Scott Shriner & Patrick Wilson on Weezer’s Gold Album, Rediscovering Collaboration, and Rejecting Studio Perfection
Weezer finally got its mission statement together: “Let’s just work together.” Scott Shriner and Patrick Wilson talk with Kyle Meredith about The Gold Album, the band’s 20th record, and how sitting in a living room together turned the sessions into a creative rebirth. They also get into rejecting the modern obsession with grids and perfection, developing a stronger bass-and-drums connection, the self-aware message behind “CEO,” and taking the new songs on the road alongside The Shins and Silversun Pickups.
