- 2:42I feel like we're maybe the US key Coliseum because I've been there and it's big and
- 2:46it's awesome.
- 2:47There you go.
- 2:48Even one better, Michelle, that's modern day gladiators, isn't it?
- 2:52Yeah.
- 2:53Yeah.
- 2:54Real life 300.
- 2:55I'm showing up.
- 2:56Real life 300.
- 2:57All right.
- 2:58Let's go throw down.
- 2:59You come on out here.
- 3:00Let's go.
- 3:01Is it roll?
- 3:02We're going to roll as they say, huh?
- 3:03Yeah.
- 3:04Let's do it.
- 3:05I like it.
- 3:06All right.
- 3:07So you obviously have been blown up on the scene with Instagram.
- 3:11You're educating training, originators, loan officers, real estate agents across the
- 3:15country.
- 3:16And first of all, I would just want to applaud you for the impact and difference you're
- 3:20making in our industry.
- 3:22I hear a lot of good stuff from people who are aligning with you and going through your
- 3:25education.
- 3:26Your name has come up a lot over and over again.
- 3:29But here today we're talking, we want to talk about like how do you take extreme ownership,
- 3:34right?
- 3:35Own this sucker and actually grow your influence online with social media.
- 3:42So that's easy.
- 3:43We'll cover that in 20, 30 minutes, right?
- 3:46Oh, for sure.
- 3:48What would you say then is the number one struggle for most people just getting started
- 3:53with just taking ownership of themselves on social?
- 3:57Yeah.
- 3:58So this is such an important conversation.
- 4:00And I think Jeff, you and I have talked so many times about business and being able
- 4:05to develop what you and I both have developed to thus far.
- 4:09And was it easy to get here?
- 4:12Was it easy to get to where you are with your podcast and a lot of the other things that
- 4:16you're doing or for me with the course and you with your book, which is just awesome?
- 4:21And does that happen overnight, and I think a lot of people think and they look at success
- 4:26and they think that you just wake up and end up like that.
- 4:29And you don't first off, but second of all, I think for me, the biggest mindset shift
- 4:35where I really launched my career was when I changed the limiting beliefs that I had in
- 4:41my own mind, right?
- 4:43And I made the decision in my head to say, I don't care that there are other people who
- 4:48have done this, I'm going to do it and I'm going to do it better.
- 4:53I think in your head, it has to start in between your ears and it has to be a conversation
- 4:58that you say.
- 4:59These are the limiting beliefs, these are the things that everybody's always saying that
- 5:02it's hard about social media, but it doesn't have to be hard.
- 5:07And so I'll address the biggest limiting belief in my opinion when it comes to Instagram
- 5:12marketing and using social media as a whole, it's especially when it comes to Instagram.
- 5:19The biggest thing and the most common thing that people tell me is I don't have time for
- 5:22that.
- 5:23And my response to you when people say that is if you don't have time to be communicating
- 5:29and connecting and building relationships with new clients, then you have a bigger problem,
- 5:34I think.
- 5:35In my opinion, whether it's Facebook or Instagram or any other social media platform, if you
- 5:41don't have time to talk to people, then you're in the wrong industry, right?
- 5:46Because as real estate agents, as loan officers, we got to talk to people all the time.
- 5:51And so that's kind of like the biggest thing.
- 5:54It doesn't matter how great your content is right out of the gate.
- 5:58It doesn't matter how good you are at your hashtags right out of the gate.
- 6:01If you're willing to have conversations and you're willing to talk to people, it's going
- 6:06to happen.
- 6:07It's just going to.
- 6:08It's no matter what.
- 6:09So getting out of this mind frame of like, well, I just don't have time for that.
- 6:15I think it's the biggest one.
- 6:18So do you think that's just like a knee jerk reaction, excuse, you know, kind of like in
- 6:21the lender space when, you know, we're prospecting agents and they say, oh, I already have a
- 6:25lender, right?
- 6:26That's just like kind of a knee jerk response that may or may not actually be true.
- 6:30Do you think it's similar for people with that response on social?
- 6:33I just don't have time for that.
- 6:35Yeah, 100% I 1000% believe it.
- 6:38And I think the reason that they say they don't have time leads into multiple other things,
- 6:44but one of which being, I don't even know how to get started.
- 6:47So I'm not going to take the time to figure out how to get started.
- 6:49I'm just going to say I don't have time for it.
- 6:52Yeah, because it's going to require work to require learning some new skill.
- 6:56Mm-hmm.
- 6:57It's a skill and it's going to take some time, you know.
- 7:02So how do you help people overcome that?
- 7:03How do you help them get through it?
- 7:04I mean, you know, there's got to be a reason why, like, why would I be willing to take
- 7:08this on?
- 7:09If I don't see the payoff, I'm going to be like, yeah, just that, you know?
- 7:14Yeah, to answer your question, how do I help them do that?
- 7:21The ultimate answer is when I was developing what I now call the Instagram power message,
- 7:26I went undercover a little bit and I took some of the social media classes that are out
- 7:30there with brokerages and other loan offices, like, you know, lender offices that are hosting
- 7:35them or sponsoring them or whatever.
- 7:37And I've done my fair share of conferences and sitting in on some of them.
- 7:42And to me, the biggest problem was they were really informational.
- 7:47They were very 30,000 foot view, like, let's empower you and let's inspire you.
- 7:51But where's the tangible action?
- 7:53Where's the item that I can leave here with and go home and actually do and see immediate
- 8:00progress?
- 8:01Right.
- 8:02So everybody's all about Instagram education, everybody's all about if I don't see progress
- 8:06or any kind of forward motion, then it just doesn't work.
- 8:10So you're saying you give them very tangible homework assignments and action steps to,
- 8:13you know, essentially baby steps to get started, right?
- 8:15Yeah.
- 8:16And it has to start from before we ever even post on Instagram.
- 8:20So you don't have to think the very first thing I need to do is just put something out there.
- 8:25That's not the answer, right?
- 8:26Like there's things that go in and well before that to make it so that once you do start
- 8:31showing up, you're so confident in the content you're putting out that it's really, it almost
- 8:38becomes fun.
- 8:39And it's like a creative outlet for you to be able to showcase your expertise.
- 8:43Awesome.
- 8:44Hey, Kimberly, thanks for letting us know you hear us both.
- 8:47We'd love to know, Kimberly, since you stepped up your chance to win a free book.
- 8:50What's your question?
- 8:51What's your number one struggle with social media?
- 8:54Go ahead.
- 8:55Your answer.
- 8:56We want to know now.
- 8:58That's why we have the Jeopardy music.
- 8:59So let's do this.
- 9:02Let's fast forward this a little bit.
- 9:04What's, share some of the payoff, some of the results by people following your teachings,
- 9:09right?
- 9:10Some of the results people have been able to get.
- 9:11Yeah.
- 9:12So the one, I'll give her an amazing shout out, Chef Chi is a student of mine here, I actually
- 9:17live in Phoenix.
- 9:18And she's a realtor here in Phoenix as well.
- 9:20Her name is Sherry Smith.
- 9:21So if you guys look her up on Instagram, Sherry Smith realtor.
- 9:25And her, like just when she first started, I gotta say this laughingly, but when she first
- 9:31started with me, I believe it was November of last year, she was really hard as a student
- 9:36for me in the sense of every single thing was question after question after question.
- 9:42She was really involved in trying to do the homework, but it was like every single time
- 9:47she was going through, it was like more and more and more questions.
- 9:50It was one of those things as a coach and as somebody who does this for my own business,
- 9:55I was like, okay, Sherry, let's just trust me, let's just keep moving forward.
- 10:00And she did the whole time, every single time she gave me a lot of pushback, but it helped
- 10:05me grow as a coach and it also turned into in May.
- 10:10So we're in June right now, but in May this last month, she had her best month ever as
- 10:15a real estate agent.
- 10:16Because eight transactions in one month and she was doing two, three, maybe, and she
- 10:23did eight.
- 10:24And when she DMs me on Instagram to tell me about her success in May, she was like, I
- 10:29could almost feel her crying like through the DM because she was so emotional about the
- 10:33fact that four of the eight had come directly through DMs.
- 10:37And it was from people in her SOI who didn't even know that she was a real estate agent until
- 10:43they started following her on social media.
- 10:45And it was like, as a coach, I could have just quit there and been like, I've done my job,
- 10:51you know?
- 10:52And Kimberly, I see your question.
- 10:54We'll get to in a second.
- 10:55So how long had she been working with you up until this recent win?
- 11:00So she started with me in November, she was on a team of I think four or five other agents
- 11:06that had bought the course all together.
- 11:09And she started then, she was doing all of the coaching calls with me, and I'm sorry
- 11:13for coaching every single week for the teams, and then I often do your coaching for the
- 11:17individuals that join.
- 11:20And she was there.
- 11:21She was show up every single week for her coaching all the way through, like, mid March.
- 11:25And then she stopped the coaching.
- 11:27She was really confident in her delivery of everything and she was showing up so well.
- 11:32And then all of a sudden, like, it just exploded.
- 11:37So about four months, and by the way, this is the question that she was working with you
- 11:41for about four months.
- 11:42So Kimberly's biggest frustration or challenge.
- 11:44What's up, Kimberly?
- 11:45Hey, I sent you a book.
- 11:46Did you get your book yet?
- 11:47I'd love to know, but thank you for being here and participating.
- 11:51We appreciate you, high five.
- 11:53Being consistent.
- 11:54I would have to agree with Kimberly that it's hard, and I'll share my little angle on
- 12:00that.
- 12:01It's hard to be consistent.
- 12:02And I think part of the reason is you can speak to this is because we often feel
- 12:06pressure that we also have to be consistent and be everywhere on social.
- 12:11So I'd love for you to kind of unpack the consistency thing and then how those two are tied
- 12:15together.
- 12:16Yeah.
- 12:17So I love Kimberly's question.
- 12:19And that's one of the other limiting beliefs I think in my opinion when it comes to Instagram
- 12:24is that if you don't show up constantly that you're going to fail.
- 12:29And I don't believe in that.
- 12:30What I do believe, however, in is creating a content calendar and having a content calendar
- 12:35that does the work for you.
- 12:38So a content calendar itself, Kimberly says she hasn't gotten your book yet, Jeff.
- 12:44Thank you.
- 12:45Thank you.
- 12:46Oh, no.
- 12:50So creating a content calendar, it's not just writing in Excel spreadsheet that says what
- 12:55you're posting on what day.
- 12:56What the content calendar does and the way that I teach the content calendar is to make
- 13:01your four pillar pieces of content.
- 13:04And I talk about that a lot in my Facebook group and other places.
- 13:06So if you guys want to know what those four pillars are, we can address that later.
- 13:10But those four pillar types of content, if you have them and you know what they are,
- 13:16then on a Sunday when your kids are playing in the backyard or your, you know, out what's
- 13:23a good example.
- 13:24Like for me personally on Sunday morning, we get up, we have coffee, we watch our dogs
- 13:27play and we watch church.
- 13:29So right before church, we have like an hour of downtime.
- 13:32And so for me, that's when I plan out my entire week.
- 13:34So I don't plan 30 days in advance either.
- 13:36So I know Kimberly saying she struggles with content calendars.
- 13:40I don't plan 30 days at a time.
- 13:42I know what's coming down the pipeline that far.
- 13:46But I plan seven days in advance and I get really consistent at doing seven days.
- 13:52And the content I find when I only batch seven days at a time is stronger is in my opinion
- 13:58more valuable because I'm more passionate about it when I'm writing it.
- 14:02And I already know, hey, I have a lifestyle image coming up on Friday.
- 14:06And by the way, Friday happens to be my birthday, easy picture for me to use.
- 14:10Right?
- 14:11I can plan things out in advance.
- 14:13And then, you know, if I want to be spontaneous and I want to show up with something grand
- 14:16on that day, it'll go in my stories.
- 14:18Yeah, for sure.
- 14:19And I know you're a big fan of using a scheduler.
- 14:23You're a fan of planaly.
- 14:25Yep.
- 14:26Right?
- 14:27Which is a third party scheduling tool.
- 14:30Is it?
- 14:31I know that it probably you choose that.
- 14:32I think bottom line is this is using a scheduler helps you free up your time, right?
- 14:37Because I think the pressure is is like you feel like, okay, if I got a, if I got a post
- 14:40five days a week, let's say, or three days or seven, whatever your number is, then I've
- 14:44got to like physically get on there.
- 14:45Think about it.
- 14:46What you're doing is you're scheduling this all in advance and it's posting automatically,
- 14:49right?
- 14:50Yep.
- 14:51Okay.
- 14:52Yeah.
- 14:54No, I was just going to say planaly.
- 14:55The reason I also only do seven days at a time is a lot of people ask the question of,
- 15:01well, I want to make sure that when I am showing up, it's authentic.
- 15:03And it's, you know, what happens if I want to be spontaneous or I don't want to post pictures
- 15:08from two years ago, because then it's not really me anymore, you know?
- 15:12So for me, that's why seven days is my recommendation always.
- 15:16And yes, I have a 30 day content calendar built out.
- 15:19So I know what's coming.
- 15:21Again, taking it in bite-sized chunks, I think that that'll be like our theme is so much
- 15:26more powerful because anybody can plan seven days.
- 15:30It's not hard.
- 15:31And you're not going far enough out where you feel like, well, crap, if I have a listing
- 15:35that I have scheduled for Wednesday and on Thursday, it's already under contract, but I
- 15:39don't have another listing post for 10 days, then what do I do?
- 15:43Yeah.
- 15:44So because it's only seven days at a time, you don't ever run into those kinds of things.
- 15:47You're sitting down like, I think you said, was it a Sunday or you pick one day kind
- 15:51of at the front of the week, and you kind of map out how long does it take you to map
- 15:55out your week's posts?
- 15:57Like literally maybe an hour at most, yeah.
- 16:01So because of the content calendar, because I know what I'm posting on what days, I can
- 16:05all I have to do is write my captions.
- 16:07Like I have to write seven captions, you know, and make sure that, you know, if you guys
- 16:11have ever, or if you guys consume me on Instagram, you know, I write pretty long captions.
- 16:15It's just kind of how I do things.
- 16:18So not everybody writes quite as much as I do, but for me to write seven captions and make
- 16:23sure that they're all scheduled on the right days and times is maybe an hour.
- 16:27So then the name of the game is, you've got your posts scheduled, and everybody asks like,
- 16:31hey, what's the best time to post, right?
- 16:33I don't know what your take is on all that, I think that's nonsense.
- 16:36No, so there is the best time to post for your audience.
- 16:39And the problem is that everyone likes to lump themselves into one group.
- 16:44Oh, well, all this Google it.
- 16:46And the best time of day to post on Instagram is 2 p.m., and the answer is that that's not
- 16:50true.
- 16:51Every single one of us, so I know, you know, even me and you, Jeff, right?
- 16:54We have totally similar audiences in many cases with real estate agents and law officers.
- 17:00But the way that your audience consumes your Instagram is different than the way my audience
- 17:04consumes my Instagram.
- 17:06So the quick schedule feature that is part of Planoly is designed specifically to look
- 17:13at your audience and the times of days that your audience consumes your content the most.
- 17:19And then it gives you a quick schedule, that's a weird word to say fast feature where
- 17:24you can choose one of the top three times for every single day of the week.
- 17:29So I mean, I know Kim really is on here, so with us and, you know, for Kim really,
- 17:33her content is going to look totally different than me and yours.
- 17:37And so now let's just continue to carry this out.
- 17:39So you've got, you've taken your day, you're Sunday, you're Monday, whatever, you've
- 17:43scheduled out your next seven days, let's say.
- 17:45And so then the name of the game is for you at those times or when you can, is you're
- 17:52engaging, like people that are leaving comments, how do you manage the engagement side of things?
- 17:58So I actually have a structured engagement assignment, if you will, a daily homework assignment
- 18:06that involves for me personally, it's going to look a little bit different.
- 18:09For my students, the way that I structure it is the total 45 comments a day and a total
- 18:14of 20 to 30 story replies per day.
- 18:17And keep in mind that story replies show up in your DMs.
- 18:21So that's where those private messages get developed or those conversations get developed.
- 18:26And then 45 comments is not just 45 comments on whatever really nearly, there's a structure
- 18:30and a strategy there.
- 18:32And my assistant Sarah and I, we had a test, we like battled each other to see who could
- 18:37do this fastest.
- 18:38And it took me less than 18 minutes, I think it was like 17 minutes and 47 seconds or
- 18:43something like that to do 45 comments and 30 story replies.
- 18:48So it was really fast.
- 18:50Aren't you, I mean, those comments and the engagement on your social media profile isn't
- 18:55kind of coming all in one like our segment, right?
- 18:58It's going to be scattered out throughout the day.
- 19:00So no, I mean, you don't have to do it scattered throughout the day.
- 19:03I mean, for me, do I reply to comments that people leave when they get them?
- 19:07So I have my post notifications turned on.
- 19:10So if someone comments on my piece of content that goes out at let's say two in the afternoon,
- 19:15I will obviously see that.
- 19:16I'll be able to jump in and leave my comment or leave my response to their comment.
- 19:21However, the structured daily engagement homework can be done whenever you want to do
- 19:26and you can do it in one sitting.
- 19:28And again, that homework is designed to be structured to be on certain places on the
- 19:33platform.
- 19:34So that you can generate new eyeballs for your content.
- 19:37Okay.
- 19:38That's good stuff.
- 19:39So what I'm hearing overall is to succeed on social, to have extreme ownership, to grow
- 19:43your influence.
- 19:44You need to have a plan.
- 19:45A plan that is strategy, you just can't wing it and just go, oh, it's Tuesday.
- 19:49I got up 15 minutes.
- 19:50I think I'll like build my social media brand.
- 19:53No, definitely not.
- 19:56And when I say extreme ownership, if I can, Jeff, and I love your opinion on this too,
- 20:00because I obviously value your opinion.
- 20:02And I think that you're somebody who motivates me and makes me want to be better and I hope
- 20:07that that's vice versa.
- 20:09But when it comes to taking ownership of it, I posted a video on my Facebook a few minutes
- 20:16before we started our live here.
- 20:18And one of the things that I talk about is when I first decided to start teaching this,
- 20:23when I first decided I'm going to create Instagram power method, I was making really good
- 20:28money as an influencer, helping people buy and sell and generate ROI on products and helping
- 20:35them with that.
- 20:37But I quit that.
- 20:38I gave up all of it.
- 20:39I point blanks said, I'm done with doing it for everybody else and not helping anybody
- 20:46specifically and not helping empower people.
- 20:49So I talked about this openly and freely, but when I first decided to quit that, I went
- 20:55from making really good money to making maybe $4,000 a month and barely able to pay my bills.
- 21:04But in that decision, I went all in and I said to myself, the only way I can fail is if
- 21:12I just don't do it.
- 21:14And I knew that I could do it.
- 21:16And so making that decision sometimes, and obviously deciding to do Instagram is probably
- 21:22not as big of a scary decision as that was.
- 21:25But the moral of it is the same is that it's going to take work and you're going to have
- 21:29to do the work in order for it to happen, you know, and fast forward to where we are now.
- 21:34And I'm so incredibly grateful for my husband and for the mind frame that him and I were
- 21:40in.
- 21:41It's okay if we go to that place because we're going to be way better off and I'm going
- 21:46to be way more fulfilled doing it.
- 21:49There's a lot in there, by the way, and absolutely, you should take ownership of the impact
- 21:53you're making for people, but you opened up talking about, I don't remember exactly, but
- 21:58basically it's one of the ways or one of the things that the roadblocks or the resistance
- 22:03that people have with social life face this, you probably as well, is putting yourself
- 22:07out there, right?
- 22:09And I did a session with Shay Robot, a few weeks ago, and that she talked about, you've
- 22:13got to be okay with being wrong sometimes.
- 22:16And you've got to be okay with people not liking it, not being, you know, you're not for
- 22:24everybody.
- 22:25And if you're going to put yourself out there, that's taking a risk in and out of itself.
- 22:29And I think you've got to get in the mindset, right, in the confidence, like you have evolved
- 22:33to obviously extremely confident, where it's just like, look, this is who I am, this is
- 22:37what I stand for, and this is my platform, right?
- 22:40And so there's no stopping you from here on out.
- 22:43Yeah, no, I agree with you, and I appreciate you, and I know, you know, Jeff, you've
- 22:48known me from before the Instagram power method even launched, you were part of that.
- 22:53And I think that to me, the scariest thing is making the decision to say, I don't know
- 22:59how to do this, and I'm okay with the fact that I don't know how to do this, but I'm going
- 23:04to be okay with asking questions from people who have already walked in my, you know, walk
- 23:10the path that I want to walk down.
- 23:13You know, the Phil Treadwells of the world, you obviously, people that have been huge
- 23:17influences in my career that have helped me, you know, when I first met both you and
- 23:23Phil Treadwell, I had zero, I had nothing to show for my hard work at that point, because
- 23:29I had just had seven months of grinding, trying to build this monster of course, but I had
- 23:34no results to show for it.
- 23:37And I think it's you.
- 23:39Yeah, I don't know, I think it's just the decision you have to be okay with thinking.
- 23:42Oh, it's absolutely decision.
- 23:44And it's just, you know, it's like it's revealed on the way that you don't get all the answers
- 23:47up front, right?
- 23:48It's revealed with every step you take.
- 23:51Speaking of being transparent and being willing to expose that you don't know everything,
- 23:55you mentioned earlier just a few minutes ago that you posted a story that mentioned me
- 24:00about us going live earlier, and so, you know, you probably can't see it here with the
- 24:06glare, but for people watching or listening, oftentimes when people mention you in their
- 24:10story, you're given the option to add to your story when that comes in, right?
- 24:15So here's what I'm not sure on is exactly how I should, what's the best practice on that?
- 24:20Because if I click add to my story, that's cool.
- 24:24I mean, I think in the past, I've, you know, I'm adding like, do I, do I, do I tag you?
- 24:29Do I add some comments?
- 24:30I mean, how would I best repurpose your story that mentions me?
- 24:34So great question, and my suggestion to you would be to re-share it into your stories.
- 24:40It automatically tagged me because I'm the one that created it, but if you do like a little
- 24:45blurb at the bottom, you know, something about me, something about you and I as friends,
- 24:49something about how you're excited about going live, whatever the feedback or the statement
- 24:53is that you want to make, I think I posted a little feedback on it when I posted it about
- 24:58you.
- 24:59So just like a little, a little blurb, it doesn't have to be like a full sentence.
- 25:03It can just be a quick statement.
- 25:06So the best practice as a whole, if somebody tags me in their stories, whether it's a client,
- 25:12whether it's a sponsor, whether it's, you know, you or somebody who I'm doing business
- 25:17with, if that makes sense, I will always re-share it.
- 25:21I will tell you that there's a lot of spam in this world.
- 25:24So don't re-share stuff that doesn't align with your business or the way that you do
- 25:30things.
- 25:31Right.
- 25:32And be cognizant of that and make educated decisions for yourself.
- 25:35But I would definitely re-share as much of it as possible.
- 25:39And the reason being is it doubles the number of eyeballs on your content, right?
- 25:44So if I share you in my story, you now get my entire audience.
- 25:50If you re-share me and yours, I now get your entire audience.
- 25:53Will there be overlap, probably a little bit, but not entirely?
- 25:58Yeah.
- 25:59No, but that's cool.
- 26:00Well, awesome, because I'm definitely going to re-share this afterwards.
- 26:03So I just wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly on that.
- 26:06Thank you.
- 26:07Let's do this.
- 26:08Let's pivot for a second and talk about some of the new features on Instagram, because Instagram
- 26:14over the last several months has really come out with some cool things that you are better
- 26:18equipped to talk about.
- 26:19So what are some of your favorite new Instagram features?
- 26:23I just took a picture of us, by the way, for Instagram stories.
- 26:26Hey, no, so you're so good.
- 26:28You remind me to do that all the time.
- 26:29Let's see, which screen should I use?
- 26:31The little one or this one?
- 26:32All right, here we go.
- 26:33Boom, good to go.
- 26:34Got to do vertical, though, right?
- 26:36Got to do vertical?
- 26:37Yes.
- 26:38Look at that.
- 26:39I just caught myself.
- 26:40OK, come on.
- 26:41I love it.
- 26:42So one of my personal favorite new features is this small business tag where you can tag
- 26:48the person's, like you can tag Instagram pages anyway, but it's kind of like giving a
- 26:54small business a shout out and the way that, and I'll do this with you, but the way that
- 26:59this kind of works and I think is super cool.
- 27:03Let me save that picture before I lose it and hold on.
- 27:06But if you click that little sticker and then mine is, my small business one is gone.
- 27:12Oh, no, here it is.
- 27:14It's farther down.
- 27:15Oops, this way.
- 27:16So down here, it's this one.
- 27:20So if you click support small business, then you can tag them.
- 27:23So I'll just tag, let's say, Sweet's Brew, because it's like my favorite coffee shop.
- 27:28And then what it does is it shows, oops, this way, ah, there we go.
- 27:33It shows their rating.
- 27:35It shows their business.
- 27:36It'll show a couple photos from their page.
- 27:39So the way I look at it is it's like a little advertisement for one of your favorite
- 27:44businesses that you're promoting.
- 27:46Is that for stories specifically?
- 27:49Yes.
- 27:50Okay.
- 27:51Got it.
- 27:52So if I go to Sweet's Brew, let's just say, so that's a really amazing coffee shop here
- 27:56in Gilbert.
- 27:58And if I go there and I tag them and support small, using the small business support tag,
- 28:03if I were to click that, let's post it, for example, as like a test and I'll show you
- 28:07what this does here.
- 28:09I can even pull up your Instagram and do a screen share.
- 28:13So you can't post stories from your computer, by the way.
- 28:17That is true.
- 28:19Yeah.
- 28:20So what happens when you post it is, so it might just went live and now you can see that
- 28:25small business tag there.
- 28:26So if you click on the small business, it's going to show their profile and it's also
- 28:30going to allow you to follow them from right there.
- 28:34Instead of having to actually go to their page, you can follow them.
- 28:38You can follow them right there.
- 28:40So you can see I'm already following them, so I don't need to.
- 28:43But Jeff, if you were to go to my store and click on that, you'd be able to have the
- 28:46option to follow them as well.
- 28:49And of course, then it's going to take them or take the user to be able to go to their
- 28:53profile and consume it.
- 28:55Got it.
- 28:56All right.
- 28:57So you like that?
- 28:58Giving shout outs and props to local businesses you love?
- 29:00Hunter percent.
- 29:01I think it's so important.
- 29:02And again, the goal being that they're going to now reshare you to duplicate the number
- 29:07of eyeballs.
- 29:08People about how many SOIs can I tap into that have audiences that matter to me?
- 29:13Right.
- 29:14So this is kind of highlighting the sticker right there.
- 29:16So people, if you're watching, you can see it.
- 29:17It says support small business.
- 29:18It's one of those story stickers.
- 29:20Stay at home.
- 29:21It's a new one they came out with.
- 29:22Have you been using thank you at all?
- 29:25I haven't.
- 29:26No.
- 29:27But I think it's just another way of, again, shouting out and supporting people.
- 29:31Yeah.
- 29:32Just giving a knowledge of it to somebody.
- 29:34Okay.
- 29:35Cool.
- 29:36So what else is new with Instagram stories?
- 29:37So for me, one of the things, there's a little bit of a hack for people who want to be
- 29:41able to share links and URLs in their stories without having to have 10,000 followers.
- 29:47So I don't have 10,000 followers.
- 29:50And I, you know, I'm sure I will at some point, probably hopefully in the near future.
- 29:54But has that changed the way I do business?
- 29:57No.
- 29:58Because if you create IGTV videos and you share them in your stories, you can actually
- 30:05have a swipe up feature to get them to click or to actually get them to swipe up.
- 30:09And then they get to watch that whole IGTV video.
- 30:13Or you can also send them to an external URL there through that.
- 30:18So a little bit of a hack work around, if you will, because I think a lot of people are
- 30:22like, oh, I want the swipe up feature so that I can sell this or I can sell that or I can
- 30:25send people to a news article.
- 30:28But the IGTV video, so if you were, let's say for example, we recorded a video about
- 30:34the interest rate being like rock bottom right now.
- 30:37And here in Phoenix, the inventory is so low.
- 30:41I know that that's common everywhere for the most part right now.
- 30:44But especially for me, I know obviously my home market and Phoenix is very, very low.
- 30:49So let's say I have a news article that I want to share.
- 30:52If I record a video talking about interest rates and talking about how low the inventory
- 30:56is here, then I can post that video as an IGTV video and have a swipe up link that will
- 31:02send them to a URL of a news article about it.
- 31:07And I can do that through my stories because of the way that the IGTV linking is set up.
- 31:12Yeah, that's cool.
- 31:13I like that.
- 31:14Or functionality.
- 31:15And the fact that we can get people to swipe up without having 10,000 followers.
- 31:18Yeah, because I feel like everybody wants that.
- 31:21And then I feel like I have to let them down and be like, I'm sorry, but you have to have
- 31:2410,000 followers.
- 31:25Yeah, yeah, which is kind of silly.
- 31:29Okay, and specifically students were on video, I don't know if this covers it already.
- 31:35What's your take on Instagram live IGTV?
- 31:39So difference though between Instagram TV and IG live, I personally, I don't go live
- 31:45very much on Instagram, I go live more so on Facebook.
- 31:50And for me, you know, I say this selfishly in the sense, but for me to go live on Facebook
- 31:56helps me with ads and retargeting people and that kind of thing, whereas you can do that
- 32:01with Instagram, but I just personally do it on Facebook.
- 32:05So you can do it both ways, but my take on IGTV is you should be using it as much as possible.
- 32:12And I teach my students to have an IGTV channel so they can use their value series content
- 32:17and put it in a channel.
- 32:19So if they want to talk about interest rates or the inventory in their markets, whatever,
- 32:25record a video about it, post it on your feed, add it to your Instagram TV channel, then
- 32:31Instagram becomes you to become Facebook, it becomes all of these other platforms and
- 32:36all of these other social media platforms in one.
- 32:38So I mean, I know you talked about repurposing content and how you feel like you have to
- 32:42be everywhere, Instagram gives you the capability to basically have the same kind of content
- 32:48you would on all of those platforms on one.
- 32:52Yeah, I agree with you on the IGTV thing, I've been experimenting with that lately.
- 32:56And of course, then you can run ads, leveraging some of that data on viewers and things like
- 33:01that.
- 33:02Yeah.
- 33:03100% you can retarget it.
- 33:04Interesting.
- 33:05It's always baffled me as to why Instagram is the one platform you cannot simulcast live
- 33:10to.
- 33:11Still, like, you know, right now we're on two, three, two groups and one page on Facebook
- 33:17and YouTube can't do this on Instagram.
- 33:20I don't know.
- 33:21You got to be on the app.
- 33:23You got to talk to Mark, he's talking to work about that, maybe he'll have an insight
- 33:29that we don't have.
- 33:30I don't know.
- 33:31There's the only holdout.
- 33:32You could do it to LinkedIn, you know what I mean?
- 33:33But I guess they want, you know, it's the whole native platform thing, which, you know,
- 33:38they've made some enhancements that I found it to be easier for users, such as, like,
- 33:42you used to have to post from the app and all that kind of jazz.
- 33:45And, you know, I mean, that's gotten a little bit opened up, which is cool.
- 33:48Yep.
- 33:49You can DM from your computer now, like, do all your comments and you're liking from
- 33:53your desktop.
- 33:54Like, when you sent me the link for, you know, me to join you, right?
- 33:56I just opened it up on my desktop through the Instagram app.
- 33:59I didn't have to do it through my phone.
- 34:01Exactly.
- 34:02So it's definitely become more user friendly, for sure.
- 34:05Yeah.
- 34:06And right now, I, in full transparency, people, I use Creator Studio.
- 34:10That's what I use.
- 34:11Again, any two cents about that?
- 34:13I mean, I, I don't not like Creator Studio, but it's just not personally what I use and
- 34:20it's not personally what I teach solely because of the structure and the way that I teach
- 34:26Instagram.
- 34:27You know, but I think Creator Studio, of course, has its place.
- 34:31And you can schedule IDTV videos through Creator Studio, which you can't do through,
- 34:36certainly, which is what I use, but, you know, there's other benefits to not using Creator
- 34:42Studio.
- 34:43Yeah.
- 34:44And having, you know, being a creator account versus being a professional account slash
- 34:48business account, they all have their own pros and cons.
- 34:51I think you have to make a decision that's best for you and for your business.
- 34:53100%.
- 34:54You know, the next thing you got to do, you've got to get educated.
- 34:57You've got to learn.
- 34:58You've got to get the skills.
- 34:59I mean, you know, a classic cliche example I use when people, you know, we talk about
- 35:03it's hard, right?
- 35:04Ownership is hard, like growing a brand is hard.
- 35:06It is.
- 35:07And guess what else is hard or has been hard in your life that was once hard, but now is
- 35:11easy, but worth doing how many things in your life were like that driving a car?
- 35:16So many.
- 35:17For example, right?
- 35:18Relationships, raising kids, whatever, fill in the blank, you've done a lot of hard things
- 35:22already.
- 35:24There's a famous quote.
- 35:25I love that.
- 35:26Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly in the beginning, right?
- 35:30Because, you know, that's how you get good at something is you start out sucking at
- 35:34it.
- 35:36So we're all at different levels of not doing well, but you've got to send a path.
- 35:40What I love about you is let's briefly talk about your Instagram power method.
- 35:43You're helping originators and real estate professionals level up their Instagram game.
- 35:48Tell us a little bit about that and then let's give out the link and how people can learn
- 35:51more.
- 35:52Yeah.
- 35:53So two seconds before I do that is I freaking love what you just said.
- 35:58And I will, I know for sure that you all agree with me based off what you just said, but
- 36:03I personally think that the things that are the most fulfilling in my life, not just
- 36:08personally, but in my career.
- 36:10And just in general is the things that felt so freaking hard when I was starting because
- 36:17I, I had there are many days where I've sat in this office that I'm currently sitting
- 36:20in and I was crying and thinking like there's no way I'm going to be able to figure out
- 36:23how to do this.
- 36:25And they are so fulfilling when you get over the hump of it.
- 36:29And as long as you make one small step forward every day, it makes a huge difference.
- 36:36So to answer your question about the Instagram power method.
- 36:39So yes, the name of the program that I've created is the Instagram power method.
- 36:43I created it and launched it in July of 2019.
- 36:47The program itself is a total of 65 videos currently with two brand new modules coming,
- 36:52including one about IGTV and how to create that video series channel, how to use and create
- 36:58value series content out of IGTV.
- 37:01Also there's a new module called DM like a boss and learning how to DM in a way that creates
- 37:06conversion for you that moves your leads from like that cold status and to warm status
- 37:11into a hot lead that's ready to work with you.
- 37:15And the way that the course is designed is throughout the videos with the total of 65
- 37:19and no fee.
- 37:20I believe 72 after both of those modules are done, but there's also 17 handouts.
- 37:27So all 17 of those handouts are my brain on paper to help make it really easy and tangible
- 37:33for you guys to do the homework assignments to get to the promised land, as I like to
- 37:39say.
- 37:40And what I'm going to do, and obviously Jeff and I can work together on this too, but
- 37:45I'd like to add a module in there with all of my podcast interviews and things that
- 37:49I've done with people that's kind of like a bonus reel to help just give golden nuggets
- 37:52to people.
- 37:53So the course itself is available for monthly payment plan as well as a one time fee
- 37:59depending on how you want to do that.
- 38:01And Jeff, I know you own the course, so I'm sure you can attest to all the stuff that's
- 38:05in there.
- 38:06Yeah, I'm still going through the data, man, there's just so much information in there.
- 38:10So I think you've done a really great job packaging up and making it easy to understand
- 38:14and apply.
- 38:15Like you said, step by step, you know what I mean, we're not trying to become instant
- 38:19Instagram, you know, get a million followers.
- 38:21We're just trying to build our influence on our personal brand kind of in our pocket of
- 38:24the world.
- 38:25Yep.
- 38:26You don't have to talk to everybody.
- 38:27You just have to talk to the right people.
- 38:28Well, I like that.
- 38:29All right.
- 38:30So what's the URL for this thing?
- 38:31So I can put it in the notes here in the thread.
- 38:34So BermanMediaPD.com will help you.
- 38:38Let me give you the URL if you want me to, Jeff.
- 38:41I got it right here.
- 38:42BermanMediaPD.com.
- 38:43Yeah.
- 38:44We're going to get started.
- 38:46Yeah.
- 38:47I would just make sure that it works on your end because sometimes it can be fidgety if
- 38:50it's spelled weird.
- 38:51Oh, actually, here's what I'll do.
- 38:52I'll give them the actual, you know, it's because that's a redirect.
- 38:54So I'm going to put the actual real link in there.
- 38:57Is that cool?
- 38:58Sure.
- 38:59Yeah.
- 39:00The redirect is the pretty link, but the actual link, there you go.
- 39:01Yeah.
- 39:02There you go.
- 39:03Make it easy.
- 39:04Yeah.
- 39:05I don't know if I can put a comment in the chat box or not, but if you, if you want
- 39:08to, my Instagram handle is just BermanMedia social.
- 39:12So you guys are welcome to check my stuff out there.
- 39:16But some exciting news, you know, in general, I have a lot of really big things coming in
