- 1:17Speaker 4: her broke tips. We're going to be helping to answer
- 1:20Speaker 4: our money dilemma, which this week is about saving money
- 1:22Speaker 4: on travel and something that you slid into my dams
- 1:25Speaker 4: about were chatting this week.
- 1:27Speaker 5: About what to do when friends.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Owe you money. Oh awkward.
- 1:33Speaker 5: Yes, But before we get there, how are your weeks.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Very good this week? You know what, it's a very
- 1:38Speaker 2: good day for me because I don't know if I've
- 1:40Speaker 2: told the potty of this, but I've definitely cried to
- 1:43Speaker 2: you two about it. My cat recently had what's called
- 1:45Speaker 2: radio id in therapy treatment whatever, so he was radioactive.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Like literally, Rabel, tell the class what you did. I
- 1:53Speaker 2: did buy a Geigercounter, which I didn't even know existed.
- 1:57Speaker 2: That's rule the level. Not because I was concerned for
- 2:00Speaker 2: my own health, but because I was hoping that so
- 2:03Speaker 2: he radioactive less, so I could cuddle him sooner. Because
- 2:06Speaker 2: the holy shoe for everyone at home is he had
- 2:08Speaker 2: to spend a week at the vet, which was very
- 2:10Speaker 2: sad because I knew he'd be scared, and then for
- 2:11Speaker 2: two weeks at home we couldn't touch him and cuddle him.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Had to keep him locked out of the room, which
- 2:17Speaker 2: would have been like hello, fully, I'm so worried that
- 2:21Speaker 2: he's thought that we don't love him anymore. Anyway, I've
- 2:25Speaker 2: cried about it many a time.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Well, I locked my cat in the pantry the other
- 2:28Speaker 4: day by accident, and then in the middle of the
- 2:30Speaker 4: night here.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Says that possible.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Turns out now it was my cat in the ban
- 2:37Speaker 4: and tree. So I'm a terrible cat mum, You're a
- 2:39Speaker 4: great cat mum.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna starve to death. But yeah, it's been
- 2:44Speaker 2: a very rough three weeks because that. But today marks
- 2:47Speaker 2: the end of the three week period, so I could
- 2:49Speaker 2: officially cuddle you mentioned make sure he's not radioactive. I
- 2:54Speaker 2: was literally like, I'm not even gonna look at it
- 2:56Speaker 2: because if it's too I don't care. They said, they
- 2:59Speaker 2: said the end of three weeks if I could hug him,
- 3:00Speaker 2: So now I'm gonna hug him.
- 3:02Speaker 4: As with that, also, she did bring that Geiger counter
- 3:05Speaker 4: into the office and I tested everything.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very Did you find anything quite radioactive? No,
- 3:13Speaker 2: was quite bad.
- 3:15Speaker 4: I've just decided that the dangerous defective. Sure, it was
- 3:18Speaker 4: like fifteen And what was the dangerous? I think under
- 3:20Speaker 4: fifty is like normal every day like And what was
- 3:23Speaker 4: your measuring the day you brought him home?
- 3:25Speaker 2: Like two thousands?
- 3:26Speaker 4: My wow, he fully was radioactive Because I said to Jess,
- 3:30Speaker 4: do you reckon? Like I don't know how these things are,
- 3:32Speaker 4: but do you reckon they're just being really conservative, like
- 3:36Speaker 4: how I don't know how that really really yeah, really
- 3:40Speaker 4: radioactive really yeah. Maybe that's just showing that I am
- 3:43Speaker 4: wildly uneducated, which is true until now. And Jess brought
- 3:47Speaker 4: me a ga encounter so cute.
- 3:51Speaker 2: So that's a great day for me.
- 3:52Speaker 5: That's very nice, Jess me. You know, I've just live
- 3:55Speaker 5: and laugh and love and I have such a nice week.
- 3:58Speaker 5: I live in my new house with my friend.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It's so sweet.
- 4:02Speaker 5: It just feels like it's what I've always wanted.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Dining chairs now here we do have not.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Now Jess has brought some dining chairs, thank you so much,
- 4:08Speaker 5: so we can finally sit and but it's just like
- 4:11Speaker 5: I've always wanted that kind of lifestyle where my friends
- 4:13Speaker 5: just kind of like it's like a revolving door and there's.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Always just someone.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Someone around and it's so nice.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I really I'm really.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Happy right now.
- 4:21Speaker 2: So I love this. The front of your new house
- 4:24Speaker 2: fully attached, unlike.
- 4:25Speaker 5: The last Yes, shockingly, and we've never I've never been
- 4:30Speaker 5: you know, I've never had a house it's not detached,
- 4:32Speaker 5: and every corner it kind of does and it's still
- 4:35Speaker 5: it's a very old house and it definitely plants personality
- 4:38Speaker 5: personally and the liner is like fully coming up and
- 4:40Speaker 5: that's but that's okay because the house is attached at
- 4:43Speaker 5: every corner and that's all.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Thank you. Yeah, just like chuck it.
- 4:48Speaker 5: We just chucked a rug over it.
- 4:50Speaker 2: That's perfect.
- 4:51Speaker 5: Then, yes, stunning absolutely has my went good.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I've been in the office.
- 4:56Speaker 5: We've been just working our lives away.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I feel like because we had Jacqueline, one of our
- 5:01Speaker 4: mortgage brokers, on the podcast, honestly such a great episode,
- 5:05Speaker 4: but that did spike a little bit more interest, so
- 5:08Speaker 4: we have been run off our feet, which we are
- 5:10Speaker 4: very grateful for.
- 5:11Speaker 5: We have a hit more like.
- 5:12Speaker 4: First home Buyers in the Weekings, which I don't know,
- 5:14Speaker 4: it's just there's something special about helping people get into
- 5:17Speaker 4: their first homes or like, one thing that I thought
- 5:20Speaker 4: a lot of people learned from that episode is that
- 5:22Speaker 4: you don't need to have your deposit before you speak
- 5:24Speaker 4: to a broker. And I think a lot of us think, oh,
- 5:27Speaker 4: I don't want to really waste someone's time or have
- 5:29Speaker 4: a chat, but we're speaking to some people who are like, oh,
- 5:32Speaker 4: I would love to buy a house and it's.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Just a good week.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Yeah, I've just been working, guys, that's it, just working lady. Yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 4: do you want because my week hasn't been arguably as
- 5:43Speaker 4: exciting as it could be. But you know what, he's exciting?
- 5:46Speaker 4: Five star review Yes, are you ready ready? This is
- 5:49Speaker 4: cloder is their username. Five star review says I was
- 5:55Speaker 4: first introduced to She's on the Money three years ago
- 5:57Speaker 4: when my sister handed me their first book. Ever since then,
- 6:00Speaker 4: I have listened to this podcast religiously. My money story
- 6:04Speaker 4: has completely changed for the better. I feel so educated
- 6:07Speaker 4: and empowered. Never in my wildest dreams did I think
- 6:10Speaker 4: I would be investing and have a property.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Oh, here we are.
- 6:15Speaker 5: The episodes have something for everyone. I won't lie.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I do sometimes have to replay things back so I
- 6:20Speaker 4: can understand them. But the dynamics of the team really
- 6:23Speaker 4: helped to make this podcast accessible to all. Even my
- 6:26Speaker 4: boyfriend loves when I play this in the car. Thanks ladies,
- 6:30Speaker 4: we love a little bit of girl power.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Love soad.
- 6:35Speaker 4: It's just the idea that you didn't think you were
- 6:37Speaker 4: going to invest or, you didn't think you would own property.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's what should go so sick.
- 6:42Speaker 2: It's actually just so cool.
- 6:44Speaker 5: That people are like, oh, I did it myself. I
- 6:46Speaker 5: just needed a little bit of a kick. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 6:50Speaker 5: I'll do that for really cool fun. Congratulations. I'm so
- 6:54Speaker 5: excited about that. But another exciting thing is the Facebook group. Yes,
- 6:58Speaker 5: every single week we drop a thread where you can
- 7:01Speaker 5: share your money wins and confessions, and then you pick
- 7:03Speaker 5: a handful of them to share on the show. What
- 7:06Speaker 5: have you raked in this week? Alrighty?
- 7:08Speaker 2: Firstly, I've got one this week from Catherine, who said
- 7:10Speaker 2: today is the first time ever in over a decade.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I haven't had two kids in childcare. Oh my gosh.
- 7:17Speaker 2: That must be very relieving. She'll be saving over twelve
- 7:21Speaker 2: thousand dollars a year alone just in daycare expenses, which
- 7:24Speaker 2: is pretty incredible. And there is a light at the
- 7:26Speaker 2: end of the tunnel for all the parents who are
- 7:27Speaker 2: pulling double duty currently. Next, I've got a money win
- 7:30Speaker 2: from Aloise, who said she recently discovered that her gym
- 7:33Speaker 2: has those full body massage ches and apparently they're amazing.
- 7:38Speaker 2: She says she now does like two massages a week
- 7:40Speaker 2: and she doesn't have to pay for them. She's saving
- 7:42Speaker 2: money left, right and center.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, I would go more than two times.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Where is this place? Aisha said. Apparently Planet Fitness is
- 7:50Speaker 2: really good. It's nine dollars a week for membership and
- 7:52Speaker 2: they give free weekly spray hands and massages. I think
- 7:55Speaker 2: that's in a miracle. Why no, I am so excited.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Why because I live on TikTok and I saw that
- 8:01Speaker 4: and I was like, what do you mean your gym
- 8:04Speaker 4: does free spray tns. I would pay for them, yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 4: but it might be in Australia. So if someone could
- 8:12Speaker 4: slide into our dms and be like, hey, well, actually.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I'll do some research in Australia. I'm sure they're American listeners,
- 8:18Speaker 5: so that's good for them to know.
- 8:20Speaker 4: I think I saw the other day alright, Hey, so
- 8:23Speaker 4: his name's Matt. He's on Instagram and TikTok and I
- 8:26Speaker 4: really like his content. I'm pretty sure I saw him
- 8:29Speaker 4: say that he used his Jym spray tanner. Oh I
- 8:32Speaker 4: didn't see this video, yes, and like it was automated,
- 8:35Speaker 4: but he was so loud and he couldn't hear the instructions,
- 8:39Speaker 4: so we basically only spray tanned his front and said
- 8:41Speaker 4: that his back was not his not his business.
- 8:43Speaker 5: And I was like slay, so maybe it's in Australia
- 8:47Speaker 5: as well.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Maybe Okay, that's that really really, I'll do some research
- 8:50Speaker 2: and report back to you that next week. But I
- 8:52Speaker 2: was like, that would be un real.
- 8:54Speaker 5: It's like quite expensive, no, spray can. I think it's
- 8:57Speaker 5: about fifty or sixty dollars. I'm not saying that that's everywhere. Yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 5: depends because I think, yeah, like I think you could
- 9:06Speaker 5: probably get I don't know, remember in high school spraytann's
- 9:08Speaker 5: weally twenty dollars, but now they're or I think that
- 9:12Speaker 5: they're expensive, and like I mean, I live in inner
- 9:14Speaker 5: city Melbourne, so they're probably more expensive than further out.
- 9:18Speaker 4: But yeah, that's a lot of money. Yeah, I'll only
- 9:20Speaker 4: get a spray tann if there's a really good event
- 9:22Speaker 4: coming up.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah. Same.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Otherwise catch me fake tanning in my bathroom all oh
- 9:27Speaker 4: yeah yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Pemi stuff just as good.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it does it perfectly, honestly, and again the back
- 9:32Speaker 4: of my body is not my business.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Completely agree, Completely agree. Next, I've got a money in
- 9:38Speaker 2: from Carrie who said she got a free chip from Coals.
- 9:41Speaker 2: She went to pick up her groceries on Saturday and
- 9:43Speaker 2: someone had apparently bought them all. They bought ten plus chickens,
- 9:45Speaker 2: which is crazy.
- 9:46Speaker 5: So she's doing I have questions, got some question.
- 9:50Speaker 2: She asked how far away the next ones were. It
- 9:52Speaker 2: was over an hour. So she got the voucher that
- 9:54Speaker 2: you get. Apparently there's no chickens available. I think we
- 9:56Speaker 2: mentioned this before you get an So she did that,
- 10:00Speaker 2: and now she said she's eating her free roast chok
- 10:02Speaker 2: for lunch today. Good on you, very very good win. Next,
- 10:06Speaker 2: I've got a money in from Christy, who said she
- 10:09Speaker 2: repurposed address that she used to love, but she didn't
- 10:12Speaker 2: like the straps on. She used her sewing skills to
- 10:14Speaker 2: change from tie up straps to adjustable bra type straps. Boom,
- 10:18Speaker 2: new dress. Kind of I love that. That's very disagreed,
- 10:22Speaker 2: She coded, sewing is an underrated skill. I feel like
- 10:24Speaker 2: taking something you've loved but maybe don't love anymore because
- 10:27Speaker 2: it doesn't fit the way it used to, or you
- 10:28Speaker 2: just want to refresher total vibe. And then lastly, this week,
- 10:33Speaker 2: I've got a money in from Emma, who said, oh
- 10:35Speaker 2: my goodness, I've been waiting to share this all week.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Thanks Emma. Like many others, I have a technology draw
- 10:40Speaker 2: at home with old phones and gaming consoles and things
- 10:43Speaker 2: like that in it. She took them to trade in
- 10:46Speaker 2: at CeX Electronic Exchange and walked away with a little
- 10:50Speaker 2: over six hundred bucks.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Cool.
- 10:52Speaker 2: She said the items were great quality and otherwise would
- 10:54Speaker 2: have gone to Eway, so she had a little bit
- 10:56Speaker 2: side cash and now she's happy knowing someone else will
- 10:58Speaker 2: get to use the part or the items themselves instead
- 11:02Speaker 2: of it going to Landfield. Great. That's actually so good.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Good reminder. I definitely have a couple of old iPhones
- 11:07Speaker 2: lying around, like twenty bucks for them each. I'm like,
- 11:10Speaker 2: that's money you didn't have your stay. It's exactly right.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Yeah, that is a great call.
- 11:14Speaker 2: So everyone go hunting around this weekend see what you
- 11:16Speaker 2: can find.
- 11:17Speaker 5: Absolutely, I love this beck. Yes, what do you got
- 11:21Speaker 5: when it comes to broke tips? Okay, so I'm very
- 11:25Speaker 5: excited about these ones, one in particular. But anyway, this
- 11:32Speaker 5: first friend comes from Jess, who is also my girlfriend,
- 11:35Speaker 5: and she's usually well, she's very clever. So basically I
- 11:40Speaker 5: wouldn't say shop at expensive places like this place. This
- 11:44Speaker 5: place is called sues me. I think I'm saying it right.
- 11:46Speaker 5: S U S M I E S. It's quite an
- 11:49Speaker 5: expensive shop, not more so than anywhere else. It's a
- 11:53Speaker 5: clothing shop and they have beautiful clothes, but want to
- 11:56Speaker 5: iss you're expensive. Oh yeah, I feel like that's the
- 11:58Speaker 5: bare minimum. And also I want to say, my girlfriend
- 12:02Speaker 5: is such a fashionista, so she's very fashionable. So if
- 12:07Speaker 5: you shop here, there are a lot of their clothes
- 12:09Speaker 5: are actually like four different outfits in one So she
- 12:13Speaker 5: bought like a skirt that is also a top that
- 12:15Speaker 5: is also reversible that is also a small skirt, and
- 12:18Speaker 5: a long skirt, and so you can just do whatever
- 12:20Speaker 5: you want with these things.
- 12:21Speaker 2: So I'm like, if you have the.
- 12:23Speaker 5: Means, I know, it's so good. And I'm like, that
- 12:26Speaker 5: is so genius because you usually you'll buy, like I
- 12:30Speaker 5: do know, one shirt and it's just one shirt, which
- 12:33Speaker 5: is fine, but that could be like fifty bucks. But
- 12:36Speaker 5: if you go to Susani's, and I'm we're not sponsor
- 12:38Speaker 5: by Susan's obviously, but I just think that it's like
- 12:40Speaker 5: a place like that, it's like, yeah, just maybe try
- 12:44Speaker 5: and have a look and see if there are any
- 12:45Speaker 5: clothes that you can buy that are like reversible and
- 12:47Speaker 5: also could be yeah, it could be like short, could
- 12:49Speaker 5: be a long skirt could be for any season. I
- 12:52Speaker 5: think that's really really I just think it was really clear.
- 12:54Speaker 5: I feel like that's economical as well, totally. So I
- 12:56Speaker 5: think she got like three things and that's actually like
- 12:58Speaker 5: sixteen different outfits. Sound how whoa Yeah, I'm going to
- 13:02Speaker 5: ask her about show me a skirt and she's like, what,
- 13:07Speaker 5: I think she's wearing it today? Actually, oh well I'm running. Yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 5: if you could maybe leave right And then this next
- 13:14Speaker 5: one comes from me. It's half a money win, half
- 13:17Speaker 5: a broke tip. So shot Back, I don't know if
- 13:19Speaker 5: you guys know, but how they have like happy hour
- 13:21Speaker 5: and I know.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Oh you know, like yeah, because I'm in love with
- 13:24Speaker 2: shop time. I'm sponsored.
- 13:27Speaker 4: No, I just check their app sometimes to see what's
- 13:30Speaker 4: going on, any good deals.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I just need to know.
- 13:32Speaker 5: I just need to be in the I'm obsessed with
- 13:34Speaker 5: shot Back these days, especially since movie, and I'm like,
- 13:37Speaker 5: if I want to buy a TV, I'm going to
- 13:38Speaker 5: do that. I'm shot Back and I haven't yet. But anyway,
- 13:40Speaker 5: so I was on shot Back, just scrolling the middle
- 13:43Speaker 5: of the night as I do. I realized I had
- 13:44Speaker 5: a happy hour, and then my the place where I
- 13:46Speaker 5: get my glasses and there are many different glasses places
- 13:49Speaker 5: on here. I think they have like eighteen percent cash
- 13:52Speaker 5: back or something. But also it's sacking my health insurance
- 13:57Speaker 5: pay up to two hundred dollars in optical. So I
- 14:01Speaker 5: bought turn ittle glasses, got forty bucks from shot Back,
- 14:05Speaker 5: claimed it back on you can on something you claimed back,
- 14:09Speaker 5: it's got forty bucks for no reason. No, there was
- 14:12Speaker 5: a reason. Well, it was a good money win, yes,
- 14:15Speaker 5: isn't it.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I love that that is actually gaming the system in
- 14:18Speaker 4: a really very legal way, very legal, very long.
- 14:23Speaker 2: That is what we like.
- 14:24Speaker 5: No, so I want to recommend Shotback always have like upsize,
- 14:29Speaker 5: you know, things like you but yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Check up.
- 14:31Speaker 5: I think it's like before midnight and maybe after nine
- 14:34Speaker 5: pm or something. I wouldn't have a clue about the times.
- 14:36Speaker 5: I've just seen it, like the advertising, you know how
- 14:38Speaker 5: that yep pops up when you open the app. Yeah,
- 14:40Speaker 5: just so it's very cool and it could be for
- 14:42Speaker 5: anything that you can claim on that's.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Not a sponsored mentioned, but I mean shot Back, if
- 14:45Speaker 4: you want to sponsor us again, please we're lining up.
- 14:48Speaker 4: In fact, we're doing it for free already. But anyway,
- 14:50Speaker 4: it turns out that was a good set of broke tips.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Thank you, thank you, so I love it, and good.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Round up from the community.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Let's go to a really quick break on the flip side.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We're going to be helping to answer money dilemma this week.
- 15:00Speaker 4: We're talking about saving money on travel, which I think
- 15:02Speaker 4: is really fun and something you is leading to our
- 15:05Speaker 4: dms about what to do when a friend owes you money,
- 15:09Speaker 4: so don't go anyway, guys.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Welcome back everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 15:17Speaker 2: money dilemma.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Hi.
- 15:20Speaker 4: There, have you got a money dilemma you just can't solve?
- 15:23Speaker 4: The She's on the Money team is here to help.
- 15:26Speaker 4: Every week we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small,

- 15:32Speaker 4: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 15:35Speaker 4: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 15:37Speaker 4: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 15:40Speaker 4: this week's money dilemma.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Hi, team, I've been booking a trip to Europe and
- 15:46Speaker 6: I've noticed a very clear pink tax when I've been
- 15:48Speaker 6: booking my accommodation in all female dorms as I'm traveling solo.
- 15:53Speaker 6: This is something I'm not willing to compromise on which
- 15:55Speaker 6: will cost me more than four hundred dollars in accommodation
- 15:59Speaker 6: over the five weeks away. Do you have any travel
- 16:02Speaker 6: tips or tricks for saving money elsewhere that won't compromise
- 16:05Speaker 6: my holiday? Thanks so much?
- 16:08Speaker 2: That's crazy?
- 16:08Speaker 5: Is that a real thing? Have you guys noticed that?
- 16:12Speaker 2: I have seen it.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Jess has stayed in her backpackers once and it was
- 16:16Speaker 4: because I booked it, so she wasn't privy to like
- 16:20Speaker 4: the pink tax on that. But it's actually very normal
- 16:23Speaker 4: that female only dorms are priced higher than male only
- 16:27Speaker 4: or like mixed storms, and it's usually because there's less
- 16:30Speaker 4: demand for them, so it's not necessarily a pink tax situation,
- 16:35Speaker 4: but it's a supply and demand situation. So like Jess
- 16:39Speaker 4: goes traveling, right, she's a single, solo female traveler, I
- 16:42Speaker 4: can almost guarantee that is much more rare than a
- 16:45Speaker 4: solo male traveler or people who are willing to share.
- 16:50Speaker 4: So like obviously men are probably more likely to share
- 16:53Speaker 4: and not have an issue. And then there are going
- 16:55Speaker 4: to be females who are happy to sleep in the
- 16:57Speaker 4: mixed storm. So the outlier here is going to be
- 16:59Speaker 4: the female who wants basically her own room or only
- 17:02Speaker 4: females in her room, and you're paying a premium for
- 17:05Speaker 4: that because let's say you go into a six person dorm,
- 17:08Speaker 4: the likelihood of you sharing with six other people is
- 17:12Speaker 4: actually or five other people, sorry, is actually relatively low
- 17:16Speaker 4: in comparison to people who want to just go into
- 17:18Speaker 4: the normal.
- 17:19Speaker 2: Mixed doorm, which is also cheaper.
- 17:21Speaker 4: So it's actually a supply and demand issue here, not
- 17:24Speaker 4: necessarily a pink tax. They're not like blue raisor pink Crazer,
- 17:27Speaker 4: and the pink raser is just more expensive for no reason.
- 17:30Speaker 4: It's supply and demand because they would have to fill
- 17:33Speaker 4: the beds, and their way of mitigating the fact that
- 17:36Speaker 4: they're sectioning off an entire room in their backpackers and
- 17:40Speaker 4: saying only girls in there is to charge Jess a
- 17:43Speaker 4: higher amount to travel. So I get that it feels
- 17:47Speaker 4: like pink tax, though because obviously it only applies to
- 17:50Speaker 4: you for being female. Yeah, but it seems to be
- 17:53Speaker 4: a global trend. But yeah, it's usually women only are
- 17:58Speaker 4: less likely to travel and also more likely to be
- 18:00Speaker 4: the smaller rooms, So you're going to pay a little
- 18:04Speaker 4: bit more, which you get what you get. Yeah, but
- 18:08Speaker 4: what are your best travel tips? Yes, I remember you
- 18:11Speaker 4: saying that you came home once from traveling with like
- 18:14Speaker 4: less than a dollar in your bank account, so you.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Had to at the airport.
- 18:19Speaker 5: But how how did you say money traveling?
- 18:22Speaker 2: Oh, I always have exactly true. I've never traveled solid.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I've always traveled in groups, which keeps costs down because
- 18:27Speaker 2: you're spliting accommodation. You can split meal costs like that
- 18:30Speaker 2: breaks things down a lot. When we would travel, like
- 18:34Speaker 2: when I was in Greece, for example, and we traveled
- 18:35Speaker 2: on ferries between islands, we'd always take like the less
- 18:38Speaker 2: ideal times because it's sometimes cheaper to travel at like
- 18:43Speaker 2: six in the morning than it would be at ten
- 18:44Speaker 2: am or something like that. So doing things like that
- 18:48Speaker 2: not to give a shot back another free plug, but
- 18:50Speaker 2: pre booking accommodation where possible shot back through me, Yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 2: through like any kind of cash back platform. And then
- 18:58Speaker 2: just say it's prioritizing what's important to you. Like I
- 19:00Speaker 2: remember traveling with one of my really good friends and
- 19:03Speaker 2: we like, like she was someone who really wanted to
- 19:05Speaker 2: travel as cheaply as she could, and so she just
- 19:08Speaker 2: would elect to not do some things because like if
- 19:11Speaker 2: I would go to a museum and maybe she was like, ah,
- 19:13Speaker 2: could give it a miss, she just wouldn't go. So
- 19:16Speaker 2: also not giving into like the fomo, especially in a
- 19:18Speaker 2: group setting, and being like, oh, if everyone's going to
- 19:21Speaker 2: this play or if everyone's doing this thing, I want
- 19:23Speaker 2: to go to just profab to get Oh I have
- 19:26Speaker 2: a queen of pomo, so like I would be spending
- 19:29Speaker 2: just to go, but like my friend was really good
- 19:31Speaker 2: about just going. Okay, like I'm going to spend money
- 19:33Speaker 2: on food and somewhere to sleep, and that's basically and
- 19:36Speaker 2: not buying souvenirs, not buying you know, getting sucked into
- 19:39Speaker 2: the little things that add up when you travel, and
- 19:42Speaker 2: so just looking at I guess what's important to you
- 19:43Speaker 2: and maybe mapping that out ahead of time so you
- 19:46Speaker 2: are less likely. It's like when you go to the
- 19:48Speaker 2: shops when you're hungry and all of a sudden half trolley.
- 19:51Speaker 2: The same sort of thing, right, like planning, pre allocating.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Sudden my diet that I'm trying to stick to out
- 19:57Speaker 5: the window.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, So like pre doing as much as you
- 20:00Speaker 2: can to avoid that kind of stuff too, is probably
- 20:02Speaker 2: my top.
- 20:03Speaker 5: Tips that is so true, and then you don't have
- 20:06Speaker 5: any like unexpected you know, or you will have some
- 20:09Speaker 5: but not as many unexpected costs that oh I thought
- 20:11Speaker 5: i'd spend two thousand, actually spent ten thousand or something. Yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 5: I guess I don't really like travel heaps. But my
- 20:17Speaker 5: two that I have already mentioned on the show. One
- 20:19Speaker 5: was like where every single item of clothing and so
- 20:21Speaker 5: the level bag is larger and you don't have to,
- 20:25Speaker 5: you know, be stung with an unexpected charge if your
- 20:28Speaker 5: bag weighs more than you thought it would. And then
- 20:31Speaker 5: the other is I only book on I know the pilot.
- 20:36Speaker 5: It's like an app where it's like will also just
- 20:38Speaker 5: like kind of be scanning. If you just put in
- 20:40Speaker 5: there where you want to go, roughly, it will be scanning.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I'm the kind of person that doesn't actually care, but
- 20:46Speaker 5: I have the luxury of like, you know, just being solo.
- 20:48Speaker 5: But if if there's a flight that is extremely cheap
- 20:53Speaker 5: but it's like twenty stops and a million hours stopover,
- 20:56Speaker 5: I don't actually care. I'm going to do it because
- 20:59Speaker 5: it's so cheap, and I'm like, this is kind of fun.
- 21:01Speaker 5: You get to stop in little places and obviously can't
- 21:04Speaker 5: really and it's uncomfortable and also.
- 21:08Speaker 2: You're really selling it by torture.
- 21:11Speaker 5: But it's something that if you in this case only
- 21:16Speaker 5: it's about the destination and not the journey, and if
- 21:18Speaker 5: your journey is like one or two days, don't worry, yeah,
- 21:21Speaker 5: because you're going to get there eventually.
- 21:23Speaker 2: I like that. I like that.
- 21:24Speaker 5: Anything else to add back, I think maybe yeah, I
- 21:32Speaker 5: just I somehow travel cheap, and I think it's just
- 21:34Speaker 5: because I don't I don't actually eat.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I feel like that's when you'd be good for like
- 21:38Speaker 2: eating it like hole in the wall places. We had
- 21:41Speaker 2: half our meals like five dollars, which but it was
- 21:43Speaker 2: like little local places rather than going to like a
- 21:46Speaker 2: big you know check you even a McDonald's or something
- 21:49Speaker 2: like that. Totally or it would be so cheap. There's
- 21:51Speaker 2: often totally that you can get cheap really great food, yes, yes,
- 21:55Speaker 2: and family marts.
- 21:56Speaker 4: I feel like I still travel cheap. Like, don't get
- 21:59Speaker 4: me wrong, I've stayed at some beautiful places, but my
- 22:02Speaker 4: frugal travel habits will follow me everywhere. Poor Jessica. A
- 22:06Speaker 4: couple of years ago we went to Europe together and
- 22:08Speaker 4: she experienced this. So the female dorm. This is where
- 22:12Speaker 4: it's come up, right, we're talking about female dorms. We
- 22:14Speaker 4: were traveling in a group, and if you're traveling in
- 22:16Speaker 4: a group, I think you automatically go, Okay, well maybe
- 22:19Speaker 4: we'll get near BMB or something.
- 22:21Speaker 2: But you can book out a.
- 22:22Speaker 4: Whole dorm room if you want, And we did that
- 22:25Speaker 4: at a backpackers and it was like a six person
- 22:28Speaker 4: dorm room. So we did have a spare bed in
- 22:30Speaker 4: there because we didn't need it, but we got our
- 22:32Speaker 4: own on suite, really clean, really easy. We stayed it
- 22:36Speaker 4: and it worked. So that's a good one. Grocery shopping
- 22:39Speaker 4: when you get there, having a little trip to the
- 22:41Speaker 4: grocery store. I don't know if everyone's like this, but
- 22:44Speaker 4: I think as a cultural experience, actually want to go
- 22:46Speaker 4: to the supermarket in every location that I go to,
- 22:50Speaker 4: and I need it to be an activity. We're not
- 22:51Speaker 4: just zipping in for a snack. We are going to
- 22:53Speaker 4: look at all the aisles. We're going to look at
- 22:55Speaker 4: the grocery. I actually look at the reviews of the
- 22:58Speaker 4: grocery store and I'm like, let's go to this monopre
- 23:01Speaker 4: just got five stars, and we're buying snacks that we
- 23:04Speaker 4: can pack in our bag for when we're out, and
- 23:06Speaker 4: about breakfasts if they're not included where you're staying, and
- 23:10Speaker 4: a few things that you can just have up your sleeve.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Like I don't know if you guys.
- 23:14Speaker 4: You have that hour between when you come back from
- 23:17Speaker 4: your activities in the afternoon and going out for dinner.
- 23:19Speaker 2: The doom scroll, the doom scroll session. Jess and I
- 23:23Speaker 2: love it. No talkie during that.
- 23:25Speaker 4: Time, client time, light time only we're laying on our beds.
- 23:29Speaker 4: We're actually strapped to our beds because we need to
- 23:31Speaker 4: charge our phones. But we want to be on our phones,
- 23:34Speaker 4: review the photos from the day, look at Instagram because
- 23:36Speaker 4: we've had no Wi Fi all day.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Also, don't talk to me.
- 23:39Speaker 4: But you might want to buy some little snacks to
- 23:41Speaker 4: tide you over, so like some Chippy's. Maybe you're buying
- 23:44Speaker 4: and I'm not saying that this is super cheap, but
- 23:46Speaker 4: maybe you're buying a little wine to have during that
- 23:48Speaker 4: period of time. But when you go out for dinner,
- 23:50Speaker 4: you could just get on entray. So we're still going
- 23:53Speaker 4: out for dinner, but you could have maybe some two
- 23:55Speaker 4: minute noodles or something. Still have the experience much cheaper
- 24:00Speaker 4: the grocery thing works for me on the like the
- 24:03Speaker 4: food thing. I have so many tips. Maybe if you
- 24:05Speaker 4: do your whole travel Hacks episode, if you're staying at
- 24:07Speaker 4: a resort that has buffet breakfast, or even if you're
- 24:10Speaker 4: staying at a backpack that has breakfast, us Jess mayor
- 24:14Speaker 4: do this.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I'm the only smart one that.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Brought tupperware, though, so take it tuperwear to breakfast. They
- 24:20Speaker 4: have a selection of breads, jams, cheeses, deli meats, make
- 24:25Speaker 4: a sandwich, take it for later. The little pastries were
- 24:29Speaker 4: taking those for morning tea. How many times did we
- 24:31Speaker 4: smuggle croissants out of our accommodation?
- 24:35Speaker 2: Probably one too many?
- 24:37Speaker 5: No, no such thing, not enough times.
- 24:40Speaker 2: The other one I wouldn't say.
- 24:41Speaker 4: When I was traveling Europe for the very first time,
- 24:45Speaker 4: night trains, yes you might go r V but they
- 24:48Speaker 4: take longer.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yes, but I'm asleep on the train.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I'm not paying accommodation for that night, and I boom
- 24:53Speaker 4: bang my accommodation and my transport in one cost. Now,
- 24:57Speaker 4: double whammy, double whammy. I'm sleeping for the night. Is
- 24:59Speaker 4: it comeftable? Not that much, but let's not talk about it.
- 25:03Speaker 4: May work you're also this is going to be my
- 25:05Speaker 4: last one, but never eating at tourist destinations, so like
- 25:09Speaker 4: the main squares, so we're not eating there, you know,
- 25:11Speaker 4: we're going a little bit further out because everything will
- 25:14Speaker 4: be overpriced. So if you're going to Paris and you
- 25:17Speaker 4: see the Eiffel Tower, you are not eating anywhere near
- 25:20Speaker 4: the Eiffel Tower because there will be the Eiffel Tower
- 25:23Speaker 4: attacks and that happens everywhere. Yeah, I think that's it,
- 25:27Speaker 4: But I think you just need to be smart about
- 25:29Speaker 4: what you're doing and where you're going, and also, while
- 25:31Speaker 4: I'm here, sorry, factoring in your travel payments. So if
- 25:36Speaker 4: you are going, oh we're gonna you know, be budget
- 25:39Speaker 4: and stay not in the CBD. But like, let's pretend
- 25:42Speaker 4: it's Melbourne, you're traveling too. Well in the CBD, there's
- 25:45Speaker 4: actually free trams all around the city. So how much
- 25:48Speaker 4: are you then going to be spending on public transport
- 25:51Speaker 4: or ubers or whatever to get back to your hotel
- 25:53Speaker 4: each night? If you're staying further out, what like, have
- 25:56Speaker 4: a bit of a look you can actually in uber
- 25:59Speaker 4: put your like average destinations in and get a little
- 26:02Speaker 4: quote of what that might cost and see because like,
- 26:04Speaker 4: if you're telling me that you're then going to spend
- 26:06Speaker 4: fifty or sixty dollars a day on ubers or something,
- 26:08Speaker 4: and I'm not saying that's reasonable, but whatever, would you
- 26:11Speaker 4: not prefer to put that into your accommodation have a
- 26:13Speaker 4: more elevated accommodation experience and walk everywhere or catch the
- 26:17Speaker 4: free public transport what's available. Yeah, so just like weighing
- 26:20Speaker 4: it up in little things, yeap, cash back, you know,
- 26:24Speaker 4: booking deals, you know, talking to a travel agent can
- 26:28Speaker 4: help as well because they might be able to like
- 26:30Speaker 4: put everything together. But yeah, there's just lots. I just
- 26:32Speaker 4: I love travel, but I also am a frugal traveler.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I sent the travel episode coming in our future.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Oh so hard. We'll work on that for you.
- 26:40Speaker 5: Yes, that's all for me though, when it comes to
- 26:42Speaker 5: travel tips and tricks, great tips. Now do you want
- 26:44Speaker 5: to get into the juicy deeds? Yeah?
- 26:47Speaker 4: So this week we got a DM Are you ready? Yes,
- 26:50Speaker 4: good afternoon. My community question is more about friendships and
- 26:54Speaker 4: asking for money, as I find it really awkward. I
- 26:58Speaker 4: work in the beauty industry and obviously do bits and
- 27:00Speaker 4: pieces for my friends a fair bit. They always pay
- 27:04Speaker 4: as a lot of them say friends are your biggest
- 27:06Speaker 4: and best clientele, But I do have one or two
- 27:09Speaker 4: that can take a long time to pay or just
- 27:11Speaker 4: forget and don't pay at all. But I find it
- 27:14Speaker 4: really awkward to ask for money and like I'm being rude,
- 27:17Speaker 4: which is ridiculous because obviously I'm not being And I
- 27:20Speaker 4: think what makes it harder is they always complain how
- 27:23Speaker 4: broke they are and have no money to pay for
- 27:25Speaker 4: this sort of stuff, yet can afford to online shop
- 27:27Speaker 4: for clothes. I know, I just need to bite the bullet,
- 27:30Speaker 4: but it's making me so nervous.
- 27:32Speaker 5: What would you do?
- 27:36Speaker 2: It's so hard because me my money. Yeah, it's hard
- 27:39Speaker 2: because the one thing I'd say is ah, they but
- 27:43Speaker 2: they do pay, So maybe not because I've said before,
- 27:46Speaker 2: how like I have friends who like, if one girl
- 27:48Speaker 2: does eyebrows, one girl does nails, like you like we
- 27:51Speaker 2: do a swapsias, or if one girl has a staff
- 27:53Speaker 2: discount here one girl, you know, I mean, like, but
- 27:55Speaker 2: it works for everyone. It's very different if you're the
- 27:57Speaker 2: only friend that has a skill set and it's your business. Yeah, correct, Yeah,
- 28:01Speaker 2: so that's a little bit different. I mean, maybe they
- 28:04Speaker 2: just have not clocked that and they're not really comprehending it.
- 28:07Speaker 2: The way that I would go about it, to simply
- 28:09Speaker 2: avoid confrontation is I would be.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Like, oh, number, no, we're not blocking. No, I would
- 28:16Speaker 4: want confrontation. Can't see her.
- 28:17Speaker 2: In quotation marks set up an online invoicing system and
- 28:23Speaker 2: so you just go, I mean you might already have
- 28:25Speaker 2: one for your business, I'm assuming, but if you don't
- 28:27Speaker 2: having one setup that just sends you know, when you
- 28:29Speaker 2: book a stand beauty appointment, you get a confirmation, so
- 28:32Speaker 2: just run them like a normal customer basically, rather than
- 28:34Speaker 2: being like, oh, yeah, just drop over Saturday afternoon, I'm
- 28:37Speaker 2: not working that day so I can fit you in
- 28:38Speaker 2: whenever actually book them in. If you have a system
- 28:41Speaker 2: and have the system sends the email, and then oh
- 28:44Speaker 2: would you look at that? The system sends an automatic remander.
- 28:46Speaker 2: It's not coming from you. The system just does it.
- 28:48Speaker 2: And if you don't know, as to Victoria's fake assistant before,
- 28:51Speaker 2: she had yeah, and if you don't have a system
- 28:53Speaker 2: that can do that automatically, you know, if you just
- 28:55Speaker 2: write an email that looks like an automatic system, they're
- 28:58Speaker 2: not going to know the difference, Like, Hi, yess, thanks
- 29:01Speaker 2: so much for booking your appointment, and you've got to put.
- 29:03Speaker 5: You've got to put a space between the word jess
- 29:05Speaker 5: and then the comma.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, so they So if you don't have a system,
- 29:10Speaker 2: you can just pretend that you have one, And in
- 29:12Speaker 2: my opinion, that kind of just takes.
- 29:13Speaker 4: You out of it, the awkwardness out of it. I'm
- 29:15Speaker 4: not going to lie, I would laugh. So Like, obviously
- 29:17Speaker 4: I'd be mortified if I owed you money and you
- 29:20Speaker 4: send a reminder like that, But also like I would
- 29:22Speaker 4: be like, did you make this up?
- 29:25Speaker 2: But I think you can do it and you can't
- 29:26Speaker 2: tell I mean, there are other ways to go about it,
- 29:28Speaker 2: which I'm sure you guys.
- 29:29Speaker 5: Get into laughing so much. Have you ever done this?
- 29:32Speaker 2: I mean, I don't offer services, so no, I just
- 29:36Speaker 2: switch arough who does each other's nails occasion? Yeah, literally,
- 29:39Speaker 2: it's a little bit less formal, but like I can
- 29:41Speaker 2: totally see if you're doing it for them all the time.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Your time is valuable as a professional, and it's not
- 29:46Speaker 2: fair of your friends to take advantage of them. And
- 29:48Speaker 2: if you're not comfortable having that conversation, which you should
- 29:51Speaker 2: because they're friends and they, as your other friends said,
- 29:53Speaker 2: they should champion you and want you to succeed, but
- 29:56Speaker 2: if you feel a bit weird, that's what I would do. Wow,
- 30:00Speaker 2: Oh that's quite clever, little scheamy what you do.
- 30:04Speaker 5: I guess, like I think if you, like, if it
- 30:08Speaker 5: isn't possible to like maybe from now be like, oh
- 30:12Speaker 5: I might never see that money. I don't care, but
- 30:15Speaker 5: from now on, I'm actually way too busy to fit
- 30:18Speaker 5: anyone else in, Like, no one that's gonna be.
- 30:20Speaker 2: You know when I have capacity.
- 30:21Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, something like that. Because then like, if you
- 30:24Speaker 5: don't want to have confrontations, I want to, like I
- 30:27Speaker 5: would go silently cutting your friends off from that kind
- 30:30Speaker 5: of thing, Like I would still, like, you know, go
- 30:32Speaker 5: out with them and all that kind of stuff. But
- 30:34Speaker 5: just like if you don't want to bring it up,
- 30:36Speaker 5: then hopefully they just get the hint. But I also
- 30:39Speaker 5: do think like it doesn't have to be it doesn't
- 30:42Speaker 5: have to be awkward. I was actually talking about this
- 30:44Speaker 5: last night with some of my friends. We're talking about
- 30:46Speaker 5: like the best way to tell someone that you've got
- 30:49Speaker 5: an issue to bring up or something like this. It's
- 30:51Speaker 5: awkward and the best way to do it, but it
- 30:53Speaker 5: doesn't work for everyone, but for us we agreed that
- 30:57Speaker 5: just being like you're giving me the shits, like just
- 30:59Speaker 5: be so casual and what kind of funny and silly
- 31:02Speaker 5: about it is the best way to just break that.
- 31:06Speaker 5: My team talk to me, yeah, and then just as
- 31:09Speaker 5: like you're being really annoying and I'm like, yeah, noted,
- 31:11Speaker 5: I'm not stopping though, but hopefully like the it really
- 31:16Speaker 5: it really does depend on the person receiving the information,
- 31:19Speaker 5: because if you know that someone's quite like defensive and
- 31:22Speaker 5: totally then it's like this is literally impossible. There's nothing,
- 31:25Speaker 5: there's no way that you can communicate then a service
- 31:30Speaker 5: if they're like that, yeah, oh yeah. But if they're not,
- 31:33Speaker 5: then there really is a way. Maybe they're the type
- 31:34Speaker 5: of person that respond really well to humor, maybe they're
- 31:37Speaker 5: the type of person that responds really well to like
- 31:40Speaker 5: they're quite empathetic, then maybe be a little bit like
- 31:42Speaker 5: soft with them and gentle. It just depends on the
- 31:45Speaker 5: receiver in this situation, I think, and how you can
- 31:47Speaker 5: best I mean, it's hard because if there's a few
- 31:50Speaker 5: of them that you know, you might need to tailor
- 31:51Speaker 5: your your situation and the way you approach it so
- 31:54Speaker 5: many different times. But if they're defensive. You can't really
- 31:57Speaker 5: do anything, and don't beat yourself up about it. Just
- 31:59Speaker 5: you don't have capacity any more, basically, is what I'm saying.
- 32:01Speaker 5: You're too busy.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, until you've paid all the outstanding voices.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, So we've got that silent cut off,
- 32:07Speaker 4: we've got the fake in voicing system. You had a
- 32:11Speaker 4: level of like, oh, use your empathy, which I like,
- 32:14Speaker 4: I'm probably just going to call them out for. I'm
- 32:16Speaker 4: just going to be like, hey, this is really awkward.
- 32:18Speaker 4: But I've had to chase this a couple of times.
- 32:21Speaker 4: What's going on? Like I don't think I would mention
- 32:23Speaker 4: their spending habits because like, from my perspective, that's none
- 32:26Speaker 4: of my business. Now they're spending their money. I feel
- 32:29Speaker 4: like calling other people out on their money habits. You
- 32:32Speaker 4: don't know them, Like, don't get me wrong, you could
- 32:34Speaker 4: have been best friends with this person for thirty years,
- 32:36Speaker 4: but you don't know them. That could be an issue,
- 32:39Speaker 4: That could be something that stresses them out. Maybe they
- 32:41Speaker 4: have a shopping addiction that you haven't discussed, or maybe
- 32:44Speaker 4: that was their way of dealing with some level of
- 32:46Speaker 4: grief or troup. Like none of your business, Yes, to
- 32:49Speaker 4: be honest. If let's pretend Jess saw me spending money
- 32:52Speaker 4: when I owed her money, Like, I know, on a.
- 32:55Speaker 5: Deep level, that's a bad look. Like do people not
- 32:58Speaker 5: know that that's not.
- 33:00Speaker 2: These people don't though, like they're still doing it.
- 33:02Speaker 4: Yeah, But I just I think it then goes down
- 33:04Speaker 4: to a lack of respect, because if I haven't paid
- 33:06Speaker 4: you back and I'm going and spending money in a
- 33:08Speaker 4: different area, I'm basically sending the message, whether that is
- 33:12Speaker 4: by choice or not, that my priorities are worth more
- 33:15Speaker 4: than me paying you back, Yess, And like that's not cool.
- 33:19Speaker 4: They're not the type of people that I want to
- 33:20Speaker 4: keep the company of. And I'm not saying that there's
- 33:23Speaker 4: a good or a bad or even an in between,
- 33:25Speaker 4: but I would probably just politely say hey, like is
- 33:28Speaker 4: this And I always like to preface it with like
- 33:30Speaker 4: it's so awkward, sorry, yeah, but can you xyz it?
- 33:35Speaker 4: And it just like kind of softens the blow. It's
- 33:37Speaker 4: a bit like you know how you're saying, you know,
- 33:39Speaker 4: read the room. How do you make confrontation a little
- 33:42Speaker 4: bit less awkward with a friends? Like calling it out great,
- 33:44Speaker 4: But like in that situation, I'd be.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Like, oh, this is so awkward.
- 33:48Speaker 4: But you're really annoying me right now, like I feel
- 33:51Speaker 4: like calling it out.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Oh my god, honest communication imagine.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Oh I hate how we always crazy that it's wild.
- 33:58Speaker 5: What did everyone else say? If you were our community member,
- 34:01Speaker 5: what would you do? Three percent of you said I'm
- 34:03Speaker 5: calling them out for their other spending three three forty
- 34:07Speaker 5: five percent said I'm going to politely remind them, forty
- 34:10Speaker 5: three percent said I'm going to require pre payment in
- 34:13Speaker 5: the future. Oh good one, that's clever, and nine percent
- 34:16Speaker 5: this is so funny because like all of these options,
- 34:19Speaker 5: which you guys clearly hadn't seen because I ran this
- 34:21Speaker 5: cut them off.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Okay.
- 34:24Speaker 4: We then said, how do you usually deal with friends
- 34:26Speaker 4: who owe you money? Forty four percent said I always
- 34:28Speaker 4: chase up what I'm ode, forty two percent said I
- 34:31Speaker 4: ask a few times and then I just let it go.
- 34:33Speaker 4: And fourteen percent of you said I wait for them
- 34:35Speaker 4: to bring it up.
- 34:36Speaker 2: If it's awkward, they could be forgetful, like I have
- 34:40Speaker 2: definitely been that person.
- 34:41Speaker 5: HD.
- 34:42Speaker 2: I forget someone's message in the group chat Hey guys,
- 34:45Speaker 2: XYZ for dinner, and I've seen it at work and
- 34:47Speaker 2: going yep, need to do that later. And then forgotten,
- 34:49Speaker 2: and then a week later, I've like sat up in
- 34:50Speaker 2: bed and been like, oh.
- 34:51Speaker 5: Yes, like maybe you know, maybe gentle Yes, yeah, definitely,
- 34:57Speaker 5: And I think gentle reminders can be kind. Like at
- 35:01Speaker 5: the end of the day, it's something they said that
- 35:03Speaker 5: they were going to do, Like, it's not you asking
- 35:06Speaker 5: for money for a service they thought they were getting
- 35:08Speaker 5: for free, which is a completely different ballgame. We then
- 35:11Speaker 5: said to the community, all right, guys, what are your
- 35:13Speaker 5: two cents? First person said, if I have to remind
- 35:17Speaker 5: them twice, I'm sick the next time they book him,
- 35:19Speaker 5: and then all of a sudden they pay. Someone else said,
- 35:23Speaker 5: offer to teach them how to do it themselves. That
- 35:26Speaker 5: way you feel helpful, but now you're not losing money.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I kind of like that, Oh sorry.
- 35:32Speaker 4: In my head when I read that, I was like, what,
- 35:33Speaker 4: teach them how to do a bank transfer?
- 35:38Speaker 5: And then it was like, oh, teach them the service. Okay,
- 35:42Speaker 5: please ignore me and the way my brain. Next person said,
- 35:46Speaker 5: short change now impacts the compounding interest for you tomorrow.
- 35:50Speaker 2: You need to speak up.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Wow is that victoria?
- 35:55Speaker 4: I feel like I might be in their brain a
- 35:56Speaker 4: little bit. Someone else said that stop making excuses for
- 35:59Speaker 4: people you know are lying to you.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Oh it is.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Someone else said, rude, but there's like four us, four d's,
- 36:11Speaker 4: four e's.
- 36:11Speaker 2: And five exclamation points. I mean that rude.
- 36:17Speaker 5: And then they said they should value your hard work
- 36:20Speaker 5: the most, and they saw what it took to get
- 36:23Speaker 5: you there, they need to pay you.
- 36:24Speaker 2: That's so true.
- 36:25Speaker 4: Someone else said, we use the Beamet app to settle
- 36:28Speaker 4: all expenses. It is much easier than asking. But you
- 36:32Speaker 4: could have like split wise because even if like the
- 36:35Speaker 4: cool thing about split wise is obviously if Jess and
- 36:38Speaker 4: I shared a pizza with Beg, we could split it
- 36:40Speaker 4: three ways, or Jess is not paying and it's just
- 36:43Speaker 4: beck and eye. But you can also split it one way.
- 36:45Speaker 4: You can say one hundred percent of the costs goes
- 36:46Speaker 4: to Jessica for that, Yeah, and it just comes up
- 36:49Speaker 4: there's a reminder on their phone.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and it tracks it.
- 36:52Speaker 5: But with beam it you can actually when you swipe
- 36:54Speaker 5: to pay, it actually pays it. With split wise, it's
- 36:56Speaker 5: swiped to pay, it doesn't really come out of your account.
- 36:59Speaker 5: You have to go and then follow.
- 37:01Speaker 2: I love that, Like your account is like linked linked
- 37:04Speaker 2: to beam it. So when you do that, and it
- 37:05Speaker 2: says I can get behind that.
- 37:07Speaker 5: You've paid the other person have to accept it all No, nope,
- 37:11Speaker 5: you just like they add something into beam it and
- 37:13Speaker 5: then you go ahead and say, and you've to your bank,
- 37:17Speaker 5: you've linked it, and then it says swipe to pay.
- 37:18Speaker 5: You literally just swipe and then it processes and then
- 37:21Speaker 5: gives you the tick. You don't have to do any
- 37:23Speaker 5: of that. Go now, go to your bank and anyway.
- 37:27Speaker 2: I'm obsessed. It's great. I'm obsessed, me too, How good?
- 37:31Speaker 5: All right?
- 37:32Speaker 4: Next person said, I'm self employed and serving friends gives
- 37:35Speaker 4: me the ick because they always expect a huge discount
- 37:37Speaker 4: for no reason. Someone else said friends should support each
- 37:42Speaker 4: other's businesses, not take advantage. Real friends would pay from
- 37:45Speaker 4: the get go.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Amen, and I'm going to leave it there, gorgeous. I'm
- 37:49Speaker 2: going to leave it there.
- 37:50Speaker 5: I feel like I've yapped a lot this episode. Good wait,
- 37:52Speaker 5: good place to leave it?
- 37:53Speaker 2: How good?
- 37:54Speaker 4: All right?
- 37:54Speaker 5: Well, have a good weekend, guys. We will live love,
- 37:57Speaker 5: laugh on the flip side, and see you Monday morning.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Right nearly for money, Darry, Bye, guys. Bye.
