Transcript
- 0:00This episode of the Daily Sarcast is brought to you by Patriocrate,
- 0:05the subscription box that delivers a tiny American flag, a hot dog, and a bald eagle statue.
- 0:12Guests have been told that there is a phone check upon arrival,
- 0:16a source for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey's wedding this weekend.
- 0:20Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Sarcast. I give you the news and made me a laugh.
- 0:25I'm Lindsay Vernick, and today is July 3rd, 2026.
- 0:29I'm sorry i sound so exhausted i worked a 14 hour plus day yesterday and i was out in the hot sun,
- 0:39so i'm a little bit wiped if we're just being honest here so i'm sorry if you
- 0:44can hear the exhaustion of my voice,
- 0:48but i am so committed to this pod so i am getting it out there and thank you
- 0:54for listening if you continue to do so.
- 0:57Love you, Mom and Dad. So in real news, Donald Trump is orchestrating what he
- 1:04calls the most spectacular Independence Day rally ever.
- 1:08There will be seven hours of military flyovers, a keynote address at 9.45 p.m.,
- 1:15and a fireworks show with 850,000 shells. Yes, that many.
- 1:22And just to begin, there's so many concerns from all this. It's a lot of money,
- 1:26for one. It's a lot of pollution from the fireworks.
- 1:29And also, this is just turning into a full-blown political rally.
- 1:34Also, the fireworks could melt before they even launch.
- 1:38But what do we know? He's our president, and he knows best, right?
- 1:43Out in California, there's a lot of cities and counties that are banning fireworks
- 1:48for July 4th because of extreme fire risk.
- 1:51Places like Place Air, YOLO, and El Dorado, along with the city of Davis,
- 1:58have fully prohibited all fireworks, even the so-called safe and sane ones.
- 2:03Basically, the reason is because of dry vegetation and triple-digit heat,
- 2:07which creates a perfect storm for fires.
- 2:10Some beach towns like Long Beach are even scaling back their shows and just
- 2:14replacing them with straight-up drone displays.
- 2:18That sucks but also like we've all seen the fireworks we can go one-fourth without
- 2:22fireworks and like there's youtube right,
- 2:26And over in Washington, D.C., the Kennedy Center is having a fireworks display.
- 2:33Oh, but it's a little bit expensive to get in there.
- 2:36I thought it was expensive to go to the bars on Saturday in New York.
- 2:41General admission for the Kennedy Center starts at about $425.
- 2:47To get in. But if you have $25,000, you can get a front row all-access experience
- 2:54to watch the fireworks in luxury.
- 2:56You get a private dining suite, valet service, and a personal meet and greet.
- 3:01Most of the cost, about $19,000 of those dollars, are tax deductible though.
- 3:07So it's actually not that bad if you really think about it. I mean,
- 3:10it's like basically a steal.
- 3:12But all this money supports the Kennedy Center's renovation fund,
- 3:16which we all know desperately needs.
- 3:19And Lindsay Life. So as I said, it was a 14-hour day yesterday on set.
- 3:24But it was a fun, chaotic day.
- 3:26I worked with a lot of 90s celebrity talent again.
- 3:30And it was just so crazy because half the day I spent in a room just hanging
- 3:36out with Stephanie Tanner from Full House and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
- 3:41And I literally turned to them and I'm like, guys, I'm dying right now.
- 3:45Like, teenage me is dying. Like, this is crazy.
- 3:48And they were cracking up because they're like, oh, yeah, like,
- 3:51because they're just regular, normal people.
- 3:53And it's just so crazy how some people will put these celebrities up on pedestals.
- 3:58But like well some of them yeah are fucking crazy but like these women were
- 4:02just like normal down to earth girls and it was like so fun they were like you
- 4:07wouldn't even know that they're super famous so it was cool,
- 4:10and i would like do little things with them all day like we would be eating
- 4:14pizza and i would like be like thinking oh my god i can't believe i'm eating
- 4:18pizza with these people because there's other celebrities too that i'm not naming.
- 4:23But yeah super cool day now that show was officially wrapped. So on to the next one.
- 4:28An MVP of this week goes to Leo, who is a barista in Savannah.
- 4:33And last Wednesday morning, he just smiled simply at a customer who just seemed a bit sad.
- 4:39And then that customer, on the edge of a breakdown, decided to reach out to
- 4:44a friend that he hasn't talked to in years.
- 4:47And then by that afternoon, they reconnected.
- 4:50And because of that one tiny little smile gave both of them a lifeline.
- 4:55So Leo may never know how far his smile made it and what an impact it made,
- 5:01but you also may never know what your smile can do for somebody.
- 5:05So pay it forward, especially this weekend with all the chaos and the craziness.
- 5:10It sounds so cliche, but it's true. You never know what somebody else is going through.
- 5:15So just be nice to everybody. It'll make you feel better too.
- 5:18So it's like basically selfish if you really think about it.
- 5:22Cooking tip of the day is that you can put cheese on your hot dog,
- 5:28but you also can easily just not do that at all.
- 5:31Feedback, comments, questions, a nice Jewish boy looking for a date,
- 5:35email me at lindsay at thedailystarcast.com.
- 5:38My God, I really need to get some rest. Have a great weekend.
- 5:42Happy 4th. Stay safe. Stay hydrated.
- 5:45And I will talk to you guys on Monday.
