- 0:00Hello and welcome, Soul Tribe, my family.
- 0:06Thank you so much for tuning in to Peace and the Pod.
- 0:10I'm Loretta. And for those that are returning
- 0:13listeners, thank you so much for returning and joining us today.
- 0:17And for any new listeners, welcome and thank you for being
- 0:20here. Hey, hey Soul Tribe, welcome to
- 0:28Peace and the Pod. So you all know I like to do
- 0:32some deep, deep, deep thinking and then I share my thoughts.
- 0:41So I was doing some thinking about all the people we meet in
- 0:47our life, just the ones that come and go, the ones that stay,
- 0:51just all the people and all the different personalities that
- 0:56these people have. And it had me thinking about how
- 1:03some people you meet and know they treat you really well.
- 1:08And then you have others that just crap all over you.
- 1:12They talk to you crazy or they feel like they can talk to you
- 1:16any kind of way and make you the butt of a joke, whatever.
- 1:23And then it, it's, it's, I don't know, it just had me thinking
- 1:27about the people we allow in our circle and the way that we allow
- 1:36people to treat us. And I feel like people would
- 1:45treat you have or they feel like they can and, and want to.
- 1:49If you don't set boundaries, if you're just letting them say
- 1:54whatever and you don't really correct them or stop them,
- 1:58they're going to see that as you know, you don't mind, you don't
- 2:02care, and they're going to continue the behavior.
- 2:04And if you stop them, set some boundaries and stop them in
- 2:08their tracks, they'll understand that you are not tolerating
- 2:13that. That kind of mistreatment, that
- 2:15kind of disrespect or behavior, it's, it's just not going to
- 2:20happen. So I think if we start setting
- 2:25some firm boundaries with people and teaching people how we want
- 2:33to be treated, we can get the treatment that we desire and
- 2:40deserve. And this could be applied to
- 2:46friendships, relationships, whatever.
- 2:50Simply setting boundaries early will teach people how you want
- 2:57to be treated. Because the moment you start
- 2:59allowing them to mistreat you, they're going to continue that
- 3:02behavior because they've already gotten away with it and you
- 3:04haven't stopped them. And the moment you keep allowing
- 3:08that is the moment they're going to just continue.
- 3:12They're going to see it as, OK, this is someone I can treat a
- 3:17certain way and talk to a certain way, and they're going
- 3:20to keep being around. So as long as you keep returning
- 3:24and allowing that behavior, they're going to keep that
- 3:26behavior going. And I think when we set these
- 3:29boundaries and, and, and just say, Hey, don't speak to me like
- 3:33that or, you know, you're not going to treat me that way and
- 3:37you remove yourself from that energy and let them know that
- 3:41you're not going to tolerate it, They'll understand you're not
- 3:44one to be mistreated and disrespected.
- 3:47But we have to establish those boundaries first.
- 3:51And some people, you know, they, they don't want to speak up on
- 3:54things or, or say something to someone because they're afraid
- 3:57of that person's reaction. But keep in mind, that person
- 4:00already doesn't care about how you feel because they're already
- 4:03treating you less than. So don't be concerned about how
- 4:08they're going to react. Stand up for yourself and set
- 4:13those boundaries. You have to protect your energy.
- 4:19Don't allow people to come around and, and, and talk to you
- 4:22all kinds of crazy and giving them the benefit of the doubt.
- 4:26Sometimes, yeah, they might be having a bad day, but that's
- 4:29when you say, hey, there's something going on with you,
- 4:31'cause you're talking to me a little crazy, or maybe not like
- 4:34that, but I'm just straightforward.
- 4:36I you can finesse it a little bit.
- 4:40But all I'm saying is when people mistreat you or
- 4:45disrespect you in any kind of way and you allow that behavior
- 4:48to pass, then they're going to continue that behavior because
- 4:53it's already seeming to be acceptable.
- 4:55And you know, if you wait months down the line to try to stop
- 4:59them, the patterns already created, that's how they treat
- 5:03you. That's all they know at this
- 5:04point. And it's like, Oh, now you
- 5:06changing up on me and, and being a different person cuz you OK
- 5:10with it, you know, a few months ago.
- 5:12So it's like they'll try to make you feel some kind of way or you
- 5:17might be dealing with someone who actually is like, oh, I'm
- 5:19sorry, I didn't, you know, I did not realize that that's how I,
- 5:23you know, I was treating you or that's how it came off.
- 5:26But if you don't address it, it's going to continue.
- 5:29That's all I'm saying. So if you don't set the
- 5:32boundaries, some firm boundaries, you will be treated
- 5:36the way that that person feels that they can get away with.
- 5:41And you have to teach people, you have to teach people how to
- 5:46treat you. And you do that by setting the
- 5:50boundaries early. The moment you hear something or
- 5:54you get the disrespect or, or or bad behavior, that's when you
- 6:04need to speak up on something. And this could be in in your
- 6:08professional setting. This could be with your
- 6:10friendships, your love life, any situation.
- 6:16You need to set boundaries in to make sure that that that is
- 6:20established early and you get treated the way that you
- 6:25deserve. Sometimes it might not go over
- 6:29as well as you think it will. Some people are not receptive
- 6:35and you may lose a friend you may lose or a partner.
- 6:41You have to speak up for yourself though.
- 6:43You can't allow someone to mistreat you because you fear
- 6:50their reaction or even fear that has been going on for so long
- 6:57that it's too late to speak up on it.
- 6:59No, it's not. It's never too late.
- 7:02You have the right and deserve to be treated with dignity and
- 7:07respect, and you need to speak up when someone does not respect
- 7:13you or treat you the way that you deserve to be treated.
- 7:19And if people are feeling some kind of way, if you speak up on
- 7:22it, then those people are not meant to be in your circle.
- 7:25They are not meant to go with you as you progress in this
- 7:29life. And maybe, just maybe that
- 7:34particular individual was part of helping you bring out
- 7:40something inside of you that you have suppressed or hidden.
- 7:48And it's time to bring it to the surface because that's a part of
- 7:50your talent, your gifts. And in order for you to be the
- 7:55full version of you, you need to let that that part up and out.
- 8:01So sometimes we do experience people to challenge us to, to
- 8:08bring out the parts of us that we know are in there.
- 8:12We just don't want to bring it up because of whatever the
- 8:16circumstances or consequences we think are coming.
- 8:21So we fear a reaction from the other person rather than
- 8:29understanding that you shouldn't be treated or or spoken to that
- 8:35way. So all I'm saying is treat
- 8:41people how you want to be treated by setting boundaries
- 8:46early and if it's already to a point where the mistreatment and
- 8:54the disrespect is already happening, speak up OK?
- 9:00You are a strong individual and you deserve respect.
- 9:05No one should be mistreating you and disrespecting you.
- 9:11You are a strong individual and there is power in your voice.
- 9:18The power is already within you. You just need to speak up and
- 9:24let it out. Thanks again for tuning in to
