- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Batty in Progress podcast.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm super excited for this episode because I feel like there's a lot of mindset and identity stuff in this episode, and I feel like a lot of people struggle with this part of their fitness journey, and I feel like it'll be very helpful for you guys.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: I personally feel that this always ends up being like the hardest part about your fitness journey because it has a lot to do with you know staying disciplined and staying consistent.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I feel like what ends up keeping you consistent at the end of the day is what's going on in your mind, and that's pretty much what we're gonna be talking about today.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, I feel like I need another tea.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: I literally sat down to record this and have my hot coffee.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I drank it all, and I still feel my throat just not fully there.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's because I teach like every single day, so I feel like my voice is shot by the time I start recording or making content or anything.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Anyways, um, today's podcast is all around the idea of doing the things that you said that you were gonna do.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Um, I feel like a lot of our confidence stems from this idea specifically.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And it's also one that I have struggled with in the past.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: I feel like, I mean, I don't know.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I still feel like I struggle with this when it comes to other areas of my life, but definitely not in fitness.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I feel like with fitness, I pretty much do the things that I said I was gonna do.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: I may not be perfect in other areas of my life, but at least in fitness, I am, and I feel like once you start getting it down in one area of your life, it does kind of start to trickle into the rest of your life, which is good.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Um, am I fully there yet?
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: No, but I will be, and you can be too.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: But let's talk about what happens when you don't do the things that you said you were gonna do.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: If you don't do the things that you said you were gonna do, you give your words less meaning.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: And by that I mean if you say things and then you don't follow through, then you're no longer gonna believe in yourself.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: And other people are not gonna believe in you either.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: This is gonna make you lose confidence in yourself and in your ability to get things done.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: I see this all the time in women that apply to work with me.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Whenever we have a call and I explain the program to them, and they seem very excited, but then they end up saying at the end, like they don't think that they can do it.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: I ask them, Well, why don't you think you can do it?
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: And a lot of the times they respond with, Well, it's because I've tried being consistent before and it's never worked.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: And I asked them, Well, why do you think that is?
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: And I'm thinking about a client in particular who literally told me it kind of broke my heart when she told me this, but she literally said, I know myself and I do these kinds of things.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I always get so motivated to start something, and then I just always quit.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And then I told her, Well, my program is literally designed to help you through this kind of issue, this kind of confidence and identity issue that you have right now.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And she didn't really know what I was talking about, but I walked her through it just like I'm about to walk you through it right now.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: The reason why people get scared and don't think that they can do certain things that stems from years of them not doing the things that they said they were gonna do, by not following through on things that they out loud had said to themselves or to other people.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And this literally just comes from little daily things that you say you're gonna do and you don't do.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: For example, if I say I'm gonna get all my laundry done today, but then I don't do it, and I just leave it off for like the weekend, that's gonna lower my confidence a little bit.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: You don't really think that in the moment when that happens, but it does.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: And the reason why is because you're not following through.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: You're not following through, and so that is making your words have less meaning.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: When you feel like your words have less meaning, then you start to lose that confidence in your ability to get things done.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Because your words don't mean anything, and everything that you say that you're gonna do on a daily basis, but you don't do impacts that.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: So when this client was telling me that she doesn't believe in herself enough to do it, that was really sad.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: She was showing that she has no confidence in herself, and it, you know, like I said, it broke my heart.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: But like I said, my program is designed to help women exactly like her.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: I'm like, yeah, you are joining a fitness program, but it's not even just about fitness, it's about building your confidence.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: And I don't mean just confidence in the way that you look, I mean confidence in your ability to follow through on things because it ends up trickling into all other areas of your life if you're really thinking about it.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: If you really are a confident person in one area, it starts to trickle into the rest of the other areas.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: For example, for me, my confidence started to develop when I became more consistent with my fitness, and that was because of my ability to follow through on my fitness journey.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: My confidence in my physique and the way that I look and feel came from my consistency in the gym.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: So it came from my confidence in my consistency.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: That confidence in my body made me more confident in the way that I show up in the world because now I don't really feel the need to hide anymore.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: I feel like I can be out there, I can be loud, and I won't really care about what other people think.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so that's just a couple ways, and the way that your confidence in one area layers on.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: And this is why you don't think about it, but the things that you do on a daily basis and your ability to follow through on them really do have a huge impact in you and how you show up in the world and what you think about yourself.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: I know that it's so easy to just be lazy.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Like, trust me, I would much rather be laying on the couch watching TV than going to the gym.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Trust me.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Like, I am not somebody who's like, yeah, I'm gonna go to the gym today.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna be so excited, I'm gonna have so much fun there.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: I love this.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Like, no, I'm not always motivated to go to the gym.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Actually, I'm for the most part never fucking motivated ever.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I'm always tired, I'm always lazy, but I still go, anyways.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: This client that I was talking about, by the way, poor thing, she had spent years of not doing the things that she said she was gonna do, and so ultimately her confidence was shot, right?
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: She did not believe she could do the hard things, but luckily she became a client and is now getting the results of her dreams.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: But I don't blame her for her old habits.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, most people live their lives this way.
- 8:48SPEAKER_00: But let me ask you something.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: Do you want to be like most people?
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Do you want to be average?
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: Because personally, I don't.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I hold myself to a pretty high standard.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Am I perfect?
- 9:04SPEAKER_00: Hell the fuck, no.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: No, definitely not.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Do I have everything figured out?
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: No.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: But I will say, I'm the kind of person who tries to make myself 1% better every single day.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Because guess what?
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: At the end of the day, who has to live with you?
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: You do, and you should be happy in your own skin because life is fucking short, and I'm not gonna spend my life being unhappy in my skin.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: I don't want to spend my youth being insecure in my body.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: I don't want to spend my old age rotting on a bed.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: I want to be old and still work out and go to the gym, go for long walks.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: I want to spend my old age being healthy.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: I don't want to spend my old age being in a wheelchair.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: And I know accidents happen and you can't really, you know, expect perfect health all the time.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: But you can do your best to control your health right now, especially now that you're young.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: I understand that things happen.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, my mom passed away from cancer.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: I get it.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: But you can do your best.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: You have more control over your health and your physique than you realize.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: Have you ever heard of free will?
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Because yeah, that shit exists.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: How about instead of using your free will to go do dumb shit, you use your free will to get your dream body?
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: Do the things you said you were gonna do.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Because this is how you actually create discipline.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: I've had people tell me all the time, like, I just don't have enough motivation, I just don't have enough discipline.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: How do you do it?
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: I just do the things that I said I was gonna do.
- 11:11SPEAKER_00: That is how I stay quote unquote disciplined.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: Because I don't always want to go to the gym.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I don't like most of the time, I don't want to go, but I do it because I said I was gonna do it.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: I do it because I actually want my dream body, I want it, and that's why I do it, and honestly, thank God for that mentality because my results have been resulting as of late.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: I have been trying to grow my glutes, and girl, like let me just say I'm very happy with the results so far.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: Old me would not be as excited for summer as I am right now.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I hope that the next time that you feel like you don't have enough motivation or you don't have enough discipline to be on your fitness journey and get the results that you're dreaming of, that you just do it anyway.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Because that's how you get results, not by following how the fuck you feel right now, how you feel lazy, how you feel unmotivated, how you feel blah blah blah, whatever the excuses.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: By doing it anyway.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: Do the damn thing that you said you were gonna do.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: That is all I have for you today.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Um, I hope you enjoyed this episode.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: I hope you learned something from it.

- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Bye.
