- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money. She's on the Money. Hello, and
- 0:13Speaker 1: welcome to a brand new season of She's on the Money,
- 0:16Speaker 1: the podcast Millennials who want Financial Freedom. If you've already
- 0:19Speaker 1: listened to the show, you'd know that I'm Georgia Ki.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I'm a copywriter and as of recently, a master's a
- 0:24Speaker 1: journalism you guys, and look, I've still got a lot
- 0:27Speaker 1: to learn about money. Thankfully, joining me as always is
- 0:32Speaker 1: Victoria Devine.
- 0:33Speaker 2: She's sitting across with me right now.
- 0:35Speaker 1: She's a millennial, she's a financial advisor, and she is
- 0:38Speaker 1: the lucky woman who gets to be on this podcast
- 0:40Speaker 1: with me.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Victoria, Hi, Hello, how are you? Georgia Ki LONGHI so generous?
- 0:46Speaker 2: Thank you for letting me on this podcast with you.
- 0:49Speaker 2: How are you? I'm so good? But do you know what?
- 0:53Speaker 2: I am so glad to be behind a microphone.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's good to be back.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Minutn't it three months? See?
- 1:00Speaker 1: How did that happen?
- 1:01Speaker 2: Look? I feel like we know how that happened.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Thanks pandemic.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Just a tiny one, not to undermine in any way,
- 1:10Speaker 3: shape or form, but I have been working from home.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Has that been?
- 1:14Speaker 2: It has been good? But it has given me a
- 1:16Speaker 2: greater appreciation for the office.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I know a lot of people have sensed that the.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like before this I would always say
- 1:24Speaker 3: things like, oh, I wish I could work from home,
- 1:26Speaker 3: more like I want the flexibility give me my structure
- 1:29Speaker 3: about So I'm looking forward to being back in the
- 1:32Speaker 3: office hopefully soon if we can keep our numbers. Yes,
- 1:37Speaker 3: that has been really good. But I'm also really grateful
- 1:39Speaker 3: for this period because i feel like I've had a
- 1:41Speaker 3: lot of reflection time for shees on the money, been
- 1:44Speaker 3: able to create a lot of content or plan a
- 1:46Speaker 3: lot of content to be created. And also I've been
- 1:50Speaker 3: able to interact with our community. I feel I've been
- 1:53Speaker 3: a good to interact with our community in a way
- 1:55Speaker 3: that we haven't been able to before. Yeah, there's been
- 1:57Speaker 3: some beautiful posts over the.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Last so much support.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, exactly so much support. So many people
- 2:04Speaker 3: coming in to help each other out, so many people saying, hey,
- 2:07Speaker 3: this is my issue, and others who are lawyers or
- 2:10Speaker 3: you know, HR specialists jumping in and saying, well, actually,
- 2:13Speaker 3: this is how this should work for you. I know
- 2:17Speaker 3: that there was a couple of girls helping each other
- 2:19Speaker 3: out in the group apply for job keeper and job seeker,
- 2:22Speaker 3: depending on you know, which one was applicable.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And I just feel like that's the type of community
- 2:27Speaker 2: that we've been trying to grow and it's exactly exactly.
- 2:30Speaker 2: It's amazing. So I'm super proud of that. But yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 2: excited to be back behind a mic.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Yeah right, it's exciting.
- 2:36Speaker 2: How are you? I'm good.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Yeah, Look, it has been an interesting three months to me.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I guess, as I mentioned before, I've started my Master's
- 2:44Speaker 1: of journalism.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Going then I think you finished a whole semester, did.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I've just knocked that one over. So that's been it's
- 2:50Speaker 1: been nice getting back into the uniqu headspace. But along
- 2:53Speaker 1: with that, I've moved back in with the parents at
- 2:55Speaker 1: the art right. I'm twenty six, so bless them for
- 2:59Speaker 1: having me.
- 3:00Speaker 3: But no, that's pod I didn't change a room into
- 3:02Speaker 3: a guest bedroom and then not that you.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Move back in.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I'm very lucky. So thanks mum and dad if you're listening.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But yeah, so just been adjusting to that not paying rent,
- 3:11Speaker 1: which is also amazing, amazingly hard time. And I know
- 3:14Speaker 1: how privileged I must sound saying that, but yeah, I'm.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Very grateful, absolutely not.
- 3:18Speaker 3: I think it's nice to acknowledge that it is a
- 3:20Speaker 3: privileged thing to happen, but it's also, like, let's be honest,
- 3:24Speaker 3: like great, fantastic, A lot of people are going to
- 3:26Speaker 3: be in that situation where they've had to move back
- 3:28Speaker 3: in with family or back in with friends, or you know,
- 3:31Speaker 3: make really dramatic changes to the living situation.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Because this has been hard on a lot of us.
- 3:36Speaker 1: It's completely you know, it's insane lives around, isn't it.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yep. But Georgia King, we are back.
- 3:41Speaker 3: We are a very good season and I'm so excited
- 3:45Speaker 3: that we are doing this because I feel like last season,
- 3:48Speaker 3: Georgia and I actually sat down guys before our season
- 3:51Speaker 3: ended and we actually picked all of our topics for
- 3:54Speaker 3: next season. But given what has happened over the last
- 3:57Speaker 3: three months, we have gone back and re done our topics. Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 3: because we're very excited about it. Yeah, really excited about it.
- 4:04Speaker 3: But I just think there's so much more. I guess
- 4:06Speaker 3: let's call it bang for buck, but also just value
- 4:09Speaker 3: that we can give you guys to end the year
- 4:11Speaker 3: on a high. And I feel like it's important for
- 4:14Speaker 3: us to not jump straight back into investing content because
- 4:18Speaker 3: so many of us are not in positions where we
- 4:20Speaker 3: can even think about investing right now, So let's talk
- 4:22Speaker 3: about the things that we can have tangible impact on
- 4:25Speaker 3: so that everybody doesn't see twenty twenty as the year
- 4:28Speaker 3: that they completely fell off track.
- 4:30Speaker 1: So it's shaping up to be an amazing season and
- 4:33Speaker 1: we cannot wait to bring it to you guys. But
- 4:35Speaker 1: to stick to tradition, we'll chat through our money wins
- 4:38Speaker 1: or confessions from the last three months.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Victoria, Yeah, we do our traditional three months, right tradition.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Have you been good or bed?
- 4:47Speaker 3: I feel like I've been both, Like I feel like
- 4:49Speaker 3: there's been some things that I've been a little bit
- 4:51Speaker 3: naughty on, but then also there's been some things that
- 4:54Speaker 3: I've really learned and also embraced. I know that I'm
- 4:58Speaker 3: spending a lot less in general right now, which I
- 5:01Speaker 3: know lots of us are, because we haven't had the
- 5:03Speaker 3: opportunity to be out. I'm obviously not in the office,
- 5:06Speaker 3: so I'm not ordering uber eats all the time. I'm
- 5:09Speaker 3: also not going out for so many coffees. Albeit I
- 5:12Speaker 3: am walking to my local cafe every day and getting
- 5:15Speaker 3: a coffee then because I absolutely love them.
- 5:18Speaker 1: But it's kind of a nice little piece of routine
- 5:19Speaker 1: in the day.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I have found that. Yeah.
- 5:21Speaker 3: But also I love the routine and I love that
- 5:24Speaker 3: we are in a position where we can walk to
- 5:26Speaker 3: get a coffee and just get some fresh air.
- 5:28Speaker 2: So we're doing that.
- 5:30Speaker 3: But I also think that my money win for this
- 5:32Speaker 3: period of time is that I have learned that we do,
- 5:34Speaker 3: in fact have food at home, and as I have tasted, yes,
- 5:38Speaker 3: and I'm talking about trying right well, baby, So cooking
- 5:44Speaker 3: at home has been something that I've put extra effort
- 5:46Speaker 3: into making sure that my groceries are all planned for,
- 5:50Speaker 3: which has meant that my grocery bill has come down
- 5:52Speaker 3: and it's just really exciting. Yeah, I feel like I've
- 5:55Speaker 3: been trying to branch out, cook some different things. Nothing exciting.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Like Master Shaff, I'm cooking stir fries, guys.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But stir fries are.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Delicious, fresh, wholesome food that I am nourishing my body
- 6:06Speaker 3: with and I'm really grateful for that.
- 6:08Speaker 2: So that's my money win.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Ye.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Less money on takeaway food, more money on cooking at home.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Georgia King, do you have a money win or a
- 6:16Speaker 3: money confession for this period?
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Look, I do I'd say overwhelmingly. It's probably been a
- 6:23Speaker 1: money win of a period. I guess you could say
- 6:26Speaker 1: I just haven't really been spending, mainly because I don't
- 6:28Speaker 1: have an income.
- 6:29Speaker 2: So what a money when you lost your income? Is
- 6:32Speaker 2: that what we're talking about.
- 6:33Speaker 1: It's just like I don't have money to spend, so
- 6:35Speaker 1: I'm not spending it. So I'm proud of my discipline.
- 6:38Speaker 1: But yeah, it's just been I don't know, it hasn't
- 6:41Speaker 1: been a flat time, but yeah, I just haven't been spending, So.
- 6:45Speaker 2: That's a win, I guess. Yeah.
- 6:48Speaker 1: But you know, while with me, let's pep back up
- 6:51Speaker 1: and talk about the season again. What else have we
- 6:53Speaker 1: got in store?
- 6:54Speaker 3: I am actually most looking forward to the additional content, yes,
- 6:57Speaker 3: that we have to put out this season, so I'm
- 6:59Speaker 3: not talking about additional podcasts. So one of the episodes
- 7:03Speaker 3: that we have coming up in probably the middle of
- 7:06Speaker 3: this season is going to have an ebook that you
- 7:08Speaker 3: guys can download that'll be free for all. She's on
- 7:10Speaker 3: the money listeners. We've then got a number of other
- 7:14Speaker 3: tangible assets like downloadable budgets. So think if we're talking
- 7:17Speaker 3: about a wedding budget, downloadable wedding budget, Think if we're
- 7:20Speaker 3: talking about babies are how to plan for a Baby guide?
- 7:24Speaker 3: And I just am really excited about the add ons
- 7:26Speaker 3: that we have for the podcasts. Yeah, because we always
- 7:30Speaker 3: talk about it, right, we always say like, how cool
- 7:31Speaker 3: would it be to have this? But covid has been
- 7:35Speaker 3: a blessing in disguise for content creation because it has
- 7:38Speaker 3: meant that you and I Georgia have been able to
- 7:40Speaker 3: sit down talk about the episodes that we want to
- 7:42Speaker 3: bring to life, bring them to life, and talk about
- 7:45Speaker 3: the stats and the things that we want to share,
- 7:47Speaker 3: but also say to ourselves, how do we add extra
- 7:50Speaker 3: value here? And that's where the ebooks and the budgets
- 7:53Speaker 3: and the downloadable activities and things that will accompany some
- 7:56Speaker 3: of our podcasts this season will come from. And each
- 8:00Speaker 3: and every single time that we do this, all of
- 8:02Speaker 3: our Shes on the Money listeners will have a link
- 8:04Speaker 3: in the pod bio, so you'll be able to click
- 8:06Speaker 3: through download it if that is what you're into and
- 8:08Speaker 3: you actually want to engage with that. So I'm really
- 8:11Speaker 3: excited about that very interactive. Yeah, it's going to be
- 8:14Speaker 3: so fun and I know there's going to be even
- 8:16Speaker 3: more content that we can share on socials as well.
- 8:18Speaker 1: So podcast is going to be amazing. Yes, what else,
- 8:21Speaker 1: hopefully I've heard I've heard whispers.
- 8:23Speaker 2: That give up to just a little bit, just a
- 8:25Speaker 2: couple of things. So the first thing is that we
- 8:29Speaker 2: have finished the Ses.
- 8:30Speaker 1: On the Money books, the finest Bible.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean it's not called the Finance Bible.
- 8:35Speaker 3: No one's going to be surprised when they find out
- 8:37Speaker 3: that the book I've written is actually called Shees on
- 8:39Speaker 3: the Money. It'll be really hard for you guys to
- 8:42Speaker 3: find in store. But that has been wrapped up. I
- 8:46Speaker 3: have been working with my beautiful publishers to get that
- 8:49Speaker 3: completely wrapped. And you know, there's been lots of back
- 8:52Speaker 3: and forth around getting some additional content and making sure
- 8:55Speaker 3: that we have really great examples and you know, graphics,
- 8:58Speaker 3: and we're at the point where we the cover images,
- 9:01Speaker 3: which is so cool.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yep.
- 9:03Speaker 3: The second thing I'm going to talk about is our YouTube. Yes,
- 9:07Speaker 3: is really fun. Ryan John, our podcast editor, has been
- 9:11Speaker 3: an absolute legend and slightly bullied me into making sure
- 9:14Speaker 3: that I actually have done what I said I was
- 9:16Speaker 3: going to do. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago
- 9:18Speaker 3: on the Instagram that we were going to start a YouTube,
- 9:21Speaker 3: and everybody was really excited about it. We obviously haven't
- 9:24Speaker 3: launched it yet, but we have recorded a heap of
- 9:27Speaker 3: videos that in the next couple of weeks will start dropping.
- 9:30Speaker 1: What kind of content are we talking?
- 9:31Speaker 3: So the content is going to be obviously very She's
- 9:36Speaker 3: on the Money, but it's a little bit more personal
- 9:38Speaker 3: as well, so lots of Q and as with me
- 9:41Speaker 3: about my personal opinion on things, a little less pragmatic
- 9:45Speaker 3: than She's on the Money, content, interviews with other people.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Will be doing content that is aligned to fashion, content
- 9:52Speaker 3: that's aligned to beauty, because there's just so much that
- 9:55Speaker 3: we can talk about in this space, but it's also
- 9:58Speaker 3: not podcast appropriate some time. So I think that a
- 10:01Speaker 3: couple of three minute videos on you know what are
- 10:04Speaker 3: your best dupes for makeup? I love Chanelle makeup, but
- 10:08Speaker 3: that isn't always financially feasible. But I do have a
- 10:11Speaker 3: foundation that I love that costs fourteen dollars, so like,
- 10:14Speaker 3: let's talk about how good that is, and you know
- 10:17Speaker 3: how it's actually a really good dupe for the original.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So I think stuff like that, which you can engage
- 10:22Speaker 3: with if it suits you, or you can just miss
- 10:24Speaker 3: it completely, doesn't even matter. So that's the second thing
- 10:27Speaker 3: that we was that the second or that the.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Second, and Georgia.
- 10:31Speaker 3: The last thing, which arguably is the most exciting, is
- 10:35Speaker 3: our online course.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I know.
- 10:39Speaker 3: So we have just finished an online course. I will
- 10:43Speaker 3: let you guys know some more details about that soon.
- 10:46Speaker 3: But it has taken me the last twelve months to write.
- 10:49Speaker 3: So this isn't something that I turned around and said, oh,
- 10:52Speaker 3: during COVID, I'll just write an online course.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I'll do this. I have been putting this through its
- 10:56Speaker 2: paces for the last twelve months.
- 10:58Speaker 3: I feel like you, Georgia and everyone in our team
- 11:01Speaker 3: has not heard the end of this course.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I'm sorry, but I was exciting. It's super exciting.
- 11:07Speaker 3: But it'll be all about budgeting and cash flow and
- 11:10Speaker 3: the basis of financial freedom, so that everybody who engages
- 11:13Speaker 3: with it can actually be on the right paths, pick
- 11:17Speaker 3: their goals that actually align to creating a super secure
- 11:20Speaker 3: financial future. And I honestly, I feel like I've got
- 11:24Speaker 3: to a point where I'm really proud of the content now,
- 11:27Speaker 3: which we actually recorded a couple of weeks ago, so
- 11:30Speaker 3: that's slowly building out. Yeah, it's really fun.
- 11:34Speaker 2: That's all the stuff I've done.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Georgia gotten one thing which you haven't done. But it
- 11:37Speaker 1: is an exciting development, is it? Can we just look
- 11:40Speaker 1: around us, look at this space.
- 11:42Speaker 2: We're Georgia. I didn't even notice.
- 11:45Speaker 1: We are in our brand new podcasting studio.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Guys, we're big kids now we are.
- 11:51Speaker 1: We've made its casters.
- 11:54Speaker 2: We are legit podcasters.
- 11:55Speaker 1: We've moved out of Victoria's spare rooms, slashed the boardrooms
- 11:58Speaker 1: in the office. And think, I think this is a
- 12:01Speaker 1: legit podcasting studio. I think we sound more professional.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I think we are more professional.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Was there anything else we needed we needed to chat
- 12:09Speaker 1: about with I think that's completely it.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I have definitely waffled. But I would also like to
- 12:13Speaker 3: take this time to let everybody know that I got
- 12:15Speaker 3: a kitten.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Oh my god, Henry, Yes, Henry, for get sweet.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:20Speaker 3: It's totally not she's on the money content, but neither
- 12:23Speaker 3: is this episode.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Is it's true?
- 12:25Speaker 1: That is true? Tell us about Henry.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Henry is a beautiful, fifteen week old Tonknese kitten. He
- 12:32Speaker 3: is chocolate in color, and he is an absolute delight.
- 12:35Speaker 1: He's literally the cutest kitten I've ever seen in my life.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I haven't seen that many kittens. He may be the first,
- 12:40Speaker 1: but he's my favorite by a long mile.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I'm so glad to use Georgia.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I'm genuinely I'm not a cat person, but now I
- 12:47Speaker 1: know I may just be.
- 12:48Speaker 3: I heard you say that you weren't a cat person
- 12:51Speaker 3: before you met Henry, and then Henry's obsessed with you.
- 12:54Speaker 3: So you've got a new best friend. But who knows
- 12:57Speaker 3: if this is good content. I don't continue on with
- 13:01Speaker 3: where we were going with.
- 13:02Speaker 2: The basis of this.
- 13:03Speaker 1: I think essentially we can wrap it up there.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yes, I think so, because they've got a complete episode
- 13:08Speaker 3: to jump right.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Into of Sheese on the Money. This was just George
- 13:12Speaker 2: and I having a little bit of catch up, letting.
- 13:14Speaker 3: You know where we are, letting you know what we're
- 13:17Speaker 3: up to, and yeah, we're so glad to have you
- 13:19Speaker 3: guys back on board here for another season of Cheese
- 13:22Speaker 3: on the Money. So yeah, thank you for being along
- 13:25Speaker 3: this journey with us thus far.
- 13:27Speaker 2: George and I are so.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Excited to be if you can't already tell me, yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 3: like literally, we are bouncing off the walls in here.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Alright, you guys, We'll enjoy our first episode and we'll
- 13:37Speaker 1: see you very soon.
- 13:38Speaker 2: See you soon.
