- 0:00Speaker: Good morning.
- 0:01Speaker: What is the most important thing we can do after we wake up is become increasingly aware of our day, of our opportunities, obstacles which we may confront.
- 0:15Speaker: And how better to do this than to practice being more virtuous, having a greater sense of perspective.
- 0:27Speaker: This is a way.
- 0:28Speaker: And in my opinion, it is a better way than most.
- 0:33Speaker: The best way, we don't need to say.
- 0:37Speaker: We, as Homo sapiens, can keep improving.
- 0:41Speaker: One thing for sure we know.
- 0:44Speaker: We need to learn from our past experience, both as individuals and as communities, as groupings such as nations, and as the ultimate grouping of our world.
- 0:58Speaker: Being here now comfortable, peaceful, at ease, tranquil, in an environment where we can focus on, concentrate our energies, sharing a sense of compassion and empathy for ourselves, for our loved ones, for everyone for that matter, for we are the family of mankind.
- 1:27Speaker: Being 99.6% the same, we are almost identical.
- 1:34Speaker: I know we have many differences between ourselves, both in personality and in experience and in intelligence and in physical capabilities, etc.
- 1:46Speaker: And yet 99.6% the same.
- 1:52Speaker: So a sense of perspective is always more dear when we can consider everyone family related.
- 2:03Speaker: Is this not a better way to view one's world?
- 2:06Speaker: How we can help each other rather than how we can take advantage of each other.
- 2:14Speaker: We see both being done every day in many different ways.
- 2:20Speaker: We need as communities and nations and as a world for our best leaders to be in leadership positions.
- 2:32Speaker: Today this is not happening.
- 2:34Speaker: Without naming anyone in particular, I'm sure that all of us can add to a consensus of who might possibly be doing not so good of a job.
- 2:50Speaker: Whatever criteria one might want to fashion, you can still find there are discrepancies and lackings for those qualities we wish to find in our leaders.
- 3:07Speaker: It is something to contemplate, our own individual responsibilities.
- 3:11Speaker: We need to upgrade ourselves.
- 3:14Speaker: Maybe not you nor I, or maybe both of us, but certainly as communities and nations, we need to do a better job.
- 3:24Speaker: I think this is a given, right?
- 3:26Speaker: Why do I suppose this is so?
- 3:30Speaker: What gives me the right, in a sense, to say what I believe?
- 3:38Speaker: It is just looking.
- 3:40Speaker: It is just common sense.
- 3:42Speaker: When hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people are dying all over our world for a lack of civility, lack of understanding, lack of compassion and empathy, then this is where these kinds of thoughts arise.
- 4:04Speaker: We need to do a better job, each of us in our own way, by having a desire to improve ourselves, to gather our senses, or on this path of betterment, self-improvement, mindful meditation is another term for exercising one's own self-restraint, one's own seeking to learn and acquire a better sense of perspective, because this is what we are doing.
- 4:36Speaker: To be virtuous or to be egotistical, to be wiser or to be foolish.
- 4:44Speaker: These are the choices one makes every day.
- 4:48Speaker: Which are we choosing today?
- 4:51Speaker: In this moment now, we are sharing these moments, so I think the answer is clear for us that we are desirous of improving.
- 5:03Speaker: Being here now, in this moment, aware of one's bodily functions to some degree.
- 5:14Speaker: It is easy to ascertain that our bodies are functioning by paying attention, realizing there are processes going on.
- 5:25Speaker: Things like our respiration, our lungs rising and subsiding as we inhale and exhale the atmosphere, a source of energy for Homo sapiens.
- 5:41Speaker: Further, the circulation of this energy we've just spoken of is accomplished by our heart pumping this energy or oxygen, as we call it, throughout our vascular systems, to our cells, to feed them.
- 5:59Speaker: These are not often thought of in these terms, but this is the truth of the matter of what's going on.
- 6:06Speaker: Present with these processes is what we are doing right now.
- 6:15Speaker: Being aware of them, finding a sense of comfort, a sense of familiarity, ease in elements of our being which are going on all the time.
- 6:31Speaker: We're breathing around twenty thousand times a day, and our heart is squeezing around ninety thousand times in each day.
- 6:40Speaker: Oh second nature, habit.
- 6:44Speaker: And we are crystallizing habits of our own by our consistency and discipline, determination to keep improving ourselves through the balance of our lives.
- 7:00Speaker: Being here now, going even deeper beneath these processes.
- 7:08Speaker: We're talking about one exuding heat, two filtering oxygen out of air into our bloodstream, and three feeding ourselves.
- 7:20Speaker: Beneath these is what?
- 7:23Speaker: It is the ambience of all three.
- 7:27Speaker: It is being alive, aware, alert, awake.
- 7:38Speaker: To our current environment, our circumstances we have put ourselves in or find ourselves where we are.
- 7:49Speaker: Being bundles of miracles is not very hard to believe when we consider what we've just been speaking about.
- 8:02Speaker: In fact, it's easy.
- 8:03Speaker: And why we do it this way, utilizing what we're already familiar with ourselves.
- 8:10Speaker: We are here now, we are present, we are aware of the miraculous nature of our beings, one following of an evolution of millions of years to become what we are today.
- 8:31Speaker: With this conversation or one's own internal dialogue, we realize and are humble before the majesty of all of these things simultaneously occurring.
- 8:50Speaker: Not only within the integrity for which our skin gives our bodies, but of everything everywhere, the universe, creation of which we are a part, humble before the immensity of this awareness we are sharing.
- 9:16Speaker: When we are bogged down with something and focused intently on just one item, it may be this is necessary to be this way in these moments, whatever they might be.
- 9:31Speaker: It is also worthy to consider.
- 9:34Speaker: Should I be expanding my perspective to see more?
- 9:38Speaker: Are there more examples I can utilize in my thinking, in my decision making?
- 9:45Speaker: Can I use history, my own or otherwise?
- 9:49Speaker: And the answer is of course.
- 9:51Speaker: To be open-minded is part of the virtuosity we are seeking.
- 9:57Speaker: To be clear, to be allowing, receptive are all part of the tenets of virtuosity.
- 10:10Speaker: Thankful to be here and have a chance, to be here and have a part to play.
- 10:24Speaker: Not necessarily easy, and not necessarily easier as we grow with time, but sustainable and with discipline and determination available for us to climb this ladder we are on of life to flow in this river of time.
- 10:54Speaker: It is, we can keep making little steps of improvement.
- 11:01Speaker: This much I know.
- 11:02Speaker: Considering these things grow, learning to flow as you grow, learning to grow in fits and starts and pieces is a beginning.
- 11:24Speaker: We want to grow and flow in the momentum of our physicality, in the momentum of breathing twenty thousand times a day, in the momentum of one's heart squeezing ninety thousand times a day, these two processes, respiration and circulation, are a means of remembering one's flowing presence of being alive.
- 12:06Speaker: This is their value to me.
- 12:09Speaker: Being this way, remembering, allowing the rest to begin to click in place.
- 12:18Speaker: Oh yeah.
- 12:19Speaker: I am a bundle of miracles, and I am millions of evolutionary years old in a universe expanding at a million miles an hour.
- 12:35Speaker: Thinking about things like this.
- 12:40Speaker: As the music continues for another minute, ponder, linger, be in awe at one's own being, and our own capabilities to perceive and comprehend.
- 12:57Speaker: Have a fabulous day. namaste
