- Alex: Welcome to another edition of the Unsexy Podcast, where we talk about the unsexy side of everything. Today is episode nine, check-in eight, throwing it over to Eric. Aaron: All right, Alejandro. let's start with your weight. Alex: one sixty four point four. Aaron: Yes Yes. Alex: To be fair, I was travelling a lot and it's been w okay, okay, okay, okay. Well no no no Aaron: Nope, nope, nope. It's because just everything's working. Just checking. Alex: I was just like I don't have like a good average, so I just did today's number. Aaron: No, I'm just joking. yeah, we we got back from Los Angeles, I guess Long Beach recently, so Alex: Sad hellas. Aaron: amount of workouts that you accomplished? Alex: So I think Aaron: Five. And I wanna point out, Alex and I had a family, I don't know, whatever, a funeral. I'll just say it. shouldn't shouldn't Alex: So give us sympathy. Aaron: shouldn't be like off putting, like fuck that happens. yeah. How dare you go to a funeral? Alex: Why the fuck do you go to a funeral? They'll find a way. They'll find a way to get mad about it. What Aaron: I but the whole point I'm bringing that up is still able to get workouts in when you're on the road. Like even the I guess this is kind of we could kinda talk about this a little bit. The equipment at our at the hotel we were out actually wasn't horrible. Wasn't like there wasn't a lot. Alex: Because it 'cause it had the cables and the fifty Aaron: Yes. Alex: like up to fifty worth of dumbbells. Yeah. Aaron: Yes. And so you you could still kind of like kind of MacGyver things and for people who don't know that is, look it up. probably our our audience knows who MacGyver is. but and still trying to 'cause I was doing the same thing where I didn't it doesn't have I mean, there's probably like Five pieces of lifting equipment there. whereas at my gym there's fifty. the the point being is that you can still get your workouts in, even though it's not the exact same. The point is that you're doing something. and then your macros for how many days did you adhere to your macros? Alex: six of seven. Aaron: Okay. and your average steps? Alex: the stuff that I need to have ready that I don't have ready. I was trying to think, I Aaron: Damn it. Alex: was like, what's the stuff that I'm supposed to have? Steps. Aaron: Who am I? Alex: Week. Last week. hun probably like close to eighteen. So let's just say like sixteen thousand, because I think this is a little excessive. So sixteen thousand. Aaron: Good lord. okay. All right, now let's scroll down to this. Alex: Dude, I was actually surprised I was getting steps because I got steps on the funeral day and I don't feel like we walked a ton that day. That's why I have no idea. I I still did Aaron: Where'd you get your steps from? I had to go to the I had to go to the gym and go walk on the treadmill for like an hour. Alex: go to the gym and walk on the treadmill, but it was only for like twenty minutes, which, you know, that's two thousand steps, but I was anyways, I was j I was just pleasantly surprised, like, I had to have missed one of these two days. I didn't though. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know where you got I don't know where you got your stuff 'cause we it was more a lot of sitting at the funeral than it was like walking around. but good. Alex: Yeah. Strange for a funeral. Aaron: let's see. All right, any wins and ach or slash achievements for this past week? Alex: wins I don't like I I guess the wins would be I survived ten days of working out not in a real gym. So using the home gym and then using the hotel gym and that Aaron: that's r Yes. Alex: just, you know, people out there that aren't able to go to the gym or have to like don't have the right equipment, you're doing the Lord's work if you're able to do all the stuff that you need to do. So I just feel like Aaron: Yeah, yeah, seriously. Alex: I'm in prison like all day because I work from home. Like, you have such a hard life. Like, I'll tell Aaron: Yeah. Alex: you what, like as as much as like it is nice to like work from home, there is a little bit of jealousy I have and just like I like have to just make up things like looks I'm going to Costco again. Looks like Aaron: Like isolation. Alex: Yeah, just stuck in the same place for an entire day is not great for the mind. But anyways, win survive ten days. Aaron: Yes. Yes. That's also how you know you're getting old when you're excited to go to Costco. it is I I like going to Costco. Alex: best. It's the best. Ten minutes away. Aaron: struggles and or obstacles. Alex: arm's still killing, so I went to the doctor today to get it checked out and they're like, Yep, you just gotta lift way less and ice it, stretch it, do all the the stuff. So that was nice to have to pay $120 to learn what I already knew. But at least a doctor now told me, so I can like, Okay, I guess I have to do this now. Aaron: Already knew, yeah. Yes. Was he using ChatGPT to give you your diagnosis? It's like, all right, so where does it hurt? Alex: No seriously it's like, well, like what it could be. I guess I should be happy though, because he's just like it does it's it's bad, but like it's not none of these things where like all right let's go get an x-ray or let's go let's go do surgery or stop lifting Aaron: Was Alex: altogether. Aaron: what what did he do to like test it? Alex: He's like doing a lot of like pressure points. Like he's doing like elbow check. Aaron: Just feeling could could he feel the inflammation? Alex: no, he was doing it just based on a bunch of he did like this weird thumb test where I could go like this and like pulls my thumb back to see Aaron: Yeah. Alex: like if there's any pain to make sure it wasn't. He's like, you might be like a muscular tear of some sort, but if it was significant, Aaron: Tear. Yeah. Alex: you would be in a a lot of pain. Aaron: lot more pain. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. yeah, I'm I'm running the same thing. My my shoulder's killing me. and I was like, you know, I didn't go to the doctor. I used Chat GPT. I was like, it's this, would I do this exercise at this angle? This this is like that might be a rotator cuff. I like, God damn it. but I was just like, all right. I mean it's kind of the same thing. It's like you all right, well how do I, you know what extras what exercises can I do to strengthen my rotator cuff and then what can I do what kind of exercise can I do. 'Cause it was I was when I was doing my it was a chest day and it just fucking it did not feel great. And and just gave me some other exercise I can do in replace of like incline bench press and some other stuff and like perfect. Still gonna go to the gym. Great. but yeah. Yeah. The the the Alex: Protect it's this it I'm trying to think. It's almost like I what's like your hands, right? Like if for like upper body, like your hands would be the worst place to have like a s a serious injury because then you can't grip anything. Or Aaron: I was thinking about this too. Yes. Alex: just like does it like work where it's just like going up? I don't know. Anyways. Cause I'm trying to avoid Aaron: I wonder if well if e well here's the thing. Alex: the injuries there, wherever it's like, all right, now you can't do anything. Aaron: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, even if you did something with your hands you could use like wrist cuffs. I guess it'd be hard to like do bench press like some Alex: Yeah. That that's it, that's literally what the dude said. He's like, try to like try to have this be like take as much pressure off of your grips as possible. It's like, okay. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you could you could use that. I don't know. It's just I it's we must be brothers. I'd like then I like, what would be the worst injury to have that would like just be debilitated? I was like, Alex: D built it. Aaron: spinal Alex: Yeah. Aaron: Probably be the worst for being real here. braid injury. but yeah. Alex: A right leg injury, 'cause as long as I have my right leg I can still drive for I guess left like you'd probably just figure it out with your left leg. Aaron: But then your right leg would get really weak. So that Alex: Yeah, well that's what I'm like worried about with my bicep. Like I can feel the strength in my left bicep and then like my right bicep and just like I'm gonna be one everyone's gonna think I masturbate with my left hand. no. god. Aaron: Did he say that had to So you're left handed, right? Alex: Exactly. Aaron: No, it's it but it's it's honestly just figuring out those I mean, the the whatever you have to do to still be able to engage your your bicep but not let it hurt. Because can you do like is it any sort of like curl that hurts? Alex: No, so I've been starting to change like the bicep. I I'm going away from hammer curls and Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: even like I can do preacher curl machine, but I can't do like preacher curl not machine with dumbbells. So I Aaron: Hammers. interesting. Alex: so I'm like moving away from that. For like for whatever reason, like the machine works and it's just fine. But Aaron: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Alex: like put the free weights out there. I'm just like, god. Aaron: Well, and that's I mean, that's a lesson that hopefully everyone that's listening, like if it hurts, stop doing it. Don't keep doing it. Like there's a difference between being uncomfortable because your muscles burning because you're working them out and you have like torn something. yes. Yes, yes. Disc discomfort. Yeah, like I or whatever you want to say that yeah, Alex: And you can and you can tell the difference. Like it's it's it's pain. Like you feel pain as opposed to you feel I think we've tried like pressure. Yeah. Yeah. Aaron: it's Yeah, so that's that's what it is. It's it's there's so there's some weird thing of like, you gotta you gotta push through the pain, pain's weakness leaving the body. Like, no, it's entering the body. that's what Alex: Yeah. Aaron: that actually means. And it doesn't feel nice and it hurts my feelings. okay, arm still hurting, but you went to the doctor, so good. Went to the doctor. but yeah, and that's the nice thing about s about that that app too. When you were trying to figure out different exercises, was just you figured out on your own, or were you like, Hey, did you use AI at all? or Alex: so I was using AI last week a lot just for replacement exercises because I wasn't at the gym. Aaron: Exercises. Yeah. Alex: and a lot of those replacement exercises didn't also like there was not a lot of pain with them. So it just kind Aaron: good. Alex: of worked out naturally nice. Aaron: Good. Good good good. but yeah, keep keep keep doing your DEXA is in October. Alex: Yep, one month away everybody. A little over a little over wait no, when you listen to this. Yep, one month away. Aaron: I think I'm gonna do my next I'm gonna do one next week. I'm starting to get starting to get worried. I'm gonna getting fat. Alex: Well, I I who was it I was talking it doesn't matter. I don't know if they were I don't know if they did a DEXA scan or they did like one of those other it doesn't it doesn't matter what they use. But they're just like, Yep, and I was expecting to be at like Whatever percent. I I have to tell you actually. Like I was expecting to be at twenty percent and I was at twenty-eight. I'm like, I will I'll kill my everyone. I will kill myself. Aaron: Hahaha Alex: If if if like 'cause what I'm expecting, what was I at? Like twenty, I think. Like on my Lex one, I'm just like, if I am not below eighteen, my life is over. Aaron: Yeah. I've done everything wrong. 'Cause when was your last exascan? Was it like three or four months ago? Alex: Well, cause I just It'll be it'll be three months, so October s so J July. It would have been like j late June, early July. Aaron: Okay. Yeah, I would be I would be surprised. Like I said, just by looking off your bef like your progress photos, I would be shocked if you were not lower than t twenty at least. Alex: I think that's why it would be really frustrating. It's not just it's not because I've been working out a ton, it's because like I don't like I'm seeing like a bunch of stuff that's going away. And I'm just like, Aaron: Yeah, yes. Alex: seems like seems like it should be a lot lower. Aaron: I should I should be doing great. but yeah, I think you're doing great. And that's the that's the part that sucks about working out is you gotta deal with like nagging injuries. They just happen. So there you go. Alex: Well on that note everyone don't go be safe out there while you're lifting and go be unsexy and we will chat with you next
