrible. They spent
- 52:58Speaker 2: two hundred million dollars on this movie and it's awful.
- 53:01Speaker 2: And so that's why I think that Netflix is laundering money.
- 53:04Speaker 1: I forget I said that green Man. Isn't that the
- 53:08Speaker 1: Grayman gray Man? I thought you said green Man, which
- 53:12Speaker 1: I which is actually green Book. In my head, I
- 53:15Speaker 1: thought you were talking about how Vegan.
- 53:17Speaker 3: Don't get me, Don't get me started.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Someone dared to turn my Vigo Mortensen into a white savior,
- 53:22Speaker 1: and I will never let it go.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Well, we have issues with that movie for very different reasons,
- 53:28Speaker 2: but I'm glad that you have issues with that movie,
- 53:31Speaker 2: of course, because don't even get me fucking started.
- 53:33Speaker 3: We got that kind of time.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Vigo Mortensen is also a sweet baby angel who has
- 53:37Speaker 1: never done anything wrong. He took all of his Lord
- 53:41Speaker 1: of the Rings money, all of it, all of it,
- 53:44Speaker 1: and he moved himself. He became a forest tag is
- 53:49Speaker 1: what happened. He moved himself into a remote forest. And
- 53:53Speaker 1: he only came out of his forest cave to go
- 53:57Speaker 1: to poetry slams and read his poetry. That's cute, sweet
- 54:02Speaker 1: baby angel who's never done anything wrong. Yeah, and then
- 54:05Speaker 1: they turned him into a white savior.
- 54:08Speaker 4: I want to live some version of that life.
- 54:11Speaker 1: The same, same, same, Let's do it.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Let's do it honestly.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Sometimes these lives are just us, like planning our commune. Yeah,
- 54:24Speaker 1: everyone in the comments, if you would like to apply
- 54:27Speaker 1: for the commune, please list your says say that.
- 54:30Speaker 4: I always like, you know, she would be if we
- 54:32Speaker 4: all just got a bunch of lands and yeah, just
- 54:34Speaker 4: have all the men build us stuff, and then we
- 54:37Speaker 4: would wear dresses like in Midsummer and have a garden.
- 54:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so cute. I'd look in space funds.
- 54:46Speaker 4: Exactly like you're just supporting the point the most.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Midsummer slapped like, good for her. I too
- 54:57Speaker 1: would have done exactly what she did at the end.
- 55:00Speaker 4: I love Minsommer so much. I think I'm gonna rewatch it.
- 55:02Speaker 4: When I was going through Mama Mia, I put the
- 55:05Speaker 4: m in. The first thing that came up was Midsommer,
- 55:07Speaker 4: and I was like, oh, I would watch it so good.
- 55:11Speaker 4: And I'm so excited for Don't Worry Darling because they
- 55:14Speaker 4: know that there's some drama there too. I just love
- 55:17Speaker 4: her so much.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Florence pet we will be saying don't worry Darling and
- 55:21Speaker 1: we're doing a still comfy on it. I made it
- 55:24Speaker 1: fit the theme because I was like, I feel like we
- 55:27Speaker 1: were conditioned into believing that the homemaker fifty style was
- 55:31Speaker 1: a very comforting was they for women to try and emulate?
- 55:35Speaker 2: Right, Mario, I'm gonna watch it because, as we know,
- 55:39Speaker 2: I can not not with Harry Styles.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Harry Styles is the new Elton John. You didn't hear
- 55:47Speaker 1: it first because I say it every show.
- 55:51Speaker 2: So like, every time I see the trailer, I'm just like,
- 55:53Speaker 2: this is so stressful. But I'm totally gonna maybe take a.
- 55:56Speaker 4: Value and see You're not like a scary movie again.
- 55:59Speaker 3: No, she cannot too stressed out.
- 56:01Speaker 2: And then I watch you during the day then I
- 56:02Speaker 2: can't that I do that sometimes and then I can
- 56:05Speaker 2: somehow in my head I can twist it to make
- 56:09Speaker 2: it where this could actually happen in real life true,
- 56:13Speaker 2: and it's it's really irritating for people who are my
- 56:17Speaker 2: friends because then I'm like spiraling sometimes and it's.
- 56:21Speaker 4: A Handmaid's tale. I was like, this is too close.
- 56:23Speaker 6: To the hall.
- 56:24Speaker 1: They read it that way.
- 56:26Speaker 3: They read it, y'all the book the book.
- 56:29Speaker 4: I read it.
- 56:31Speaker 2: After reading the book, I was like, well, I can't.
- 56:33Speaker 2: And then when they said they were doing the show,
- 56:35Speaker 2: my literary friend's like.
- 56:36Speaker 3: Oh my god, they're doing the show. It's gonna be
- 56:38Speaker 3: is amazing.
- 56:38Speaker 2: It's like, I'm sorry, you all recovered after reading this
- 56:41Speaker 2: in lick class sophomore year.
- 56:44Speaker 3: I'm still recovering.
- 56:45Speaker 4: I didn't read anything cool like that in my high school.
- 56:48Speaker 4: Even if they would have assigned it, I still probably
- 56:50Speaker 4: would't have read it.
- 56:51Speaker 1: It's a real short one, Oh Verick. But oh, last
- 56:57Speaker 1: week I convinced myself that a vampire from critical role
- 57:02Speaker 1: could somehow still get me. I was afraid of Delilah.
- 57:05Speaker 1: I wasn't afraid of Delilah Briarwood in Campaign one when
- 57:09Speaker 1: she was a pivotal villain. But they're doing callbacks to
- 57:13Speaker 1: her in the new campaign hundreds of years after this
- 57:16Speaker 1: lady has died.
- 57:17Speaker 3: And I remember like.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Telling Jules, I was like, Jewels, I don't know what's happened,
- 57:21Speaker 1: but I've somehow scared myself out of about a character
- 57:27Speaker 1: that I've been hearing about for thousands of hours, and like,
- 57:30Speaker 1: I don't think I can sleep by the like Delilah
- 57:33Speaker 1: is coming for me.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Why I've never even seen I don't have to look
- 57:39Speaker 4: into it.
- 57:39Speaker 1: Oh, it's a D and D stream Like every episode
- 57:43Speaker 1: it's on YouTube. Every episode is four to five hours
- 57:46Speaker 1: long because why D session?
- 57:50Speaker 3: Yeah, because they're doing like are you dead serious?
- 57:53Speaker 1: Because it's watching D and D live. But here's the thing.
- 57:55Speaker 1: I was in a very toxic work environment. I was
- 57:58Speaker 1: in an office that was killing me, and I needed
- 58:01Speaker 1: to take my head out of that. So I started. Yeah,
- 58:05Speaker 1: so I started to watch these nerds playing D and
- 58:08Speaker 1: D and then they all became my teddy bears like I.
- 58:11Speaker 1: So at gen Con over the weekend, I ran into
- 58:16Speaker 1: I'm not going to remember all three of his names.
- 58:17Speaker 2: I know it was Jason Miller in a message, Jason
- 58:24Speaker 2: Charles Miller.
- 58:25Speaker 3: So he was a.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Guest on like maybe two episodes in campaign one, and
- 58:30Speaker 1: his little handler lady is trying to like get nerds
- 58:34Speaker 1: to like divert from their shopping to talk to him,
- 58:38Speaker 1: and like people are just ignoring him, ignoring her. So
- 58:40Speaker 1: finally I.
- 58:41Speaker 3: Went, Jason, I know who you are.
- 58:44Speaker 1: I've watched Critical Role and I sat down and talked
- 58:49Speaker 1: to him, and I told him, I was like, he goes,
- 58:51Speaker 1: so you started Critical Role from the beginning, I go.
- 58:54Speaker 3: I did.
- 58:55Speaker 1: My soul was dying. I go. And now I need
- 58:58Speaker 1: Matthew mercers of to sleep sometimes if it's been a
- 59:02Speaker 1: particularly high anxiety day. And Jason, if you're listening, don't
- 59:07Speaker 1: forget you told me that you were going to tell
- 59:09Speaker 1: Matt that next this week when you ran into it.
- 59:14Speaker 4: Because you're working.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you're working together this week. I would like Matt
- 59:19Speaker 1: to know that he is the barrier between me and sleep.
- 59:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he is.
- 59:26Speaker 4: The key to the lock.
- 59:27Speaker 3: He is.
- 59:28Speaker 1: And so I got to meet Jason, but I got
- 59:30Speaker 1: to stare at the back of the heads of two
- 59:33Speaker 1: of my favorite D and D streamers because I ended
- 59:35Speaker 1: up at the same bar as them, and I want
- 59:37Speaker 1: to approach the table because there were too many people,
- 59:40Speaker 1: So I just stood there like this, and then the
- 59:46Speaker 1: waitress caught me in I was like, never mind, you'll
- 59:49Speaker 1: just go behind.
- 59:51Speaker 3: Me, No need to stare. We're all good.
- 59:54Speaker 1: And then I talked about the fact that they were
- 59:56Speaker 1: in the same I was like, I gambling that they're
- 59:58Speaker 1: in the same bar. I knew a Bria here because
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I saw on Instagram and I told myself that I
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: was going to get to see her, but I didn't
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: think it would be because I was in the Weston.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: Oh my god, you had like a whole experience.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: I had a whole meltdown. And luckily the people that
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: my friend Namley allowed me to meet and hang out with,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: they were into it.
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: And I was like, thank you for still.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Being open to being my friend even though I'm having
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: a meltdown. No, I wasn't crying yet.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Yeah, to know.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: That you were just like several feet away away from greatness,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: I can't do it. If I admire you, I feel
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: like it's my job to tell you, because this world
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: is so cruel that I feel like no one tells
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: you because they think that you're like too cool to
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: know that people admire you. So then I'm the person
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: who like walks up to you and is like, Hi, Hi,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: it's me Namiley when you DM Dungeons and Dragons as
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: a woman of color and you remind the nerd boys
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: that D and D can and should be fun. My
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: heart source because they're so mean when you want to laugh.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: They're so mean when you want to giggle about something,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: and then just like run away into the night.
- 1:01:22Speaker 4: Yeah, dissipate, they'll never see me again.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: I have a question to bring us back to our
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: topic of sure, which character would you be in Mama
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Mia Donna?
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I used to think that I was telling ya, but
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: I don't want to get married three times, So now
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: I would like to be Donna without a child. Donna,
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: but I gave the baby away.
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: Is alternate universe and.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I still just live on that giant hotel on the
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: cliff that no one can find me.
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: I think I RESI the most was Sophie, even though
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: I know who my father is, I do have paternal certainty,
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: so I guess that's different. But I did get married
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: at twenty, and I am a little off my rocker
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: at times, so I feel like it has to be her.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Oh the way the way that like someone mentioned that
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: lay All Your Love on Me was their favorite song,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: and the way that they dramatically, like Amanda Seafreed, like
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: walking on that beach with her hair blowing, and she
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: like means it when she's like dunk wasting, I'm like,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: damn girl, Oh there's percent And then they have sex
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: on the beach in front of all of his friends.
- 1:02:42Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, cool man, Yeah man looks cool. I was
- 1:02:48Speaker 4: gonna say. I also had written down that Sky her
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: husband was her fiance boyfriends person was totally cool with
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: just getting married because she wanted to.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Yeah, which I don't know. I don't know how we
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: feel about it, because like I just feel like married
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: things and like having kid things, and like it's not
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: like picking Chili's to go to dinner. It's not like
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: just like whatever you want. Like it's like, no, we're
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: gonna sign a contract that's like very hard to get
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: out of and my mother is going to have to
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: run up a cliff. So if we're gonna do it,
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: let's do it.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: And I will be on a donkey and I will
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: be on a donkey.
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: I feel like.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Again it lends itself to that whole like, oh, you know,
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: this is what girls are supposed to want, and you
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: know men are just their kind of concept about marriage well,
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: and I appreciate peers Harry for being like, should.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: She really be getting married? Yeah, he was.
- 1:03:52Speaker 4: Like about that. But I also feel.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: Like, for whatever reason, Donna just like pretended like as
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Sophie got older, she would just like forget that children
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: have fathers or something. So I understood that, like getting
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: married and doing it correctly became Sophie's teddy bear. She's like,
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I can do it correctly, like I can do the
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: whole thing.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: And I do want to point out for people who
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: are listening to the replay and not watching us on video,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: Natalie put correctly in air quotes.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Yeah I did. I thought I made my sarcastic voice correctly.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Correctly.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: So anyways, it became like her teddy bear, and so
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: like I get it because I think that Donna what
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: you find out from like Mama Mia. Here we go again.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: She was probably twenty around like they had just graduated college.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: So like too, so like I'm still young.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: I'm sorry, maybe they had they graduate from something. There's
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: a whole scene about it. So she's like around that
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: eighteen nineteen. You know, she's in that moron age where
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: you like get like pregnant, and you don't know who
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: the father is and you just like roll with it.
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: Also, like DNA tests, no one was like I want
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: like a DNA test.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Yeah. They were all like, we don't need to find
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: out again.
- 1:05:21Speaker 4: Nile, It's like I'd like to get a genome sequenced, please.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: No, No, no one wanted to know if they were
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: one hundred percent that bitchad No one wanted.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: To find being thirty thirty, thirty three percent.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: Yeah, which again, did we already talk about this? I
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: can't imagine a group of men.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: Being okay with the idea of like, sure, we'll all
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: be your dad like that just to me was like,
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: there's do I not know the right men?
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: It's very unrealistic. I feel like the ride would get
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: in the way. I feel like like I just feel
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: like it's not because remember in the eighties when we
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: all watched like Three Men and a Little Lady or
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: like three Men and a Baby Little Lady.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Is the sequel.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: It's like they split it because they were three idiots
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: who got a baby dumped onto them and they didn't
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: know how to adult.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: So they were like, I guess we're all gonna have
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: to do this.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: But like in this situation, like, at no point did
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: anyone feel tricked? And I'm like, did you guys forget
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: that you were tripped?
- 1:06:31Speaker 4: Like this is a trip there? You got that Donna
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: invited you surprised?
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Yeah, why would she?
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's how else they would They wouldn't probably
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: they probably wouldn't.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: Have come otherwise.
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: If it wasn't Donna inviting men. You know what I
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: would have done. I wouldn't have even mentioned if I
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: was Sophie, I wouldn't have even mentioned my mom, because
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: how do you know they ended on such good terms.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: I would have been like, you have won a free
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: vacation to this small Greek island and like here's a voucher. Yah,
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: because what if they're like Donna? Ever, I ain't going.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: Because as we learned, Harry came back and for her and.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: She was running off with one of the other ones
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: and he was so disappointed.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it was Bill. I think she was good,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: and you know what good honor because like I choose
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: to heal after breakups with like a cry in the
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: shower and like a Snickers bar and then I'm over it.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: But if she wanted to get on a on a
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: boat with a Scars Guard. More power to her.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: We have we have gard.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: None of us will ever turn down the Scars Guard,
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: not even been.
- 1:07:38Speaker 4: Who doesn't want to just join a great lineage honestly lineage.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: And I don't like. And then like there's just like
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: a durable little Colin Firth and he's just so precious.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: They see for their date, they do the Napoleon and
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the waterloose on for them.
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: It's great.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he kind of has like like what like
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: what a girl wants vibes without having the stick up
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: his ass. I love what a girl wants me too, girl,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: I love I love Colin Firth.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: There is just something like my critical role people that
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: is so huggable about you just like want to walk
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: up and like frame his face with your hands. That's
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: what I want to do, my dad, and just like
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: make him put his forehead on your forehead while you
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: just stand here awkwardly. And then like you just like
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: want to whisper doing a secret.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: Like are we all frozen frozen frozen? No, it's just you,
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: It's just you.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: You'll come back, my friends.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Sorry about all of the you.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Just like you want to whisper callin for the secret.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Because you know it would be safe with him and
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: he is okay.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Have you seen him in a single man?
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Mm hmm hmmm, I ever have with Matthew Good.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: It's so good.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: Oh, I think maybe I we'll watch it. Then.
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure it's Matthew Good.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Let me add that to my ever running list of movies.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: Seriously, Yes, Matthew Good. They play.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Partners and there's a tragedy and it's beautiful. It's Tom Ford,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: tom Ford, the fashion designer.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: I think it's the director.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I don't even remember this movie coming out writer.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Tom Ford was a writer too, but he directed it.
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: Yeah, he directed it. Also, chat, who do you think
- 1:09:44Speaker 4: you'd be in Mama Mia? I want to know if
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: other people what they.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Where?
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: All my Tanya's at'd be Tanya. I think it'd be
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: a Tanya and the other friend what was her name, Rosie.
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: I'd be a mix of the two, because you know,
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: I'm like a writer, right like that's But I also
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: I think had I not ended up being a donna
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: in real life, I would have had multiple I or
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: at least multiple partners who you know, left me wealthy
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: at the end of our relationship.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: I think I have been the rosie in my like
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: like group of friends. I've been the lady who has
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: just been like staring at you from a table to
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: be like, I mean, no one else is walking up
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: to you.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: That's not exactly a great line.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: I just don't no one else is coming up to you.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: I know.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: That's why I used me and said that I would
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: have sense by That's why I use the past tense.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: I love that song. Take a chance on me, honey,
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I'm still free. Take a chance on me if you
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: got no place to go. She's great. I love Rosy
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: and like when Donna's crying in the bathroom and they
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: sing her chickaquita.
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's so cute. I think of my two
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: friends where I'm like, I wonder if they would ever
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: sing to me? And then I'm like, and do I
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: want them to sing to me?
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Though, honestly, I wish my friends would sing to me more.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: This is my request.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Well now that I know that I hear your voice
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: memos every day, and I'll sing, do you want a song?
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: Or do you want me to just sing to you?
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: What I'm doing?
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: Any and all of it I can't get I am
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: like one of those undiagnosed ADHD people who's like, I
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: love my lavender roller, It's gonna make me calm. Like
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: it's always like blues Clues up in this house.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Well, blues Clues did raise us.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and like Penelope hates it, my cat. No, she
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: hates singing, she hates music.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: She hates joy typical tat.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I only believe that she very much regrets that she
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: walked up to me during that lightning storm, because she's
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: like that bitch was quiet and crying when I walked
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: up to her, and then I got into her house
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and it's disco fever all day?
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Is that how you got Penelope?
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: I didn't use what you were just saying you would
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: use on a man.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: Yeah. I was crying in my friend's parking lot because
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: he was moving and we had just had like our
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: last scary movie night or whatever before he moved. It
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: was like two or three am. There was a heat
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: lightning storm and I stopped to like look at the lightning,
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: and she came and she sat on my foot and
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: she just like looked up at me, and I was like, oh, no,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: what do you do when it git in sits on
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: your foot during a lightning storm, and she followed me
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: around and she like walked over to like a lamp
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: so I could like check her out, and she was
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: pretty healthy. She has like a scar on her nose
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: from something that scratched her. And then like my friend
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: was no help. I texted him. I was like, what
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: do I do with this cat? It'sponded with me and
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: he's like, I don't know, it's three am. Do what
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: you do or go and like do what you're gonna do.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: He's like, I'm going to bed, and then I went home.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: So then she watched me as I drove off.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: Ah, that's the worst guy.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: And I So that was a Thursday night. All Friday.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I didn't have any cat stuff at home. I was
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: a single lady, no pets, and I was like, I'm
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: not going to Walmart at three am. I'm not doing
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: it and not happening. So I drove off. But then
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I cried for an entire Friday. So then he went
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: back out on a Saturday, saw her and nabbed her
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: for me.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: Oh I'm glad he redeemed himself.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: Yeah, like you know what, like friends, countryman, if someone
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: is literally texting you the I don't know what to
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: do in this situation. Thing. They are legitimately asking you
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: their advice, right. They are an undiagnosed ADHD person who
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: is now hyper focused on a kitten they found in
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: your parking lot, and they need you to tell them
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: that it's okay to go home.
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: I ask for people's advice a lot. What does that mean?
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean it's I like to crowdsource.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I love crowdsourcing because then I use all that information
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: for my own decision.
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: So don't just tell them like I don't have time
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: for this, I'm going to bed. Like that's not great.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: You are the only person that they oh, is awake
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: because you are the only person who you literally just
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: left their home.
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: Yeah right, and it just helped you move, right, you
- 1:14:51Speaker 4: guys give me some feedback.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, And by help you move, I mean that I
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: talk to you while you put things into boxes because
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: I'm not doing that. Like that is the support that
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I'm just cute while you have to do things cute.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: But my other guy emotional support cuteness.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: Right, my other guy friend who also cannot sleep. He
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: told me he's like, you're about to take a nine
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: year old's cat, Like that cat belongs to someone, and
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: I was like, I mean, if.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: It's living in a parking lot for the last two days,
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: is it really though?
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: I believe I said nine year olds should be more
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: responsible for their things.
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: And gentlemen.
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: This is how Natalie has confirmed she should not have children.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: This is how right, this is how I truly feel
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: about children. I'm like, they should be more responsible about
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: their things. She was, but she was like, so, if
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: anyone has seen my cat on Instagram, she has like
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: a full coat, which she is like a literal princess
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: diva of a goddess of a cat. When I got her,
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: all of her hair was very short and wiry, and
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: she had this cut along her nose and the only
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: flufy part of her was her tail. Yeah, so I
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: thought that she was just gonna be like this abomination
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: of a cat, just a real short haired cat with
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: this like feather boa of a tail. But we got
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: some food into her and some water and some like
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: love and affection, and we got her fleas treated and
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: she's just like poofed. Yeah, like I can hold People
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: think that she's like the fattest cat in the world,
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: but I can just like hold her in the palm
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: of my hand because it's literal fur.
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: Yeah, because she's very lean, it's all her form.
- 1:16:37Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Final question, are you still comfy with Mama Mia? You
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: know what?
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: I love a good scam, like the con worked out?
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: She got three rich dads. What more could we ask her?
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Serious? And they all want to help.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: They all want to help because I love white man guilt, like,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: sign me up, sign me How many else came?
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I rent for a year and see what I can
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: do creatively if I don't have to worry about feeding
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: myself and my housing myself and Paige.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: You brought up a good point to no one outwardly
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: shamed Donn.
- 1:17:17Speaker 4: That's why I think I'm still comfi.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Yeah, she assumed people were shaming her, Yes.
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: Which is very typical. We do something that we're like, oh,
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: maybe not the best decision, and you're like, now everyone
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: associates my identity with like this one period of time
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: or like there's one thing that I did. And I
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: think the fact that like everyone was just like okay,
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: Like even when they remained her diary, they were like
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: dot dot dot Yeah, were like you stanky bird.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: Yeah, that's not shaming, that's like, get it girl, like
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: the opposite of shaming support. So I think I think
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: I am still comfiy just simply off of the lack
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: of shaming of second And.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: When Sophie had that like really ugly moment, I think
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: she was literally just like projecting back to Donna what
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Donna's inner monologue was. And that's why it was so jarry.
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, because society.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Does do a really good job, Like women are not
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: allowed to have more multiple partners, women aren't allowed to,
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: you know, understand their sexuality in any way, shape or form.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: And here comes Donna and she's like, I got this
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: shit handled and I don't need you.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: They palk this dolphin concrete decoration on my floor.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: On my own you where were you when it was cracked?
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: Not here?
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: Not yeah? Yeah? Where were you for twenty years?
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: Not here? Yeah? And I can tell you what Pierce
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Brosnan wasn't doing, and it wasn't learning how to sing.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: They really don't care if men can sing in these movies.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: But do you remember though, Russell crog got panned because
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: he couldn't sing, like that was like a thing. People
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: like nobody cared about the rest of it. Like everyone
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: just honed in on Russell.
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: So I'm talking about the movie creator.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: So here's the thing.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: I get it, Russell Crowe, Like Gladiator, I still do
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: just like turn to a crowd and be like, are
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: you not entertained? Like I get it, Russell Crowe, you
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: really feel like is a big money maker draw? Yeah,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: but you can't cast him as the second fucking protagonist
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: in lay miss to a huge jackman.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, he is like king Theata.
- 1:19:35Speaker 4: No one can follow him honestly, honestly.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: And why not just do what they did fifty years ago,
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: sixty years ago where they just hire the same vocal
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: actor to sing everyone's parts right now, Like, if you're
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: gonna cast somebody who can't sing, then dum, where's our
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: vocal actor?
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Amanda Seafree let the cat out of bag. Out of
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: the bag that they didn't double lame is at all.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: They made them sing live on set. Yeah, and it
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: like roached her voice And now she's like really disappointed
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: because I mean what it ended up doing was like
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: teaching her a lot about vocal stamina and how you
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: build that back, but she didn't build it back enough
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: in time to like get Glinda in the wicked mood
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: and She's like, I've always wanted to be Glinda, but.
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: I bet that really helped her in her dropout feature
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: being Elizabeth Holmes, which she kind of has voice like
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: that probably was like a little helpful to have developed
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: that rasp.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: But I couldn't imagine like knowing how much you have
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: to cut and then reset and then it's like what
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: line of the song were we on?
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: And it's like, well, And.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: That's that's the thing about stage versus movie, right, Like
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: stage acting is so different than screen acting. And so
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: when you know, I learned of that too, I just
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: had this moment of like singing like I have not
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: that I don't have respect for fucking screen actors, Like
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: that's not what I'm saying, but stage acting is.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: So much more demanding and so much more intense, so
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: less room for flaws. So to expect your cast.
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: To be able to sing all the way through live
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: every time the movie set on a movie set like
- 1:21:25Speaker 2: that to me is like are you a sadist?
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Like are you helted with water?
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: Like it's so insane to me, and then for insane
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: to me, and really.
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: That movie went down in flames because of Russell Crowe
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: and it's like, so here you thought, well, we'll make
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Russell Crowe do it, it'll be great, and he's saying
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: like this a low up bread like that's how he's
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: say a million.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: Entire movie and you yeah, exactly. It's saying, then you
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: have like the huge Jackman of the world, and then.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: I don't know you have.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: And I have to do a whole separate lam.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Yeah, we're finding out like you have Anne Hathaway Lane
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: in a ditch going I dreamed and dream of time
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: gone by and then like Russell Crow was like you there,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: you prisoner, Like that's how he's saying the entire movie. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: it was for inappropriate.
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know, that's definitely a thing we're gonna
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: get into when we when we do, because that will
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: be so much fun.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: Apparently I have a lot of feeling panel we're gonna
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: have to watch lay Miss and it's three hours. It
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: is show not being able to let it go.
- 1:22:39Speaker 4: Well, let's go because eventually we'll do how about we
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: do okay, listen, how would we do Lame Miss when
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: it's cold?
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: Because then it's like you can sit down for three hours.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: Because it was a Christmas release. I remember going on
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Christmas to see it in the movie theater. My poor
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: brother in law had to sit in between me and
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: my sister as we quietly and made fun of Russell
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: crow Yeah, you know what it's like to bring but
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: making fun of Russell Crowe.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean my best friend and I went and
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: saw it together and we were both just like, how
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: do we resolve how we feel right now?
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: My brother in law that that Christmas break had to
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: see so many movies with my sister and I and
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: he thought he was safe. No, with the remake of
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Red Dawn, He's like, there's no way that they will
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: quietly weep during this movie. And then something happened the
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: good looking one died or something.
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: Like shoot out in the apartment.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: I think he's like, why red don Why why?
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: Okay Natalie, Yes, first, we're gonna let page tell everybody

- 1:25:21Speaker 1: onto ads. I really feel like I could make a
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: career out of it.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: And so go ahead.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Last Thursday, our topic was misogyny crosses cultures. This Thursday

- 1:25:54Speaker 1: that is a nine to five and we drop every
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: Thursday and tomorrow we'll be talking about One Tree Hill
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: in the final four episodes on Instagram on the men
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: I've tolerated pod Instagram. I'm not gonna put you on
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: the spot to be like, have you watched lema.
- 1:26:16Speaker 2: Oh, it's really hard not to talk about it with
- 1:26:18Speaker 2: you in between our shows because damn, friends, you know me,
- 1:26:25Speaker 2: I'm your host of pop Culture makes me jealous, Julia Washington,
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: you can find us wherever you find your podcasts. We
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: are also on Instagram. Pop Culture makes me jealous.
- 1:26:34Speaker 4: We are.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: After One Tree Hill is done this.
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: Week, we will be doing the new A League of
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: their Own that will be on Amazon Prime.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: That is that is the problem.
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Congratulations to Abby Jacobsen on her engagement. Yes, yeah, that
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: she's tuning in.
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: Yes she is, and.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: We're gonna cover your new show, so starting next week,
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: lead you their own.
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: You can.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: Let's see what else do we have to tell everybody every.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: Other Monday piece Olivia Newton John, that's.
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: The yep, thank you for that.
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: I had a note to bring up Olivia Newton John
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: so we could do a moment for her and if
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: there was.
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: A favorite song or role that she did. I used
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: to sing, Yeah.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: I used to saying the entire Grease soundtrack to all
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: of my stuffed animals. It's what convinced me that I
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: could infect saying. And then I found out when I
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: was seventeen that that was not true. But I would
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: literally line them all up and do the entire show
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: for them. It was the first PG thirteen movie my
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: aunt snuck me to get to see, Yeah Lady No,
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: which by the way, hopelessly devoted to you, not in
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: the stage production.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I did not at all. Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: It's interesting a lot of what changes happened from some
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: of the earlier productions, like Why Side Stories got a
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: bunch of changes too, like the Steve Steven Spielberg one
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: actually is more true. I think in terms of like order,
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: because cools in the first act, not the second act,
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: and then the one from nineteen sixty one cools in
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: the second act.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: But that's not the point.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: The point is is Olivia Newton, John, thank you for
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: bringing joy to our lives and the music we loved
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: from the seventies and eighties that you for dance all
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: in Xanta do, and everything that you brought to the
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: creative culture that is performance.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: We will miss you.
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: Friends.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: Get your titties checked because it is very important. John
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: Travolta has now lost to women he loves desperately to
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: breast cancer.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: Yeah, my titties are wearing Tolerator merch.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Yes they are. And I was surprised you didn't plug that.
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: So I'm gonna plug both of our merches right now.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: I forgot until you brought up titties.
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: That's okay.
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: Friends, If you are Team Tolerator, hit up the Team
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Tolerator shopify. It is in Natalie's Lincoln bio in her Instagram,
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: and get your Team Tolerator gear asap because you need
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: to know. Second, we also have merch for pop culture.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: Makes me jealous.
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Hit that merch up. Buys some merch merchorch merchech Merge.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: We will be back in two weeks with another topic,

- 1:29:21Speaker 2: we will see you all tomorrow on Instagram for one
