- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: You are listening to the built-to-grow podcast, delivering the knowledge in all things, fitness, business.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: We help jimrollers win, hear your hosts, ten lions, and Randy Axton.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to the built-go podcast.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host Tim Lyons joined by Randy Inkston.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love that everyone probably knows how to spell it now.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: Inkston.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: Inkston.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: All right, guys, there's a very popular book out right now.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: I've read it.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's very simple to understand.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, the title basically tells you what the book's about.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's called Who Not How?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Dr. Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan are the authors.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: You guys may have heard of those gentlemen.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: They've written many, many books, many books together.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I read the book and it all makes sense, but there's a missing piece to this book that is just assumed.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I had an epiphany.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: The other, I bet it's about three weeks, four weeks ago now.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: Looking into AI and looking at all the stuff going on, I found a software called N-EatN.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: The letter N, the number eight in the letter N again, I don't know if it's I or a combat either way, it's a
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: AI automation workflow is so it's beautifully done where there's this canvas.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very familiar with how the left to right and you draw arrows between the little they call nodes, but they're icons and basically you can connect up to five hundred different apps and uses AI in between there.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: They call it a agentic solution when you have bots, multiple bots like transcribing and then using the cuts of
- 2:01[SPEAKER_01]: specific transcripts or then rewrite things like emails and you can create this huge workflow.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really limitless.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: I went down a rabbit hole, Nick knows all about this, but I was on a plane, we were heading Nashville and I'm like so into it, like I'm nerding out and watching every video use case after use case and how it works and all these things.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a perfect scenario where I don't need to learn how it's done.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: I need to find somebody that who that who that could build it.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's what the books about.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of you learning how an an or automation works or how to do the programming or what the code is, just find the who that's able to do at for you.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thing.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the thing that hit me on that plane.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you don't know what
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: It is that you want to build the who not house irrelevant.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what do you want to accomplish right?
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it takes a bigger thinker and I and I trying to put myself on a pestle at all, but I want to make a really big point here.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know there's a lot of Jim owners out there that are looking for
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: agentic AI solutions to run workflows for their business.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't think that's part of the conversation and I just isn't, but like it's exactly what I'm doing and I'm looking outside the industry and I'm looking at the next big thing and I'm trying to figure out how to solve problems in our business.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: in a higher somebody and it's going to be cool because of the cool stuff it's going to do and it's going to save us hours of man hours and tens of thousands of dollars.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I think we calculated over thirty actually it's closer to sixty thousand depending on what we do with you know in hard costs continuing continuing costs with a one-time
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: like build out, build out for cost.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be some maintenance going to tweak it and stuff like that.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: So like the question becomes, what are you doing to figure out the what you need to build?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: And how do you find out what the opportunities and what the forward thinking solutions are that will help you solve your problems?
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if that's a normal thought when a Jim owner wakes up to go work at the gym today.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_02]: I would say probably not because I mean even if we take away the what?
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, the what is relevant because of problems, maybe that occur in the business or repetitive tasks.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's the things that obviously we know we could do it.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: We know we could do with it.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_02]: Does a gym owner enter their business daily or, you know, from time to time and even think about the things that could be done and leveraged by a system and what where huge and systems, a Y system systems are leveraged, right?
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know, just use programming for example.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't have a system that's going to deliver programming, you're spending hours every week handwriting coming up with that stuff yourself and there's energy and cost and bandwidth that all of that stuff's limited, but there's other opportunities out there that you can leverage to gain that stuff back.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Jim owners are notorious for just doing it themselves or going into the business and putting out the fires themselves right they I think even Jim most Jim owners again with just the Jim owners that we're talking to consistently there is even a limit on the
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: Who component a trust factor even a cash flow?
- 5:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know thought like I like I can't afford to bring somebody in to do this I'll do it myself and it just be put then become cyclical right like if you're never Maybe you don't have the capital to do that for the next year but
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: Can you leverage somebody else in the business or a system in the business to you're going to have to pay either to build up the system or employ the person for a little while?
- 5:45[SPEAKER_02]: What are you doing with that time that you've just bought back?
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: And that's the biggest thing is leverage to then put yourself back into what we term as income producing activities, right?
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: What are the other valuable things that your time could be and should be spent on that's going to move the needle of your business the greatest.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_02]: going into your business and I hate to say it, but in this industry, guys, if you're the one doing your training all of the time, you're absolutely missing the boat on the business that you should be running.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's you are the business, right?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: And there's a million things we can get into on why that will be a problem over the course of your career or ownership journey.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't do something to get out of that, I'll just do it myself, mentality, you're always going to be the one that's doing it yourself, always.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_02]: And so, leverage even in the interim, find a system, find a staff, bring them in part time, do what you can to then incrementally get yourself out of that seat.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_02]: So that your time can be spent on the things that you should be doing in your business, not something that you should be employing somebody or building a system to handle.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I'll all relevant points.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_01]: Think about now going back to like the what for second.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have your numbers?
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: weekly, quarterly, are they developed in a way that they're readable, they're in graphs there.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: So you know where your business stands, the key performance indicators.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know your delta?
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know your month over numbers?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, and if you don't, that would be an exact what?
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: That you should find a who for.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I need to find somebody that can give me and deliver these numbers to me weekly, quarterly, monthly, whatever, whatever unit you need.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: as the owner to run your operation smoother.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how you do it, just this is the what I need thing.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: So like that's a really good, easy use of your time or the use of finding the what.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_01]: Think about, okay, so again, going back to the what, you have to be the visionary of your operation.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so always every day look, look for things to approve upon whether or not that's
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: your automation, or how you train sessions, or how you coach your coaches, or how you clean the gym.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Think about all of the ways to optimize.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably step one.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you're always thinking to yourself all the time, if I just had this thing, it would make these other three things easier.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's the what you need to figure out.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Good point.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think a gym owner, CEO, visionary type person's best use of time is always looking at,
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: the what's like what is possible and then getting outside get just get out of the industry of the fitness industry when you're looking for education you just go to youtube whatever like the fact that i got into the weeds a little bit i found like i literally googled it
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: N-A-N, or YouTube, it use cases, best use cases, because I want to know what, what other is doing.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: What can, what can I leverage this solution for versus me just thinking about anything?
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay, ninety percent you'll never need.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's so many things that will just go out and scrape the internet and create up like the topics and create Reddit posts and build up your YouTube subscribers and all this stuff.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: You don't need that as a gym owner.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: But like, okay, it was cool to see that can do this, so maybe down the road, I need something like that.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: But guys, it's, I don't know, and there's other ones, there's pipe dreams.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: There's other workflow automation systems that leverage apps in AI.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, it's like a, it's like, Zapier on.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_01]: multiple steroids growth hormones you know what I mean it's just it's just so interesting and so it's limitless there you have voice outbound calling bots you got each whatever you want and it's moving at the speed of light it's going so fast and I think you know as you you're kind of articulating that like the what
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: At almost every gym owner we work with and probably those that we don't are using some form of AI for maybe copyrighting for social posts for things like that.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: But it's them jumping in throwing something in there with a prompt, getting that results, taking that to Facebook or social posting themselves.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: that's the benefit is like you can do all of that without you having to manually do any of it.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: And so I guess the challenge there is look at even the things that you're using AI for and see how far the what is the
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: the process that's happening and how can I leverage this with a system to do all of it for you.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_01]: And the way that would work is again, in some type of a gented workflow system, be it any end or another one, you have a voice telegram where you tell the system
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: I want to post on nutrition habits of the athletes and what they eat in a day and then send it back to me for approval.
- 10:51[SPEAKER_01]: You just send that down the workflow.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: It creates it, prove deny, prove it's posted.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's the what, right?
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's just, again, you don't need to know how it happens.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: You just need to know who to find that knows how to make that happen.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: But again, it's up to you, Jim owner to determine the what.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_01]: in the sky's a limit, especially in like this might every time we say this like the best time would be alive like this is insane like if you're not picking and we'll do a whole episode on all the AI tools we're using right now to run profit to run the gym health to run the real estate company there's there's AI solutions over there that are
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: amazing and they've made me lots of money for me not doing anything and it's just because the system is set up.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Well I promise to you we're gonna we'll spend more time while actually right down and like like get you the URLs and stuff and tell you what to do.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think that would be a really cool little series maybe not off the top of our domes but like right you know we'll do it right.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: So, anyways, the epiphany I had, the book who not how is missing the what?
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many missing, like the gym owners, your job is to create, figure out what the what's are, what do you need to have to done, then find the who's not how to do it, all the things that all makes sense.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: But in order for you to find the what's, you gotta look, get your head up out of the business, pop your head up out of the sand and start looking around you because there's other industries doing things better than us.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: better than gyms.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can take from steel like model, like do whatever and leverage those for your own business and you know, sky's the limit.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully that helps you guys figure just throw that out there, but gosh guys, I'm so fired up about AI and tech and it's not just Chad JBT.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully that helps you guys until next episode keep changing lives.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you on the next show.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Bye.
