- 0:00Carmen Lezeth: Hey everyone, welcome to All About the Joy.
- 0:02Carmen Lezeth: This is Culture and Consequence with Carmen and Andrea.
- 0:05Carmen Lezeth: But it keeps popping up all these things, and I don't know what they all mean.
- 0:08Carmen Lezeth: You know what he means?
- 0:09Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 0:09Carmen Lezeth: So I'm sorry.
- 0:11Andrea: So how you doing?
- 0:13Andrea: Yeah.
- 0:15Andrea: I'm actually really tired and I don't I don't feel that well.
- 0:17Andrea: So and I haven't I was thinking, I was like, okay, we need to talk about how Carmen's sleep is.
- 0:24Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 0:24Carmen Lezeth: It's getting better.
- 0:25Carmen Lezeth: I honestly feel like I think sleep is the most important thing you can do for your health.
- 0:31Carmen Lezeth: And it's not that I ever um thought that wasn't important.
- 0:35Carmen Lezeth: It's just not something I could ever grasp.
- 0:38Carmen Lezeth: So I'm really working on it and it's getting better.
- 0:41Carmen Lezeth: I'm still having issues with my hands.
- 0:43Carmen Lezeth: I think I told you maybe I haven't, but I'll just say it for anybody who might be watching for the first time.
- 0:48Carmen Lezeth: Welcome, all my new LinkedIn people who are watching.
- 0:53Carmen Lezeth: So usually I sleep probably maybe four, maybe five hours a night.
- 0:58Carmen Lezeth: Like, and it's never through like throughout the whole night, right?
- 1:01Carmen Lezeth: I wake up throughout the night, which has always been I wake up at any noise, any movement anywhere on the planet, clearly.
- 1:08Carmen Lezeth: And so I've been really working on it.
- 1:11Carmen Lezeth: But now that I'm sleeping through the night, even for the five hours, like, and I I don't move.
- 1:17Carmen Lezeth: Like I put the covers on me, they have not moved.
- 1:20Carmen Lezeth: Like, so I'm dead asleep.
- 1:22Carmen Lezeth: I'm like not moving.
- 1:25Carmen Lezeth: Um because I wake up and it's like perfect.
- 1:28Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 1:29Carmen Lezeth: Like just but I'm sleeping, I clearly sleep in almost a fetal position and with my hands curled, and it's called dinosaur hands.
- 1:41Carmen Lezeth: Um yeah, and so you sleep with them curled, but what ends up happening is the pain is yeah, really because it's you know, that's not a normal.
- 1:53Carmen Lezeth: So I don't know why that's happening, but now like trying to like I'm now trying to be aware of it, which is now keeping me up again.
- 2:01Carmen Lezeth: Like Jazz hands.
- 2:04Carmen Lezeth: So it's like do you notice how everything in my life goes back to dancing?
- 2:17Andrea: I'm just like well, I was gonna say, like, for me, when I sleep like that, and I don't do it often, but when I sleep so hard that I don't move, I always wake up with some, I mean, something hurts.
- 2:32Andrea: Right.
- 2:32Andrea: Your body just I think needs to move, you know.
- 2:36Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 2:36Carmen Lezeth: So I'm just, you know, look at I'm I'm excited that I'm even at this place where I'm sleeping through the night.
- 2:42Carmen Lezeth: Like I'm yeah, you know, like even to the point, and sorry if this is too much information, but whatever, we're here.
- 2:47Carmen Lezeth: Uh like I now have to stop drinking water like at eight o'clock.
- 2:53Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 2:54Carmen Lezeth: So that I don't get up.
- 2:55Carmen Lezeth: Like now I'm all all about like, you know, no, no screens for like three hours before I go to sleep.
- 3:01Carmen Lezeth: I try to read a book, like I'm trying to do all these things because I I realize how much better I feel when I sleep, which sounds so stupid.
- 3:11Carmen Lezeth: Like that should be like normal.
- 3:13Carmen Lezeth: I know, I don't know.
- 3:16Carmen Lezeth: So, but yeah, I don't know.
- 3:18Carmen Lezeth: Um, but of course, I think also just to, you know, I I think the heaviness of what's happening in the world doesn't help.
- 3:25Andrea: Um and yet I'm still getting I haven't been sleeping through the night.
- 3:31Andrea: And I really I was thinking about it this morning because I really like last night was bad.
- 3:35Andrea: I think I woke up at like one and I went back to sleep at like six.
- 3:39Andrea: Wow.
- 3:40Andrea: Which was really irritating um for all kinds of reasons.
- 3:43Andrea: Um and I realized like I haven't slept through the night since last Friday.
- 3:49Andrea: What happened last Saturday, right?
- 3:52Carmen Lezeth: Like, oh yeah.
- 3:53Carmen Lezeth: So you're talking about Alex's uh Yeah.
- 3:55Andrea: So I'm just kind of doom scrolling and you know, all like I don't sleep with my phone outside my room because I just don't do that.
- 4:03Andrea: But um does anyone do that?
- 4:06Andrea: Like that's a thing that apparently you're supposed to do if you're trying to get good sleep.
- 4:10Andrea: But I'm like, we don't have home phones anymore.
- 4:12Andrea: I need to have my phone in case there's an emergency.
- 4:14Andrea: Oh, I yeah.
- 4:15Carmen Lezeth: I haven't read that that far down into the sleeping.
- 4:19Andrea: Yeah.
- 4:20Andrea: But it's I mean, my point is that like, yes, I agree.
- 4:23Andrea: The heaviness, I think, has just made it hard to like deactivate or like, you know, reduce your adrenaline or whatever it is that, you know.
- 4:34Carmen Lezeth: Well, you're always on guard now, too, because you know the minute you do wake up, you're gonna see whatever, even if you're trying not to look at the news, you can't get away from we're talking about Alex Predi uh being killed by ICE agents.
- 4:48Carmen Lezeth: Um, and the date was uh he was killed on Saturday, January 24th.
- 4:54Carmen Lezeth: And I think that along with Renee Good, but just everything that's happening with ICE, I think it's just been really heavy and painful, and it's disrupting everyone's livelihood, even people's sleep.
- 5:05Carmen Lezeth: It seems to be unfortunately just where we're at, you know.
- 5:10Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 5:10Carmen Lezeth: And I have no advice.
- 5:12Carmen Lezeth: Um, I'm trying not to look at the news at night, like for three.
- 5:17Carmen Lezeth: That's it's really hard to look at your not to look at your phone for three hours before you go to bed, but I am being vigilant about it to the extent that I got like one of those emergency texts, which is like from one of your family members, and I didn't even see it or get it.
- 5:32Carmen Lezeth: That's how dead asleep I was.
- 5:34Carmen Lezeth: That has never happened to me.
- 5:35Carmen Lezeth: It was Baata, and I was like, and I in the morning I called her, she's like, No, it was a mistake.
- 5:43Carmen Lezeth: I'm so sorry.
- 5:44Carmen Lezeth: I was like, what's going on?
- 5:47Carmen Lezeth: I didn't believe her.
- 5:48Carmen Lezeth: Because you know me.
- 5:53Carmen Lezeth: Anybody calls them like hello, you know, like who's on the list, you know.
- 5:56Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, but um, well, let's just talk about Alex, uh pretty.
- 6:03Carmen Lezeth: I'm acting like I know him, but I just feel like he's a neighbor, he's a person, he's a human being, and it's just more emblematic.
- 6:14Andrea: Caring man.
- 6:16Andrea: But even if he wasn't, like that was the even if he wasn't.
- 6:22Carmen Lezeth: Even if he wasn't, let's say he was a shit guy who was just mean to people and gruff and whatever, but still out there, you know, trying to do his protesting or his thing or whatever.
- 6:34Carmen Lezeth: We we don't assassinate people in this country for protesting.
- 6:39Andrea: I well, he wasn't even protesting.
- 6:43Andrea: That's not, I mean, like they're not even protesting, they're out there protecting their neighbors and their neighborhoods.
- 6:48Andrea: Right.
- 6:48Andrea: It's not like they're up there with signs or whatever.
- 6:50Andrea: They're you know, there are masked thugs coming through the streets of our cities.
- 6:56Andrea: Yeah, yeah, kidnapping people.
- 7:00Carmen Lezeth: I um so there's another video that's come out uh that was 10 days before.
- 7:06Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if you've seen this yet.
- 7:07Carmen Lezeth: You probably haven't.
- 7:08Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 7:09Carmen Lezeth: Of course I did.
- 7:09Carmen Lezeth: You have seen it?
- 7:10Andrea: Two o'clock in the morning.
- 7:11Andrea: What?
- 7:12Andrea: What no?
- 7:14Andrea: I was just joking that I probably saw it last night while I was doom scrolling, but yes, I have seen it.
- 7:18Carmen Lezeth: All right, right.
- 7:18Carmen Lezeth: So on January 13th, there was an altercation with um Alex Predi and ICE agents, and he actually kicked one of their cars, and the light of the like the back light or whatever came off, and the agent comes running out, and there's an altercation between them.
- 7:36Carmen Lezeth: And so now, you know, uh people like Donald Trump uh are reposting things like, oh, pretty aggressive guy.
- 7:44Carmen Lezeth: We we still don't kill people in the United States for we this idea that you guys need just, and I say you guys, you guys who keep um supporting this fucktard is in this whole situation.
- 7:59Carmen Lezeth: Um yeah, and I know, I know I shouldn't have said fucktard, but I'm saying it because I'm so tired of the bullshittery.
- 8:07Carmen Lezeth: I you know, like you keep seeing these polls, they're like he's really underwater, 30% approved.
- 8:13Carmen Lezeth: I'm like, the 30, 30?
- 8:15Carmen Lezeth: Like, what are you talking about?
- 8:17Carmen Lezeth: Like, I want people.
- 8:19Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I'm like, why is anyone still supporting this bullshittery?
- 8:25Andrea: Yeah.
- 8:25Andrea: Yeah, no, I mean, I think you make a really good point, you know, what you were saying before.
- 8:31Andrea: Like, it doesn't matter, like, yes, it's it's nice to hear what a good person he was, and we should honor that, and you know, all the work that he did and all of those things, right?
- 8:40Andrea: Truly, he could have just finished robbing a liquor store, right?
- 8:44Andrea: Like, you know, you you still don't like assassinate or you know, execute a man down on the ground, already subdued, and shoot him in the back.
- 8:53Andrea: You just don't do it.
- 8:54Andrea: Can we talk about that part too?
- 8:56Carmen Lezeth: Here's my thing.
- 8:58Carmen Lezeth: Again, let's just pretend he is this crazed person or whatever.
- 9:04Carmen Lezeth: There was five other guys on him.
- 9:07Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand.
- 9:09Carmen Lezeth: Like, if you want to know the definition of a fucking wuss, I am confused.
- 9:15Carmen Lezeth: There are five people on one guy, and you still think it's important for to take out a gun.
- 9:23Carmen Lezeth: I I think this is what's killing me about the whole thing.
- 9:26Carmen Lezeth: Is it's this pretend bravado and this pretend strength and this pretend I am in charge, I'm a man, I'm a this, I'm and it's this whole administration, Stephen Miller, all of them.
- 9:41Carmen Lezeth: Marco Ruby, all the day I was watching something.
- 9:43Carmen Lezeth: I swear to God, if I could have jumped through the screen and slapped the shit out of him, I would have done it myself.
- 9:47Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 9:48Carmen Lezeth: Like I was like, stop it.
- 9:50Carmen Lezeth: And Jaya, all of these people are fucking losers, and they've gotten the opportunity to be in charge, and they're fucking crazy.
- 10:01Andrea: Yeah, well, I mean, it just it really shows what cowards they actually are, and how you know how little courage they they truly have.
- 10:13Andrea: I mean, sure, before any of this, before any of this, when you would see those uh videos or pictures of you know the dudes walking around in like a Walmart with their long guns and you know, you just look at that and you're like, what are you so fucking scared of?
- 10:34Andrea: Why are you such a scared little bitch that you have to walk around with a fucking long gun to go get you know a head of lettuce?
- 10:43Carmen Lezeth: Like a head of lettuce, right?
- 10:45Carmen Lezeth: Or order your McDonald's.
- 10:48unknown: Right.
- 10:49Andrea: And this is just that, but you know, exponentially more and now targeting and actually murdering us in the streets.
- 11:00Carmen Lezeth: It's just such a weird, it's not even a weird time.
- 11:05Carmen Lezeth: I guess if you could look back, you could see the trajectory of how this would go, and the hope would be that Americans were better than this and would be smarter than this, but clearly we're not, so here we are, you know.
- 11:18Andrea: Um yeah, I mean, some of us are.
- 11:21Andrea: I know, but it's not enough of us.
- 11:23Andrea: I mean, well, I know.
- 11:24Andrea: What I'm saying is, you know, going back to a couple of episodes, maybe it was last week, I don't know.
- 11:30Andrea: You know, you asked me what's giving me hope, and I said, the people of of Minneapolis, of the Twin Cities, you know, what they've put together.
- 11:38Andrea: And I think, you know, it's I I stand by that, right?
- 11:44Andrea: It's still, it's not enough people, but it is something that shows that, you know, this they are showing us what the promise of America, what the promise of the United States actually is.
- 12:00Andrea: It's us coming together, it's us fighting for each other, it's us honoring the diversity of our of our neighbors and and things like that.
- 12:09Andrea: And, you know, yeah, you're right.
- 12:11Andrea: It's not enough people.
- 12:12Andrea: Like it's it's still shocking to me that millions.
- 12:14Carmen Lezeth: I mean, like I I've said this before, and it's not like I just I'm just shook at how we've taken all of this for granted, and that's why we're here, right?
- 12:23Carmen Lezeth: Because if everybody who is eligible to vote, even if like 80% of people voted, we wouldn't be in this situation because most people would not have voted for this asshole.
- 12:34Carmen Lezeth: But that's not what happened.
- 12:36Carmen Lezeth: And I I know, I listen, you can send me as many motherfucking emails as you want.
- 12:40Carmen Lezeth: I'm gonna call him whatever the fuck I want because I'm sick and tired of this shit.
- 12:44Carmen Lezeth: I've gotten a couple emails of people being like, you need to respect the press.
- 12:47Carmen Lezeth: No, I don't.
- 12:48Carmen Lezeth: He is not respecting the people of this country, he is not respecting human beings and life.
- 12:54Andrea: No, there is no universe in which that man deserves even a milligram of respect for and all of his cronies, all of his dumbass motherfucking cronies and enablers or whatever.
- 13:07Carmen Lezeth: So, yeah, I don't care.
- 13:08Carmen Lezeth: Again, you do not need to watch this show.
- 13:11Carmen Lezeth: This is there, you're not being forced to watch a show like some people are being forced to go see the movie Melania.
- 13:19Carmen Lezeth: You like that segue.
- 13:22Carmen Lezeth: What a segue.
- 13:25Carmen Lezeth: So, did did did you buy your ticket?
- 13:27Carmen Lezeth: Because I know you were excited.
- 13:30Andrea: That's my family outing on the a Friday night.
- 13:32Andrea: We're gonna be first in line.
- 13:35Carmen Lezeth: So I okay, I just want to say a couple things.
- 13:39Carmen Lezeth: I was like, you know what?
- 13:41Carmen Lezeth: If it's gonna be a movie about who she is or something, I ain't gonna be mad about that.
- 13:47Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 13:48Carmen Lezeth: Like, okay, whatever.
- 13:49Carmen Lezeth: It's not, it's a movie about the the 20 days before this inauguration.
- 13:55Carmen Lezeth: I'm like, no, honey, I wanted information on you in the Epstein files.
- 14:01Carmen Lezeth: Like, you know what I mean?
- 14:01Carmen Lezeth: I wanted to hear about your modeling career.
- 14:06Andrea: Yeah, let's talk about how you immigrated to the United States.
- 14:10Carmen Lezeth: How did you get to the United States, girl?
- 14:13Carmen Lezeth: Talk about them naked pictures.
- 14:15Carmen Lezeth: What that's about.
- 14:16Carmen Lezeth: Is that really you?
- 14:17Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 14:18Carmen Lezeth: Or or here's the other thing, and and and this one is really one that I know this sounds weird, and I'm not even trying to be sarcastic.
- 14:26Carmen Lezeth: I was like, maybe she's going to finally talk about all of the languages she speaks.
- 14:33Carmen Lezeth: So let me just give you guys a list of all the languages we have been told she has said that she speaks.
- 14:40Carmen Lezeth: Slovenian, Slovanian?
- 14:43Carmen Lezeth: Slovenian, I think.
- 14:44Carmen Lezeth: Slovenian, English, barely, French, Italian, German, Serbian.
- 14:50Carmen Lezeth: Okay.
- 14:51Carmen Lezeth: So I scoured the internet to find anything of verifiable information of her speaking any of these other languages.
- 15:03Carmen Lezeth: She only speaks um Slovenian.
- 15:06Carmen Lezeth: I hope I'm saying that right.
- 15:08Carmen Lezeth: Um, and there's recorded speaking with her family in English.
- 15:12Carmen Lezeth: There is no public evidence at all that she speaks French, Italian, German, and Serbian.
- 15:19Carmen Lezeth: Now, the reason why I bring this up is because then I put in Pete Buttig, right?
- 15:24Carmen Lezeth: Pete Budej, whether you like him or not, he is a remarkable human being.
- 15:29Carmen Lezeth: He speaks, and there's evidence.
- 15:32Carmen Lezeth: You can just go and Google Spanish, Norwegian, Italian, French, Maltese, Arabic, Dari.
- 15:39Carmen Lezeth: I don't even know what Dari is.
- 15:41Carmen Lezeth: I don't either.
- 15:42Carmen Lezeth: And he speaks them, you know, like he he talks about how he speaks some of them conversationally and some of them how he just he can get by.
- 15:49Carmen Lezeth: And I'm like, Lord, even Ben Affleck, you can find Ben Affleck speaking fluent Spanish.
- 15:56Andrea: Ben Affleck is a whole new man when he is speaking Spanish.
- 15:59Andrea: Also, I'm like, oh Ben.
- 16:01Andrea: Oh, now I see.
- 16:02Carmen Lezeth: Now I see what everyone sees.
- 16:04Carmen Lezeth: But in English, I'm like, you're such a dud, Ben.
- 16:07Carmen Lezeth: I say this because the movie is getting panned.
- 16:14Carmen Lezeth: I mean, there's no ticket sales, whatever.
- 16:16Carmen Lezeth: Um, I think there was a post.
- 16:18Carmen Lezeth: I was trying to verify if it was true because I don't know, but it was on the truth social thing, and it was Donald Trump saying that it's going to be required history watching for all students.
- 16:28Carmen Lezeth: And I was like, are you out of your mind?
- 16:32Andrea: This was in a propaganda class.
- 16:34Andrea: Yeah.
- 16:35unknown: Propaganda class.
- 16:38Andrea: The same way we watched uh, what's her name?
- 16:40Andrea: Lenny, the propaganda lady for Hitler.
- 16:44Carmen Lezeth: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 16:45Carmen Lezeth: And what's so sad is that she was a remarkable filmmaker.
- 16:48Carmen Lezeth: You know, she was an actor beforehand, and then voila.
- 16:51Carmen Lezeth: So let me just give you some of the criticism because I'm sure you're gonna be surprised and shocked.
- 16:56Carmen Lezeth: So you're sitting, right?
- 16:58Carmen Lezeth: You're sitting.
- 16:59Carmen Lezeth: Bland, filtered, overpolished, a struggle to watch.
- 17:03Carmen Lezeth: Um I'm sorry.
- 17:07Carmen Lezeth: I just like the film became a lightning rod because of its release moment and the political climate.
- 17:14Carmen Lezeth: Some critics argue the backlash is also a symbol, it's much about the symbolism as the filmmaking.
- 17:21Carmen Lezeth: I think one of the biggest things is that reports from the crew describe a chaotic production.
- 17:27Carmen Lezeth: A lot of them are regretting that their names are on it.
- 17:30Andrea: I was like, Yeah, I read that, but people asked for their names not to be on the well, and it was directed by Brett Ratner, who is very credibly uh accused of sexual assault by two well-known actresses.
- 17:46Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I thought you were gonna talk about all the other movies he's done.
- 17:48Carmen Lezeth: I was like, oh my god, yeah, he's been accused of that.
- 17:51Carmen Lezeth: Well, that here's the thing.
- 17:52Carmen Lezeth: I know this sounds like I'm that doesn't surprise me because everyone in this administration I mean, well, I know, like it's the it's the MO.
- 17:59Carmen Lezeth: Put all the predators together, right?
- 18:02Carmen Lezeth: But and and that's probably why we're never gonna hear anything about the Epstein Files.
- 18:07Carmen Lezeth: And when I say never, I mean um in this administration, because I think eventually it will come out.
- 18:13Carmen Lezeth: Don't you think so?
- 18:14Carmen Lezeth: The Epstein Files will eventually all come out.
- 18:16Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, probably when we're all dead.
- 18:18Carmen Lezeth: Anyways, yeah.
- 18:21Carmen Lezeth: So I'm not gonna go see the Melania film, but I do want to the reason why I want to talk about it is uh a couple things.
- 18:27Carmen Lezeth: This really was not about a movie.
- 18:29Carmen Lezeth: Anybody, so I live here in Hollywood, so does an Andrea.
- 18:32Carmen Lezeth: We know Hollywood people, we've worked in this industry, we get it inside out.
- 18:36Carmen Lezeth: There is nobody of any credibility would actually believe this is an actual film being made to make any money anywhere.
- 18:44Carmen Lezeth: This was all about funneling money to people in that world.
- 18:49Carmen Lezeth: That's what this was about.
- 18:51Carmen Lezeth: Amazon gave, I think, 75 million just to make this documentary bullshit, which I bet could have been better with an iPhone and somebody just following her dumbass around.
- 19:02Carmen Lezeth: And then another 40 million was spent in advertising, and there are no ticket sales.
- 19:08Carmen Lezeth: There's like one in Australia during the premium.
- 19:11Andrea: Yeah, I was watching something, I can't remember what it was, but I saw and I hadn't even heard about it.
- 19:17Andrea: I truly had not even heard about it, and I saw uh, you know, a T a commercial on TV, and I was like, I first I thought it was like a joke.
- 19:26Andrea: Like, is this like a Saturday Night Live thing?
- 19:28Andrea: Like, right.
- 19:29Carmen Lezeth: It did look like a joke because she's like, everybody wants to know.
- 19:33Carmen Lezeth: I'm like, bitch, we want to know the everything files.
- 19:38Carmen Lezeth: That is what she says in the thing in the trailer.
- 19:42Andrea: Okay, look, you know what?
- 19:43Andrea: This may be controversial, but like honestly, like I really don't care about almost any first lady or spot.
- 19:49Andrea: Like, I don't need to hear your story.
- 19:51Andrea: I don't.
- 19:51Andrea: I don't.
- 19:52Andrea: I like you know, maybe if you've done some things, okay, sure.
- 19:57Andrea: But if you haven't, that's fine too.
- 19:59Andrea: Like, go do your thing.
- 20:01Andrea: Like, I don't want to necessarily hear about any of them.
- 20:04Andrea: That's not a need that I have, I guess is what I should say.
- 20:07Carmen Lezeth: Well, definitely not the first the 10, 20 days before the inauguration.
- 20:12Carmen Lezeth: Like exactly.
- 20:14Andrea: Like, what?
- 20:15Andrea: Why why would anyone care about that?
- 20:18Andrea: Everybody wants to know.
- 20:20Carmen Lezeth: Everybody wants to know what she says.
- 20:22Carmen Lezeth: I was like, bitch, please.
- 20:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 20:26Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 20:26Carmen Lezeth: Listen, it it could have been an interesting thing, but it's not.
- 20:33Andrea: Yeah, it could have been an interesting thing if there was any actual like you know, story to it.
- 20:38Andrea: If it wasn't necessarily, you know, like you know, a propaganda piece, but that's not but can you imagine?
- 20:47Carmen Lezeth: Like, I mean, uh if you if if she was talking about like how she came to this country, or if she's talking about her modeling, I'm doing quotes, uh, modeling career, or she talked about her relationship with the Donald.
- 21:02Carmen Lezeth: Like, it would have been amazing.
- 21:05Carmen Lezeth: But you know, Donald right now has a different relationship with Nicki Minaj.
- 21:09Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, I don't know if you heard about that, right?
- 21:12Carmen Lezeth: I did, yeah.
- 21:13Carmen Lezeth: She, I think she paid for that to to have a um to have a visa, right?
- 21:19Carmen Lezeth: She's now like a US, she paid the golden ticket or whatever that is.
- 21:24Carmen Lezeth: I don't know enough about it.
- 21:25Carmen Lezeth: I'll put it at the bottom, but yeah, that's what that was about.
- 21:30Andrea: So weird.
- 21:31Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, her and Snoop have been like just completely everything.
- 21:35Andrea: Is so gross right now.
- 21:36Andrea: Everything is so gross, right?
- 21:38Andrea: Like everywhere you turn, you're like, Ew.
- 21:42Andrea: Ew.
- 21:43Carmen Lezeth: Ew.
- 21:43Carmen Lezeth: It's gross and and or or heartbreaking.
- 21:47Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 21:48Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 21:49Carmen Lezeth: All right.
- 21:50Carmen Lezeth: How can we end on an up note?
- 21:52Carmen Lezeth: What you got?
- 21:53Carmen Lezeth: What you got from me?
- 21:55Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, what do I have?
- 21:57Carmen Lezeth: You were supposed to come up with it because you don't want to talk about Hallmark no more.
- 22:01Andrea: I know.
- 22:01Andrea: I've been okay.
- 22:02Andrea: I'll just tell you what I've been watching a lot of uh history documentaries.
- 22:07Andrea: No, that's not fun.
- 22:09Andrea: Who cares?
- 22:10Andrea: By who?
- 22:12Andrea: Well, just kind of whatever it can, you know.
- 22:16Andrea: Like they have the American Revolution one that's on PBS.
- 22:22Carmen Lezeth: It's good.
- 22:23Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure look at I wish more people would watch actual documentaries by what's his name?
- 22:30Carmen Lezeth: You know who I'm talking about.
- 22:32Andrea: Ken Burns.
- 22:32Andrea: Yes, he did the American Revolution.
- 22:34Andrea: That's his, that's one of his.
- 22:36Carmen Lezeth: Right.
- 22:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying, when I say wait, when I said fun, I don't think anyone's gonna think that's fun.
- 22:42Andrea: It's fun for me.
- 22:43Andrea: I watched one on Henry VIII yesterday and I learned a lot.
- 22:48Carmen Lezeth: I'm not a period peace person, although these are documentaries, so it's very different.
- 22:54Andrea: I am a period peace person.
- 22:55Andrea: That's my other comfort thing, is like British period pieces.
- 22:59Andrea: I know.
- 22:59Andrea: But uh, but I've been in my documentary phase these days.
- 23:04Carmen Lezeth: But you know what?
- 23:05Carmen Lezeth: The reason why I don't like American period pieces, I'm just gonna say it that way.
- 23:08Carmen Lezeth: Can you guess why I don't like them?
- 23:10Carmen Lezeth: Uh yeah.
- 23:11Carmen Lezeth: Do you want to show there's no people of color?
- 23:16Carmen Lezeth: Even that there's no people of color, it's I know where I would be if I was in like I can't relate.
- 23:24Carmen Lezeth: I can't relate to it because I'm like, I wouldn't be on the prairie on a horse and lifting my husband and children, and you know what I mean?
- 23:32Carmen Lezeth: I'd be the house slave, probably, because I have light skin, you know what I mean?
- 23:38Carmen Lezeth: Like, I'm just saying that's that's oh my god, that's depressing.
- 23:42Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:43Carmen Lezeth: I know it's everyone's always like Jane Austen and all these things, and I'm like, yeah, I can't relate, can't relate at all.
- 23:49Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and then when I think it was Shandra Rhyme, she came out with Bridgerton, and people like it because it's kind of like I can see the whole like kind of like the Hamilton thing, right?
- 24:00Carmen Lezeth: Lynn Manuel Murray, who did Hamilton, and it's all people of color, and it kind of changes it.
- 24:06Carmen Lezeth: I still couldn't get into Bridgerton, though I I did watch the first season and understood the brilliance of it, you know.
- 24:12Carmen Lezeth: But uh, but but I think that's what it is, yeah.
- 24:15Carmen Lezeth: So but even um I I mean I like watching history because it makes you know, history channel Ken Burns documentaries because it's so much easier to understand.
- 24:28Carmen Lezeth: And he is brilliant.
- 24:29Carmen Lezeth: Ken Burns is one of the most brilliant filmmakers of our time, but you know, it's it's not my joy.
- 24:35Carmen Lezeth: I love that you're doing it just for fun.
- 24:37Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 24:38Carmen Lezeth: Like, I love it.
- 24:42Andrea: I do, yeah.
- 24:42Andrea: I mean, and they're kind of hard to find.
- 24:45Andrea: So I have kind of come, I haven't done it yet, but I may have to get like the pay for the PBS extract.
- 24:52Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I have it.
- 24:53Carmen Lezeth: You can have a um, I I because I donated to PBAS.
- 24:57Carmen Lezeth: Yes, I did, and when you donate, you get an automatic membership.
- 25:00Carmen Lezeth: Okay, we'll talk afterwards.
- 25:01Carmen Lezeth: I'll give you the thing.
- 25:02Carmen Lezeth: Because I don't I don't really watch it at all.
- 25:04Carmen Lezeth: Because all of their stuff is either British or um period pieces stuff or history stuff.
- 25:11Carmen Lezeth: Well, and they have all the cooking shows, which I which you know how much I love those.
- 25:18Andrea: But their their cooking shows are actually very good, high-quality cooking shows.
- 25:23Carmen Lezeth: I'm I'm sure they are.
- 25:25Carmen Lezeth: So look at we can end on that note.
- 25:29Carmen Lezeth: It's a short show today, but we are both in that space, and I think this is good.
- 25:35Carmen Lezeth: Do you have any hopes for the upcoming week?
- 25:38Carmen Lezeth: Maybe we can do I have any hopes for you doing anything great this week, you know.
- 25:44Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 25:45Andrea: No, girl, I am not.
- 25:47Andrea: Uh I got nothing for you.
- 25:48Andrea: Sorry.
- 25:49Andrea: I mean, I have I have hopes that uh, you know, Democrats don't blow it and use some of this momentum to get some real uh restrictions on DHS funding.
- 25:59Andrea: That's my big hope, but I won't, you know, I just made calls to both my senators right before this.
- 26:04Andrea: So we'll see what happens.
- 26:06Andrea: Yeah.
- 26:07Carmen Lezeth: By the way, Ted Lou, my congressman, had a town hall.
- 26:11Carmen Lezeth: And I did make the phone call.
- 26:14Carmen Lezeth: And you're right, we should be doing everything we can from the comfort of our home and also make sure you register to vote.
- 26:20Carmen Lezeth: All of these things are very important.
- 26:22Carmen Lezeth: And get other people who haven't voted, registered, get other people involved.
- 26:27Carmen Lezeth: Unless they're die hard Trump supporters who come to fuck alone.
- 26:32Carmen Lezeth: That's all.
- 26:32Carmen Lezeth: You know, so with that said, everyone, thank you so much for hanging out with us.
- 26:36Carmen Lezeth: We'll see you again next week.
- 26:38Carmen Lezeth: And remember, at the end of the day, it really is all about the joy.
- 26:40Carmen Lezeth: Bye, everyone.
- 26:42Carmen Lezeth: Bye.
- 26:43Carmen Lezeth: Thanks for stopping by, All About the Joy.
- 26:49Carmen Lezeth: Be better and stay beautiful, folks.
- 26:51Carmen Lezeth: Have a sweet day.
