- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's bomb mom and we got the discount code before we changed our
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: podcast about life, but they're amazing.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_00]: Nates incredible the owner.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: We've had him on several times.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's time we have him back, too.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_00]: But that is where I get, like my protein from my creatine.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: I love his brand new sleep gummies.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like everything is just spot on and he was one of the donating contributors to our big gift basket to our winner.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: So lots of changes happening.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_00]: We're wrapping that up.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: May was an insane month.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: it really was.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_00]: I know we're more into like Juneau, but I feel like I'm still kind of recovering from me.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: And I know some of you might be feeling that way too.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: And like, I'm finally in the summer, but I don't want you to let your foot off the gas pedal.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to keep moving forward.

- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: So remember, you don't have to do this alone at all.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Now, today's guest is Becca Roses.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_00]: I love her name.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: I love her the moment she came on.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: And she is the founder of MindBody Jeans.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: So after today's episode, again, it's going to light a fire under your butt and you're going to want to find out more about yourself.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: She is the founder and CEO of MindBaddy Jeans and she's an epigenetics educator.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_00]: She's a wellness expert and she's certified in epigenetics human performance coaching and she's passionate about helping other people unlock their health, their fitness,
- 5:10[SPEAKER_00]: Jean Blueprint.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: You guys, this is so cool.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: We've never talked about this on this podcast before.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: So insightful because your genes are everything and she experienced her own challenges with her health and burnout and that's what led her to develop this company, to be able to use our genetic code, to figure out what foods do you eat, what supplements should you be taking,
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: She's shared some very interesting information about like saturated fat for her like it is the devil like it is not What she should be consuming at all and avoid it and I just find it very interesting that she knows that now about herself Whereas like for me it might be totally fine, but she found this out through understanding her genetics and where they
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: why and what her strong suit is, what isn't and now she helps other people do that through her company and she has helped countless people better understand how their genes influence the way they think, they feel, they recover, they perform everything and she's also the creator of the gene queen certification where she trains wellness professionals.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: to dive into their clients and coach and improve their their coaching and their client work with this as well.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: So her approach.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's she doesn't believe your genes are your destiny and we do have control and I love that and the more of a deeper understanding you have of yourself what's going on in the inside.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: The more it's going to help you be able to prove everything on the outside as well and we say this in the podcast But I thought it was just a really good point to just bring it up again Is that before you do anything like this the solid foundation that you need to have is your food Eating clean it is your workouts moving your body being active.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even mean like going to the gym yet like we just need a start
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: a baby stop in the right direction.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: You want that foundation first and then let things like this help and build on that, but foundation is key.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: Alrighty, one.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Go to the show notes, check everything out, and enjoy the show.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, girl, I'm excited to talk about this before we hit record.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: I was telling Becca, we've never talked about genes and genetics like this on the show before.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, revergence to this topic.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: So, it's fighting.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: I have to know, because you're the founder of mine body genes at the genetics.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying that word right, right?
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: you're an epigenetics educator, a wellness expert, like, grow you do it all.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I got to find out, Becca's a mom of three.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel you on the world of three kids, and it feels like 3,000.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: It does feel like 3,000 honestly.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like they'll see anything over three doesn't feel like that, but I'm not willing to give that a try.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I was good at three.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm good there.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: Good there.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they say like two is like 200, which is totally true.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's it's a lot in the three.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because you're like from one to two is totally doubling.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, okay, well, now I have to like be, you know, one on one.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: like offense or whatever.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_00]: But I love everything that you do and how you help women use like genetics in simple ways to like figure out what's going on with nervous system support your health, even food.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: You dive into this even with like your food and nutrition.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's crazy.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's too, which is like right up your alley.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: We dive into it with exercise and fitness too.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: You
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: term out to like, oh, it's just my genes.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it's my genetics.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think they really understand what they're saying and how much things really do play a role in it or vice versa.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: They don't realize how much that doesn't really have anything to do with it.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Is there an educated, you don't know what you're talking about?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm curious back.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: I like how did this become what you do?
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: Have you always been in this field from the beginning?
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great question.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's so funny.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of stumbled into this through my own health journey, which a lot of us can relate to like.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, I need our passions through something in our lives that let us there.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Um, this short version of a girl from girl to girl version is I after I had my kids after I had my daughter She's my last one.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: I for the first time slowed down in my life like I was in a high I powered like high, you know, hours per week career.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: I was Family like working late nights working weekends opening locations training staff my background was in
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: learning a development, training and hospitality.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was not in nutrition.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I studied food and wine and college.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: I studied all the things I studied how it interact with our body, but it wasn't a traditional nutrition degree.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so like fast forward, it's like funny when you hindsight, you look back at stuff and you're like, right, yeah, that led me here.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I slow down for the first time in like a decade.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: or more probably the decades of our honest and my body started talking to me.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was like okay girl like you just you went through the ringer we've been like trying to keep you alive and like supported because you've been just stressed out for like a long time and I was just so tired I had so many symptoms like weight loss resistance.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was just I wasn't feeling like me and I think we can all relate to that at some point you kind of reach this point where like you're telling doctors
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, you get the words of like, your mom, this is how it is.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: You're tired.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're stressed.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like try to do this.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Try to do that.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not helpful in the moment because you're like, but I know myself so well.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: I know that this is not actually how I'm supposed to be feeling, but it's almost like we get gas lit for a while.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then finally, have to be come our own expert.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of what I did.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: I, in in 2020, I received a Hashimoto's diagnosis and I was finally like, okay, this makes sense.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: The answers are there.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I looked at it as a really positive thing.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: And people around me were like, oh my gosh, what do you mean?
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's like an auto-mune.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, isn't that scary?
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, no, because I can heal it.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, this is what I've been waiting for.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: I've been waiting for answers.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I took that into my own hands and I started working with practitioners.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: I started really deep diving into my own health.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like I was like a little bit informed because I had done the whole like, let's switch all our cleaning products over and let's like clean up our house and like, let's do these things that are like, less toxic and all the stuff.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I knew enough to be dangerous, but I didn't know enough to really like, right at.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so that from 2020 to like, you know, 2021, I know this sounds like a really short period of time, but I got so obsessed with everything, I ended up finding somebody that worked in the genetics and epigenetic space and I got my own blueprint done.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: And I realized that all of the generic advice I had been following because of a diagnosis, I have this so you have to do XYZ blanket advice was not right for me because of how I was actually coded and made and I started following my genetic blueprint and I.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm an in-eagram free.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a I don't know what you want to call me manifesting generator.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of things we could say like that's my personality like I'm a Leo like it's just When I when I when I know something's right I'm just like I'm going to go for it.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like I'm going to help people with this.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I actually went back to school in 2020 and studied epigenetics.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_01]: I went through program that was led by a doctor.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, you're in Texas and everything was online at the time because, you know, the world was shut down.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_01]: I like deep dove into it and really just said, you know, if I help a few people with this, it'll be worth it.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Because it changed my life.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I was able to put my Hashimoto's in remission never to reactivate again.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's 2026.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't identify with it anymore.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's honestly like something that happened, you know, years ago, it's not something that, you know, defines me and I, but I feel like it's helped me to help other women who aren't feeling like themselves.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they have a diagnosis.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they don't.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they're just like, I don't feel good.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why I can't do this.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: I can't lose weight.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: You know, feel vibrant.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: I can't have energy.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like what you said earlier was so powerful because coming from somebody who does genes for a living, I'm going to tell you like your genes aren't your destiny.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like you need your blueprint to understand how you're wired, but we have so much control.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: And when we realize that, we can start tapping back into our own intuition.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: And in a world of you can find anything you want on the internet with.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: it's you're inundated women are inundated with do this do that you know try this oh my cousin had so much success with this or my sister did this or you know i i feel great eating nothing but you know veggies oh i feel great eating nothing but meat okay cool what about you like what about your individual needs your
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it really teaches women to look back inside of themselves and get them map.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, get the roadmap for them, get the cheat codes for them, and then do what you will, which is like you said.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Everything that you have control over every day, what you eat, the supplements you take, the movement you do, everything you listen to, your stress relief techniques, your nervous system support hall of it.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, break this down to us for like dummies.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like because when you're talking about your genetics and like your genes, you're talking about like the blueprint of us like what you got from your mom from your dad right.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you're like, yeah, to break it down like super like to dump it down.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's you're looking at your cells, which is through a cheek swab and you're seeing your genetic code.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: So it's literally everything you've inherited from your parents.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's easy.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know, right?
- 14:57[SPEAKER_01]: and like like down the line too.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: And we call them SNPs.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we call them genetic SNPs.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: EAS.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: And we can look at every single variation of that.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the like science e-technical part.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: The really simple way to describe it is we were also uniquely made and set up with a certain set of rules.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: And the rules are not
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're not hard.
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, do you, do you do better with high protein?
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: Do you do better with certain types of man, you know, does your body like to move more endurance based or do you like to move more power and sprint style like based on your muscle fibers?
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: Do you have the likelihood of being deficient in these certain vitamins and then that's something that you're always going to be, you know, needing to take as you're right.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: kind of your foundation will need like you're not broken.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_00]: This is not broken.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're genetic are vitamin D. You're not broken.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: You need more co-lean.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it comes back to that and glad you said that.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so like you're not broken.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's your, it's your makeup.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's your code.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's your user manual.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like when you buy like, let's see, like what's something exciting to buy?
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like a new piece of equipment are like something to like curl your hair with.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like you get.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: a manual.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: You get a booklet.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: It tells you how to use it.
- 16:09[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get that.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: I joke as a mom.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: They give you a baby at the hospital after you're done.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, okay, like, I don't get a user manual.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: I remember having my son.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: I was 23 when I had my oldest and I was like, oh, my god, I'm supposed to go home with this guy and like, care of him and like, I don't even know if I know how to take care of myself.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we've all we've had that moment.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: If there was a user manual, that would be really cool.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: And this is kind of that.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like your own personal user manual.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's your own personalized map for yourself.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: And until then, you're kind of trusting and you're having to filter advice that comes from something other than that, which is just like, I mean, I tried everything.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: I tried.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: Since I was like a teenager you name it like I mean I was like doing all the things like the snack well the atkins like every popularized thing that came out I was doing it and looking back and like that was just searching for things outside of me you know the whole time right.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious why do you think that we're not hearing more about this and like, why isn't this like a common practice of like you're a human you go to a doctor like, oh, did you bring your genetic code with you so we can review this and just like
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, I wish I wish we lived in a world where if you went to the doctor to like get your annual check-up or especially like just talk about like a well-limit exam like most of us probably do that more than we go to like our primary care and we like okay let's go get our pap smear let's go get everything that whatever I wish it was like a common practice but I meet so many doctors and and practitioners who like it's not taught in medical school it's maybe run class it's it's it's brushed over
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: And you'll hear a lot of like, well, I don't believe in that.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't matter, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: But like what we're actually not saying when we talk about like, when people say like the genetics don't matter, they're not realizing that like we're actually talking about epigenetics, which is everything you do to influence those genes.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: So like we all, we were all dealt hands, right?
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like some of us have like a higher propensity towards insulin resistance in our families, in our genes.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: And that's okay.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't mean you were adult bad genes.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: It just means if you're living a lifestyle that supports in sonar resistance and you're not moving and you're eating things that don't support your blood sugar and you're stressed out all the time and you're coping with things that aren't, you know, supporting your body very well, you're drinking heavily, you're doing all these things.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: those genes are like, okay, we know what to do because you're prone to this.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to turn on.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: And we're going to do that.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so people think like, oh, it's just my genes.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's the genes plus what you're doing epigenetically to turn them on.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: And in the same way you can do that, you can turn them off.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't matter if
- 18:55[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm prone towards, you know, some pretty kind of crazy like cognition genes.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: And I've seen it in my family.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen my grandmother like have early onset Alzheimer's and dementia.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: But I know, because I know what my genes are, that I know what to do to prevent that, right?
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: And generations before us didn't know.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: So knowledge truly becomes power in the hands of.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_00]: Interesting.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_01]: Believe very smart women.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't have to have a degree in this to understand it.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I believe.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and it's really cool, too, because, like, as you're talking, I'm listening in like, how many times have we heard women talk or something worked for one person?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: And then it didn't work for another person.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and like this makes sense.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: And what I do and with my clients, I see this all the time.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm constantly reminding women like, look,
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: comparison is the root of all evil.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like you are completely different.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_00]: Every body is different than another, and this I feel like is kind of like a missing piece of that puzzle.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like making things make sense a little bit more that if your genetics are different, which they are, we're all individual, yeah, what worked for her isn't going to work for you.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, you're totally right.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's why some of us stumble upon the right things because you try and have stuff and eventually you're like, Oh, this really did work for me.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then a lot of the times, if you do end up getting a genetic blueprint and you've already found what works for you.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: I have a lot of clients who will be like,
- 20:24[SPEAKER_01]: That's why that works for me because they'll see something on there and it'll say like I'm a really high responder to a low carb diet and I respond with weight loss and it like that's why that works for me, but my husband tries it and he doesn't lose any weight.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, he needs a ton of complex carbs and they correct that's the set up so it's like it can be really confirming it can be really eye opening.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_01]: We see a lot of light bulb moments on the sessions where people are like,
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is why I can't eat charcuterie because I have a really high history and sense of a what you can take things.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not telling you.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the last person to tell you to stop eating charcuterie and drinking wine.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like you do you, but there are tools.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: There's tools.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: If you know your makeup, you can learn how to have the best life.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: I eat
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: I was like gluten-free and dairy-free for years and so miserable and again that works for some people genetically.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't work for me.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: But I was doing it because I was told, oh you have Hashimoto's, you gotta cut it out or it'll inflame you.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: We're looking back to pictures when I was gluten-free and dairy-free, I was 40 pounds heavier, I was inflamed, I was stressed out, I was telling my kids no mom can't have that, no, I was like my nervous system was reacting to the restriction and now knowing deeper what I
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: You don't I don't have the setup to be gluten free or dairy free.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have any of those sensitivities.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: I was eating more junk because I was like, oh, I can't have, you know, just a good quality that we're doing a good quality dairy.
- 21:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to have all the process junk gluten free shit and that's a problem.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: And then my nervous system is like, oh, you're restricting yourself back up.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: And I, so I did an experiment.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, I'm going to eat gluten.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to eat dairy.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to focus on just quality.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I don't have anything that I truly restrict in my life anymore.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I've never been healthier like biomarker-wise, you know, body composition, all of that.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just so funny to do that experiment, because every woman I meet on a session and all of our coaches, who meet with women,
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: most of them come to the table and they are holding on to some sort of something that somebody along the way told them to do or they heard and they're like, but I can't have that or I can't do that.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, why, who told you that?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Or why do you think that?
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: And when we can dig deeper into that, it's so beautiful to see women.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like you can appreciate this.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Come out of their shell.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'd just be like, yeah, I do know myself.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: I could do, I could do this.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like how often do you hear from clients, especially in your lab?
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: Right, they're like,
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, Melissa, like, if I don't, if I can't get in, like, an hour workout, like, it's not even worth it.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, everything counts, like you doing a couple of few push ups and and some, you know, lifting some small weights mean yourself where you're at absolutely counts, but we don't somehow along the way.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_01]: We kind of lost the sense to trust ourselves and also like count the self, right.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, the biggest thing that I get is like, women are like, oh, I could never like lift weights or like I could, you know, they're belief about that like, oh, I could never go into that weight room by myself or I don't like crowds, you know, so that's why I'm not going to go is because I have this issue with crowds and it's just too many people and I'm like, when did you start believing this like in how much it's limiting you.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: Such limiting beliefs that we tell ourselves and then we believe them to be the truth after a while because we've we've said it and Yeah, we're saying it out loud how many times are we saying that in our heads to ourselves.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Seriously.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's not like a thousand times in your head versus the two times that like come out of your actual mouth, you know Yeah, what was the biggest things that you learned about yourself and you were like oh my god, this this makes sense about your genes
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there was quite a few, a lot of it was having to do with the detox pathways.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: So I always thought, like, my issues stemmed from, like, what I was eating.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I, I said the phrases before I could just look at a piece of talk, like, cake and gain, like, 10 pounds.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_01]: That was, like, a part of my narrative for so many years.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I believed that about myself.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: I, I come from a family of five siblings.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: And I was just, like, I don't know why I'm the only one that has issues with this.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: It was just, like,
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: And over, and I kept blaming food, I kept blaming all the things.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I'm doing everything right.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Then I, I dove into my detox pathways and I realized like, I'm just what I am is I'm under supported.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm under supported and I'm under nourished.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: And I was restricting myself to a point of working out really, really hard, you know, I come from like the era of like the, let's go to the gym for two hours.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's have 1200 calories.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Let's not like, like, then we'll be skinny.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was like, it was like, that was an era and we lived it.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: And but even after like that was over, I was carrying a lot of those things around.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: And then looking into my jeans, my phase two deeds talks pathways were really slow.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're really reduced.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so they need a lot of support.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: And so how do you support those things?
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: You slow down.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: You slow down.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: You don't do too much, which is kind of against my personality.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: But once I realized like I needed more of the right micro nutrients,
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I needed a lot more coaline than I thought like I'm what I have one of the highest coaline needs and that wasn't talked about to me at all.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: I pretty sure no doctor ever said like take more coaline.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: Um, a lot of these things were really simple tweaks like getting on the right formula of multivitamin for me, working out became something that I like started to resent because all I was doing was just going really, really hard.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, I need it to be a lot more balanced.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: I needed to incorporate things that really nourished my nervous system.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: My like stress support and nervous system genes are really interesting.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: because I kind of fall in the middle of this, what we call our CMT status, so I kind of fall in the middle and what that means is I can fluctuate.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: So during times of stress, I can become a warrior and like go-go-go and just like white knuckle everything or in times of prolonged stress, I can become that more warrior type where
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: My system is really sensitive.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: I stress out about everything, but I internalize it.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: I ruminate.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: There's genes that can tell us how you behave from an anxiety level.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: And those were really eye-opening for me, because I always struggled with it and didn't know why.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: Why am I so anxious?
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: Why do I have these?
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: And once I was able to pinpoint some genes, I realized it's super important for me to nourish my nervous system and my stress system.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: And so my two hours at the gym became walking every single day in my neighborhood.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_01]: It became lifting weights because I still needed to do that.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: But it wasn't about getting, you know, like,
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: PRs on the leg press anymore, moving my body.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was about doing things that felt joyful and started doing things that felt like a checklist.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: For me, that was a big thing like everything in my wellness journey became a checklist and it became like a, okay, now I got to do this.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: Even my like things that I love, like taking a bath,
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, now I got to take a bath.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: So I can like check that off my list and I was like, whoa, that is like a bad place to be at.
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's got like pretty with such a sensitive detox pathway and nervous system genetically.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's when you know you're holding things too tightly.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: Your body's going to inflame because you're like, what are you doing?
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, what are you doing girl?
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: You're literally like you're not even enjoying your life.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then when I let all that go and started enjoying my life and really like focusing on the joy the happiness the movement like everything that I could do instead of what I couldn't do Literally changed everything Hmm It's I wonder how much I have to do this just so you know
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: like you can do this and then you should come back on and we should go over my results.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_01]: That would be so fun.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_01]: We've done that before on on different podcasts where the host will be like, okay, I'm doing it and then we're going to do like a deep dive at my jeans on the on the podcast and that makes
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, nervous, it like makes me sweat, but like my audience loves it when I'm the guinea pig.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: You kind of feel like you have to be me.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then, yeah, but I just wonder how much I had been able to learn because I'm so aware of my body, like with my cycle and my food and my stomach.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I've had people tell me so many times they're like, you're so in tune with yourself.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_00]: And I wonder how much I've learned, but it'd be nice to know this data too.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: It would be really cool.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_00]: I never heard it before, but and what can confirm.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I miss all the time that are so intuitive.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: They're so good at understanding like what they need.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_01]: They figured it out along the way.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: And those are the people that teach others, which is great, which is why you do it.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but there are parts that make you feel like you're broken.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: I wrote that down in front while you were talking because it's such a powerful message.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_00]: I think all of our listeners need to hear that like there's not something wrong with you.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: You're not broken.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_00]: Your body isn't doing you a disservice.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, and do you want to know like a funny thing to you asked like what was the biggest thing I learned.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: I just remembered this because it's just been so many years, but I have a really poor response to saturated fat and my apos autos sounds crazy.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we can talk about that more.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically a set of genes that tell you like how.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: your body response to saturated fat, but also like age-related condition risks associated with that.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I have a risk allele there, so I have a risk gene.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I realize like I fell into the craze of like the bulletproof coffee, the like high amounts of saturated fat.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not demonizing those.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: Those are great for some people.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: I thought people have a really effective response to saturated fat.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: genetically.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's not me.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: So when I go full bloom keto, when I do butter in my coffee, when I do coconut oil in my coffee every morning and think like, oh, bulletproof, whatever I'm doing, whatever death free.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the worst thing I can do for.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: So when I switched over to just literally doing olive oil instead and really following more like Mediterranean style fats in my life, like 20 pounds came off me overnight because my body was like, thank you for not giving me poison.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: to me, to avoid poison, to somebody else that is fuel.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is crazy.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_00]: There's probably so many people listening right now going.
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I got like holy shit, like maybe this is me or whatever, but I have.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: I've been struggling with my vitamin B and I've had blood work come back and sort of like my age.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: I said this on another podcast like my HCV or something like really high.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_00]: Like no one was paying attention.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: I finally went to this holistic guy down in San Diego and he was like,
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: your body's not absorbing vitamin D has no one said this to you for him like no any gave me a shot he's like let's just boost it but for some reason your body's not absorbing it and i'm like sitting here thinking
- 31:21[SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if I'm just genetically more predisposed.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: So this is something that I need to be on for the rest of my life.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_00]: Or like, I am the type of person that probably needs to make time and set aside money or whatever to have these shots.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: Because that's just how I am or wired.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't fair.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm doing everything I can and I can't.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: I just can't shed that last layer.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_00]: I can't tone up like I won't leave.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I have learned that genetically,
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: My body responds to weight training, way more than cardio.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: People are like, how much cardio do you do?
- 31:57[SPEAKER_00]: What do you do?
- 31:58[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, none.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, no.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, walk.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_00]: I walk daily.
- 32:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's my cardio in sex.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: I can't absolutely.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_00]: That that that's it.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think I've just learned this, but I would not be shocked if we did myself.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_00]: And then you were like,
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, absolutely.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, I'm curious to see your B vitamin panels, too.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm anemic, too.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_00]: I had been struggling with my anemia, but they're always like, are you tired or you fatigued like you like all the symptoms?
- 32:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, no, but it's showing up at.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I had been fighting for my life with my favorite in and then I finally did infusions.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_00]: And then my insurance was like,
- 32:43[SPEAKER_00]: you have good high enough numbers, but like you're not low enough for us to give you more and to cover more.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, but I should be up here, and you guys got me to hear.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_00]: And it's the, you fight with that.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_00]: So I just paid out a pocket and got it done.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course, it like stayed.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_00]: I felt better, but no one can figure that out.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_00]: They're like, why you and you make it, is it your periods?
- 33:04[SPEAKER_00]: Are you not returning?
- 33:05[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, I don't know.
- 33:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like, no, I think my periods are fine.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think you read me.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, this is so crazy.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: Back up now it is.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's so crazy.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many categories like and it really just depends on the person too.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: We can see so much and it's like we do like our standard blueprint on everyone covers kind of all the lifestyle factors.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: But we have things like I mean these days like
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: Even you can learn about your hair health genetics, your cannabis genetics, you can learn about your, you know, how you process, you know, ketamine, there's people that are like clinics that are now using genetics, you know, behind the scenes to make sure that somebody would be okay for certain therapies.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's like, it is not enough people know about it yet, but it think it is becoming a little bit more mainstream to where like certain sectors are going, how can we,
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: treat our patients and our clients better as individuals instead of just like giving them all that.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then hope that we know are not going to be different for everybody.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well, seriously, how much does this help people with food and nutrition?
- 34:13[SPEAKER_00]: and being able to like personalize things based on them.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: So much, I mean, if you, yeah, I would say like the one panel that I will never not run is nutrition because nutrition, micro nutrients and then like the detox pathways, those three are like the main ones.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, yeah, sleep and fitness and, you know, skin health and hormones.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: Those are all really great panels, but if I want somebody's foundation,
- 34:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to tell them like what you need to be eating, what kind of vitamins you need to be taking and how your detox pathways are.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: If we can start there, that's fantastic.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then you can layer in the other ones any time you want because those are a little bit more complex, hormone genetics are cool.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: We also need to see like what's actually going on with your hormones to understand the full picture.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can tell somebody you need a lot of complex carbs,
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you need this type of fat, you're basically taking care of their macro intake, right?
- 35:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then you're taking care of their vitamin, their micro intake, their micro nutrient intake, and you're also able to tell them a little bit about like their food sensitivities.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we can look at if somebody has the celiac genes.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: We can look at if you have a sensitivity to grains.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: We can look at if you have a sensitivity to dairy or if you have
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: you know, weak game from dairy.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like some people, they gain weight when they have dairy.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Some people for them dairy is very optimal.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_01]: Other people, they have trouble with satiety.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: So those are the the women that are like, I just don't know when I'm full.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like I can't sense when I'm full.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: I do all the tricks.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: I do the mindful eating.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: I can't sense when I'm full.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: They may have higher leptin.
- 35:44[SPEAKER_01]: you know, propensity.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: They may have genes that code for appetite and fullness sensing and or snacking in emotional eating and then they're going here thinking they're broken.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like you really, I'm just broken.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm an emotional eater.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I snack all the time.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: I just can't help myself.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's in your genes.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you can look at tools to help you if you know where it's coming from.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a, you know, I know that like there's a lot of conversations happening out there.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: in the peptide world too, and it's all one size fits all.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the problem.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's like we literally now run a report on peptides for people because we have to because a lot of people are going into it and they're saying, oh, I'm starting all these things that I got off the internet.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: But they don't know why, and they don't know if they could actually benefit from them.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: They don't know if they have any risks associated with it or not, just talking about the the G.L.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: keys.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking about like some really cool heavy hitting like longevity peptides and peptides that help people with histamine and muscle activation.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's a lot of really cool tools out there, but if you don't know,
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: like genetically how you're set up for those things or if you need help with, you know, gastric emptying, if you need help with satiety, if you have that, you might just be blindly literally stopping yourself for no reason.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: And it's costly.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like we'd rather streamline and be able to tell you what tools would actually work for you.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_00]: God, this is just like, open my eyes just so many things.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: I keep thinking like so many different people that I know that I'm like, you need to talk to Becca in a minute.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's why we started training practitioners.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's why like back in 2023, I saw the gap in the market and I was like, I can't see everybody.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: I'm one person.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure you feel that.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, I can take on this many clients.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gone.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: I have three kids.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: I have, you know, businesses around.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, okay, I want to help more people.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: So, like, because of my background and training and learning and development, I created a certification course because I was like, I do believe anybody can do this.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: And it does not have to be complicated.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, I started like training practitioners, you know, personal trainers, naturopaths, nutritionists, just wellness enthusiasts.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: Like, again, my background wasn't
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have letters behind my name before I started this so I don't have any kind of prerequisites for people to learn this and help their clients with their genetics.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's just something that I believe everyone should have access to.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, definitely sounds like it.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I just can't believe it's not more mainstream.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's not more like asked and we're questioning this because it plays such a big role in everything and how we live.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_00]: Can we talk a little bit about histamine because that's a topic that's been coming up a lot more.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, to answer your question, histamine genetics show up for us and nutrition panels.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so we look at that in two different places.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: And there's two different ways you can look at histamine.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's like generalized histamine.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_01]: So we're like, are you somebody that gets, you know, asthma, sinus issues, do you have symptoms when like the pollen is really high when you have
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: external histamines, or are you somebody that has a really big sensitivity to food-based histamines?
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like I talked about wine, shirkutary fermented things, bone broth, like things that are health foods, but yet a lot of people have issues or triggers, but then though you see that in genetics and we look at, you know, about 11 different SNPs there, we look at the way our body processes histamines, it breaks it down through DAO, we look at how we're set up to kind of like
- 39:22[SPEAKER_01]: already have histamine levels in our body we all do right so it's like a matter of like we hear the term like how full is your histamine bucket.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, some people already start with a really full bucket and then they can't convert it, they can't process it.
- 39:33[SPEAKER_01]: So they end up with symptoms.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: What ends up happening next is something called mass cell activation and a lot of people are talking about in-cast and things like that online.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: You're looking at basically immunoglobulin levels, which tells us, you know, how sensitive somebody is to having like a full body reaction, mass cell activation, where they feel like they're sensitive to so many things that can't eat anything that can't even have a banana or an avocado because they just flare up every time and they're like, what is going on with me?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_01]: Or they'll pull outside in the heat in the sun and they'll just get like,
- 40:08[SPEAKER_01]: complete reactions.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: So histamine is a huge one for women, especially because it's so deeply tied to the immune system.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so when our immune system has been under stress for so many years from other factors, we can look at histamine along with stress response along with
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: their detox pathways, their methylation, and we can tell, you know, to somebody need to be more supported in areas and will that make their histamine journey easier.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_01]: If it's a like a small case of it, and they don't have a ton of issues.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: They're not really in the muscle activation territory yet.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: You could take enzymes before you eat high histamine foods, D.A.O.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: enzymes.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: probiotics.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people are on probiotics that are exacerbating the symptoms because they're not histamine friendly and it's basically just taking a histamine strain and so you're adding that to their gut too.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: So it's a lot.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot of like little tweaking.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I met with clients who, yeah, they were doing all the right things.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: They were like, I'm sipping my bone broth.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having my collagen.
- 41:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having my
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, my, my fermented foods, I'm eating my yogurt, I'm doing all these things and I'm taking my probiotics and then you look at their genes and you're like the highest histamine sensitivity and you're like, hang on, let's stop doing those things for a while.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get your body back in balance, not saying you can't ever have them again, but basically you're high dosing yourself every day.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that's, you're not doing anything wrong because you didn't know, and none of those things are bad, none of those foods are inherently bad.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: I have people who are so sensitive to glutamate and glutamic acid that they can't have collagen and a lot of supplement powders because they're basically just high dosing themselves with something they're very sensitive to every day.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: But that doesn't mean that somebody else can't have it and that's not their, you know, their fuel.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, glutamate for some women is, it's very excited to worry.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_01]: They can't convert glutamated to GABA.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_01]: And so they end up wired, really anxious, having a lot of downstream issues with, um, you know, a lot of the things that it kind of looks like a pastel activation.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: But
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, in children too, like hyperactivity, all those things because they can't create the calming neurotransmitter because they have so much glutamate in their system, they're actively it's so low of for conversion that that's a lot of women's stories.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, oh, yeah.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having collagen every day, um, I'm taking protein, like I'm doing protein powder.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing all these supplements.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm having, you know, similar things like the histone, the bone broth, the slow fermented foods, the, like, really gut, healthy, gut-friendly diets.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then they're like, oh, you have the lowest gag activity, which means your conversion of high glutamate into GABA is so low that you're, you're always going to be in that excitatory neurotransmitter range
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: is so hard for you while you're high dosing those things.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: So let's take them out.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: Let's let's let's kind of detox from them.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_01]: Let's take them out, let's switch some things out, and then let your body come down, and then you can add the things you love back in.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you may love a certain protein powder, and then great.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: Go back to that.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Just don't do everything all in one day.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 43:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_00]: So there's ways around it.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_00]: There's ways to work and ways around all this.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I got to believe that you would totally agree with me first that doing all of this is necessary.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_00]: It's important.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_00]: But like the basic steps in the foundation of cleaning up your stuff and moving your body.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, is is key.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't want people to think that, you know, they can continue on eating all of the crap, getting the Starbucks, like, yeah, I got a gym membership, maybe I'll start going, and they're like, oh, why can just do this and find out and just switch a few things like that solid foundation of clean eating, healthy paying attention, organic when possible, non-GMO, and like activity and moving, that has to happen first.
- 44:01[SPEAKER_01]: foundational.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it shows up in the Blueprints too, like you'll see that.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's easy to see like sensitive environmental sensitivities all over the board.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like and then somebody will tell you like, but I don't really think it matters like cleaning up my personal care products or like using non-toxic cleaning supply.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, well, your body would disagree because you're so sensitive to Thalates and general chemicals and
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: cleaning up your home, cleaning up your diet, cleaning up your products, that all really matters because without that, you're kind of like behind that.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're not instantly.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: You could do all the other things, but it's not going to stick because you're just kind of redoing all the other stuff.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's really, it's really powerful.
- 44:47[SPEAKER_01]: I would say it's really, it's freeing, it's powerful.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a, you know, easy way out because it doesn't give you, like, yeah, there's some simple tweaks you could make and there's some very obvious, like, low-hanging fruit.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: I like to call it, right, simple.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: You still have to do the work.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: You still have to do the things.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you can't heal from a stressed state either, so you've got to be willing to work on stress and you've got to be willing to create the tools and boundaries for yourself to work on those things and then it all can fall into place when you try.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: What age can you start doing this of that question?
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: Any age, yeah, we do kids a lot because usually I do the moms, blue prints, and then they're like, okay, I'm doing my whole family.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know my kid.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: So you've done, I mean, we've done as early as like five, four, like it doesn't matter.
- 45:35[SPEAKER_01]: You can be older, like I get asked a lot like, what about my 80 year old mom?
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, absolutely do it.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing that's going to change about your static
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: now it's all about like where you're at in life learning about this when I was a kid would have been so cool that's what I was thinking I was like knowing some stuff sooner rather than later like holy crap so cool so like wherever you're at it's not the wrong time I would say like moms that get it done for their kids they feel so empowered because I've done all my kids too and it's like they're different you know they're different they have the same
- 46:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they came from the same parents, but like, one of my kids, like, does really well with, you know, high dairy.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: The other kid, like, doesn't do well with dairy at all from a standpoint of like the saturated fat piece, you know, they take after me more and then, you know, another one of my kids like my daughter and I are really fast metabolizers of caffeine, which is great because she's eight years old and she already loves like everything about the culture of like,
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: We also read a coffee shop here in Houston and she's like, I have a coffee shop.
- 46:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, she's that kind of girl and I'm like, well, yeah, you do metabolize it quickly.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: So that's not going to be an issue for you.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: My voice, they're very slow metabolizers.
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: My teenager who does drink coffee, he notices if he has it too late.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I can't sleep.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm anxious.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_01]: I do think he knows his genes.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: He knows it about himself.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_01]: But right now there's they don't always listen to their moms.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.
- 46:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's really fun.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, some of them, like, especially their exercise genes, they love like my son runs
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: be helpful.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's built for endurance, Melissa, like he, you can see it in his code, like he is an endurance athlete.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: He runs.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going like, that sounds so horrible to me.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm up there.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, give me, you know, power and sprint, give me like the short, right stuff, like, you know, on a Peloton, like, I'm not choosing a 45 minute endurance ride.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, that is my own personal hell.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_01]: 20 minute hit and hills got it.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like, for
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: You're seeing it there.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're seeing it like, oh, yeah, and then my other son.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's not him.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's more like me.
- 47:38[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't do well with endurance.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's not him.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's not set up for that slow twitch muscle fiber movement.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: He's just not and it's really cool.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: Some people are more balanced.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's so many parents too, like because my kids are all athletes and sports and we've done martial arts and all that.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_00]: And you see parents pushing their kids.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_00]: in sports because the parent liked it, fighting it.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like how cool that be to know that like you know they're not a basketball player like that type of intensity not for them.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_00]: However, they might be really good at like wrestling or.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because if you put all the exercise gains together, like you can learn, if somebody can build power and strength really fast, if somebody can build muscle really quickly, if somebody is more injury prone, so like for athletes, I wish every athlete had this, because it's like you can see Achilles risk, soft tissue risk, joint risk, so that you can prep better, you can plan better, you can get in flexibility training more often,
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, prioritize certain supplements if you are going to do certain things right your your prone to that like it's it's why my brother when he was like just playing pickle ball like tore his Achilles he has a huge risk for Achilles, you know weakness and he didn't know it.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: He was in just early 20s there was no reason for him to tear and he's he wasn't doing any crazy.
- 49:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like the right time wrong place whatever you want to call it.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, oh, how do you have known like, maybe he would have set himself up for success a little bit more or like just been aware because I think awareness is something different shoe different ankle brace like, you know, could have had a few things interesting.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_00]: This is so cool back up like how can people work with you, how can they find you will put everything in the show notes to, but give it to us like social media everything.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm on social media as MindBuddy Jeans.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: Mostly on Instagram, but you can find me all over the place.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_01]: MindBuddy Jeans.com as well.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: You can with myself, but you can also work with any of our certified coaches.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I list them all on our website.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: The ones that want to be listed.
- 49:46[SPEAKER_01]: And if gone through our training, if you resonate with somebody, maybe you vibe with somebody that's in your area that kind of specializes in what you're dealing with, whether that be autoimmune journey, whether you want to work with a nutritionist or somebody that's in like preconception, you know,
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's a one and done test.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_01]: You never have to redo it.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I also like to say it's expensive in the grand scheme of things with testing, but I was Shelling out 500 bucks a pop for food sensitivity.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: I touched testing and all the things and I was like, I don't have to keep doing this.
- 50:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then genetics are like, oh, you do it once and you never have to redo it.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where you can find us.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I love chatting with people.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: So always feel free to like send me a DM or anything else.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_00]: Awesome, you guys go to the show notes, check her out because this is worth it.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_00]: This is something like you said it's like a one time investment, but then you know and you know how to grow and build your life upon it.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is cool.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, such a cool conversation.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: This was amazing.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I can't thank you enough for sharing this information with us because now like I think we need to be on a mission to like keep this going like this needs to be mainstream.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_00]: This needs to be talked about more.
- 50:57[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks Melissa.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: We're having me on it.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: I really appreciate it.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this was great.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone stay safe.
- 51:04[SPEAKER_01]: Stay healthy.
