- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:46Hi, it's Adam here and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:50session all about alcohol reduction and.
- 0:54If you ever. Feel that you need to drink or
- 0:57you need to pre drink between certain situations or before
- 1:00certain situations. I think you're going to get some
- 1:02value from this hypnosis session.
- 1:05It was created. For a.
- 1:07Client that would quite often host big events, lots of people
- 1:11coming to their home or some kind of a venue and they really
- 1:16took pride in being the organizer, the Hostess of these
- 1:21type of events. But it would lead them to
- 1:25secretly drink sometimes to drink before to secretly drink
- 1:30while because they didn't want to be judged to drinking too
- 1:32much. But they wanted this feeling
- 1:34that alcohol could help them in these social situations.
- 1:39And yet they had had many experiences of doing things like
- 1:44dry January, sober October, 100 days of not drinking.
- 1:48And there was one particular time that they could recall
- 1:51about 60 days into not drinking, having a very fun, enjoyable
- 1:56night and not needing any alcohol at all, and in fact,
- 2:00confidently turning alcohol down when they were offered.
- 2:04And this hypnosis session uses this archetype of joy.
- 2:11And, and I asked this client, I said, if there was a name
- 2:14attached to this version of you that can have fun and not need
- 2:17alcohol, what would it be called?
- 2:19And she said the word joy. And joy is obviously a name, but
- 2:22it's also an emotion. So I like the, you know, kind of
- 2:26double meanings of, of joy. And I said, if joy had a colour,
- 2:31what would it be? And for her, it would be magenta
- 2:34or pink, a vibrant pink. So we actually use these things
- 2:39as a way to activate this feeling, but also sub
- 2:44personality, this archetype of joy.
- 2:47So we actually go to a place where they would definitely feel
- 2:50like they're having fun and not at all consider alcohol, which
- 2:54is like an exercise, a hot exercise class, like a hot yoga
- 2:57type of place. But then from within that,
- 3:00reactivating that version of them that had this really fun
- 3:03night without needing any alcohol.
- 3:05And then taking that and saying right, they can activate this
- 3:09version of them in any situation whenever they need to.
- 3:13Either by the. Colour or by setting the
- 3:14intention and then we future pace that.
- 3:17There's also a reference to Dumbo.
- 3:20If you've watched the Disney movie Dumbo, you'll recall that
- 3:24Dumbo was given a black feather by a crow and starts to.
- 3:28Believe. That it's the feather that is
- 3:30the reason that they can fly rather than their big ears.
- 3:34And of course, in psychology we'd call that a placebo effect.
- 3:38It becomes a proxy for what is actually true, which is
- 3:41something else. And I think a lot of people use
- 3:43alcohol in that way. It's the belief that alcohol is
- 3:47going to help. The paradoxically means that it
- 3:50helps, but it isn't because. Of the alcohol.
- 3:54It's because of the belief connected to the alcohol.
- 3:57And once this client had irrefutable evidence that they
- 4:00could have fun and be confident and be resourceful and enjoy
- 4:04themselves without the need of alcohol, but then it really
- 4:07gives them the ability to kind of take it or leave it, but
- 4:12certainly not need it. And it's not that they wanted to
- 4:15be teetotal, but they didn't want to feel like they had to
- 4:17have it. So if you can resonate or
- 4:19connect with any of these ideas, then you're probably going to
- 4:22get some value from this particular hypnosis session.
- 4:26If you like the idea of working with me in a different way,
- 4:30there's lots of free resources in the show notes in the
- 4:32description. And if you want to explore
- 4:34working with me directly, there's also the ability to
- 4:37schedule a completely free consultation call there in the
- 4:40description. You can book that.
- 4:41We'll have a conversation on Zoom and it might be that I end
- 4:44U being your hypnotherapist and we can kind of exlore what that
- 4:46would be like. For now, though, find a quiet,
- 4:49comfortable place where you won't be.
- 4:51Disturbed. Relax.
- 4:52And enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:52you breathe in, breathe in that slow, long, relaxing breath.
- 5:58And as you exhale, just release all the tension from around your
- 6:05eyelids. That's it.
- 6:11Feeling a wonderful sense of release.
- 6:17And as you breathe in, breathe in that feeling of resourceful
- 6:20relaxation. And as you exhale, give
- 6:27permission to release any feelings of overwhelm or stress.
- 6:31That's it. And sometimes it's useful to
- 6:36think of your body as a pressure cooker.
- 6:43Sometimes things can build up and build up.
- 6:47And I want you to get a sense of how it would feel if on every
- 6:54outward breath, your exhale becomes the release valve to
- 7:01really let go, Which means you're just a few breaths away
- 7:12from letting go of things you've been holding onto.
- 7:20Perhaps responsibilities, judgements, beliefs that were
- 7:32useful at one point but aren't necessary anymore.
- 7:39I want you to accept the idea that on every outward breath you
- 7:45are letting go of something that is no longer useful, and on
- 7:52every inward breath you are breathing in something helpful,
- 8:00useful, beneficial. So you could imagine breathing
- 8:06in relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 8:14You could imagine breathing in optimism and exhaling feelings
- 8:25of seriousness or hopelessness and just get a sense that this
- 8:35is like a transfusion for your soul.
- 8:40Breathing in what you need and exhaling what you don't.
- 8:48Each breath takes you deeper than the last.
- 8:53That's it. Taking you deeper and deeper,
- 8:58relaxed. As your body relaxes, your
- 9:05imagination awakens, and I wonder if you could imagine
- 9:12wearing something that you would wear in a yoga studio, a gym, an
- 9:20exercise class that is bright magenta.
- 9:28You don't have to own such a thing, but just imagine it.
- 9:33I wonder if you could imagine wearing that lycra, that
- 9:37leotard, that gym outfit, bright pink, magenta.
- 9:45And I wonder if you could imagine being in the kind of
- 9:50exercise class where the temperature is all the way up
- 9:55and maybe you're doing Pilates or yoga isometrics, or even the
- 10:03kind of thing that is building muscle and creating resistance.
- 10:12And maybe there are full length mirrors around.
- 10:17And I want you to imagine seeing you with a big smile on your
- 10:21face wearing that bright magenta outfit.
- 10:27I want you to notice that you can be in a place where you're
- 10:30smiling and having fun doing something that enhances.
- 10:36Your. Health and not only is there no
- 10:44desire to drink alcohol, that even if it was present you
- 10:50wouldn't choose to do it. And I want you to tap into an
- 10:54idea of how easy it is. I feel like you can take it or
- 11:02leave it, but certainly not needed.
- 11:09In fact, let's create a scenario where there you are having a
- 11:14workout and someone asks if you want some vodka in that water
- 11:21bottle. Isn't it the easiest thing in
- 11:25the world to say no, you could have it.
- 11:31You're choosing not to because it just doesn't make sense.
- 11:37Instead of enhancing the experience, perhaps it would
- 11:42ruin it. All the very benefits of being
- 11:46there would be tainted. And I want you to imagine
- 11:55feeling good wearing that magenta, feeling happy, mindful,
- 12:03feeling healthy. And then imagine a particular
- 12:08yoga pose, which is easy to do, where you can feel relaxed.
- 12:17And I wonder if you could imagine as many people do and
- 12:25they feel relaxed in that meditative state.
- 12:29They Daydream sometimes forwards in time and we can call that
- 12:35wishful thinking and sometimes backwards in time that we can
- 12:40call nostalgia or reminiscence. So as you imagine wearing that
- 12:48magenta outfit there in that hot yoga studio, I want you to
- 12:56imagine what it would be like to reminisce of a time that you
- 13:02went out and other people were drinking and you chose not to.
- 13:09You can keep your physical body there in that studio, but your
- 13:15imagination can float all the way, perhaps to Florida, to a
- 13:22particular bar. And I want you to imagine just
- 13:26arriving at that bar, get a sense of the kind of clothing
- 13:31you'd be wearing. But let's add something.
- 13:36Let's add that you are wearing one item of clothing that is
- 13:43either bright pink or that intense magenta.
- 13:49Maybe it's the dress, maybe it's the shoes, maybe it's something
- 13:56else you can choose. But I want you to tap into this
- 14:00idea that you were there and it was easy not to drink.
- 14:10Not that you couldn't at any point.
- 14:13You could have chose to, but you didn't.
- 14:19I want you to feel connected with this idea that you can take
- 14:24it or leave it, but not need it, and sometimes even better, not
- 14:33even wanted. And I want you to feel that you
- 14:38can have fun, you can interact, other people can drink, and
- 14:45that's fine. And I want you to feel that
- 14:49you're dialing any judgement all the way down, judging of others,
- 14:55judging of yourself. And as judgement goes down,
- 15:00resourcefulness goes up. You simply have this belief.
- 15:08You feel so good, so resourceful.
- 15:12You don't need alcohol. Alcohol is like a Band-Aid for a
- 15:20leaky hose pipe. Feels like it's helping, but
- 15:26it's only temporary. And I want you to get a feeling
- 15:31that what is more permanent is a belief.
- 15:36A belief that your experience, your qualities, your
- 15:48capabilities are the real thing. That means that you can handle
- 15:55any social situation, whether you're hosting or just enjoying.
- 16:03Your resources are what makes the difference.
- 16:10And in the past, you thought that alcohol was helping, but I
- 16:17wonder if you've ever seen the film Dumbo, That elephant with
- 16:25the big ears that thinks it can fly.
- 16:30And somewhere along the line, a crow gives Dumbo a black
- 16:35feather. And little Dumbo starts to
- 16:40believe that it isn't those big ears that make that elephant
- 16:45fly, it's the black feather. And I want you to accept a
- 16:53belief that for years now, alcohol has been your black
- 16:59feather belief. That it actually.
- 17:02Helped or was needed. And all along it was something
- 17:06else. It was you, your resources, your
- 17:13skills, social skills, hosting skills, your ability to organise
- 17:21and prepare. That's what made the difference.
- 17:28I want you to get a sense that all along alcohol has just been
- 17:32a placebo, A belief that it helped.
- 17:36So it helped, but it was never needed.
- 17:41And as you find yourself enjoying that night in that bar
- 17:48there in Florida, this is irrefutable evidence that you
- 17:55never needed that black feather. You never needed a drink in your
- 18:02hand to feel free, capable, empowered.
- 18:12And now that you know that for sure, we can call this side of
- 18:18you, this version of you that knows that you don't need
- 18:23alcohol, joy. And I want you to feel that joy
- 18:33of not needing something that you don't need.
- 18:40I want you to think of at least one smoker that you know that
- 18:44has convinced himself that they need to smoke to deal with
- 18:50stress or to be social or to reward themselves.
- 18:58And you know that that's not true, but they believe it
- 19:02anyway. And as you acknowledge that
- 19:08feel, you're coming to the same conclusion.
- 19:13You don't need alcohol to feel mindful, present, fun.
- 19:21You don't need alcohol to release a burden.
- 19:25You don't need alcohol to feel happy.
- 19:30You don't need alcohol for anything.
- 19:34All along it's been a false belief, an illusion that is
- 19:43helping. But you have the data to know it
- 19:48does the opposite. It makes you less capable, less
- 19:56present, less joyful. And I want you to really feel
- 20:05like you're back in your body that time, having a great night.
- 20:09And I want you to see someone test.
- 20:15Your resolve. Imagine someone offering you a
- 20:21drink or to add vodka to your drink and notice how easy it is
- 20:29to say no. Not in a meek, apologetic way,
- 20:36but in a strong, empowered, confident way.
- 20:42Not rude, not disrespectful, but firm, assertive, confident.
- 20:48And notice how that didn't take any of the fun away.
- 20:54By knowing that you didn't want it, didn't need it and didn't
- 20:57accept it. And I want you to feel that you
- 21:04are empowering joy and alter ego within you, a version of you
- 21:13that doesn't want or need alcohol.
- 21:17And if you do have it, it's because you choose it on your
- 21:24terms, in your way, not because it's needed.
- 21:32But if that drink means that you're swapping joy for a
- 21:37different part that then does need it, you can remind yourself
- 21:41that you can bring back joy whenever you choose.
- 21:47And maybe that's through a colour or a way that you talk to
- 21:52yourself, or just by setting an intention.
- 21:59I want you to feel how good it would feel to not need drink of
- 22:07any kind. When you feel that that part is
- 22:12fully awakened, engaged, and now an ally in your future.
- 22:17Let me know by nodding your head.
- 22:22And I want you to imagine going back to that yoga studio, but
- 22:29now on that big screen instead of seeing an instructor.
- 22:32I want you to see yourself in your future.
- 22:37I want you to see yourself hosting an event with lots of
- 22:41people and knowing that you're wearing at least one item of
- 22:46something pink or magenta. And I want you to see that
- 22:52version of you doesn't need to drink at all.
- 22:59The illusion has been lifted, just like Dumbo Stumbo flied
- 23:08without the feather. Dumbo never needed that feather
- 23:12again. And every time Joy flies without
- 23:20her feather, the need to drink in the future diminishes and
- 23:26diminishes until it doesn't exist at all.
- 23:30And I want you to see that future version of you in a busy,
- 23:37perhaps overwhelming situation and not needing to drink.
- 23:45And then I want you to see yourself at a different time in
- 23:47the future. See yourself having a meal in a
- 23:53nice restaurant. Instead of a glass of red wine,
- 23:59I want you to imagine just a soft drink and that enhances
- 24:07your enjoyment of the night. I want you to imagine seeing an
- 24:14upcoming situation that normally you would drink, but I want you
- 24:19to see it's Joy who turns up, and Joy doesn't need to drink at
- 24:25all. And I want you to imagine what
- 24:33it would be like to imagine yourself two or three years in
- 24:38the future. And more and more often it's joy
- 24:43that turns up. And that old version of you that
- 24:48needed to pre drink, to sneak a drink or to have that drink in
- 24:54your hand becomes less and less frequent because you have more
- 24:59fun when you realise that you can take it or leave it.
- 25:06But certainly not needed. And if that future version of
- 25:13you seems happier, healthier and more joyful, let me know by
- 25:21nodding your head and consider this a powerful seed planted
- 25:28deep in your subconscious mind. And you don't need to wear
- 25:33magenta or that bright pink every time, just know it's now a
- 25:40tool. That.
- 25:42Even if you have something tiny in that particular colour, you
- 25:50can activate joy whenever you choose and you are just a few
- 25:57evenings away of being able to have such momentum.
- 26:04But the colour is no longer needed to bring about that part
- 26:08of you. I can take it or leave it, but
- 26:12certainly not needed. And when joy is really in
- 26:17control, don't be surprised if you don't even want it.
- 26:25That you get more good feelings from turning it down than by
- 26:32drinking. I want you to get a sense that
- 26:38you have unlocked something. You've let go of an old belief,
- 26:46you've let go of an old compulsion, and you are
- 26:50unleashing that version of you that gets to have these social,
- 26:58enjoyable occasions and not needing alcohol at all.
- 27:09I want you to imagine floating back from that hot studio,
- 27:17feeling that your unconscious has done the hard work needed to
- 27:26shift your future. Allow all the changes to take
- 27:33place now, when you sleep, when you dream, but more importantly,
- 27:38whenever you set an intention. You're looking forward to giving
- 27:47joy more opportunity to be empowered, fun, present, feeling
- 27:55free, full of choices and options and no obligations.
- 28:03So float all the way back to the present, to the here and the
- 28:07now. Because very soon I count from
- 28:111:00 to 10:00 to awaken you. And you will feel you've let go.
- 28:20Let go of an old version of you, an activated and improved
- 28:25version of you, and you could always choose to go back to that
- 28:30old version. But even then, it's a choice,
- 28:35and that choice feels less appealing the more you think
- 28:38about it. That's it To take a deep breath
- 28:44in through your nose and out through your nose.
- 28:50Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 28:52Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 28:56from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 29:01Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 29:10Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 29:13Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 29:16Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
