Jaws (1975) | Ep. 44 - Part 1
The shark barely worked, the shoot ran wildly over, and the chaos accidentally made the film better. John, Westy, Matt, and Luke begin the story of the first summer blockbuster.
In Part 1 we cover the film's opening, director Steven Spielberg, the cast, and the second act — including that opening night swim, the malfunctioning mechanical shark forcing Spielberg to suggest rather than show, and the slow-building terror on Amity's beaches.
You're gonna need a bigger podcast. Part 2 heads out to sea: crew, finale, reception, legacy. Out now.
