- 0:51Speaker 3: on the Money, the podcast that makes personal finance is fun,
- 0:54Speaker 3: especially on a Friday. You, my friend, are here just
- 0:57Speaker 3: in time for Friday drinks, that time of the week
- 1:00Speaker 3: where we get together to celebrate our She's on the
- 1:02Speaker 3: Money Community. I'm Victoria Devine and joining me today is
- 1:05Speaker 3: none other than beksay Ed, who is coming in hot
- 1:08Speaker 3: with the broke tips, and Miss Jessica Ricci, who is
- 1:12Speaker 3: as always here with this week's money wins, and my friends.
- 1:16Speaker 3: As always, we are going to be answering your money
- 1:18Speaker 3: dilemmas and your dms, and this week's picks are all
- 1:21Speaker 3: about investment, specifically whether you should continue investing time at
- 1:27Speaker 3: a job that you literally hate for long term financial
- 1:29Speaker 3: gains and where to invest when you've inherited a hefty portfolio. Oh,
- 1:36Speaker 3: I think will be very interesting if you have an
- 1:39Speaker 3: intriguing money dilemma, we would always love to hear it.
- 1:42Speaker 3: We just want the tea like, ask me, what are
- 1:45Speaker 3: you going to do about your boyfriend who's cheating on
- 1:47Speaker 3: you but you have a house together. I want to
- 1:49Speaker 3: know you know. I want the juicy goss, like, if
- 1:51Speaker 3: you've got anything that's related to money, I'll take it.
- 1:54Speaker 3: If you've got any other goss, I will also take it.
- 1:57Speaker 3: So please head on over to the podcast page on
- 1:59Speaker 3: She's on the Money and leave us a message. We
- 2:01Speaker 3: listen to every single one of them, and some of
- 2:03Speaker 3: them end up right here on the podcast. Now, it's
- 2:07Speaker 3: been a while, so you're gonna have to remind me.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Could it be I don't know time for a five
- 2:11Speaker 3: star review? It's exactly time for five star review. Cop
- 2:14Speaker 3: Oh my god, I just checked my watch. That's crazy,
- 2:16Speaker 3: of course, the time where we bask in the glory
- 2:18Speaker 3: of ourselves and the most flattering comments that our community
- 2:21Speaker 3: provide us. Oh my god, I'm so excited. And look,
- 2:23Speaker 3: we love to chat, but hearing all of you and
- 2:25Speaker 3: what you think of the show and what we've covered
- 2:27Speaker 3: is it just doesn't get old. I'm not gonna lie.
- 2:30Speaker 3: So if you've been umming and a ring about leaving
- 2:33Speaker 3: a review, my friend, this is your sign. I'm all
- 2:37Speaker 3: about signed. So this is your sign. You can share
- 2:39Speaker 3: them with us on Apple, podcasts, on Spotify, on socials,
- 2:42Speaker 3: on dms. We are really not very picky. All we
- 2:45Speaker 3: want to do is bask in the glory of your
- 2:48Speaker 3: most flattering comments. So this one it comes from Lichelle,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and you know what she says, six star review. Okay,
- 2:56Speaker 3: pop off, Queen. That is a great start, she says,
- 2:59Speaker 3: She's on the money. Has genuinely changed my life. I'm
- 3:02Speaker 3: only twenty two, but I've been binging the podcast since
- 3:05Speaker 3: I started listing at the start of twenty twenty five.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I used to think my money habits were in A
- 3:11Speaker 3: plus and then I realized that maybe they're more of
- 3:13Speaker 3: a B mins And now I reckon I've brought it
- 3:16Speaker 3: back up to a B plus. Oh, I'm determined to
- 3:19Speaker 3: get my A status back. She's on the money has
- 3:22Speaker 3: accompanied me basically everywhere I drive. They are my friends
- 3:25Speaker 3: and they are my mentors. I've started investing with Chais's
- 3:28Speaker 3: in October and I'm almost at my three thousand dollar milestone.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Sometimes when I'm scared I'm not doing enough for I'm
- 3:36Speaker 3: doing the wrong things, I remind myself that I've started
- 3:38Speaker 3: earlier than if I let analysis paralysis get in my way,
- 3:41Speaker 3: and that I am building up my future regardless. I
- 3:45Speaker 3: know future me is going to thank me. I want
- 3:48Speaker 3: to thank you all as well. I wouldn't have done
- 3:50Speaker 3: any of this without you. And then she did three
- 3:53Speaker 3: of those love hearts that we used to do on
- 3:55Speaker 3: MSN back in the day, with the like greater than
- 3:58Speaker 3: sign and the number three queen. Yeah, my goodness, that's amazing.
- 4:03Speaker 3: You have a very bright financial future. Absolutely, I wish
- 4:06Speaker 3: I was like that. I know we are so proud
- 4:08Speaker 3: of you. And you are well on your way, my queen,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and congrats on beating analysis paralysis because we don't know
- 4:14Speaker 3: her here noa yeah, big snaps. Now, my friends, I
- 4:18Speaker 3: have been away for a little while. It's just been
- 4:20Speaker 3: the two of you, but I am back. But I
- 4:21Speaker 3: want to be in the No. What have our community
- 4:24Speaker 3: been asking about?
- 4:25Speaker 4: My favorite one was we were asked if the top
- 4:27Speaker 4: or the bottom of the pizza was the cruss part?
- 4:29Speaker 4: What so if you were going to take a bike,
- 4:31Speaker 4: if I said take a bike from the top of
- 4:32Speaker 4: the piece of pizza, will you take a bike from
- 4:34Speaker 4: the crust or from the point of it?
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yes, the top of the what? Which? Where do we
- 4:39Speaker 3: land on this? We agree? We read the crust was
- 4:42Speaker 3: the top, the crust is the handle?
- 4:43Speaker 4: Yeah, well, and the handles are the top. I'm sure
- 4:47Speaker 4: we had this conversation. Do you know what?
- 4:49Speaker 3: No, I can't remember. We landed on flip it around? Yeah, crust,
- 4:54Speaker 3: I don't know crust, you know what I reckon. The
- 4:57Speaker 3: way I'm solving this is, if you were to be
- 5:00Speaker 3: given a piece of paper and you were to draw
- 5:02Speaker 3: a piece of pizza, would the crusty at the top
- 5:05Speaker 3: or would you draw the crust to the bottom at
- 5:07Speaker 3: the top. Ye okay, it's the top, yeah, okay, questionably.
- 5:10Speaker 3: And then you hold up the paper and the piece
- 5:12Speaker 3: of like the crust is drawn at the top, it's
- 5:15Speaker 3: the top.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Like if I said to hold a piece of pizza
- 5:16Speaker 4: by the like, you're not picking it up by the tip.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Top. But you don't pick everything up by the top.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Like if you were to pick up a lamp, would
- 5:26Speaker 3: you pick it up by the top of the lamp? No,
- 5:28Speaker 3: you'd pick up the bottom. I see the logic, but
- 5:31Speaker 3: I'm staunch in my belief. Yeah, the top. Well, you
- 5:35Speaker 3: know what, I'm not going to ask about the other
- 5:36Speaker 3: questions because I feel like we would talk about them
- 5:38Speaker 3: for the rest of the episode. And I'm sad I
- 5:40Speaker 3: missed those kind of but hopefully this week's question will
- 5:43Speaker 3: make up the fact that I missed a few. This
- 5:46Speaker 3: one comes from Arnie, who asks the Suddenly thirty movie
- 5:50Speaker 3: reboot is officially in development. What would your thirteen year
- 5:54Speaker 3: old self expect to see if she woke up as
- 5:57Speaker 3: you today? This is a bad time, say I haven't
- 5:59Speaker 3: seen Suddenly. It's when a thirteen year old get this,
- 6:03Speaker 3: wakes up and just suddenly thirty, got it. Yeah, so
- 6:06Speaker 3: you were thirteen and then you blinked and woke up
- 6:10Speaker 3: as Jessie today. I'm pretty sure.
- 6:12Speaker 4: At the time, I was like, by thirty, I'll have
- 6:15Speaker 4: a big house and a husband and two kids, because like,
- 6:18Speaker 4: obviously I'm gonna have my first kid at like twenty four,
- 6:21Speaker 4: and then if I have my next kid by like
- 6:22Speaker 4: twenty six and by thirty, yeah, wow, crazy logic, I know.
- 6:28Speaker 4: And my logic was this, keep those children away from me,
- 6:31Speaker 4: like I love them, I love the children. Give me
- 6:33Speaker 4: the children as long as she.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Wants my kid, but she wants to give it back. Yes,
- 6:37Speaker 3: oh my god, I did. And she's an angel with
- 6:39Speaker 3: my children. But she's just a lot of kids. Yeah,
- 6:42Speaker 3: I will not be spawning after me. No, no, absolutely,
- 6:45Speaker 3: are you happy about that? I don't feel any type
- 6:47Speaker 3: of way about like I think.
- 6:48Speaker 4: I just I had a very idealized version of what
- 6:51Speaker 4: being an adult was and like how expensive it was
- 6:54Speaker 4: to be an adult and how much responsibility you have
- 6:57Speaker 4: it here mean, I was like, when I'm an adult,
- 6:59Speaker 4: I'm going to drive my own car and we're really cool.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Yes, and nobody's going to tell me what to do.
- 7:05Speaker 3: And now I'm like, now you have adult money and
- 7:07Speaker 3: you've got to spend it like an adult. Like that
- 7:09Speaker 3: is not the concept of adult money.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I don't know where my wife's got crossed, but this
- 7:13Speaker 3: is not what I signed up for. Confused adult money
- 7:16Speaker 3: with free will? Yeah, yeah, and those two things were different.
- 7:19Speaker 3: We were going to be eating fruit loops for breakfast
- 7:21Speaker 3: every day.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Literally. I was like, I'm going to live off McDonald
- 7:25Speaker 4: It's like, yeah, my mom's not going to tell me
- 7:28Speaker 4: what to do when I grow up, and now I
- 7:29Speaker 4: call him like, Mom.
- 7:30Speaker 3: What do I do? Help? Yeah, it's all so funny.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Like I feel like if we were told our whole
- 7:36Speaker 5: lives that we have to or we should be owning
- 7:40Speaker 5: a horse by the time we're fifty, then we will
- 7:42Speaker 5: be like, oh, by this stage, I thought own a horse.
- 7:45Speaker 3: It's like you're just like doing what you want to
- 7:47Speaker 3: do at all times, and I think it's amazing. Also,
- 7:49Speaker 3: that's so Australian, like not a horse. We are in kangaroos. Obviously, No,
- 7:55Speaker 3: we want to own property because it's great Australian dream.
- 7:57Speaker 3: But if you went overseas would be like, what's your plan?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Not many other countries would be like, oh, well, I'll
- 8:03Speaker 3: own a home, like it's just not part of the
- 8:07Speaker 3: kids a family. They'd probably be like, oh, I'd rant
- 8:09Speaker 3: in a beautiful location. Like we've just been fed this narrative,
- 8:13Speaker 3: and that narrative somehow becomes our expectations. I know, I
- 8:16Speaker 3: have a very different answer. I didn't even clock that,
- 8:18Speaker 3: or I just I knew that.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Like if I was thirteen one second ago and just
- 8:22Speaker 5: woke up now, I would be stoked as hell to
- 8:26Speaker 5: be like, first of all, I'm on this.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Podcast with you guys. Also you're really hot.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Not to big note myself, but I remember like really
- 8:33Speaker 5: not liking the way my lips were when I smiled
- 8:35Speaker 5: back when I was like when I was like a teenager,
- 8:37Speaker 5: and I like would love to know that it evened
- 8:40Speaker 5: itself out, like you know, like it really pointed down.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I don't know how to explain it, but I don't
- 8:44Speaker 3: know how to explain it, but you've got phenomenal lips.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Oh thank you. I would just be stoked as hell.
- 8:51Speaker 5: And I really wanted that life of like not sitcom,
- 8:53Speaker 5: but like where like you know, friends are everywhere and
- 8:56Speaker 5: like I don't know, I just like I would.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Be stoked basically as my you know what you do
- 9:00Speaker 3: like as much as you're like, oh I wish I
- 9:02Speaker 3: was better at this or that, Like you have such
- 9:04Speaker 3: a wholesome life of like all your friends like and
- 9:06Speaker 3: you prioritize them and like you just live life doing
- 9:10Speaker 3: the things that make you happy. Thank you. She'd be proud.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I think she'd be pretty happy, Like, Okay, what about you?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Why not a doctor? Thirteen year old me would be
- 9:21Speaker 3: like we did what?
- 9:24Speaker 6: Why?
- 9:25Speaker 3: Like public speaking at thirteen terrifying. I know that I've
- 9:28Speaker 3: said on the podcast before that I used to be
- 9:31Speaker 3: like the debating team captain, like girl stuff. I did
- 9:35Speaker 3: that because I was so nervous to speak in front
- 9:37Speaker 3: of groups. And my dad when he was growing up,
- 9:41Speaker 3: he actually had a stutter. And one of the things
- 9:43Speaker 3: he did to help that he did like toastmasters and
- 9:46Speaker 3: public speaking and stuff. So he always was like Victoria, like,
- 9:49Speaker 3: to get some more confidence, you should go and do like,
- 9:51Speaker 3: you know, put yourself out of your comfort zone. Debating
- 9:54Speaker 3: would be a really good way of doing that. You know,
- 9:55Speaker 3: the public speaking like group at all, the club at school,
- 9:59Speaker 3: that would be a really good thing for you. And
- 10:00Speaker 3: so I always kind of like followed that, but not
- 10:02Speaker 3: because I enjoyed it, but because I thought I had
- 10:05Speaker 3: to because like, you know, that was good for my development.
- 10:09Speaker 3: What do you mean it's my career, dad, What have
- 10:12Speaker 3: you done? You a whole new path? Yeah, and I
- 10:15Speaker 3: agree with you, Jess. I think I had this very
- 10:17Speaker 3: stereotypical idea that i'd wake up, like I think I'd
- 10:19Speaker 3: be confused about why I have babies right now, Like
- 10:22Speaker 3: not because I didn't want kids, but why are they're
- 10:25Speaker 3: not in school? Yeah, Like in my head, I was
- 10:27Speaker 3: meant to have kids when I was like much younger.
- 10:30Speaker 3: So like if I woke up, you know, in suddenly
- 10:33Speaker 3: thirty and I was today years old, which is nearly
- 10:36Speaker 3: thirty five aged exactly. She told me, I think we
- 10:47Speaker 3: were on a zoom and we were crazy about you know,
- 10:50Speaker 3: I'm going to throw Kiara under the bus to the
- 10:52Speaker 3: community that loves her, because Kiara is our community manager
- 10:55Speaker 3: and she is an angel, Like she reads every single
- 10:58Speaker 3: DM and makes that you get the resource that you
- 11:01Speaker 3: need right, Like she spent so long even in our
- 11:04Speaker 3: group chats on she's on the money being like, oh hey,
- 11:07Speaker 3: I just got this damn from someone and like I've
- 11:08Speaker 3: sent them this and this, but like, what else could
- 11:11Speaker 3: I provide them with? She's an icon. She cares about
- 11:14Speaker 3: us so much, and then she did us dirty, so dirty.
- 11:17Speaker 3: She's like, oh yeah, like the demographics of she's on
- 11:20Speaker 3: the money. Oh between I think it was like we
- 11:22Speaker 3: were talking about the demographic of between the ages of
- 11:25Speaker 3: twenty five and thirty five. She's like, yeah, like thirty
- 11:28Speaker 3: five middle aged and I was like, excu wooose me.
- 11:32Speaker 3: You're gonna go jump in front of a car. It
- 11:35Speaker 3: was like, and did you see the way I jumped down?
- 11:37Speaker 3: I was like, care, take that back. The girl doubled down.
- 11:41Speaker 3: She was like, no, no year old?
- 11:43Speaker 4: Oh god.
- 11:44Speaker 3: And you know what she said to me the other day.
- 11:46Speaker 3: She goes, hey, Victoria, she was feeling in a form
- 11:48Speaker 3: for me and needed my driver's license and like my age,
- 11:52Speaker 3: and she goes, did you know you're like a full
- 11:55Speaker 3: decade older than me? And I was like, oh, why
- 11:58Speaker 3: are you pointing this out? And she goes, because it's
- 12:01Speaker 3: really funny. In ten years, Kia is going to be like, Wow,
- 12:05Speaker 3: this is not middle aged. I can't wait to come
- 12:07Speaker 3: for you Kiara in ten years and be like, how's
- 12:09Speaker 3: being middle aged feel?
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Except from my deathbat. Anyway, I think thirteen year old
- 12:15Speaker 3: me would be confused, but I also think she'd be
- 12:17Speaker 3: insanely proud, Like how cool would it be? Like you
- 12:21Speaker 3: just explained how proud thirteen year old you would be.
- 12:24Speaker 3: If we could go back and be like, hey, thirteen
- 12:26Speaker 3: year old me, stop being so self conscious, Like every
- 12:29Speaker 3: thirteen year old is deeply self conscious, and I don't know,
- 12:34Speaker 3: go back and like pat baby jess and be like
- 12:36Speaker 3: it's going to be all good. Yeah, maybe true, you're
- 12:38Speaker 3: like really sick once you get to thirty. Yeah, you're
- 12:41Speaker 3: actually like real cool.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Some dudes stopped you in the supermarket the other day
- 12:46Speaker 3: and said, are you Jessica from She's on the Money? Incredible?
- 12:50Speaker 3: All right, Well, I think that was a little bit
- 12:52Speaker 3: of a throwback. If you guys have a question for us,
- 12:54Speaker 3: please send it through. And it definitely doesn't have to
- 12:57Speaker 3: be finance related either, as you've just heard. It literally
- 13:00Speaker 3: be about one of your favorite rom com movies and franchises.
- 13:03Speaker 3: We don't care. We're taking all questions now, Miss Jessicgriuchi.
- 13:08Speaker 3: How are they Has the community had any spectacular money
- 13:11Speaker 3: wins this week?
- 13:12Speaker 4: Oh?
- 13:12Speaker 3: They always do.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Firstly, this week Kayla said, I've secured a permanent role
- 13:15Speaker 4: within the team. I've been working for the last two
- 13:18Speaker 4: years on a casual fixed CHAM contract, so I now
- 13:20Speaker 4: get extra super and great leave benefits money weird.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Steph said she just brought.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Her first home congratulations, and she found six pavers at
- 13:30Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure that the Bunning's handwriting.
- 13:32Speaker 3: She said.
- 13:33Speaker 4: They're perfect for stepping zones.
- 13:34Speaker 3: The Bunnings handwriting, Jess really do be thirty Literally, giant
- 13:40Speaker 3: pavers do go in your ground? Oh yeah, that is
- 13:42Speaker 3: the Bunnings handwriting. Hell yeah, that is fifty cents a paver.
- 13:46Speaker 4: So she paid a grand total of three dollars to
- 13:48Speaker 4: pay her path in her front hour.
- 13:49Speaker 3: That's really cute. How it is that money win?
- 13:53Speaker 4: Jackie said she went to see a new horror movie
- 13:55Speaker 4: called Obsession for a dollar thanks to muber one.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Really want to see that? Oh see a dollar to
- 14:00Speaker 3: not go?
- 14:01Speaker 4: Literally? I don't say me up. Really, I have not
- 14:03Speaker 4: watched a horror movie since I was in high school.
- 14:05Speaker 3: But it's like eerie.
- 14:07Speaker 4: Nah, that's worse.
- 14:08Speaker 3: I don't want to be scared at all. I'm the
- 14:09Speaker 3: same as Jes. So do you not like watching movies
- 14:11Speaker 3: that carry suspense, which is okay, kind of funny because
- 14:14Speaker 3: I love true crime, but like, I know that that
- 14:17Speaker 3: crime has already happened and done and passed, and we're
- 14:20Speaker 3: just talking about something that happened. You're not like trying
- 14:22Speaker 3: to make me suspenseful the second you put me in
- 14:24Speaker 3: a situation of suspense, Like, I'm still traumatized from the
- 14:27Speaker 3: time and don't ask how this happened. I used to
- 14:31Speaker 3: have a friend. Her name was Emily, and she loved horror.
- 14:34Speaker 3: I knew that about her. And she was like, do
- 14:36Speaker 3: you want to go to the movies one day? And
- 14:37Speaker 3: I was like, would love to go to the movies.
- 14:39Speaker 3: That would be fantastic, And she's like, I want to
- 14:42Speaker 3: see The Conjuring. Oh no, And I was like, great,
- 14:47Speaker 3: sounds good. At that point in time, I didn't know
- 14:50Speaker 3: what conjuring was as a word. I didn't know that
- 14:53Speaker 3: that was a very very bad horror movie, very scary.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I get to the cinemas, I'm excited. I've got my
- 14:59Speaker 3: pop and I've put my mald teesers in the popcorn.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I was there to have a good time. I'm still traumatized.
- 15:05Speaker 4: Yeah, to this day, I won't be doing that, But
- 15:07Speaker 4: I wonder the movie ticket sounds very good. Thank you
- 15:09Speaker 4: for the heads up, Jackie. Then Kylie said, I got
- 15:12Speaker 4: an email that said I overpaid my loan and they're
- 15:14Speaker 4: refunding me a grand total of sixteen cents.
- 15:17Speaker 3: You know what, I'll take it. Oh, it need a win.
- 15:19Speaker 3: So what I'm hearing is the loan's paid off. Queen, Yes,
- 15:22Speaker 3: snaps for you.
- 15:24Speaker 4: Shelby said, my friend from work is we a kitchen
- 15:27Speaker 4: renovation and she's giving me all of the stuff from
- 15:29Speaker 4: her kitchen so that she can buy new stuff. So
- 15:31Speaker 4: she's gotten quite a lot of kitchen set up out
- 15:34Speaker 4: of it, and she was looking at buying it. Anyway's money,
- 15:37Speaker 4: we genuine money, we really good money in And then
- 15:39Speaker 4: lastly this week, Jasmine said she went mini golfing and
- 15:42Speaker 4: saw online that there was a family entry price. When
- 15:45Speaker 4: they arrived, they tried to charge her family individual ticket prices,
- 15:49Speaker 4: so she asked about the family ticket, which they then
- 15:51Speaker 4: gave her, which saved her twenty eight dollars.
- 15:54Speaker 3: Why of it all, you can't assume that they'll tell
- 15:58Speaker 3: you the best deal.
- 15:59Speaker 4: You've got to know what the best deal is.
- 16:00Speaker 3: Yes, so true, which is dog as hell and the
- 16:03Speaker 3: best deal is usually just on the mac is app,
- 16:05Speaker 3: not sponsored, but like, I just order through the MACS app. Now,
- 16:09Speaker 3: I used to think it was really annoying when you
- 16:11Speaker 3: got to the check That was how I feel. Yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 3: when you got to like the drive through and they
- 16:15Speaker 3: go are you using my MACS app today? And you
- 16:17Speaker 3: go no, And then you're like, can I just auder
- 16:19Speaker 3: in my chicken? Yeah? Jess, the deals sorry, I'm not
- 16:25Speaker 3: going to give them any more airtime on this podcast.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Call me McDonald's. We can do some deals. Yeah, but
- 16:32Speaker 3: as a fan of your app, Okay, you've really convinced me.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Because I was the same. I was like, it's no way. Sorry.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I think it was like seventeen ninety five. The other day,
- 16:39Speaker 3: my sister and I go through drive three. She's the
- 16:41Speaker 3: one that convoided me. She was like, vitera, you've got
- 16:43Speaker 3: to get on this. And like, if my sister says something,
- 16:45Speaker 3: she's like the cooler version of me. Like I still
- 16:48Speaker 3: said I should do it. Seventeen dollars, large chips, large coke,
- 16:53Speaker 3: three burgers, what oh wow, I don't know why. I
- 16:57Speaker 3: don't know why, but we'll take it. And then we
- 17:00Speaker 3: shared our chips and our cocaine had one point fives each. Anyway,
- 17:05Speaker 3: moving on from that, that is literally so good, Miss
- 17:09Speaker 3: Beck sayeed, Yes, some of our broke tips are the

- 17:54Speaker 4: yeah and like a verb Arenown.
- 17:57Speaker 3: And, also just to be very clear with our, COMMUNITY
- 18:00Speaker 3: i banned anonymous posts in Our facebook group and a

- 18:09Speaker 3: AND i don't want to share with. Them, OKAY i
- 18:11Speaker 3: fully get, that but more often than, not when it
- 18:14Speaker 3: came to anonymous comments and anonymous, questions they were anonymous
- 18:18Speaker 3: because they were incredibly, specific and you were, like, WELL
- 18:20Speaker 3: i don't want to put my name to. It but
- 18:22Speaker 3: if that's the question and it is too, specific that
- 18:26Speaker 3: then borders on us giving financial advice and breaching our
- 18:29Speaker 3: financial services. License but then on the other flip, SIDE

- 18:51Speaker 3: in or their, confession say it with your. Name that is.

- 18:59Speaker 3: Yeah is it because you're saying something not so? Kind
- 19:02Speaker 3: And i'm seeing so many unkind comments pop. Up now

- 19:23Speaker 3: it hides from, everyone it does except for the admins
- 19:26Speaker 3: of that. Group, wow, OKAY i see. YOU i see.
- 19:29Speaker 3: That that's not very. KIND i just blocked and deleted

- 20:32Speaker 3: i paid full price for, them but, like, No i'm
- 20:34Speaker 3: not going to throw them under a. Bus but they
- 20:35Speaker 3: are very expensive. HANDS i keep buying pants and they
- 20:38Speaker 3: keep not. PANTING i, Know I'M i don't understand the.

- 20:47Speaker 5: ones From kmart and they always will be and they
- 20:48Speaker 5: always have.

- 20:52Speaker 3: become a convert Because i'm able to dry fry pan
- 20:54Speaker 3: through my back window right, now trust. Me and you
- 20:58Speaker 3: can't even go. Wrong you, know some of, Them you've
- 20:59Speaker 3: got to heat them up to a certain. Level you
- 21:00Speaker 3: gotta make sure That i've bought the expensive ceramic non
- 21:04Speaker 3: stick ones BECAUSE i was trying to be. Healthy why you? Stick?
- 21:08Speaker 3: Yeah why DID i use half a cup of? Oil

- 21:16Speaker 4: they're good and then they just go to.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Happen, no, queen that's. EXPENSIVE i do not want to
- 21:20Speaker 3: be buying them every. Year if you've had your fry

- 21:34Speaker 3: free does it matter if it becomes nonstick?
- 21:36Speaker 5: Totally the sex one comes From kelly who, says just
- 21:39Speaker 5: a reminder that you can convert Your telstra points to
- 21:41Speaker 5: woolas gift. Cards did mine this week and got one
- 21:44Speaker 5: hundred and seventy dollars in gift cards for our.
- 21:46Speaker 3: GROCERIES i did not.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Know, yes that's so.
- 21:49Speaker 5: GOOD i don't even know What telstra points, are But
- 21:51Speaker 5: i'm assuming if you have a telstraphone or A Telstra
- 21:53Speaker 5: internet when you know what they, are and so hopefully
- 21:57Speaker 5: that's helpful for you.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Exactly and what's your broke?
- 21:59Speaker 5: Tip my, friend there is this couple that went to
- 22:01Speaker 5: a public library to book their, flights and they, said
- 22:05Speaker 5: it's like it works out. Cheaper and then someone stitched
- 22:08Speaker 5: that video and, said, HEY i tried, it it, works
- 22:11Speaker 5: so it must.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Be somebody like THE i, know you know when you
- 22:14Speaker 3: like log in and you like try, yes and so like.
- 22:17Speaker 5: When you like try and find flights on your own
- 22:19Speaker 5: laptop and then you go back to try and find them,
- 22:20Speaker 5: again they're like more.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Expensive but if you go.
- 22:22Speaker 5: To a public, library apparently it's just LIKE i don't
- 22:25Speaker 5: know if it's like the cheapest you can, find but
- 22:26Speaker 5: it's like very very, cheap or it's like at least
- 22:28Speaker 5: very reasonably.
- 22:29Speaker 3: Priced so definitely try. That if you're not having luck
- 22:32Speaker 3: on your own, laptop go to a public library and do.
- 22:35Speaker 2: IT i love.
- 22:35Speaker 3: IT i literally only use LIKE i only book flights
- 22:39Speaker 3: in incognito mode on my life. Totally, anyway that's pretty,
- 22:43Speaker 3: Exciting AND i just don't know how you discovered, That
- 22:45Speaker 3: like how someone was, like, oh the flights are expensive at,
- 22:48Speaker 3: Home i'm gonna go see they're cheaper at the. LIBRARY i, know.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Totally i'm sure that would have been an. Accident and
- 22:52Speaker 3: sometimes we do find the best broke tips by. Accident
- 22:56Speaker 3: after the, break we will be discussing a money dilemma about,
- 22:58Speaker 3: shares specifically shares that have landed writing your, lap so
- 23:02Speaker 3: guys don't go. Anywhere welcome, back. Everybody let's take a
- 23:09Speaker 3: listen to this week's money. Dilemma, hi, there have you

- 23:21Speaker 6: small to answer your most burning, money career and life.

- 23:27Speaker 6: leave us a short voice recording and you might just
- 23:29Speaker 6: find yourself on the. Show, now let's take a listen
- 23:32Speaker 6: to this week's money. Dilemma, Hi she's on The.
- 23:36Speaker 2: Money i've got a question regarding. SHARES i was gifted
- 23:42Speaker 2: some shares WHEN i turned, eighteen WHICH i thought were.
- 23:44Speaker 2: ETFs that turns out that they are ric's or listed
- 23:49Speaker 2: investment company shares In. Argo the condition of getting them
- 23:54Speaker 2: as a gift is THAT i can't sell, them and
- 23:55Speaker 2: they're currently seeing it about forty thousand, dollars which is pretty.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Good but just want to want to doferences and SHOULD
- 24:01Speaker 2: i actually be continuing to put money into this or
- 24:03Speaker 2: SHOULD i be focusing on? ETFs is there a big
- 24:06Speaker 2: difference in the Money i'm going to make thank.
- 24:08Speaker 3: You i'm going to, SAY i don't really. Know, NO
- 24:11Speaker 3: i don't know the answer to this, one AND i
- 24:13Speaker 3: just pass that one right across to what about? BECK i,
- 24:19Speaker 3: mean if you like, IT i CAN fa do you?
- 24:23Speaker 3: INSTEAD i do, Know So i'm very happy to take
- 24:27Speaker 3: one for the. Team you know. What it is so
- 24:30Speaker 3: nice to still be wanted and, needed and sometimes you
- 24:33Speaker 3: guys answer the questions so well That i'm, LIKE i
- 24:35Speaker 3: Guess i'll see myself. Out so a listed investment company
- 24:40Speaker 3: versus an exchange traded fund basically boils down to a
- 24:43Speaker 3: choice between active, management which is usually focused on creating
- 24:49Speaker 3: a reliable, income and then passive management that is focused
- 24:53Speaker 3: on tracking the market at a low, cost which is AN.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Etf so that's an active and passive as OF i
- 24:59Speaker 3: gues this year that INVESTMENT rgo is one of you would,
- 25:05Speaker 3: Say australia's largest, LICs which actually has about eight billion
- 25:10Speaker 3: dollars in, it which is not something THAT i don't.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Know if you've never heard of, it you might be, like, oh,
- 25:15Speaker 3: Risky OH i don't, Know LIKE i don't know What argo.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Like it's pretty damn, big so it's not a risky.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Investment and have forty thousand dollars in, IT ah snaps for.
- 25:24Speaker 2: You that's.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Incredible but when it comes down TO i guess rgo
- 25:29Speaker 3: and not being able to sell. It they are a
- 25:31Speaker 3: closed end, company so unlike AN etf that you can just,
- 25:35Speaker 3: like which is open, ended you can just jump on
- 25:39Speaker 3: tracks the, market you, know sell it. Tomorrow this means
- 25:42Speaker 3: That argo has a fixed number of shares which does
- 25:46Speaker 3: trade on THE asx like any other, stock but the
- 25:48Speaker 3: share price can trade at a, discount so it's cheaper
- 25:51Speaker 3: or a premium which is more expensive to its tangible,
- 25:54Speaker 3: assets which is AN nta of its actual. Value so
- 25:59Speaker 3: it's different management. Style i'm interested as to why you're
- 26:02Speaker 3: not allowed to sell, it if that makes. Sense like
- 26:05Speaker 3: they've got a pretty good like active management, fee so
- 26:09Speaker 3: ON rg you're looking at maybe point one four, percent
- 26:15Speaker 3: whereas A etf is maybe point one zero, Percent so
- 26:19Speaker 3: like not that much of a, Difference but why can't
- 26:23Speaker 3: you sell?
- 26:23Speaker 4: It like could it be a condition Of like if
- 26:25Speaker 4: it was an, inheritance could it be you inherit, This, well.
- 26:28Speaker 3: Let's go with, that because it might be, like, A
- 26:30Speaker 3: i can't sell it because of, this but the tax
- 26:33Speaker 3: implications on those assets are the. Same, like you, know
- 26:37Speaker 3: if you've held that asset for more than twelve, months
- 26:40Speaker 3: you'll get YOUR cgt fifty percent discount as of right.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Now that might change in a, year but in saying,
- 26:46Speaker 3: that it's important to know that those changes won't affect
- 26:48Speaker 3: your existing. Portfolio they'll be called. Grandfathered so you might
- 26:52Speaker 3: have heard this term flying, around but grandfather ing basically, means, Hey,
- 26:56Speaker 3: beck if you owned this asset today and you want
- 26:59Speaker 3: to sell it, tomorrow but you change the rules, tomorrow
- 27:02Speaker 3: you still get to use the old rules because we're
- 27:04Speaker 3: not going to like pull the rug out from underneath.
- 27:06Speaker 3: You but if you want to go and purchase a
- 27:09Speaker 3: new asset next week and the rules have, changed you
- 27:12Speaker 3: have to abide by the new. Rules, yeah and you, go,
- 27:14Speaker 3: okay no. Worries so the rules should be the same on.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Both but if you're, saying, oh DO i keep investing
- 27:21Speaker 3: into this, asset, well that's a purely personal, question right
- 27:25Speaker 3: because it's not an issue of whether you have ETFs
- 27:29Speaker 3: or this managed. Portfolio it's more, like does it align
- 27:32Speaker 3: to your? Goals does it align to your? Values did
- 27:34Speaker 3: you want to diversify further and have more? ETFs, also
- 27:37Speaker 3: if you're going to keep, investing the rules might change
- 27:41Speaker 3: later down the, track but it will only change for
- 27:43Speaker 3: the assets that you purchase after that. Date so for,
- 27:47Speaker 3: me a little from COLUMN, a a little from COLUMN.
- 27:50Speaker 3: B they're both genuine assets that people invest in on
- 27:55Speaker 3: THE asx.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Is AN L i see the same as AN etf
- 27:58Speaker 4: in that it invests in many. Things, yes it can
- 28:01Speaker 4: be SO rg. Investments they then pick a lot. More
- 28:05Speaker 4: their liquidity is, high which is Why i'm kind of
- 28:08Speaker 4: confused about her SAYING i can't sell. Them maybe it's
- 28:11Speaker 4: just because it was purchased by somebody else and it
- 28:13Speaker 4: was a gift and you obviously wouldn't sell a gift
- 28:15Speaker 4: and get rid of.
- 28:15Speaker 3: It but, yes they are very similar in that. Aspect
- 28:19Speaker 3: it's just very active. Management like it's a listed company
- 28:23Speaker 3: and you know you get fully franked income from it
- 28:26Speaker 3: above higher capital. Growth so, wait can she just never sell?
- 28:30Speaker 3: It we don't, Know, well we don't. Know like IF,
- 28:33Speaker 3: i LIKE i could go and purchase our go, today
- 28:36Speaker 3: LIKE i could jump on my phone open my shares
- 28:37Speaker 3: exap and purchase SOME rgo and that would be. Good
- 28:39Speaker 3: but that's AN, lic not AN. Etf it's just a different.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Asset it's like How jess could go and buy a
- 28:45Speaker 3: direct share or AN etf should purchase it any exactly
- 28:48Speaker 3: the same. Way same with ariits so real estate investment,
- 28:52Speaker 3: trusts like you could go and buy one of those
- 28:54Speaker 3: on THE, asex or you could buy a. Bond there
- 28:56Speaker 3: are lots of different things that are for sale on THE.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Asex they're not all made the, same they're not all,
- 29:00Speaker 3: equal but they trade the. Same so that's Why i'm
- 29:03Speaker 3: a bit confused about her inability to dispose of that.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Asset got you got you got to sho.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Get into THIS speachducdm, though, absolutely AND i might do
- 29:11Speaker 4: some more research on.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Argo from a personal, Perspective i'm, like why have you got?
- 29:14Speaker 3: That SHOULD i have?
- 29:15Speaker 4: That?
- 29:16Speaker 3: YEAH i feel that way every time someone mentioned SOMETHING
- 29:18Speaker 3: i don't. Own, anyway we are going to look into my.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Dms every week we unpack a dilemma from OUR, dms
- 29:24Speaker 3: and this one describes being caught between a rock and
- 29:26Speaker 3: a hard. Place, hi she's on the. MONEY i have
- 29:29Speaker 3: a community. QUESTION i currently am in a really well
- 29:33Speaker 3: paying mining, job which has changed my money story and
- 29:36Speaker 3: helped me get out of debt and start. Investing, however
- 29:40Speaker 3: it was never meant to be a permanent, fix AS
- 29:42Speaker 3: i have a unique degree THAT i want to. Follow
- 29:44Speaker 3: my mind is closing in two, years and my original
- 29:46Speaker 3: plan was to stay until it closed and then follow
- 29:49Speaker 3: my dream. Career but LATELY i have found the site
- 29:51Speaker 3: is literally sucking the life out of. ME i find
- 29:54Speaker 3: myself mentally and physically. Drained after a week of, Work
- 29:57Speaker 3: i'm calling and, Sick i'm crying in the, bathrooms AND
- 29:59Speaker 3: i genuinely just dread going to. WORK i really want to.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Leave my, issue, though is IF i dip out of
- 30:04Speaker 3: my plans, Early i'm quite literally missing out on three
- 30:08Speaker 3: hundred thousand dollars plus over a two year, period not
- 30:12Speaker 3: including WHAT i get from my, investments my bank, interest my,
- 30:15Speaker 3: superannuation which in today's financial climate seems very risky and
- 30:19Speaker 3: scarce the living daylights out of. Me my question is
- 30:22Speaker 3: what would most people do dip out of my financial
- 30:25Speaker 3: plan early and lose that amount of money or tolerate
- 30:28Speaker 3: for the long term. Gain what would you guys?
- 30:30Speaker 5: DO i am curious about the three hundred thousand, Dollars,
- 30:35Speaker 5: like are they taking.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Like in salary earning one hundred and fifty grand a?
- 30:40Speaker 5: Year okay in that case of, coursely BUT i, KNOW
- 30:45Speaker 5: i understand it feels like a huge amount of. Money
- 30:47Speaker 5: But i'm, like also with that kind of salary and
- 30:51Speaker 5: maybe with the experience you've, gained like do you have
- 30:53Speaker 5: to stay? There like can you look for a similar,
- 30:56Speaker 5: job but just like with a completely different team travels
- 30:59Speaker 5: somewhere else in austra you know WHAT i. MEAN i
- 31:00Speaker 5: feel like that your main priority should be to definitely look,
- 31:05Speaker 5: elsewhere BECAUSE i totally not feeling like crying in the
- 31:08Speaker 5: bathrooms you like seek to your. Stomach you don't want
- 31:10Speaker 5: to go like you don't want to like sacrifice your
- 31:12Speaker 5: mental health because it also feels like right now it's you,
- 31:15Speaker 5: Know i'll Eventually i'll be, fine but that long term negative,
- 31:19Speaker 5: effect like it doesn't just feel, like, Oh i'm just
- 31:21Speaker 5: gonna be anxious UNTIL i. Finish it's like that will
- 31:23Speaker 5: bleed into like every part of your life and you
- 31:25Speaker 5: might like not even realize it right, now but you'll
- 31:28Speaker 5: be maybe isolating. Yourself maybe you will come back to
- 31:31Speaker 5: feeling better one. Day and then be like where doll
- 31:33Speaker 5: my friends. Go all these things will just bleed into other.
- 31:36Speaker 5: THINGS i think that your mental health is always number, one,
- 31:38Speaker 5: Always so try and find a job that's WITHIN i,
- 31:42Speaker 5: guess like maybe the same, sector but just a different
- 31:45Speaker 5: team or. Something even if it's like a pay, cut
- 31:47Speaker 5: it really doesn't. Matter if it's like you're working and
- 31:50Speaker 5: there's a big bonus.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Of three hundred thousand, dollars maybe that would change my.
- 31:53Speaker 3: Answer but if it just if it's, salary you can
- 31:56Speaker 3: find that or even something within, that even if it's ninety.
- 31:59Speaker 4: K i'm interpreting her message. Though she said that she
- 32:03Speaker 4: could leave and she would take a pay, cut and
- 32:05Speaker 4: that pay cut would. Result so my understanding of her
- 32:08Speaker 4: message is that in taking a new, job she's sacrificing
- 32:12Speaker 4: three hundred thousand dollars of ad. Dish, yeah not she
- 32:15Speaker 4: earns one hundred and fifty grand a.
- 32:17Speaker 3: YAR i, see that's JUST i thought that was. Good
- 32:20Speaker 3: she's better.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Wicked well, yeah but that's just how based on what she,
- 32:24Speaker 4: said my assumption even, then, yeah.
- 32:28Speaker 5: Even THEN i THINK i, would, YEAH i would bounce for,
- 32:30Speaker 5: sure because it's just it's, like what is. Money it's
- 32:33Speaker 5: a man made. Thing your mental health is the most.
- 32:35Speaker 3: IMPORTANT i.
- 32:37Speaker 4: AGREE i think that's the correct, Answer like it's the
- 32:40Speaker 4: ANSWER i. LIKE i think you've got to prioritize your mental,
- 32:43Speaker 4: health AND i agree with everything that you. Said if
- 32:45Speaker 4: you're asking WHAT i personally would, DO i Fear i'm
- 32:48Speaker 4: sticking it. Out like to be completely, HONEST i Think
- 32:52Speaker 4: i'm someone who's quite good at, compartmentalizing AND i think as,
- 32:55Speaker 4: well that's. TERRIFYING i THINK i look at it as
- 32:59Speaker 4: short term, pain long term, Gain LIKE i talk about
- 33:01Speaker 4: that right, Now Like i'm working two jobs And i'm
- 33:03Speaker 4: working more THAN i need to for, sure and it's
- 33:06Speaker 4: definitely stretching me out kind of quite a. Bit But
- 33:10Speaker 4: i'm going same as our, LISTENER i have an. End
- 33:13Speaker 4: i'm doing it through till when my house build is,
- 33:15Speaker 4: done And i'm going short term, paign long term. Gain
- 33:18Speaker 4: it'll have been about a year by the time it's all,
- 33:20Speaker 4: done and it's not been the. Easiest but at the same,
- 33:24Speaker 4: TIME i THINK i am prioritizing that.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Goal you deeply depressed me.
- 33:30Speaker 4: As a very Different you, KNOW i have worked jobs
- 33:33Speaker 4: WHERE i have been pretty, miserable and it would tell,
- 33:36Speaker 4: me right you, know LIKE covid or something like that
- 33:40Speaker 4: WHEN i was depressed and it WAS i, mean it's
- 33:43Speaker 4: a little bit different because it was a very different
- 33:45Speaker 4: job market and all those sorts of. Things but that's
- 33:47Speaker 4: just WHO i am as a, person AND i don't
- 33:48Speaker 4: necessarily condone. That and that's WHY i SAID i don't
- 33:50Speaker 4: think my answer is the correct. ANSWER i think like
- 33:53Speaker 4: in an ideal, world everyone absolutely puts their mental health.
- 33:56Speaker 4: First because you're so, bright it affects. Everything but also,
- 33:59Speaker 4: like If i'm really, honest there's not a LOT i
- 34:02Speaker 4: wouldn't do for three hundred GRAND i.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Mean the way that that could set.
- 34:06Speaker 4: You what?
- 34:07Speaker 3: Else like what's the? Bank how DO i get out of?
- 34:14Speaker 2: This what do you?
- 34:15Speaker 4: Think?
- 34:16Speaker 3: Oh you, GUYS i want more. Context not BECAUSE i
- 34:19Speaker 3: want more, context but like it sounds like you're burning.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Out it also sounds like you used to love this
- 34:25Speaker 3: job and now you don't want's? Changed like is there
- 34:28Speaker 3: somebody at work that's being nasty to? You if you're
- 34:30Speaker 3: crying in the? Bathrooms my, queen OBVIOUSLY i want you to,
- 34:32Speaker 3: Leave but like you're, asking like DO i just push?
- 34:36Speaker 3: Through but like what are we pushing? Through like do
- 34:39Speaker 3: we need to go talk to, aha like do we
- 34:41Speaker 3: need to fix something about this role or are you
- 34:44Speaker 3: genuinely just like burnt out from work and like it's
- 34:47Speaker 3: overwhelming and all consuming and like that's what's like five verys,
- 34:51Speaker 3: tough it's very. Demanded, Yeah like do you need to
- 34:53Speaker 3: take some stress leave or do you need to talk
- 34:54Speaker 3: to your work about some reduced? Hours like if we
- 34:57Speaker 3: Take jess's assumption that it's additional three hundred, grand yes
- 35:01Speaker 3: that's a lot of, money but reduced, hours you'd still
- 35:05Speaker 3: be earning a lot of. Money so do you want
- 35:07Speaker 3: to do reduced hours for that period of? Time do
- 35:09Speaker 3: you know WHAT i? Mean is there some flexibility in?
- 35:11Speaker 3: This AND i think there's probably two questions. Here is
- 35:15Speaker 3: this burnout that maybe could improve with some leave and
- 35:19Speaker 3: showing yourself some. Grace something THAT i feel LIKE i
- 35:21Speaker 3: have to remind my friends at the moment is that
- 35:23Speaker 3: your annual leave isn't just for, Holidays like you could
- 35:26Speaker 3: take a week and rot on your couch and maybe
- 35:30Speaker 3: that's the best thing that you do for your health
- 35:32Speaker 3: and your mental health and your. Life so could we
- 35:35Speaker 3: pull some levers there or has this crossed into this
- 35:40Speaker 3: is fundamentally costing me? Too much of myself at which
- 35:43Speaker 3: point we are absolutely opting. OUT H, YEAH i think
- 35:46Speaker 3: that that's a really big question because more money obviously
- 35:50Speaker 3: buys more freedom and safety and, options but there's also
- 35:54Speaker 3: a point where no salary can actually compensate for your
- 35:56Speaker 3: mental health deteriorating long. Term so, yeah there are a
- 36:01Speaker 3: lot of questions THAT i, Have and is there any
- 36:03Speaker 3: type of LIKE eap program at your work that you
- 36:06Speaker 3: could maybe touch base with and be, like, HEY i am,
- 36:09Speaker 3: struggling what is going? On and YOUR eap program in
- 36:13Speaker 3: a mining, COMPANY i can almost guarantee they have, it
- 36:16Speaker 3: because you're not the only person in mining who's had
- 36:18Speaker 3: mental health. Issues it should be completely, anonymous like you
- 36:22Speaker 3: can call, up have a chat with a, therapist have
- 36:24Speaker 3: a chat with somebody for free to see where you're,
- 36:27Speaker 3: at which is probably WHERE i would be, at because,
- 36:31Speaker 3: like you're already changing your money story by doing, this
- 36:34Speaker 3: and maybe you're going to shoot yourself in the foot
- 36:36Speaker 3: for turning up to your next career with your best
- 36:38Speaker 3: foot forward by being burnt. Out so, like what are we?
- 36:41Speaker 3: Doing what are we? Doing, like let's get our stuff,
- 36:43Speaker 3: together but like let's make a plan.
- 36:45Speaker 4: True what everyone else?
- 36:46Speaker 3: Say so, first we asked our, community have you ever
- 36:49Speaker 3: stayed in a job purely for the financial, upside even
- 36:52Speaker 3: if it was impacting your well. BEING i feel like
- 36:54Speaker 3: the number's got to be.
- 36:55Speaker 6: High.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Yes seventy ex seven percent of you said you did fair.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Enough what's the bigger? Risk we, asked leaving early and
- 37:01Speaker 3: missing out financially or staying somewhere that is draining, you
- 37:05Speaker 3: and you guys at fifty three percent said the bigger
- 37:08Speaker 3: risk was leaving early and missing out, financially and then
- 37:11Speaker 3: forty seven percent said staying somewhere that is draining. You
- 37:14Speaker 3: we then went to the community and obviously, said, guys
- 37:18Speaker 3: what's your two? Cents very similar to what we are. Saying,
- 37:21Speaker 3: also people are, saying you wouldn't continue to run on
- 37:25Speaker 3: a broken. Leg mental health and wellbeing is a priority
- 37:28Speaker 3: because it will just get. Worse, yeah very. True someone else,
- 37:31Speaker 3: said reap the financial benefits and try to find the
- 37:34Speaker 3: light outside of work to fill your. Cup how are
- 37:36Speaker 3: you doing? That someone, said two years in the grand
- 37:39Speaker 3: scheme of things is quite. Short break it up into
- 37:42Speaker 3: six month slots and find joy. Outside another person, said
- 37:46Speaker 3: it's not actually three hundred grand as a loss if
- 37:49Speaker 3: you find another job that you enjoy for the next
- 37:51Speaker 3: two years and build a thriving. Career, mmmmm good. Point
- 37:55Speaker 3: someone else, said could that three hundred thousand dollars be
- 37:58Speaker 3: offset with any new job or is that the bonus
- 38:01Speaker 3: amount for. Staying they've got questions as. Well another person,
- 38:04Speaker 3: said don't. Forget the longer you are out OF uni
- 38:06Speaker 3: and not in a related, job the harder it is
- 38:09Speaker 3: going to. Get also that you'll always be two years
- 38:12Speaker 3: behind in the actual career you want to. Start it's.
- 38:15Speaker 3: TRUE i find this to be like self. Perpetuating WHEN
- 38:20Speaker 3: i talk to other people in similar, Situations they're, Like,
- 38:22Speaker 3: Oh i'm giving and you know your mind's closing in two,
- 38:24Speaker 3: Years so this is actually a legitimate like. Deadline, Yeah
- 38:27Speaker 3: but like people will be, Like i'll give it another
- 38:29Speaker 3: year and Then i'll take the pay. Cut are you
- 38:31Speaker 3: actually going to take the pay cut or are you
- 38:33Speaker 3: going to find another job in mining because the money's
- 38:35Speaker 3: just too damn.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Good.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Yeah someone else said start looking for other jobs and
- 38:39Speaker 3: leave when you have secured something, else and another person,
- 38:42Speaker 3: said we appreciate the highs when we experience the, Lows
- 38:46Speaker 3: so maybe sticking it out would mean that you appreciate
- 38:49Speaker 3: your career interesting in the. Future, WELL i thought that
- 38:53Speaker 3: was interesting, too and we always share like a diverse
- 38:56Speaker 3: range of. Responses and then someone else, said please just
- 39:00Speaker 3: care for your mental. Health AND i think that that's
- 39:02Speaker 3: WHERE i would like to leave. It my, Friends, yeah love,
- 39:04Speaker 3: it sending you lots of. Love, Iulp you're, okay all,
- 39:07Speaker 3: right my. Friends unfortunately that is all we have time for.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Today if you enjoyed this, EPISODE i would love. It
- 39:12Speaker 3: if you told your, friend you told your. Neighbor maybe
- 39:15Speaker 3: you just tell your. CAT i don't. Care tell someone
- 39:17Speaker 3: by the water cooler at work if they're still going
- 39:19Speaker 3: to the water cooler these. Days thank you for being
- 39:21Speaker 3: part of our community and tuning in on probably like
